Great italian food tucked away in clarksdale

Gnocci was fantastic. Big fan of their Caesar salad. Arancini balls were good. Really enjoyed everything I tried there. Great for take out as well.

Excellent Meal - Food, Service, and Atmosphere

By CharlieinTexas |

A great dining experience … the service, food, and venue. First of all, kudos to our server, Horacio, a totally delightful, genuinely friendly, fellow, with phenomenally positive energy. Made excellent recommendations on request too! And, the manager, Zach, came by the table to inquire about how things were going. What a pleasant experience! Great conversation with Zach and obviously legit interest in how we were doing (as compared to merely a perfunctory hello, while rushing to the next table). Nice touch! The (bistro-like) venue is cozy, the smells inviting, the menu quite varied, and ample (free) parking just outside. So, what about the food? Delicious … everything we ordered. Meatballs and a chopped salad to start. The three meatballs were good size, well-cooked, in a tasty marinara-like sauce. The chopped salad was full of fresh ingredients, had a great crunch, and the cheese and salami were perfectly mixed in. My wife, who had ordered the meatballs, had an arugula salad with chicken. She really liked it! I had the roasted chicken, which was tender, juicy, a nice sized portion, with a perfectly roasted and crispy skin. Grilled Brussels sprouts were simple and really, really good. This is a restaurant my wife and I frequented 10 or more times pre-Covid, but fell off our radar, until tonight. Really looking forward to returning … soon! Nicely done, and three cheers to the chefs!

Fun place to enjoy delicious Italian cuisine

The mussels are delicious as are the pizzas. The salads have fresh and crisp lettuce and green arugula, etc. My husband enjoyed the Cipollina pizza. It had many mushrooms and was tasty with the spices.

Nice neighborhood restaurant

We stopped at Cipollina because it was recommended by our B&B owner and was within walking distance of it. We liked the simple decor of the restaurant. We were able to be seated immediately even without reservations. We started with two of their salads. The toppings were a bit sparse but the greens were cold and fresh. My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were good sized and tasty. The sauce was also very good. I ordered the roasted chicken breast and was very pleased how moist the meat was. The sauce on the side was a nice addition to the chicken. Overall we wished we lived in the area and could come back to Cipollina on a regular basis.

Perfect Bolognese

Cipollina is great for a classic chill Italian date night. Great wine selection and one of my favorite bolognese in town!

Italian?

By Roy T |

If you think this is an Italian restaurant, you are in for a surprise! Very disappointed in my meal as well as what my guest ordered. Garlic is " part " of Italian cooking, and not meant to dominate the taste! And putting cheese on any seafood dish is a "no no", at least without asking! His dish was covered with grated cheese. Olive Garden would be a better choice.....haha BTW, I spend monthes in Italy every year and know what I'm talking about...stick to the pizza.

Lovely Dinner

Great service, food was served hot with good wine nice atmosphere a bit noisy. Host told us we had hour and a half because of busy night! Not a great welcome

The best dishes in Austin, forget the humble décor.

The food is excellent, real Italian pizza baked in a brick oven, wood fire. Great crust and toppings. The seafood like in the Ligurie, fresh, very tasty, light. We had mussels and calamari for appetizers. Very nice pinot grigio Lagaria from Veneto. Bathrooms clean.

The Food the food

I LOVED THE MUSSELS,,,,, when I lived in Paris, the mussels were not this wonderful.... this paired with the Sauvignon Blanc and crunchy bread was a delight... Making it even more lovely, were Buddy and Jordan. It’s a little restaurant tucked away and I live here... Will return, to try everything on the menu.

Great food

I've gone to cipollina over the past few years. Not enough to call me a regular but enough to know the food is really great. I will say the price to portion ratio is a little much for the size you get (but hey you're paying for nice food). The waiters and hosts have been really nice and glasses have always been filled when needed. But I'm not incredibly impressed with the management. I noticed one manager openly berated his staff in front of customers which is very unprofessional. At least have the decency to go to the back and take a moment to cool off before talking to your staff and another time the manager was nowhere to be found while the floor was busy. My recommendations would just be a little more food for what you pay for and just to talk with management about how to give constructive feedback without throwing a temper tantrum. How you treat your staff can show in how they treat customers.

Hidden gem for Italian and wood fired pizza

By ranishi |

Casual atmosphere, helpful/friendly wait staff, a bit noisy due to hard floors. The wood fired pizzas were excellent!!! The calamari had great flavor but the texture was too firm. The shrimp scampi had great flavor on a bed of linguine(cooked perfect al dente). The tiramisu and Creme Brulee were both excellent. Overall a hidden gem for Italian.

Love Cipollina’s!

12 yo said ‘one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted!’ I really enjoyed the caprese. Nice atmosphere & great music (1930-40s, jazz).

A nice place in a cool area

This is an excellent restaurant in the West Lynn district of Austin. With fine food covering all tastes on an Italian theme. They provide gluten free pasta which is a bonus for those with allergies. We had a starter of wood roasted vegetables and a bean paste between us. The meatball pasta is to be thoroughly recommended. As was the pizza and other meals we had.

Ok place - parking is hard.

Ordered take out from here. Pasta was okay but the meatballs were kind of burned. My husband had pizza which was ok. The garlic rolls were very good. Cute place. Prices are ok. Parking is really tough.
