Good food, classic and delicious with insane portions! Staff is friendly, however, the crowd is generally a bunch of old ppl who like to glare at anyone under 30

Huge portions, classic American breakfast

By EJsgirl527 |

Friendly local restaurant. Portions are very generous. Bottomless coffee. Friendly staff. I enjoy breakfast here when visiting with family. Usually no wait on weekday morning. Biscuits are fresh and delicious. Gravy is pretty good.

Dependable

Good food reasonably priced. Breakfast is served all day and is good. Lunch specials such as meat loaf and chicken fried steak are available. Also burgers, salads, and good selection of vegetables.

Pretty Good Comfort Food

By MikeG105 |

Have been here for a couple of times for lunch during work hours during the week. Have not tried it yet on a weekend. Food is varied and menu for the most part is comfort food. Continual daily specials of 3-4 meals, plus daily specials on top of the continual specials gives the person on a budget a little relief on pricing. Portions are good and are served for the most part piping hot. I've had Chicken Fried Chicken and most recently the Chicken and Dumplings. Salads are crisp and cold served with crackers. A good "old feeling" restaurant that has that diner charm. Lots of tables and space. Can get crowded on Friday's at lunch time. We were there on Weds and it was more of a normal day and not so much rush. Dinners are served with yeast rolls and cornbread muffins. Come hungry because their portions are sure to fill and satisfy. Kinda hard to get to off the freeway, but worth the effort once you get there and sit down.

Always so good

This wasn’t my first time here and I truly enjoy coming here. It’s been here I think since the 1950’s I had a great breakfast with eggs sausage biscuits and gravy toast and extra brown hash browns. Their Migas is the best in the city but I didn’t have that this time . My friend got the hand battered chicken and French fries. The tenders were so great . The server said we should order the fried chicken , it takes about 30 minutes to Cook and she said it was the best in all of Dallas. So...there’s always next time. Service is good , you feel like you step back in time ..... appearances on the outside can be deceiving. Go and enjoy ! There can be a wait and I don’t think they take reservations.

Big Breakfast

By Graeme P |

Visited for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It was busy but not packed - we were seated immediately and promptly served with water and coffee. Our waitress was full of smiles. The place has lots of capacity but still feels warm and friendly. I'm an omelet fan and my Denver didn't disappoint. It was huge and the home-made salsa was tasty. My wife had scrambled eggs, bacon and toast and was just like you'd expect. My daughter had a fruit (I think it was blueberry) crepe but neither she nor my wife enjoyed it - very sweet, lots of creamy filling and can-squirted cream on top. If that's what you want then you won't be disappointed. The omelet, however, was a winner.

Always great breakfast

By Mark K |

I don't believe I have ever had anything here but breakfast, but their breakfast are always good. The food is good, coffee good, service great your cup never runs out, and the portions are large. They also have some back rooms for a private event. Would recommend this place to anyone. There are people here every morning that have been coming for years and I mean years, some even have their names on tables.

Yummy...you must stop by!

I regret to say that I have been passing this charm for nine years to get to the highway and never once thought about stopping. Shame on me. This is a quaint-little, family owned, delightful restaurant full of superb food and customer service. (Jessie our sever was a delight) Can't wait for my next visit. 🥞🥓🥚🍳🍔🥗

Always Good

By RWLloyd56 |

This a favorite of ours. Always enjoy the breakfast. Had the 'Shrom and Swiss omelette this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff was friendly and attentive. All in all a good meal.

Fried chicken........Order early.

By casinogal |

The fried chicken at this place is UNMATCHED. We always order it while we are driving to the restaurant so the wait isn't so long. Pick the sides you want and off you go to chicken heaven.

The food is always good. Service is good and prices are reasonable. Our graduating class from Samuell High School in Dallas meets there every two months for breakfast.

They Just Moved Norma's to #2

By Jim D |

The breakfast was excellent. They are now my #1 breakfast spot in Dallas. Eggs were cooked perfect, sausage was link and tasty, biscuits were flaky and hot, and the pancakes were southern sweet. Nice attentive service and good coffee. All at a fair price. What else could you ask for in a breakfast? Give them a try.

Old Time Dining

By melsaw15 |

Old time atmosphere and service. Good food, but nothing spectacular. Pricey for what you get. $15 with tip for chicken strips, fries and a coke.

That's What I'm Talking About!

By Mike R |

FANTASTIC, classic, old school American breakfast! Highly recommended. It's like walking into yesteryear. Courteous staff. Generous portions. Great prices. My daughter and I both thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts, and we will be back!

A friendly meal with a smile

By Harry M |

Circle Grill has become one of our favorite places to go to breakfast to meet family & friends. You get a great breakfast menu and good coffee as well as a nice place to meet and have a conversation without having to shout across the table. It has been serving the community for many years and after you go there, you will understand why they are a favorite of not only local residents, also the Dallas Police officers and the retired officers association.

Great food!

I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra and it was all delicious. They served us rolls and cornbread with our meal. The service was fast and friendly! Definitely worth the stop, authentic, like grandma made it.

Overpriced, inconsistent, rude

By Valerie F |

This place is hit or miss. We have been eating here for many years. There have been gaps in our patronage because of their inconsistent food and service. We quit going there for a few years after they screwed up our breakfast order three times in a row. How hard is it to cook bacon and eggs? We decided to give it another try, and it was really good. Then we took our friends there, they were visiting from out of town. The waitress completely screwed our order up, the food she brought not only was not what we ordered, it was inedible. Fortunately a different waitress came to the rescue, and handled our order with much grace. We went again and again and the rescue waitress/aka miracle worker/aka Diana was always there to take care of our picky selves. We only wanted the one thing, because in our experiences, it was the only thing they did right. It shouldn't be all that complicated to bring a pork schnitzel with cream gravy on the side, but for some reason, she was the only one there capable of getting it right. Also, she is an all around super star with taking care of our table. So we returned on Wednesday, had been really looking forward to it, and the waiter screwed up our order. We ordered three schnitzel and one pork chop. He brought four pork chops. We told him they looked like pork chops, he said they ran out of schnitzel. Each plate had two pieces of meat, in fact it looked like one person got 2 chops, and the rest of us got one chop and one schnitzel. He should've told us beforehand that they were out, and asked if we wanted to change our order. He only asked if we wanted something else after we mentioned this. After he took our chops back, he told us he would only charge us for the veggies. Really? Was that necessary? I didn't feel like paying for cold instant potatoes or cold canned green beans with cold canned stewed tomatoes. Memo to cook.....tomatoes do not mix well with green beans. If that was a good combo, everybody would be doing it. Duh. The two older ladies in our group munched out, they had been at the doctor all day and were hungrier than us younger ones. They didn't like it either and took most of it home for the dogs. We complained on the way out, kinda an FYI Deal, the person at the cash register, the androgynous one in plaid flannel shirt, had a terrible attitude and argued with us about the thickness of their pork vs. Schnitzel. How rude can you be? Later we called and asked to speak to manager, person said I'm the manager, then we told them what happened, androgynous person exploded. Said I'm THE ONE YOU TALK TO. We didn't complain because we wanted our money back, or a free appetizer, or anything. We complained so that they could say' sorry we didn't meet your needs, we'll try to make sure it doesn't happen again'. But that was too much to ask. No apology was in order here. We were treated with nothing but hateful, disrespectful, contempt. This place is old, tired, stale, bad location, and if they can't get the food and attitude right, no point going there. It is way overpriced anyway. If you want to drop 18.$ for lunch, go somewhere else!

Circle Grill in the eat edge of Dallas hasn't changed in 30 years, more or less.

I'm sorry to post a bad review on a locally-loved big diner, but truck stops do a much better job. We ordered a chicken tenders Blue Plate Special. All you get is small, greasy strips of chicken that tasted a lot like fish-fried fat, a big serving of potatoes, some good gravy (although it tasted like canned gravy), and cornbread, I think. The Blue Plate has gotten smaller--no longer a meat and three sides. The price is a little lower than ordering the same thing on the big menu. People around us tried ordering fried chicken livers, a certain vegetable, and sweet tea. Chicken livers are only served on two nights, considered a weekend special, and the vegetable was only served at night. And I think only unsweetened tea has been served at Circle Grill forever. We were very disappointed in the taste and presentation of the food. On the other hand, the server was friendly, generally knowledgeable, and efficient. A former student of mine is another server. She recognized me, and introduced us to two other employees, all of whom seemed happy to meet us. This is the standout feature of Circle Grill. Their diner is our home, if we wanted it to be. Then the last impression. An elderly man was checking out one couple, then walked away without a word when we stepped up. Then an elderly woman stepped in, but she never said a word to us except the total. Then a nice looking man went behind the register as we were finishing and started checking tickets, moving things around, still not being friendly to customers , but he seemed to be in charge. Negative last impression. I said nothing had changed in many years. Either the "new" booths and chairs were not really new or these had worn out the same, same arrangement, including the buffet in the dining room. BUT the wall paintings were clean or were new and fit in with the minimal decor.

Breakfast at Circle Grill- Great food and value!

By Fred B |

Had breakfast with friends this morning (Sunday) and enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. Had an omelet, hash browns, biscuits and gravy. The server took the time to get the orders exactly right. Located just off of I-30 east of Dallas. I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast.

Good Cookin'

I love a family owned diner, with wait staff that has been there for years simply because they love it. Good food, family atmosphere, and everyone who works there was happy. All Good!

Excellent Breakfast at a Fair Price

By Jim D |

The food was freshly cooked and served promptly. The sausage patties were spicy and country style. Eggs cooked perfectly. Service was attentive. The biscuits were hot and tasty. Just a very good breakfast.

New owners make the difference!

By Tanya122 |

I have been going to Circle Grill since I was very young. I have seen many changes from owners, management, remodels and menus. I actually stopped going for about 15 years due to new owners, poor management and quality of the food and service. I was invited back recently by a friend who said it had been bought by good people who wanted to bring back quality and good service. I went a few times and it was a lot better and service was great. Well now I am there everyday they are open at least once, more like twice a day. It is welcoming, clean, fresh food, great service, prices are good and it feels like it used to, community, neighborhood, your eating with friends. I can not say enough about this place, please give it a try you will love it! ~ Tanya

No big deal

By ChopperBenny |

A little disappointed as is overpriced for a diner. Add fries:$2.95. Omelettes don't include cheese, add $2.00 for cheese on top of a $10.00 omelet. 1/2# Burger with fries, approximately $13.00. Not diner prices.

Please try this restaurant.

My family has been eating here since the 1970's and it's a great place to eat, has friendly staff that cares about the customers and the food is always hot and served quickly.

New Owners, better food, much more relaxed place and enjoyable!

By robertpQ4033YK |

Met some business associates here to take care of business situations. The new owners have cleaned it up, updated the menu, and the overall ambiance is much more relaxed. The employees seem much more comfortable and the food tasted much better! It looks like this place has made a turnaround for the best!

Unbelievably Good

By Stephen J. A |

I decided to try this place because a good friend made the recommendation. As we drove up it struck me as just a hole in the wall. We were seated immediately & the waitress was very prompt in taking our order. Although it was lunch time we decided to have breakfast (eggs, hash Browns, sausage & pancakes). The food was delicious, made exactly like we wanted it. The price was very reasonable & the portion sizes were generous. It was such a good experience we returned again today & found it to be another winning experience on Father's Day. A special thanks to Leonora & Jerrie for taking such good care of their customers. This will now be one of my regular places to eat, definitely a diamond in the rough....2 big thumbs up! Stephen J. Arthur

Love it, but...... They need to fix this one item

By Adrian G |

I absolutely love this place I love the waitresses they are always so nice and helpful. The only thing that is lack luster is the HASHBROWNS. OMG it is unfair to this place for those things to be that BAD. Its like they are cooked in 10 day old Crisco shortening the after taste is really bad my father got sick on them and my mother and I refused to eat them. I dont understand WHY no one has said anything about it. Everything else is amazing! I love this place! I hope they fix this issue. The place really is so good!
