Soooooo good

By Christen D |

My friend took me here my first morning in Seattle. Fantastic breakfast sandwich and Golden Milk. Highly recommend.

Great breakfast

By easytopleez |

Quaint cafe with interesting fare. My daughter had the Nutella crepe which she’s had before it’s so good. I had the huevos rancheros which was also very good and filling. Would definitely return.

Good breakfast spot

By Jonathan B |

We went here for breakfast and I really enjoyed it. The Bloody Mary was delicious and had good heat to it. I got the breakfast sandwich and it was delicious! Great biscuit and the eggs were perfectly cooked.

Good breakfast

By Mktpro99 |

Ate outside under heaters. Coffee was excellent and hot. The farmers special was plentiful but did not come out hot. Service was very friendly. Automatic 20% tip added.

Interesting Name

By ProfAragon |

I saw Citizen Coffee and was intrigued with the name and the food and coffee was pretty good, too. I’d suggest going and taking a paper or book with you—not that it takes long, but you might want to linger.

Best fresh food great flavors! Great for breakfast!

By Denise F |

This gem is a favorite for foodie types! The service is great and the food is something fresh and home made! This was my favorite breakfast the entire week stay by the Space Needle. Just look for the big red star sign...it is a place worth stopping for! Right on the corner of Roy and Taylor! Bistro tables are out front too!

Yummy savory and sweet crepes in a creative and fun atmoshere

By blacktryst |

Citizen coffee is just around the corner from Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Seattle and next to Hamptons Suite Seattle. Offering creative crepes that is either savory or sweet, it is a really cool place to have a meal, coffee and to hang out! The decor is amazing too! I believe in the summer they also have an awesomely cool outdoor BBQ Patio you can hang out too! Unfortunately i went in winter and so cannot enjoy the BBQ patio.

This cafe is truly fantastic

By Samantha |

This cafe is truly fantastic, offering a wide range of delicious food options that cater to various dietary needs like vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free. The staff is incredibly accommodating, making sure everyone feels comfortable and satisfied with their meal choices. The outdoor seating area is charming and allows you to select your preferred seats easily, thanks to the convenient QR code ordering system at each table.

Breakfast

By SAB5859 |

Our first morning in Seattle we had breakfast here. I had the pulled pork tacos and my wife had the farmer’s breakfast with bacon. Both dishes were ok but nothing special. The coffee was good. Service was friendly and efficient. I would say a bit over priced for what we had. Nice cosy restaurant.

This is a winner!

By julie V |

Went here for breakfast and it was perfect. Sign as it was late morning on a Monday it wasn’t crowded. We ate outside which was lovely. Love the vibe at this place, at least the outdoor space (we never went inside) because it’s homey and eclectic, sort of like it been pieced together from garage sales. The food was fabulous! I had the biscuits and gravy which might have been too much of a good thing because I couldn’t finish it (although I made a valiant effort). My daughter had the breakfast sandwich which she said was amazing and my husband had the caramelized apple crepe which he loved as well. Cheesy potatoes are a great side too! All the drinks were great, I had the best decaf latte with almond milk that I’ve ever had and my daughter said the hot chocolate was particularly good because it wasn’t too sweet. Service was excellent, cheerful and always around but not hovering. A terrific choice for breakfast although I would like to come back at night when the fire pit is going.

Great Breakfast Spot

By rowdytj |

Wanted to try someplace new while in Seattle for a long weekend. Citizen Coffee was across from the hotel, so thought we would give it a try. Was surprised at how big the place was, as when we first walked in it looked there was no place to sit. The biscuits and gravy were good and reminded me of what I could get in the south. The breakfast tacos were good and the green salsa verde was the bomb. I tried one of their special coffees (that is the best seller) it was an orange honey... nothing to write home about. I tried to drink it, but it did not care for it. Overall, food was great and will go back.

Loved this Cafe.

By TASS14 |

Maxwell Hotel recommended this great cafe. Food was fabulous. Very innovative and yummy. We really loved that the coffee was served in very large mugs/cups and it was very good.

Loved the cuban expresso and crepes!

By Italianlover |

Unique coffees along with traditional capucinos and lattes. I had mushroom spinach crepe with fried egg and it was delicious. Service was excellent. Located in nice neighborhood near Lake Union. Looks like it get quite crowded but they must have expanded since the prior reviews; there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Great breakfast

By dianneandpete |

What a delightful break from a "hotel breakfast"! I had a delicious turkey raspberry sandwich with avocado & tomato. My husband had Huevos rancheros. Scrambled eggs, pulled pork, avocado, salsa, beans and tortilla. He said tasted great. I have had the pear crepe in the past. There are many different choices on the menu. Definitely will be back.

Fantastic Food and Spicy Margaritas

By RaePalmSprings |

Unique small restaurant with great food and drinks. Our children brought us to this delightful, fun restaurant for dinner on our visit to Seattle. The Spicy Margaritas were delicious. We ordered the Chicken Wings, Fish Tacos, Fish & Chips, Guac & Chips. All the food was delicious and we enjoyed the ambiance and band. Had a really good time.

Backyard Space Needle!

By Marliss E |

Staff was amazing and friendly. Lattes and food was so yummy. Lovely backyard setting with a view of the Space Needle. Since our hotel was next door, we had two breakfasts there and came back at night for a gaslit fire and some local beer. The evening atmosphere was super fun!

Great local little restarant!

By Laura R |

I was surprised to see this was actually called Citizen Coffee, because I've only eaten there before and had coffee to go along-- I've not patronized just for that cup of java. This is a cute, little local restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and enjoyable. The food is very good. We've had the BLAT (Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado, Tomato) Sandwich, which is awesome . . . it is drizzled with a little balsamic vinegar dressing, which really makes the sandwich. My daughter always gets the Nutella crepes, which I haven't been able to taste yet because she gobbles them up quickly. Nice mocha to go with. Staff is super friendly, attentive. Highly recommend Citizen!

Fantastic atmosphere, great coffee

By Suz W |

This was our first stop daytime in Seattle. It is in walking distance from Stay Pineapple Maxwell Hotel and was recommended by staff. We LOVED the atmosphere- we sat outside as it was 60's sunny and beautiful. My 17yo loved her "pretty " coffee and The food was good enough! We could see the space needle which was cool for our first day there. We would return for sure!!

Pleasant from beginning to end

By RMJ11 |

A community coffee house with tea and snack selections. Staff attentive and helpful. Fresh and prompt yet not rushed. A little something for most everyone

Good vibe and taste coffee

By Hannes R |

Felt like a 'home' almost, very comfortable and the servers there were super friendly. We went there for brunch which was delicious. highly recommended!

Will be back

By szorrilla |

We had the Avo Toast and the Cowboy Casserole. Good large portions and tasty food. Service was kn point and speedy. We went a week day and there was no wait. Lots of breakfast options on the menu.

Lunch after Chihuly Gardens

By forbo1 |

Just a short walk from the Space needle. Great food , very interesting decor and very friendly . I had the citizen pork sandwich . It was excellent.

Great selection

By ACMEreviews |

Friendly service and a really good selection of brunch dishes. There's construction work going on opposite which makes sitting outside a bit noisy during the day but there is an annexe on the side which combines the best of inside and outside dining. Great coffee!

Starting the Day Off Right

By rollinsthomas |

Family of 10. Our server Mariana was a delight. She placed us in Private room off the beer garden. Food very good : crepes and Keri taco this is close and fine Blood Mary 🤗🤗

Wonderful food!

By Mary R |

My husband and I came here to fuel up before leaving Seattle on a cruise. We ate outside, luckily it was a nice day. I had the bananas peanut butter bourbon waffles, and they were DIVINE. My husband had the Cowboy Casserole and loved it. Great coffee too!

Great breakfast, vegetarians included

By jainvikas1979 |

We came across this place from TripAdvisor and it was jewel of a place. Being vegetarian, it is generally difficult to get a good variety but this places had it all - from variety of crepes, tacos and Avacado toasts.

Great breakfast

By Fer Diaz |

Had a crepe madame and it was delicious. The coffee was great and the service was the best. The value to quality ratio is great, I really recommend this place and I will absolutely be returning on this same trip. They have several options for breakfasts of all tastes and kinds.

Went for breakfast, good breakfast bad service

By Viktoryia G |

Service was bad, pur orders were messed up and took about 2 hrs to deliver breakfast and the eggs...food was good but too long of a wait.. also some of the service was weird... We asked for a wedge of lemon and waiter just used the bare hands and gave it to us instead of using the dish/ fork... At the age of covid , that was unacceptable.. also gratuity was automatically included ... I wish the service would be better ...

Wish we could give more than five stars

By Brooke W |

Love love love this place! We stayed at the Maxwell down the street and ate here 3 times! It's much more than a coffee shop, with absolutely delicious food. My daughter tried 3 different flavors of French toast and all were wonderful! I had the huevos rancheros and the tofu Vietnamese sandwich and they were great. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and several of the other breakfast sandwiches and loved them too! The service was great, and the coffee and tea was fabulous as well. I wish we could have one of these in our own town!

Something different for breakfast

By 4alexnyc |

If your craving something different for breakfast, like tacos or crepes, this is the place to go. The coffee is also really good

Great neighborhood breakfast place!

By jejcolorado |

Flavorful, fresh food with creative selections. Our server, Kiwi (sp?) was wonderful. Outdoor patio was perfect way to enjoy the morning and be safer than inside in this uncertain times.

Good food, comfortable dining

By David G |

We had two lunches/breakfasts at this restaurant at the foot of Queen Anne neighborhood and enjoyed both. Good selection of sandwiches, all day breakfast, and crepes. Good coffee. Friendly service. Excellent value.

Huge portions

By gb2308 |

We were very happy to find this restaurant, and enjoyed a very big breakfast. Hubby almost couldn't finish his Cowboy Casserole, it was so big. The breakfast sandwich is so tall, that we deconstructed it just to be able to eat it (the biscuit all by itself is very tasty). The grilled cheese is also very good, and served with chips. We sat in the upstairs area, and it was fun to read pages of a novel that is on the wall as wallpaper. Very nice vibe to the place. We were glad that we had gotten there shortly after 8am. By the time we left, it was very busy.

Eclectic Local Neighborhood Spot

By DickinsonDad |

We were a group of six staying in a house nearby while seeing the sites of Seattle. We stopped in for a late breakfast/early lunch midweek. The menu was wide ranging from sweet and savory crepes to Korean influenced beef dishes. The food was all good. They are known for the crepes, and those that had them loved them. The rest of the food did not disappoint either. Our server was very friendly and kept everyone's water and coffee topped off throughout. Everyone agreed that we would go back if we had the chance.

Great breakfast spot!

By mparla |

Very tasty breakfast with nice outdoor seating. Variety of things on the menu that range from 8-13 dollars or so. Recommend for a breakfast spot!

Great crepes

By Faraway42 |

The rosemary vanilla latte was good, but I had a sautéed mushrooms crepes, which was amazing! Give it a try! The place is pretty busy and gets crowded.

Great Lunch

By HACKT |

We stayed next door at the Hampton Inn so went to lunch here. Great location, nice atmosphere. We sat in their porch on a sunny afternoon and enjoyed our lunch. Great menu, alot of variety. Highly recommended. Very crowded so I recommend you get there early or late to avoid prime dining hours.

Great Food

By daisylooHamilton |

We had breakfast here twice during our stay in Seattle. It was a few blocks from our hotel and was highly recommended by them. The coffee was great, the orange juice was delicious, and the food was very good. The servers were friendly and attentive. We would recommend this place.

Good breakfast spot near the Needle

By Greg2hike |

Good coffee and crepes, quick service near the Space Needle. Will stop there again if near Seattle Center. Breakfast lasagna very good also.

Cuban Sandwich Delight

By Herman M |

We ate her several times. The food is great and it is across the street from the Hampton Inn where we stayed. Sit down or take out food is available.

A very pleasant surprise

By Adam L |

What a cool find near the Space Needle. Tried this spot for lunch and really enjoyed it. All our savory crepes were a big hit, especially the croque madame. Although it's not (as you might think from the name) officially a coffee shop, there is a solid selection of coffee-based drinks, and a couple of the kids in our group absolutely loved the nutella hot chocolate. Several different eating areas including both inside and outside. Service was friendly.

Meet the Parents 2/1/2020

By Mark B |

The restaurant is small but is worth waiting for seating. Wonderful crepes, drinks and service. I will visit again.

Delicious!!

By Robin W |

We were staying at an Airbnb near the space needle and we were in need of a good breakfast out after seeing many positive reviews on TripAdvisor we decided to try citizens and we were very happy we did we all had a very enjoyable breakfast coffee was also excellent our waiter was so cool if we lived in Seattle we would go here a lot!!!

Very good local breakfast

By Jennifer P |

We love this spot good food and coffee both! The breakfast tacos, breakfast sandwich and waffles were all tasty and brought out quickly!

Great coffee

By Mellissa W |

Walked here from a nearby hotel for breakfast. Was pretty happy with the range of options, had the breakfast baguette, and a vanilla latte. No complaints at all, just an easy delicious place.

Great way to start the day

By sarg-roadtrip |

Went here for breakfast, just a short walk from the maxwell hotel. Great selection and variety of food options. Friendly staff and cool atmosphere. You can't go wrong, highly recommend.

Unassuming and Unexpectedly Delicious!

By Sacha L |

We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast meal at this cute, unassuming cafe. We were absolutely surprised and delighted by our flavorful meal. My husband enjoyed the biscuits & gravy. Everything tasted as though it was freshly made, in-house. The gravy was a Southwest savory delight with a little kick of spice. I had the Citizen crepe with two sunny side up eggs. Again, outstanding flavor - perfect combination of breakfast ingredients all within a beautifully light crepe. Nice presentation as well. The honey lavender latte with Oatly oat milk was my absolute favorite! Ridiculously delicious- not too sweet and the lavender was just a tease- not overwhelming. This place is a treasure amidst the hustle and bustle and sometimes pretentious Seattle restaurant scene. Tourists staying in the Seattle Center area should absolutely stop in to give this place a try. Note - inside is quite small but they have a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy beautiful Seattle summer weather as well.

Nice little spot!

By NovelApproach626 |

Walked here from the Maxwell hotel before an interesting day out and about, really enjoyed it! Great staff, great atmosphere, great food!

Cowboy Casserole

By kgiblr |

Get it, it's amazing. We also had a breakfast sandwich since I'm a sucker for a savory biscuit. 10/10. Golden mylk latte was the best I've ever had! Wish we lived here so we could eat at this place all the time. Really neat spot.

Like a Brick...House

By Eric S |

It's probably not their fault. Street work right outside created a racket, and the unusually warm day caused the interior of the small brick establishment to be a bit too warm for comfort. The service was extremely good and the food was decent, but didn't stand out. I really did enjoy my Irish coffee though. We stopped in due to the reviews and left not knowing what the buzz was all about, but it might just have been a bad day. Unfortunately we won't be able to check them out again this trip.

Good food, good coffee, and good beer make for a very good combination

By Hawk470 |

The name Citizen Coffee is a misnomer. It serves full breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, as well as coffee all day. It also has a full bar. I went for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed its simplicity. I dined in the open at wooden picnic table on a beautiful, warm Seattle evening with the rich scent of barbecue from the smoker spiraling through the air. The predominantly, young professional crowd, along with some families seemed in fine spirits; enjoying their sandwiches and barbecue platters washed down with local beer on tap and others in bottles. Several solo patrons lounged in Adirondack chairs as they ate and drank. In colder weather, fire pits were at the ready. My food was just perfect for my mood. The fine, hoppy local IPA and the multi-flavored “Citizen Sandwich” combined for a filling and satisfying evening meal. My sandwich came on a crusty, warm baguette piled high with sweet house roasted pork and caramelized onions topped with seasoned aioli, cilantro and pickled jalapeños. Good, commercial ridged chips provided the perfect companion. Quick service too. Other than the wooden tables, there’s not much décor, but on a warm Seattle evening under clear, blue skies, who needs decor?

Love this place!

By Sujata410 |

As a visitor to Seattle and staying in the Space Needle area, this place has been a savior. I went here for breakfast (delicious huevos rancheros), coffee and lunch. Good selection with solid breakfast staples, sandwiches along with savory and sweet crepes (yum!). Everything I've eaten here has been yummy. Another huge bonus is the great service - everyone is friendly and efficient.

Cute little place

By Madiin |

I spent about 2 hours here after having to check out of my hotel and it still being too early to go to the airport. I was alone, and got seated comfortably at a small table in the upstairs area. The building itself is fairly plain and bare bones, but the food and drink is wonderful!!! I ordered a cappuccino and the grilled cheese sandwich, and felt very relaxed as I ate and worked on my computer. Nobody bothered me or asked me to leave. I was disappointed that my husband didn't get to experience this place, and would definitely recommend it to others.

Nice early dinnner

By Matvl |

We sat in the garden for an early dinner. Or rather, we had to sit in the garden as indoor seating was closed. Food was ok though not brilliant. Found menu very pork heavy and while there we were or two vegetarian options these were limited and menu not very balanced. Service was adequate but again pretty average. Not at all sure how this place gets such a high ranking on TA.

It’s a flavor-fest

By TheHappyFlutist |

Make plans to eat here. Go out of your way if you have to. I ordered the Cowboy Casserole, and goodness gracious it was fantastic. It is the one of the most flavorful dishes I have ever eaten in a restaurant. My husband ordered the special blackberry lemon crepe, and it was also extremely tasty. Don’t forget to order a side of potatoes!

A hidden gem in Seattle.

By PhilKay92 |

A hidden gem in Seattle. Went in here for breakfast and we were not disappointed. Food is tasteful and the place is cozy.

Modest looking but GREAT FOOD!

By philip_blank |

We stopped there for lunch and were a bit skeptical when we saw it from the outside. Not the shiniest restaurant around and it was raining. But when we went inside, we were greated by a wonderfully warm atmosphere and a terrific dining experience. We both had sandwiches and they were outstanding. The spices were flavorful without being hot...nicely done.

A very unique breakfast experience

By JimboCanucks |

We stopped in here for breakfast. The atmosphere was warm and cozy given the cold rainy day. The server was friendly and efficient. The coffee was excellent and the crepes were delicous and unique. A wonderfull meal.

GREAT breakfast spot!

By Travelgirl_8584 |

Stopped in here for breakfast with my friend and wasn't disappointed. It's a small place but a cool atmosphere. The coffees were delicious and the food was top notch. Very good mix of sweet and savory on the menu and I'll definitely be back when I return to Seattle.

It was so nice, we went twice!

By Angela C |

Stopped by for some caffeine and crepes our first day in Seattle ... everything was SO tasty and the staff was so nice, we decided to hit up Citizen one last time before we went home. The Cowboy Casserole was PERFECT for a day of traveling. The St. Germosa also helped! Staff here is incredibly nice - we received a list of places to check out our first day and it was awesome! Highly recommend - especially if you're already in the neighborhood of the Space Needle!

Great Spot for Brunch or afternoon brew!

By Bridget M |

Love Citizen! Such a great place to grab brunch with a couple friends or even enjoy a morning to yourself. In the Summer the beer garden is the best place to be on a warm afternoon.

Great for after work

By Kristen C |

Went here with my co-workers and enjoyed a pleasant happy hour on their vast outdoor space. Relaxing and fun!

Outdoor "camp" BBQ

By loveDCA |

Citizen stands out on its own with creative breakfast dishes and delicious coffee. But they recently stepped it up another degree with the addition of an open lot for BBQ and drinks. The space is dog friendly but not minor-friendly as it's basically a big beer garden. They have the classic games (monster jenga and corn hole), fire pit and BBQ, and lots of space to hang with friends.

Great pit stop!

By Hayley H |

Called here after a long walk on my way. Great coffee (with multiple milk options including almond and coconut), delicious cookie and friendly attentive staff. Awesome decor too. Would highly recommend!

Be prepared to wait, but it is worth it!

By Stephanie N |

We arrived what we considered early for being on vacation (9:30) but still had a wait and ended up sitting in the container next to the restaurant (which was fine with us). It was definitely worth the wait. The coffee was excellent and we both loved our crepe (nutella for him, pesto for me).

First Breakfast in Seattle, Hoping for a Second!

By MitchandLuke |

Rustic, cozy, full of character atmosphere. Iced Carmel coffee and vanilla lattes were delicious. We tried three different dishes and they all were yummy. Spicy cowboy casserole, farmer breakfast and BLAT. Service was very good, friendly and professional. With tip around $60 for breakfast and coffees for three.

delicious

By ACTtherapist |

We ate here for lunch after arriving in Seattle very late earlier in the morning, staying at the nearby Hampton Inn. My husband, a BBQ pork snob, raved over his pork BBQ sandwich (and we have lived in some of the great BBQ cities such as Kansas City), and my breakfast entree was delicious--especially the white bread. I usually don't get white bread but due to stomach upset the waitress suggested it and it was delicious. Great atmosphere. Everything was tasty and interesting...sorry we only got to eat here once.

Delicious!

By laurzie27 |

Awesome breakfast food and drinks. Small restaurant so may take awhile to get a seat but definitely worth the wait.

Delicious Lunch

By Suzy P |

I stopped by for lunch while exploring the city solo. Sat at the counter area by the windows. The turkey cranberry sandwich and it was delicious!! Service was a little slow but you could tell it was because they were busy, everyone was very nice! Very unique little spot with seating upstairs and outside. Enjoyed it and would go back next time in Seattle.

Cute spot!

By JanetT |

Great little cafe! delicious selection of baked goods and sandwiches. The coffee is fantastic, and the atmosphere is great as well! I will definitley be back!

Worth the trip!

By Stacy S |

The food was fantastic and the service was excellent! The portion sizes were large and the combo of flavors just really work.

Little gem.

By Coloradogal2014 |

Our hotel front desk staff recommendation for citizens related to crapes. A bar that does crapes for breakfast?? Couldn’t have been a better place to eat breakfast. Foot note. It’s very close to the Seattle space needle and chiculy glass museum.

Fantastic Weekend Brunch

By Karen M |

We were staying at a nearby hotel but fancied breakfast at somewhere locals frequent. This was a perfect fit. It was busy, with diners waiting for a table marked on a blackboard. Service and food were great.

Perfect spot for breakfast!

By Dave S |

I was just in Seattle recently for work and stayed nearby - After grabbing lunch the day I got in, I was hooked! Citizen offered some great dishes for breakfast (I was working the rest of the time during lunch hours) and excellent coffee. Service was excellent, always friendly and quick. Seating inside is cozy but the outside seating is really great (on a good weather day). I'm looking forward to my next time in Seattle so I can get back to Citizen!

Owner Corrected a Bad Experience!

By Sasquatch78 |

We were staying across from Citizen but never had a chance to eat there. It generally gets good reviews and the hotel recommended it. We were leaving that AM and I wanted to get some sandwiches for the flight. I checked out their menu and their: TENDER KOREAN PORK SANDWICH “An Original” Authentic spicy marinated pork piled high with mouthwatering housemade creamy mango-jalepeno slaw then grilled on our Como bread! Served with chips. @ 8.95!, jumped out at me. We had eaten the day before at Paseo's and had one of our best meals of the Trip, so unfortunately the bar was set high! My GF wanted to go back but I was worried about the time and went with convenience. I called over and the gentlemen who answered seemed very rushed and was having trouble focusing. I asked if it was possible to order take-out and he said yes but could I call back. I suggested that I come over to place the order and he said that was great. When I got there I could tell they were busy. They took my order and I waited around to get it. I could tell they were swamped and did not seem to expect such a big crowd on a weekday even on a holiday! The sandwiches arrived after awhile and since I was in a hurry I paid and was leaving. I realized that the bill seemed high for the price. I requested an itemized receipt. I realized later that the Website had not been updated and the sandwiches were a few more dollars than advertised. Which is not a big issue if the product is worth it, which they were not. I rushed back to the hotel off to the Airport, on arrival we had a moment to check our product and what a disappointment. Not even close to the description on the Website. We tossed them in the garbage after I took a couple of Pics. When I think of what I could have had for lunch and what I got instead I literally felt robbed! I wanted Management to be made aware of this and that maybe this did not represent the quality they want coming out of their Kitchen, even on a busy day. I got hold of the owner and she was very apologetic and offered free sandwiches next time I came in. Considering I live in NY that would not be possible. I asked could something more be done and she agreed to issue a refund. Which I felt was the right thing to do and I applaud her for that decision!

Breakfast!

By Jeff C |

Found this place within walking distance of our hotel after a quick tripadvisor search for good places to eat. Sure glad we did. 4 of us for breakfast, 4 different dishes, all good. Biscuits and gravy were great, fluffy biscuits, house made gravy that was loaded with sausage and not too salty or thick. Served with a couple of fried eggs on top. My perfect breakfast. Kid 1 had a savory crepe, bacon and cheese with maple syrup splashed on top. I stole a bite, it was wonderful. Kid 2 had a crepe loaded with fruit and a dash of Nutella, I did not get a bite of that one, but she said it was awesome. The wife had the country breakfast, eggs, potatoes, bacon. The usual breakfast stuff. Nicely done with seasoned fries red potatoes. Prices were spot on for what I expect in Seattle, can't wait to go back and try lunch.

Great food

By Don C |

Great brunch food options. Very tasty food and coffee. Only reason for a rating of 4 instead of 5 is the service was a little slow. The server seemed to be all over the place so it is possible they were short staffed today.

Amazingly Good

By ebcnaz |

It’s in a old style turn of the century brick building. The menu is huge. The food was fantastic and the service was great. A nice experience and we will make a point to return. It’s close to the Gates center so tie it in with a free tour there.

Good food, cozy atmosphere

By Shelley M |

Came here upon recommendation of the hotel, and it was good! Cabin atmosphere with upstairs tables and downstairs bar seating. We had the Korexican tacos as an appetizer (really good!), then I had the spaghetti sandwich (awesome!). Carafes of water on the table so you can stay good and hydrated. Friendly fast service. Three of us ate for $60.

Amazing breakfast!

By Gita B |

My husband I ate here twice while on a short vacation to Seattle. It was so amazing the first morning, we had to come again! Coffee was fabulous and our server was great to chat with! Thanks for a great breakfast x 2! Will definitely be back to Seattle again and this will be definite stop.

Terrific breakfast spot near south lake union

By Mary Ann L |

In town for a long weekend after many years away from Seattle, we were seeking convenient, interesting breakfast/brunch spots and were very happy we tried Citizen. It was a Sunday and fairly full but no waiting, the menu is eclectic and spans sweet and savory in interesting ways, and the service was efficient and friendly. We will definitely be back on our next trip!

Great food, even better service!

By Laura HB |

We stopped in for brunch just before noon on a Sunday. We were prepared to wait for a table but the hostess led us right upstairs to a table that had just opened up. Our server was so friendly and accommodating. Our beverages were delivered promptly and, even though they were very busy, our food came out relatively quickly as well. I had the turkey raspberry sandwich which was SO good. A really unique and rich treat. Everyone in our party was very pleased with their food. The environment is casual and friendly. We really enjoyed it!

Welcoming Bar

By JenniGoo |

I was looking for a quick place to grab some food while travelling for work. I dropped into Citizen because it was close to my hotel, but it was a great choice! A really welcoming and cosy atmosphere. The food was amazing (recommend the Korexican beef tacos!). There was a decent drinks menu too. All in all, I had a great visit

Delicious and delightful

By hAnMeE |

There is a variety of sweet and savory crepes. There was six of us, so it made for quite an expensive breakfast, but was worth the experience. There is a bar/bench area on the entry level, and additional table service upstairs. There is also outdoor seating, but that is available when it is warmer. Everything we had was delicious (oatmeal, nutella crepes, crepe madame, and cappuccinos). The service was excellent and the waitress was patient and friendly.

Excellent quirky breakfast

By Mark |

Lovely little cafe to hang out over breakfast. Delicious items, quirky, low-key unpretentious atmosphere. Great little place.

Avocado toast

By RoyaltyC |

I came here for breakfast around 8 am on a Sunday. Got an outdoors table. The staff was welcoming and recommended a few items. The avocado toast was delicious and the fresh squeezed orange juice was wonderful. Cost was $18 including a service charge. Their menu is huge with many items to choose. I would come back to try other dishes for lunch and dinner.

Mother daughter trip to Seattle

By wphil4 |

I would love to eat my way through this menu! Delicious food and great service. This would be a regular stop if we lived in Seattle. This was our breakfast stop while on our trip...my daughter and I choose to get one savory and one sweet crepe and share, always a win!

Our Favourite Breakfast in Seattle

By Brett C |

This out-of-the way, little coffee shop, that serves food is in a quirky and ramshackle building. But the service is swift, and genuine, food excellent and it's steadily busy, albeit limited in space. However it all works smoothly, and we like to think we are purveyors of breakfasts....try it out.

Very Seattle

By Jamie E |

I've been coming to Seattle for a very long time, and for the last couple years have been coming to this place as it's near where my work meetings typically are. If you want the full Seattle experience, come check it out. Nice indoor, and great outdoor space with fire pits. Self service outside at the bar, which seems to be a very Seattle thing........and yes, bring your ID up to the bar......with a completely straight face I've seen them card old men with hair white as snow. They're by the book in Seattle ;-). The food is good---tasty, but sometimes uninspired. The avocado toast is literally a single piece of bread with some avocado spread on for 6 bucks, and the egg that comes with the (not quite southern but good) biscuits and gravy is left to the imagination: when I've ordered scrambled, I've had an omelette laid on top, when I ordered poached/soft-boiled, I got an alien look that landed me sunny-side-up. The staff demonstrate the complete range of emotions of most Seattle-ites: nice but not warm through neutral/no emotion through slightly snarky and passive aggressive. As my friends from the east coast who've resettled in Seattle like to say, irony and humor seems to be lost on the locals, and this place is no exception. In particular if this is your first trip and you're close by (I wouldn't go out of your way), pop in, have some nice food, go to the bar for your own beer, and take bets on which of the three above (non)emotions you might get in your wait staff :).

Beware of gratuity and tip on payment page!

By remyenzo |

We were in town for a cruise and had breakfast here yesterday. The food was very good, but all four of us had difficulty ordering and ended up double tipping without realizing it. We ate in, but still had to order/ pay through the QR code. It was very ackward and frustrating. When I went to the bar and asked about a refill for my iced tea, I was rudely told no refills. The receipt was sent to us via email and when we looked at it later, a 22% gratuity was automatically added and (not realizing that) we added a tip! So, the service was nothing more than someone preparing and bringing our food to the table- certainly not much more than average at best- and they got a 38% tip! It is not at all about the money, but I feel this is a bit deceptive.

our breakfast "salty"

By Sircoleman |

Breakfast in America and clearly could only be savory American style. Located 10 minutes walk from the hotel we chose it as a very particular place and online reviews quite positive. Arrived we were struck externally by the structure externally an architectural mix between typically mountain house and the old west exposed wooden suit. Internally very rustic, with mezzanine and internal staircase all strictly in solid wood, externally a small enclosed garden with tables where possible to have breakfast. The very varied menu, I opted for a classic scrambled egg with bacon and potatoes. Excellent egg and bacon, potatoes in a pan to touches, unlike those eaten in the rest of the holiday always found fried or baked stick. On the potatoes there was a lot of pepper a little excessive for breakfast. My friend had a huge salty waffle with asparagus, eggs, onion and I don’t remember what else, so much so that he couldn’t finish it. Good coffee, great service and exceptional availability as throughout the trip Prices in the norm To try

Good food with great service

By TT442 |

After searching nearby for a decent place to grab a sandwich , I settled on this place, and I'm glad I did. Maybe I'm a cheapskate, but The Cubano , which was delicious , I found pricy for $13. Beer was cheap and fresh though, they have a decent cocktail list and boozy coffee menu. If I was a local I would probably come by on a semi regular basis. Matt was excellent ;efficient and friendly. The place has a funky comfortable vibe with a cool patio out back.

Healthy Food But Could Have Made At Home

By Wine Enthusiast 88 |

This was probably the most disappointing experience I had during my latest trip to Seattle. I was so excited to try a restaurant that was off the beaten path but after doing so I wished I would have stayed in tourist central. While the portions are very generous and the food is healthy, the execution was average. I felt as though I could have made what I had ordered at home. Now while I wouldn't mind going back to give this restaurant another shot, it will be very hard to do so with the abundance of great restaurants in town.

Nice spot

By KuriG |

This is a great spot for coffee and cafe food. Actually REALLY like their coffee and I've never had a disappointing sandwich. The prices are a bit high. While something attracts me to their "cozy" atmosphere, I often end up feeling a bit cramped. The biggest downer for me to that the wait staff almost always come off a bit curt.

A good breakfast is the foundation of your day

By Allan B |

A misty cool morning doesn’t necessarily show Citizen at it’s best, because it isn’t the largest space internally. It has lots of cool expansion space outside but nevertheless they make good use of the space available. The food is great, the service excellent and the prices keen. It was the perfect foundation for the rest of our day.

Great choice for breakfast

By JEFFNMOLLIE |

Quick seating-fast service-wonderful food! What more can you ask for? Really enjoyed our Nutella crepes and biscuits & gravy!

Relaxing Breakfast

By John M |

We stayed near Citizen at the Hampton Inn and realized it was nearby on Trip Advisor. Wow - it did not disappoint!!! The coffee, breakfast drinks and food were impeccable, as was the service. We particularly liked the ambiance for early morning. Just what we were looking for . The gravy for the biscuits has more going on inside it than most southern gravy at a gourmet B&B. Some cream, herbs, sweetness and quality sausage. Just right and unique .

Flippin' best crepes!

By pastrypants |

I flippin' love this place. Get it? Flip? A two-story restaurant, and it's halfway between my arrival at the airport and where my office is in Fremont. It's becoming my staple crepe place. Narrow space downstairs with single industrial stairs at one long reclaimed wood bar shelf. Brick and wood interior. Burlap covered lights. Specials in bold posted on a chalkboard at the far end of the space by the little kitchenette. They also boast a bigger upstairs area, but I've never ventured up there. Maybe when the weather is warmer! They serve up many options here, but I'm basing my review solely on the crepes. Savory or sweet, so many options to choose from! Water is already ready on the counters, and when I ask for lemons, they appear seedless. Attention to detail! Good sized portions. My choice: The sautéed mushroom with fresh spinach, crimini, and oyster mushroom. Sautéed with shallots and thyme, finished with gruyere and a balsamic drizzle. They add some grapes to the plate, add a bit of sweetness. Crepes are cooked perfectly. Lots of tiny air bubbles! Soft inside with crispy edges. Mushrooms are firm to the bite and balance well with the mild sharpness of the cheese. Balsamic gives it that extra zing. Overall comfort in this crepe care package. I almost never finish the entire thing. I promise you won't feel like crepe when you leave!

F.A.B. Fabulous Advice: Brunch

By Vanda E |

Had a family of seven--attended to immediately and provided with comfortable and appropriate seating: five adults and two children. Wait staff: gracious and efficient Menu: traditional and creative/original Location: perfectly centered within a bustling hotel district Food selections: EVERYONE satisfied with "two thumbs up!"

If I could take this place home with me!

By Rhonda C |

During my stay at a nearby hotel, I would walk over every morning and enjoy a Americano (which was the best I have experienced) and breakfast which consisted of a different crepe every morning. I wish I could take this place and bring it home with me. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. I was able to go there

You have to try the crepes!

By cocobch |

The breakfast menu is great. Try the savory crepes! The pesto crepe was so good, I barely came up for air as I scarfed it down! Food to die for!

Yummmm

By Redrosehorse |

Had a really friendly waitperson who suggested that the breakfast tacos were good. She was wrong - they are amazing! This felt really authentic and good value. A bit out of the way but was worth it.

Brunch!!!

By Doy5t |

Great recommendation by our hotel - varied menu, super tasty dishes, good coffee, attentive waiters...

Great breakfast / Brunch offerings!

By RockridgeC |

Staying up the street w/ abysmal food, we made this our go to for a couple of mornings during the weekend. Great offerings from healthy, to hearty to sweet and savory. Great servers and at a reasonable cost. Highly recommended!

A bowl of coffee and lots to eat

By Mark P |

When they brought us the massive cups of coffee (beware cost is $3.50/cup), I knew we were in the right place. The crêpes were delicious. My boy thought the Farmers Breakfast was acceptable (potatoes a little over spiced). Wife found the Cowboy Casserole was spot on. A little pricey for an everyday event, but VERY pleased and everyone should add this to their Seattle itinerary.

Absolutely delicious food and nice ambience

By Nathan H |

Absolutely delicious food. Very nice outdoor seating options. Looks good for hosting small gatherings. Music selection was good for a younger audience such as myself.

Fun atmosphere, good breakfast, prepare to wait

By Stacy Strickland |

Wow! This place was a busy spot for breakfast this morning! We were lucky to get a table and enjoy the table service. There was about a 30 minute wait for food, but our ice teas and umbrella kept us cool while we waited. We had hoped our yogurt parfait would come quickly, since it required no cooking. Alas, it came with the rest of the food. His breakfast sandwich was okay once he added hot sauce. My avocado toast was okay once I added salt and pepper. Not sure if it was worth the wait or the price. The waffles looked good... so perhaps we just missed ordering their signature items. Despite our dining in, everything was disposable. Compostable plates and yogurt cup, recyclable cups for our tea, and landfill bound water cups and utensils. While there were some bins to separate items, I also saw some bins where everything was comingled - meaning it's all landfill bound. If single use is the only option, perhaps Citizen could consider moving to 100% compostable to reduce complexity and ensure items are disposed of correctly. This would save staff time and our environment.

Delicious!

By gminerfever |

Came for breakfast, was pleasantly surprised at the varity of offerings. Start with coffee. We had the Miso caramel orange blossom honey latte. Yes! It was delicious. Enjoy!

Great food and atmosphere but waiter was horrible

By fillymay1 |

The food was great and interesting offering of many rooms and outdoor seating. However I found the service poor. First, it took quite awhile to get proper seating. Then the waiter took the wrong order. Instead of apologizing, he said, "I'll take half the blame". In addition, they had a big group order they were working on so I would have to wait 15 minutes to get my breakfast. I hope your experience is better as my 2 family members had a great meal.

Cool atmosphere of covered and open outdoor seating

By stephhopeh |

Laid back, cool outdoor seating within walking distance from MoPop. We had the Nutella waffles, pear waffles, heuvos rancheros, and coffee. All of it was devoured. Looks like they have a pretty good booze menu too lol.

Ditch the plastic straws

By EnviroMomMia B |

Enjoyed breakfast with my family of 4. The service was awesome with Ryan the waiter attending us with enthusiasm. Food was good. What would even be great is if this Resto join the global environmental movement to ditch plasticstraws byt not serving them automatically. Please serve them with Drinks only when really requested. Also it would be great if the resto consider eco friendly alternatives such as paper / bamboo/ metal straws. Let’s help keep the oceans free of straws and a litter free beach for the future. NO CREPES, Subpar Coffee, Decent Food

By Eric Wielock |

THEY NO LONGER OFFER CREPES. Under new management and crepes have been substituted with waffles. The waffle was decent and my boyfriend was pleased with the Farmer's Breakfast he ordered. The coffee was extremely subpar. I ordered a 160z (with an additional double shot) latte and it came out looking and tasting like milk. I ordered an espresso shot (with an additional double shot) and the server brought a half filled four ounce cup. When I inquired if it was a double shot she looked me dead in the face and said "yeah, so it's a quad". If you're an espresso drinker, I highly recommend you go somewhere else. (Or maybe just avoid Saturday's around noon) All in all, we will probably be back because the food and atmosphere were enjoyable, but will steer clear of the cafe menu.

Sunday Brunch

By Julie M |

Excellent food with a fun and hip atmosphere. Inside and outside dining. Menu has a great variety for breakfast and lunch with yummy coffee drinks and beverages

Relax! Enjoy a Good Breakfast with Outdoor Seating

By NYC Edge |

On a recent visit to Seattle, family and friends came here for breakfast. One big reason we came here was we were a large group and we were able to order and all sit together. The breakfast was very good, particularly the breakfast burrito. I have read people complain about the speed of service. Not sure, what the complaints are all about. Despite our large group we were served fairly quickly and we were done in a responsible amount of time. Sure we didn't get our food all at once, but, we got our food close enough together that no one complained. I would come here again if I am in the area. Especially with the outdoor seating area which was very nice.

Never Disappointed

By Hungry-volunteer |

I have never disappointed and you can't go wrong with any of the food off the menu and their coffee is also very good.

Great coffee, food, vibes

By JZontheroad |

I love finding the small, out of the way places in bigger cities. Citizen does not disappoint. Breakfast biscuit was on point. Americano great. Service fast and friendly. I'll be back again. And again.

Overpriced

By mottflame |

Asked for a glass of white wine Was served a very small glass of very average sauvignon for $9.90 by a somewhat surly young man Will not be returning.

Creative, fresh, delicious food

By JennyPeter |

We were staying at the Maxwell Pineapple Hotel and wanted a breakfast spot close by so as always I went to Tripadvisor for recommendations. We were so impressed with the reviews of Citizen Coffee that we went there our last morning. What a great decision. The food is creative, fresh, and top knotch. Wide variety from over a dozen crepes, egg dishes, and more. The coffee drinks are served with beautiful designs in the foam and although it isnt cheep, it is worth a visit. Most dished are in the $12 range which we thought wasnt bad. Great way to end our visit to Seattle!

Two thumbs UP!!

By Dawnya S |

This place is great place. We went for breakfast and was wonderful. If and when we come back to Seattle we will definitely come back! Great food!!

Tasty meal

By SpfldForestGump |

Our hotel staff had recommended this location to us. It was within walking distance and had a lunch menu with a variety of options. We had a beautiful day with 70 F and clear sky to sit outside and dine after our arrive into Seattle. Staff was friendly

Try the crepes

By Catherine C |

We shared the turkey/jam crepe and the citizen crepe and one side salad. The salad dressing is lovely. Everything we fresh and delicious. We are here for 5 days so we will come back and try the breakfast.

True Pacific NW Feel

By Daniel L |

This is the kind of place that makes me think of everything the NW is known for--creative yet familiar, edgy but casual, with great coffee and easygoing atmosphere. The menu is full of creative infusions which apparently change over time. When I went, there was an emphasis on combining Korean and Mexican food, which I found to be pleasantly unique. The restaurant is divided into two main areas, an outdoor lounge and indoor coffee shop. The outside is a perfect place to be in nice weather, in spite of the construction in SLU. Great happy hour mules, fantastic mixes and a superlatively friendly and helpful bartender, plus, free outdoor games. Love the atmosphere, perfect for almost any occasion--hanging out with a large group on a weekend, grabbing a coffee to go, working on the computer or reading a book--somewhere, here, there is a perfect corner for you. The design is very hostel/backyard feel, almost feels like going to someone's house. The coffee house itself is also very pleasant, with a mezzanine and lower bar looking out directly onto the street. Great service, good coffee, good food, perfect hangout. Highly recommend this place.

My favourite place for breakfast

By Bernie G |

This place is my favourite place for breakfast or brunch when in Seattle. It’s funky. Tucked into a side street. Small. Quaint. Cozy. Food is amazing. Large portions of quality food. Swift service. Can get very busy so be prepared to wait at times. I had the cowboy casserole, which is kind of like a frittata, served on a plate of black beans. It’s filling. Tasted great. Just what I needed on a cold Sunday morning. My partner had the French toast, which is more like a bread pudding. Served with a 3 berry compote. Both dishes are prepared in a casserole dish so they just scoop out a portion. My mouth waters when I think of it. I’ve often had the biscuits and gravy - another delight they do very well. I can’t wait to go back!

Great restaurant.....cool environment

By Richard W |

The hotel staff recommended this to us as they frequent it--always a good sign. The building looks like an older industrial type of establishment. It has an open airy feel and includes an outdoor firepit area. Service was very good. The coffee was excellent as were the breakfast crepes we had.

Early morning breakfast

By irenerabeaux855 |

We stayed at the Maxwell Hotel only a few blocks away. When we asked where can we get a good breakfast, they recommended the Citizen Coffee cafe'. Early morning service was great. Had the place all to ourselves. Interesting decor. Good food and good service.

Unexpectwd

By lesleydockree |

Don't be put off from the outside. Venture in for great food and coffee. Our server Keanu was great. I had caramelised apple and cheese crepe .... lush! The farmers breakfast too was delicious. Can't wait to go again.

Citizen Coffee so much more

By Judy5569 |

You'll probably miss Citizen Coffee if you're not looking for it. If you're in the area of the Space Needle (behind the Hampton Downtown on Fifth Avenue), it's definitely worth a visit, It's a quirky little place that is much more than a coffee house. In addition to the warmth and cheer of the staff and multiple seating areas, inside and out, you can choose from a wide array of breakfast and lunch offerings, including Cowboy egg casserole, Huevos Rancheros, Korexican Tacos, and crepes. My favorite is Citizen Crepe made with avocado, carmelized onions, roasted asparagus, apple smoked bacon, spinach and goat cheese. There are other scrumptious crepes like Mango chocolate crepe and Crepe Madame, salads and sandwiches, including a Korean Pork Sandwich, prepared with attention to the best ingredients and the international flavor of Seattle and its citizens. I'm not much of a coffee drinker ( keep that quiet in Seattle), but couldn't resist their Aloha coconut cold coffee brew with macadamia nut and chocolate or a rosemary vanilla latte. They offer spiked beers and wines as well as spoked coffees and Citizen cocktails. The Beer Garden outside with its own bar is popular even when it's not Happy Hour. There are no desserts, but who needs dessert after such a mouth-watering selection of beverages? Tofu available along with meats.

Great place before an event at McCaw Hall

By Lisa S |

Easy walking distance from McCaw Hall. Excellent coffee and food. Biscuits are a must try. Go early, especially in poor weather, since it's a small place, but worth the wait. They do have outside seating when weather permits.

Excellent beer and food

By Marla and Jeff |

We were looking for a quick bite to eat while in Seattle. We sat outside, enjoyed tasty beer, salads and sandwiches.

Amazing breakfast

By Jess N |

Went here for breakfast this morning and it was delicious! Each of us loved our meals and were so full at the end. I had the huevos rancheros and it was so good! Staff were actually quite nice as well - which is a bit challenging to find in Seattle!

A real gem

By Chris S |

We visited here for breakfast on our first Seattle morning - so enjoyable that we didn’t look for anywhere else. The huevos rancheros were tasty and well cooked, with delicious fresh avocado - recommend a side of spicy sausage to really elevate the dish. The cowboy egg casserole was outstanding - wonderful flavours and a real breakfast treat. The lighter options (we had the yoghurt parfait) were also well executed. The coffee was superb - I especially enjoyed the lavender latte, but even the americano was more than acceptable. Definitely my first choice for breakfast next time I visit the city.

Coffee Heaven

By BuffettBrink |

The best latte of all time! Rustic and comfortable ambience. Breakfast all day, great sandwiches, crepes, and a full bar - thus coffee heaven. I had the B.L.A.T. (BLT w/ avocado)- delish and my wife had a crepe - equally tasty! We stumbled across while at Chihuly Glass and Gardens. Citizen is a gem. Don’t miss it. Enjoy!!!

Breakfast done the Right Way. Come for the Crepes and enjoy the Atmosphere

By Thomas M |

What a find. Recommended by The Maxwell Hotel as a place to have breakfast on our recent visit to Seattle. The food was fantastic, fresh, quick and very happy friendly people. (Ask for Bryan, a great ambassador for the restaurant). There were 4 of us and we loved what we had. I recommend the crepes although their selection was huge. What a find a real diamond in the rough, you will not be disappointed. The coffee was in a big cup and tasted like real coffee. Gets busy quickly so obviously a lot of people know about it. I am a fan now as well.

Great ambience and excellent food.

By Richard R |

Looking for new breakfast places with friends we stumbled across Citizen. A bit out of the usual route to walk from Lake Union to downtown Seattle, it was a great find. I loved tha ambiance - small, funky - and excellent food choices. Plus there is an outdoor area that woould be a great place for drinks after a day at Seattle Center.

Yummy!!

By keat610 |

The place is cool with an industrial feel. Smelled great as soon as we walked in. Short wait but that should be expected on a Saturday at lunch time. Staff was super nice. We got the citizen sandwich and the turkey raspberry sandwich and both were delicious! Beer selection wasn't great though!

Great Experience

By RamonSalcido |

We came here to eat brunch and had a big brunch with the largest cup of coffee . The ambiance is nice and reflects the young at heart culture. Everyone is smilling and wants to serve you.

Funky place for a tasty Breakfast

By OneOfTheSisters |

We sat upstairs and really enjoyed the funky vibe of this place. The blackberry lemon crepes and french toast were excellent as was the breakfast sandwich. Great coffees and good service too.

Quirky cafe a must if in the area

By jerseyjudy_13 |

I could see the Sunday brunch crowd under umbrellas on the Citizen patio from my balcony at the Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Seattle. On closer inspection, I discovered the side beer garden with a recreational area where a bunch of guys were hanging out. The next day, I went in and was surprised at the quirky, rustic atmosphere and the selection of coffees and varied casual menu. Most impressive were the friendly servers and others dropping in at the coffee bar mid-afternoon - reflective of Seattle's laid back, welcoming culture. I'm glad I didn't judge it from the outside.

Really good food

By Sarah Elizabeth A |

Food was really good, coffee was amazing ! Wait staff was super friendly, had a little wait, but was worth it

Great Local Hangout

By JayG2720 |

We checked out Citizen while in Seattle for a cruise. Right down the street from our Hotel. Lots of outdoor seating, lots of locals there with their dogs drinking coffee or having local brews. Food and service were very good - was a great place to relax and unwind. Noticed a lot of local fire/ police going there in large groups (even a fire engine park d there once). A perfect place to immerse yourself in the local Seattle scene if visiting.

Nice Coffee and Salad, good place to hang out

By Richard A |

Citizen Coffee is located on Taylor Avenue, not too far away from Bill & Melissa Gates foundation office. The place is quite small so easy to be fully occupied during peak hours. Their coffee is nice, and the food too. Pricing is reasonable with speedy & efficient service. Ambience is good for hang out and meeting friends even though not spacious.

Casual lunch

By ALRFurLife |

A local recommended this restaurant for a lunch spot. The day we were in Seattle was very rainy so the outside portion was closed. The inside part of the restaurant is very small. There were only 2 of us so it was ok but would not have worked well for larger groups. The waiter/bartender was very friendly and attentive. The food was good. My wife had a crepe and I had a sandwich. Both of which were good. It is very eclectic food so it wouldn't appeal for everyone.

Fantastic breakfast

By mandi B |

Had a fab breakfast here. Husband had the tacos, myself and son had crepes. Huge portions, and delicious. Service was very good and loved the interior. Would definitely recommend

Love this place!

By Gregory B |

Great breakfast burrito! Coffee was very tasty. Service also excellent! Love the atmosphere too! Well done!

Quaint, fun with tasty food!

By Sarah D |

Met up with friends and family while visiting from Nashville, Tennessee. It's tight for a large group inside. They have outdoor dining when it's not raining. All of us had plenty of choices from breakfast to lunch, coffee to adult beverages! All of it was tasty, good price ranges and friendly staff.

Great food, great service

By Kellie C |

The people here are super friendly and the food was so good we returned for a second breakfast. Out hotel is surrounded by coffee shops, but not many places for a real breakfast like Citizen. They offer adventurous crepes, savory and sweet, as well as the safer Farmer's breakfast goos for kids.

Relaxing breakfast

By MNlabguy |

This cafe was recommended to our by our hotel. It was a short walk from our hotel, which means it's a short walk from the Space Needle. It's a small to modest size cafe with great service and great food. It's not a chain. We went there early on a Sunday morning. It was busy but not packed when we were there. Two of us had the Farmer's Breakfast and two had breakfast tacos. All of us really enjoyed our choices. I'll add that the bacon was fantastic, the best bacon I've ever had. Our waitress was friendly and nice and provided good service. I highly recommend!

Really Fantastic Coffee

By FOSSHILL |

Just a three day visit to Seattle and we have eaten here four times. Such great coffee. Staff are efficient, fast and friendly. Food is good but the coffee is sensational

Great breakfast place

By celine300 |

That was another tip from trip advisor and it was down the street from Staypineapple hotel which was also recommended from the hotel staff . They have outside table as well as a second floor. Great service . Their crepes and omelet are excellent .We went twice because we like it so much .

Awesome eats and good chai latte

By Elizabeth V |

We came here in the evening one night for me to grab a chai latte because other coffee shops had closed. They had just cleaned the espresso maker/frother but happily managed to whip me up a chai latte which was great. Bonus for me is that they had dairy alternatives which is most appreciated. We came back for lunch the next day because it was close to our hotel and we had been running around sightseeing. We ate outside which was a cute little area and our server was great - very friendly and patient. Everyone was happy with their meals including my two teens. I had a Vietnamese style taco which was amazing - great flavor. Granted we had been walking a ton and I was starving but it hit the spot! The menu was eclectic but still mixed with typical flavors/foods like the taco and the BBQ pulled pork so easy to find something in my opinion. If you have a really picky eater just check menu in advance in case.

Best food we had in Seattle.

By Ducky M |

My wife and I stayed in Seattle as part of our vacation in 2018, and the place we kept going back to was Citizen. The food was great, the green tea matcha was the bomb, and the book pages for wallpaper was a cool touch. We are going on another vacation out of Seattle again in 2023, and you best bet we will be stopping at Citizen Coffee.

Interesting Menu and Tasty Food

By tom m |

Picked the Citizen Coffee due to the interesting menu. I started with the Rooftop Brewery IPA which was quite fruity and enjoyed the Savory Oaxcan Mole Tacos with sweet potatoes hash which were very interesting, delicious but very hot. She had the southwest chopped salad which was fresh and delicious. Friendly service and interesting food and beer made this an enjoyable experience

Didn’t stay - still loved it

By Willem K |

I stayed at the Four Points down the street and walked past. Loved the alternative, outdoors area. They let you bring in your own food. Loved the bar too - very friendly folks. Sadly couldn’t stay as I needed dinner and they weren’t serving food at the time.

Great place to eat

By kjc1730 |

Close to the Staypineapple in walking distance. Offer breakfast and lunch menu. Has outdoor area to eat too. Very quaint place to go to.

Lunch and a follow-up for a to go order.

By Stuart K |

We stopped here at the recommendation of the hotel receptionist. The restaurant is one block away. Dinner was delightful. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining. We shared the Citizen crepe the Mushroom crepe the Pesto. All were excellent. We will be back.

Amazing food amazing service

By youmeandher |

Can’t thank Keanu enough. He offered amazing service! The crepes are a must, especially the savoury ones.

Not your grandma’s breakfast

By Kent M |

The menu is a refreshing fresh play breakfast ingredients. The service was prompt and our server was very helpful. We will return.

Nice Dinner

By William S |

Citizen Coffee is a restaurant, not a coffee shop. It has a large, fun outdoor area as well as indoor seating and two floors inside. This makes it sound large than it is. There are fire pits outdoors for cool weather. The menu includes tacos, salads, sandwiches and crepes along with a decent wine and beer selection including a few craft beers. I had the pesto turkey sandwich which had great flavor and was nicely prepared. Negatives - no sides, the internet wasn’t working nor was the credit card terminal. The service was fast and thorough though with a bit much of the “happy attitude” which feels fake. I enjoyed the evening, regardless. Prices are modest.

Venue fun but that was highpoint

By Soonkeum |

The Citizen Coffee House is fun funky Seattle. The service was good and staff friendly but the food was disappointing. I ordered eggs over easy and they were definitely more like well done. I requested the potatoes to be extra crispy and they were exactly the same as other potatoes served at our table. I could live with that but they were cold. To be fair when i mentioned this to our waiter she comped my husband's extra gravy. Maybe we just went on an off day.

Twice in One Trip

By Jenn R |

We had such an amazing breakfast at Citizen Coffee, that we went back the next morning and we all ordered the same thing. We never do this on trips as we like to try new restaurants, but this was a good exception to make. I had the SAGE latte and it was unique and delicious. I also had the blackberry crepes with lemon yogurt and a side of a fried egg. My daughter had the huevos rancheros and my son had the biscuits and gravy. The servings were generous and we started our touring with full and happy bellies.

Love the food and the local feel!

By Rhonda P |

My husband and I were visiting Seattle for the weekend. We were in search of a place that was near the MoPOP Museum where we could grab a quick bite. I have a special food regime--gluten free, dairy and soy free too and a few other things. Hubby found Citizen Coffee on travelocity and I reviewed the menu. After seeing that the restaurant had local coffee and gluten free options we decided to head there. It was definitely worth the walk. And I am a sucker for local restaurants with a local vibe supporting local businesses. The walk wasn't too long but it was chilly that day and it started raining a little but we made it. We ended up finding a few other sites along the way too! When we arrived there were a lot of locals there and it was a friendly inviting atmosphere. I got the featured latte--it was a vanilla rosemary latte with hemp milk. Hubby got a hot chocolate. I ordered a salad and hubby got a sandwich. We loved it all! Allergy friendly and great customer service with a positive vibe!

Great Creperie

By Ron Runner |

Try their savory crepes - they are very good. Service was very friendly and the entire experience was very good.

Great breakfast

By margstrash |

Citizen crepe and Henry’s scramble were very good. Staff very friendly. To me this is more of a neighborhood hangout vs where you go with large group or even folks who might have issues with steps. Rustic inside. I think there were only 2 tables for 2 on first floor then lots of counter seating looking out window. Don’t hesitate to go, food and service were very good, just don’t think typical restaurant.

Awesome fast breakfast

By sybil_unrest |

The front desk staff at Maxwell Hotel directed us to Citizen for breakfast when we rolled up super early, having disembarked from our cruise at 7 am. Excellent recommendation! Breakfast was fast and delicious, and a bit of a bargain. So good we went back the next day, when we were really crunched for time (and on a Saturday at 11 am to boot), and were in and out in 25 minutes without ever feeling rushed. Highly recommend.
