Very good restaurant in the heart of Chinatown. Abundant and quality flow rates. Fast and thoughtful Service. Try it!

Very nice food with quality dim sum and other dishes. Service was ok although the Mood is alive that it should progress. There's no need to talk over your last drink. Still a tasty recommendation.

We arrived 5 minutes before opening on a Sunday morning. The restaurant opened promptly at 10AM as scheduled and we were quickly sat. The servers started bringing out the dim sum about five minutes after we sat and they continuously brought out fresh and varying dim sum throughout our time there. We tried 12 different plates and not one of them disappointed. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and distinctive from one another. Expect all of the classics and then some. They even have plenty of choices for vegetarians. Service was prompt. The manager approached our table at the end of our meal and was genuinely interested in our experience and was very kind. The head hostess as well was very kind. Overall a phenomenal dining experience. In a city that boasts endless dim sum options, this place rises above the rest. Clean, delicious, friendly. A must try!

Husband and I got there about 10:30 on a Saturday morning, no rezzies (we tried but communication breakdown) and got a table immediately. Loved the ladies with carts and ended up eating waaaaay too much. Best shrimp rolls, pork buns, duck with steamed bun and so many others. I tried chicken feet because I watch too many Bizzare Foods episodes and had to check them out but not for me. Everything else was though! Ate about 12-14 plates with beers and spent about $75, but we were more than full and had some to take with us. We definitely could have gotten out cheaper but hey, we wanted to try it all and San Francisco is not a cheap food town. We drive to SF to eat, and City View was a great find with tasty dim sum you can’t get anywhere in Santa Cruz county.

I've eaten dim sum my entire life. My kids have eaten dim sum their entire lives. This was really good dim sum. Enough to be said. The lineups outside are worth it. It's not the cheapest dim sum, but the variety is really good, and it's always fun eating off the carts. Go early -- or it's going to be ugly.....

We were so happy with everything about this restaurant! The atmosphere was delightful, the staff were welcoming, and the food was irresistible. We ordered a vast quantity of different items from the menu (because we couldn't make up our minds) and literally everything was excellent. Easily the best Chinese food I've ever eaten.

This restaurant in Chinatown was awesome. We enjoyed it so much, with carts coming by if Dim sum & just selecting what you want to try. Loved trying the different tastes, but it all looked so good, you have to be very careful not to select more than you can eat. We wanted someplace different to eat on our Anniversary so this was perfect!

Beware of imitations or high priced, over engineered knockoffs! Real dim sum is something you grab off a rolling cart before someone else takes it. This s the real deal, plus an excellent kitchen to supplement the mobile delights with whatever tickles your fancy. The location on Commercial Street (not easy to find) guarantees that the crowd here is knowledgeable abut dumplings and comes here with a purpose. Reasonably priced and good for families.

Great place for wonderful dim sum. Trolley after trolley loaded with scrumptious offerings. Very reasonable.

Have had Dim sum as a family in Hong Kong, Sydney, London and San Francisco. While City View was not on top, it was still very good. Shanghai dumplings, shu mai, bbq pork buns, shrimp dumplings, etc. all very good, hot and fresh. Was a typical, nicer than normal Dim Sum restaurant. We really enjoyed it and would go back when in SF.

Well deserved TripAdvisor rating. The food and service was excellent. We arrived at 12:00 and had no wait for a table for five, bit by 1:15 a line had formed in the front. It would be worth the wait for the delicious food. Leave room at the end for the mango pudding.

Very good dim sum. Trolley service was a great addition to the fun. They had all the standard dim sum dishes (siu mai, spring rolls, char siu buns, etc) but some exciting different things too. Would highly recommend. Expect a wait at the door - very popular!

I have been looking forward to this for weeks. It didn't disappoint (for me). We were a group of four, two couples. We arrived about 11:15 on a Friday and the place was mostly empty (yet) so we were seated immediately. It quickly filled up as we ate. As soon as we sat down the carts started coming and we simply said "yes" to pretty much everything! Everything was hot, tasty and fresh. I wasn't thrilled with the shrimp dumpling, but loved everything else we tried (I can't remember what I all had anymore). The other three were a little less enthusiastic about it all than I was........one admitting he doesn't like Chinese (he could have said something earlier) and my hubby just saying "eh". Well, I'd go again in a heartbeat.

We tried many delicious dishes at City View Restaurant for a dim sum lunch. We arrived right around 11am when they opened and by 12pm the place was packed! The servers push around carts with various dishes in them and stop by your table to see if you want anything from the cart. Since my husband and I had never tried dim sum before, we didn't know what a lot of the dishes were... some of the servers spoke better english than others and would help explain what the food was, but for those who spoke little english some of the dishes we tried were a complete surprise! Every thing was very good- i think my favorite was the pork dumpling! The only down-side is that there are no prices listed, so your bill is sort of a surprise when you are done eating. I think we tried about 7 dishes total and our lunch for two was around ~$40.

If you're a Dim Sum fan this is a must do. Located in the Financial District, City View is only open for lunch and typically the sidewalk is occupied with those waiting for a table, so show up early. The Dim Sum is fresh, well prepared and includes all of the standards. The BBQ pork buns, shrimp dumplings and sticky rice are all particularly good. Unlike the name, there is no view, but the food is worth the trip and the wait.

Saw the reviews so decided to come try the dim sum. I'm Chinese and had dim sum everywhere in the US and in Hong Kong. The food was solidly good, not great. Was also quite expensive as it was about $100 total for 2 adults and 3 kids and it wasn't like we ordered a lot. The biggest issue was the surprise we found in our dumpling. I've worked in Chinese restaurants before so I know the cleanliness level is never great. However, finding a 4 inch long hair inside your pork dumpling is pretty bad! It's been a while since we've encountered that in a Chinese restaurant so it was certainly a huge disappointment considering the great ratings of this place.

They're Dim Sum is the best I've ever had. OMG-amazing!!! The two of us may have eaten a bit too much but, ohwell?! So damn good!! Very quick so don't worry about a bit of a wait-enjoy the people watching and pre-eating? They bring food around to you and just let you figure out what you want, etc. Such a great variety and such great food!!

Solid dim sum restaurant. In order of preference we had the following 1) Peking duck buns. 2) wontons in chili oil 3) shanghai dumplings 4) pork su mai. 5) prawn dumplings

Not whatv you ecpect when you walk into a Chineese restaurant. It's a little foo foo New York upscale but the food snd prices are good. We started with the dim sum , all of them! They were all fantastic, the brown rice and shrimp superb. The boneless spare ribs were some if the best I've had. Waiters and waitresses were great and very friendly. The manager was attentive Looks like a pretty good after work hang out spot as well..go

Be prepared to wait as we waited an hour to be seated, however the food and service were wonderful! Fun eating in Chinatown for a dim sum experience.

If you’re a dim sum fanatic then you HAVE to go here. They have so many different types and they are all so good! You cannot go wrong. We loved this place!

Very good food and fast service. Maybe it is hard to find bad Dim Sum in San Francisco but this was a block from Hilton FiNDiST so we tried it and we'd go back. Good variety of items.

Delicious food! To be honest, the dumplings I ate at this restaurant were the better I had ever eaten. Fast service. We were 9 people and everyone was served at the same time. The interior of the restaurant roomy and the big round tables are suitable for a lunch with several friends. However, we asked for some sauce twice and we are still waiting for it.

We took our sons and adult grandkids here on Tuesday -- got there just in time to get a table for 6 (they close at 2 after lunch). We ordered from the Dim Sum options as well as chow Mein. Everything was delicious, perfect for sharing -- the garlic green beans were amazing and every dumpling we tried was delicious. (Shrimp with walnuts - yum!) The manager was very gracious and checked on us. Service was timely. We had a special lunch and everyone wants to come back!

The best dim sum I’ve ever had was at Dim Sum #1 in Hong Kong! I can say with confidence this place was very close to my experience in Hong Kong! I recommend all dim sum lovers to visit this place! They have a menu and also got people bringing delicious food on a tray to your table! Enjoy it you won’t be disappointed

Outstanding Dim Sum with larger than usual shrimp dumplings and shrimp with chive. I liked spinach steamed dumplings, my partner thought they were just ok. Sticky rice was tasty but small portion. Turnip cake was tender. Loved it. We will be back. It's in the middle of the block, look up to see sign. Can't see inside. A bit confusing.

4 adults and 2 8 year olds ate here as we toured Chinatown There is a huge selection and prompt service. I really enjoyed several foods, others I found were just fair I did have to bargain a bit about the price as the house was about to charge me for 6 people, It was negotiated for 5 as two 8 year olds probably consumed as much as a 16 year old..

We were looking forward to have dim sum in San Francisco chinatown and were not disspointed. This lunch was a very fun and tasty experience for all the family, there are a lot of choices and the staff were happy to explain what's in each dish. Ask them to write the prices on the paper they stamp each time you pick something from the trolley because there in no way to tell how much the meal is going to cost.

We visited at the MOST busy time. The chaos was a bit frustrating. HOWEVER, the staff members were efficient and pleasant. The food? SO worth it! All together, it was a Chinatown experience not to be missed.

Very clean upscale restaurant in China Town excellent service very friendly servers.Food choices very good and prices reasonable.

Have been here every time I come to San Francisco. Always good food, great dining room. Lots to choose from. If you have never had dim sum before, ask for a menu and you can see all the dishes and order from the menu instead. We love the sticky rice, shrimp pockets and pork buns. Sesame balls for dessert. Yummy!

Went here because of the good reviews. Service was ok, but they seemed to start to run out if things by 1230pm, a little strange. Got the check and was astounded. Hard to read but I'm oretty sure we paid $7.50 for a coke and total of $60 for 3 people. Food was excellent but we paid $10 each for one selection and $7 for another small portion. Check before selecting.

Fantastic dim sum in china town San Francisco, the food is fresh and tasty, it’s an authentic trolley choice, the staff are helpful. Get there early for lunch ideally 1130/45 or you’ll be queuing out the door and up the street I’d go back tomorrow if I could...Just don’t look at the carpet!!!

We visited this highly rated restaurant for dim sum and it exceeded all expectations. Don’t overlook the shrimp dumplings or the crab … delicious and chock full of fresh seafood.

Service was fast and furious :) We love us some Dim Sum and weren't disappointed! Be ready to order or try new things as it comes at you in a hurry. Wait staff was pleasant and prompt.

Born and lifelong San Franciscan, I recently discovered City View Restaurant when it was recommended. Our party of three went for Dim Sum on a Thursday at 11 a.m. We had BBQ Pork Buns (new style), Peking Duck with buns, Crab Claw, Walnut Shrimp, Shrimp Dumplings, and Custard Buns. I loved the ambiance and interior. The service was great and dishes came out readily. - New Style BBQ Pork Buns. This is the only place I know that has new-style BBQ Bork Buns. It was my first time having this, and I love them! The dough is more of a biscuit than the steamed buns and baked BBQ Buns (I love all three different types of buns and eat them based on what I'm longing for). They're filled with delicious BBQ meat. - Peking Duck. A must! - Crab Claw. A must! A real piece of crab wrapped in a thick crab mixture with a fried exterior. - Walnut Shrimp. A must! - Shrimp Dumplings - delicious, but they're just as delicious at other Dim Sum restaurants. - The Custard Buns are a sweet dessert filled with creamy sweet custard vs. the solid custard of other Custard Buns I've had before. I plan on taking my family and friends to this and will plan to order all the same stuff (except shrimp dumplings, though delicious, can be had at other Dim Sum restaurants), plus try more new stuff! Sorry, no pics. I only thought about reviewing and taking pics AFTER we gobbled it all!

The best dim sum in SF. The quality is really excellent. Fresh moist seafood make the shrimp dumplings fantastic and the best pork in the pork buns are a real treat as well. We loved the sui mai and save room for the delicious custard treats at the end. The staff and owner are friendly and helpful and we follow them to their new digs in Chinatown.

Fast service, great food, lots of options even for vegetarians. They can accommodate non chopstick users.

We were advisef by S F natives that this restaurant was good for dim sum lunch. It is extremely popular and you cannot reserve a table. There is a wait of 20-30 mins. Once seated, it is really difficult to put together a lunch plate. I have no idea what dishes were on offer and which dishes i actually chose.none was memorable. Would not recommend unless you are a native speaker

We regularly eat dim sum in Los Angeles and have also eaten it in China and thought we would have a very favorable experience in China Town in San Francisco. The staff was pleasant but the food was sub par. I would definitely suggest anyone visiting China Town to choose a different restaurant.

Went on the recommendation of local friends. It was pretty good dim sum though our table made it hard to for the cart folks to explain what they had to offer.

We visited City View at 11:30 am on a Friday. We walked right in and got a nice table by the window. The restaurant wasn't yet crowded and the carts were full of hot, fresh choices. We went a little overboard with our party of five: pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, bbq pork buns, scallion pancakes, chicken feet, and several sweet items. We picked about 15 dishes total and the bill was $100...a bit of a shock, thought it would be closer to $70, but maybe I'm still thinking about Hong Kong prices in the 1990s (I used to live there). By the time we were done, at 12:45, the place was full and there was a short line but nobody was pressuring us to leave and we finished our tea. Overall, the quality of the food was good, although my kids thought the chicken feet were a little soggy. Authentic, fun, and tasty.

First we went to the wrong place, ( the old one out of business) then we went to the new one on a few blocks distance. The place did not look as we expected, they chose the wrong colors for their deco. When the menu arrived, a small plastic cheap looking menu like in a fast food place, we got worried! But with the first bite from the Dim Sum we were in heaven!! We ordered as much as we could handle, oh boy!!!! this was the most sophisticated dim sum we ever had, the looks, the smell, the colors, the refined taste! Thank you so much for un unforgettable culinary experience!

We arrived at 11:00 on a Saturday and made it just in time as there was only a 5-minute wait. Just a half hour later the line was getting long but it did seem to move fast. This was recommended to us by a local as being the best dim sum in the Financial District and they weren't lying - it was fantastic and authentic! The soup dumplings are not to be missed. We were told to order the eggplant as it is something different and not something you would see in most dim sum restaurants - it was a big bowl with tofu and shrimp cakes - great recommendation! All of their dumplings were fantastic. If you aren't seeing something come by on a cart, ask for it and they will bring it to your table in a few minutes. When you see reviews of slow service, etc ... remember, this is a dim sum restaurant. The food comes out as it comes out from the kitchen. This isn't like a typical restaurant where you order off a menu. We have had a lot of dim sum over the years - try this place out, especially for brunch!

Read about this rating and decided to make a trip to try. Dumpling skin is too thick, lack finesse of the Cantonese art of Dim Sum. Salty and lack texture. Won’t go again given the price vs quality.

My husband and I love to go to the out-of-the-way, non-touristy places-- but were a little concerned during COVID to go to one of the smaller, older, more crowded Dim Sum restaurants. City View had good reviews and seemed more spacious. It was a great choice. Clean, spacious, calm atmosphere. DELICIOUS food. Friendly wait staff. Perfect!

I went here with some friends at lunch time and immediately got seated with a group of 3. This was my first time being at a dim sum restaurant so I was overwhelmed at first. But there were so many options and all of them were so good! We went at the end of their lunch time so unfortunately they were out of two things. The chicken steamed buns were the best out of everything we got. Also it was all so affordable for how much food we ordered!

We arrived a bit late at 1:30 and they were starting to shut down the Dim Sum train (even though the web said it lasted until 3 pm). We ordered a table full of dishes and they were delivered a few at a time. Only a few things were not available.

Good variety of standard dim sum dishes. Expect a wait, though. Once seated a parade of dishes flows past with regularity. Choose your dishes, get your ticket stamped, eat. The servers seemed to really push the dishes but once you choose the dessert dish, your ticket is dashed off in a flash with a return bill...they want you out of there to fill the spot you occupy. I'm not sure if you can even order off a menu but I did see tables with larger than dim sum plates, so I assume so. I would return. Very affordable for San Francisco.

Looking for something different for a change, we had a family birthday celebration at City View Restaurant at San Francisco. It has been a long time since we been to City View Restaurant and it was treat to go back again. Steamed BBQ Pork Bun - the BBQ sauce was tasty and the bun was sweet. Chicken Feet - the plump skin was juicy and chewy with right amount of marinade. Vegetable Spring Roll - the fresh ingredients were crunchy. Tofu Skin Roll - the skin was soft and delicate holding crunchy bamboo shoots and fresh bean sprouts. Mushroom Dumplings - soft mushrooms with great flavor inside the dumpling. Shrimp & Chive Dumplings - good succinct shrimp and fragrant chives inside the dumpling. BBQ Pork Rice Noodle Roll - it was so delicious that we ordered more the next time the cart came by again. Sticky Rice Wrap in Lotus Leaf - very good ingredients. Stuffed Crab Claw - good size and satisfying. Shanghai Siu Lung Bao - good meat, but not enough soup inside dumpling. We went for a family member birthday luncheon, but it is great DIM SUM FOR ALL OCCASIONS... at City View Restaurant.

This is the most inaptly named restaurant I have ever been to. It is on the ground floor and has zero windows! Food was ok, but name was greatly misleading!

Was visiting for Xmas, took my teenage son for his first Dim Sum experience! It was really busy and we waited about 10 min for a table! Jr enjoyed his duck and I loved the shrimp/chives! Plenty of choices and good prices, we left pleased and stuffed! Would highly recommend 😊

We stumbled onto this place and it was fun. The servers come around with dishes and you pick what you want. It is totally Dim Sum and you don't know the prices! We ate all that we could and enjoyed the variety of dishes. The dishes were good but not over the top delicious. It was fun and entertaining for us but probably will not return.

Good option for Dim Sum in the city. The price is right! Gets very busy over lunch. Reservations are accepted!

I found this restaurant to be...just ok but definitely enough to fill me up. I think I was just expecting something a bit different. None of the flavors seemed to “pop” with me. My son liked it. Maybe you will too.

Loved everything we tried! We had a bit of a wait to get a table, but not bad at all (considering the lunch rush and their popularity). Wished we could have gone back a second time!

We stopped here for dim sum at around 1 pm. It was busy but a table was available and we were seated quickly. The trolley came around and we selected a number of dishes. My favourite were the glazed walnut prawns, pan fried chive dumplings and sesame chicken. Be warned, despite being open and serving dim sum till 2.30, the trolley stops much sooner- although you can order off the menu. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience.

Compared to other Dim Sum restaurants I have been in NYC this place is expensive. Quality of food is good but service it s just OK as the place is very crowded with customers. Be prepared to wait in line for a while before you get a table.

One of the best dim sum places we've been to and we've been to quite a few. A little off the beaten path but definitely worth it! Excellent choices and great service.

The place was recommended by our concierge and it was exactly what we were looking for. A very good dim sum place (only open for lunch) in a relatively neutral setting with quick service and dim sum on carts. Food 5 stars, atmosphere 4 stars, hence only 4 stars overall

This restaurant serves standard dim sum. They offer lots of different choices, and the items are served from steam carts. The service and food is good. The atmosphere is fairly casual. The prices are quite reasonable.

The Dim Sum that was available was good! But where is the other half of the traditional dim sum menu? Despite the lack of variety, this is a popular spot with a line outside. All Asian restaurants, please clean the bathrooms!

Had lunch here with a college friend on a Friday afternoon at the height of the lunch hour. Wait for a table of two was only about 15 minutes. After that, the food was brought by cart and we picked our dishes. I was very happy with the Chinese vegetables and eggplant with tofu - a nice change of pace from all of the very good dumplings we had. Bill was less than $50 for the two of us, which is great when compared to some of the other dim sum restaurants in the City. Well worth a visit.

great way to sample as many dim sums you want as you can see them visually too. food good though their soup dumpling has a way to go to match DTF

I'm warning everyone that we were scammed. They brought us the wrong bill and later returned with the same one, saying they made a mistake and canceled it, and demanded we pay a new one! As soon as they saw we were foreigners they scammed us!!!

We had 3 friends for dim sum and it was delicious. Very clean restaurant with great service. We loved all the dumplings, vegetable, pork and shrimp. Very fun restaurant to visit in San Francisco. We found it in the lonely planet pocket guide and will go back Next time in San Fran.

Came first thing on Sunday morning in August, no wait. 2 adults 3 kids. We loved it. Soup dumpling is amazing. Stay away from the chicken feet. Too many options too little time. Save room for dessert. The "donuts" are amazing and the custard pies are awesome.

Came here on a Sunday around noon without reservations. We had a party of 6 adults and 2 children and were seated in about 20 minutes. Service was fast paced, and we failed to get the attention of several carts. The items we really liked were either harder to get or less frequent, like the duck. The children were happy with all the variety. It was my dad's first experience with dim sum, and he enjoyed it. I'd say to plan parking before you got here, especially if you are tourists. We lucked out and got a pay meter spot up the hill. The bathroom is downstairs, down a long hall. To all the moms with little ones, there was no changing station.

We came for Dim Sum and went back two more times before heading home. Delicious food and fast service. One of the servers recognized us and suggested things we hadn’t tried. He was super helpful suggesting things we should do while visiting the city. The green onion pancakes are especially delicious, but really everything was. A must when visiting San Francisco.

We stopped in on a weekend morning and found we had beat the rush. We got sat right away and the service was excellent. The Dim Sum was really good, lots of options, and they came around often. Reasonably priced for Dim Sum. This place got really busy fast, so better to get there early. Highly recommended.

We have been here on many occasions and would have given a 5 star rating, at least until this visit. The quality in all of our 4 orders seemed a bit lacking in freshness. However, there is not a better dim sum restaurant in San Francisco.

This was an interesting visit. First thing I'll say is don't let the name fool you. The only city view you see is the other side of the street. He food here is mostly nice. You need to know this before you go; you don't order food. The waiters come around with trays full of certain dishes and you pick and choose what you want (a bit like Yo Sushi). You can order for a specific dish to be made however. Also, there are no prices on the menus etc but it was reasonably priced. I felt the whole situation, although a fun experience, needed explaining to us as it wasn't and there was no signs etc anywhere. Also our cheque was whisked away before we were actually finished meaning we couldn't eat anything else and had to rush to pay.

Don't be afraid of the lines of customers waiting to get in. The wait time is usually only 15-20 minutes and worth the wait! The restaurant isn't fancy and the tables are set close together but the Dim Sum is excellent. On our visit, the carts were coming out with fresh choices quickly. We loved the sesame chicken and the steamed buns/pork buns were fresh and tasty. Plan on spending an average of about $20 per person. Parking is pretty scarce.

I chose this spot because I like dim sum that has cart service and many places don’t do the carts anymore. Two of us went at 12:30pm on a Sunday and I was worried we’d have a long wait but we were seated in 5 minutes. The selection was wide and great flavors and freshness. Different options than I’ve not had at other dim sum spots so nice to try new things. The bill seemed just a bit high, but that didn’t bother me. I am glad we went here and was not disappointed. No real charm or atmosphere and it is loud, but we came solely for the dim sum.

This place serves dishes up until you cannot eat them anymore. All different types of dim sum were served and they were perfectly done. Appetizers were good and the specialties were great. This was an authentic Chinese restaurant where you do not order from a menu but rather from the trays which are brought to your table. My concierge recommended this place and I am glad that they did. Busy place so get a reservation especially on a Saturday afternoon.

We came here on a Sunday for traditional Dim Sum and were not disappointed! It was absolutely the best dim sum we have ever had. I'd recommend getting in line early. We arrived 20 minutes before opening and were about 25th in line.

We loved the authentic and clean feel of the establishment. Food was delicious and staff attentive. If you didn't know what something was, they eagerly explained to you. If you want something that isn't on the cart, they will gladly prepare for you. Wide variety and selection, one of the highlights of our trip to San Francisco

Second visit & still amazed at the great selection & service. Drove from San Jose to Chinatown, just to eat lunch here! Always very crowded, so I recommend reservations. Parking garage, one block away. After lunch, visit some of the unique alleys of Chinatown.

We were there on a Sunday morning not long after they open, so we didn't have to wait for a table. I like the traditional way of them serving dim sums in carts. The dim sum ladies pushing the carts told us what dim sums they had in there. This brought back childhood memories. We couldn't order too many dishes to try because there were only two of us. The dim sums we tried were fresh and delicious. I would go there again if I am in the city.

Great lunch, first meal upon arrival in San Francisco. Hit the spot. I think next time I may order some of the dim sum off the menu rather than waiting for the carts to come around. I find I end up eating too many things I didn’t really want From the carts because I was hungry and impatient. Better to order exactly what you want and get it super fresh. Can’t wait to go back.

The wedding was on Friday, so we went to City View Restaurant on a Saturday morning around 11 am. There were about six people, including the newlyweds. Dim Sum was the perfect after wedding festivities place to go. We only had to wait a little while and were seated. Immediately we were offered tea and water. Then the carts started coming by loaded with delicious tidbits. I had no idea what I was eating, but it was all good. The best I could do was not choose items that had pork or meat in them to stay somewhat within my modified diet. One thing that was delicious were little triangles or rectangles that looked like pizza but we're deep fried chicken, flattened out. There were many vegetable delicacies too. I decided to just eat and not care too much what things were called. I might take some time and look up what is usually served at dim sum and see if I recognize anything! It was pretty noisy and fast paced and we had fun. No real conversations, just appreciative murmurs over the food! The meal ended when the dessert cart came by and choices of pudding-like desserts were offered. I had coconut, which was very good. My daughter, the bride, had green tea. She offered me a taste and it, too, was delicious. Others passed on dessert. The check came quickly, and we were soon on our way. I recommend City View for a great dim sum experience. My advice is to just taste and enjoy! And plan on a crazy good time!. It is perfectly acceptable to point at what you would like to try or just nod when it is described. It truly is an exercise of letting go of any control issues one might have! It was great fun for me to have plates appear and disappear, replaced by other treats. I guarantee you'll have fun. I was very full when I left, but surprisingly, I was hungry later. So don't fret about eating too much. They really are small portions of lovely food. It only seems like much because of the large variety.

The restaurant is very busy but the service was good. The selection is good, but they had run out of egg tarts and still had 3 hours until the end of service.

This is a very good Chinese restaurant. Decor is very nice. Service is very good. It is dim sum style. No more carts being pulled around, but you order at your table and they bring each order to your table when it is ready. Egg rolls, spinach bun, lava custard, and sesame chicken were very good, as was a red bean paste bun. Service was very good and prices were pretty good. Definitely recommend.

We used to enjoy the old City View, but we won't visit the new one again. Prices have doubled, and the quality has plummeted. The XO noodles were dry with an awful burned sauce, and there were no fried har gao at all. The charge for tea for two is now $5. Everything must now be ordered sight unseen from the menu; nothing is presented on carts anymore. The ladies restroom required a code to enter, despite being INSIDE the restaurant, and there were no paper towels. There are now plenty of better places for dim sum in San Francisco.

They bring out the food with the cart which is the traditional way and I like it so much! The food is good.

Located one block from the Transamerica Pyramid. It was summer and the tourist season, so a wait for a table took 30 minutes during the lunch rush. Select your dim sum choice from the rolling carts. The dessert tray contains works of art. Recommend the Custard Bun – it melts in your mouth. Never received my hot water or fork – must have been lost in translation.

We were very happy with the dim sum here it was delicious and very authentic. The restaurant was stylish and very busy full of locals. My only disappointment is they haven’t brought the trolleys back!

Very good food, barely set down and food was coming from all sides. Enjoyed it so much we went there 2 times during our stay in SF. Would recommend.

We didn't knew about this restaurant, we just have seen al lot of people waiting outside en went to see what's going on. WOW!!! It was good!!! So tasty food! And very quick service. Min point - we had a feeling that they want us to leave to make a place for next client. They asked a few times "have you done? Do you want the bill?" Very strange and unprofessional.

They weren't doing cart service anymore when we arrived. We were seated quickly and the food was quick. The BBQ pork dumplings were good. Sesame chicken was standard. We had two other chicken dishes which were ok. Nothing was terrible, just wasn't anything to write home about.

I've always gone to Yank Sing for my Dim Sum fix when visiting San Francisco. But with good reviews and close proximity to our hotel, we opted to try City View. I have to say we were a bit disappointed. On the plus side, everything was hot and fresh. The Shanghai soup dumplings, turnip cake and barbecue pork bun were as good as my favorite dim sum places at home in Chicago - but the other dishes were below average. And the shrimp har gow were the worst I've ever had - the oddest consistency to the filling. For my money, we'll go back to Yank Sing when next in town.

Loved this place. The food was so good and clean. They had a lot of variety and had people pushing the carts. Highly recommend.

Real local secret, get there early to skip queues. Delicious dim sum, super fast experience, full of locals. Loved it! Even tastier than it looks.

Lovely restaurant across from a small park…very helpful & friendly staff! Food was absolutely delicious! We especially enjoyed the walnut shrimp & garlic green beans! Would definitely return & recommend!

The food was pretty good. Most of it is cooked in peanut oil, so those with allergies should stay away.

Delicious dim sum- large selection . Freshly made. Friendly service. Very crowded so get there early-

We ordered a wide range of items- scallop siu mai, stuffed eggplant and tofu, Shanghai Siu Long bao, shrimp and chives dumpling, steamed barbecue pork bun, and black bean spareribs. I would order everything again- except for the spareribs, which were 99% cartilage and fat.

Our favorite for Dim Sum, next to Hong Kong. Due to COVID, their menu is limited, but still a good selection which to chose from. I'll start with the only complaint in our order, the Shrimp Dumpling. The shrimp was huge, but the dough casing was to thick and tough. Just slightly above average in my opinion. The BBQ pork Bun, Chicken Feet, and Spinach Dumpling were very good. The highlight, and our favorite, was Stuffed Eggplant and Tofu. This dish is excellent. A definite must visit, and of course, we will return. For a double order of Eggplant and Tofu.

The carts we're frequent, plentiful and great selection. The deep fry selection excellent, the steam cart had all the standard fare and frequently often. Tasty all the way thru and good staff. The restrooms a bit old but clean enough.

We’ve had many different dim sum: they were all in best quality. Also the buns and the desserts. Fast and efficient service, attentive staff- what else can one wish for?

You can’t make a reservation so come early and come hungry! The selection is huge, fresh and constantly changing. We did not have a single thing that was not excellent.

My daughter knows her dim sum and she choose this restaurant. We were both very pleased with the selections available and the service. There were so many choices. We would definitely return.

The dim sum here is fresh - almost, almost as good as the Michelin starred Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong. But you don't need a passport to come here. There are still carts roaming the restaurant, but it may be faster and more specific if you ask for your favorites to be delivered to the table. This way you don't have to wait for the cart to come back around again.

Had late lunch with a colleague at City View Restaurant and we really enjoyed very good dim sum there, even at the tale end of lunch. City View Restaurant is on the edge of Chinatown, a bit off the main path, but very much worth a visit. It offers a great range of Chinese food and offers dim sum on wheels during the lunch hour. We got there late and caught the tail end of the dim sum, so we also ordered a few items of the menu. Overall the food was very good - flavorful and well prepared. One or two dishes were a slight letdown but then some of the other dishes were fantastic. The restaurant is busy, both with tourist and locals, creating a fun atmosphere. Service was as expected, functional and efficient, but not particularly friendly. Would happily eat at City View again!

While I moan about the disappearance of dim sum carts, Having slightly fresher food from the kitchen, rather than touring long distances around the dining room before it gets to you. Service is quick and we’ll done. Except they quoted a 20 minute wait for XO noodles. I really liked the shrimp dumplings. Every thing else was good. Four stars. We will return

Average quality- if compared to NYC or HK. Prices were quite high for dimsum but seemed average in san francisco. Open only a few hours from 10-2:30. The service though is amazing. They are very attentive, very few locals eating there. Seemed like more tourist friendly.

As someone who makes it a point to check out dimsum restaurants in each city we visit, we decided to check out City View given the TripAdvisor reviews. We were very disappointed with our visit to City View. Typical dimsum items with no real winners. More disappointing was the fact that the service was atrocious here. We lined up at 9:45AM before the restaurant opened at 10AM. There was a small line already but we were seated as soon as the restaurant opened at 10AM. This is a traditional cart pushing dimsum restaurant. We found that we waited 30 minutes before any carts made their way to our table despite making numerous requests to the servers that we had no seen a single cart go past us. Would not recommend.

If you like your lunch in the fastest time possible then this is a winner! The food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed it, but it was shoved at you so quickly it was crazy. I had to visit the ladies when we entered the restaurant, and by the time I got back maybe 4 minute later, the others had been harried to order drinks and already had 5 or 6 small dishes in the table! It was all very tasty and our San Franciscan friends enjoyed it - and its been years since they did dim sum. My only criticisms were the overly fast slightly pushy service, and they really need to have the carpets cleaned in there

The quality of yum cha / dim sim were good. Examples are the filling of the siu mai, and the pastry skins of the dumplings being quite thin. However, selection is very limited, especially on desserts, examples are lack of sesame rolls and coconut pudding.

Of course the place is somewhat spoiled due to being promoted in Lonely Planet and on TripAdvisor, but it is a nice and easy place to experience dim sum. Spacious, food on display on trolleys and presented to you at the table. I'm not a dim sum expert but i liked what i got. We were there on a weekday, and the line started to form outside around 11:45, so come early

Very acceptable dim sum dishes. Good variety. Very good service. While the number of circulating dim sum carts is not as many as in other restaurants, the number of waiters attending to the tables are high. All the while there were waiters nearby who were quick to serve, answer questions, and bring dim sum dishes that we did not see. All in all a very good lunch experience.

Really good dim sum. Located just outside Chinatown. Nice vegetarian selection as well. Has never been and glad we went.

We have been fans of City View for years. We would make special trips into San Francisco just for their prized Dim Sum. This trip, we discovered that they've moved closer in to Chinatown and into a refurbished building. Instead of waiting for a table in an open room, we were escorted to a booth. Surprise, surprise, there were no carts roaming around to choose our meal from. Instead we were handed a fancy picture menu from which we ere to order. Food quality was still good but the lack of ambience really made our trip from Montana a huge disappointment. The lack of tablecloths and the roving carts left us with the feeling that they no longer catered to the local Chinese and business community, but now focused on tourist trade who may or may not have a sense of what the whole dim sum experience is supposed to be. lastly, apparently their new address hasn't shown up on local cab GPS's. Lots of luck finding the place.

I like this restaurant for Dim Sum because it's consistently good and you can make reservations. 4 of us had a wide variety of dishes including desert and it was $91 plus tip.

We love to catch Dim Sum in different cities. This was recommended by a friend to us. Very nice atmosphere and located off the hustle and bustle of the traffic and tourists. It’s very crowded and we can see why. Nice white table cloths, large variety of sweet and savory items and the frequency of carts is plentiful. They need some improvement in the restroom areas.

Dined here on a Saturday lunch, we waited for about 30 minutes for a table and was well worth it! Great Yum Cha, very tasty.

Patience is required if you arrive at noon time. Lots of people go this restaurant for lunch, so we arrived at 11:30. The food was excellent. The place could use new carpets, the restrooms are in the basement, and it smells musky down there. Other than that, great place to have a lunch.

We hadn't ever had Dim Sum before....and it was quite an experience. All crazy...delicious food. Friendly staff and very affordable! I highly recommend it!

Had a pleasant lunch with good food (the shrimp dishes were delicious although the pork buns were a let down). Overall, the service let it down. Felt slightly rushed and not valued at all.

Omg, I think I'm ruined for dim sum anywhere else. I have no idea what half of the delicious morsels were called but just say yes and enjoy! This place is packed from the minute they open, and I understand the waits can be long but so worth it. It's crowded and bustling and that just makes it all the more fun. And the food literally never stops coming! And it's all fantastic!

Amazing dim sum, lots of choices. Everything we ordered was fantastic. I would bet that the entire menu is excellent. BTW, this place is NOT at the address that pops up on Google maps. However it's only a block away and is a totally different decor than what you see on trip advisor

We enjoy trying different places for dim sum and this is the only place, we are intending to visit again.Good prices and great service.

This restaurant offers a unique experience! Once you are seated , there are waiters walking around with dishes to chose from. They are well known for their Dim Sum and for good reason! Once you pick a dish they mark it in a card and at the end of the meal they count and calculate it. We didn’t get a menu so were quite unaware of the prices and as we chose many dishes of their trays and it ended up being a little expensive bus still a great place to eat.

Simple but genuine, mostly Chinese audience and only open for lunch. Situated in the middle of SFs Chinatown. A fantastic choice of dumplings, make your choice from trolleys. All freshly made and truly delicious. A must when in SF - had to go back twice in five days!

Good concept and tasty food, but overall poor dining experience. With a table still full of food, we have been asked about four times if we have finished. We had the feeling that they wanted us out of the restaurant asap and have the bill done. And this while we were still eating the main courses and considering having some desserts. At the end we just gave up and agreed for the bill. What also bothered me was that the menu did not have prices on it. Only at the check out, we could see the amount to be paid. Overall price mid-rage.

This restaurant was recommended by my tour guide and it was worth it. Service was nice and quick and the dim sum was very yummy with lots of choices. It was packed too, go early.

We had been walking about as the cable cars were under maintenance this day and I love to view historical buildings. A staff member of the Chinese Library recommended the City View Restaurant to me as we had been hoping for some amazing Dim Sum. I am so happy we decided to check it out as the food was absolutely wonderful. The service was great, the staff were friendly and, and the restaurant was spotless! Please do visit here if you would like a relaxing popular restaurant with a wide variety of food menu choices.

Very good dim sum. Excellent soup dumplings and pork/shrimp shu mai. Very good Sichuan wontons in chili oil. Open only until 2:00 for dim sum.

Had no idea the restaurant moved up the block in the old Empress of China building! Bottom floor on Walter Lum St. Beautiful decor and very welcoming. Definitely feels more upscale as the prices somewhat reflect. Not as big of a menu nor carts but can get a good variety. I think lowest price per dish is $6.50. 7.50 will get you 4 shui mai so comparable to other places. Tasty and consistent with what they offered before. Wish they still did cart service as it’s nicer to see before you buy. Overall great upgrade.

Food: 5/5 Service: 3/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 Decor & Style: 3/5 The wait was long, like most popular restaurants in SF, but for that I will still have to rate it as it is. Food was great, I would recommend the dim sum to anyone, and I've eaten dim sum all over the world. They didn't have peppered steak, but that's hard to find at a dim sum restaurant. However, they had all your typical dim sum dishes though and it was very tasty! I would come back here as long as there isn't a long queue.

We went by this place on a night tour of San Fran , the tour guide pointed it out saying it was good. On a visit to Coit Tower we walked down thru China Town and looked it up. It was lunch hour so we had to wait a short time for a table for 6. Service was typical dim sum, very fast and continuous. Food was pretty good and you could eat til you looked like it. Prices were not unreasonable. Good experience

Trying to get yourself on the list is a bit chaotic but seems to work. Although stressful.. Once you are seated let the party commence.. You really do not look back... We went to the Yank SIng a few days earlier. Not as pretty but quite a bit cheaper. Very Happy Chappie

One of my favorite dim sum restaurants in San Francisco. The servers push carts with dim sum around the restaurant and you can point out what you want. The restaurant is large, so there is hardly a wait. Easy parking located across the street.

All the dim sum classics are on the menu and all were well above and beyond our expectations. The service was excellent and added to the pleasantness of the meal. You can eat inside or out but get there early. We did & watched the queue grow as we were waiting for our terrasse table.

I really wanted to eat at a dim sum Restaurant with steaming trollies to pick your food from and City View certainly provided that. Delicious dumplings and spring rolls of all types served straight from the trolley. Arrive before 12 to avoid big queues. It was very popular with my whole family.

I used to come to City View a lot when it was at Commercial Alley. I really liked bringing friends and family here who were visiting. The space was bright, large tables, you could really enjoy the ambiance with the many carts filled with dim sum rolling by. The food was spot on, and, they validated parking! We brought a visiting family member from Argentina here recently and it was beyond disappointing. Although we were seated immediately, the new space is much darker and kind of depressing. Also, the format now is more that you order off of a menu rather than grab something from the rolling carts. They still have the carts, but they are far and few between. Most of the foods is ordered off the menu, and it takes FOREVER....we waited almost 20 minutes for sesame balls...other dim sum, e.g. shrimp and chive dim sum, was actually burned on the bottom, so the quality took a nose dive. They also would cut some of the dim sum items, like the Taro balls and sesame balls in two, automatically. Now you have to ask! Other items also took a long time to arrive and the restaurant was not anywhere as busy as it was when it was on Commercial Alley. Lastly, trying to get someone's attention to get the bill and then actually having them ring you up and bring back the receipt, after you've given them your card, took fooooorever. For this person, the magic that was with City View is now gone IMHO.

Quick service. I’ve never been to bad dim sum. This is good, but not great. Thanks to eater san francisco for its listing. Peking duck Gyoza Stuffed crab

The dimsum here is excellent. With a wide variety available you will not run out of choices and dishes to try. The Peking duck is fabulous. Come early (we were here at lunch) since the place gets packed and there are no reservations. A must return to place in San Francisco.

Awesome dim sums, best in the city! Make sure you don't miss the crusty duck ... Go there before noon or long waiting line expected

Drat. The old City View dim place on Commercial St was once a great business dim sum place that relatives used for events. They moved (ok, that happens) and just opened in the new place on the street above the Chinatown Parking Garage. Had high hopes--they were sort of dashed. Maybe they are trying to get their feet under them still with the move and re-opening? Ha Gow shrimp dumplings had wrappers that were too thick, not see-thru, and the shrimp tasted over-steamed. The Siu Mai pork dumplings tasted as if they had been on the steam table since the morning rather than made and steamed just then--the greens had a sauce that was over salty--and the Ha Cheung (long wrapped shrimp) was in a wrapper far too thick and not spiced quite right. This used to be a place that the family and friends used as a third place for celebrations and lunches--but--it's going to need to improve to get that status back.

We came here on a recommendation from our hotel and we were not disappointed! It was a little hard to find as it is not on a Main Street but on a smaller walking street on the edge of Chinatown. We were seated right away and we're eating within minutes. The staff brought by carts every few minutes and with a good variety of dim sum and were loved everything we ate. The staff was attentive and refilled our tea pot and water without having to be asked. They were able to explain the dishes to us if we were not sure what something was. Overall it was great food with great service and we would definitely come here again when in SF.

Delicious Dim Sum. We felt like we were in Hong Kong. The service was very quick and there were many menu items to choose from.

Watch out your bill! They overcharged me over $20. As you see on my bill uploaded, its total should be $60.52. But, they miscalculated and charged me $80.62 on my bill. So I called the hostess in the hall and showed her my bill to correct it. However, she kept yelling at me five times that it is because of TAX, which is $6.32. When I kept explaining her about the wrong calculation, she finally seemed understood what was wrong and brought a correct bill for me without any sincere apology. Very rude! I understand she can make a mistake on this simple math. However, she didn't even listen what I tried to explain it to her and yelled at me multiple times. FYI, you cannot see any meal's price on their menu at all. It seems to me they are not honesty. The food taste is just average and nothing special. Also, they will keep pushing you to pay and get out; we were waiting for food carts (which are very slow) but they asked me multiple times if we were done and needed a check. FYI, we were staying there appx. 20 mins to eat. During 8 days in SF, this is the only restaurant that I didn't enjoy my food. There are plenty of better, tasty, honesty restaurants in SF. I really regret to have a meal here. I just was not lucky to get in.

City View Restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown is good but not great. We had a lot of dim sum which were generally good. The hsiao long bao were not very good. It is a very pretty setting and service is good. Prices are lower than Yank Sing but so is the quality of the food.

I love the location of City View, hidden on Commercial St. (a street that doesn’t cut all the way through and therefore is a bit hard to find at first). But the restaurant itself is evocative of Cantonese dim sum restaurants and the dim sum itself is the real deal. Venture further afield for Peking duck and other dishes from the kitchen. Reasonably priced. Reservations are useful but you can also just show up early and grab a table. Good for families.

we have been going here for the last 3-5 years. amazing selection. staff is very pleasant and speaks good english. park at butler and clay. you ten take a free shuttle or walk to the restaurant.

Very clean, packed full of business and family people. Everything that came around on the carts was tasty. Delicious!!

Really good food. Good service. Only nitpicks are the scallion cakes were a little greasy and the chicken buns were a little bland. The soup dumplings though were to die for. We should’ve gotten 4 orders of those alone. Good restaurant for trying a lot of different cultural foods

Recently had the chance to catch lunch at City View and everything was exceptional. Just as expected. In fact, we arrived shortly before the kitchen closed and the wait staff did an exceptional job of making sure the steamed containers kept coming our way. When in SFO, don't bother with the others. Go where your lunch (they are only open for lunch) will be exceptional, in a sparkling dining room with attentive wait staff, and the best dim sum in town.

All the rage? I do not get it? Rude people work there--act like they are annoyed that you came in at 1:30. The close at 2:00. DIM SUM CARTnot available! You must order off the menu and do it fast or you will get stared down. Very BIZARRE! The bath rooms in the basement are filthy which tells you a lot.The food sub par. Nothing memorable.

This place was recommended by our SF City Walks guide, Bill, and a few of us headed there after our Chinatown tour. Mixed Asian and non-Asian clientele. Staff very helpful with ordering suggestions. All Dim Sum dishes were delicious and plentiful for our table of four (we ordered about 8 dishes). Orders came out fast from the kitchen. You can’t go wrong here.

This is actually a very nice restaurant and is not typical Chinese food. We went for dim sum and the food was great. They did not rush you out like many of the reviews said and you can eat as many dishes as you would like. The food was excellent. Go early as it gets filled up, but you are in no way rushed. Anyone who hives to China town should experience this type of dining.

The wait was long but it was so worth it. Everything we ordered was delicious and good! Expect to leave with a full stomach load of good food!

I.travel to SF to enjoy the sights and food. City view is a must stop. I ate there two days in a row so I could try different dim sum dishes. It is open for lunch only. It is clean and well managed at half the price of a nearby competitor. It has a wonderful mix of Chinese friends and family as well as nearby financial street people and like a little united nations all enjoying dim sum off the carts or by the menu. It is all good and fresh.

We stopped in for lunch and the line was out the door and on to Commerce Street, so we were prepared from a long wait. Surprisingly we were seated within 10 minutes. The dim sum were wonderful, especially the shrimp dumplings, the tofu and eggplant stuffed with shrimp, and the chicken buns. Everything was fresh and delicious. This restaurant uses carts to serve, nice touch. An early lunch avoids waiting time. Even if there is a line, don't be discouraged.

This place can be overwhelming, because it isn't really explained how it works if you've never been before! Once you're seated, basically there are carts and carts of different foods which will come around and you can choose what you'd like. You're charged per item, so they will stamp a card on your table with what type (small, medium, large, special) and use that to ring you up. We didn't have a bad item here, but we had no idea what our bill was going to be! Luckily it was very reasonable - but be aware that you could probably ring up quite the tab if you have several people. It's a great experience and the food is great - highly recommended if you're in the area!

With so many restaurants in Chinatown its difficult to choose, so we went with a recommendation and it proved to be an excellent choice. We went for dim sum and the choices are fantastic. All the usuals, all served nicely and all priced fairly. A spectacular choice is the Peking Duck bites. Enough buns and duck and fixings to make 2 portions of the famous dish without having to order a full duck. The place is bright and airy, tables well spaced, service fantastic and the food comes quick so pace yourself.

This simple restaurant is an absolute gem, if you like dim sum. We joined the line before the place opened. The trolleys and trays of food started coming around the tables minutes after we were seated. There was a good variety. Everything we tried was delicious. Everything. Would go every week if I lived there.

I gave this restaurant an excellent review about a year ago, so here is an update: This is still by far the best dim sum restaurant we have found in the bay area, and we've eaten at 14 other such places. While City View lacks ambience, the selection is large, the food is great, the prices are low, and the wait staff is efficient and super-friendly. Today we had Peking duck, shrimp rice noodle, walnut prawns, baked pork buns, and mango pudding. All excellent, and the price including tip was under $40. Be advised that on weekdays it gets very crowded around 11:50, so get here earlier.

Went with some friend to this very busy restaurant for Dim Sum. The food was mostly great and came to the table quickly. I did not like the Sesame Ball, but others loved them. We all loved the pot stickers and their version of crab cakes. My only complaint is that we went there at 1:30 did not get seated until 2pm and then were told that they closed at 3pm. When food came around many things were sold out and we were told that it was the last cart run. We did have the option of ordering, but that takes some of the fun out of Dim Sum. I would go again - just get there earlier!

Went for lunch, had 3 items off the dim sum menu. Peking Duck with lotus bun, saucepan fried noodle roll, and fried shrimp and chive dumpling. Although none were bad (although the lotus bun was flavorless and too chewy), none stood out to me as being really good. Duck was not bad, noodle roll had a lack of seasoning/flavor, and the dumpling on the shrimp had a wierd, gelatinous texture. Nothing that would make me want to return. Service was ok and price average for the area. I would try another place next time

Great dim sum with trolley service. We waited about 20 minutes for our table but it was worth it . Excellent dim sum at reasonable price. About $100 for four people. We walked from Union Square in about 15 minutes so a convenient lunch location if out shopping for the day as we were.

Arrived for dim sum around 11:30 in the middle of the week. I was surprised to see how crowded it was, but took that as a great sign. We were seated right away. It was a very typical dim sum experience with carts rotating frequently with different options. Prices were reasonable and food was good. There was a lot of staff working and they were very attentive. Would come again if I was in the area!

Great food and great service. Enjoyed very much. The ambiance was a bit plain, but the location was good. Walking distance to interesting sights.
Great dim sum in San Francisco chinatown
City View Restaurant serves dim sum the traditional way - in push carts. This way you have the chance to see the dishes before deciding to get them. The food was superb and fresh. They even serve Peking duck for one portion. I especially liked the chicken feet and hakaw (shrimp dumplings). The service was fast and servers were attentive. The place was clean and expect a line during lunch time.
