Neck pain

By Michelle Wright |

If you want to keep your head turned at a 90 degree angle all night, go. It could be so much better with better table arrangements, but since they would lose seating, I assume they won’t be doing that. No idea about food-drinks were reasonable. I won’t be back no matter who is there simply because of the lack of room you have at a table with others and painfully having my neck turned all night.

Up Close and Personal

By PinkDaisy007 |

Went to see Jon McLaughlin here. He was great, but the review isn't about him - it's about the venue. The venue itself wasn't too big, so everyone is pretty close to the stage and no matter where you sit, you can see. You reserve/buy seats at a table, so unless you reserve the whole table, you will probably end up sitting with some strangers. Not a huge deal but I thought it was worth mentioning. The drinks and food were overpriced, as expected at an event. Also, if you want anything to drink while the concert is going on, it is VERY hard to get a waiter's attention and for the waiter to actually hear you over the music. I love small concert venues, so to me, anything negative was well-worth it. Great spot for an occasional date night or a night out with friends.

DON'T ORDER the FOOD 😝😝😝😝😝

By R M |

The entertainment was good but the FOOD was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! 😝 How can anyone mess up french fries and hummus? The french fries were cold. We sent them back. The waitress returned with heated, tasteless fries. The hummus was mostly oil and the bread was cold and crumbly. The lady sitting next to us sent/took back her glass of wine three times. Finally, someone came to reimburse her for the beverage order. My recommendation is that you EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE BEFORE YOU GO FOR THE PERFORMANCE. I wasted $29 for food that we left on the plates.

Great Venue for music and food

By Naomi S |

Small venue with live music. Flat bread pizza and salad is the way to go on the food. A lot of wine and beer options. We listened to music on the outdoor patio before going to our show. Tickets - reasonable. Artist came and met audience after the show, which was awesome. He was in no rush.

Wine Time!

By ancromer |

My best friend and I went to a wine tasting event at City Winery and it was great. We did the summer wine festival and we tried all different kinds of wine. They had stations all throughout the venue with different varieties. They even had musicians and DJs in a couple of different rooms so you could dance. Definitely recommend and would love to go back to another event!

Love this place!

By Barbara J |

This is a wonderful place for concerts. Sound is great. Good choice of wines. Food to eat. We've gone to two concerts so far and have loved our experiences. The servers are friendly. Next time we will eat dinner upstairs before the concert.

If you really, really have to see a particular artist...

By theshoo |

I've never been on a cruise but I image the City Winery concert venue is very much like where you'd see that awesome cover band in the ships music room/bar or had your table catered at Chasten Park. Personally I like to stand at concerts but that is not really an option here. There is no bar in the venue. You are stuck at your table and it can take forever to get a new drink. So if you're used to seeing your favorite band at an actually club or theatre you may be disappointed. I'm sure it would be a fun experience if you could fill a table with friends, (This was my first time and I went alone having snagged a wait-list ticket for a sold out show), But the only way I'd go back is if I absolutely, positively had to see a certain artist. As for food, I had the Burger. It was good.

Dinner

By Joshua H |

The service was horrible. The waiter was very nice and polite however he wasn’t good at his job. He hardly checked on us and forgot to bring us our drinks. We would have to flag him down. Then our food gets delivered or I should my food get delivered. I eat so my food want get cold per my wife’s suggestion. Which by the way my Brussels sprouts were on their way to being cold as they were brought out to me. I am literally three quarters of the way done when my wife’s food finally gets delivered ( my wife’s food did get comped). We get a dessert sorbet horrible the texture to it was something I have never experienced. We will never go back.

The worst dining experience

By Aleecia T |

As mentioned in the review email, we had a reservation for 8:45p and arrived at 8:39p. We were immediately seated by a friendly hostess and patiently waited to begin our experience. Still waiting to be acknowledged by ANYONE at approximately 9:07p we observed a server Ya-Ya introduce herself to a table seated near ours, she explained how she got the nickname Ya ya, takes there order offers them a wine sample as well as share the exciting news that she had recently got engaged and expressed how she loved her “big head baby”. and he’s so good to her. (I’m a teacher so I don’t miss details lol ) Eager to begin our experience my partner suggested we find out whose server and considering the server Yaya checked on the tables surrounding I declined to do so with the thoughts of not wanting to appear as impatient. and offend our waitress. Well we waited and observed …….. waited and observed. At this point my very cool, calm and collected partner decided to ask the hostess if we had an assigned server and was told that they would be with us soon. By 9:29p still nothing, no acknowledgement, not even a glass of water.During our experience we witnessed numerous the manager(slim black male with glasses),waitress and servers repeatedly walk by occupied and engaged with everyone except us. At 9:33, we decided to leave. While walking towards the door the hostess by the Ponce city staircase exit apologized and said thank you for visiting and that ended our experience. We drove from Alpharetta and paid to park for absolutely nothing. Not even water. We wasted 45 minutes of our time in a venue we’re no one even made eye contact with us as if we were ghosts. This was truly the most offensive and worst dining experience I’ve had in my entire life and I wouldn’t dare recommend this place to family friends or colleagues but I would recommend this to ghosts. Thanks for “acknowledging” my review.

One of my favorite venues for music

By LCK965 |

I love this place for music shows-small, intimate setting with good sound system. I love the concept...see a show, have dinner and cocktails/wine, etc. The food I've had there has always been good; however, the attentiveness of the servers is disappointing. I've been a patron there for at least a dozen times-every time the service has been frustrating. They did finally address the problem by placing a wine bottle on each table, where you place a card upright in the cork to signal to your server that you would like something. The concept is good, but I'd have to say that it has never improved the service. For the life of me, I can't understand why a server wouldn't want to sell you as many drinks or food as possible, increasing the tab total for a larger tip, but it doesn't happen. The last show I attended, I never even was asked if I'd like a second drink and the show was about 2 1/2 hours! If you can look past the problems with the service, the venue is a great place to see a show! And I'd recommend using the valet parking service because parking is crowded and the parking meter machines are a hassle.

They Get The Artists But “Get” Nothing Else

By springlering |

We have been here several times to attend concerts. It is a frustrating place to visit. First of all, they get the artists we love and we would sincerely LIKE to support the Winery so they can keep bringing these artists back. But they make it hard. The food is laughably bad. How can you make a simple salad unappetizing? By slapping wet unseasoned bland baked chicken on a wet limp head of “grilled” lettuce. Did I mention wet? Calling it “meh” would be a compliment. Our friends had a flat bread pizza. Their comment? “It’s the only thing we can get there that’s edible”. Management should realize there is SO much competition steps away. If you’re going to serve food that bad, repeat customers will simply eat before they come. Last time we visited, we followed the well marked signage, climbing two or three flights to what should have been the main entrance, to discover it was locked. We had to ask random people to finally find our way down an unmarked alley and enter that way. This is the same alley, past dumpsters etc, that they shepherd you out after a show. This time the main door was open. Inconsistent and inconvenient. Our last couple of shows we’ve had seats in front. Seating is so squeezed that there is nowhere to put your legs in the front. I’ve gone home with numb, sore knees both times from being pressed against the stage, and a crick from looking up. We’ve made an effort for the next couple of shows to book seats a little further back. Arrive early, because they have one poor woman checking you in, by name, with runners taking you to your seats. It’s a slow and tedious process and woe be unto you if they can’t find your ticket, even if you are brandishing the confirmation email. Not her fault, and I realize the line had built up behind us while she looked us up by name, seat and confirmation number. Way to make me feel stupid in front of our friends, btw. Embarrassing when she barked “That’s not one of our emails, you’ll have to talk to the manager” and then turned her back on us and ignored us. What? Like I had faked an email to gain illicit entry? That was certainly how it came off to our group. We were literally left standing there with our mouths gaping open til we asked a runner to find the manager for us. Once found, however, he was very helpful and apologetic. In a nutshell, the artists they draw are top notch. Five stars for that. The seating is packed and extremely uncomfortable, but the wait staff tries hard under extenuating circumstances. Stars for the venue simply because of the hardworking wait staff. One star for the terrible, lackluster food. Eat elsewhere. Such a shame. This place should be the whole package for a great evening out and it’s just not. Suggestion? Do some industrial espionage and send someone over to Eddie’s Attic to see how to do this type of venue properly.

Great food and service

By Foxhunting5 |

Burrata salad was great. Mussels were also very good. Service was quick and very good. Outside area was great!

Be prepared to be.. Squeeze in

By Journey15632570360 |

I went for a concert. the artist was very. good to ban was very good. The sound system was extremely loud. So much bottom. So every liquid drink on the table vibrated when the drummer hit the kit. The food was subpar. And if there was a capacity law, it was broken. Sardines A can.

I've had more legroom flying coach

By coffeecoffee25 |

Everything about this place is calculated to squeeze every last dollar out of as many people as possible. You're packed in at a long row of small tables, but not facing the stage, so you spend all night craning your neck at an uncomfortable angle. If there is just one person in front of you who's taller than you are, there goes your view of the stage. The chairs are hard and wooden. The guy in front of me kept slamming his chair into my kneecap and I couldn't move away from him because there was absolutely no room to move. I'm actually surprised that no fights break out, considering the fact that people are drinking and shoved on top of each other like this. Even the stage is too small. One of the performers mentioned that he couldn't bring his whole band on.

Great City Winery !

By whosane9 |

I’ve performed at most of the City Wineries in the country and they are very well laid out performance spaces. The acoustics in this club were great and made fun experience for the band and the audience. The food was excellent !!! I’d recommend this club for a night out to hear your favorite band! 10 stars

Enjoyed the Music

By TiredMom97 |

My visit to the City Winery was a pleasant surprise. I went to see Incognito and there was not a bad seat in the house. I will suggest that you get end seats or a stand alone table. I will go going back again.

Wonderful Place to Relax and unwind.

By Traveler657403 |

The City Winery is beautifully decorated with a easy going atmosphere. They have a great bar to the right when you walk in. They have plenty of space for dining both indoors and outdoors. The staff was very friendly and hopeful. They have a real nice wine selection. You can partake by the glass or by the bottle. The menu had a good selection and variety. Everyone in our party enjoyed their entree as the food was totally delicious. If you have room for desert you must try the peach cobbler a la mode!!!! The menu is conservatively priced, which was nice and overall we were extremely happy. We attended the Howard Hewett concert and it was one of the best shows I've seen. The venue is in the basement and we sat close to the stage. The waitstaff in the venue were outstanding and very attentive. If you have not had a chance to check out this spot, please do!!! You and your guest will have a blast. Whether it is attending an intimate concert or just unwinding with a nice glass of wine, you will love this spot. They have different musicians and events all summer long. We will be back.

Can be hard to get a glass of wine at a place ironically named City Winery

By LaserJim3 |

This was our fourth time to go to City Winery. As always, the music was great! Leftover Salmon put on an excellent show. We sat next to Front of House. The sound mix was just right: clean and not too loud. Unfortunately wine pricing and delivery were aggravating. At first I thought they had actually lowered the price of a carafe of their house Chardonnay from $ 35 to$ 30. Not so! The new "carafe" was only 500ml. By most anyone's definition from France to the US, a standard, full carafe is 750ml - the same as a bottle of wine. This is a sneaky attempt by the venue to overcharge. It's usually a common assumption that a "house" wine will be less expensive than a bottle. At least their wine list should mention that it's not a full carafe. Our "carafe" arrived in 7-8 minutes, but it took another 12-15 minutes and 3 requests to get glasses. Our party of 3 quickly finished our carafe and I ordered a $ 30 bottle of Leftover Salmon labeled Pinot Noir that the MC had made an announcement about. After ~20 minutes a different waiter came by and told us that wine was only available after the show to take out. Maybe someone could have mentioned this during the announcement or when we ordered it. We ordered a $ 40 bottle of Spanish Rueda. This time the glasses came immediately and the wine came about 10 minutes later. City Winery has an extensive and interesting wine list with a few in the $ 40-60 range, most in the $ 60-200 range, and more than a few in the $ 400+ range. I really like great wines, but when I'm listening to fiddles, banjos and mandolins I'm not inclined to drink Silver Oak or Opus One. Our tables' checks arrived well before the end of the concert. Perhaps Don't get me wrong - we WILL return to City Winery. It's actually a great music venue, in spite of other reviewers' complaints about crowded, uncomfortable chairs. There are few bad seats in the house, they have a good sound system and the audiences are far better behaved than at Chastain.

Awesome time at the Tasting Room

By nlott414 |

Hung out here for a few hours and was not disappointed. The wine tasting was great and the wine selection was perfect. I would definitely stop by this location again to enjoy a few glasses of wine.

Incredible artist in an intimate setting!

By rwhames |

Recently saw Richard Marx at the Winery. This is an artist with 14 number 1 songs over 4 decades. Still a fantastic voice with hits across all genre's. Many thanks to the City Winery for providing this caliber of music to Atlanta. Also the service is excellent and the food is respectable.

GREAT VENUE FOR A CONCERT

By Greg B |

We came here to see a concert by the fantastic Mary Black from Ireland. We have never been here before and I must say the facility was great. We drove 4 1/2 hours to get here but it was well worth it. Being this is a winery along with being a entertainment venue was a real bonus. Before the show we were able to purchase a bottle of wine and this made the show more comfortable and pleasant. Our server was Evan and he was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We had a great time here and would recommend it to anyone who wants to see a show in a more intimate setting (340 seats).

Yummy food - couple of issues

By SDP40 |

Yes this is not the cheapest please to eat and drink in Atlanta but the food is really great and service to match. I thought the place was a bit chilly and the dark but no biggie. Pimento cheese was a great starter with their home made saltines - easily enough for 2. Main course - flatbread was delicious but came out long before my dining partners dish arrived and in the end what he received was not what he ordered. Our server did make every effort to offer to change it but we insisted it was fine, after all I was half way through my entree at this stage- not really an acceptable mistake. All agree food was delicious and service very genuine and efficient

A Favorite Venue in Atlanta

By Songwriter2898 |

This is currently one of my favorite venues in Atlanta! Up close and personal with some legendary performers. A relatively small venue. The front row seats are stellar. Dinners and wine are a bit high priced but create a truly pleasant way to bask in some fine music.

Good Music - Terrible Service

By JAH729 |

My wife and I went to City Winery on December 15 to see the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and again on December 29 to see Peabo Bryson. On both occasions the music was excellent! Decent sight lines. Good acoustics. Relatively small space making for intimate setting - also very nice. The fly in the ointment is the food and beverage service. Servers disappear for up to 30 minutes after taking orders. Food comes out wrong - for example a request for a medium rare burger came out well done. Fries come out barely warmer then room temperature. And on our most recent visit, one of the two items we ordered did not come out at all - the kitchen forgot us according to our server. Eat dinner someplace else either before or after the show. Order two drinks when first approached by your server, since that may be the only time you see him/her until the bill is presented. We will go back for the great music - but we won’t be ordering food again. We gave only 3 stars - 5 for music and 1 for service - averaged to 3.

Great show, slow service

By Joanna J |

The show was fantastic and I enjoyed talking with the other people at my table. However, service was very slow (it took nearly an hour to get our first drink).

Great place to see a concert, Service is not good.

By ljrapp16 |

We arrived early because we were not sure about parking, our seats and we wanted to eat before the concert. The place is outstanding. The atmosphere is incredible and alive and is inviting. The food was good but the menu was limited. The next time we go we will eat before and maybe have just an appetizer. Their main problem is the service is terrible. Our waiter paid no attention to us and was rarely around to even ask to bring us anything. Then when we paid our bill he never brought our change and kept over a 25% tip for himself. I wrote a letter to the establishment and never got a response. Another positive was the wine they make that we tried was very good.

Bad service,mediocre food and wine

By Bill H |

The atmosphere is nice but food was not good wine average and service was bad. Would in no way recommend this place to anyone. Eat somewhere else and maybe have a wine at the bar.

Great Wine Event

By Chris |

We went to the Winter Atlanta Wine Festival taking place here and had a blast! Winery is very big with lots of open space. Wine tastes great and it is a fun atmosphere!

Like other reviews, go for the music, nothing more

By u2godu2 |

I always eat before I come here, many choices at PCM outside. If you go thinking you will get good food, you will be disappointed. Service is OK.

Outstanding Venue

By Kevin H |

Went to see a concert titled “Tribute To The Isley Brothers”. This was an excellent show, and a phenomenal performance by the artists. Whenever you’re in the ATL check out the scheduled shows. You won’t be disappointed.

Great show but table mix up by staff was a headache!

By CaptTrouble |

My husband and I went here with a friend Friday night to see Rick Wakeman, best known as the keyboardist from YES, on his “Grumpy Old Musician” Tour. He is also known for the keyboard part of Cat Stevens’ “Morning Has Broken,” and composing and recording with David Bowie on “Space Oddity” and “Life on Mars.” We arrived prior to the show when wine was still being served, waited in line, and accompanied a young woman to our table. That’s when we discovered that another couple was sitting at our table for four. Whether they sneaked in and sat down at a table that looked good or were shown to the wrong table by staff, is still a mystery. Upon finding the couple seated at our table, the host turned around, told me, and looked like she was going to seat us in the back at a table with poor sight-lines and next to the door that would remain open (and with brighter lighting outside of it). Knowing that my husband and our friend were HUGE fans (my husband has gone to Wakeman’s concerts for 42 years), I stopped the host and said “Boot’em.” I had to repeat it as I shook my head at her. Then she went back to talk to the people as I told the rest of my party what was going on. Why be so mean? Well, my husband waited and got tickets as soon as they were available, and spent time doing it too. I flew almost 1900 miles round trip for the concert. But a big concern of mine was that each table is secured by a credit card; and these people had already had SEVERAL glasses of wine, all of which would’ve been rung up on our card had they not presented a different card at the end of the night. That’s in case you leave without paying, they can look up who the table was reserved to and who bought the tickets. They DO ask you for a card at the end to pay but that is their ace-in-the-hole, I have been told. So this took quite a bit for this young woman to get these people out of our table, including looking at their tickets (printed) and showing them on the seating chart she had that the empty table was theirs. A couple of times she looked like she might give up but I went over and stood in sight watching them. I don’t normally do that, I was raised in the northern Midwest to be ultra polite. But we were at 8 pm showtime, we had not been seated, and I was not going to let these people take our better table. Finally they left, leaving all of their dirty glasses (wine and water). I had to stop the hostess and ask that she send someone over to clean up the mess and to take our wine order. She was just going to walk away, and there were no servers anywhere near us. So she gathered up as much as she could carry. I thanked her. Someone else came over with water and we thanked him and asked for a server before the music started. In a couple of minutes a young man wandered over glanced at us and the dirty glasses and was going to walk away when I caught him (verbally). He took our wine order quickly and said he would be back asap. I thanked him too, and meant it. I know he had other tables but CW’s screw up cost us precious time. He did come back right away but I had to prompt him to take the dirty glasses from the other people. We ordered what we thought would be fast and easy to get: I ordered the house Cabernet Sauvignon, a 2018 Yakima Valley ($13), my husband the house Pinot Noir, a 2017 ($13), and our friend got a glass of the house Syrah Rose, a 2018 Mendocino ($10). The Pinot was the winner; the cab was ok, and the rose was undrinkable. Of course the show had started so we couldn’t send it back. Our friend said it was absolutely the worst. The show was extremely good and we really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the seating is all on one level, which is just dumb. The Chicago City Winery is built up so people in the back can see. I lucked out; I took the seat that I thought would be bad as I had to turn all the way around and it appeared that the seats on the other side of the table were much better. Well, because men on the ends of the tables in front of us pushed their chairs back into the main side-to-side walking aisle for the servers, neither our friend or my husband could see anything. My husband reported seeing Wakeman’s hands playing and our friend had a drunk guy almost in her lap. Not cool. As long as Wakeman was at the piano or standing in the center of the stage, I could see him. No way could we get up and change seats during the concert, partly because the aisles near us were blocked (good luck in a fire). I would only go back if a performer that I LOVED would be at CW and nowhere else I could fly to. That’s what I think of the seating. And the chairs are horrible, reminiscent of the wood ones we had in elementary school. Very difficult to sit on them for 2-2 1/2 hours. Getting your check settled is awful. We had 3 glasses of wine and it was at least a 45 minute wait to pay, possibly longer. It was chaos, and another huge reason to make sure you are at your own table (unless you are a leech and want to drink on somebody else’s dime). And finally: Parking. You can park on-street (may the odds forever be in your favor), in the surface lot for Ponce City Market (bring bribe money just to get a spot), or in the underground garage (bring a bloodhound to find the entrance). Parking in the surface lot is paid only; we had one lady come to our car to ask for our spot while we were trying to download the payment app (ridiculous), and then two SUVs pulled up behind our car, waiting for us to leave. Just yikes. I prefer concerts at Symphony Hall, where we have seen Rick Wakeman before in his sparkly signature cape with YES. Oh, and it took Cat Stevens’ lot 37 years to pay Wakeman the 9 pound session fee for recording the piano part of their #1 hit, “Morning Has Broken.”

Great venue

By Quadpack |

We enjoyed the music and the wine. We will likely eat somewhere else next time. It wasn’t terrible or anything, just the cost and taste didn’t seem to match.

Getting loose with Loose Ends

By Tiana K |

Great experience in the “A”. Group of friends got together to show support for these Legends in the music business and we had a great time. Loved the atmosphere and the vibe of the place. Before the show started they had upcoming acts for the next two months of some great artists which was cool. Only thing, the place got a little crowded and seating was cramped. I had to get up in order let someone on another table out. Other than that, service was good. Definitely will stop by again next time I’m in town.

Superb lunch!

By usfive |

Ok so this restaurant is truly relaxing and elegant at the same time. Casual dress but modern classy style. If weather permits be sure to grab a spot on the patio. The service is friendly and responsive. Truly a wonderful experience from the start to the end. My hubby ordered fried chicken with rosemary gravy, collard greens and mashed potatoes. It was excellent comfort food with an upscale twist. I had the kale Caesar salad with grilled shrimp-also excellent. The wines are first class. The choices are excellent and varied. Right now, I'm finishing a mimosa. Refreshing! I had the Sauvignon Blanc earlier and my hubby had the Cabernet. Both very good. A little pricey but a great place for a splurge. If you want exceptional service, food and wine, definitely choose this place.

Disappointing Debut: A Lackluster Night at City Winery

By tsol75 |

Last night was my first time at the City Winery, and I was really looking forward to a fantastic evening out. Unfortunately, it was far from great and fell well short of my expectations. I actually left the venue early. The seating was uncomfortably close, and as for the performer, well, let's just say the show didn't begin on time and there was excessive talking and not enough playing of his music. Overall, it was a rather draining experience.

Crystal Bowersox - excellent

Great entertainment and easy to buy tickets online. Food was good, but the speciality bread /pizza was phenomenal!! We also really enjoyed the wine on tap. We will be back!

Disappointed

By rgs0827 |

Thus place is a really cool venu. Food is over priced and portions are small. Trust me I have no problem paying for what I get. Wait staff seemed confused due to the host staff. All in all not a great visit but will give it a second.

Eat before you go!!

By CCCuffs |

My wife and I attended a jazz concert last evening at The City Winery. We arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes early so that we could order our food and eat before the event started. Short story.....food took forever, her food was cold, my food (a flatbread) tasted like cardboard and had very little of the meat that it was touted to have on it. My wife's dinner was replaced by something that was luke warm and obviously had beep prepared well before serving time and heated up! AND it cost $22!!. The moral is "Eat before you go" to City Winery. The concert was awesome! We won't eat there again!

Average service, not inviting...

By AnneMarie514 |

The restaurant is really large and has group sections which is probably good for group reservations. We were 4 around 5pm for drinks and we wanted to sit on the terrace. Indoor was really quiet, the waitress explained us we need to order at the bar inside if we don’t eat, which we did. The terrace was no ambiance, chairs and tables not cozy.. a glass of wine and we were ready to go. When we ordered at the bar, the waitress didn’t suggest us well about wines, she was confused, and the 3 staff were getting ready for their night shift and were not really nice to us... disappointed but it was only for a drink! They have music shows at night, maybe the mood is different !

Upscale Environment

By ChooseUP4real |

Entry made simple. Seating a little cramped except the VIP area. Decor on point and functional. Although they should consider softer seating for the venue concert area. The wine selection is at its finest. In fact I had 2 glasses in 1 1/2 hr. Anthony David in concert was an added plus. The sound system were awesome and crew was on que. Thanks for the best way to celebrate a birthday to remember. I will be back.

Such a shame a wonderful music venue can’t perform in the dining room

By AtlFolks |

2nd time visitor to the City Winery for a show and 1st time for dinner. No real place to start or end except the restaurant was dirty, the food was mediocre and overpriced, and service was sub-par. If you’re in town for a show, eat in the Ponce Market next door, and then come for the show. To the management: Y’all have one of the best music venues I’ve ever been to. Should you up your game on the restaurant, you will have a home run, word will get out how great you are, and revenues will reflect that. But, you have a LOT of work to do from top to bottom. Maybe I’ll try you again next year to see what happens. I’ll definitely be back for a concert. Best wishes!

Only reason I’d go again, the musicians

By Lisa C |

Been there twice in the last month to see some favorite artists. I feel like a sardine, cramped in a tight row of cafeteria style tables and seats. Very uncomfortable! Food... average. Tonight we ordered hummus. Not enough lavash to finish, asked for additional pieces. Waitress said charges will be additional $1.50... OK. 20 minutes later I asked about it. She said everything comes out of the kitchen when ready. OK. This is basically a cracker! Never got it, yet it was on our bill. Last visit, my food came out and I was finished LONG before my date’s meal showed up. I had duck tacos.... OK. He had flatbread, overdone on the outside, gooey in the middle. Tonight I had the fried chicken which was really good. Corn muffin, awful!! Potatoes and collards were OK. I prefer my collards in pot liquor. These were dry. We asked twice for our plates to be removed twice. They sat on our table at least 45 minutes after we were through. Imagine that when you are packed I like sardines! Gross. I will only go back for the artists. Won’t eat there again. Go early and eat somewhere else. One one more thing, if you order before 7 pm you are supposed to get 20% off. We did, we asked, waitress confirmed. Bill came, no discount. We forgot about it when bill came. We should not have had to remember; we didn’t. Want to feel like a herd of cattle? Yes, eat here. NEVER AGAIN!!! Pic is our stack of plates that we stacked, scraped our food in order to stack.

Complimentary Tickets

My fiance proposed to me on stage in January 2019 at the Conya Doss concert. We were given free tickets by Keandra Brown to return to another concert at our choice. We wanted to return to celebrate getting married on February 8th, so we decided to see Algebra and friends, my name was left on the door. Oh boy what a night, we couldnt have chosen a better night. Thank you Keandra for all that you did bearing in mind my husband had lost the free vouchers. U still made it happen xxxxx

Birthday Party

By Pork C |

My friends and I went to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. The menu was diverse and there was something for everyone. I would recommend the Maine Lobster Fettuccine. It was succulent but it was different from my peer who had the same dish yet her portion had more sauce than mine. Despite that minor difference I would get it again. The staff was very attentive to us. They were friendly and responsive when we had some specific requests. However, they almost seemed borderline like sales people who need to make quota. In essence, they tried to push the bill up by offering dishes with a little pressure.

Went to a live concert to see Dwele with my husband for date night. I enjoyed it. It is a nice intimate venue.

Music for 2 👩‍❤️‍👨

By TK |

This venue is perfectly intimate for a serious listen to your favorite artist. Uptight and personal. We were second seating at 9:30pm so prepare for the classic cramped line waiting whilst they clear out seating #1. The food choices inside the Ponce City Market are fabulous, so I’d say go for the full Ponce vibe and wander that cozy marketplace before or after show cuz it’s spectacular. Ubers everywhere so take advantage. Wines available at show were meh, but to be expected. The music, the acoustics really carried the nite for us

A great small venue for music in Atlanta

By Sid Maxwell |

I’ve been here several times. It’s a favorite smaller venue for music in Atlanta. The best seats are in the front section near the stage, but all the seats in the front section have nice views. The stage is low and all the tables are close by. I last saw Don McLean here and sang along as he closed with American Pie. His voice is still strong by the way. The food is very good causal fare. The fried chicken is a great favorite. The wines are all very reasonably priced. And the price of entry is a good bargain. It’s a fun place and great night out to enjoy some old favorites. Don’t miss Average White Band if they return.

Great selection

By Katelyn C |

We had a very good meal. The flatbread was good and my 2 yr old daughter was able to share it with me. We have really yummy burgers and they had a lovely selection of wine and beer, my favorite was a red sparkling wine.

Incognito Concert

By hammerbudice |

Very nice an cozy place.Large wine selection. We had front row seats for the concert,WOW !!! We only had the cheesecake and it was very good.

Food and Service lacking. Eat somewhere else if you love the band. Waiter doubled tip.

By ontheroadagn7 |

We went to two concerts we learned about from the Irish Music show on WRFG. The music venue sounds good and has fairly decent views of the stage, but as mentioned, the chairs are uncomfortable and stacked close together. We had reserved four seats and two our party didn't come due to illness. Instead of honoring those two PAID tickets and keeping those seats empty (giving us more room) they seated two other patrons there! Unfortunately that started at the start of the concert so we couldn't alert the management. And of course those two "late arrivals" wanted food and drink so their ordering, food arrival (spaced out time wise and in different 'shifts') was distracting to our enjoyment of the show. Not to mention they were practically on top of us. It took at least twenty minutes to be asked if we'd like something to drink. HINT: the sooner someone orders an overpriced profitable beverage the better chance you have to sell them ANOTHER overpriced beverage. We ordered beer (no drafts) and one was brought in a can and the other in a bottle. Had to ask for a beer glass which took FOREVER to arrive. The menu was limited and average. Small portions especially for the prices. Service extremely lacking. At BOTH shows we would have ordered at least another round of drinks, dessert and coffee, but weren't given the opportunity because nobody came by the table to ask if we wanted anything else. And we arrived well over an hour before each show. The Coups de Gras was when we went to pay our tip with $15 cash and the waiter ADDED $15 to the charged bill AND took the $15 cash. Had I not checked by bill vs. my account I wouldn't have known. The same waiter added $2 to the other check at our table. I spent a long time documenting this (screen shots of my bank account and photos of the ticket) and didn't get a reply back until I sent an email explaining the problem to everyone listed on the website. The reply was somewhat shocking. They apologized for the "inconvenience" and committed to looking into it. Without any other correspondence the two amounts were credited back. I'm sorry - this was more that an "inconvenience" this is theft and fraud. Maybe it's such a frequent occurrence that they just can't reach out with a personal apology. More likely they just don't give a rat's backside (TA won't let me write a--). You have to wonder how many people get ripped off in a similar way without reconciling their bills/checks. My advice - if it's a performer you really like, buy the ticket and eat and drink before and after the show somewhere else. Pay cash and reduce the tip in line with your service experience. The tickets are expensive enough that it can otherwise be a VERY expensive night out.

Nice spot for a show

By SMcBaker |

Cute little venue. Acoustics weren’t the best but not bad, either. We did not eat at the venue during the concert but plenty of people around us seemed to be enjoying flatbreads, hummus and wine! I had previously read that parking was a challenge, which confuses me because the underground parking garage was literally right there and had plenty of space for only $7 for 3 hours. There was a small valet lot on the surface level.

Good stop for wine and apps

By tigg189074 |

My husband and I stopped in here while we were walking around the city a bit. My husband had a beer and I grabbed a wine (they were out of the first wine I chose, but they have a good list to choose from). We ordered an app as well and enjoyed everything. The space is really cool - it's upstairs and has some nice views as well.

Great time with singer Craig Morgan!

By kkr6767 |

Great venue. Arrived early. Despite service concerns voiced on other reviews, we had no issues. Very helpful and prompt service. Tried 4 apps--tacos, risotto balls, shrimp dish and a flatbread. Along with sampling a couple of red wines by glass. Sitting next to stage was fun and entertainment was super!

Lots of Fun

By Jonathan G |

My positive view of this place may be conditioned by the great concert my friends and I saw when we went (Bruce Cockburn, who at age 72 still has it). All the same, it is a great intimate venue for live music. The food and wine, while pricey, were satisfying.

Great food & so much wine!

By TXMARTINS |

City Winery is not your average pub type of food! From Mushroom & Goat Cheese Risotto Balls, Tuna Crudo Bowls To Crawfish Bruschetta. This is a fantastic place for a date with live music many nights of the week. Good service & so many wine options. Tip: Parking can be tight above ground, but easy parking normally in the garage below.

Don't order the sliders!

By michellp |

We ate in the concert hall because we visited City Winery for a show. Overall we liked the space and the service was really good. I had to take off one star, though, because the item we ordered (waygu beef sliders, $21.00 per portion) was just awful. The bun and condiments were great, but the beef patties were woefully overcooked, blackened, dried out hockey pucks about the size of a quarter. Other items our party ordered were good -- truffle fries, risotto balls, pork belly -- but the sliders were just an insult to food. So I'd advise going here for a show, but I would avoid the sliders!

Rude Staff

By Cuteness4u |

I was thrilled that I would be attending the Marsha Ambrosius Concert. This was also my first visit to the location. This venue has a nice ambiance and its dimly lit cozy and romantic. We were seated and our table had the bottle# 75. The male waiter approached and since I already had dinner I just wanted something to drink. I do not drink hard liquor and I did not want any wine. I ordered a specialty beer that had pomegranate in it. I asked if I could have it in a glass with salt around the rim. He then rudely replied they are too busy for all of that!! If I ordered a margarita it would be put in a glass with salt around the rim. I was confused and his delivery was all wrong. I ended up not ordering anything. I am huge on customer service and he definitely needs more training. This has me contemplating if I will try it out again for a second time or not.

Melody Blows and the wine flows!!!

By Mog3 |

This chic, avant garde hidaway in plane site is an amazing place. The food, the wine and everything about the place is first class, cool and remarkable. The seating is excellent for the whole house the acoustics great and the crowds super mellow. Food prices are reasonable and most of all tasty.

Amazing artist!

By Diana P |

The venue is nice and cozy and would make a great date night location! The tickets are reasonably priced and all seated have a great view to the artists but it is packed very tightly. I have been on more than one occasion and each time the food is not the best so I recommend eating before coming. The wine is great! I recommend trying their desert wines! Service is not the best. On my most recent visit the waitress came to take my order and never returned the entire show so I received none of my order at all.

Fantastic Venue

By Carol |

I was there to see Walter Beasley. The venue was very nice. The food was excellent, staff was courteous and the wine was very good. I was very satisfied, as it was my first visit. I will definitely go back.

Love the concerts here!

By tracylL588EH |

Love the concerts! Such a great venue! We get our favorite seats in VIP when we go! Although the food and wine is slightly overpriced, usually the tickets for the shows are very reasonable!

A little cramped at times but a good place overall.

By Justmovin |

City Winery books some of the best acts available. The performances are great and the stage and sound system are too. I find the seating a little cramped and a little difficult which makes it less comfortable than I would like. Overall though we will be back again.

Dinner then a show

By jettingjh |

We booked to see Kermit Ruffins and arrived early. We decided to eat dinner upstairs rather than in the dark room where the show was held. There is a great selection of food on the menu and we decided on a few appetisers to share rather than having entrees. The highlight was definitely the homemade hummus which will now be a must for every visit. The service was inconsistent and slow but we enjoyed the relaxed pace of dinner. The show itself was fantastic - we enjoyed every minute. Seating was on a shared table and the tables are very small. We were glad we ate dinner upstairs as there was very little room to move let alone eat downstairs. All in all a very enjoyable evening.

Great Wine

By Angelofmcy |

Great, intimate venue for concerts. Saw Don McLean there last month. He was unbelievably good! They have wonderful wines. Only problem is when the concert starts the wait staff continue to go up and down the isles obstructing the view of the stage. Other wise a fun place to go. They have musicians performing there, that you may not see anywhere else!

Great show place with expensive food

By charleslambert392 |

Went to the Kathy Matae show and she was great. Venue is nice but very crowded. Service was ok but sometimes there is a disconnect between wait staff, bar servers and food servers. Prices are pretty high for a limited food menu. Small burger and fries for $16 plus a dollar for cheese. Limited specialty beer menu but they appear to only get one six pack of the craft beers each so availability is short lived. Seemed to have plenty of PBR as the only domestic on the list. Wine selectio good but you only get 3 ounces for your $10. Duck tacos were very good but portion was small. Get ice cream with your Chantilly chocolate cake as it is a little dry but very good taste. The staff was very good at getting us first timers in to our seats.

Musiq Soulchild

By Nikzleez |

We came to see Musiq Soulchild perform. Was puzzled why the venue was not rated higher. Staff were gracious. We were seated immediately (arrived 30 minutes early). Tables and chairs were small and cramped given we were next to strangers. Didn't expect much from the food so only ordered truffle fries and 2 pineapple mint margaritas. Enjoyed everything. Not a bad seat in the house from what I could see. Lighting and sound were great. I would come again.

Totally Enjoyable Evening

By Katie |

I have passed up many shows here because of negative reviews. What a mistake! We finally went to Atlanta's City Winery to see one of my favorite songwriters, Jimmy Webb. This really is a nightclub. The ambiance is charming and intimate. There really is not a bad seat in the house because the room is small. Some people have complained that, because of the room's size, tables are squished together uncomfortably. They are close but tolerable. Plus, sitting so near other patrons, we ended up having nice conversations with people which made the visit even more enjoyable. I had read that the food is not good. We ordered the Margarita flatbread and the bruschettas, wine, and beer. The food and drinks were brought to us promptly. All were excellent! I had read that the service was poor. Not for us at all. Our server, DeShawn, was wonderful. It was a wonderful, truly fun evening. We will definitely be going back for other shows, maybe even become "Vinophiles."

I guess you pay for the atmosphere?

By mnspje |

Went last night for a comedy event. Lovely atmosphere. Drinks outrageous- $16 martini in a tiny champagne glass and $13 glass of wine- my glass wasn't even 1/3 full. The staff got our bill wrong. We were packed in like sardines- I could easily read the texts on the lady's phone next to me. My bill was $70 for a burger and 3 drinks. Would not return unless someone else pays.

Poor service

By hhenderson1 |

I went to the City Winery for the first and last time last night with my husband. We were really looking forward to the night and got there early , about 18.30, you could pick your own table and we had a really good spot. Our waitress was lovely and helpful, we ordered wine and charcuterie. Which were OK. Then downhill after that. The music would have been good if they had the volume of the band lower but unfortunately the singer was drowned out by the band. We ordered another carafe of wine and after 40 min waiting and trying to get the waitresses attention I went and asked about the wine, she said there was a backlog at the bar, did we want to cancel the order, which we did. Then another 30 min trying to get her attention for the check. They had what looked like 2 bar staff, no where near enough. A very disappointing night. Left during the performance which we have never done before anywhere.

March 9 Cowboy Junkies

By Mountaineer4ever |

My wife and I have probably attended more than a dozen performances at Atlanta City Winery. The food is upscale bar food. They now have a "sommelier" to offer wine suggestions and it would be even nicer of the staff could identify the charcuterie and cheeses! We usually invite a couple to join us because the tables just aren't large enough for 4 people who don't know each other to "share" space while eating. All that is minor! Unfortunately, last nights service was atrocious. We got there more than an hour before the show started and a server came by to take our drink orders and dropped of 2 setups for the 4 of us and said she would be back to take our food orders. About 5 minutes later the sommelier brought our bottle of wine over. I thought our server would be over shortly. After 10 minutes i thought, maybe she was busy and put the call card up. After another 10 minutrs she finally came by and took our order - the Tour of Meat and Cheese, and the hummus platter and reminded her we needed 2 more setups. After about 5 minutes someone brought the cheese and meat platter but couldn't remember what the 3 different cheeses or the 3 different meats were. After 5 more minutes still no additional setups and no hummus platter. I again placed the card on top of the bottle signifying we wanted service. Over the next 15 minutes I asked 2 other servers to get our server to no avail. So I went to the check-in desk and asked if there was a floor captain. I was told there was and they would come to my table. Shortly after I returned, the captain stopped and I related my dissatisfaction. Within a few minutes the hummus platter and setups were delivered. There was no offer to provide an extra goody or comp the hummus platter. So much for service and customer satisfaction! I have seats for Thursday's show w/Luther Dickinson, Amy Helm, and the Birds of Chicago. Hopefully service will be better.

Amazing and courteous staff!

By Jay H |

We visited the City Winery to see Shaun Cassidy in concert. Due to the pandemic, the concert was rescheduled but their staff was amazing in keeping customers up to date and well informed of the restrictions for the venue. Plus the food and wine was pretty darn good!

Okay

By Kris1966 |

Hard uncomfortable seats where you have to turn sideways and sit with strangers. Dark so you can’t see menu or food. Pricey uninspired and undetailed menu. All seats on floor so no levels. Crowded in. It’s an uncomfortable place. Loud. I would rather have bought wine and drank in my backyard listening to the radio. See my food in the picture?

Crawfish and Dirty Dozen Brass Band

By charleslambert392 |

Very nice evening with good food and a great band. Menu tonight include some good Cajun choices. Crawfish and andouilli sausage fettuccine and crawfish bruscetta was pretty good. Added a watermelon wheat beer to wash it down. Tomatoe bisque was nice. The peach cobbler cheesecake was very good. Waiter did a fair job but service dropped off as the evening went on. Place was not full so this was unexpected. Band was great and got everyone on their feet and actively participating. They even had a second line going.

Nice patio

By roropatel27 |

Nice patio, great for good weather. Good wine menu. Good selection of by the glass or by the bottle.

Great location, very good food and service

By John S |

My wife and I had dinner at City Winery. Great selection of wines and a nice selection of meals. Service was very attentive and the food was prepared and served pretty quickly. Really enjoyed the skirt steak, Brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese. The roasted chicken was very good but could have used a bit more seasoning. Had the olive oil cake which was excellent although did not taste the marmalade on top and the gelato did not have a great deal of flavor. Overall, a very good experience and will come back. Also greatly enjoyed the wine.

LOVED IT

By Wow |

This was my first time going to City Winery and I have to say that I LOVED it!!!!! I went last night to see Chante' Moore. The setting was very intimate and felt like a personal experience. I was in the front row and was able to see everything. The sound system was good & Chante' was excellent (sounds like her records...even the whistle notes). I didn't eat. Ordering was done contactless by scanning a QR code. The waitress, Kay, was very attentive and fast. My table mates were cool & personable. I really enjoyed my evening. I'll be going there again in a couple of weeks to see Howard Hewitt and if I have half of the experience I had last night I'll be alright.

Cool venue

By Fignug1522 |

Saw Louis Prima jr here. Great show. The staff was great. Sound was very good. Food was good. Great location in Atlanta.

Good for music acts

By Rod D |

First the positive. City Winery has two things going for it. 1.) Location: it's in the Ponce City Market shopping area. Getting there and parking is easy and Ponce City is a cool experience even though I've been there dozens of times. 2.) I go there for the music acts. For the most part I would say the music venue downstairs is quite good and I have seen some high quality acts including Los Lobos and Tom Castro and the Pain Killers. I recently saw Tribute, a celebration of the Allman Bros. and they were very good. The not so good. If you are there for the music (which is the only reason I would go to City Winery), the food in the downstairs music hall is average. The wine is overpriced which brings me to my other issue. Each time my wife and I have been there for dinner and a show they have been out of the house cabernet even though it's featured in the menu. If we go back for a show I want to see, we'll probably just have a drink, watch the show and eat somewhere else.

City Winery Atlanta fell all the way off

By Zee K |

Visited for the Ed Lover mixtape show 4/28 (awesome show btw). The venue was hot at 8pm. If you must force a $25 per person food and beverage minimum then make it good. It took over 30 minutes for a server to come take our food orders. $12 french fries came out cold. $21 shrimp scampi flatbed was terrible, the bread was completely wet, not toasted anywhere, lukewarm when it got to the table. $21 for six of the messiest wings we ever tasted, also served lukewarm. Our server brought out a drink we didn’t order but we paid for it and did not complain. Sat in close proximity to someone with obnoxious perfume. Ladies room was yuck!!! We left early. I am truly a fan of City Winery and this was easily my 10th time or so going. This visit felt like a waste of money (tickets, parking, food/drink approx $300). Hopefully they are mindful of the feedback. I doubt I will return.

Fantastic

By PW11803 |

Fantastic venue. Inexpensive wine selection combine with a great variety of name brand entertainment make for a great night out.

Great Date Night

By Denozzle |

Nice atmosphere and very clean. The wait staff was very good and friendly. The menu isn’t vast, but our dinner was very good. Although we didn’t reserve tickets for the event, they did have live music on the lower level. Reservations would be recommended if you’re having dinner.

Great venue, excellent acoustics in room

By 549sb4 |

Attended a concert of Joe Gransden's Big Band last evening. Excellent show and excellent sound. Seating is crowded which hinders the servers. Servers were attentive. Smoking good sounds We go here frequently to hear mostly jazz performers. It's always an enjoyable evening. The crowd is respectful of the musicians. Hearing the music is the reason for going here.

FYI about your visit

By Laura L |

Tables seat 4 but it is still very tight. Not much table room or walkway space. Next time we will pick the Mezzanine and sit next to the rail. Table is for 2 but more space and couple cozy. Only one bathroom in the whole place at the entrance. No drink minimum but 1 top shelf cocktail was $14.00. Steep!. Very loud but you can talk into the persons ear next to you. bands sound was very good. Staff was nice and attentive but busy. We parked at the Market on Ponce. Pay to park at the entrance sign to the market at a kiosk. $6.00 We will diffidently go again.

Good acoustics, good food, lousy seating

By Tina G |

Saw sold out show last night for Hot Tuna. Our server Keisha(?), was great! We had flatbread of the day, which was basically BBQ pizza. It was good, but to me, didn’t resemble flatbread. Show was great!! We sat in back right in front of VIP seats. Three rectangular 4 people tables side by side to make one long table. You’re literally inches from person next to you. When seated, you’re not facing stage, so you have to maneuver around to avoid sore neck and back, something we had hard time with. Chairs are solid wood. If we come back, pay for VIP or sit at the end of table with more room to move around.

The Good, The Bad and The .......Annoying

By MissMem |

The atmosphere in the downstairs showroom was good. The entertainment was good. The server took part of our group's orders and then disappeared for a bit. Then he came back with the rest of our drinks and finished taking orders. Then 5 of our 6 meals were served. My husband did not get his dinner until the rest of us were finished with ours. We asked the server several times for the missing meal. Then we all agreed the food was pretty mediocre with smallish portions for a big price. The seating arrangement should be improved. It was difficult to see performers at long tables perpendicular to the stage and being the sixth person at the end seat.

Date Night

By Dan S |

Always great entertainment, however food takes forever to get and in not a good quality. All out food took 45 mi s to get and was under cooked and cold. Drinks very expensive, one scotch was 24$. The are many great places to eat and drink right outside the venue. Go for the entertainment- skip the dinks/ food if you can-

Love it, but the food can be better

By Juliana H |

I went for the Latina Who Travel Meet Up First time in Atlanta. The venue is Amazing, has a beautiful decoration, and the service is excellent. The manager took car your needs. The wine selection is extensive, and we enjoyed different brands. However, the food wasn´t the best. I had Kale salad with chicken and the chicken had a funny taste. But, if you are visiting Atlanta, this a must place to go.

Engagement Party Perfection

By Dumonder D |

My son and his fiancée celebrated their engagement at City Winery, July 31, 2021. We booked with Jenielle, she helped guide us as to what we wanted verses what they offered. She was phenomenal. She was patient when we changed our minds about the food, headcount etc. Niko was the Manager on duty the evening of the event and he went above and beyond by actually downloading our playlist onto his iPad because for some reason my phone wouldn’t connect. He needs a raise!! :) Servers Hannah, Perry and another young lady who’s name escapes me we’re extremely helpful and professional. Jaime the bartender was fantastic and made everyone happy with drinks and her winning personality. Last and not least was the food. The food was delectable, just delicious!!! All of the guests wanted more! We are forever grateful to the all of the City Winery Staff-Atlanta that made the engagement party a success! We will recommend you to everyone!

Dinner & Ana Popvic Show

By David F |

My wife & my first trip to City Winery. They have a great menu and wine list. We arrived early & had Margherita Flatbread and spicy fries. Very good and huge portions. Waitresses were attentive and friendly. We had stage side seats for the show. I've never sat so close to an act. Definitely will be returning.

Amazing food

By LDHHRW |

Went for a friends birthday and while the service lacked the food was absolutely amazing! We had the fried risotto and loved it so much we wound up ordering a second round of them! The burgers and truffle fries are a must try!

Beware kitchen is nasty and have roach problem

By Tommy |

The shows are great. But the kitchen is disgusting. The venue ceiling is literally falling apart and on customers. They care more about their bonuses, and taking trips instead of their customers and employees. They have roaches like crazy. The executive chef is never there and won't help fix the problem. They got shut down because the kitchen was nasty and they didn't have hot water. It took for the health inspector to come in and close them. Even though an employee burned himself boiling pots of water to wash dishes. If you do attend a show eat before you go and wear a helmet..

Good Concert Venue, Sub-Par as a Dining Establishment

By Debia M |

As a concert venue, very good (in the VIP section - it has comfortable chairs and people aren't sardined into tables as they are in the "regular" part of the venue). As a dining establishment, eh, and the prices are high for what you get. My husband and I were here for a concert and decided to eat here. There is a short but full menu and an extensive wine and drinks list. The service was very good and friendly. My husband and I each ordered the cheeseburger with fries, and they came out very quickly and hot. The cheeseburger was tasty, cooked to order, but very greasy. The fries were a disaster - limp, greasy, and so over-salted as to be almost inedible. There were a lot of fries, I just couldn't eat them. It looked like other people had food that may have been better, but I don't know what they were eating - it was dark. Next time I go for a concert I'll eat beforehand.

Excellent concert, the wine remains good but the food disappoints

By Amy P |

We went to city winery for a concert that was amazing. The musicians excellent, the acoustics were more than adequate and the crowd was welcoming and not overly loud. However, while the wine was tasty, the food options haven’t changed much in two years and were uninspired at best. City winery charged like an upscale wine bar for their food but doesn’t deliver. Too many greasy or fried or over sauced options with no depth of flavor or refinement. The “flatbread” was an undercooked pizza at best. Perhaps they can’t handle the volume of diners during a concert, I don’t know. We’ve been before and the food was slightly better in the past - I’ve been there for several concerts and movies and really like the venue concept.

Here to see a concert

By Flylowe |

Located in the old Sears building, for those of old enough to remember, which today is Ponce City Market. Parking can be an issue and you do have to pay for it. Good Venue but no cheap eats/drinks Microbrewery ... and a decent selection of wines Two tickets $54 with fees Bottle of Pilot Noir .. $52 for a $22 bottle of wine Shrimp and Grits .. $25 Duck Confit Tacos .. $14 Total for the night... $150.00 Very nice place and not a bad seat to see a show. Upstairs is a great place to hang and eat or eat downstairs before or during the show. Next time I'll eat somewhere else and see the show after.

OUTNOF STEAK AND PORK CHOPS

By Clara P |

A. Birthday dinner with friends. After 45 min they came to tell us that they run out of steak and pork chops... in a Saturday night and it wasn't really crowded. It was a shame since we actually did a reservation so I assumed they could be prepared.

They Just Can't Get it Right

By Givemeparkavenue |

Damn! Tried again and still the service is miserable! Arrived around 2 PM yesterday (Sat 7/7/18) for lunch and ended up sitting at the bar since the place was empty. First mistake. Bartender had another couple and moved at an amazingly slow pace. We finally ordered and she slowly made our drinks. A third couple sat down by now so we figured we'd better order food since it had already taken 15 minutes to be acknowledged and served a cocktail. We did. 15 minutes later one entree arrived. Was told the other would be "out in a few". 10 minutes later, no food. 5 minutes later finally got her attention and she said, "it takes 15 minutes to make a flatbread". I reminded her it has already been 25 minutes and why would a cook send out one entree without the other because now one of us would be done eating while the other one continued to wait for food! She literally glared at me and went to find out where the flatbread was. By this time another bartender had arrived - Will - and he at least cared about what was going on. "She" took another 5+ minutes to return during which we discussed with Will that they either forgot to make it or someone left it sitting there. "She" came back up and never came near us. Will asked her where our flatbread was and she told HIM, that they made a mistake and burnt it and had to make another. She never approached us, she never apologized for the inconvenience, she basically didn't care if we ever saw that food. Will jumped and apologized, offered a free cocktail (we declined) and helped us with a gift card issue (side props to the manager who fixed our gift card - she was great). Finally got the pizza and had a couple pieces - took the rest home. Will got us a to-go box and our check. "She" never came near us again. I think it's a shame that a person with complete disregard for guests and a complete lack of concern about the company in general would still be employed. If this is the kind of person you want serving drinks and anything else, you should be ashamed. Will saved the day...the other girl (can't say woman, because she pouted like a child) should be put in the back of the house where she can hide her misery.

Great Music Venue but the Menu Not So Much

By Bryan M |

We have been to City Winery a number of times and it is a great small venue for music, but I'm not sure what is good on with the dinner menu. You used to be able to get good food with decent portions (really good burger and fries, salmon with grits, etc.). We went to see Al Stewart and the not only had the prices gone up, the portions have become ridiculously small. $25 for 6 shrimp and nothing with it. $13 for a small portion of truffle fries. The pizza is a sure bet, as is the hanger steak, which actually includes a side. Most everything else is ala carte. In the future we'll grab dinner elsewhere first.

Bad Experience

By qwert12341 |

We came here for my Birthday. Ordered 4 appetizers and ordered 3 entrees - at $20-27 per plate and also couple of glasses of wine. With all that, you would have thought we would have been taken care of. After sitting there for over 30 minutes, we had not gotten any of the appetizers. Said something to the waiter, and a few minutes later we got the one of the appetizers. Said something a little later again because none of the other appetizers had come and he said the food was coming. People around us who had gotten there later were getting their appetizers and food. After sitting there for about an hour and 15 minutes with no additional appetizers, much less food... We told the manager that we had to go. About that time ALL of the food showed up at the table at once. Appetizers are supposed to come out first, right? They did comp the food and we boxed it up. But it was overall a bad experience. The “large” plates are small for what you pay. Not impressed with this place at all.

Standing Room Only

By JP |

After purchasing Lloyd tickets, I received an email stating our phones would be locked and it was standing room only. If I had known, there would be no chairs available to even eat and cafeteria style food would be available, I would not of spent over $200 for this experience. The food was cafeteria quality. There were no chairs allowed even though there was plenty of room in the back and the security guards were sitting. We stood in line for 45 minutes to buy a drink from the bar and Lloyd decided to grace us at 8:45 for a concert that began at 8. We left at 9:15. We were starving, our feet hurt, and we couldn’t even use our phones. It would of been nice to have known these details before purchasing the non refundable tickets. Very dissatisfied!

Good Food, Excellent Concert Venue

By 2017JCY |

The concert was amazing. My husband and I enjoyed the Anita Baker concert on Monday 8/14/17. The tables are very close together. The food is good but pricey and not worth the price. I had the burger and fries and my husband had the fried chicken. The long island that he ordered was not a lot of substance. The atmosphere is great and very romantic. Our server was great as well. The customer service was great from the moment we walked in. The concert was jammed packed but very well maintained.

Procol Harum Concert

By charleslambert392 |

Loved the music and the variety of future events. Nice venue with table and chair seating. Ashley did a good job with our drinks and food. Great young lady. Food is pricy for what you get. We came early to eat as the show was sold out. The chicken BLT was good and hot. The fries had been around for a while though. Once agian they were out of many of the few craft beers they had on the menu. I wonder if they only get one 6 pack of each. The food and drinks are pricey for small portions and average food.

Great place for a night out

By Mike M |

Not many places like this! The service was exceptional from start to finish with a friendly, knowledgeable server and wait staff. The food is a little pricy, but very good and the entertainment we saw was awesome. Roomy tables didn't make you feel like they were trying to get as many people as possible in the room. Has the chicken and it was hot and crisp. Wife had the duck tacos and she was impressed as well. I'll be back!

Relaxed Saturday evening

By jettingjh |

Enjoyed a very relaxing couple of hours on the back patio. Live music and delicious wine. We ordered some appetisers to share - Brussel sprouts were the highlight. A great place.

Guess they forgot the 20% meal discount

By shellietravis |

The evening was nice enough, Kris Kristofferson was wonderful, the setup quite decent. But we made a point of arriving before 7:00 pm to receive the 20% discount on food, mentioned it to the server, but didn't get it. I called and the General Manager said he'd have someone call to fix but nobody ever did. Really it was never worth the effort but I thought it was the principle.

Great Spot to Chill

By 268myral |

This was our first outing during our staycation anniversary weekend. We were determined to try new places, new food, new venues etc during our long weekend of celebrating. This place did not disappoint. We saw Arrested Development and they had an amazing show. The food and the wine were both good. I sat at a table with other people I did not know and they were all lovely. I highly recommend you visit for yourself.

Awesome entertaining but food ok

By DrAlias |

We check out this spot for a concert and ordered food and drinks. The house red wine was delicious, but the fried chicken, collard greens was just ok. It was too much batter on the chicken and it was not good at all. The greens was not seasoned, but the place and entertainment was excellent! I recommend this place for entertainment and wine, but the food is questionable.

Good venue - terrible chairs!

By HelpfulAngel |

We went to see the standup comedian Tom Green at City Winery. The venue itself was pretty nice. Our tickets said that the show would start at 7:00 pm but the show didn't start until 8:30pm! The service was good. We ate before we went and just ordered drinks and dessert. We ordered their Italian wine but they said they were out of it. So they gave us some bubbly sweet Italian wine instead which tasted like juice. Their chocolate cake was good. The tables are very close together so if you go with a group that would be fine but if you go as a couple you might find it awkward sitting with people you don't know. The chairs were wooden and very uncomfortable. Next time I will take cushions. My backside was sore from sitting on those chairs for so many hours!

Food and wine were good, service was slow...

By Danielle S |

We went there as part of their Saturday night Wine Down Weekends. The music was great (Southern Ska Syndicate), the wine was good, and the food was very good - i had the burrata salad, sister had the rizotto balls (meh) and we shared the mushroom flat bread (Wonderful!!!) but the only thing that was annoying was the service. Took forever until someone came to take our order, then forever till they got back with a rag to clean the very dirty table, and then a while before they came to check on us and give us our check. One of the higher tables in the back on the patio is dangerously wobbly and needs to be fixed before it tips over with full wine glasses on it.

Nice entertainment venue, mediocre food and poor service

By jasonamf |

I really like the venue for a small upscale music space. The food was mediocre at best. Since it is a local winery, I was looking forward to sampling the wine, however, at $12.00 for a glass of cab I'll pass. The service from the wait staff was terrible. Appeared to be very unorganized. I would definitely go again to a concert, but I would definitely eat and drink before going.

Beautiful setting, service lacking!

By Ddorc58 |

I love the setting, beautiful restaurant and the intimate setting and low lights were nice. Service started off ummm, so-so. We don't have grilled aspharagus. How, the place just opened. Ordered food, my companions received theirs in 45mins to an hour, after two hours, talking to 4 people, 2 who claimed to be management, 1 free drink for one of guests, but me, no. I got nothing. 2.5 hrs later, I still had nothing. The ladies seated down from me, got their food in 2hrs and ordered first, it was the wrong order as well. The other 3 tables surrounding me never got food, never got their drinks refreshed. Well, I say all of this to say, better management, better service and better food will make this a better, perhaps 4-5 star restaurant. But serving food 2 hours later and serving a burnt hamburger, with no cheese, no bacon and on a slider bun is not acceptable. However, Thank you to Management/Owner who comped the entire table. I would like to come back here and have a better experience and so I leave you with these few words. Yes, the customer is always right and even if the customer is not right, defer to management.

Tab minimum due to lacking sales from incompetent servers.

By Hal D |

Hal Davis Shared with Public I got this notice from City Winery yesterday. As I am a big supporter of the City Winery Atlanta (between 60-80 shows) I appreciate Michael Doff's concerns. However, I am amazed that he chose to put this issue onto the patrons and NOT his wait staff. The last 6 plus shows, I was left wanting more food and drinks to no avail. The server came by when we got there and took our drink and food order. We planned on getting more food and drinks, but didn't see the server again until 30 minutes before the shows end to close the tab. At one point I almost went to the bar to order myself but chose not to do the work of the server and accept that my order business was not a priority. I'm surprised that the GM, while looking over the nights receipts, and seeing that large swaths of tables only ordered one drink and one food order didn't discuss this with the staff. The service has always been spotty but never as bad as it has been in the last 6 to 8 months. Better training is in order. Certainly better sales performance. Let me also say, the food staff and the food is remarkable. The front office staff and greeters are also very helpful and friendly. The upstairs dinner area is also very well handled. But if Mr. Doff is expecting to put a tab minimum on my visits, I will not be coming to his establishment any longer. My last show will be this Friday with Tinsley Ellis. Hopefully you will take my review here to heart and choose another path forward. City Winery The Subdudes

By howaboutbob |

Doors opened at 6:00 for an 8:00 show. We sat down at 6:30 and were promptly served. Two glasses of wine, grilled asparagus, and the cheese tour. Bill came to 49.00 plus tip. Service was quick and attentive. The concert was excellent with a good play list. Having been a Subdudes fan since 1987 we had no complaints with the band. I purposely chose seating on the edge, stage right, below the VIP section. We had open space behind us, so we could move our chairs as needed to see around the heads in front of us. We had plenty of room. However, be warned, if you get seats toward the middle, you will be packed in like sardines. I saw people back to back, elbow to elbow, trying to eat, drink, and see. No thanks. Chose you're seating wisely or you will have a rough night. Speaking of seating, the chairs are very hard and uncomfortable. They are kind of like sitting on a vise. After 2-3 hours you will be hurting. We are on the wait list for Edwin McCain.

Great Place!

By Angelofmcy |

Great Wine, was a bit pricy. They do have frequent concerts there. It's a nice small venue for that, but if you are not upfront you have to constantly look over the wait staff as they continue to serve during the show. The food was good, and a bit pricy as well. Nice night out for couples.

the music venue is amazing - the restaurant Not so much

By irishwhiskey1 |

the music venue is nice - it is a listening room so the tables and chairs are very. close together. so get end seats so you dont have to climb over people The service is slow very slow both in the upstairs restaurant as well as the music venue area. the food - it is expensive and not worth the price - also very hit or miss with the quality and taste of what is delivered but in the restaurant as well as the music venue. I have eaten there at least 6 times usually for concert and two different chefs - the food is still just so so. the cocktails are EXPENSIVE. they have a great selection of wines including their own wine.

The Place for Wine and Entertainment in Atlanta

By Ray C |

Next to the Ponce City Market in downtown Atlanta, the City Winery provides over 300 selections of award winning wines, combined with excellent food service and entertainment. Our choir group attended the the weekly show, featuring an outstanding local band, lead by a church member. The Winery is decorated with authentic wine barrels and other wine decor throughout. We were on the showroom level and had food service from the restruant above. The selections of wines were both local and global, served from the tap or in bottles. Priced reasonably, we enjoyed the tap, handcrafted Chardonnay 2017 and "Sweet & Simple" Red 2016. We also had food selections that were tasty and generous in size! Our server took excellent care of our group of five and we enjoyed a wonderful evening of wine, food and entertainment. Prices mid- range and suggest reservations be made. Enjoy the City Winery🍷🍷🍷

Rodriguez

By Lorie L |

We’d seen Rodriguez years ago and were looking forward to the show. It was so very disappointing and quite depressing. His voice has really gone downhill and though he was supposed to answer questions that audience members had submitted previously, he was unable to coherently and completely respond, but simply muttered a few words. Tickets were $95 a piece for this 35 minute show, and we felt like we were bamboozled.

The worst wine in a ling while

By Dragan K |

We went for a Maritza concert which was amazing! We ordered a bottle of Boneshaker Zin - $47,and found it’s name to be absolutely adequate. It was the worst wine I ever tried. Wine captain took it away and we ordered a pint carafe of their house Pinot Noir $36. I am not certain if it was the same wine or not, but it sure tasted as bad as the first one, so we did not drink almost any. Shame for the place calling itself winery.

Great intimate atmosphere

By Earnest W |

Went to a show, love the venue. Great place to see your favorite artist preform. Food and drinks were good.

Great time

By livelife h |

Had a great time, we went to see Arrested Development. What a great show. The staff were friendly and the food was pretty good. There were some items that was sold out. You scan the menu and order and pay on the phone.

Wine time in the city!!

By Jessica P |

Great place to sit on the patio have some wine, hummus, and cheese boards! The flights were a great way to taste their wines. Inside is absolutely beautiful.

Love The Music Forget the Food!

By sunlouie |

First time to visit and this really is a great music venue. That being said, when there is a concert most of the patrons come in at the same time so that makes it very hard for the wait staff to be to handle the large crowd. Also the food is very mediocre and overpriced. If we go again we will definitely get something to eat before and just drink and enjoy the music.

Awesome music venue, good wine, disappointing dessert

By Steve B |

My husband and i and two friends thoroughly enjoyed a concert in this comfortable and stylish music venue. We were interested in trying one of the City Winery wines. Shortly after being seated, one of the sommoliers, James, arrived at our table. We had already pretty much decided on the Petite Sirah, and our choice was confirmed after he said the Sweet and Simple Red was "aggressive grape juice" despite being their best seller, and that the Petite Sirah was a favorite. I would say that site lines for the stage are great from any seat in the house, and the sound system was really superb. The only disappointment was the Sweet Potato Cheesecake, a slice of plain cheese cake with four sloppy dabs of mashed sweet potato on top and a few once-melted-but-now-just-really-unpleasantly-chewy marshmallows. Still, we're looking forward to another show here.

Not worth the price!

By segparrot |

Attended a recent concert. Arrived early...they advertised 20% off food if seated before 7:00....turned out the 20% off will cover the food and alcohol taxes...oh well! HOWEVER the food choices were limited...our meal was not very tasty.....bland...should have been excellent for the price they charged. We were surprised about the blah food but the wine wasn't very good either and it was $10 and up for a glass! We loved the atmosphere and Otis our server was great! However if we were to go again for a concert we wouldn't waste our money on food or drink

Food is terrible not worth the visit

By ljrapp16 |

The place is great for a concert but the food is just terrible. Ordered the Goat cheese mushroom balls and they were so bad I had to send them back. This is the second time the food and service here was just so bad it makes you not want to come here again. The concert prices, food and drinks prices are so high that if you can't enjoy what you are eating and drinking with a great concert then it is just not worth going to this establishment.

So sad understaffed

By Travels2much |

Great music venue with a sad staff. Don’t know why the staff can’t get the number system down - good news they delivered food that we didn’t order. We are frequent patrons and attend 5+ concerts at City Winery each year. The drink cost is way too high - weak cocktails and slow service. Attended a concert on Thursday evening perhaps half full. It took our waitress 17 minutes to acknowledge us then an additional 21 minutes for our first cocktail. Again you pay a huge premium - sadly even without a packed concert they were short staffed and didn’t seam to care. Now they have tried to add the small cards on top of the bottles to signal staff. Perhaps it would work if they cared - sadly all too often it’s just ignored. Again great music venue - solid sound - solid musicians so it’s a great place to see an outstanding concert - just lower - then lower again your expectation for the staff. Perhaps pre drink / eat. Sorry - this review is tough however after consistent failures perhaps one day they will reboot customer service.

THIS PLACE TIGHT LIKE BERRIES ON A VINE

12/14/2023 "DWELE" CONCERT......THIS PLACE IS OVERRATED...VERY TIGHT SPACE/ ROOMS/ AREA... CONGESTED TABLE SITTING.... CONCERT AREA (ELBOW -TO- ELBOW ROOM AND YOU SHARE THE SAME TABLE WITH OTHER PPL)...THE BAR/ DINNING AREA ...VERY CLOSE SITTING THROUGHTOUT ...NO SOCIAL DISTANCE....."IF YOU ARE TRYING TO CATCH THE FLU OR COV-19..THIS WOULD BE THE PLACE"...OH EAT BEFORE YOU GO.... THE FOOD OVERPRICED.... PAID $12.00 FOR COLD FRENCH FRIES AND SERVE CHEAP WINE IN A NICE BOTTLES ...I LOVED THE SHOW UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL..THATS THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS PLACE

Talib Kweli Concert...Service is Lacking

By Valerie W |

I attended the Talib Kweli concert, which was phenomenal. The ticket prices were outstanding. There isn't a bad seat in the concert venue. The seating situation does require you to crane your neck a bit to view the stage. The wait staff were horrible. After being seated, we waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged by Lee or Leah, the waitress. After taking our food and drink orders it took another 30 minutes to receive my food and 20 minutes for my friend's food to arrive. My food arrived with no silverware or napkin. I had to flag down another waiter to obtain those items. The seating causes the staff to have to reach over and in front of you to deliver orders to other patrons obstructing your view during the show. The food was good, I have to admit. We had to hunt the waitress down after the show ended to pay our bill. She just didn't seem interested in collecting the tab. I'll attend shows at City Winery again, however, I'll have dinner elsewhere before arriving.

Brunch Show ***

By Keith W |

Attended for Sunday Brunch. Have attended several events at this venue. This particular event was Ottis Reading, Al Greene Southern Soul Brunch/ music was excellent, that brunch was awful, have had better at hotel buffet. The regular menu is sufficient but is not available at brunch. Crowd came for the music and enjoyed the music but that food was awful. Purchased 1 round of drinks , would have liked another but drink service was slow.

What a great concert venue!

By Laura R |

Everyone was so accommodating and happy to have people there! I had dinner there with a friend before a concert and felt very safe - they test their staff and guests must have a neg. C-19 test or be vaccinated. I appreciate their care!

Excellent venue

By Danielle P |

Customer Service: 5 Ambience: 5 Location/Parking: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Reservations: Yes, I'd highly recommend prior reservations because the venue is small and can get crowded very fast depending on the headliner. The City Winery is situated in the heart of the Atlanta downtown, and there is plenty of nearby parking garages. There is also some street parking nearby, but I wouldn't count on it because this area is very popular for locals and tourists. The decor inside City Winery is a stunning mix of luxury, and modernity. Every table provides a clear view of the artist performing, but there is hardly no social distance between their customers. The staff was very friendly and helpful during our entire experience. Overall experience was definitely a 5 star rating, because everything from the parking, venue, atmosphere, and ambience was just exceptional. I'm pretty positive that we will be back in near future when we visit this area!

Disappointing Service

By msgapeach404 |

Was there last night to see Howard Hewitt and the service was horrible. I was so upset about it because the ticket prices are not cheap and neither are the food prices. I arrived early with the intention of eating my food BEFORE the concert. There were 4 people in our party and each of our entrees came out at least 25 mins apart. I waited for 45 mins for my fried chicken, when I saw the group next to me receive their chicken when they ordered after me, I asked my server about my food and she said the kitchen is a mess and we have over 400 people here so it will come out with its ready. Really? How did the lady next to me get hers before me? when my meal arrived the concert had already started. The food had no flavor what so ever and the mash potatoes were cold. Our Servers name was Jordan. She was pleasant at the beginning of the evening as I had arrived early but as the night and crowd grew she became irritable. My plan was to talk to a manager however I saw her (or someone that appeared to be the manager? surrounded by people and even refunding items from customers tabs. I did not have time to wait. So I wrote Poor Service on my tab and left a minimal tip. The service pretty much ruined the concert for me. Very disappointing as I was just about to become a member because the venue is beautiful.

Great experience until the lights came back up

By kindwat |

This was a fun, confined and a "sexy" place. The tables are reserved by you and make sure you have the table reserved if you are attending a concert. You are escorted there...nice plus. We went to see Musiq Soulchild there and the show was okay. I wouldn't pay $60 again to see him but it was a fun place. He used the nerd when some ppl. Continued to live stream his concert. I was offended and he needs to understand that we are a sophisticated crowd and not in some raunchy nightclub. Watch the billing because some people around us were overcharged. I would suggest cash because it is dark and I wouldn't give my credit card to anyone who is not in my sight. I'm not implying any type of dishonesty that happened while we were there....I am just thinking of money safety and protecting your identity. I never received my coke because I do not drink and the waitress remembered all of the wine and cocktails but couldn't remember a simple coke. My party members said the food was okay but we are all chefs. The temperature of the room was good. The ONLY thing that peeved me off was that after concert the bouncer/help came over to our table while we were waiting on our Uber.* This was less than five minutes after the show ended...he was rude and said "we are closed, ya'll have to leave." It is cold, heavy raining and wind was blowing and you all are kicking us out? The lady next to me spent $150 in food and drinks...I spent $60 for a ticket and the uber ride to and from city winery...and this is how we are treated???!!! They need to have an area where people can safely wait for their ride....there are homeless and drug heads in this area. This was disappointing, at best. The staff needs to understand that they are still expected to treat the guests with respect and approach them better than we were. It was like we have you spend your money, now get out! Other than this and the uber gouging....it was a good night. * See note:($117 for 15 miles, I would suggest driving and paying for parking. ) It cost me $27 to go for 30 min. And after the concert it would have cost me $87 for the same 30 min. Unless you split the fare be prepared to pay quadruple the rate with Uber.

Challenging sight lines and comfort

By kendellbrink |

First time at City Winery for the Eliana Elias concert. Easy access to the venue with good parking at a reasonable price. Cramped seating at tables with limited room for repositioning chairs, watched the entire show with our necks craned right. The acoustics are very good and the seating somewhat intimate. The concert itself was great! Food and beverages are available and the service is non-intrusive during the show. We did not order food; husband ordered a glass of wine from the limited selection-it was okay.

Ninja waiter and good music

By charleslambert392 |

Went to the Zoey Keating concert and had a nice time. The venue is tables and chairs with nice view of stage for all seats. Sound continues to be great. The food sounds good on the menu and is not toobad when it arrives. A little pricey for average quality. Full bar, wines made on site and craft beers were very good. Ashley was our ninja waiter. He did his job well. Got our order and got it fixed properly. I call him ninja since he took care of all his patrons quickly, quietly and professionally. Never saw him coming and water was refilled, plates vanished, check appeared, etc. This is excellent for service during a performance. Large variety of performances and special events at good prices. Check website for dates and times. If you just want the music and nothing else then this can be your place as well.

Great venue

By Masseys |

I had a good time at the City Winery but I wish they would do a better job with the seating. I understand that you want to maximize the space but everyone does not want to sit with everyone. Something service isn't the best but I enjoyed the atmosphere. Always good for a date, girls night out or just happy hour.

Food and Drinks Horrible

By Tuere P |

Yesterday was my second time visiting City winery this year. I gave it a low score because one, the cauliflower was not season at all. It taste as if they boiled it and put place the sauce on top only. The food is cook to order but both times waiting over an hour for food with does not taste good. The drinks.......taste watered down and the tables are so close to the next table, you cant eat without touching someone else. Once again, food and drinks are extremely disappointing and both times the waiter gave an excuse about the kitchen (the kitchen is overwhelmed and backed up). Unprofessional.

Too many sardines in the can!

By marty l |

Do not buy premium seating for a show there unless you like being jammed into a space just big enough for your chair. Waiter took our drink order and a different waiter later showed up with my wife's drink but mine never arrived. Lucky I had my flask with me :)

Time to fire the chef and get a new one!!

By Con L |

I love this place. I've been going since it opened. The venue is just fantastic. It's a great date night spot, go with a bunch of friends or by yourself. Either way you'll feel comfy. However, the food is really bad. I had the duck tacos last night which were utterly and totally tasteless. It confounds me as to how a restaurant/venue like this can see so many reviews that talk about how crumby the food is and not get it. Really?? What does management not understand?? I've never had anything good on the menu. Nothing! Even mediocre food would be better than the stuff they serve. It's sad. I'll still go but right before the show starts for a beer or a glass of wine and some good entertainment. But never ever the food.

Tour of the winery

By travelgirl315 |

Went on a private tour of the winery, tasting wines in different stages of the process along the way. The tour ended in a tasting with a delicious charcuterie board complete with wine grapes. Would return to see a show.

Great music venue

By Marc K |

Great small music venue with excellent food. My first visits but now on their email list for upcoming acts. Easy inexpensive parking. If you are a couple you may share a four top but that even made it more fun.

Don't miss this if you are in Atlanta!

By Jerseytraveler08540 |

This was one of our favorite places to eat in Atlanta. The service was outstanding (Jasmine and Domo--the best)! The food was delicious. We ordered appetizers for dinner and each one was better than the next. The risotto balls are a must!

Concert at City Winery

Unique restaurant and concert venue. Loved the intimate atmosphere. The food was pricey but it was very good and we were served throughout the concert. It was a fabulous anniversary date night.

Horrible horrible avoid at all costs

Charges me 120+20 tip for a bottle of bubbles. Found out in their page menu is suppose to be 55. Check the credit card statement they charge 175. Don’t come to this place unless you want to be scammed. I’m disputing the charge with my cc and never coming back. So sorry for the performers since they were quite good

They KNOW Wine!

By ashsaidit.com |

Now that we're in summer months all the festivals have begun. One place that remains consistent throughout seasons is City Winery ATL. This place has the most extensive variety of wines that I've ever seen. They are the city's only urban winery, intimate music venue, restaurant, bar and private event space under one roof! Wow. I can't even recall how many times I've visited. Clients have met me here for lunch, I've caught up with colleagues over drinks here and I've enjoyed a few shows solo. With their vineyard just down the street, it's not a wonder why there are new wines added regularly. My mood will usually lead me to my drink of choice. Sometimes, it's a rose kind of day. While other times, chardonnay is calling my name. Either way I'm never disappointed with my selection. I think the biggest misconception is that they are all about drinks. That is simply not true. Whether you're visiting for a comedy show or you make it in time for happy hour, there are many impressive food options. Meat eaters are always welcome. Many are pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian and vegan selections. They are very inclusive and cover all bases. Recently, I was invited to a media tasting event at City Winery ATL. While at this affair, I was introduced to their most popular menu items. The spread prepared for us was magnificent. Everything from fried chicken, salmon and their infamous flatbread were ready for our consumption. I don't frequent too many spots that have good hummus. The hummus here is sensational. It isn't bland at all. It is perhaps the best hummus in Atlanta. It tastes homemade and I could really appreciate the blend. Brussel sprouts were not my favorite growing up. What kid ate this dish willingly? They smelled funny and tasted even worse. City Winery ATL makes the best Brussel sprouts of all time! Between the feta cheese and the wine vinaigrette, it creates a melodious symphony you won't soon forget. I was smiling from ear to ear when they brought out my favorite dish. The Margherita pizza. I get this every single time I visit. Sometimes I share with friends. Other times I enjoy it with a glass of bubbly. It's always a great choice. Executive Chef Nicholas Anderson passed through to drop some knowledge about astonishing creations. I was delighted to learn that most of the ingredients are locally sourced. That's so important. Chef also told us that he can be found any given day at the local farmers market getting fresh food for the restaurant. Head Winemaker Travis Green is Atlanta's only winemaker. His family has been making wine for generations. City Winery ATL was fortunate to get him. It was such a pleasure getting a tour of the winery from him. He gave a lot of insightful tips along the way. #citywineryatl #ashsaidit #atlanta

Choice Location for Couples Night Out

By Vema A. |

My husband and I scheduled to attend a concert time at City Winery. It was our first time visiting this venue, and we'd heard decent things about it. The primary criticism was related to the size of the location. It's somewhat small, but I appreciated the intimate feel. Though those who chose to be seated on the main level, closer to the stage seemed a bit crowded at their tables for 10, my husband and I were quite comfortable on the mezzanine level, close to the bar and with easy access to the restrooms and exit. Our table for two was perfect, and we had an unobstructed, straight-forward view of the stage. There really is no bad seat in the entire place. It was a great show! The hosts were timely and the artists came down off stage to mingle amongst the patrons. We went back into the 90's with headliners, AFTER 7 and their featured guests, LeVelle and Christopher Williams [presented with a plaque from an Atlanta councilman who proclaimed 12/27 Christopher Williams' day in the city]. We'll definitely be returning. The future lineup is great.

Great music venue & the foods pretty good

By StevenHScher |

We went to see the Zombies. The venue is pretty intimate & the acoustics are great. I have two complaints about the music portion of my review. First the way the tables are situated, depending where you are seated & how rude the people are sitting in front of you, you will likely have a partially blocked view of the performers. The two people in front of my wife were short but took up the whole aisle so my wife could not see. Secondly, the wait staff were annoying during the concert, going back & forth in front if us, sometimes blocking our view for several minutes. When they brought the checks during the concert it was even worse. Cut food service ofc during the concert & deliver the check before the concert. It was very, very, very distracting. As for the food, it was very good. We both had the hamburger, which was juicy & delicious. I had the fried as my side, my wife had the side salad. We shared the sweet potato cheese cake for dessert, which is a must. Absolutely delicious. The server Courtney was excellent. She was always filling our glasses, bringing extra catsup, etc. She was great. The Zombies were great. We enjoyed the evening very much.

Skip the Sunday brunch

By Jeffrey S |

While I didn’t attend a show, the venue looked like a nice place to take in your favorite artist or just hang out in the outdoor courtyard. What I can tell you is the Sunday brunch is not their strong suit. Took a chance and skipped the eateries in Ponce City Market and tried City Winery. How can you manage to mess up pancakes or corned beef hash with eggs over easy? Well, they did a very good job of it. While the staff seems OK the kitchen needs help as does the overall eating experience. No salt and pepper on the tables. Bread anyone? Muffins, something, anything? Not here. The place was not crowed (I should have taken the hint.) yet the service (kitchen) was slow. I might catch a performance there but don’t go here expecting a good meal.

Great entertainmt but pretty tight space

By denisemV6139DW |

Nice venue. Great acts. But goodness... the tables are on top of each other and are pretty darn small. We are average sized people but if you're just a bit beyond that make sure you sit in the VIP section. We sat at a table for four and they could barely get food for us all on it. Chairs, unfortunately, were uncomfortable. They were hard as a rock, . But the band was great and food was very good. The venue is really cool and I love the intimate setting. But it's obvious they tried to maximize the space and it felt fairly uncomfortable in that regard. Bigger tables, spaced a little further apart, and a little cush on the seats, in my opinion, would make it perfect. I will add... we had a very nice time.

grab a glass!

Stopped by City Winery for a glass of wine after dinner. The location is great, right in Ponce City Market. They offer numerous wines and beers, a lot of which are local brands. They even have wine on tap in giant wine barrels! The atmosphere is great with a very upscale type feel. It is also a live music venue which we would like to go back for. Ask about their to-go wines!

Excellent venue & service.

I really like City Winery. I am not a fan of the $25 food & beverage fee but I love the venue and the service. I have been a few times and I forgot my servers name but I sit at table 46B each time and he is awesome! Great service and excellent attitude.

First visit to this music venue

By StevenHScher |

We came for the Simon & Garfunkle Tribute. We ordered dinner. I had the hamburger with fries ($16). It was large served with fries & it was excellent. The flat bread pizza's were very good. Our server, Olga, was excellent. The sweet potato cheese cake was delicious. The music was excellent and the venue is very nice & intimate. The staff was very friendly.

City Winery: For Lovers of Great Wines, Food & Music

By ruthieworldtravels |

City Winery Atlanta, a stones throw away from the popular Ponce City Market is a wonderful venue with a dinner atmosphere. Keep in mind meals and drinks are served during the performances. Set up for four(4) persons, tables can be easily pushed together for larger parties. Even though seating is assigned, every seat is a good seat. The venue is quite large and seats 300+ people, and can stand another few hundred. A spacious room with high ceilings, the acoustics are superb. Over the last decade many artists from various music genres have performed at City Winery. Robben Ford (BLUES,JAZZ, ROCK) of the Yellowjackets fame performed on the evening of my visit. The wine list is quite extensive. Partial to sweetness, I was surprised that there were no Rieslings on the Sommelier Selections on back of each menu. No worries, there were enough choices to choose from. My final choice was a Sweet & Simple White---with a sweetness somewhere between Sweet Reds and Rieslings---recommended by my waiter. Made locally in there winery, it went nicely with a shared Plate of Artisan Cheeses which consisted of hard, soft and blue, along with a Nut Covered Toffee. The Sweet & Simple White also went well with the Smoked and Cured Flatbread topped with Capicola (smoked pork shoulder) /Pepperoni/Salami/Ricotta and Mozzarella. The White Bean Hummus is also highly recommended for light snacking with wines. Overall, my evening at City Winery was a great dining experience, with attentive service from the staff and great music.

Go for the music, not for the food or service.

By Jeanne D |

I was so excited about this event. Friend coming from out of town dinner and music. The actual venue is really nice and for music not a bad seat in the room. We ordered a bottle of wine it was over an hour before we got it. It has to be served by a wine sommelier. Then we ordered appetizers and a couple of dinners to share. The appetizers were good the entree's were left and only picked at. The server never came and picked up our plates. After two hours we ended up putting them on an empty table next to us. We booked tickets again for music but we will never eat here again.

Excellent Music Venue

By Jim G |

Attended the Mindi Abair and the Boneshakers performance. Service was excellent. Food was very good. We had been here in January for a Jazz show with Grace Kelly. This was more of a Blues show and the music was much louder.

Quaint Venue But

By T W |

Small venue so music can be loud, best seats are middle to back. Food is OK if you need to eat. Service is OK. Prices are a little above average. Most shows are nice but tonight's show was a lemon. Keke Wyatt was terrible.

Birthday Celebration

By Songwriter2898 |

I and a group of friends came together to celebrate my birthday. We rented a wonderful space at the City Winery with our own bartender, fireplace, plenty of incredible wine and food. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Our room allowed us the ability to close doors and get as rowdy as we wished! It was the perfect spot for my annual Ladies celebration🎊 This was an unexpected gift from my husband that won’t be forgotten 💜

The better concert dining option

By jimthetourist |

Fairness in review, I’ve never dined at the Main City Winery restaurant area. What I’ve had in the stage or. On ert area was always excellent. Fried brussell sprouts, duck tacos, and the cheese or meat plate are my goto items for events. I’ve had rare ocassion for the expanded concert menu, i was very satisfied when i’ve had that opportunity. Desserts are also excellent neither small or large. The only complaint that i have is the food has turned up in haphazard order on ocassion, which is understandable given this is the concert area and they aim to get the foood and drink out ASAP.

Oleta Adams

By Richard R |

The Food and Oleta Adams show was amazing ! Our server was very attentive and our dinner was delivered in a timely manner.

Wine was decent, but more or less disappointed

By lookie-brookie |

Husband and I went to the Market to spend a little time while our girls were at a concert. At first, our waiter was very attentive and then really slacked off. We ordered Humus - which came with lavash as they called it. NO way hard as a brick. Then we ordered a charcuterie board. Similar thing - bread was stale. If it hadn't of taken as long as it did to get it, I would have sent it back but we were in a hurry and ate it anyway. We did the flight which was a good deal. A few I didn't care for, but the waiter/waitress was good about replacing it. Again, ok but not worth the $75 we paid.

Music, Wine, Bad Food

By Bret Hampton |

Visit the City Winery for the 1st time. We got Free Tickets. The Music groups with Manic After Dark was Good. The Wine was Great, but we didn't get the same amount as the next table, who ordered the same glass of wine. Why? The Food, the Chicken was Good, but you don't have a choice of pieces, for $20. The Collards were more Stems than Collards, they were suppose to be cooked with Turkey,, but all we could taste was the Vinegar. We won $100 Coupons that can only be used at the City Winery. Hopefully on our next visit some of things things will change. Management I Hope you are LISTENING!

Big Band Sound with Enough Wine to Go Around

By Marvin G |

This venue is small and intimate featuring concerts all the time. You can order food there, just have wine, or nothing and just enjoy the music. This was our first visit and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with the "big band" sounds of Joe Grandsden. The winery features both vocal and instrumental genres from coffee house folk to jazz and rock and everything in between. We will definitely keep the City Winery on our radar for upcoming events.

First time was a great time!

By 584libbyh |

We had tickets to see Shaun Cassidy and arrived early. While waiting at the bar, we enjoyed a delicious pinot and the hummus appetizer. The bartender was super friendly and quite knowledgeable. When the doors to the show opened downstairs we were seated quickly in the mezzanine which l had chosen because the table set ups were for two instead of four. Even though we were at "the back" of the venue, the seats and view were great. Our server, Dakota, was a complete gentleman and the best host. I would highly recommend the charcuterie board! It was packed with quality items and offered a variety of options. The Sweet & Simple White wine was delightful and perfect for a warm night. The show itself was fantastic and the attentive treatnent from the staff (especially Dakota) was the icing on the cake. We parked in the street level lot at Ponce City Market and had a pleasant one block walk each way. Based on other reviews, we stayed away from the main entrees and were definitely not disappointed with our choices, which were quite filling. Extra points for the pickles that came with the hummus and the honey on the charcuterie tray!

Go for the Music not the food or service!

By Cam435 |

I gave City Winery a three star strictly because of the musical entertainment. I've been to 7-8 shows there, and I've never been disappointed in any of the shows. City Winery also has great atmosphere. Now the issues: City Winery ummmm not so much. The wine selection, quality, and prices are terrible or in Charles Barkley's word "turrible"! I've tried many of their wines up and down their menu, and to say that they were mediocre is a overstatement at those prices. Service is extremely slow and unenthused. The food menu is very hit or miss. I normally just get the cheese flight or charcuterie tray. And last but not least, they have a bar/liquor menu that they don't like to show because they don't have 70% items on it. If you're reading this, you might be asking why have I been there so many times. Just like the title of the review, I go for the music which is always phenomenal. You get to experience great artist in an intimate setting...If City Winery fixed the wine/service/liquor/food issues. This would be a 5plus star review.

Excellent shows much of the time, but food and service are just awful.

By DanTheMan |

I have seen many, many shows in this venue. I generally like the acoustics, the atmosphere, the layout of the tables, and I almost always have enjoyed the acts I've seen. What began as mediocre when the venue first opened has gotten worse and worse with every visit, the food and service. While friendly, the service is notoriously slow. For this reason, we will typically order two drinks knowing that they just can't promptly serve or refresh drink orders. As for the food, it was once okay, but time and again it is now served in a terrible state. The flatbreads will be dry and overcooked, the tacos bland and disappointing. This has gotten so bad that we make it a point to eat before we ever walk into City Winery. On top of all this, once you order, it can take forever for the servers, or perhaps the kitchen, to get your food to your table. If you are a wine drinker, they do have a good selection, and the same can be said for other beverage options. The prices are fair and comparable to any restaurant of the caliber that City Winery would prefer it be compared to. My advice is to go see the great acts play there that you want to see, but plan to eat beforehand.
