Good evening, I went to see the lalah Hathaway concert on Tuesday July 19th, 9:30 p.m. Lalah was wonderful, but the problem was no air-conditioning in the concert room, people complain to the manager, his excuse was the air-conditioning was controlled by the mall, but the rest of city winery was cool, but the concert room, he also said that a crowd draw heat. The problem had to be the concert room itself. That problem should have been handle before the concert.

This place as a restaurant is rubbish. The charges are over the top exhobitant with a nothing to write about quality. Don't think of being satisfied with the paltry quantity. The servers will even warn you that the portions are very small.

This is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! What we thought would be a lovely evening with dinner and music, so far is ridiculous!!! They have four people seated at a table large enough for two small children...I mean strangers, not a party of four. Two parties of two strangers!!! We can’t order dinner because there is NO ROOM ON OUR TABLE FOR IT!!! How is this even acceptable???? I paid very good money to be near the stage and be able to enjoy ourselves..my husband and my can’t have a conversation l, because I don’t want the Pelle next to me, hearing it and since we are basically on top of one another , we can’t even whisper. Totally disappointed and if it wouldn’t be a waste of money, I’d get up and leave. Shame on you city winery. Shame

I stopped by for lunch with my family as we were in the area and thought the place looked nice. The host was very pleasant and seated us right away. The lunch menu is very small so if you're looking for options this is not the place. I settled on the burger as it was the only thing that really seemed appealing to me. When my food was brought to the table, I immediately noticed the small portion of fries. My burger was very dry and I'm not even sure it was made fresh based upon the appearance and consistency of the meat. I wouldn't come here again as it was very overpriced for what you receive. It appears to be an establishment that has a nice wine selection and decided at the last minute to add food.

I was treated to see Miki Howard. I was impressed with her performance, but however the food was disappointing. I ordered the wings and they were burned and tasteless. I ordered the Tacos and it was too sweet. I don't recommend anyone to order the food, just drink and watch the show.

Was here for a concert and had already had dinner so just did wine and dessert. It was a bit tight with the seating, and if you're there for a concert be prepared to sit with strangers unless you come as a group of four. The wine was good and the pour size was fine. Dessert was very good. Service was so-so. The concert itself was great (Philip Phillips) and I really enjoyed the smaller atmosphere for it.

They put you at four to a tiny table, and two of them are strangers; and there is no room to put your plates of food. The venue was empty so they could have spread us out. It took 60 minutes, at least, to get the cheese/meat board. I have no clue what they will do when the show is sold out. Its a shame, the place is really cool and it could be a great place to see shows but if they dont make some changes I can see it shutting down soon.

We went to have dinner and fell in love with the place’s structure! Unfortunately our speciations were high because of the environment and it didn’t match with the service! The hostess found us a table and had to clean it because there was no waiters to be found! to have someone checking on us, it took even longer! During the whole dinner we had to literally chase the waiter. And to finish the food was absolutely nothing special! Actually, the appetizer and the dessert, were not looking or tasting this good! We were Really disappointed I heard the shows are good though

Food was pathetic! They did a bate and switch on the “free growler” of wine with tickets to the show. It was only free to reserve! They treated us terrible when we were trying to buy a Tshirt from the concert. Basically, kicking us out. I won’t go there again. Food was bad, wine was bad, staff was rude!

Was there for a show downstairs; service was quick and informative of the menu. Seating was alittle cramped (4 seats at our table) no room for food and drinks. Glad the other people never showed up. Got wine and food; took a long time for food; gave discount for the delay. Nice gesture. Wine was pricey! $39.00 for maybe a half bottle. This will keep me from coming back.

Been to the NY location and was impressed for my first visit here because of the fine, personable service provided by Byrd. Ordered the flight to taste variety of their wines and the Byrd surmised that the Syrah wAs missing so i was offered a taste. He was kind. Considerate and professional! You will have a wonderful experience! Very Highly Recommended!

Food horrible for show ticket holders, it is not what you see online, a few appetizers, be prepared for rude wait staff and teeny tiny tables with hard wooden chairs. Eat at home before going to the show.

Ive never felt more uncomfortable. I barely got any help here I did the wine tasting she didn’t explain anything neither did she introduce herself everything felt rushed and I have never went some where and felt more unseen.

We had dinner upstairs and then saw a show in the theater downstairs. Out point of reference is the Manhattan City Winery location on the Hudson River. We enjoyed the Fig and Goat Cheese appetizer. The Short Rib Grilled Cheese was dry and disappointing. The theater is relatively small with “some” space between the tables. The service upstairs and downstairs is attentive.

Excellent Food, Talented Artists, Great Wine, what more could you ask for? I'm tired of people bashing restaurants or venues over fees or their prices. A review should consider everything, not just the cost to you. We had an incredible meal at City Winery twice now. We were there first to see Paul Taylor and Michael Lington, and then we saw Eric Darius. We were not only blown away by the artists and their tremendous talents, but we were also very pleased with the service. The hummus platter was not only awesome and beautiful but also the perfect complement to the elegant yet industrial and warm atmosphere, which was enhanced by the abundance of wood and impressive decor choices. The bathroom was clean and tidy. We enjoyed meeting many women and couples who share our passion for music. I sincerely feel that what we received was a great value, and not a rip-off; just seeing great artists is a gift in itself. They choose to share their talents with us, I'll pay whatever it takes to enjoy a great meal with my husband and then see an incredible show.

First of all, this is my second visit to see a show and you cannot beat the venue for sightlines and acoustics. It's a 4 or 5 star joint. But, and it's a big but. My companion and I both had the classic burger and approx 5 hours after consumption we both had the same feeling of nausea. When I visited the bathroom to wash my hands prior to eating a guy was throwing up in a cubicle. it should have been a warning. In general, the menu is pared down from what the website displays. It was like that on my first visit in April. When you have a captive audience of several hundred, most of whom are eating and drinking, it's a scandal that a venue cannot run a restaurant service properly. DON'T EAT HERE.

Just saw the Luther Relives show and it was excellent! Lead singer was unbelievably good and the back-up singers and all the magicians were top-notch. I will surely see this show again, it's THAT good. Now for the venue: This was my second time there. We knew to eat beforehand because the food is inexplicably substandard. We did order drinks. The servers were good and friendly, despite working in almost impossible conditions --tables that are too tightly packed. And the tables, themselves, are far too small even if you're sitting with friends. Chairs are also diminuative and uncomfortable ( and I'm a petite woman.) Also, unless you're stage-front, your view of the show is constantly blocked by the servers. Events of 2025-2026 will draw huge crowds to Philly. This venue has such potential...I really hope they get it together soon.

My 2 sisters and I had dinner here, Saturday night, 10-30-21 right before the Vivian Green 2nd show performance. It was one of my sisters' 50th birthday. I consulted via email with Event Director, Dawn Budnick (who recommended dinner reservations pre-show + a wine flute at the table since they were not set up to do wine tours yet). I took Dawn's suggestions to heart and sent back a note (under special instructions, when making dinner reservations) asking for the wine flute and indicating it was my sister's birthday. First- I love the checking in process. Having to show you vaccination status before entering the concert area is great. Now- The Food: The server was nice enough, even if a little lost. They were out of several appetizers listed on the menu- chicken wings and duck for 2. We tried the pan pizza- Terrific and the meatballs- Plain/tasted like processed meat and served warm, not hot. We had to change our main dish twice, because again, they were out of certain foods. So, we eventually went with the fried chicken sandwich w/ fries- Awesome! Drinks: There were a couple of changes to our dink order, as well due to lack of availability. My chosen drink was ok, but over-iced, so the sweetness was at the very bottom, instead of throughout my drink, which tasted very watery. No wine flute available. So, only the birthday sister was given a glass of champagne on the house- She liked it. Service: The waiter- Thom? was trying, but what could he do with so many menu option unavailable. Also, he was not aware of this situation beforehand!! He looked so lost, but was giving it his best given the circumstances. Lastly- Viv Performed Her Ass Off!!

Tonight, my husband and I celebrate our 8th anniversary at City Winery. We both had the Branzini and Cabernet Sauvignon. Greg was an excellent server and tended to our every needed. The food was spectacular and both the wine and champagne were the stars that they deserved to be. Thank you to Greg and City Winery for a memorable anniversary dinner. Although pricey, well worth it for the experience. Highly recommend.

Visited the restaurant before a concert recently. Big mistake! Sat down at 7 pm. Waited a while before a server showed up. He took our order and it went downhill from there. The carafe of house wine was expensive, though it tasted cheap. Not like any Oregon Pinot Noir I'm used to. We waited for the food to arrive. And we waited. And waited. Finally we tracked down the absent waiter at 7:30 who assured us that the food was on its way immediately. At 7:45, tasteless white bean hummus and a cheese tray worst looking that those you see at Acme before the Super Bowl came to the table. The bill was dropped off so we could make it to the concert on time. After that, cold mussels and lukewarm duck tacos showed up a little before 8. Comped, but inedible. Despite having the bill early, the waiter didn't come to collect it until 10 minutes into our concert, making us miss the first 2 songs. Every once in a while things go bad. But everything going bad? I have a felling this is not unusual. The table next to us received their entrees after waiting 45 minutes. This place has bad reviews elsewhere. Take our advice and avoid!

This is my second time attending a show at City Winery. First in NY now in Philadelphia. Like the venue style but this is truly the most uncomfortable venue I have ever been too. Tables are too small for four pple and we’ll for two people it’s tight as well. The chairs are hard and uncomfortable!!!! Just ridiculous! They need to reconfigure how to make this better. I love the that you can see the performer(s) at any range but I will no longer attend any more shows. Just wayyyy to small for comfort.

My family reserved a table for 15 to celebrate a retirement. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant and our waitress was awesome. However, the food wasn’t great. Four of the platters were not prepared to perfection. Noodles in two of the seafood dishes, a steak and cheeseburger were overcooked. The waitress was apologetic and corrected the situation. This was appreciated, though we were eating at separate times. Not the best experience. Considering the service was good, I am willing to give City Winery another chance.

I never write bad reviews, but I had to review this spot. I thought since it was called “city winery” the wine would be pretty decent. Undrinkable room temperature Sauvignon Blanc. Cabernet sauv was dry and flavorless. Hummus that was gray not tan with weird crunchy stuff in it. And the ambiance/mood/ menu felt inauthentic and out of touch. We were very disappointed by our experience. Our bartender was friendly and attentive, but we will not return. They need to figure out what they want to be, bc what they are is completely forgettable.

This is a cute intimate concert spot. The setup is a little tight and can be awkward due to not know who will sit at your table but also a great way to meet new people. The venue is definitly worth it

I really wanted to love this place as I’ve been to the NYC location and loved it. The facility is gorgeous and such a great addition to the center city area that’s been in need of some love and updates. The hostess and staff could not have been more friendly but it is obvious they are working out some kinks as they have only been open 3 months. I anticipate in time and when they get some good music acts in that things will pick up. We stopped in for a drink and they were out of 3 of 5 drinks we ordered which seemed strange. Our waitress also didn’t seem well versed in the drink menu. She never heard of the stout my brother attempted to order and didn’t even seem to know that stout was a beer. They were out of the “spout” as she called it but said the Dogfish IPA was very similar. If you know beer, stout and IPA are completely different. She was very friendly so no disrespect but then she told us they were out of the Pinot Noir but the Chardonnay was similar. She did correct herself but if the place is a winery, the staff should have some knowledge to share (in my opinion). The prices were a bit hefty and they did not offer any sort of happy hour which would have been nice but it is center city so I guess to be expected. I really do hope this place picks up because it is lovely inside and nice to see center city cleaning up!

The staff on this particular day seemed to be snappy. I went to attend a Howard Hewett concert and had the opportunity to attend sound check but upon my arrival the staff was everything except polite. The hostess after sound check was downright nasty insisting at first we leave the room to stand on line before actually checking us in.

This is a very attractivve venue with great acoustics, a nice wine selection, good food, and attentive service. We were there for a concert and had a terrific time. Will definitely return.

Went there on a a Thursday nite no concerts. Bartenders basically ignored us. When we finally got their attention drinks were slowing getting to us. Tried the food beer pretzels were not anything close to a pretzel more like small salt less buns. White bean hummus not bad. Fries were cold sent them back took a long time for a fresh order. Great looking place with a lot of potential but boy do they need help in the kitchen.

it was the worst experience I ever had in a restaurant when I walked in you were sitting on top of each other, eating that place is not for big people at all the food was nasty. I had the lamb meatballs. There was a size of a dime when I got the bill from the chicken and the fries $80 I could not believe it. The food was so nasty. I went and got me a duck up the street from the Chinese place. I would never ever go back there Again. I was there for a jazz show. I think we should all run home who is there last night and take a Covid hundred test cause that’s how many people was in there it was horrible. I’ll be shocked if anyone in there is not positive.

$22 fee on box office -purchased tickets with a credit card, none with cash. That's a 20% surcharge to use a credit card which is the same as online purchase at home. WTF???

DON'T EAT HERE. Save yourself soooo much hassle and pick any one of the places to grab food around the venue. I have only ever had worse service once in my life and that was 8 years ago. Our food came - I was disappointed to receive a burnt-black-on-the-bottom flatbread with no sauce. I asked for more sauce and received it 30 minutes later with a film on the top - so it had apparently been sitting in the back for some time. We ordered a side of brussel sprouts with our meal - they also didn't come until 30 minutes after we got the entree. After that we didn't see our waitress again for 40 minutes. You put a little card in a corked wine bottle to signal her, and she never came. I had to go to the bar to get a new carafe of water and ask for the check. The bartender I told about it checked with me 10 minutes later - still no check. A manager checked 10 minutes after that - still no check. Then our waitress finally appeared to drop it on the table without saying a word - no apology for disappearing for an hour, no nothing. In summary, the food was 2 stars, the service was 1 star, and the seating at those tables that are too small made the ambiance 2 stars as well. This place had the potential to be awesome and instead it was a giant waste of money and time.

$221 for absolute garbage! As I told the manager when asked how was everything..."the worst restaurants I've ever been"...Steak frites without any sauce...lol...had too send it back.... overpriced drinkable wine...20 minutes delays between courses...cold coffee cause had too wait for cream..."hey we are a wine it's a low priority" Avoid over priced faux hype xxx. Just serve food you can eat enjoy please!!

Went to see Roomful of Blues with another couple. Love this venue! The acoustics are amazing. We were right up front, so I thought we would get blown out but the sound was perfect. This place is intimate enough that there literally is not a bad seat in the house! The menu is a little more limited than what you see on the web site for the restaurant, but still a nice variety to choose from. The Cheese & Charcuterie Plate, although somewhat pricey at $34, was awesome and enough to keep a table of 4 munching throughout the show with some left over to bring home. I had the Spring Salad with chicken which was plentiful, fresh and delicious. My only complaint was the service. Our waiter, although very friendly, was not very knowledgeable or attentive. To make things worse, the tables, while OK for just sitting and sipping drinks, are way too small for 4 people to eat on and he never cleared any of the many glasses we used. I agree with some of the other reviews that the management might want to re-think the seating arrangements - especially when there are so many empty tables spread all over the room.

I've been there 3 times. Each time, guests are packed in far too tight for comfort. The drinks are just ok. I learned, after the 2nd time, to eat before I go because the food is awful. I'll keep returning for the amazing shows!!!

I bought two tickets to see a performance because it was advertised that Najee would be a guest performer. Well this was a flat out lie. We were not informed that he would not be showing up. When we arrived I asked was he performing and their employee who seated us said “yes Najee is here tonight.” That was a flat out LIE. I would spend my money elsewhere.

Visited her last night saturday night. Came with six of my family members. Started off great my server dava was great. Had ecellent knowledge of the food on the menu. Ordered a pear old fashion. And tap wines. Took forever to be brought to table. I was in eye shot of my server waiting for the bar to make our drinks. She was waiting for at least 10 min. She apoligized for the wait and sent the manager over i belive her name was kristy or katie not quit sure. She was extremly rude tried blamong it on the server saying she was the slowest server on staff. I quickly corrected her and told her it was the bar that was slow. So she compted the first round of drinks. As my server was takeing our order the same manager said to our server try to be faster with there order then you were with there drinks. I found that unperfesinal and degrading to our server. The food took forever comeing to us. Our server then got the other manager a happy friendly guy who discounted our food. I was so glad our server got him and not that ignorant manager. The food needs a great deal of work sesoning is the key. It was bland and tasteless. So one manager very ignorant. One good server and one great manager. Hope this place inproves or we not ever coming back. Please hire managers that treat the guest with repect and there employees with respect. Really felt bad for our server being disrespected by her manager so bad.
Good night out
We went to see Lalah Hathaway. She was okay the guitar player was excellent… the sound system was poor! We ate prior and had drinks and fries … it was a late show! Seating was cramped and the chairs seemed small. I highly recommend going with a voile to avoid sitting across from strangers. Aesthetically beautiful! And clean.
