Absolutely incredible!

By Julia W |

I visited Clementine on Saturday and I cannot wait to go back! From the atmosphere to the food to the wonderful service, I am blown away. To start off with, Patrick sat us very quickly and was so kind. Our server, Gilbert, was so attentive, sweet, and funny. Every single dish we had stood out because of Chef Russ’ ability to take something so simple and fresh and create something so flavorful and unique all at the same time. I highly recommend the hush puppies, the beet salad, artichokes, and the pastas. Then of course, we had to save room for dessert. The chocolate crunch bar was absolutely incredible- I couldn’t get enough!!! The donuts were amazing as well. I thought the coffee ice cream was so clever and also quite delicious!! I will definitely be back and I cannot wait to try new things and see what the Russes have in store for us at Clementine!

One of our most favorite restaurants in san Antonio

By Joyce B. |

This place is amazing. We always choose the " Feed Me" option for dinner where the chef surprises us with basically 6 courses. We do let the server know about allergies or dislikes. Out from the kitchen, the most creative dishes arrive. We always get a dish we probably would never have ordered to discover that we love it. I am not a fan of key Lime Pie AT ALL but this one was to die for. I was hoping I could take a piece home for later but we had the last piece of it that night. Our service is always on point and the wine list is great. This isn't a cheap night out but worth Every. Single. Penny.

Romantic dinner

We went to Clementine for our anniversary dinner and had the chefs tasting menu. It was FANTASTIC. I would come back here 1000 times.

Delicious

By Marco R |

We had an early flight and arrived in San Antonio starving. Clementine was a perfect way to break our fast and welcome us into San Antonio. We did the “feed me” option and it was delicious, fresh, and perfect serving sizes. Definitely recommend.

Farm to Table Fantastic

By Dianne M |

My husband and I had dinner on a recent Friday night. Restaurant is simple yet beautiful- staff is first rate, knowledgeable and friendly. We chose to go with the Feed Me option - letting the chef decide on each course. Oh my goodness- from the slightly sweet, perfectly seasoned hush puppies and the white mushroom salad (my husband is not a fan of mushrooms- but he loved this masterpiece) for a starter right through to the sword fish this meal was perfect! We were so impressed with the flavors and the variety- you will not go away disappointed or hungry.

19th Anniverary Dinner

By trip2where |

We chose to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary at Clementine and had a great experience. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere and was very busy, fortunately we had made reservations. After perusing the menu we decided on the "Feed Me" option and enjoyed a six course meal with each dish chosen by the chef. Each course was delicious with the hushpuppies, white mushroom salad and seared beef tri tip all stand outs in my mind. The service was great too. we had a primary server but courses were delivered by various staff, including the chef. Overall a wonderful experience! Thank you Clementine.

Amazing!

By r0bertcraigc |

Clementine just opened in our small suburban city. They want to be a local place and we are thrilled but I don't think they are going to stay small long! The food is absolutely delicious and the staff is friendly and helpful. On our visit (the first night opened - but you would never have known it) We enjoyed the hush puppies, short rib, flat iron steak, donuts and brulee. Each dish was wonderful. We are anxious to go back and try their "feed me" option. Where you don't make a decision about what to eat - the chef prepares a menu just for you. So fun!

Yet another tenant...but WOW!

By Frisco6 |

Clementine has opened in a nice strip mall location that has seen its share of worthy occupants....predominantly Italian cuisine. Its a smallish place but nicely remodeled to make it look more spacious....if a little more noisy! The place seems overly staffed...serving staff, greeters and open kitchen are crowed with helpful and competent folks bit....ITS THE FOOD!! The appetizers are limited but outstanding whether cold or hot preparations. Entrees were equally good and served with reasonable portions on handsomely decorated plates. With all this staff one hopes that they prosper and remain!!

Betabel salad, branzino, gnocchi, scallops and dessert

They offer options for vegetarians or GF, they are meals made with fresh seasonal products, very delicious drinks, the dish that took the night were the spices and the branzino 😮‍💨

Excellent new restaurant - great for groups

By Cathy H |

Perfect place for a group birthday celebration. Our group of eight friends HIGHLY recommend the “Feed Me” menu option ($48 per person) where Chef offers tastes from the main menu and seasonal specials. YUM! We enjoyed the sparking Malbec, mushrooms, quail, swordfish, brick chicken, pasta, and cardamom doughnuts! Wine list was great and affordable. We loved it SO much, we’ve already made plans to be back every month to try the next FEED ME specials.

Very small--reservations are critical, but well worth the time and effort!

By 1234texas |

Get ready for a great meal with great service at a very reasonable price. This is not the most attractive venue we have ever experienced, but it is far from the worst! The decor is a bit spartan, but still is comfortable & inviting. There is not much room for the entry, and there are a number of small tables for 2, 4 and 6 guests. There is one large common table for 12 people that can be shared with other individuals and groups. There are 3 or 4 stools at the "bar" to total about room for 48 guests. The room is tightly packed, but not so much so that it is uncomfortable. It is critical that you get a reservation for the size of table you need--do not leave that to chance because it will be a good chance that there will be nothing available for your group. There are a few tables on the outside patio (overlooking and hearing Military Drive) available for those without reservations. I would certainly "pass" on that option; however, some people did take them up on it! Our group (6) was here for dinner on Saturday night--first seating. There were no empty tables, and the second seating looked very full! The "standard" menu is presented upon arrival, but we were here for the Chef Tasting--where he provides the entire meal with absolutely NO EXPLANATION OR DESCRIPTION. You are putting your entire meal (as well as the wine pairings if you so choose--and we did) in his capable hands. The meal was excellent, and we were impressed with the quality of the food as well as the attractive presentation. It is served "semi family style." Our server did a great job of explaining and describing each course and wine--AS PRESENTED. It was a great experience, and we loved every course and the pairings--which had some grape varieties we had never experienced. Our server answered all our questions and did a fine job on all counts. Although we took Lyft over and back, there is parking available--it is in an old strip center. The Lyft drivers had some problems finding the restaurant with their map technology, so you may want to give them a "heads up" as to the location at West and SW Military--south east corner. Their map showed it as being in the church parking lot!

Great neighborhood restaurant.

By douglas m |

Food is great and the waiter was even better. The small plates are excellent. Need reservations. I would go back.

Very Good

By barry b |

Neighborhood restaurant with excellent food. The place is on the smaller size with modern "clean" decor. A little on the noisy side, but not overly intrusive to table conversation. The menu is interesting and eclectic. We shared the White Mushroom Salad as an appetizer (called a "Petite" on the menu), followed by a side dish( called a "Sideboard" on the menu) of Chicken Livers on Squash. Both were excellent and portion size was good. As the main course we shared the Gulf Shrimp served in Grits. While good it was not as flavorful as we expected. Wine list is good and reasonably priced. Service was attentive and prompt.

I'm putting Clementine in the permanent rotation!

By Chepe P |

Clementine is located in Castle Hills, a small town(ship) surrounded by San Antonio. The location at the corner of NW Military Hwy and West Ave is fantastic. Easy to get to, ample parking, and visible from the street. I live in the neighborhood so to see a great restaurant open up here is great. So much could be done with this strip b/w West Ave and Loop 410 but that's for a different conversation. We're here to celebrate good eats! I took my two older daughters tonight. It was a Tuesday and only 3 reservation slots were still available...so plan and reserve early. The layout inside is open, with no walls separating parts of the kitchen from the dining area. It's a different setting and one the three of us liked. Wait staff was prompt, informative, courteous, and attentive. Solid. The menu, like at Luke, has a theme (Southern) but is seasonal. We ordered 2 appetizers: Tots (fried cod "balls") and the oysters. My gleeful hum (indicating a great experience) started and never stopped! Delicious. Great flavors, right portions, nice presentation. From the platters menu we then ordered the Crispy skin river trout, Swordfish with brown butter and caper bruerre blanc, and Chicken under brick. We shared each dish. Each was presented well, the right portion size, and absolutely delicious. I would recommend either of these plates. I took over the dessert order. I usually avoid dessert because I don't care for it much but I wanted to go all in this time b/c Elise, one of the owners, is a pastry chef. Hell, why not go BIG! So I ordered the apple pie with vanilla bean ice cream, cardamom donuts with coffee ice cream, and the house made chocolate clementine crunch bar with a clementine sorbet. Oh my lord! Again, all 3 were great. I preferred the apple pie and the donuts, but you can't lose with these options. My daughters and I had a wonderful dining experience. I also greatly enjoyed watching 3 older men sitting at the common table with some strangers, sharing wine, talking and getting to know some strangers. What a pleasant thing to see. The price for each platter was from $20 to $35, if memory serves. So let's say medium to high priced plates. But I will be happy to pay that over and over again b/c it was just that good. And, I'll admit, having Clementine in what is basically my backyard...makes me want to see it succeed...so I'll pay happily. I highly recommend this restaurant. Go with your date, wife, or kids. I'll see you there b/c I will be back often.

Fabulous Food and Service

By bl |

Omg, I read positive reviews on this restaurant and thought I would try it. What a pleasant surprise. My waiter, Braden, the food, the drinks, the ambiance, quaint as it was, made for a perfect dinner. I will certainly go back and mark this as a place to take friends that come to visit from out of town.

Nice but not great

By Joeyavidtraveler |

Loud, small place. and pretty laid back casual crowd. More of a nice neighborhood restaurant than a fine dining experience. Food was good, but not impressive as you would expect from a $300 bill for 2. Probably won’t go back.

An evening to celebrate.

By CEO |

We had a wonderful New Years eve dinner at this restaurant. Staff were warm and pleasant. They had a set menu for this evening. Each course offered a choice of dishes. Everything was simply delicious and artfully presented. Ingredients were fresh and tasty. Portions were generous. Timing between courses was perfect- not rushed or too long of a wait. They have a nice selection of wines at different price points. Service was excellent. Angela was attentive and efficient. She topped off water & wine glasses and cleared dishes as needed. She checked with us throughout the meal on this busy evening. We were glad to have booked this restaurant for NYE dinner.

Anniversary Dinner

By Patriot505 |

We wanted something special for our anniversary so we selected the "Feed Me" option which consists of the chef's selection of six courses, the "best of the best". A pecorino and mushroom salad with pomogranite seeds, crisp oysters, bok choy over squash puree, pasta purses with mascarpone stuffing, a crisp perfectly cooked fish, much more and climaxed with a perfect creme brulee'. All served by excellent, smiling and helpful staff.

Great food and service- but very noisy!

By bilo94 |

Wife and I had an excellent meal at this small local restaurant. Each dish ( 6 of them) were beautifully presented and prepared. As we were on our way to a theater production we did a small carafe of the house red, and that was delicious as well. Service was very attentive and all in all we had a great evening. The only negative comment is that due to its size and decor materials, the noise level is at times, oppressive. I could not hear my wife across the table from me. Not sure what the fix could be but if you are trying to catch up with friends- good luck!! It is difficult.

Not worth it

By asturias2905 |

We decided to go for a nice double date. Completely disappointed. We had the feed me meals. $54 per person. Plus taxes plus tip plus drinks. 6 plates of blah; the only one that all of us enjoyed was the first plate. Steak tartatare. The rest was bad. We ordered a wine; they did not have it. The second bottle was good. We will not come back.

Good potential - hoping this one succeeds!

By nysatx |

This is such a good location, but so many restaurants have failed here. We are hoping that this one sticks. The owners have done a great update of the interior, which is fun and bright, but a bit noisy. The menu is not extensive (and shouldn't be, as the kitchen is quite small) but it is well thought out. The wine list is as well, and we liked that there were choices of small glass/larger glass/carafe/bottle. We enjoyed our well crafted appetizers and entrees, except for an agnolotti dish which did not quite succeed (it was taken off of the bill). Very good service as well. If the quality keeps up, and the menu changes from time to time, they should do well. We hope so!

Delicious. We did the feed

By Mark O |

Delicious. We did the feed me and it was the perfect amount of high quality food. Both our servers were friendly and nice. We came hungry and left a good amount stuffed. A little pricy but it’s worth it for special occasions.

What?!?!? I Can’t Hear You

By Sharon D |

Before I get started on the food, I couldn’t understand how a small restaurant could be sooooo loud. Whether it was the acoustics of the building or something, we were just 2 of us, and could not even hold a conversation without saying “what??” every sentence. That started the evening on a negative note. I was looking forward to the food, and was quite disappointed. The descriptions sounded great, but most dishes we had were quite bland. For the price we paid for 2 people, including a glass of wine each, it wasn’t worth it

Terrible restaurant

By STEVEN D |

We ate there and I ordered the halibut. They were out, so I got swordfish. It was fair. Two of us got a steak. Both steaks were over cooked and tough as shoe leather. We. Complained and were credited for these 2 items. The next morning, 3 out of 4 of us had food poisoning. I SUGGEST. STAY AWAY.!

Nice but nothing exceptional

By Kathy G |

The food was good but nothing special. Ordered the "Feed Me" with seven courses. The tile fish and tomato salad were good, but we weren't wowed by anything. The atmosphere is very noisy. It was difficult to have a normal conversation or hear the wait staff's description of each course. Service needs some work. We had to ask for new plating between courses at least once. Expected a better value and experience given the price point, reviews, and training level of the chef. If you're expecting fine dining, this isn't it.

Beware don’t be robbed!!!

By mytx37 |

Beware it’s Highway robbery. My daughter made reservations for 7 for her birthday, when we got there we’re told for reservations 6 & up it will not be alacart. we’re forced to do the feed me charging us $86/ per person. my other daughter is super picky with food so the celebrant asked if we can do placard for her. anyways they didn’t allow it so we’re forced to do the “Feed me” its a chef choices of 6 courses. For 7 people they only serve 2 portions per course gourmet portions we each have at least a tsp each & that is because my picky daughter is not taking part of the servings. For the price they should at least serve a good for 7 people portions. The food was all mediocre. what they’ve serve us on all 5 courses plus dessert for 6th were all appetizers except for the quail & pork belly in minute portions. So find other places to try on unless you wanted to be robbed. I would give 0 star if I can.

Fabulous

By Mike S |

Some of the best food and service in San Antonio. Small plates to share and each and every one is prepared perfectly. I’ve been there multiple times now and have yet to have any bad plates ( and I’m a picky eater). We usually take our own wines but they have a terrific wine selection as well. Smaller place ... so I suggest a reservation... but they’ve just opened an outdoor seating area that should add to the seating. Highly recommend

Wonderful food, great staff, nice place !

By Chip S |

Our food was spectacular ! We had the special razor clam app and that was incredible . For dinner the Ricotta Cavatelli and the chamomile brined Chicken. I would travel back to Texas for those three dishes ! Outstanding.

Wonderful Anniversary dinner!

By Trey Carr |

Outstanding unique food, lively atmosphere and top notch service. We definitely will come back! The family tasting shared menu allow you to experiment “chefs” choice of 5 different option!

Good choice

By tojo25 |

We were greeted at the door and when we left and throughout the evening the staff could not have been nicer. The food was good, the location convenient, the decor smart and the choices unique. I wish we could have had room for desert as they looked great. I think it would be a good place to come and sit in front of the kitchen to watch them prepare the meals. Or, a good place to come for desert late in the evening. Overall, a good choice for a nice meal.

experincing dinning

By Compass34911 |

From the moment you make the reservation, attention to detail, politeness, to when they welcome you to their dinning room, because is not a restaurant is their dinning room, and they want you to feel at home. Every one introduces themselves and the food oh the food, every dish with a special blessing from the chef, and flavors so complimentary to each morsel, even the chicken liver was outstanding They really "FEED ME" and my senses, Thanks to all the staff

Nice, but not sure it matches the hype

By pyegirl |

We liked this restaurant and the food was good. But honestly, it seemed over rated to me. We did the "Feed Me" menu for two and thought was good, but not totally unbelievably good. There are 7 dishes, 3 of which are desserts and of them I'd say 4 were really fantastic and the other 3 I probably wouldn't have ordered. The service is pleasant, although sometimes a little out of sync. Some times we got our dish served but we had no plates or silverware. Kind of sad to not be able to eat reallly good food when its hot. The restaurant is popular and is very crowded. Its a restaurant in a stripmall so if you get the "patio" you are eating on the parking lot side looking onto a busy 4 lane road.

Best Date Night Restaurant in San Antonio

By 2fromTX |

It’s small, unpretentious, and definitely shows some culinary chops, so you can impress your foodie friends by taking to a place that’s a little off the radar. It’s set in an unassuming strip center in a part of town that gets very quiet after dark, but definitely call ahead for reservations because there’s not many tables and they block out the reservations for 2+ hour so you can have a full dining experience if you want. The most interesting option is the “Feed Me”, a chef’s choice prix fixe that will get you some different choices each and every time you try it. There’s no shame in ordering off the menu, and you’ll have similarly interesting choices. We had the hush puppies as a starter — one order was plenty for two people, the “small” beet salad that was so, so good, with the beets sliced nice and thin and marinating in olive oil, herbs, and nuts. Five stars for that salad. I’ve had several entrees, almost all of them were excellent (one miss in three visits). This dinner we split the sticky toffee pudding, a less gooey version of the traditional dish with a Southern flair and a nice sweet finish for the meal. The service is spot on — the apps came with minutes but nothing is rushed. The service is more or less team oriented, so the whole staff is looking out for you and are friendly, attentive without being intrusive, and never pressured. I really appreciate their unique options on the wine list — it’s not just the same standards that cater to the masses, so adventurous wine drinkers will be pleased. There’s plenty of options at less than $50 a bottle, and half of the wine list is available by a small and large pour glass, carafe or bottle. I’d give this place the “Best Date Night” restaurant in San Antonio award.

Special Place to Eat in San Antonio

By Mike B |

I have been in San Antonio over 20 years and have not heard anyone every talking about this Resturant... My wife and I have been twice already and each time had the Chef's special. The Chef will cook a seven course meal that is beyond amazing. Different foods that explode with flavor, this in my opinion is the best Resturant in San Antonio, second to none.

Great Place!

By soSaRon |

Our second visit confirmed this is a great little restaurant. They offer a "Feed Me" dinner which is a chef's tasting menu for $58. Get it. The friendly staff brings you countless dishes, some of which are quite unusual, but all of which are good. You can watch the chef/owner preparing everything fresh from virtually anywhere in the relatively small venue. From our experience the particular items in this dinner change. Make reservations!

Anniversary Dinner

By KJC1261 |

My husband and I celebrated our 22nd Anniversary at Clementine. We had an amazing dinner! Everyone - especially Patrick (Manager) and Chef John- simply awesome! We appreciated the best wishes for our special day. The food - FANTASTIC!! The wine was SO GOOD! We are already planning our next visit.

Interesting Neighborhood Restaurant

By SpursFan5 |

Small neighborhood place. No table clothes and high ceilings make it a bit too noisy for good conversations when full. We gather that is usually the case. Food is eclectic, but good. Service was average. The owners were present and actively involved both with the visible kitchen and with customers. We'd return again, but likely for a lunch or other less noisy timeframe.

One of the best in San Antonio

By Steve S |

Very welcome addition to the neighborhood. We chose the Feed Me option - $48 per person, chef chooses your courses. Excellent bottle of wine suggested by knowledgeable server - reasonably priced @ $35. Everything well prepared. Beautifully plated. We will be back ... often.

Exceptional seasonal cuisine worth the trip

By SDR |

Wow! Do not let the storefront location or the 20 minute uber ride deter you from venturing outside downtown for amazing seasonal food. A true “mom and pop” restaurant with a soul that serves world-class creative cuisine with amazing complex flavors. Feeling adventurous? Definitely do the “feed me” tasting menu. At $88, it’s a third of what you would pay in Vegas (my hometown) for the equivalent. The wine list is interesting and fairly priced. Run, don’t walk, to this place next time you’re in San Antonio!!

Delightful dinner

By Kai J |

We selected this restaurant to celebrate our 42nd anniversary and are glad we did. The Feed Me option was just the way we like to eat at a restaurant: multiple small dishes to share. Each was very well prepared, plated and presented. The wine list, particularly the curated wines, provided options that were tasty reasonably priced. Our favorite was the mushroom salad! The restaurant is very pretty and spotlessly clean. On a Tuesday evening every table was filled so reservations are recommended. Other reviewers have commented about the noise level. While you can certainly hear other diners enjoying their visit, we had no problem carrying on a conversation. We will go back!

An Eight-Course Adventure

By wukovits |

While searching for “outdoor dining in San Antonio”, I found Clementine and took a look at the menu and reviews. My interest piqued, I made a reservation for four and found ourselves seated on the patio on a beautiful Friday night. The restaurant was filled both inside and out but everyone is nicely distanced. The items on the menu all sounded amazing, but what we wanted to experience is “Feed Me”, where Chef Russ and the team prepare an eight course meal highlighting the flavors of the season. It requires participation from all at the table, but we felt comfortable plunging ahead into the unknown. For our dining adventure, here was the menu: Turnip Salad with Whipped Feta and Mountain Rose Apples Octopus Tartine with Pecorino and Pickled Tomatoes Truffle-Braised Rutabaga with Jamon Shrimp on Squid Ink Pasta with Parmesan and Lemon Braised Sole with Almond and Sumac Butter Lime and White Chocolate Cheesecake Clementine Crunch Bar Whoopi Pie There wasn’t a dish that disappeared within minutes of being served. Of the savory offerings, my favorites included the octopus and sole. Of the sweet, the Clementine Crunch Bar may be my new favorite dessert. I would eat this every day if possible. We brought our own bottles of wine as the restaurant does have a corking fee, but my one regret is that we didn’t pair wines with the meal. The wine list looks promising and for our next visit, we’ll definitely let them select our libations, as they did such a tremendous job on the food. The staff was extremely polite and the service was exceptional. We had a nice visit with the owner and his passion shines through to our dining experience. This is definitely a place where you can enjoy a gourmet meal unlike most others in San Antonio. Make a reservation today and discover the culinary adventure that is Clementine.

Creative food experience

By Robert G |

A lunch with a group of friends turned into one of the most creative meals I have had in the last several years. I started with fried green tomatoes with a sauce using a little bit of caviar which was over the top and had a salad with duck and spinach as my main course. I was expecting a few slices of duck over the wilted spinach but to my surprise a whole duck breast over a mixture of spinich and other ingredients that made this one of the best dishes I have tasted in many years. This is a very special restaurant and I will make this my go to place to eat from now on.

Perfect neighborhood spot

By Andy939064 |

This is a small (for San Antonio), friendly restaurant with excellent, creative food. I’d suggest the Feed Me option where the chef selects the dishes. The entire meal was sublime.

Superb Cuisine from San Antonio's Best

By bernie m |

Wow, what a place. Totally a foodie's paradise. From the best and tastiest appetizers, sides and excellent entrees, Wagyu beef, Swordfish, Tile fish, Mackerel. enjoy the White Mushroom salad, Cavatelli. Then for the finale, the most enjoyable and tasty dessert menu you can imagine, each one a creation. The crunch bar, raspberry tart. The service was outstanding, polite and friendly people.

A bit disappointed

By Joanne |

We eat fairly regularly. Today was disappointing. I admit that I can be difficult as i am a vegetarian who is allergic to mushrooms. The menu at Clementine is usually good for me, and they often make adjustments, but there was very little choice tonight. The beet salad were excellent as usual. The service was good. I learned today that a dish I had eaten before had veal broth (i have always been specific about being veg). The eggplant dish had a hair in it. The tart that I ordered without bacon was subbed with mushrooms ( which i specified i was allergic to). My husband had to eat alone while my meal was fixed, then I ate alone. Not a typical experience. This is my favorite place is SA but today was not good. I will go back but i wish today had been better.

By donnalpaget |

Clementine restaurant in San Antonio was such a great experience. The food, service and atmosphere were terrific! We tried the "Feed Me" menu which was family style 6 or 7 courses. All the courses were creative combinations of flavors and ingredients. There were several courses of vegetables, a pasta course and ended with a yummy protein course of a thick grilled fish filet and a chicken dish with a delicious salad topping and walnut sauce. Each course was more than enough for three of us. One of our group needed gluten-free and for the few items that had gluten, the kitchen accommodated with something else tasty. I said it ended with protein, but really there was a dessert course of a dark chocolate dessert and a crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was good, but we didn't care for the rhubarb topping! It didn't detract, though, from our lovely experience. Our wait service was very attentive and added to our overall experience. None of this was inexpensive, though, we felt that it was worth it! Make a reservation in advance as the restaurant filled up completely. If you're a foodie who enjoys an out-of-the-ordinary meal, Clementine's is an excellent choice. If you are a picky eater or are a meat-and-potatoes kind of eater, choose somewhere different. We loved it and want to come back!

Great neighborhood place

By Alan G |

We recently made our first visit to this fairly new place , which had received very good reviews. Well deserved. The service was excellent and the food outstanding. Side dishes are large enough for two and combine interesting flavors (green beans in a tomato/garlic based sauce) and textures. Entrees are limited but the shrimp and branzini were excellent. The peach crumble dessert was great. It’s a small space and was almost full even early, so noise is a small issue. Reservations are a must. We’ll be back.

Best restaurant around!

By Scott |

Double date night and we were impressed and happy with everything. First, the service was outstanding, which is very hard to find these days. We ordered several apps and entered and ate family style - this is encouraged. All the food is very high quality and perfectly prepared. Full bar, craft beer, great wine list. Make reservations. Not good for large groups. Farm to table ingredients.

Delicious!

By chill1965 |

We have been here for dinner 5 times and love the food. We overheard some people at the table next to us, they were in suits and clearly out for an evening of fine wine and food. They made the comment that if “the lights were dimmed and they had table cloths, this would really be an experience”. I have to agree. We love the food, but feel it would be a nicer experience with little changes to make it more of a dining experience. The lights are too bright. I think no table cloths for lunch is fine, but in the evening when you are trying to relax and have a nice dinner that would be really nice and help with the noise. With all that said, we will keep going because it is really good.

Great new spot!

By Carmen M |

Excellent dinner. Great atmosphere and service. We had several appetizers all of which were wonderful. We ordered the swordfish and trout, plating was beautiful and flavors were delicious. Hot apple pie for dessert.

Fast becoming, one of our favorites!!

By stoli47 |

Love the "neighborhood" atmosphere!! Fresh ingredients!! Eclectic menu!! Something, for everyone!! Great service!!

Worth a trip back to San Antonio just for this!

By PrixFixe |

The food at Clementine was delicious & beautifully presented, a feast for the eyes. The seasonings & different combinations of items in each dish were unexpected & wonderful. My husband & I were visiting old friends in San Antonio who dine here often & love it- their favorite restaurant. We ordered ala carte but our fabulous waiter served us each individually. There were even leftovers for our friends. For the 4 of us we had hushpuppies (sooo good!), mushroom salad (fresh & delicious), 2 cavatelli (wonderful), lamb shank/papardelle (really good! not heavy at all), cabbage w Gorgonzola & grain free granola (❤️), fried artichoke (good), & incredible strawberry shortcake. It paired well with Barolo. The noise is a factor indoors, but there’s a patio where it’s not. We ate indoors at a less than busy hour & it was fine but any louder could have been tough. Highly recommended.

Fabulous

By travelinjep |

We have been here several times and it is reliably great. Innovative and tasty menu. Helpful and expert service. We love to do the 'Feed me' menu that brings you several courses that are chef's choice but we always include the 'hush puppies/corn fritters' equivalent. We've never been disappointed here. Reservations a must.

Casual & Nice

By Nora F |

First time at Clementine. We didn't have reservations because this is San Antonio and I seldom bother to make reservations. It was early dinner time and after a little consternation, the hostess said she could seat us but we would need to be done at 7pm. lol. No problem since it was just 5pm. We selected light appetizers to share with wine. Field greens, cod tots & oysters. All were good - especially succulent oysters with a nice cornmeal coating. The cod tots were a little bland -- probably could have used a bit of spicing up. Atmosphere was casual but nice and the service was excellent. The food reminded me of home (southern) style but a bit "healthier".

Special Resturant in San Antonio... Don't Miss This One!!!

We love this Resturant and think it is one of the best if NOT the best in SA. We always get the Chefs Special... such a treat. The service is great along with the wine selection. If you are looking for. a special place to eat this is it, reservations are a must.

Great New Restaurant in SA

After reading the The excellent review in the SA Express News, I went for lunch last week! What a charming place with locally sourced fresh & delicious food! You must try the hush puppies as an appetizer! I had quail!!& My friend had the grilled cheese. Not a lot of choices but plenty & all sounded outstanding! The owner, John Russo, came by and introduced himself & thanked us for being there-Key Lime pie wasn’t on the menu but it might be the best I’ve ever had with a close 2nd in Miami! I will go back. The dinner menu has more choices & they all look worthy of a try!

Very small and noisy. Food is good but overpriced and a very limited menu. Don’t expect to a leave satisfied with just the main course. You need a couple of side at about $15.00 each to leave feeling just “ kind of satisfied”. Better yet plan on a stop at McDonalds on the way home! Drinks are way over priced. 6oz glass of menu wine is $15.00.

Disappointing Experience

Booked a reservation for 6 for my wife's birthday. Lovely hostess and helpful staff. We did the family style "Feed Me". The selections were disappointing and the portions were inadequate for 6 people. The ultimate insult was one of the selections was Chicken Livers, which taste life baked mud. No one could eat it. The total bill was over $600 - and we all left hungry. I will know better next time.

Modern Southern Cooking at its best

This is the third incarnation of a restaurant at this location. It does a good business, reservations recommended. It has a "public" table, a large table that will seat 14, but every time I've been there, it has been used to seat multiple small groups. The rest of the tables are traditional tables for 2 or 4 and are close together, so don't plan on a private business conversation. If you are going out because you just want to be taken care of, and you tolerate uncertainty, try the "Feed Me" special. The chef selects your meal, course by course, and it was a lot of fun. A number of vegetable dishes that were surprising and good. These came on one plate after another, which my wife and I shared. We enjoyed it, but, come here with good friends. The one missing element, greens. Modern Southern Cooking should include at least one aspect of greens, by they collard, mustard or even chard... Bottom line, we've been there before, and we'll be there again.

Who says you can't go back??

Our third visit now establishes that Clementine is just about our favorite San Antonio restaurant...the location is not the most convenient for downtown activities or it would be No.1 for sure. Any of the appetizers are to brag about...especially the beet salad, marinated mushrooms. The cavatelli pasta is a small portion but so rich it makes sense. Fish entrees were perfectly cooked. As usual the house made donuts were exceptional with pink peppercorn flavoring.

TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT

We made a reservation by phone, confirmed with an email by the restaurant on the main dining area, when we arrived they tried to persuade us to sit on an improvised "TERRACE" as they had no table inside. Restaurant had more than 50 % of tables empty. The man in charge, an older man in jacket, did not even have the courage to speak to us and explain they screwed up with reservations, just went hiding and asked junior staff to give excuses. Behavior not to the standards of a restaurant that charges an average per head of 100.00. Fortunately there are other alternatives with better attitude.

Must Dine Neighborhood Restaurant

Exceptionally thoughtful service. The food is so simple and yet so flavorful. Treat yourself to the Feed Me tasting menu--I am lactose intolerant and they fully accommodated my needs, even with a tasting menu. The mahi mahi was perfection. The mushroom salad and the doughnuts were also a favorite. Food was so good we bought a round of beers for the kitchen. And the design of the restaurant is well-conceived--it's beautiful. Perfect place for a special occasion or just a really good, comforting meal. Congrats Chefs Russ on a great neighborhood restaurant.
