This place was highly recommended by one of the staffers at Myopic Books, and her recommendation was spot-on. Club Lucky was a great place for our family to have lunch, with excellent service and amazing food. We started with a basket of fresh bread and a wonderful olive oil dipping sauce, Our entrees were even better: a meatball sub for my wife, tortellini in pesto/marinara for my teen daughter, and my mozzarella-tomato-basil sandwich. Everything was delicious and among the best Italian food we’ve had in recent memory. Definitely worth the block walk off of the main drag in Wicker Park to seek this excellent restaurant out!

I have been coming to this gem of a restaurant for well over two decades. It is the same now as it was in the way way back.......FANTASTIC. Start with the Club Lucky Salad. Then get either the Ribs or the Penne Arabiatta...... or get both!! Service is top notch. Usually quite busy on the weekends so plan ahead and see if you can get a reservation. I love the decor of the place and the jazzy music that is on.... Very much a 50s vibe.

Having Ben trying to get to Club Lucky for months, finally made it. It was excellent and will return soon. Services was excellent and very informative about items on menu. Menu is varied, with a lot of great choices.

We are here for dinner and got the lasagna and pasta primavera. The lasagna was a must, tasted just like you were at home. The primavera was ok to be honest but the lasagna was so good you could just tell their best dishes would be good every time. The bread was fresh and the ginger carrot cake was exactly what I needed even though I don’t love carrot cake. Definitely check it out.

Great old school Italian.... They make the best fresh bread on the premises. There portions are smaller than I remember from going there years ago but the food is still good.... A little on the pricy side but it's Bucktown!

We were very disappointed by the food. The grilled calamari while very tender, did not taste fresh. The melrose pepper salad was bland. The pasta dish we ordered was just so-so. And it's not like the atmosphere made up for it. It was incredibly loud. We couldn't hear each other to have a decent conversation. The paper place mats and Formica tables certainly don't help the atmosphere. For what you got, and the atmosphere, it was way overpriced. It was packed, but I have no idea why.

We were lucky enough to sit outside. Patio is very nice. Service was very good. Food was great. Eight Finger cavatelli was a good choice. Veal marsala was very tasty, good sauce, veal could have been a little more tender. Portions are decent. Have a drink at the bar first-we loved the retro feeling - great choices of liquor also. Try some homemade Limoncello-YUM!

We went here for New Years and it was great! Totally encourage tourists to leave the touristy areas and head out to Bucktown for an authentic Chicago experience. The service, the food, and the atmosphere are awesome!

Good food...nice waitress...but terrible host and support staff (bus boys, etc.)....made reservation but denied open booth when arrived. Very tight seating. Once servers decided we were "done" with dinner, we were harassed to leave. Of course plates cleared but also placemats ..all glasses .. .even water..when they came three times to interrupt conversation by "wiping" the table where no spills were...host even came and grabbed a glass...we KNEW it was time to leave ...we had 6 cocktails, 2 salads and appetizers...and 4 entrees...not an inexpensive meal...but clearly not enough to rent the table for more than 2 hours.. Rude. Booth reservation policy not posted on website also an issue.

Food was delicious and the service was fast. Great atmosphere (ate in the lounge because the dining room was full). Has a fun speakeasy history and a lemon drop martini that will knock your socks off.

This place has been consistently special since our 1st visit in 1995. We had fantastic service and outstanding meals for a family dinner. Fantastic veal and chicken dishes, and Club Lucky has not lost its touch on fabulous martinis. My wife and I dined here often when we lived in Bucktown. Tonight we brought our kids for their first visit, and they raves about their meals.

The food was a major disappointment: over priced and over salted. The house red wine merited less than half the $12 per glass. The astonishing thing was the place was packed, so maybe we were just unlucky. Service was good and the staff friendly. That mitigated what would otherwise have been a dreadful experience.

We found Club Lucky through the prohibition tour, great cocktails & an interesting barman, very informative. We went back 2 nights later for more cocktails & great authentic Italian food. It took us a 15/20 minute Uber ride but well worth it. Would definitely recommend

This is an energizing spot for families and groups of friends who want some dependable Italian food and the comfort of people in the long cold winter. Lots of people know this, and so you may have to wait for a table. If you fail to make a reservation, not to worry. We have done so many times without boredom, since the bar area has good drinks and screens carrying the sports competitions of the moment. As for the food, the appetizers aside from the calamari are so-so, but the main dishes can be outstanding. Good hot pasta in abundance with plentiful grated parmesano-reggiano alongside. My favorites include the fettucini de campo (chicken, asparagus, roasted tomato) and the penne arrabiata with broccoli (why is broccoli is so great in Italian food?). In all, I always feel that I'm celebrating something when I'm there because it seems festive and happy. What's not to like?

We recently ate here for dinner with friends and we won't be back. First, the service was horrible. We sat for a very long time before our drink orders were taken, then waited even longer for the drinks to arrive. We never got refills on anything. Dirty dishes stayed on our table for long periods of time. The entrees took the longest to come out. Our appetizer came with the salads instead of as a first course. The stuffed artichoke was bland. The meatball salad was delicious. The chicken vesuvio was tasteless and dry. It lacked the usual juice and had only a few potato wedges. Dessert was very disappointing, except for the Tollhouse Cookie. The carrot cake was dry, as was the buttermilk chocolate cake. The restaurant wasn't crowded and I can see why.

Wonderful "Bucktown" neighborhood dining experience that has a great old style, Italian atmosphere. Great food, fantastic Martini's, The Club Lucky Salad is amazing and everything I order always is delicious! Enjoy.

Very average Italian food..

We had reservations on a Tuesday night. It was busy, but not too busy. We would have liked to eat outside, but it had just finished raining so it was wet. Our food and service was very good. A party near us was celebrating birthdays. Cozy atmosphere with very good Italian food. I recommend a visit for those special occasions.

everyone loves this place, but having been there i have no idea why...

Dont get me wrong! Food was delicious, it is an amassing kitchen! The thing is that the waitress that took our table, first, she complains about my accent! She trued not tu understand me wile I was asking for a delirium tremens beer, but with that service, really won’t be getting back! Servers were taking plates very quickly, and not asking if they could! And after dinner, the waitress again just went to the table and left the check at the table rushing us out the restaurant! Seriously, this is no way to treat the people that is using your service and restaurant, and believe me is not a cheap restaurant, for having that typo of service! Thank you and hope you get a better treatment than y had!

We went here when on a tour of bar/restaurants still in business since Prohibition times. The tour pointed out all the pass-throughs and back doors used by bootleggers and mobsters of the time. We were only there for drinks and a few appetizers. I'd recommend the fried fresh mozz over and over. It was NOT fried mozz sticks. Creamy, perfectly made mozzarella cheese, breaded and fried. Outstanding. Drink menu was different. Busy, busy place on a Sunday night but wait staff fantastic. Want to go back for more.

Outstanding patio, service and of course food! OK, so my dad and I went here because of a prior suggestive rating that I noticed on TA! I have to say that I am very glad that we came. The service was awesome, the grilled calamari was outstanding and the walleye special was one on the best I've ever had. To top it off the patio seating was perfect for the two of us to reflect and enjoy the summer evening! I highly recommend you frequent Club Lucky as I will definitely be back!

This fun throwback to earlier times provides an ambiance deserving of the old fashioned but well-prepared food. There is something for everyone on the large menu and service is friendly and attentive. Great bar before, or after!

Traditional Italian, and great food, everything we had was fantastic. Was there for a wedding and they served family style. Well the food was like it came from an Italian Grandma's kitchen and Grandma is a great cook! Everything was spectacula. The ambiance is wonderful too. Old school, comfortable and the service could not have been better or friendlier! Like being at your neighborhood local or home. I will be going back soon. And they make and pour a proper cocktail. Fantastic!

Club Lucky is a great choice in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood as attested to by the overwhelming repeat business by the local residents in the Bucktown-Wicker Park area. As a matter of fact, this is one place where you should consider a reservation if you really have your heart set on dinner here. Also, if you're driving in from outside the area, I would highly recommend taking advantage of the $8 valet parking service as the local residents have a monopoly on parking on the neighborhood streets. You can also reach Club Lucky from downtown by taking the Blue Line elevated train and getting off at the Damen Ave. stop. Then walk 1 block north on Damen Ave. to Wabansia; turn east on Wabansia and walk 6 short blocks to Club Lucky at the corner of Wabansia and North Honore (it's about a 10 minute walk altogether). With regard to the food, I had tilapia over a bed of spinach on my last visit and it was terrific - as good as any fish I've ever had. My daughter had veal meatballs and I would highly recommend them as well. A couple of caviats. The lighting was so dim that we couldn't read the menus (somebody needs to pay the light bill) and the place was very noisy (difficult to carry on a conversation). Also, the desert menu offers gelato, so I ordered the strawberry gelato and when it came it turned out to be just very good strawberry ice cream - it was definitely not true gelato. Even so, I rate Club Lucky was of the best dining experiences Chicago has to offer. Buon Apetito!

This review is LONG overdue!!! I have been going to Club Lucky for the past 8 years. My husBAND took me here on our first date. He also took every single girl he took on a date here...I did think it odd that every server knew him like he worked there on that first night, but whatevs. The reason I have never written a review for Club Lucky is because until very recently I have been very bummed out by our experiences. When I and my husBAND started going to Club Lucky together regularly (he has been going separately since the 90's) we knew all of the managers, servers, and bartenders. We LOVED going and usually ended our evenings there...we are talking like 3-4 times a week. Then, a few years ago, there were many changes in staff/managers/bartenders. It just wasn't the same. The new servers/bartenders/managers were all very nice, but they were just lacking that certain something. We stopped going almost altogether...venturing in only once a year usually during Christmas (the Christmas decorations are so pretty). Two years ago, we decided we weren't going to stand for it anymore. This was our special place and we were going to force ourselves to fall in love with Club Lucky again. We decided to take our wedding pictures here so that we would have a forever bond with the place and we started forcing ourselves to come in at least once a month. About a year ago we felt the change. Our experiences were getting better and we noticed many of the same servers/bartenders on each visit...always a good thing. Then, several months ago, it happened. We ventured in one evening for dinner at the bar (we always eat at the bar!!!) and we met 2 amazingly friendly bartenders..Laura and Scotty. They are friendly, make great drinks, and actually seem to like their jobs!!! While Laura is awesome, I have to say that Scotty is our favorite. He is quite entertaining in his own special way!!! Now for the food. The food is consistently good. We have tried just about everything on the menu. I will say, however, that I am never overly impressed with food off of the menu. We typically order something from the specials menu and are always very satisfied!!! So, if you are venturing in for the first time...highly suggest ordering only from the specials menu. Oh...and OMG...the bread!!! I dream of this bread!!! Sometimes we go in just to have the bread and drinks!!! So, I am now comfortable writing my review for Club Lucky. It would have broken my heart to give them any less than 5 stars. Highly suggest Club Lucky to anyone of any age, but especially suggest it to my fellow Bucktown peeps!!! You can make it a special night and dress up all fancy or you can stroll in in your flip flops and tank tops!!!

I went there on Halloween night. The pasta was very good. The antipasto of meat and cheese was more vegetable, less meat and cheese. It was still good but not what I expected. The service and main course more than made up for that slight disappointment . A mushroom and cream pasta was well balanced and the cannoli and coffee ended the evening on a bright note.

Great meal and wonderful service from Eric and others. Not very crowded. Parking could be a problem in the evening. We shall return

Not sure why this place gets the great raves. In a town that has a lot of great restaurants this warrants a good at best. Hyped drinks no better than a million places elsewhere. Food is typical Italian fare with average quality. Atmosphere is more unique but the restaurant can be noisy. Chicken Vesuvio was passable but not great (like Italian Village). Fish salad was excellent. For 2 drinks, fish salad, chicken vesuvio and veal marsala, the bill was around 100 bucks with tip and tax. Ok, but not worth it for what was an average meal.

The iron corner pole, the glass blocks around the windows, the linoleum floors all described a neighborhood corner bar, (once) ubiquitous in ethnic neighborhoods. I was in the area in the 80's-- still a little dicey and edgey area. It's now a showcase for Architectural Digest homes, with good and bad consequences. We were there to celebrate a colleague's birthday, so it was a set menu. A parade of Italian traditional dishes were brought by a very attentive and efficient young server: fried squid--very good--insalata caprese--wonderfully fresh mozzarella, zitti in a marinara, a rich lasagna and the very American chicken Vesuvio. I missed the desserts, which did look like a perfect excuse to break a diet. I was a wonderful celebration for our friend and a lovely evening. I am asked below about "value, " which, of course, I cannot access.

This is a fun place! Italian food. Great for dates.

Service was awesome Kathryn was great. Good salad, so so Lamb chops no flavor. Calamari was half done and half over cooked. Starter for Clams were awesome, eggplant was great and also chick Parma great.

I've been going to Club Lucky for many years and the place is still one of my favorites in Chicago. Not only do they have superior service but the food is outstanding. The manager Thomas upon our last visit was extremely helpful in accommodating our large party though we had no reservations. We selected many dishes and everything exceeded expectations. Some of the seemingly simple dishes were surprisingly delicious such as, the Club Lucky Salad and pasta squares. Our visiting guests were blown away by the food and hospitality at Club Lucky. Don't leave without trying the profiteroles and tiramisu!

It was located in a neighborhood, Houses all around. All the waiters were Italian men. The food runners and bus people were men just like in Italy. It was a pricey but very authentic. Would go again!

Great supper club with a cool retro vibe. Start with a cocktail at the bar first- they shake an awesome martini. We ordered a few dishes to taste and everything was great. We had a lot of left overs but that was ok because it all tasted better the next night if that could be possible. We have been here many times since and it really is our favorite Italian in the City. Love when the weather gets nice and we enjoy the charming patio dining. All the staff is friendly. It's understandable why they have been around for so long.

Visited as part of the prohibition tour, I had the lemon bomb which was incredible! Highly recommend this amazing place.

good old school italian. High quality food...great lasagna and eggplant parm...this is what italian food should be. i would be here all the time if i lived in chicago.....just great place

This is a hidden gem with great food. Try to eat outside .Outstandind food. The salad is great and the food is great. Neigborhood food. Must eat outside. The inside is a bar.

We were here by suggestion, but the homemade pastas made it all worthwhile. Good cocktails and good salad. The house dressing is so good that we bought a bottle to take home. Our dinner choices included fusiili Bolognese, veal marsala and traditional homemade pasta squares with meatballs. All were wonderful. Leave room for the homemade tiramisu.

While still a neighborhood place in a hip and affluent neighborhood, Club Lucky is showing its age - the fried food is getting oilier, the quality is dipping down, and non regulars are treated with officiousness. Case in point - the vegetarian antipasto has barely any quality veggies in it and is dominated by pickled hot peppers tossed about. What happened to artichoke hearts, a healthy amount of pimento and artichokes. Where are the veggies, man? And going counter trend, many of their dishes are bedded on lots of pasta. Filling yes ... but.

First. order roasted garlic. Spread on the French bread they give u. TO DIE FOR. We had Cesear salad which was very good. We had veal and chicken parm, lasagna, and 3 different pasta dishes. All got a awesome response. The deserts, cannoli and Chocolate Cake were very good. Wine list was ok. Had some ok wines by glass. The one pain about this place is the street parking. Hard to find spot. Valet is 11 bucks. Not cheap. Neighborhood feel is cool. Johnny cash and Elvis on jukebox. Also cool. I will be back

I love this place, every year a group of our close friends hold our annual Holiday Club Lucky dinner and gorge ourselves on their yummy bread, appetizers, and delicious italian food. You cannot go wrong with any of the food here, it is all great. The service is always spot on and the drinks are great too. One of my favorite places to frequent when I am visiting my hometown of Chicago, a must!

This was a former family favorite . Since our last visit, more than 5 years ago we found our experience wanting. Cocktails are still decent but all of the food offerings our party of 6 ordered including appetizers and entrees were such that everyone said the meal was terrible and they would never dine there again. Service from Ramon A , was very professional. The physical premises have always been somewhat run down charming and the large restaurant was packed and noisy.

Visited Club Lucky as part of a Chicago History tour on Prohibition. There is some excellent history associated with Club Lucky. In addition to the tour, we ordered the Tomato Basil Bruschetta and Peach Sangria. Both were excellent. . . . the Sangria a surprise and a highlight of this stop. I strongly recommend.

I used to live around the corner from this place, definitely a local favorite. I have been here multiple times and have never had something off the menu that did not deliver. Top picks: ribs, Nana's meatballs, calabrese calamari, and the martinis. The ambiance and staff are also extremely nice. We had our going away dinner here with a dozen of our friends when we moved from Chicago. Our waiter found out we were moving and the house picked up the entire bill. I will be a customer for life.

This is one of our favorite neighborhood spots. Consistetnly good italian food, good wine, and very friendly staff. Open late, so its a nice spot to grab dessert or a drink.

I did not expect to find such a fun and delicious place as this tucked into a residential neighborhood! Spending some time up by Damen on the Blue line, my son found this place with friends. What a fun place! It harks back to a jazz age supper club with modern appointments. Great wine list and so many choices on the dinner menu. Friendly and prompt service. Prices were less than expected in this pricey area and the plates were generous and tasty! We will definitely return - next time with the whole family!!

We visited as part of a tour and I doubt many tourists would find this place or even here about it without one. A lovely bar (complete with bullet hole) serving quality cocktails leads you to a beautiful looking restaurant with colours from days gone by. Didn't try the food but there was a lovely atmosphere and a must for a visitor to check out.

We had a group of 20 people last night 5/21/16 and every single person loved their meal! That's not easy in any restaurant! The lamb chose were to die for!

A great local Italian restaurant, with a good bar, terrific service, a good room, all that and good vibes too. I truly enjoyed my meal, my wine and the dessert but everybody’s meals look yummy.

We were there for an "After Rehearsal Dinner" in the private section. It was very comfortable for a party of 24. The calamari was the BEST I've ever had. Honestly, Everything was exceptional. Fun atmosphere as well. You can't go wrong with this place.

This was a business event. The dinner was in family style and share food. The place was so loud that I could not socialize with the lady sitting in front of me. The fried calamari was delicious. The rest of the food, salad and pasta were so-so. Carrot cake was savory, but too much sugar and cream cheese frosting for my taste.

What a great neighborhood vibe, sit at the bar and watch the bartenders work there magic. Extensive Italian menu with fabulous food. I enjoyed the escarole with sausage and beans which was enough to share. 5 star food with 2 star prices. Not to be missed.

It is a great find if you are looking something special, yet simple. The food is very good, and there is usually not a wait. I will go back for sure. There are restaurants where the food is better, but not many. The portions are large too.

My wife and I finally had dinner here. Been here twice but while on the prohibition tour, so it was for drinks only. Corner place right smack dab in the bucktown neighborhood. Wife had the eggplant parmesan and the the filet pizzaiola was screaming my name. Wife's dish was layered with fresh eggplant. My 2 medallions were cooked perfect along with the fresh spaghetti pasta on the side, drizzled with olive oil and roasted garlic. If you want out of the bustle of the city, come to this place. It won't disappoint!

I had the chicken Alfredo and it was the best I've ever had. Will definitely go back another day to try a variety of things.

Found this on a recent trip to Chicago. Walked from our B&B in Wicker Park. Very good food. Fun bar playing 70's tunes. Had the vibe of a neighborhood hangout. Everybody seemed to know everybody. Good size portions. Wait staff eager to tell you about the menu and their suggestions were spot-on. I'd go again just because it was fun, not to say the food isn't a good reason to return, too!

Food is good solid italian american. Big portions. Lots of calories. No diet options here. I had calamari (big and tender) chicken vesuvio (bony, not much meat). Superior bread. Decent wine. Dark dining room. Very difficult if you are over 50 and wearing glasses. Unpleasant reading a menu with a flashlight. Only that would prevent me from returning.

I consider Club Lucky a must visit whenever I am near the Wicker Park area of Chicago. It has been around for years and I love eating in the bar area where music is always the rat pack era. The grilled squid appetizer is the best I've ever had and their warm Italian bread is a meal in itself. They have delicious soups like pasta fagioli and most everything on the menu is a good choice. They make a very good Martini and I like mine with blue cheese stuffed olives. Try the basic pasta dishes and you will not be disappointed. The menu is a bit pricey but certainly worth it.

Went here when daughter was young often. Got our old seat on back booth near window. Remember the cold snowy days feeling warm and cozy there. This time was a semi-business meeting and was enjoyable. Martinis are great here. My salmon vesuvio was not memorable and that is why the 3. But I got what I had expected and loved the atmosphere and remembrances. Will always return from time to time. Go for the martinis, atmosphere, and retro ambiance. Good place for parents with kids I think. Also the bar and booth area is a nice option.

Located in one of Chicago's residential neighborhoods, Club Lucky offers a variety of tasty Italian options (chicken parmigiana is a favorite there)! Get set for a large portion for each course of the meal. Lots of seating, though reservation is recommended. Fun bar area too.

You gotta like Italian food to eat at Club Lucky. They have a very large selection to choose from. My son took me there for Mother's Day. It was crowded but the service was fast and very friendly. Ladies received a carnation. I've had their ravioli and chicken Parmesan. Love their cannolis!

Had an informal business dinner of late, but this Bucktown gem has NEVER failed to deliver a great meal and a great time. Love slipping back in time to a 1940s - 1950s Supper Club environment. Club Lucky **works** because of a commitment to quality - the manager and owner are HANDS ON, working the place every time I go there. This dinner was no exception...I had folks in from out of town, and an the manager and owner went out of there way to make sure the dinner was a success. Club Luck has become my favorite, go-to Italian place in Chicago.

Very good authentic Italian food. I had spaghetti marinara and give it a 9.3/10, my friend had the linguini and clams and gave it a 9/10, we had the mozarella marinara which is an 8/10, and we split the club lucky salad which had great dressing. The only complaint, was the noise level. It was so loud that my friends and I couldn't have a conversation and the server had a hard time hearing us and vice versa. I won't let that deter me though and will definitely go back on another visit to Chicago

Pretty basic red sauce type pasta place, but it was good and the server was friendly.

We always visit this restaurant when we're in the Chicago area. We love, love, love the bar and the cocktail menu is incredible! A throwback vibe that serves famous "killer martinis". The food is consistently excellent as is the service. We usually order traditional Italian dishes, but this time my husband ordered a salmon dish (special that evening) and it was excellent. This isn't a fancy place. It's salt of the earth with unbelievable cocktails, excellent food and the sounds of Sinatra in the background. The best! Salud!

The cocktails were great. Something for everyone and some creative options. The food was just ok overall. The atmosphere was really old but classic to the prohibition era.

Enter Club Lucky through the bar door. Squeeze past the patrons and you're ushered into the dimly lit dining area. This is a great place to bring a date on a weekend night or a late-night weekday. They have excellent food, good service, and a club-like atmosphere.

The fresh calamari is the best, the pastas, the wine, everything was the best quality. Great service, friendly people.

Just a great place! Don't pass this place up. Can't wait to go back.

Nestled inside the cozy Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago, Club Lucky has been a hidden gem for locals for years. My finance and I had our first date at Club Lucky - and Lucky it was! Six years later, Club Lucky is our favorite spot in Chicago. We return every year for our anniversary - an annual tradition we will continue for as long as Club Lucky is standing. Their staff is incredible - professional, knowledgeable and friendly! The food is fresh; the pasta is always aldente; sauces are perfectly complimentary to the dishes. The ambiance is great - very old-school, Rat Pack-esque! Coming from a Sicilian family with restaurants in Sicily, NYC and Detroit, I feel right at home at Club Lucky!

It takes a lot for me to almost write a perfect review, which this will be almost close to it. There was supposed to be 5, but ended up to be 4 which caused us to be late. I called and host said we would have to be out in an hour. Really? Then we were reminded of that when we were seated once again. As I'm sure thus host/manager is great at managing the floor, his deliverance needs some work. Kindness goes along way. One my friends wanted to leave and I said no,lets just stay...it is great here. And it was. I dine out quite a bit since my job, well its a must. My server, very gracious young lady, she was perfect. Our table was the booth closest to the street and where they made the desserts and salads. Bus boy was a doll as he took a few pictures of us. Food was the best ever. I mean every dish was perfection and hot. We didn't have to leave in an hour as it was stated several times. I knew we wouldn't as it wasn't New Years eve or Valentine's Day or Mother's Day. I kind of know how it works as something always can be moved around and we appreciate. My 4 girlfriends and I had one of the best nights as it was simply amazing. Christmas decor is beautiful. Club Lucky s a must at Christmas time and any time. Thanks Higs for keeping consistent all these years!!!

This place was fine. A bit pricey and not quite as full of ambience as I’d hoped based on some of what was written online. The stuffed artichoke was sub-par- they should pull in from the menu. The homemade pasta was authentic and paired really nicely with the meatballs. Bread was good. My boys ordered soft drinks- not sure if they charge for refills, but refills were never even offered. This isn’t a must-go recommendation for me.

We had dinner at Club Lucky on a Saturday night. We made early reservations and we are glad we did. It was already very busy by 5:30PM. The theme is very retro and charming. They had a great wine list as well as cocktails. Their bread was crusty but soft on the inside and served with oil for dipping and butter. The server gave some great suggestions on appetizers and entrees. We decided on a meat and cheese plate and the Calabrese calamari and they were both large portions and excellent. The chef was very accommodating to a dairy allergy and made my sister-in-law the Veal Marsala without dairy. The service was great and friendly. We really enjoyed the food as well as the atmosphere we can't wait to come back.

We learned about this place after stopping there on the Prohibition Tour (also great, by the way!). While enjoying our drinks and the tour, I was intrigued by the wonderful aroma wafting through the bar and the delicious looking plates of bread being delivered to lucky diners. I immediately told my boyfriend, we're coming back here to eat before the trip is over! He agreed and they did not disappoint! We had 8 pm reservations, but they were able to seat us early at a patio table where we could check out the neighborhood. The table had a candle which created a wonderful romantic atmosphere. My boyfriend had the special, Bucatini Campitano which he loved. I had the Filet Pizziola. It was, without a doubt, the best steak I have ever eaten. And I am an Italian from Omaha, where we pride ourselves on good steak so that's really saying something. The service was excellent and very attentive. I would definitely reccommend this place highly, and it is now on our "must visit" list anytime we return to Chicago!

Wanted local Italian food on my last visit to Chicago. This Wicker Park choice is a step back in time for decor but delicious fresh food. We shared five dishes, and our server was very accommodating. Delicious fresh warm bread and she keep it coming. Thank you for the great food. I was surprised by the number of young families and crying babies. We got there early on a Friday night before the loud crowd.

As we began celebrating my father in laws 90th birthday we began our celebration at Club Lucky. No visit from would be complete without visiting this fine restaurant!

We live in the Hood and have been coming here for more than 15 years and this place has officially gone to the dogs. The service was terrible the waiter forgot us, he got our order wrong and then we asked them to correct it them took 25 minutes to forget to bring it back. We were very sad with how they treated us we liked coming here,it was fun but we will find a better place for the money.

I had not been here in at least 7-8 years, always like the place, so met some friends at 7pm for dinner there, it was mostly families with small children, even kids in the bar. So, go after 8pm I guess. The I open the menu, and the entrees are all $18??? Umm, this place is the price of Hugos and Tavern on Rush now? Give me a break, but the value left the room, this is now fine dining according to menu. I guess the amount of ranger rover folks living in the now gentrified area are easy suckers. Yes the food is very good, but $18 for an entree at Club Lucky? Everyone enjoyed their meals, no complaints there, but had I known this was the price level, I would of picked a dozen other places to blow cash on Pasta dishes... Service was very good too...just dont trip over the kids running about.

We ate here on a Sunday evening. Had 5:30 reservations. I recommend calling to reserve. By the time our food arrived, the place was packed. I had eggplant parmigiana, club lucky salad, homemade bread. Others had meat lasagna, meatballs with pasta squares. We shared tiramisu for dessert. All made in-house. All delicious! I also had a glass of Merlot. We will definitely return and recommend to friends.

Walked to ClubLucky from my son's apartment and had a great dinner Mother's Day weekend. Very quaint and retro feel. Service was just as good as our meal. Ordered chicken parmesan and it came with 4 chicken breasts! Took half of it home for dinner the next day. Portions were more than expected. Will definitely go back.

Was there on a wednesday and it was beyond packed. i felt like i was on an airplane. it took forerver to get drinks and even throughout the meal it was hard to get refills. the bruschetta and calimari was outstanding. the chicken piccata was ok. Seasonal meat and cheese board was very good. i like that they serve bread with olive oil and parm for dipping, but was disappointed in the amount of oil available for a party the size of ours.

Great Italian restaurant within the neighborhood. Food is fantastic and the service is too. Daily specials. Excellent calamari. Great bar and wine list also.

We went there as part of Prohibition Tour. This place is a class act. Took our large group in with ease. Got to us all for drink orders right away. Our beautiful server was polite and brought drinks quickly. Best cocktails we’ve had! The vibe of this place is so unique and cool. We didn’t eat but everything I saw looked and smelled delicious!

We had an all-day meeting with 14 people and it was a great, and affordable, alternative to the downtown hotels. Matt took great care of us and lunch was delicious (get the meatball salad). There's a flat screen tv to use and plenty of free street parking (just watch the signs for street cleaning days).

If you're hanging out in Bucktown, take a really short detour east of Damen and check this place out. Menu is almost paralyzing if you are hungry--pretty much everything can be made any way you like. If you grew up eating stuffed artichokes, get it here...100% delicious. And the cocktail list is surprisingly unique/good, so grab one before you open the montepulciano.

This place has the best drink menu I have seen so far. I got The Bogart, it is amazing. A lot of throwback old fashioned drinks and they are sooo good. Very nice atmosphere, I was on a tour and I have to say for the amount of people we had the servers and bartenders were amazing at getting us settled quickly.

Midweek lunch when place was empty, but service very slow. Food is very good and priced fairly. I would dread Club Lucky when it's busy, but I'd try again midweek.

We went for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was packed. It was a bit confusing upon entry as the host is at the far side of the bar, but once we found him, we were shown straight to our reserved table. The noise level is pretty high, but the service and food make up for it. The menu has plenty to offer and I wish I had been hungrier so that I could have ordered appetizer and dessert. Our server was friendly and our water glasses always full. If you're looking for esoteric additives, fancy foams, and food snobbery, you won't find it here. But, if you want basic Italian, the kind where simple ingredients shine through, this is the place. We saw many tables with families or with groups of younger couples, but, even at our retirement age, we didn't feel out of place.

We go downtown once a year with the kids to have dinner at club Luckys and are always amazed at how good the food is and how cool the atmosphere is like a throwback to the 50s

We live in Chicago and have been going here for years. It offers Italian food that straddles the border between home-cooked and gourmet, and a lively, supper-clubby atmosphere. The martinis are excellent, as is the antipasto plate, Melrose salad and chicken vesuvio (a Chicago dish). The location is not too far from downtown, but far enough to keep most tourists away.

yeah dive bar

My wife had been here some time ago with friends and suggested it for dinner with our adult kids and us. A great choice for somewhere off the beaten path of the Chicago standbys and on the road to some really good Italian food! We were lucky enough to get a booth all the way in the front of the dining room up against the front window. The dining room is loud and seems to get louder with each bottle of wine poured. We settled in with a bottle of Chianti Ruffino which was perfect with dinner. One had a caesar salad, one the filet and the others pasta. I added some Italian sausage to my cavetelli. The bread is definitely a must -- we had to ask for another loaf. Freshly baked and sliced and warm as it arrives at the table -- nothing better. Our waiter was on top of his game -- and it seemed like that would be his norm. Too full for dessert but left with a great memory of a family dinner in the city that will not soon be forgotten.

We decided to have dinner here as we were looking for a place to have a private party. We attended one here years ago and it was great, so we wanted to see if it was still good. Spoiler alert - it's not. The martinis were delicious - everything else was kind of bland and unexceptional. We had calamari, one veal dish, one chicken dish, one pasta dish and a salad and none of us liked anything enough to finish it. Servings are very large, and I will say the chicken was much better as leftovers. I think they are cashing in on nostalgia, because this place really was excellent in the 90s. If people are willing to to still come for that, good for them, but we will not be returning.

Sat outside chatting with the locals on a beautiful evening. Good food, good martini's in a cool neighborhood

This restaurant now offers valet parking and this is a big plus. It is located in the Bucktown area a very popular spot for shopping, and a difficult spot to find parking. The menu is varied mostly Italian, open for lunch and dinner seating inside and out. There is a large bar area and a local crowd. It is not on the main street but rather on a side street and has been there for years. We went with family and had ravioli, chicken vesuvio, veal parmesan and one other entrée that I didn't see. All the food was very good, the service was prompt and courteous - we were there at 5:45 or so and were seated right away. I am not sure if they take reservations - the dining room is large and the menu is varied. Recommend if you are in that part of Chicago.

Came here on a prohibition tour. Of all the places we went, this was my favorite! The cocktail I had was superb. Service was very swift, professional and friendly. The decor is super cool. We didn't eat anything, but saw what others got and it looked delicious. Would love to go back the next time I'm in the city.

We've been to this restaurant & bar many times. This Saturday it was for a 50th birthday dinner. Drinks at the bar while we waited for the crew to all arrive. Service was swift and drinks were good. Once seated, we enjoyed family-style appetizers and salad - which were excellent. Then we all ordered or split entrees. Again, very solid stuff. I wouldn't say it was exceptional but the service was strong and food was hot and tasty.

Wonderful neighborhood old school Italian. It was our first time at Club Lucky, but it definitely won't be our last. Great service by Eugene (Geno) as we named him :). The food was outstanding and we had a beautiful bottle of Italian Red wine to compliment our entrees. Desserts were a wonderful way to end the meal. I highly recommend Club Lucky.

Not the most inventive, but classic Italian in a family friendly atmosphere. LOVE the eggplant parm.

Stopped here on my way from downtown to O'Hare on the Blue Line. Get off at Damen and walk about 4 blocks, it will be worth it. Sat at the bar and had perfect service. Had the veal meatball sandwich with fries. Definitely worth the extra buck for the melted mozzarella cheese. Great atmosphere and great food. Have not been here in about 15 years and the food is as good or better than I remember. Cannot wait to bring my wife here in the future. Thanks Club Lucky!

I came here with friends while visiting the city. It has a nice atmosphere, friendly staff. We ordered starters and entrees, while the portions were (for me too) large, they were good. Only comment we had is the waitress mixed up my friend's entree and instead of salmon she got something completely different. They sincerely apologized and invited her for a drink, it was a plain mix up and we will for sure go back there next time.

Went with my son on a Wednesday night. Really nice neighborhood type of feel, I have nothing bad to say. This place has an excellent vibe to it!! The club lucky martinis we good, the club lucky salad was good and the chicken Vesuvio was outstanding!!! Definitely can't wait to go back!!!

Had to find a table for 14 last minute on a Friday night, have traveled with the same group to Chicago for 23 years in a row. I found Club Lucky on OpenTable, reviews were great, so I booked a table. It was a fantastic find, one of the highlights for this group. The service was outstanding (Mike) and all the people could not have been nicer. The food was very good especially the sausage appetizer and the ribs. Cocktails were excellent. The place was decorated for Christmas and had a great, fun vibe. It's nestled in a residential area of Wicker Park off the main drag. Highly recommended, will return!

We were visiting our adult children in Chicago who chose Club Lucky to meet for dinner. They raved about the food, atmosphere and service, and it did not disappoint. We had reservations for 6:45 and were sat immediately. The server was attentive without being intrusive. So important. We ordered the meatball/salad and sausage/peppers appetizers for the table and they were fabulous. Large portions where our party of 7 got to try each. Our entrees came and were also great, large portions and we all took some home. A few had room for tiramisu, which I nibbled and highly recommend. When we walked out, the place was slammed! Just goes to show, people know a good thing when they see it.

Solid spot that takes reservations! Food was extremely with a wide variety of selections. Only con would be that service was a tad slow.

Great atmosphere with nice attention to detail. I had the chicken Parmesan. I’ve had better. A little messy and sloppy.

A longtime foodie resident of Bucktown/Wicker Park suggested that we have dinner at Club Lucky, so our expectations were set a tad higher than usual. We are pleased to report that the recommendation was well-founded, and we had a deadly-serious Italian feast. My Sapphire Martini neat with three bleu cheese-stuffed olives set the tone. Ahhhh...gin perfection! The penne with heafty meatballs was "abudanza." I opted for the seafood pasta special of scallops, shrimp and squid "swimming" in pink vodka sauce...soooo delicious! We saved room for homemade tiramisu, of course. Our server, Mike N. was fun and made us feel more special than we deserved. Both dining rooms were packed on a Friday night, so make sure to book a table. We loved the kitschy mid-century moderne decor and sputnik lighting. There's a service bar where Chef was busy preparing sides and dessert and slicing fresh bread loaves. The smaller Club Room can be booked for private parties, and they deliver as well as cater. The bar scene is convivial and sidewalk seating is neighborly and inviting on this quiet, leafy corner of Bucktown/Wicker Park, as evidenced by strollers and leashed pets. Parking? "Fugettabahdit!" Residential street parking only, so take the Blue Line to Damen and walk up one block and over three. 'Better come hungry, because at Club Lucky they don't mess around! "Mangia! Mangia! Mangia!"

Consistently good food and drink. Sometimes a bit pricey but in the end worth it. Great cocktails, ESP the martinis. Decor is awesome- very vintage and fun!

We visited here as part of 4 bars via the Prohibition tour. It was defiantly our favourite as it had the best selection of cocktails, each one very more-ish. The day we arrived there seemed to be a 1920's themed party in full swing so it really felt delightfully apt. It was a little cramped at the bar itself but that just goes to show how popular it is. The decor is lovely and whilst we were on the tour, we found out how rich its history is which really blows you away. If you want a good cocktail in Chicago, here's the place to go.

In Chi. on business, my friend suggested Club Lucky. Very friendly service, we sat at the bar for dinner. Fresh bread with olive oil was provided immediately. Caesar salad was well portioned, not overly doused in dressing, fresh anchovies on top. We both had pasta dishes. I had a special which was oversized rigatoni, grilled chicken, sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms in a light cream sauce. This was excellent and I will soon try to replicate this at home. My friend had baked rigatoni with veal meatballs. I didn't try it but his plate was wiped clean. Generous pours on the mixed drinks too. Highly recommended.

This is a great restaurant in a residential area in Chicago. I really like coming here with friends for a great Italian dinner. It's not trendy nor cutting edge in any way but the place is comforting, it has a boisterous old school vibe, and the food is good. fried calamari to start is delicious, the bread and olive oil they serve to nibble on, and pastas are all delicious. I'd recommend this if you are looking for an old-school fun Italian place in Chicago. It can be busy, so be prepared. Good prices and a fun place. Highly recommend.

My wife and I have been going to Club Lucky since our first date on Halloween of 2009, and we've been back many times since, including every year to celebrate the anniversary of that first date. I'm vegetarian, and there are plenty of different vegetarian options here, including the Homemade Lasagna (cheese, or Bolognese). This is one of my favorite Italian dishes, but cheese lasagna can be tough to find on a lot of Italian restaurant menus these days. We've tried pretty much everything on the menu, and it's been mostly excellent, but some of our favorites include, the Stuffed Artichoke, Baked Little Neck Clams, Mozzarella Fritti, Traditional Pasta Squares, Linguini with Fresh Manila Clams, Homemade 8 Finger Cavatelli. The service is always excellent. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the support staff is always quick to take finished plates away, fill up water glasses, and keep the table clean. The restaurant is not a huge space, so it's not always easy to walk in and get a table, especially on the weekend. Summer does get a bit easier, when it's warm enough for their outdoor seating, but reservations are the best bet. Club Lucky is located in the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood (literally, surrounded by houses), which is a really hip, fun part of Chicago and very walkable. Because it's part of a neighborhood, it can definitely be tricky to park. Some of the closest street parking is zoned for residents, but there's meter parking a block or two west, closer to Damen, or just a couple of blocks to the south on North Avenue. As an alternative to fighting for a spot, the restaurant does have valet parking. This place serves classic Italian food, and has remained consistently good over the years. They have tons of options on the menu, great service, and a really cool atmosphere. Club Lucky is an excellent spot for a date, a meal with friends, or even Sunday family dinner.

Club Lucky is just fun. A busy restaurant has an old and familiar family-feel. We waited a bit for our table at a busy bar area with guests having fun. The menu option offered some well prepared starters and we all love our main meals. Most everyone had the pasta. We would go there again, tomorrow, especially for the warm yet busy atmosphere.

Went to dinner with my son and a friend. Started with the Blackened Calamari. Is was good, but the portion very small. Table next to us had the fried and it was huge. Dinner was very good and good portions. Our server was Mike and he was attentive without bugging us. Nice job Mike.

It is much larger than it appears on the outside. There is a large, spacious dining area that is attractively designed with a retro look. It was beautifully decorated for Valentine's Day. We had an excellent waitor and server. The menu boasts amwide variety of Italian dishes. Our party of five each sampled something different and we were all pleased. Thr portions were so generous we did not have room to sample from the enticing dessert menu.

A neighborhood Bar and Restaurant that will not disappoint. Very friendly staff. Great drinks and lots of places to sit inside and out. Had bruschetta as an appetizer and it was very good. Food was also very good, very good pasta dishes. Sat outside, great area, perfect neighborhood place.

I came as part of a prohibition history tour - the venue itself is fascinating but the cocktails were next level. It was great to feel like you were in an old school diner with quality drinks and people who care when they are mixing them. Unfortunately our stay was short but I would definitely go back for a visit

First time visit (How is that possible?) was very satisfying. Very charming room. Some places use Traditional as an excuse for cheap. Not Club Lucky. Very nice decor. The menu has good choices and the specials are just that, Special. I had the salmon. Very tasty! The artichoke appetizer was wonderful. Everyone was satisfied with their selections. Fresh bread with fresh olive oil-oh so good. The service staff were all great. On top of their game. Our back waiter looked like he stepped right out of a Hollywood action blockbuster. Maybe he was? A solid choice for any occasion.

Good, old-fashioned Italian red sauce cuisine, served in a fun atmosphere. We never get tired of this place and come every Christmas for dinner when we're in town. Round table, red-checked tablecloths, efficient service, etc. You'll need to take a car or a cab from the Loop to Wicker Park/Bucktown, but it's worth it to us. Cool bar too.

Club Lucky is a vintage restaurant that has been making the finest memorable ribs for a long, long time. It was a favorite of Ol’ Blue Eyes and many other notables. It’s a must on your next visit ti the windy city.

When we arrived I was greeted at the entrance and shown to a fantastic table where Kelsey promptly introduced herself and told us the specials took our drink order and settled us in for our evening. Her service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was excellent and arrived quickly after it was ordered. The restaurant was busy and had a few large party's there but it was still easy to have a conversation with my date. Definitely going back to try more of the menu.

This place is ordinary---not worth driving west of Halsted St. It was far better in the 90's----guess success can spoil the food. The Lasagna was below par. The Calamari too chewy. The bread was probably from yesterday. The Linguini with white clam sauce was totally average. These reasons might explain the empty tables at Dinner time.

Don't miss out if you are in the Chicago area. It's a gem in the Bucktown neighborhood. Remember restaurants that are not in strip malls? This one takes you back to those days and travel if you have to to get there. I've been a million times and it never ever disappoints. Great place for a date, with friends, for a special occation in a private room. Noice level is pretty loud for dinner but not as bad for lunch. The food is outstanding. Starting with hot yummy crunchy bread. Don't forget to try the Fish Salad or the Green Bean Salad. If you love their pasta sauce, you can even take it home. It's a don't miss place even if you just stop in for a drink. There is just something about the feel to it. Love love love Club Lucky.

Although this place have its own parking lot it is tiny compering to how much guests they can accommodate. Parking on the streets is not easy to find ( and we came here during the they for lunch .... I was glad we decided to take only one car here). But I was impressed by their fish salad. Actually there was not much fish nor salad in it but it was a great calamari dish. I also liked the fig salad someone from our group ordered. It is very Italian restaurant with an old flare and vintage atmosphere. I was glad that besides indoor rooms ( I believe there are 3 indoor zones ) they had outdoor tables. It was too d and too dark to seat inside for me and the day was perfect for outside eating....

Amazes me how efficiently this busy restaurant serves customers. It seems to always be packed for dinner, but the food and service is excellent every time. Last night I veered away from my usual pasta and tried the salmon oregenato. Outstanding. Add great food to an environment with history and character and you get a place worth going and going back to. Just understand that it’s going to be loud and busy.

Went to Club Lucky for the first time last weekend. Great hot fresh bread and the linguine with shrimp was to die for. And you also can't go wrong with their martinis! Loved the atmosphere. Felt like we were living in the 1940s. Would definitely recommend!

Reservation is recommended, go early if you didn't make one. Great atmosphere, neighborhood place, very friendly and helpful. Bring a big appetite, servings are huge.

Traditional Italian restaurant with very good food. The eggplant parmigiana is perhaps the best in chicago. This is a favorite restaurant for lunch by some city employees who can go anywhere. In the summer there are some sidewalk tables which are dog friendly. For hearty Italian fare, hard to beat.

The good reviews are accurate. This has been a go to restaurant on mine for many years. We travel from the burbs for the great atmosphere, delicious food and tasty cocktails at least a few times a year! Go and enjoy an unpretentious Italian dinner!

Located on the quite residential Wabansia Street in Wicker Park close to Damen Ave, this large bar and dining space has a New York feel. The food is quite good and the service is accomplished and friendly. The pastas and the many appetizers all seem to be winners. The busy bar serves some good drinks and serves beers and a small selection of reasonably priced wines. Especially on Fridays and Saturdays reservations should be a must. Even then, it can be slow getting to the table. The main bar area even has a not too- loud juke box. (Really can't remember the last time I saw one.) Given the size and the crowds, management seems to make it work reasonably well. In the warm weather months there is some outdoor seating. Would highly recommend this for an outing of family or friends: some patience required. Valet parking is available or pay for parking spots on and near Damen.

Huge martinis and lots of Italian food.

Club Lucky is a 1940s supper club and cocktail lounge that specializes in old-time Italian recipes. Located at 1824 West Wabansia Avenue in Chicago's Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood, it opened in 1990 and immediately caught everyone's attention with its brick walls, formica tables, oversized Naugahyde booths, signature home-made pastas, desserts and grandmother's Italian recipes. Along the way, they earned a prestigious recommendation from the Michelin Guide. My wife and I started with grilled calamari, the meat and cheese board with traditional dried Italian meats and salamis and Club Lucky's signature salad with carrots, celery, tomatoes, Genoa salami, Bermuda onion, fontinella cheese, Sicilian olives, roasted peppers, pepperoncini and Romaine lettuce with Club Lucky dressing. For an entree, my wife chose the home-made lasagna, noodles layered with ricotta, spinach, mozzarella and tomato sauce, while I opted for the fresh Salmon Vesuvio with roasted potatoes, peas, white wine and garlic. For dessert, we shared large slices of home-made chocolate layer cake and tiramisu. My wife, who is half-Italian, was convinced her grandmother was working in the kitchen. It doesn't get any more Italian than that.

We decided to try this restaurant upon recommendation from a good friend who has lived in Chicago his entire life. We are so glad we did! You do need a reservation, as this place is quite small and fills up quickly. I had the Chicken Vesuvio, and my wife had the Chicken Francese. Absolutely excellent! Prices were also in line and reasonable. The only con is that it's very noisy in the dining room, and you have to shout at each other to hear your conversation. That wouldn't keep me from returning, but it is something to note. Many restaurants in the city are like this, so it's just something you have to keep in mind.

Great service and even better food! We stopped by Club Lucky after the Tom Dreesen show while we were in Chicago and were pleasantly surprised. Their menu has something for everyone (I got the ravioli and LOVED it!) and the bread alone is worth a visit. Plus, the staff were friendly and helpful. An all around great experience!

Went for lunch on a weekday with a mostly empty place, but which I understand is mobbed at night. Decor feels like being in a time warp. Three of us ordered eggplant parmigiana sandwiches. Large portion, good bread. It came with a strange potato salad (really? With Italian food?) that was plain potatoes with Italian dressing. Salads were good and pre meal fresh warm bread with olive oil was very good. The server was good but it took a surprisingly long time to get our food given that only a few other tables were occupied. Tables were nicely spaced.

I love Italian food and am always hunting for that elusive great place; be it fine dining or a neighborhood spot. One thing I love is the smell of garlic which is a key component of many fine Italian dishes. I made reservation and requested a boot as deplore sitting at a two top (lack of space on the table), but upon checking in was shown to a two top and after I spoke to the host about my request for a booth, and seeing an empty booth I was told that there was another reservation that requested a booth and that they got it. Ok, srtike one. We ordered the fig salad along with the Caprese salad and both were lackluster at best. The fig salad was dressed in so light a dressing that I had to add balsamic oil to elicit any flavor. As for the Caprese the tomatoes where not ripe and to make matters worse they were sliced 1/2 to 3/4 inch, which is way too thick; especially considering the tomatoes were not ripe. Strike two. We were more successful with our entrees. My wife had the veal meatballs and I had the rigatoni with bolognese. Both were good but not enough to bring me back anytime soon. I do want to say service was very good but be aware that if you're seating in the center of the main dining room that tables are on top of each other; again a reason why a requested a booth.

Friday night, place is packed, got table somewhat timely then it went South. Horrible service from beginning to end. Had veal marsala and have had much better. Asked for half of it to be boxed up. Opened the box the next day and it was a left over salad. I will never go back.

My company chose Club Lucky as the location for our monthly meeting and we were more then pleased when introduced to their private "Club Room". Aside from the delicious homestyle Italian cuisine we enjoyed, our server was more then accommodating and the music was rocking. Overall we felt right at home and have since officially selected Club Lucky as our future meeting spot. I definitely encourage others to check out this hidden gem!

Have been going for good dinners for years. Wait staff great. Nice homey vibe. Ask for a booth. Meatball salad a must. Consistent quality, delicious Italian cuisine. Street parking if u look for it!

I wanted to see how this place had evolved from decades ago. We were treated to generous portions of very fresh product, treated with care. The calamari were as good as I have ever had. The Veal Marsala is barely kissed by the Marsala, allowing the veal stock and mushrooms to shine as the accompaniment to the meat. The linguini and seafood were not destroyed by garlic. Penne Arrabiata was not drowned in sauce. The meatballs are delicate and have a great texture. The Pasta Fagiole is a meal unto itself. The meat and cheese board is nicely portioned and the home-cures are excellent. Drinks are downtown priced as is wine, and they need at least a couple more reasonably priced wines to offer. Dessert no big deal. Service is brisk and friendly. I give credit to the owners for the menu as many of the flavors remind me of a friend's mother's kitchen many years ago. The look of the place is great, the acoustics suck. A couple cannot hold a conversation. The restaurant has been geared appropriately for young urbans and for parties of 4 and up. We will routinely return, just not when we need to discuss anything important over a meal but when we have a hankering for their food.

Can't believe I've not yet reviewed Club Lucky. Been going here for years and it has been a tried and true standby for delightful, legitimate, home style Italian food. Portion sizes are huge - sort of like what your Italian grandmother might pile on your plate cause you are a growing boy and need fed. Don't even get me started about how many meals you can get out of the lasagna entree. Wow. And tasty? You bet. I always order the calamari because it's probably the best I've ever had. Bold statement to be sure but I always test an Italian restaurant by their calamari. If you find any better than this please let me know! It's a comfortable place, great service, terrific salads, spectacular specials, and they always have water bowls and a container of dog biscuits outside the front door. A terrific neighborhood restaurant worthy of your patronage. Look for me with a container of leftovers that will be my dinner tomorrow. Yum.

My husband and I dashed in for dinner and decided to eat in the bar instead of the spacious diningroom. Bar has a great jukebox and red leather banquette booths. We highly recommend the vegetarian antipasti filled to the brim with a delicious grilled eggplant, onions, zucchini and other savory delights. Shared an order of ribs with a BBQ sauce that was sweet and sour with an emphasis on vinegar. All good. Over the years, we have enjoyed pasta of all kinds and many other delicious offerings. A great place to go with friends. Summertime sidewalk seating on quiet street.

We loved this bar! Best drinks ever! Their mixologists are experts! Totally great neighborhood bar!!! We would visit it again and try the amazing food we saw pass us. We had a lovely meat and cheese platter while enjoying a great lemon drop!!

We ordered in for delivery from Club Lucky thinking their Italian sausage sandwich would be excellent. And it was disappointingly just okay. We won’t order in from Club Lucky again.

Visited this place on Prohibition tour but wished we’d known about it prior, most amazing place to visit if you wish to go back in time! Would recommend the killer cocktails

We had a business lunch which turned into an entire afternoon! The weather was very pleasant and we chose to dine outdoors. The "calamari" is as touted...GREAT! The drinks and the lunch menu was very good. The young lady that waited on our busy table was very cordial and did an outstanding job.

Like the neighborhood itself, Club Lucky’s quality and charm have been diluted by its own popularity. People may love this place somewhat irrationally because it’s such an institution. My wife and I had dinner with another couple. We hadn’t been here in almost 10 years and remembered it fondly. Before dinner drink was weak. Sausage and peppers appetizer was a stand out. No complaints. But the menu is dominated by predictable Italian fare that is so-so and unimaginative. Risotto special with shrimp was boring, the risotto WAY too sticky and the shrimp over cooked. Chicken Parmesan was average. Tortellini was well cooked, but under seasoned and flavorless enough that the pine nuts topping it were at times the strongest flavor. A bottle of house Gabbiano Chianti was $36, or $10.99 at Jewel. Service was good, the wait wasn’t long. On a packed Saturday night the dining room was dark and deafening. It seems to be getting by on reputation and one other thing they can’t put on the menu-location.
Loved Club Lucky!
Great business/social dinner at Club Lucky. Old time supper club atmosphere. Good food, ambiance, great service. Italian specialties, but the menu is more than just Italian. Opened with a round of martinis and cheese/meat board. Dinner was exceptional from Italian, to lamb chops, to ribs. Never even opened the menu, our server made excellent suggestions. Good choice for business, family, or date night. I love the bar supper club setting. Can't wait to return.
