Good service and atmosphere; good food but not 5

By Svein |

Nice atmosphere and local. Good and efficient service. Attentive waiters. Very good truffle paste and good Sangiovese wine that suited perfectly. I also ordered a regular tomato pastarette without this impressing me.

The time went to sf.

The food was delicious. The staff are incredibly attentive and extremely knowledgeable regarding the extensive Italian wine selection and the high quality seasonal menu. The ambiance is chili with a cool vibe.We had a amazing experience and can not wait to return for a future selection. We met the owner Alexis who is very friendly.

Delicious. Small portions but full of flavor.

Delicious. Small portions but very tasty and friendly staff. I was traveling for work and dining by myself at the bar. The ahi tuna tartare was ridiculously small, but very good, on a squid ink cracked. The ricotta gnocchi with morel mushrooms and peas was absolutely delicious. The octopus with chickpeas was cooked beautifully and very seasoned; I'm not a fan of spicy food but this was hot at the right level. Finally the butterscotch budino was luscious and decadent. Absolutely recommended

Stunning food

The food here was so beautiful and delicious. We had the lasagna which had so many thin slices of pasta it looked like filo pastry, and the chicken which was so tender and came with beautifully cooked peppers, artichoke and potatoes. It was a highlight of our trip.

For Italians not too demanding

We booked for dinner and were greeted by the extremely friendly and helpful staff. The very nice place, the dishes seen from Italian leave a little puzzled but overall very good. The tiramisu I would say superlative, there is work to do on espresso coffee. Prices a bit above average, but overall it was a good dinner. If you are not too picky Italian I Recommendation

Welcoming and delicious neighborhood spot

We received a warm welcome as we arrived at Collina. Our server was kind and responsive. Delicious food with sophisticated flavors and ingredients. Fun to watch the Hyde Street cable cars rumble past.

Excellent meal!

We decided to take a walk from Union Square to visit this beautiful little restaurant. We wanted to get out of the tourist crowd area and we were glad we did. The food and service was great. The menu wasn't too big, which was nice. They are concentrating on what is fresh and what they do well. The restaurant was a very quaint neighborhood restaurant and we loved it. It's also right on the cable car line if you did want to use that easy transportation to get there. We'll definitely go back and recommend to our friends.

Quality meal and fantastic service!

When researching dinner options in San Fransisco, we first discovered Seven Hills, Collina's sister restaraunt. That led us to making a reservation at Collina. Collina is a smaller restaraunt but it offers quality service and delcious food. We enjoyed the Rosemary Focaccia, the Della Fattoria Toast with K&J Farms Bartlett Pear, Prosciutto, Honey Whipped Taleggio and the Wild Mushroom Arancini to begin our dinner. The arancini was hands down our favorite. I am still dreaming of the flavor and texture days later. For our entrees we had the Steamed PEI Mussels, the Agnolotti with Caramelized Sunchokes, Quince, Ricotta, Sage and the Lasagnette. My son raved about his mussels. And you just cannot go wrong with any of the pastas on their menu. It was all delcious. Collina and Seven Hills are worth checking out when in San Fransisco.

Can't wait to go back, beautiful experience.

What a beautiful meal we had! Found this restaurant online, as it was close to my partner's new place in Nob Hill. Everything about the experience was top-notch, beautiful food (try the Panzanella and the lasagnette!!), a delicious bottle of Verdicchio, a decadent dessert, all made even more perfect by impeccable service. I can't think of one thing negative to say about this place. Bravo.

Wonderful small delicious Italian gem!

For the second year in a row, while visiting San Francisco, we find amazing small Italian place, that would be totally unjust not to praise here in the Trip Advisor! This little gem is not even anywhere near Little Italy. It is tucked in on a street corner next to a cable car stop. Everything about this place was truly impressive! From the start, we appreciated its easy unpretentious vibe, sufficient selection on the menu and very courteous service. But what really made it stand out for us was how quickly (3-5 min for appetizers and no more than 20 for the main dishes) we were served, and, most importantly, how delicious everything was! It was definitely not a "high end" dishes, but our chicken, crab cakes, and even picked veggies were just as tasty as they were filling! I would definitely recommend this place for an easy quick and truly delicious Italian meal

The Collina experience

My Husband and I had the best evening at Collina. The Raviolo Uovo is amazing, But the lasagnette is my all time favorite. I am a lasagna lover and have had it many times and in different places in italy. Of course every chef makes it their own, the sugo is rich and flavorful, packed with a big taste of italy. We have alway loved their sister restaurant Seven Hills. The manager knew so much about the wine list, if you love italian wines you'll love all the choices. Bravo to the chef! Collina is intimate and beautiful.
