Excellent saloon....with quite a history! Get there in the early afternoon and watch the barkeeps prep for the evening. There is nothing better than watching a pro craft a cocktail, and these folks are some of the best in the business!

Atmosphere was very nice, food was delicious! Well-balanced flavours and surprising combinations. Like the appetizer, which was warm green olives with an orange, thyme and chili syrup. Go on a Sunday, as they do Sunday Dinner with larger meny and lower prices.

This saloon is something from the 50’s. There is 2 sides and both have a slightly different vibe so have a drink in each. Sit at the bar and the bar tenders love a chat. Play a game and see how many monkeys you can spot in the bar

My mate tipped me off about this charming little bar, I enjoyed a G&T followed by a Vermouth shaken over ice. The bar tenders were polite and knowledgeable, the crowd seemed mostly to be made up of city workers. Decent saloon on the edge of China town.

The drink selection was okay, but our kids liked the freshly popped popcorn. Our little dog was welcomed in the saloon, and it was a nice place to wait out of the heat until our tour began. The staff was very nice and friendly.

I won't lie, I came here because I saw it on Bourdain's "No Reservations." I loved this place. My wife and I tried to get in on a Thursday evening, but it was too crowded. We were looking for something more low-key. We tried again the next afternoon around 4 p.m. There were probably only about 10 people in the place, so we pulled up to the bar. The bartender was very friendly and funny, without being overwhelming. The drinks are expensive, averaging around $12. But there were so many fantastic options in a menu heavy on concoctions of scotch, or gin, or absinthe...all the spirits to remind you of older, better drinking days, before ridiculous things like 64-calorie lime beers and Four-Lokos. I had a sazerac and a blood & sand. My wife had a cherry bounce. They were strong and delicious. There was a mix of tourists and locals. One woman, a local, came in visibly upset and telling the bartender about a problem at work. The bartender lent an ear, and even shared a few shots with her. We tried a couple items off the menu, and they were excellent as well.

Just happened in on this bar for a few drinks and loved it! Everyone on staff was nice, but Jamie went above and beyond to help think of good dinner places nearby for us to go to. We loved her recommendation for Copa's and have a list of some more places to go this week. Will go back to Comstock's for sure! Comfy corner bar with nice music, friendly people and clean water closets!

This is a saloon. Right? On the Barbary Coast. Did I miss something? In the tradition of John's Grill (for those who can remember Dashiell Hammett), Sam's Grill (for those who have forgotten Sam Spade if they ever knew who he was in the first place), a San Francisco institution: THE BAR and GRILL restaurant! The drinks: they are not drinks. They are weird-watery concoctions of Hawaiian Punch and Four Roses with a fresh sprig of lavender for the Ladies Aid Society. I had the hanger steak. Twenty-five smackeroos worth of it. It was four miniscule slices of steak over two tablespoons of potato-zucchini-mushroom mélange on a huge platter. Any normal, respectable, trying-to-be-authentic vintage restaurateur, would be embarrassed to serve this crap up. Not these guys. It's drinks for people who are not interested in drinking, and food for people who are interested in imitation-flannel plaid shirts, desert boots, and their smartphones. But we made a deal: they agreed to remove the rip-off that they called dinner and I agreed not to pay for it. But it was trendy. Way trendy.

We found this place by searching on tripadvisor for "American" and "$$". We were so happy we chose it based on some other wonderful reviews. We had just taken a long hike and were starving. The cocktails and food really hit the spot. We enjoyed the pickle plate with a side of ranch dressing….then hubby had a burger and I had clams with pork belly in a nice broth. Fantastic. And the cocktail….I can't recall the name but I'm posting a picture….was wonderful!!! Such nice service too…You have to give this place a try.

A great place with fabulous food and super friendly staff. Try the brussel sprouts! They had a really fun band playing which added to our enjoyment.

"Pan-roasted local halibut" + sauvignon blanc wine, excellent combination for who wants something light and full of flavor...

Wow found this bar by chance and a great find it was. The inside of the bar is so atmospheric and the staff behind the bar are friendly and knowledgeable. Try a cocktail, mixed with love it is a real find of a place

I like the ambience a lot and the drinks were pretty good, but this place gets Packed and mgmt is not very organized when it comes to seating people at the booth. Our group of 6 was forced to huddle around a stool at the bar for 2 hours while the booths were taken up by groups of 2-3 people. When the booths opened up, they proceeded to seat MORE groups of 2-3 people (apparently they had a "waiting list" which we were NOT privy to) while our group grew to 8 people. When we were finally seated after 2.5 hours of being there, we were VERY hungry, not thrilled with the odd food selection and decided to go to R&G Lounge. We literally sat there for 20 mins and left. We would have drank a LOT more if we were seated at the booth a lot longer before instead of being shoved and pushed standing in the way by the bar. We may even have eaten there. Not smart

Really had a nice evening here. Live music and a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely return. Anchor steam on tap!

I did not have food, but the drinks were off the chart. These guys do bourbon drinks as well as they do them in New Orleans....and with flair. We went there twice. Very good service an atmosphere. Very close to the Hilton and China town. A great stop on Columbus. The bartenders are really skilled. Try an Old Fashioned or a sazerac

I will start by saying that the ambiance is great and the drinks are unique and delicious. That being said, the bartender was AWFUL. She was fine at first and the drinks she made were delicious but then we never got one second of her attention again. We had wanted to order some food but instead of asking what we wanted she took the menus away and put them back by her register without a word. We also wanted to try some other drinks but we could not get her attention even when we called her name and she stood directly in front of us and looked the other way. For the next 45 minutes we waited to get her attention and ask for our bill. Even getting our bill seemed to put her out. There was another bartender and only 5 other people at the bar while we were there so it wasn’t like she was busy. I’ve worked in customer service and my husband was a bartender in college so we are both well aware of how to treat customers. I don’t know if being rude and unhelpful is their schtick or what but I would never go back and made sure to tell our friends who are heading out to SFO for a conference to not bother either.

Chosen fairly randomly. Not too busy on a Tuesday evening. Really good service. Some excellent smoked salmon on potato puffs, crispy crab wontons, really tasty chicken sliders and some of the best fries ever. And fantastic live jazz.

High expectations are held on this place. The gold rush ambiance strengthened by the outift of the staff makes it a colorful choice. For some reason, everyone has a beard (?). That said our choice was simple: sit at the bar and for USD 13 let the bartender come up with whatever he wants. A couple questions are asked and magic is performed: we loved each and every one of the drinks he delivered. I would highly recommend asking the bartender to work on something with Aqua VIT, he does wonders with it.

Great place to stop for a late night drink, great live music from the balcony, this must have been a hit back in the day, seems like it's had a face lift but definitely still has charm.

I went to Comstock Saloon after reading some great reviews on Yelp. I had high hopes for it as they play live jazz. When we walked in the decor was of a speak easy with a euro feel. I enjoyed the decor. We sat ourselves and a waitress came over. She left a lot too be desired service wise. We asked for recommendations, she told us to look at the first page of the drink menu. We asked about specialities for this bar, she again referred us to the front of the menu. We per used and chose drinks ourselves. She was not friendly in any manner. We asked about live music and she seemed confused before finally admitting that they had it in the next room. Expectantly you would assume she would offer that she could move us, NO. We had to ask and then were told there were no seats when in fact there were 4 tables. Once she finally decided to check, she said there was one available. Again we stared at each other before I finally asked "Well can we move there". She was disappointing in her job. The singer / pianist was great. But she did not interact with the crowd at all, it seemed to be cumbersome. The waitress never checked on us. For a place with so much potential, they failed on service. Oh the drink. We ordered a Gin and tonic lemon spritzer. It was okay, no umph or uniqueness. But was refreshing.

I went here for a beer and some chicken wings. The beer was great and so was the service, but the wings were surprisingly mediocre. Would still recommend at least for drinks though!

We ate here and had a few drinks before going to a gig at the Fox Theatre in Oakland. The food was great and so were the cocktails. The barman even made a different rum cocktail for my husband who didn't see anything he liked on the menu. The huge timber bar is beautiful, the music was great and I loved the style of the place. I was sorry when we had to leave.

We spent a lovely hour pre-dinner sitting in this cozy saloon, admiring the bartenders shaking up a storm as they made dozens of craft cocktails for the appreciative crowd. Trying to remember my cocktail - think it was something like Fourth Regiment - with rye. Very interesting! The Comstock has a split personality. It is composed of two rooms. One a warm wood saloon with booths as well as the bar. The other side - at the corner - is black and white tile and brighter, almost like an ice cream shop decor. You could be completely unaware of the other side! They connect at through a walk-through towards the back of the building. Both are popular and crowded!

This is a must-do if you’re in SF. Not only is it historic and many original features, the bartenders are top-notch. I told the bartender my favorite drink and he created an even better one on the spot. It’s very reasonable and a great time.

We randomly walked I. To this place and instantly loved it. The atmosphere was great. Decor of early San Francisco. The staff and management were very friendly. Great custom cocktails and good lunch specials. Will try to stop in each time I am in San Francisco.

Unique atmosphere. The place offers the possibility to sit at the table or at the counter. The menu consists of various dishes, but the burger is terrific. The icing on the cake is the music, a jazz band accompanies the evening in the background. Cocktails are also very good.

Popped in for some food and what we planned on being a few drinks. We were greeted warmly by the bartender and sat at the bar to order our first drink. First impressions were great, cool venue, friendly professional service and not badly priced. We asked to sit at an empty table to eat which wasn't a problem. However the server looking after the section we were in was so cold it made us feel uncomfortable. It felt like we were putting her out just by being there. She never even attempted to crack a smile the entire time we were there, to us or any of the tables nearby. By far the most unfriendly service we've experienced in San Fran. Food was distinctly average. Bartender we apologise for the poor tip but your Middle eastern server completely let you and the venue down.

Had a few drinks and ate dinner (the hamburger was delicious) on the recommendation of a friend. It's an attractive, hipster-esque bar/restaurant (there was a bearded guy in a vest making the drinks) that clearly has some history behind it to keep it from being too faux trendy. The drinks were in the $12-17 dollar range and their signature cocktails were good. The food was tasty (the roasted Brussel Sprouts appetizer was very good) and the service was great. I'd definitely go back again if I lived in the area.

Loved this place. It's just on the edge of Chinatown and very popular. Great cocktails and tasty food dishes served. The interior of the bar is full of character and rather old fashioned in style but it hit the spot for me. I'll be back.

I was staying at the Hilton Financial and was sent here on a recommendation. Just a short walk from the Hilton - as I'd just hit town - it was a most enjoyable experience. Décor is interesting ; the guys sure know how to mix drinks ; and a very pleasant ambience. Best of all for me was the wonderful antique style glasses they serve cocktails in. Definitely will come back here !

We were in Chinatown and we're looking for a place to grab a quick drink. So I saw there was a happy hour and stopped. Very nice Atmosphere inside. Wait staff was very friendly we will be back again.

Dropped in with a friend one day to grab a beer and were pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere and service! We didn't know what we wanted so we asked the bartender for a recommendation, and he suggested a light Pilsner that was perfect for the afternoon. Comstock has a classy environment and great relaxing tunes (rather than Top 40 music found at many bars) from multiple decades ago. We wanted to come back to try some food but had to leave before Comstock opened the next day. Highly recommend this place. I'll be back when I visit SF again.

Walked by this establishment after a dinner in North Beach. One of the first things you notice when you walk in on a Friday night is the band is playing in a balcony up above which is really cool. The owners obviously spent some money on the decor of this place as it seems like a newer version of something older from the prohibition days. The drinks were good and the waiter we had was personable and provided great service. Loved the Jazz, but wished they played much later than 11:00pm We were just getting started when they quit. We will definitely be back in the future.

Arguably the 2nd or 3rd oldest continuously operating bar in San Francisco (Elixir and Comstock dispute each others claim), this small, neighborhood bar has all the charm as when it was re-built after the Great Earthquake. The people here are a probably 40% locals and 60% tourists, but everyone is quite friendly. The bartenders are quite creative, producing some combinations that I've not tried before, but wish I had! Their menu is very nice, but give the bartender some latitude and you won't regret it. They also have a little library at the end of the bar (mostly dedicated to drinking, the Gold Rush or a combination of the two) that is pretty entertaining. Overall, I highly recommend a stop here if you're in the area.

If you are looking for an authentic, top-shelf San Francisco meal and/or cocktail served with mirth and zero pretension, this is the spot. I have lived in San Francisco for 25 years and can honestly say that after countless thousands of drinks and meals, this is the place I head to be welcomed like family and cares for with exceptional service. They didn’t just retire the place to period accuracy, they brought a vibe that’s near impossible to find in an increasingly cold and unfriendly city. Come for the cocktails, stay for the company. Locals and tourists alike get the red carpet treatment. Wish there were more stars available to rate with.

This is a cool place that doesn't pretend to be more than it is: a cocktail place with jazz and good food. The bartenders know their stuff and work with precision and old school detachment. Don't expect a "hi my name is ... and I'll be serving you this evening". They are not rude just professional. Had some good oysters, a nice burger and fries and some great Manhattens made perfectly. And some good jazz. And if your at the bar, look down. Some remnants from the past.

We went here for a special "meet the family" dinner. It was Sunday night so it was a limited menu, but the food and drinks were very good (and actually a little cheaper). We had several of the appetizers, including one of the best pretzels I've ever had. The decor is unique (especially the fan above the bar).

We went after we saw a review on TripAdvisor. We sat by the bar. The band was playing jazz and they were really good. The bartenders were really polite. The drinks and everything were delicious.

We came here for drinks and a chat and the drinks were certainly good. That’s where the positives ended though. Barely a couple of minutes after we ordered, a band started playing that were so loud for the small bar it killed all possibility fo conversation. The bar could not be more hipster if they’d spent the weekend shopping for hipster Knick-knacks in downtown hipsterville. Overly loud music killing our reason for being there, we left quickly.

This place has charm and character to burn. Looking like a 19th century saloon that’s updated for the 21st century. Very inviting menu with many, many choices. Garlic miso Tater tots to die for, shrimp with the heads on over polenta and herbed falafel shakshuka among many egg dishes that are outstanding. Take your friends and family here have a mimosa and enjoy. A winner.

This is a small place so the loud music made for a very loud dining experience. However, we got used to it and enjoyed our dinner. My mushroom pot pie was very good and our waitress was excellent.

Fun little bar with some amazing cocktails on the menu. I would def stop in again if I'm in the neighborhood. The staff was really nice and know what the the heck they are doing when pouring a drink.

My wife enjoys absinthe and I discovered this bar/restaurant in the North Beach area. Sit at the main bar complete with its original bar top and spittoon from the turn of the century. We had a bartender, I believe his name was Matt. Outstanding. Professional. The real deal. He made us several excellent absinthe cocktails. The best bar stop of our trip. Thanks.

I liked the look from the outside so we went in and were not disappointed!! The owner/bartender Jeff was an excellent host. He explained his concept which includes going to estate and yard sales to find vintage glassware. They make authentic drinks from the turn of the century and he will gladly take you on a journey of your favorite liquor mine being gin. The food was excellent especially the ricotta gnocchi!! I would recommend this place for a wonderful cocktail hour.

I came here after dinner with my daughter, her boyfriend and my sister in law. I too had seen this place on 'No Reservations' and was tickled to see the owner there that night. I didn't have one of their signature drinks but tasted several and wished I had. My wine was fine though. There was a jazz band playing andi really liked the atmosphere. It's a very cool and unique place.

Went with our kids who have dined here before and told us how great of a place it is. We totally agree. The service is amazing, the food is unique and fun and so tasty! We loved it and will be going back again!

The bar is beautiful and the Bartender very friendly. The drinks are stiff and well thought out. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

It’s hard to find many bars in SF that feel authenticity old, but this bar does. I had the falafel which was good along with a steam anchor beer. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the north beach area.

Think of this as 2 different places -- the hip crowded bar and the small uncrowded fabulous restaurant. The food is very creative, very good, and reasonably priced by San Francisco standards. Interesting stuff -- peaches with duck bacon, pork on biscuits (about slider size), salad with cornmeal croutons, etc. Good wine list.

Not only was there no where to sit but the staff as nearly nonexistent. There were still cocktail waitresses and servers on the floor but it took 15 minutes to order a drink, which we ended up picking up ourselves at the bar when the server was supposed to.

A friend of mine who lives in SF took us to Comstock for wine one night. What a cool place. Friendly staff, warm and cosy, with excellent live jazz. Wish I lived in SF so this could be my local!

They have really unique food - always an adventure and always good. The atmosphere is right out of the Gold Rush...really a fun place..but a bit noisy to have serious conversations with anyone.

We walked by this place on our way into North Beach, and it was always busy in the evenings. We are heading up that way for an early dinner, so we decided to stop in and enjoy their two cozy outside tables. Upon walking in we were warmly greeted by a bartender who told us Sarah would be out with menus shortly, which she did, and we had really great cocktails with delicious home-made potato chips as a snack. With an extensive drinks list, some good looking snacks, lively music, location and atmosphere, this is a good place to stop in with friends for drinks. Don't expect a quiet or romantic evening, it's not for that.

Like stepping back in time! Live music. Original cocktails. Beautiful and historic place close to Chinatown.

Wow! As we were ambling through North Beach, on our way to our favorite dive bar, we stopped to read the E. Campus Vitus plaque on the outside wall of this rather elegant building. A sandwich board on the sidewalk proclaimed free lunch with the purchase of two cocktails Then we heard Johnny Cash singing, "I Walk the Line," so we knew we had to check it out. It was Saturday and Jeff was behind the beautiful mahogany bar, nicely dressed and very professional, but also warm, funny and completely adorable. He is one of the two owners. We watched the alchemy as he carefully and expertly mixed (stirred, not shaken, James Bond notwithstanding) the best martini my husband had ever had. Plus, Jeff is only too happy to explain the elements, techniques and reasons for doing what he does, his great love for creating wonderful concoctions perfectly custom-tailored to one's individual palate. He loves to cook, too. You can tell by how he creates cocktails with the same expertise and appreciation of his creations as does a great chef with food. Once he knows your general libation preferences, the magic begins. "Make me a cocktail," is all you need to say, and he conjures it up from the spirits in each bottle, (pouring with the labels facing away from the customer). Sometimes he will flambé an orange twist, completing the Perfect drink. You are not allowed to ask the ingredients until after tasting. Then, he tells all. Bravo. We decided to stay for dinner, which is created by the Comstock's equally ingenious Louisiana chef. Our appetizers were lamb meatballs (mmmmmmmm!) and roasted Monterey Bay sardines on baguette slices. Yum! Our main courses were fabulous, too, and Jeff chose the wine, which paired perfectly with our very different food choices. And cheap, too! Kyla was our sweet, smart and attentive server whose descriptions and recommendations were spot-on. We love her, too. The prices were very fair, and the Victorian and eclectic glassware and historic decorative antiques added such Barbary coast style. By the time we left, hours after arrival, we knew that we will return whenever we are in town. Maybe we will bring pillows and blankets. Oh, and don't leave without taking a good look at the sublime barstool bases. I'm swooning. Cast aluminum ball and claw in the Deco style. The stools won't fit in my car. Other than that, we have no disappointments.

A throw back old time saloon, with great live jazz in a neat setting! It was a little loud over by the bar but there is an adjoining room that's a little quieter if you wanted to sit and have a conversation. Drinks were very good but service was a little slow. The waiters on the other hand were pretty funny in their own right and made for quite an amusing and unique evening.

I went to Comstock last December based on the good reviews I saw online and it was an awful experience. I entered through the bar area and the bartender took my order (it was steak and fries). Then I proceeded to sit at a table which happened to be very close to the kitchen. For this reason, I was able to see how the chef handled my food. Once he put the food on my plate, a few fries fell on the side and he grabbed them with his bare hands (no gloves) and put them back on the plate. Because I was starving, I did not make a scene about it. Rather, I jokingly made a comment about it to the server who brought it to me. To this he responded: “He’s a chef! He’s supposed to touch the food!” (Yes, when he’s cooking. Not after the food has been cooked and put on a plate). Again, I was very hungry; so I didn’t reply anything. I tried the steak and, even though it was tasty, it was COLD. Not warm (like after it’s been sitting on the plate for a few minutes). But COLD. When I addressed this, the same rude server said: “Well, that’s the temperature you wanted it to be cooked at!”. No, it wasn’t. And how would he know anyway? He hadn’t taken my order. I said it wasn’t (I ordered it medium well and it was medium rare). We could debate about what’s best according to one’s preference, but that’s not the point. Even if I had ordered it medium rare (which I hadn’t), it shouldn’t have been cold as if it had just been taken out of the refrigerator. The server got very upset because it was the LAST steak!!! And I was not accepting it as it was. I asked if the chef could heat it a little and the chef refused and then the server proceeded to tell me I should leave, if you can believe that! Shouldn’t I had been upset instead?! I was more patient than anyone would be under the circumstances and this is what I got. Do yourself a favor and choose any other restaurant. Even one picked at random would have more professional staff. And let’s not forget food safety! Ignorance isn’t always bliss…

I'd been before, but was again delighted with the drinks and food, along with a welcoming atmosphere that is neither dive bar nor trying too hard.

We happened upon this delightful and traditional Bar by pure chance and it made our day. The cocktails we great and well crafted by knowledgeable staff - put your trust in them for a personally created drink. We glanced at the dinner menu and decided to eat there. The food was well prepared and very tasty.

We sat at the bar and asked the bartender to make us a drink off menu. He asked for likes and dislikes and nailed it. Will revisit again

What a great bar, we'd been driving all day when we found it and stayed there all night! Amazing staff, décor and atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit!

Wow what a find this place was - we were passing by and decided to try it out - stayed for hours and sampled many cocktails, all of them delicious!! The service was great plus they also had live music - when I return to the area this will be one of the first places I visit!!

We did the tasting menu here. For $80 it was definitely worth the price for a special occasion. The food was great, there was definitely enough food and the chef even came out to talk about the dishes we were having. The atmosphere was good, the live music was nice and not too loud. Overall a super experience.

We loved this spot for lunch and a few drinks! Very friendly and quick service from Cassidy! Would love if they had TVs in the bar to watch a game... such a comfortable setting. We will return next time in San Francisco.

Went for something to eat and a drink, booked a table in advance (would recommend this, it was busy), food, service and beers very good, a nice option. Had calamari and a burger really nice would recommend this place. Prices not too bad $10 for a cocktail, $6 for a beer, Burger $17.

We went for one cocktail and loved it so much for stayed for another! Order from their fabulous cocktail menu, or leave it to the bartender, then sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. If you're lucky - as we were - someone will take a seat at the piano and provide some soulful tunes.

Someone needs to tell the staff they work in the hospitality industry. The drinks aren't good enough to carry the whole place. Walk a couple of block to Devil's Acre if you want a great drink and great service.

The Comstock is a cool old bar that is close to the Financial District in San Francisco. We were there to celebrate my sister-in-law getting engaged, the prices are pretty high, and the service was pretty bad. We sat at a table and never had anyone come to take our order, so we had to go to the bar to order, and the bar tender was very rude to my wife and sister-in-law, if it had been me, we probably would have walked out, they are a little more patient than me. I would suggest checking it out, maybe have one drink and move on.

This has always been one of my favorite bars in the city - they make the best Manhattan I have ever had. But recently, they have been stepping up their food game big time, and this week I got to try their new tasting menu - 8 courses for $55, and it includes two (half-sized) cocktails? Sign me up! The dishes were all beautifully presented, flavorful and creative, and made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The chef personally served and introduced each dish, and his servers kept our water glasses full and our table swept clean in between. Everything from the first course (A tater tot topped with caviar on a potato chip? YES) to the last (Basically an oversized Ferrero Rocher) was amazing. We even left with a to-go coffee cake! Aside from this fabulous meal, I can vouch that this is a fantastic, classic spot for a cocktail. It is very "San Francisco" without being overly tacky or touristy (But definitely bring your out of town guests here!)

Much hasn't changed at the Comstock... The antique bar from London and the cool pulley fan system makes you feel like it's the late 19th/early 20th century. Try the cherry bomb cocktail, which is uniquely San Franciscan. Also try the pisco punch. The mussels and frites were fantastic.

Fabulous spot to meet for cocktails--if you're in the mood, let the bartender create one for you. The food menu is small; I've had a late night/afternoon bite there.

There were 8 of us just hooking up for drinks before all going off in different directions for dinner. Michael was a very accomodating waiter. He suggested a few cocktails to try and we did. The "shitgun wedding" was a fantastic choice.....a great location and a lot of fun.

Comstock has the feel of a neighborhood bar with the throw back appeal of California's Gold Rush era. The drinks are creative and well done, sitting at the bar is so much fun. The bartenders are amazing and add enjoyment to an already fun experience. We have been a few times and are never disappointed. Seating is limited but it's worth the wait. The also take reservations so take advantage of that! You are guaranteed to enjoy your experience!

I'd highly recommend this bar for anyone looking for a bar that truly focuses on top quality drinks and service. We spent a few hours there served by Claire tasting some of the best cocktails we've ever had. If you've been to Sydney and tried Baxters this is up there for service and the drinks!! Great music too with the live jazz band!! Get there!! It's much better than Bourbon & Branch and Devil's Acre!

Comstock is a fabulous place with a really great feel. The server was great, and a bit of a character, which we loved. The food was really tasty, although the ration of portion size for price was disappointing. Overall, I would recommend it, but just go with more cash or after having a snack.

After reading reviews on TA, we decided to visit. Jonny was the most knowledgeble and gracious bartenders we have ever come across. The featured shot/brew was Four Roses bourbon and Anchor Steam. He had a book on Four Roses which was really interesting. We returned for a final visit at the end of our trip, and he was just as wonderful.

We stopped in on a rainy night to catch a drink, great atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great bar in SF.

Easy to find, comfortable to be at. Locals and tourists alike enjoy this fine saloon. The Scoff Law has been resurrected in fine fashion here. Appies were delicious. Atmosphere was fun. Service was top notch. Thanks Katie for your attention to detail.

We loved it last year and came back on this year's visit. The cocktails are amazing and the staff is wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. Great little place.

Love the drinks, the view and the COCKTAILS!!!! Great Staff and great drinks. The Bartenders are ROCK-STARS! Tip them well and you never have to wait!

Inventive cocktails, live jazz, and a beautiful historic building. We stopped by for a cocktail and the menu was so interesting I had a hard time choosing. So I went with my old standby the Manhattan. It was perfect. We enjoyed the jazz. The space is small and it got crowded as the evening wore on.

We stopped for a lunch on our back from Coit Tower. The place has historic feel. We really didn't plan on having drinks, but when we saw the drinks menu, we decide to try some cocktails. They were tasty and old school. Also oysters were really fresh. Gnocchi with peas were soft, melted in your mouth. Costed us around 60 dollars, but worth it.

Classier than an average bar but nothing real special. Very limited seating & limited dessert menu. Service was okay. Drinks did seem on the strong side which is always a plus!!!

Beautiful bar, great drinks even better service! I love their Pimm's Cup and the vintage fan above the bar. This is my go to bar when I'm in the neighborhood. Their house potato chips are the perfect food for snacking. Sometimes you can even catch great live jazz.

The interior was rather classy and old school. I felt like I jumped back in time. The drinks were OK and the service so-so. It was a little slow when we went so I am sure it is more "happening" in the evenings.

If the cocktails and food aren't enough to convince you to go here, then maybe the jazz pianist is. The performer can vary by the night, but there is a female singer/pianist who regularly plays here and is terrific. The piano is up on the mezzanine at the back of the bar. Slowly turning fans fill the ceiling of this charming wood-paneled bar. Lots of interesting cocktails on the menu, or custom made by the bartender. On a Sunday night it was not crowded, though I can't figure why. Try the mushroom pot pie (6 kinds of mushrooms), and the bourbon custard dessert concoction, both fabulous. What a chef! Wish I lived next door.

We were fortunate to go to Comstock Saloon for lunch while in the city for the holidays. What a great place, we sat at the bar (smaller of the two bars) and enjoyed the company of a new bartender (sorry, cant recall her name), she was extremely nice and made some awesome drinks (we suggest the Cherry Bounce). They had a great deal that we were not aware of which included a free lunch w/the purchase of two adult beverages..it seemed we were the only ones not aware of this deal as the place was packed within 30 min of opening. We enjoyed our lunch a drinks and look forward to coming back on our next visit to SFO. Fun place!

Just fantastic food and great service. We had brunch and it was pretty amazing. Try anything on the menu and you will be pleased. Really good pot coffee too!

Stopped in w/ our son to celebrate a job offer! Historic bar, w/ many cocktails to choose from. Manhattans were perfectly prepared. However, bartender not very friendly. Lamb meatballs tasty, served w/ nice side of toast.

Stopped by here today just by chance while walking in San Francisco. Ashley was the bartender and we sat at the bar. Great service. I Had the Croque Madame & my friend had the Shakshuka for lunch. Both were great. I had white wine & my friend had the drink Breakfast-of Champions. A great time had by all.

Dropped in for a couple of drinks and really enjoyed it...staff was very pleasant and provided us with a couple of excellent tips on where to go in their city. Great atmosphere... everything a bar should be Had the chicken liver dish and it was fantastic... loved it. Only complaints is the absence of taps but not a problem as there was a good selection of bottled beer and the cocktails are very good.

We popped into the Comstock for a few cocktails. The place was charming, the service friendly and the cocktails right on point. Absolutely loved the option to have the bartender choice. Had a few really delicious cocktails. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go there again.

Great bar, great drinks and great service. A little disappointed they could not do me a white Russian though.

Lovely atmosphere. Very historic. The waiter was a delight (although the place was clearly understaffed the night we were there and so we had to wait a few times). The food was delicious although there wasn’t a big menu. One vegetarian at the table and she raved about the burger. Interesting cocktails available. The jazz was lovely. Happy to tip the band.

Great atmosphere to enjoy one of the famous Comstock Saloon's specialty cocktails! My wife and I stopped by for a drink after finishing a San Fransisco foot tour in North beach and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly, prompt service, intimate small tables hidden around the bar to have a conversation and the quality of the cocktails.

Service was great. Atmosphere was great. Cocktails were brilliant. Lovely bar with great ambience. Would definitely go back.

We stumbled into the Comstock after dinner around the corner, we just wanted a spot to have some drinks and wind down. This place was perfect, the inside is really nice, a live band was playing - the staff was fantastic, the drinks were great. I even opted for an amazing bourbon pudding for dessert that really hit the spot. It has an old time saloon/present day bar feel that makes it very unique.

We came here for the Pisco Punch after my friend saw something on a show month's prior and knew we would be visiting the area on our girls trip. When we arrived, the place was really busy but as fate would have it, there were three bar stools (and three of us) along the wall near the entrance. We sat, and we ordered our Pisco Punch. YUM. We each had 2, okay and some water. We were well taken care of by 2 different gentleman, one who seemed to be manning on of the bars and the other who was ensuring the patrons were being taken care of. We had already eaten, so dinner was not an interest however my one friend ordered some dates wrapped in bacon which she said were divine. I did not want to ruin my Pisco Punch experience, which Comstock ensured was excellent.

We happened in here and they had some great live jazz music. Good food; although the menu is limited. Great wine selection and cocktails.

We randomly stumbled upon this place on our first night in San Francisco, tired and jetlagged we were looking for a place to have a couple of drinks. It looked interesting from the outside, like some 19th century saloon, beautifully retro. We ended up staying all night, the bar staff were so friendly and amazingly skilled, we took a couple of seats at the bar and soon sparked up conversation with the locals. The bar snacks were amazing too - check out the 'Pig in a biscuit'! Soon enough some live music kicked off, but not in an overbearing way, a saloon pianist on a top balcony playing jazzy numbers. It was the perfect start to a holiday, a fine cocktail list and great beers on tap.

After a long day walking the city all we wanted was a good burger and a beer/wine. Upon entering Comstock it was clear they would deliver on the drinks, it's a cool venue- bustling on a Saturday night with a band playing in the mezzanine. Felt more like a bar than a restaurant. There were some people eating and thankfully we didn't have to wait long for a table. We knew we wanted the burger each, we had read good things about it (rest of the menu did sound appealing though). Wings to start which were good, although could have been a bit more tender and juicy with more of a chilli kick. Burger was very tasty. Cooked medium as requested with a Comte cheese mix on top. Excellent crisp fries but way too many for me. I ate half (and I was hungry). Would go back for cocktails another time.

A great bar in North beach. Fantastic cocktails, good food and music. A lively and friendly bar for evening drinks

Had a fantastic time at the Comstock, we were made to feel instantly welcome, ushered into our own booth that had been marked as reserved (we hadn't made a booking). The staff were attentive and friendly, a good list of wines, beer and cocktails, happy hour options, the food sensational (try the octopus and the chicken roulade), and the music just our speed - a mix of vintage jazz, Johnny Cash, rockabilly etc. A live jazz band played from the balcony to add some extra jump and joy to the evening. Celebrity factoid - world champion boxer Jack Dempsey used to be security at this juke joint back in the day. The bar features some press clippings and photographs throughout.

Charm and charming, what a great place for a drink! The bartender/Mixologist Jacob was the best... great drink and fabulous atmosphere!

It’s hard to find a kitchen open at 10pm let alone one that serves good food and has live music. Service was friendly and attentive. Felt very welcome.

This bar manages to feel authentically old fashioned yet still have a cool vibe and modern twist. As others have mentioned, the bartenders steal the show. Not only do they make great cocktails, but they are quite entertaining and funny. We wandered in knowing nothing about it - simply because we heard live jazz as we were walking by. So glad we did. I don't usually get all that excited about a bar, but Comstock Saloon is an unusually cool, fun place.

We were looking for a place to have a drink, maybe grab a bite and hear a little music. This was perfect. Live jazz on the upper floor, great ambiance, excellent cocktails and decent food for a saloon this place was a highlight on our trip. Staff was very polite and efficient, the old school decor made it memorable, and the food and drinks were up to its level. Location was very convenient and as a whole it made a great experience. Recommended!

Went there for drinks before dinner. Place is historic, lots of great wood and decor, drinks were reasonable. Would love to stop back for dinner there sometime. :Lots of history here worth checking out. Staff was great, happy to help us with whatever we wanted.

While staying in SF we came here three nights in a row for after-dinner cocktails. Drinks are delicious and thoughtful - we enjoyed ordering the Barkeeper's Whimsy and having some cocktails we wouldn't have otherwise ordered ourselves. Jazz band up in the balcony creates a really nice atmosphere. Service is friendly and attentive and bartenders clearly know their stuff. We would definitely return or recommend to friends.

This place looks the part - awesome old bar, odd and unique decor, great tile along with a mustachioed bartender making sophisticated cocktails. Service was a little hit and miss, but everyone was super friendly and we enjoyed some very nice shishito peppers.

Without a doubt, my favorite bar on SF. Classy. Relaxed. Great cocktails. Amazing staff. Cool history. Live music. Easy to find right on the border of Chinatown. Please stop back in time!

This will be an absolute must when I visit the city next. The bar itself is awesome, they had live music and its decor is excellent. The drinks were perfectly mixed and taste amazing. The food is more like tapas with many smaller plates, I had the olives, eggson eggs and the burger. Everything taste great and the burger was the best tasting one I have ever had.

After hearing my tour guide recommend Comstock for a craft cocktail I worked it into our schedule. And it was worth it. The atmosphere was great- if i had to do it over again I would sit in the room with the old school paddle fans above as the other room was a bit chilly. The craft cocktail menu was extensive- I did not have food in mind although the kitchen was raring to go at our visit. If you love craft cocktails you should make a stop in.

This was a bar that was trying very hard to have a hip vibe. It was warmly decorated inside with decent people watching views. The bartender was challenged to make us drinks with gin without making them the same. My friend wanted citrus notes and I wanted herbal notes. Both drinks were made with flair and tasted great. It's nice not to have to rely on a bar menu.

Unfortunately myself and my friends were left very disappointed by this place. I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu which was the burger and fries ($14) which was actually pretty good but my friends ordered the 'bucket of shrimp' with cocktail sauce - when it came out it was a bucket of ice with six prawns in it - yes, six prawns! The 'cocktail' sauce was actually tomato ketchup - the waiters didn't really seem to know the menu as they didn't know the difference between cocktail sauce and ketchup and they didn't suggest or tel us that the bucket of shrimp would probably require a side. The steak was terribly seasoned and again, came with no sides and was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. It took a long time to get our drinks and to order our food and it was quite pricey for the quality, very odd lack of consistency in the pricing and portion sizes! Disappointing overall.

We’ve been to the Comstock Saloon many times and always ensure we make it on each trip to San Francisco. Each drink is historic and relevant to many amazing stories. The structure and ambiance makes you feel as though you’ve taken a step back in time. The bartenders are a thrill to watch and a joy to speak with. Highly recommended.

We chose they place for Saturday Brunch because it kept popping up on every list I googled! The food was very good. I got the croque madame and it was delightful. Everyone enjoyed their food. The service was very good. They atmosphere was not quite what I expected, but I'm sure it would be a fun place at night for drinks!

We were walking down Columbus Ave and noticed this pub. They were serving raw oysters as a fundraiser for an oyster farm at Reyes Point. The staff was great, very friendly. This is a classic turn of the century bar atmosphere with good food, wonderful live music and the oyster were fabulous. We would definitely come back here.

I've been here so many times and never written a review, but I can only comment on the cocktails, as I've only eaten oysters, a shrimp cocktail and a meatball. This is my favorite cocktail lounge, serving my favorite cocktail, the Martinez. The cocktail menu is extensive, and the bartenders all knowledgeable on the menu and on other drinks they can prepare based on your tastes and preferences. This place has atmosphere and style, of the old-fashioned kind (I'm sure they make a good one of those too). The food menu is limited. If you're looking for a full dinner, they didn't seem to have it.

I can't recall a more unfortunate dining experience. I ordered steamed mussels, which were dry and tasteless. There was no broth to speak.of. My wife ordered steak-frites that was small and bland. She asked for bread, always good in San Francisco, and after 20 minutes was served friend white bread. I ordered some oysters on the half-shell and asked about them as our meal drew to a close. They had forgotten the order. They apologized for the mess-up and removed the price of a beer from the final tab. Maybe a bad night given the reviews i have read, but this was ten steps below Denny's. The night was salvaged by visiting City Lights bookstore a few doors down Columbus.

If you want a fun place to watch the game or listen to jazz while enjoying good beers, wine, or cocktails while in North beach area of San Francisco, CA, this is your place. Great location and upstairs area is great for people watching. Food is good and great bar scene later at night.

Went to this bar because of an article in GQ and almost left because it was so packed and there was no space. We are glad we stuck it out, the bartenders whimsy(which means you leave it up to the bartender to come up with a creative concoction , they will only ask your choice between gin, whiskey or tequila) is worth the trip alone. All in all a great atmosphere with amazing drinks. There was a jazz band providing live music which were told is not all the time, so make sure to check it out when that's going on. Lots of locals, so not a typical tourist trap!

The drinks were perfectly made, food was delicious and the waiter was super friendly and informative! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone in San Francisco!

Very cool place. Has the old-fashioned speakeasy feel you would expect. Drinks are pricey but aren't outrageous, and they're really good. The bartenders are fun to talk to. Make sure to ask about the history behind the place if you want a good story.

This is the kind of bar you wished was your local. We spent the best evening of our trip to San Francisco at the Comstock Saloon. It's got real history - a genuine Barbary Coast tavern, and tremendous atmosphere. You really do feel you are back in the 1880s, with the decor, the service and the style. The cocktails are authentic classics - Sazerac, Martinez, Blood & Sand. The service is attentive and friendly. The food is traditional and reminds you how good traditional bar food can be. No theme park, this is the real thing.

If you are looking for a hang out with friends and no food expectations, this is it. If you are looking for anything else - go there. We met niece and partner for drinks and possibly dinner. Foo foo drinks were interesting but not my cup of alcohol. Menu was not even bar menu. Really tiny and really average but expensive. This is not a food place. We had fun, good service, decent bar prices for regular drinks. In a good location.

Comstock is serious about their cocktails and serious about lunch on Friday! Two drinks earn you a free lunch - and not some paltry burger and fries! Chef Julian is a talented man and keeps it interesting every week. Jonny and the bar staff are attentive and professional. There's a good mix of locals and tourists too. Kids are welcome for lunch (but not for drinks!)

Jeff, the owner, was our bartender and was also featured on the Bourdain show Layover. I felt as confident in asking him to make me something as he was in making it. After telling him what flavors I liked, he spent the next 10 minutes devoted to crafting our perfect cocktail. (a different one for the girl) Top notch hooch, not to be missed!

The Comstock Saloon is an old favorite in San Francisco. In town for a business meeting, drove up from the airport (30 minutes), found a place to park around the corner (not easy, but free after 6 PM), and enjoyed 3 great drinks and an excellent snack (fried brussels sprouts & a salad) at the old wooden bar. The bartender was knowledgeable and personable, and he expertly prepared a Martinez, a Blood & Sand, a Fitzgerald, and one of his own creations. The drinks menu emphasizes the classics. Live music and an interesting clientele. Altogether highly recommended.

We stopped in on the smaller bar on the right hand side on two of our four nights in San Francisco. Once for a cocktail before dinner and the other for a late nightcap. Our bartender John was great and after a couple of Jenevers, we moved to Absinthe. Great experience and will return for sure.

We decided to visit Comstock after reading online reviews and we were not disappointed. We did not have a reservation and arrived around 7:30, which was a busy time, but the bartender seated us in the "parlor" which was a wonderfully unique experience. It was an intimate dining experience while still offering views of the bar as a whole. The food and drinks were fantastic. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the San Francisco area.

Fantastic ambiance and cool old school historic type bar with very professional bartenders that take pride in their craft. The drink menu is outstanding and the quality of drinks and service was impeccable. Cool location on edge of Chinatown and North Beach too. Mixed drinks seem expensive on first blush, but actually are good value to us Canucks when you consider that most of them have 3 to 5 shots of liquor in them. Will definitely return next time I'm in San Francisco. A definite classic.

We were recently in SF for the day. We found ourselves on the way to North Beach and remembered seeing Comstock Saloon on Anthony Bourdain's Layover SF. So we decided to give it a shot, or 2..... Authentic bar with nicely refurbished wooden accents and features. Old school bartenders with bow ties and ties. Al of our drinks were chilled in old beakers from high school days. I had a Makers Mark Manhattan on the rocks and it was awesome. Really liked the fact that this is location is the second oldest continuously run bar location. At least that is what I was told by an old patron at the bar.

A friend and I decided on a whim to get drinks at Comstock Saloon on a busy Friday night. Though the place was packed, we were immediately approached by the host and got seated right away. The interior of the bar is classic San Francisco - there’s a sort of gold rush era feel to the design. Most importantly the drinks were top notch. I had the Zeinie Cocktail with Cognac, pineapple gum, lime, maraschino liqueur, and Angostura. Ok, I had three but it was that good. On the appetizer menu, I had the marinated green olives (slightly warmed) and the cheese plate. Also, excellent choices. I will definitely come back and try the dinner menu.

This is quintessential San Francisco. The building is old, the furnishings are period statements. The service was great, the drinks plentiful and reasonably priced.

Bartenders here are amazing, they really know how to make a cocktail - lots of fresh ingredients, bitters, the best! And they're all served in a fun and friendly atmosphere with jazz music and a great old San Francisco feel. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the North Beach-Broadway area.

Good food, excellent drinks. Live music. Also Oysters were very good. Friendly staff. Will come back again when visiting SF.

Stopped in for a Manhattan and were very pleased. It is obvious that they take great pride in their drinks. Atmosphere is like taking a trip back in time. We didn't eat, but would definitely recommend for a cocktail.

Cool spot among the old and more unusual places along this stretch of Broadway and Columbus. People dress nicely here and enjoy the music and the basic food.

Comstock is the oldest Barbary Coast bar in SF. Bartender Jeff delivers superb cocktails. The Main Bar, which was featured on Esquire Best Bars, opens at 4PM. I had the Martinez and Pico - both of which were excellent.

I'll state my bias up front, I live in the neighborhood & this is my favorite bar. The food is good but the cocktails are excellent. This bar has some of the best bartenders in San Francisco and they can make you just about anything. I say "just about", because they do not stock supplies for club drinks like Appletini's & Jello shots. The focus is on classic cocktails, so if you try one from the menu or have the bartender's whimsy- you won't be disappointed. This is a place geared towards adults, so I would leave the kids at home if it's after lunch time.

This is one of the oldest bars in San Francisco, with its original back bar and a unique rod and leaf ceiling fan from around 1915. Two of the happy hour drink specials featured hard to find Dutch genever. The entree selection was limited to three, more appetizers and desserts. We enjoyed fat burgers cooked to order and dressed with trimmings, but the fries were lackluster. Live jazz or blues starts up between 7:30 and 8, and our musician friend, who is a regular, vouched for its consistent quality. Great vibe and ambiance!

Was in the Italian neighborhood and decided to see if Zach was working at the bar last night at Comstock. Luckily he was and we were able to get seats at the bar. We ordered an old fashioned and I ordered my favorite/usual amaretto sour . I must say every time I order that drink, it doesn't matter who makes it. They're pretty consistent . My second drink was a Pisco sour. Love that drink too. For dessert, we had the bourbon pudding. First time for us to try this. Surprisingly it was very good . It only had a hint of bourbon .

Comstock is clearly one of the best places in SF to get craft cocktails. Their attention to detail and love for craftsmanship when it comes to their cocktails is easily apparent when you order something fun from their list. Or ask the bartender to fix you up something based on what you're feeling--they'll ask you what type of spirit you want and what sort of flavor you are looking for and they'll whip up something fun for you. The food is pretty good too. I stop here almost every time I'm in the City. Definitely recommend.

Comstock has a great atmosphere. The drinks are a little over-priced, but the service is good. I've only had the burger here, but it's delicious, especially with the pimento cheese on top. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a drink in the neighborhood.

Stopped by with co-workers while in SF for business. Very intriguing and interesting menu. We ended up getting lots of dishes to share. Food was all good, but definitely get the white cheddar chexx and a Comstock burger or two to share. Also had the 4 Roses ribs and Lo-mein. Overall great and unique food.

We did not try the restaurant and only had cocktails but we were amazed by the place. The atmosphere recalls an end 1800 saloon but with a very modern and up to date twist. Every detail was taken care of and was taken from that period: from the air circulating system hanging on the sealing to the sofas and chairs around a cheminee to the music which is live but soft and performed, on a balcony, by 3 musicians. I think you could say that we saw many fancy, trendy or famous places around the world but this one is definetly something new. On the top of that cocktails were very well executed.

We went by and saw this place from outside and we just had to go in and get a drink. We DIDNT regret it at all! One of the best cocktails I've ever had. The bartender Seth told us there where free lunch the day after if you bought 2 drinks or beer, so we went back for lunch the next day. But the prix fix menu sounded soo much better than the free lunch and it was! It was a foodgasm in your mouth follow by a fantastic cocktail. I can really recommend it :)

This place is in the heart of San Francisco. Excellent drinks and service. In the middle of the hustle and bustle of all the trendy places. Near the Wharf and Little Italy. When I am in town I make this a must visit place. Free lunch Friday os off the hook with two amazing cocktails. Must see when you visit SF

Stopped here for happy hour and loved it. Delicious cocktails at a good corner spot with a great view. Nice food options as well.

Met some friends for dinner on a recent trip to SF. Four of us sat at a booth along the wall. Seating was very comfortable. Very happy with the quality and preparation of our meal. Would recommend to anyone. Only knock is that it was a little noisy. It is a saloon afterall.

Drinks are awesome and the bar staff knows their wares. Food is standard pub food, but heard they have a new kitchen so will revisit and try it again.

Make a reservation if you want dinner and be prepared to be transported back to the gold rush era. The place is small and dark with a small limited menu but everything we had was great. The pretzels were fresh and tasty. The cod po'boy was delicious and the roasted chicken was very flavorful. The bean soup was hearty and filling. It's loud and music is playing saloon style in the background. Our biggest treat was the can can dancer who showed up and did some very sexy strip tease dancing. Would have been a real hoot and holler if we didn't have our two teenagers with us who got a kick out of seeing the lady's rear in a thong. The drinks are strong so worth the cost. There is a parking garage across the street that on a Friday night was empty.

Great atmosphere! Great cocktails. Really nice service. Be sure to take the homemade potato chips (crisps) and fries, because they are the best you'll ever have. No rushing in this place, if you get a booth than enjoy the rest of the evening, no one will come around to push the check

An good place for a pick me up cocktail after the bustle of China town. Friendly staff, good drinks, lovely historic touches.

Popped in after a long day of walking and sat at the bar. Cocktails looked great but I am not a cocktail guy so I had a few beers. Bartender and I had a nice chat, he was really nice and definitely knew what he was doing mixing wise from what I saw. The bar itself has an old style interior which makes it that much better. If I lived in San Francisco my face would be here more often.

We stopped in for after dinner drinks and it was a good choice. We sat at the "back bar" where we were entertained by a piano player & singer (one person),. The drinks were well made and the atmosphere enjoyable. Most of the patrons seemed to be from the surrounding blocks. The bar staff had a slight air about them that detracted from the experience but they warmed up after round one. I guess they get a lot of turnover traffic.

My wife and I stopped back for a 2nd time to this establishment on a Monday night. What bar normally has a great Jazz Music going on a Monday night? This one does. We were pleasantly surprised to see that and really enjoyed our cocktails listening to great music in a place that makes you feel like you are in a Speakeasy.

It was a quiet night and we bellied up to the bar and Kenny mixed up a delicious custom drink, unofficially called the Minnesota Sunrise or Marge. Ask for it!

An unpretentious watering hole with old time saloon feel. Menu is limited but everything we tried was very good. Chips, burgers, calamari and more served by a good staff and bartenders who are true mixologists. Overall atmosphere would satisfy hipsters without putting off the older crowd. We dropped in because of the jazz heard from the street with a thought of a quick listen and a drink or two and stayed through both sets. We were so impressed we returned two nights later for dinner and more jazz. Located at the edge of Little Italy the location is perfect.

We came in on a Wednesday night after dinner. There was a jazz band playing in an alcove on the 2nd floor. We got a table on the other side which was quieter and not as warm. They have a cocktail menu and the server was happy to answer our questions.

Great local bar. Perfect Martinis at the bar, great service, good food, Iive music, a perfect last night in the City

A nice local bar for craft cocktails. Service was pleasant. The mint julep tasty. Worth a visit if looking for a bar in the neighborhood.

Arrived 6:00 pm-ish Friday night, happy hour, they immediately found me a table and there was a nice transition into evening dinner service. Great live jazz by the Jay Sanders Quartet. Excellent meal and wine service. Just a few options for vegetarians but very well done. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town.
Great atmosphere for a midweek drink
We just dropped in for a drink and ended up staying for a couple of hours. Staff are really good. The right combination of attitude, competence and conversation to make it really entertaining to sit at the bar. It's noisy and fun. Highly recommended.
