I guess when you eat a lot of chicken it starts to taste the same no matter how you cook it. This place has a good choice of sides, the chicken is always fresh, but the Cobbler will keep you coming back. Whether you choose peach or blackbery you are in for a treat! Get ice cream ready.

Great food! Even my picky niece at the food and wanted more! The flavors are great and never have to wait long.

The rotisserie chicken is always something special. The sides are an added bonus. The staff is friendly and helpful. We've never been disappointed.

The food is good...., when you finally get it. It is not a fast food joint for sure. Do not come here hungry. You will be starving by the time you get your order.

A friend recommended this place a couple of years ago, but getting there off Greenville Avenue is a chore, so it just didn't happen until yesterday. Mom, can I do some more chores? Once inside, my wife had to go stake out a table while I waited in line and placed the order (2 Wednesday lunch specials) got the drinks filled and grabbed utensils, napkins, etc. Another bit of a chore, navigating between closed-spaced tables. Aww, c'mon -- just one more chore? Yeah, it was well worth the effort. Imagine those rotisserie chickens you get at the grocery store, only the chickens wanted to die for your meal, and they just came off the spit 30 seconds ago. Tender, juicy chicken with less seasoning than your regular take-home bird, accompanied by first-rate side dishes (the mac and cheese is sprinkled with parmesan, the black eyed peas cooked with pimiento.) The employees all seem to enjoy working there -- maybe they have good parking spaces -- but I would happily wash dishes for awhile to get another meal this good. And getting out of the parking place is made easier by the fact that someone is waiting for it.

(508 W. Hwy 77, Waxahachie, TX) This restaurant has only been open for about a week or so and I think it will get better as it settles in and irons out the little inconsistencies. We went Sunday, the 8th. The restaurant is in a corner location, flooded with light. The view is nothing to write home about as it faces the busy Hwy 77 which goes through the city. The interior is the current style of choice with a stone floor, plain tables and chairs. We arrived a little after the church crowd but it was still busy. We were able to order quickly. From the order to the end of the meal, service was good, at times a little too much so. We were asked if everything was okay about 4 times during the meal. The chicken is cooked on a wood fire rotisserie, which is visible to the public. They also grill chicken. You can chose from whole chickens, half chickens, quarter chickens, chicken sandwiches, salads, enchiladas. Lots of things to chose from. There are 17 sides to chose from, and cobbler, ice cream, brownies and cookies. The Razzleberry tea is great! My husband ordered a 3 piece, dark meat plate with 2 sides. He chose kettle chips and ranchero beans and I ordered a 2 piece, dark with the chips and a small salad. We both had a roll also. Everything was served in plain, shiny pie tins. The chicken is to die for!! Wonderful smoky flavor, tender and moist. BUT they use very small chickens. My husband is a big guy and he said he could have eaten a whole chicken, as small as they are. We both had the kettle chips and must have had them from two different batches as his were crisp and mine were soggy with oil. It was busy and I think they just got in a hurry. My husbands beans didn't come with the order and the young man rushed back to get them. Hubby said they were delicious but there were exactly 4 spoons of beans. Rather small portion. And the rolls...well they seemed to have come from 2 different batches also. Hubby's was nicely browned on the top and he really liked it. Mine was not cooked enough and almost doughy in texture. Most of the meals are around $9 to $10 dollars, including a drink. Prices vary according to number of sides and/or if you have dessert. Not unreasonably priced but the sides could be a little larger. We have owned several of our own restaurants over the years and know the effort and time that goes into running a restaurant. We were reasonable pleased and will try Cowboy Chicken again in a month or so. I liked the restaurant and the employees were motivated to make you experience a pleasant one. They appeared to be, for the most part, high school or college students. Unfailingly polite and cordial. That's nice considering so many place these days have staff that is either on their phone or outside taking a break. I do recommend Cowboy Chicken. Let them smooth the rough edges down and settle into a routine and I bet this will become a Waxahachie favorite.

You might even miss this restaurant while you travel on Preston Road as it sits in the very far back of a strip shopping center and is actually a little hard to see from Preston unless you are specifically looking for the location. One inside you will smell freshly roasted chicken and once you taste it you will more than likely agree this is some of the most moist, tender and best cooked chicken around. This is nto a fancy place, just a good chicken eating place. I have noted in recent years there have been other Cowboy Chicken locations added to the area. The veggies are pretty good as well.

ordered a sandwich and found little bones in the chicken. Be carefull. Chicken was good and fresh but nothing special.

The chicken at Cowboy Chicken is unreal. They cook it on a wood fire rotisserie right in the front of the store and it gets a nice crispiness on the skin while staying juicy inside and getting a real good wood and smoke flavor. The veggies are all good, the twice baked potatoes also really good. The best thing there are the chicken enchiladas, these are made with big pieces of the rotisserie chicken in corn tortillas in a green tomatillo based sauce. These enchiladas are so addicting you will want them everyday of the week. I have been eating here since I was a kid and would say it has to be one of my favorite restaurants anywhere in the world. I also visit their Greenville Ave and Hebron/Midway stores quite often.

You will love this place. Great rotisserie served a delicious variety of ways. Nothing fancy. Quick service. Great prices.

We had had a crappy lunch at another place and were looking forward to some good food for supper. We found it. The chicken was fresh and tasty and the sides were large and satisfying. I definitely would go to a Cowboy Chicken again.

Have been few times enjoyed the smoky taste of the chicken moist and favorable sides are pretty good prices are a little higher but wealth it will keep going becAuse better than the other place

Okay, I normally love this place but not today. Went to lunch, got a a meal to go, not only did they miss a side but the chicken was colder than usual, maybe cuz I took a late lunch. Sad part, last time they messed up my order the manager comp'd me the whole meal and told me it was the least they could do,\ today, I spoke to 3 people, the 3rd told me a gm is the only one that can refund, so am I like why don't they transfer me to her to begin with?? They said I can back and pick up the side or refund me just the side? Seriouslly? come back for side? Very different customer experience than I'm used to at this place. Not sure if it's a new staff. Sad cuz the food is good but they ruined the experience for me today. They couldn't even properly apologize. (They don't care) Pro Customer Tip - If you mess up an order (especially a to-go / delivery order) Comp the customer what they ordered. It will come back 10 fold in recommendations, reviews and repeat business.

We always make our friends take us to Cowboy Chicken when we visit Dallas. It doesn't matter which location we go to - the food is always delicious! My favorite is the chicken enchilada plate. OMG - the sauce they put on this is SOOO good. Favorite sides are the fried okra, sweet potato, and pinto beans. The service is always quick, the food is always perfect. Great value!

We live close by and I pick up to go for dinner probably 3-4 times a month. I always get the family packs. I've been eating Cowboy Chicken since it first opened off of Park Lane by the original owners. My mom would bring it home for dinner. I was told the original owners were closing the business and a really smart wonderful person liked Cowboy Chicken very much and bought the business. Now there are many location for us to enjoy. I would like to thank the owners for never changing the recipes! Love the chicken, the best potatoes and peach cobbler ever! ❤❤❤

Not sure what the hooplah is around this place. It was basically a rotisserie chicken similar to any grocery store, cut up into pieces. Side dishes were blah. Some kind of cheesy potato and some other cheesy dish and some fresh green beans. Green beans were tasty, but cold (not their fault). This was a catered lunch at a business office with no way to keep things hot (no chafing dishes). The business uses them all the time and RAVES about how good it is. Not sure why. It was very ordinary in my opinion.

Their chicken is scrawny and dry. You have to add their hot sauce to get any flavor. The sides are good though. I haven't tried the brisket, but I suspect it is dry too.

First time here on the recommendation of a friend. Friendly greeting as soon as I walked in. I placed an order for a half chicken and was told I could get 2 sides included. The order was a take out, but there is seating inside. The chicken was excellent-juicy & tender. I chose the green bean and the mac & cheeses for my sides. They were done perfectly. Lots of bubbly cheese and the beans were plump and just right. They make their own sauces in house and we tried both the sweet BBQ & the hotter version-excellent. Total bill was $10& change & well worth it. We will definitely return.

The chicken was too smokey and salty. I did not enjoy it. My husband had a chicken sandwich which he stated that he enjoyed.

We eat here regularly and find the roasted chicken and chicken enchildas consistent and the salads loaded with vegetables...not just a lot of lettuce. So healthy and tasty! Also the cost is very reasonable for the fresh value you receive. We noticed recently that they deliver in the surrounding area and were so excited on the nights you are just too tired to cook or even go out! We frequently go to the one on Greenville Ave. but all locations are consistent. Delivery area depends on the specific store so call ahead to see if they deliver to your neighborhood then you know the drill!!

The chicken here is probably the best rotisserie chicken I’ve had. The service is great too which is a bonus!

We went to the location in Dallas on Greenville Ave just north of Lovers lane. These people know what they are doing. Excellent homestyle vegetables and wood fire roasted chicken. Lots of choices and they even have chicken enchiladas which I was told are very good too. Very fast service.

We ordered take out for the first time and they were SLAMMED busy when we arrived to pick up our order!!! They were extremely organized and you could tell even though it appeared to be utter chaos, that they were getting it done. It took a little longer to get our order so they gave us a couple teas and whole peach cobbler!! Great place that we will happy to visit again. You have to try their twiced baked potatoes. AWESOME!!!

We’ve been to this friendly chicken roast spot in a strip mall in dallas many times, which should immediately tell you something. Their chicken is tops and always a reliable sight to see 30 birds or more roasting away in a huge oven off the dining area. The wife usually gets the 2 piece white with 2 sides but I rarely stray from the 2 or 3 enchilada plate covered with the best green sauce I’ve ever had. Sides are reliably good, my 2 defaults are fried okra and stuffed mashed potatoes. Not a calorie counter meal but Very satisfying. I took off a point because of the half dozen water buckets attempting vainly to catch water from the leaky roof. Go on a sunny day and you’ll rate it a 5.

We ordered the holiday feast for Thanksgiving for the first time. I picked up the order the day before the holiday hoping the turkey would taste okay and not be dry. The turkey was moist and tasted as if we'd been roasting it all morning and it was delicious. The sides were very tasty as well, including the dinner rolls and peach cobbler. The "feeds 8-10" people was very accurate. Our guests commented on how great the food was. For the price this is a wonderful deal, especially if you don't have time to prepare it yourself. An added bonus is that their food is healthy with no grease or added hormones to the meat.

1 star only because of the service. Living locally and given how fast they prepare takeout, Cowboy Chicken is always a great solution to quick meals that aren’t fast food but great for after work pickup. In the last year we have ordered for pickup and 5 TIMES they have left off an entire meal. Because they wrap up the orders so tightly in a bag, we typically don’t check the order upon arrival so it’s not until we get all the way home to discover they have left something off. Since their delivery driver is always somehow “already gone for the night”, the only solution they have ever offered is to reimburse our credit card. UM HELLO we are starving because we’ve been working all day, have a baby at home and little time to head back to the restaurant. I realize you have a bunch of high school kids working there but can’t you teach them a hard lesson of it comes out of their paycheck if they miss an entire meal on our order??? Please train your employees accordingly!! We are SO disappointed and unfortunately will discontinue eating from here.

The sides are scrumptious and probably fattening! But there's a good variety of sides (including vegetables and cheesy stuff) that pair well with the fire roasted chicken which is truly finger licking good, without the frying! . . . You may have to look a little to find the place -- it's in the rear of an old and tired shopping center off Preston Road . . . but it's well worth the visit!

great roasted chicken with good side option choices. Chicken menus not restricted to slices of meat on a plate.

First time visit. The atmosphere is inviting and the staff provided great service. I order a whole which was good however the wings were a bit burnt. Sweet Potato and Okra was good but the greens beans were a bit crunchy.

The chicken sandwich was very small and hard crunchy things were in the sandwich. Not worth the money.

The chicken was way too dry and not all that good. For a whole chicken, it was very tiny but since it wasn't very good I guess that's not too bad. The banana pudding had no bananas in it. Maybe it was supposed to have banana flavor, but it did not come through all the sweetness. We had had chicken from here before and it was good. Maybe the ownership or management changed. I will not be back.

Cowboy Chicken delivers tender, juicy, flavorful chicken. Many side items are available including cobbler. Chicken enchiladas are a surprise menu item and are delicious. Service is fast, accurate and servers are helpful and friendly.

You would think at 1:00 PM that I would get a warm chicken. Hardly, and it had to be the smallest leg and thigh I've ever seen on a chicken. Ever! I got one of the managers attention, showed him my plate and said what is this? Currently I must've received a miniature chicken. A very small leg and a thigh the size of a dollar coin, seriously. He sent me out another leg. That was nice. The black being side was very good, and the salad was fresh. This was the only saving grace.... in the future, for rotisserie chicken... I'll get mine at Costco for $4.99.

worst place for chicken, was very very dry and not moist not tasty. veggies were dry too _ will never ever eat here again. too smokey

Love this location I came in with quite a large to go order that was very detailed and Preston and Chloe were so friendly beyond helpful with my order.. CC is very lucky to have them on their team.. kudos to Preston and Chole..

So, if you love rotisserie chicken, this is your gig. Do yourself a favor once, though, and enjoy the rotisserie chicken enchiladas with tomatillo cream sauce. You won't be sorry!

Visiting from England I was taken here for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised with the service for essentially a quick stop place. I was disappointed that there wasn't a beer to be had but that's OK. I liked it.

Needed lunch for one quickly. So I stopped by, (having always wanted to try this place) and it was just as good as everyone has said. The pretty young lady explained everything and made some nice recommendations as well. She was patient and sweet and very helpful. After a reasonable wait I was given my food and it smelled divine! I couldn't wait to get back, and I ended up eating half the French fries before I did get back. The green beans were fresh and delicious, but the best was the chicken. Tender and moist and just - great! ( I can't say delicious again can I?). Kind of pricey at $10 plus for one but good quality food isn't cheap these days. Go. Eat. Enjoy

I was quite skeptical when a friend invited me to meet him here for dinner. However, the food exceeded my expectations. The menu is simple and obviously built around rotisserie chicken. I must say that the chicken is truly outstanding. What sets cowboy chicken apart is the sides. I'm still in the process of trying everything, but I have yet to be disappointed. Also, as some other reviewers point out, the chicken enchiladas are delicious and filling. They have some great family deals if you are looking to feed a crew. The portion sizes are fairly large, so no matter what size your appetite you will walk away satisfied. They also do have options for those who are watching calories/gluten intake.

After traveling 14 hours this was an awesome meal. I'm on a low carbohydrate diet and it's so comforting to get a tasteful yet healthy meal. They even delivered it to our hotel.

Cowboy Chicken is primarily known for its rotisserie chicken but I was told to try the chicken enchiladas. I normally dislike chicken enchiladas because I dont care for pulled chicken. The enchiladas here use all white meat and the tomatillo sauce is incredibly good. Place gets really busy for lunch so you want to show up before noon to avoid the line being out the door.

The chicken here is delicious! My favorite menu item (cowboy taco) isn't on there any more, so that's a bummer. The sides are really good. The serving size is big enough to make two meals out of one.

I normally get the food from the Greenville location and still haven't received anything I didn't enjoy. Everything on the the menu is great from the chicken sandwiches to the salads. The taste is unforgettable! They all so have great desserts and drinks. If for some reason you can't make it in the restaurant, they deliver! You can also order the food online through their website with free delivery.

It had been a very long time since we stopped at this location however seeing dozens of chickens being roasted behind the glass in the front of the store got us in. The chicken was tasty, moist and in fact some of the best we had eaten. You can get a couple of side dishes , however it’s the chicken that one would go here for. Located in the far center of a strip shopping center with a very large sign above the restaurant.
I was AMAZED!
This was my first experience at this restaurant, and it was take out. The chicken was so juicy, tender and full of flavor. And the sides - OH MY! SO many to choose from. I was skeptical about "restaurant" mac and cheese but it was very creamy and tasted great. The cream of spinach was divine. We also got tea and lemonade. I thoroughly enjoyed the lemonade.
