Hidden gem

By Mark C |

Really a treat to dine at Bar Kamon. The hidden location adds to the fun - and when the door opens, it's rich and warm and fun. Service is excellent and the drink menu is extensive. My wife and I ordered a fair chunk of the smallish food menu ... and it was all enjoyable. The sando was the highlight with the harumaki not far behind. In the end, the goal was to have something as little different -- and this absolutely hit the target. We left satisfied and warmed by the delicious cocktails.

Taisho Roman

By Masa I |

A hideaway bar with Taisho romance! I found this place when I visited the ASA Bakery, and when I visited at night, the interior was as if I had traveled back in time to Japan, and I felt as if I were drinking in the lounge of a classic hotel. The cocktails were all unique, especially the melon highball. The staff explained the cocktails in detail, which made me want to try other drinks the next time I came to San Diego. There is also food, so you can go to dinner.

Fun, interesting drinks

Bartenders friendly and can really talk the drinks up. Very interesting flavors and one of the best hidden doors we’ve seen in speakeasy’s.

Best Cocktails!

My recent visit to Bar Kamon was amazing! Walking in on a Wednesday evening without a reservation wasn't an issue; we were promptly seated at the bar. The ambiance was very nice and I felt I was drinking at the lobby in Japan classic hotel. The drinks were fantastic, like the Ube Jungle Bird, Fifth Elements?, and Melon Highball. They were all super tasty and unique. Our bartender Luis and Amadeus were very knowledgeable and friendly! They serve good amount of food menu. We tried ceviche, truffle fries and hangar steak. The hanger steak, in particular, was very tender, flavorful. I can't wait to go back to Bar Kamon for more delicious drinks. If you want a great night out, definitely check it out!

What a blast. Relaxing, great drinks and yummy food.

You enter through the ice cream shop and have to push a hidden button to slow a wall to open and gain entry. The place is elegant and the staff is very nice. The drinks at amazing and very different from any place we have been. It was delightful and after. Avery hard day at work we both relaxed and really felt the stress of the day melt away. A muat see kinda place.

Hidden Gem and best bar in san diego

By Masaki Y |

Bar Kamon is easily one of the best cocktail bars I’ve ever visited! The drinks are on another level—creative, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious. The menu is both innovative and extensive, offering so many unique options that you’ll want to come back just to try more. One standout you have to try is the Tokyo Banana—playful yet refined, it perfectly captures the inventive spirit of the bar. It even reminded me of the famous Japanese snack, which made it both nostalgic and exciting at the same time. The atmosphere is stylish yet welcoming, and the bartenders truly know their craft. Whether you’re a cocktail enthusiast or just looking for a memorable night out, Bar Kamon is a must-visit in San Diego.

Quality drinks

Located inside Asa bakery. We arrived as a walk in and got seating at the bar. Nice vibe with strong craft cocktails for a great price. Unique ingredients like Goat Cheese Gin, Szechuan peppercorn, and pork fat wash. The menu is split up in highball, savory, direct, refreshing, etc. We got Trash panda ($15) under Refreshing page with a mix of durian, lemon, crème de banana, and coconut infused. This was delicious except it was topped off with over flowing ice. Also got Black sesame Old Fashioned ($15). For our second round, we got Umeshu highball ($15) and Kohaku highball ($16). Highball just means that it’s mixed with soda. The Kohaku tastes like a refreshing lemonade. For food we got Korean cucumber salad ($7) and Honey koji Buffalo cauliflower ($14). There’s a private lounge room in the back that seats about 10-15 people. If you want a table, best to rsvp.

Secret bar in San Diego that transport you to Japan

By Michelle A |

Looking for a secret Japanese bar in San Diego?? This speakeasy inside of Asa Bakery instantly transports you to Japan. You can either make a reservation or ask the front cashier to let you in through a door behind a secret wall. I just wanna say not only are the vibes super cool, the crafted cocktails are thoughtfully curated. My favorite is always the trash panda! Sweet drinks, but not too sweet. Food is also available.

High-end cocktails, high-end interior for reasonable prices!

Service was friendly and we were seated quickly. It was clear a lot of effort went into the decor, so we were excited for the drinks. Cocktails were reasonably priced ~$14-15 and they punched well above the price point. Personal favorite was the hojicha negroni, but there was a surprising amount of variety, so we had fun trying each other's drinks. I would return to try the rest of the menu. Hoping they bring back the giant mai tai in the pictures...
