Sea food restaurant

By Ladybugs_5 |

Cute little restaurant right on the water food was very good - service was good. Enjoyed the view of the water

Little leery but it was pretty darn good

By duffer47 |

Came in day ahead for cruise and walked to port area. A number or dining choices but this had some inside seating. Seat yourself but service was quick and efficient. Had draft beers in large steins and then ordered. Advice. Orders are large. Easily shareable. Had clam chowder which was a little bland but lots of clams. Had calamari. Huge order. Fish and chips about best I have ever had. And one combo plate which had three types seafood with fries and coleslaw. We left a lot but couldn’t take. Ship out next day. Really really liked this place.

Great atmosphere

Lively & fun atmosphere, fresh seafood & right on the water, so much fun to see the cruise ships go by

A little crusty...

By Ron L |

Not the cleanest restaurant I e ever eaten in, the whole are is a bit seedy and under construction. I ate lunch here at the inside restaurant. Service was OK, food (blackened sea bass) was good but nothing spectacular. Nice view.

Loved it! Worth waiting for!

By HighlanderLJ |

Halibut was so amazing. Locals tell me this place is always full from open to close. I can see why just after one bite. OMG I loved it. IF you visit the USS Iowa, YOU MUST visit Crusty Crab. It was here BEFORE Sponge Bob!

That was a fast $100 for over cooked food

By Kevin D |

Heard some good things about this place so thought we would try it. When the service starts out bad, should be a indication of what is to come. We came there about 5:00 pm, the waiter did not seem that he wanted to be bothered. We ordered the lobster and seafood plater, the lobster, swordfish, and scollops where all overcooked, and even the corn on the cob had no taste, will never come back, very big dissapointment

Reasonably priced seafood

By PepperNewJersey |

A busy place that naturally specializes in seafood. We found the portions plentiful but on the greasy side-great if you like fried foods. Service was attentive and quick.

Seafood on the port

By Frank O |

Had lunch. Portions OK. Took a bit for food to arrive. Given 2pm on a Tuesday and only 1 other family in there. Swordfish I ordered took an extra 10 min after the rest of my family got there food. Was told they were cutting a new fish. It was fresh and cooked fine. Other family members had shrimp and tacos. All were good. Place is a bit run down as is the whole port. Too many loitering unpleasant people it seemed.

The best steamed clams!

By Da M |

Of course I was excited to visit the San Pedro Fish Market to eat seafood. But the atmosphere was overwhelming, so we decided to eat at a restaurant. Crusty Crab is a very small place, but I was blown away when I had my first bite of steamed clam! The meat was plump and tasty. We also ordered fresh oyster was very very fresh and good too. I would love to go back there again!

Best shrimp on the port

By YariandArnold |

Today was out 3rd visit for my husband and daughter and I and let me just say I'm never let down. Expect today, we've never come on a Tuesday always on weekends and it was busier today than we've ever seen it and I always order the snow crab legs first time I ordered them I was so happy today not so great, dry and meat was sticking to the crabs legs falling apart. I wasn't too pleased and I'm sad to report that. But my husband every time we come he orders their ribeye steak and he was very happy with it as always. Michelada was just OK and usually it's made delicious. Over all of course I will come again I love their food. Fries shrimp so juicy and big shrimps for being popcorn shrimp my daughter was happy. And we also ordered shrimp tacos delicious I might order without the sweet sauce next time. But delicious everything always good.

Great Restaurant at the Fish Market

By Richard D |

The Crusty Crab is located near the USS Iowa Museum near the LA Harbor docks. Looking at the other recent tripadvisor reviews, I'd have to agree 100%. The fish and chips platter was absolutely unreal. I actually had trouble finishing it, which is saying something since I'm a big guy. The fish was fresh and fries were done perfect. The beer was served in a frosted glass that was a large as a birdbath. Its too bad I live 1000 miles away, I'd definitely be a "frequent diner". I'd have to say this was the best fish and chips I've even had and being from the Pacific NW that's saying something.

The name caught my eye!

By Jane B |

We had to at least drive by the Crusty Crab! It is a typical waterfront establishment serving seafood. It was a late lunch but the the lunch menu is good until 4 o'clock. There was only one other occupied table. The interior is wooden floors, painted walls and typical seafood shanty style. The clam chowder was thich, creamy and filled with clams. Hobby ordered crab enchiladas and I ordered the fish tacos. We shared the entrees. The portions were large and we didn't eat the salad. Lunch prices are reasonable. We did enjoy the quietness and unhurried atmosphere. Could be that it going on 3 o'clock. If in the San Pedro area, give it a try. We like it!

Great food, fun setting

By Sailorgal12345 |

We had dinner at Crusty Crab to have a good spot to watch the LA Harbor Holiday Afloat Parade. That meant sitting outside at long picnic tables, ordering food at a take out window...all kinda self serve. The place was packed. Our food didn’t take too long to prepare. Clam chowder to warm up a chilly night. Calamari & swordfish, all perfectly done. Negra Modelo on tap. Doesn’t get better. Boats were done up with lights, Santa, music. Super fun atmosphere! People walked by with trays of fish & shrimp piled high & topped with bread. Locals seem to love this place & that speaks volumes! Everyone was having a great time eating & enjoying the Christmas spirit.

Back to an Ole Favorite

By Paul H |

I used to frequent Crusty ' s due to working in the area. Sadly, I haven't been back in almost a year till tonight with great delight! As always the food is graded by me on the following: 1 Taste; 2 Appearance; 3 Quantity; 4 Quality; 5 Service; 6 Service Time; 7 Aroma; and 8 Price. I've had the majority of each menu item over the years and have no complaint. However, tonight the flavor of battered fish was amazing. I believe the ingredients have been changed and for the better. The clamp chowder was even better. I don't know what exactly was changed but seeing the improvements made, they surely need to be commended, not to mention being delicious minus saturated grease it shall always be my favorite place when visiting San Pedro for a relaxing meal!! I hope everyone gets the pleasant opportunity to waited and served by an amazingly gracious hostess. She is now my 2nd reason for visiting and for intellectual stimulating conversation!

Nice little place

By Jeff B |

Went there after visiting the USS Iowa as we were looking for a decent seafood place to go. The was decent and the service was great. If you are looking for quick lunch bite with kids this is a good place to stop.

Good food

By Traveler477 |

We went there after touring the US IOWA. The food is good and lots of it. There is inside and outside dining with a,great view of the Los Angeles docks. Lots of fish on the menu. They have beer and wine. The parking is free. Worth a try.

Go if you like to smell the fish market while eating.

By shipdad |

Service was slow to start but got better. The food is OK but there are better places. The food quality was average but small things like green tomatoes on a burger and fishy crab cakes were disappointing.

WE BOTH GOT SICK AFTERWARDS.

By azcorals |

Not only was the food blah, the service was bad/rude and almost non-existent but, we both got sick. I had the fish tacos because, I wasn't really impressed with the menu period. The boyfriend got the shrimp enchiladas and we both shared a shrimp cocktail. I had to drink a strawberry margarita and he had a beer. The margarita reminded me of how tang has the funny, tart taste. From the beginning though...I missed our entry to the restaurant. We didn't know where the front door was and had to ask someone how e got in and then once, we walked in there was no hostess, podium or even a cash register...confusing??? We stood there for awhile and then I finally had to go outside and ask someone if there was a waitress that could seat us, he said yes and went and got her. She was rude and seemed like we interrupted the fun she was having behind the scene because, she would come out laughing and then we she got to our table she was rude. Anyway, it was a little over priced and I wasn't impressed. By the next day, I was projectile vomiting in the morning after having sharp stomach pain all night with fever and cold chills. The boyfriend didn't feel sick til later that day/night but, around 3:00 am he was in and out the bathroom a few times. I wouldn't recommend it and also, the smell of fish was way too overwhelming...to the point it made me nauseous. Don't waste your time. Pics to be uploaded soon.

Delicious food

By Victel |

I had a very tasty fish sandwich and my husband had chowder. The food was great and the service friendly.

Doesn't look like much, but very good

By Chris M |

Wanted to try a local restaurant while visiting LA area. The wharf had a bunch on choices. The outside didn't seem like much, but the food was great. Our group had the snapper sandwich, shrimp scampi, and shrimp and chips.

Could've been good, but the waitress never came back to take our order...

By E8336ZBmichellel |

Sought this place out as it was recommended by a local family we met on the beach. The waitress told us to seat ourselves, handed out menus and disappeared. After about 15 minutes, we left. Very disappointed. There were only about 4 other tables dining and all had their food so it's not like she was swamped.

Wonderful Seafood

By Scott Crawford |

We had the seafood meal for two ($54). The seafood was perfect, 4 kabobs with scallops, shrimp and fish, Yummy.A lobster done perfectly. Corn on the cobb was soggy and nasty but the fried zucchini was terrific. I had a salad to start and my friend had clam chowder, delicious but too thick.Staff was right on top of it,attentive in every way.

OH Man! Food coma!!! The BEST!

By Jonathan R |

Invited by friends to the waterfront to join the for dinner here. We knew it was going to be good, but this was just over-the-top! Not sure where to start! We had oysters and fried calamari. We had whole crab and grilled whole fish and all the fixings too! Huge portions and we waddled out of there. Our first time and we've been telling folks all about it. Surprised it took us so long to visit and now we're finding out that with the new contruction planned for the area that the Crusty Crab might be closing as well as the rest of the wharf businesses. Hope not or hope it's re-located. Really want to come back!

The Genuine Taste of the L.A. Waterfront

By Kittygal 🇺🇦 🌻 |

As the San Pedro Harbor area undergoes extensive renovation, it's good to see this longtime eaterie still going strong. I venture down for a plste of spucy shrimp in a tomato veg mix, served with garlic bread, a couple of times a year and enjoy it while overlooking the harbor. There is also a fish market and a more formal indoor restaurant. Plenty of choices---delicious ones!🦂🦀🦐

Good, simple fried seafood

By David M |

I was pleasantly surprised. Service is not good, but food is good. Not fancy, but if you want good, simple fried seafood, this is it.?

Port of LA

By Peter M |

Another beautiful location to buy some clam chowder and get some garlic bread on a cold day bring some friends you'll enjoy the Krusty Krab and got an arcade on the outside if you bring some family some cool stuff to win if you got some skills a definite must-see

Massive fish selling market

By Maxwashere |

Personally i don't like massive markets. Here you have to choose your favourite meal (often they are live), stand waiting to be cooked, take personally to your table, make your space among a lot of other customers, babies playing around; often tables are dirty and mixed smells come from inside and outside the space. The meal itself is not bad, but all the rest is something you must like. Here there is not service at all. Moreover is not cheap, if compared to nearby REAL restaurants, also i had the impression that some cheat about the weight of your fish can be done. No dubts at all that next time i will not come back again here. I prefere to seat and being attended by a waiter. And eat in calm without all that noise.

Crowded, but good food

By Carl G |

Crowded, but that is expected because I went on a Saturday evening. Good food, fresh off the ocean. Free parking and tons of parking, but make sure you take cash because a lot of places don't take cash.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that.

By Brandi F |

Fed eighteen people spending about $300 in fresh grilled shrimp with peppers, onions, and potatoes and fresh fried tilapia, with sides of garlic bread and tortillas. Even came home with the bags of leftovers. Awesome deal. There are roaming mariachis, karaoke that started at 4:30 pm. Candied apple merchants selling caramel apples, chocolate and caramel apples, etc. non-alcoholic fresh juices served in pineapples, Margaritas and beer. We celebrated my dads 65th bday there today and everyone had a blast, even the the year old who didn't want to leave! Try it out! Good food and a fun atmosphere!

delicious seafood

By pamelajstravels |

This little hole in the wall restaurant rocks! The portions are huge! They toasted the sour dough bread, which was different, and good. I tried the red snapper fish and chips (a first for me-I ususally have fish and chips w/cod or halibut). The dish was excellent! My boyfriend had a shrimp fajita and a shrimp cocktail. They are not shy about adding shrimp--we were impressed!

Major yum factor

By JAZEStopp |

You order your fresh seafood in one place. Take it to the magical chefs in another place and they work their spells and turn it into the yummiest costal seafood ever. Had a locally made pineapple juice drink. We died and went to heaven!!!!! Not one complaint. Muy bueno. Get that corn in my face!

Fresh seafood

By SindeeS |

This is a great location in Ports of Call Village. The shrimp was fresh and tasty. A fellow diner had the fried oysters, he was unable to finish the dish because there were so many oysters in the order. Great food and service.

Best restaurant in Bikini Bottom

By qwertymcfurty |

Ate their Crabby Patty. Guy at cash register kind of grumpy. Saw where food was being fried. Cook was funny. Owner tried trading me a nickel for my $10 bill. Food was great. Went next door to the Chum Bucket and got sick eating their food.

Hole in the wall with great food

By Lynnea M |

Don't let appearances turn you off - it is old and outdated with the tv blaring. The portions (even the beer) were huge and delicious!

OMG So Much Food

By T S |

My mother and I were visiting from Las Vegas with my five children. My sons wanted to try Lobster so I took them to the Crusty Crab. Omg. I've never seen so much food on the table at one time. It was awesome! And might i add quite affordable. If your ever in the mood for great seafood and you want it at a great price. Remember the Crusty Crab. You won't be disappointed.

Tasty Seafood

By Ginny L |

A group of us ate here at the Crusty Crab while in the area to tour the Iowa. We ate inside, the service was good and the food delicious. Several had the salad bar which had very fresh and varied options. Others had the clam chowder, swordfish and fish and chips and all were pleased with their selections.

Sharing is caring

Who am I ? I went to San Pedro in November on a Wednesday & it was dead, it was cold it was empty and the prices where still expensive. I think it’s a cool spot to come and enjoy with friends family or a date but my advice is that you do share because it’s expensive and you do get a lot of food so I suggest you share to get the most out of your money. Could be better

By James D |

My 4th visit to the San Pedro Waterfront for a meal and the 1st to the Crusty Crab Market. It was the lesser of the group. The staff was very friendly. The food was overpriced and not as good as the others at the same location. The fish tasted fatty and greasy. The shrimp was cold and not tasty. Two Cokes were $7.50. That is a bit high. The Waterfront is a great place for a seafood meal with good atmosphere. This one did not get it right this time.

good food not bad price

By paul h |

looking for a seafood dish without the arm and leg price but good than this is the place for lunch for a party of 5 or more seating was not bad drinks were very good too

Great Experience If You Understand The Options

By sisterbay716 |

Very conveniently located next door to the USS Iowa, the Crusty Crab offers two options for dining. Indoors it is a non-descript casual cafe. Perhaps this is where the less satisfied customers have dined, or those feeling it too expensive. Outdoors diners eat huge shared seafood platters on picnic tables in a covered area overlooking the marina. There's a nice bar and sometimes strolling mariachis. It is all VERY casual, with everything served on styrofoam (the big negative), but it is fun. To do this, you must order the platters in the fish shop -- right where they are selling the fish on ice. We also ordered a plate of ceviche there to have while we waited. The platters include whichever seafood you choose, with grilled onions, peppers, tomatoes and big slabs of garlic bread. It is messy and tasty. One other option is to select a fish and have them grill it for you. Signs make diners aware that the outdoor seafood options can take up to 40 minutes when it is busy, but it is a nice place to sit and there are even arcade games nearby for the kids. Our food only took about 10. This is one of several adjoining restaurants.

Great service & Food

Seafood on a very busy Saturday

By brychewilliams |

We brought a guest from Las Vegas to San Pedro not realizing the pier was under construction. Parking was hard to find and people all over. It’s also MDW so we went straight to Crusty’s. We’ve been there before. Seafood shrimp and fish platter did not disappoint. The calamari was served the way we wanted it soft but not greasy. The servers were all attentive and despite there busyness the food came out on time.

Pleasantly surprised!

By Lisa Z |

We were looking for a place to eat after a whale watch tour in San Pedro. Assumed all the places would be over-priced tourist traps. But the Crusty Crab was surprisingly good! We got a mixed platter (fish and shrimp) that came with the most delicious potatoes, and the garlic bread was out of this world. For just $20 it was big enough to share! Great place to go with the kids!

Rather disappointing this time

By Steve H |

It's been quite a while since we were in the area and we had eaten at the Crusty Crab in the past. As we approached, it turns out that most of the Port O' Call Village has been razed, with only the Crusty Crab and the attached Fish Market still open for business. We went for lunch and were thankful that they have lunch specials, which cost a bit less than the dinner menu. However, the service was not up to par! We had asked for unsweetened tea for her and raspberry tea for me. Two raspberry teas were served at $3/glass. The wife ordered the Red Snapper Lunch Plate, and asked for cole slaw instead of the small salad (they only use iceberg lettuce for their salads which she is allergic to). The plate arrived with french fries and some over-cooked veggies, no cole slaw. I had to ask for the cole slaw. I had the tasty but over-priced cup of clam chowder ($2.50 added to a dinner but $4.95 added to a lunch!). The bright spot was the Seafood Pasta I ordered, which was quite rich in the white sauce. The low point, having to shoo away flies during our meal. I guess you could give the place a try. Perhaps you'll have better luck than we did, but I doubt that my wife & I will return. Good luck!

terrible visit

By Eloise S |

WEnt to eat here before our cruise to Hawaii, and when we went in, it was around 7:00, and they were already closing up, and we looked around and hardly anybody was there, so we did not stay, went some place else, which was way better

Yummy and exciting food venue!

By lisa c |

My son and I decided to try this because of the name! Once we found parking, it took awhile so be prepared, it was free parking though. We walked over, there was alot of people. We ordered fish and chips and shrimps and chips. We found a table to share, there were mariachis playing music live, food came out hot and very good. Fish was fresh and fries tasted good. Tables were clean, no problems with birds. We shared a small snow cone because it was huge, only $6. Definitely going back! We want to try the shrimp, potatoes and garlic bread platter!

Great Tacos

By Kathie L |

We stopped at the Crusty Crab after a trip to the USS Iowa. Due to the fact that it was raining, we took a table inside. The place was crowded but that is always a sign that the food was good. I have the fish tacos and my husband the shrimp tacos. Both were very good - the sauce on them was great - spicy but not too hot. Our grand daughter had the fish and chips and the portion was huge. We shared in her meal and it tasted great as well. After eating we went for a walk along the harbor.
