Good

By L H |

Spacious, airy place with a variety of seating; order at the counter, they bring your items to you. Sweet potato bowl is delicious, very flavorful, Plain croissant good. In Streeterville a few blocks west of Navy Pier.

Great pastry

By Diana T |

It was busy , but I was lucky to get a table in the lounge zone. Greek yogurt and granola with berries were a heaven like. Delicious pistachio croissant.

Lemonade

By Michael D |

We were tired after walking around Navy Pier and Cupitol was a perfect place to sit and relax. I had the lemonade which was very good. They have great WiFi as well!

Excellent meal

By John E |

Really tasty breakfast. Coffee was excellent and the eggs and loxs were amazing. Both of my teenagers also enjoyed their meals and the service is outstanding.

Great atmosphere, if you have the time

By Israel S |

The atmosphere is great for coffee and drinks, but only worth it if your willing to wait over 30min for food. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with no alternatives or substitute toppings. My partner received her order within 10 minutes. After 25 minutes my order still had ent arrived and we asked an employee for any updates and they only told us that it will be out shortly and walked away. This place will not be one I will be stopping by again. We ended up walked out and going somewhere else. I wouldn’t have mind waiting if the staff or anyone let us know what was going on. It’s hard pill to swallow when you see other people that just walked in get your order before you.

Very pleasant brunch option

By Lee T |

I stopped by for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning. Busy place, but no queue when I arrived. Friendly staff - very quick service. Good omelette. Can't say much more but would certainly return.

Cupitol Rocks

By Patrick McGee |

European Breakfast with a latte, such a great start to the day after walking around the lake. Excellent and comfortable decor. Service was good and everything about the place is welcoming. I wish we had a Cupitol oin my town.

Delicious food, “social” city environment

By Bethoogle |

Ducked in to Cupitol to get out of a rain storm and grab a bite to eat while in Chicago. Was unfamiliar with the restaurant so took a minute to peruse the menu. The counter staff was very friendly. Ordered a vegan soup and organic gingerale from the refrigerated case and was told they would be delivered to “table 18”. I found “table 18”, which had a little numbered tent card, and seated myself. I looked around and people of all ages were on there laptops—one person at each table, staring into their screen, some talking into Bluetooth, most just focused on the screen. No one was talking to anyone else. I assume some were college students during work, while others were business people, but you couldn’t tell...no one was dressed “corporate”, more “casual” than even “business casual”. The soup and baguette, that came along with it, were outstanding. The ginger ale delicious. The experience a bit odd—I certainly knew I was not in my hometown or downtown—a different city experience. Would’ve preferred little restaurant noise—people chatting, laughing, etc. Kind of felt like I was in a galaxy far, far, away. Oh well, food was good and I got out of the rain!

Cosy, chilled and relaxing. Great coffee, lovely selection of food and nice decor. Free wifi and comfortable chairs too. Spacious and bright too. Not cheap but well worth it.

Good for breakfast before the train

By Ian G |

Popped in here for breakfast on the way to Union Street station. Whilst sitting yiu can see the activity in the bakery. Good croissants and coffee

Loved it

By Seth L |

Food was awesome. Mocha was great. Bakery top notch. Coffee was just ok, and I was bummed that there were no single origin offerings even though it’s on the menu. All in all was great though

Casual and friendly

By Jessica B |

Yummy coffee and delish breakfast croissant (ham&cheese one) Stopped by here with girlfriends for a Sunday breakfast and it was easy to be here. The process of ordering at the counter (miso Carmel latte AND a cold pressed juice ) along with my croissant was a breeze and the staff adorably friendly. Shared a long table with other guests that was relaxed and efficient. I wanted another croissant. I’ll definitely be back to try more items. The pancakes looked divine.

My new favorite coffee eatery

By Todd J |

My first visit. For some reason, since their is a cupcake coffee bakery on the same street I thought this was a cupcake place. But then I pleasantly discovered this is a trendy coffee and eatery. They serve real meals in addition to bakery. I enjoyed the fish n chips on their dinner menu along with the cappuccino. They get plenty of foot traffic as folks walking to and from Navy Pier. I will definitely go back and try some of the other meals.

the best breakfast

By Limor H |

very good food and drinks, various options for adults and kids. love the omelets and salads. great location and nice service

Idiotic serving regime

By dicky |

So they make you wait to order, even that they are not very good at. The after you have ordered you can go and find a table and they might bring or you have to fetch it. In the mean time the staff are hanging around doing nothing. Why they don’t do table service instead of wasting time I have no ide.

Cupitol

By okie56 |

Delicious coffee, yummy pastries, trendy decor! A short walk south from Navy Pier. Highly recommend!!!

Hidden gem

By Amy L |

The pistachio croissant was sinfully delicious. It was light and flaky with a pistachio crème. The Nutella latte with oat milk was perfect and not too sweet. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. Highly recommend!

Delicious!!!

By Karen |

I had the opportunity to visit them twice during my stay in Chicago. The food is delicious and the service very friendly.

Excellent service

By saverb |

Great place to stop at for good coffee and light food. Very relaxing atmosphere and excellent service. Would definitely recommend after a long day of walking around the city.

Great atmosphere but Pricey

By Michele Y |

Very nice atmosphere to relax, good coffee, but service was slow and $12 for a small juice seems excessive, even in Chicago.

Great coffeee.

By Kylie G |

Great coffee. We only grabbed coffee and a fresh orange juice both were too quality. The menu looked great. I’d deficit it try the food next time I’m here.

Sunday Brunch with friends

By Ivette R |

This restaurant offers a great selection for Brunch! This ambient is very nice, even though it was full we did not feel cramped. They have a little of everything, the coffee is superb, and the service is top notch. This place was suggested by some friends that joined us for brunch. Highly recommended.

Your best habit!!!

Very welcoming staff, Top grade coffee and the food is amazing! Perfect place for everyone to relax work and socialise!

There's everything and everything good

By victoradrianAV |

very good place for breakfast near Navy Pier, there are many breakfast options and juices, which I find a great hit, the bakery very good.

No fuss great breakfast

By RamSRam |

One of the few great breakfasts we have had in Chicago downtown. Varied menu at reasonable prices. On a rainy dull day the place was packed. The Spanish omelettes and Shroom omelettes were excellent, as were juices. Though order was at the counter food was served at the table. Glad we went there.

Delicious

By Stef B |

Very good!!!! Best breakfast I’ve had in Chicago!! Great coffee! The European (Granola Greek Joghurt) was absolutely awesome!!!! Delicious!! I’m happy to be back soon

Excellent service and breakfast

By Andrew Cleary |

Had breakfast at Cupitol Chicago with my wife and 4 Daughters. Great variety from pancakes, waffles, and egg dishes. Service was prompt and extremely friendly. I would 100% Return during my stay in Chicago.

Poor service

By L H |

Commenting I needed an assortment of pastries; the counter server's response was "there's not much left" - she seemed impatient with questions about the selections. She repeated 3 times that I'd be called when my order was ready, then helped other customers instead of simply placing the 4 items in a bag. I moved off to the side to wait, noticing a 2nd case of items she’d failed to point out. Finally she handed over the order, announcing she’d substituted one of the items without asking me what I would’ve preferred; afterwards I discovered that item had pistachios in it, which I’m allergic to. So while the pastries were good, I wouldn’t go back for the customer (non)service. Hopefully the new Maison Marcel 2 blocks away will open soon.

Modern and friendly

By dts617 |

Stepped in for a dinner. The bright and modern look draw me in. Cupitol offers a large selection of foods. I took the burger which turned out to be ok - a little bit on the dry side. the fries were ok. Atmosphere and service are very nice.

Chill out breakfast

By Shan69 |

Nice chilled out place, very comfortable seating and very spaciousness. lovely latte n ham cheese croissant. Scone was also delicious. Thank you

Yummy for breakfast

By pirategirlross |

Relaxed place for a good breakfast. Good healthy choices, easy with kids, not too expensive, well located for touristing.

Cute little coffee place

By Laurie K |

Was in town for a few days and decided to try this place for breakfast since it was so close to where we are staying. You walk in have to scan the QR code order at the counter then they bring to your table for you, We both ordered a breakfast sandwich and coffee I was just a lit surprised they charged me an extra dollar to put it on a bagel rather than the croissant it comes on, but we are in a more expensive city . The sandwich was good, coffee was hot nothing special really but still in all a cute place, nice people, enough seating etc. With eating in you get 1 free refill on your coffee they were nice enough to give it to us in to go cups for our walk

Relaxing Trendy Spot

By Oclo812 |

Stopped by Cupitol for a quick coffee and breakfast and we were happy that we did. I got a Spanish omelette and the Freddy Martini and both were very good. It was not overly busy despite being a Saturday and the atmosphere was very relaxed and staff was pleasant. We would not hesitate to come to Cupitol again next time we are in Chicago

Cute Place

By Jessica |

Food was good, friendly staff, bathrooms were clean, didn't wait a super long time for food or a table, and decent prices!

Great breakfast.

By LoveHoliday22 |

We went to Cupitol twice during our visit to Chicago and the food and service was excellent. Both times we did not have to wait long for a table. The yogurt granola was lovely, waffles were really nice. Would go again!

Yum

By J Lynn |

This was a walk in spot since the spot up the street was jam packed. Ordered a yummy wrap w guac, queso fresco and pico de Gallo w a side of hash browns and freshly squeezed oj. No alcohol before 11am though. Lattes made with love.

Love the breakfast

By Kathy M |

We live in the building so are very lucky or have Cupitol downstairs now. We love their European breakfast which is a big scoop of Greek yogurt covered in thick honey, surrounded by fresh berries and tons of their crunchy homemade granola. What a treat. Their coffees and lattes and scones and meat pies are very good too!

Pretty good

By L H |

As usual, the food is better than the service here, usually prompt at preparing delivery orders though. Avocado wrap good, not too greasy - would be better with more/bigger pieces of avocado. Fresh blueberries on pretty good pancakes.

Beats a Larger Chain Any Day

By lindsinic |

I always seek out good coffee shops when we travel out of town. I despise the “chains”. I’d much rather support the local shops, and their offerings are oftentimes FAR better. I liked that we were seated at a numbered table since we would be eating food. Menu selections were good, and food was made fresh. Pastry selection looked delicious! I had a Nutella Latte and it was soooo yummy. Not overly sweet, either, which I appreciated. The drinks at the “chains” can be cloyingly sweet. Will definitely go back next time we’re in Chicago.

Great Little Coffee Stop

By Kati E |

Stopped here on whim and had an almond milk latte. The place was busy, but not overwhelmingly so. Decor is chic and most of the clientele inside were college students or young business professionals.

Capitol Delivers Hip Dining Experience

By Clint G |

Great food. Excellent location. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. We will definitely eat here again. Well done.

Good food, Cozy setting

By ncr1jmj |

this is a comfortable place foe breakfast and to linger over coffee. The lunch is also pretty good while the dinner menu is good but rather limited. The space is large enough for you to hang out reading emails, working, etc. without feeling guilty about taking up a spot.

Great place for relaxation

By hanna e |

The friendliest place to get a cup of coffee and also when I go to the end of the day I don't have to figure out how much I have to spend.

Lovely local coffee shop with amazing staff!

By Chip N |

Love love love this place. There's a lounge area where it feels like you're sitting in your own living room with comfy sofas or you can sit at one of the many tables. Either way, the coffee is great, pastries are so lovely and breakfast/brunch menu is extensive with yummy food. The staff are super friendly which is the main attraction for me. This is my regular weekend haunt - laptop, good coffee, good food and amazing service sprinkled with fun people-watching activity. I just wish they would open for dinner too!!

Good coffee, mediocre breakfast sandwich

By m0nsoon |

I enjoyed the drip coffee I got. It was strong and tasty. The breakfast sandwich was mediocre, however. Fake American cheese on a greasy croissant. The eggs were over-fried but the thick cut bacon was delicious. The ambience reminds me of a college coffee shop with a large study hall vibe full of students studying. However the service was great and very friendly. Four stars because Cupitol seems pretty generic to me and has no uniqueness to it, the food sucked but the coffee was good. The service was excellent. Overall, this place was a bit overhyped for me and fell short of the expectations that were set.

Yummo!!

By D M |

Started our day here and had the best latte ever! Great food and great service! Would definitely go back. Just wish they had one in the burbs!

Great coffee and food!

By Harvsman |

Was staying up the road at Loews and like most Aussies I'm fussy on coffee, Saw this place and decided to try it....Very pleasantly surprised!! From memory I had the smoked salmon bagel and coffee, It was so good I came back the following day for takeout!!! Will definitely be back when next in Chicago, Staff were friendly too!

Great breakfast place

By Teemul0818 |

Was in town for business and happened across Cupitol while on a morning walk. I thought it was a cupcake place but found it was a great place for breakfast! Grab a menu, place your order at the counter and head to a table. They'll bring it out to you. I had a gruyere, spinach and mushroom omelette and a cappuccino. Delicious. Did not try the pastries, but they looked wonderful. Lots of green juices, smoothies for the health conscious. Great music, clean, friendly service, beautiful decor. Reasonably priced too.

Warm welcome - lovely relaxed environment - very busy - breakfast sandwich (a croissant with bacon egg and cheese) was very tasty!

Great breakfast but without the Sunday morning wait

By bagspacked51 |

Stopped on for Sunday brunch when a nearby place had a 40 minute wait. My husband had the Shroom Omelette with hash browns. I had the avocado breakfast wrap. We both had fresh squeezed orange juice, which was delicious. The food was terrific, the prices reasonable. Our food was delivered to our table with dispatch. This is definitely a place to remember for our next visit to Chicago.

Breakfast...yummy

By Imafoodie2 |

Love the vibe in here, very spacious, Spanish omelette was excellent, Spicey and super fluffy, coffees are amazing. I’ll be back 😃

Best place to work!

By Yessita Oppugno |

This is an excellent option if you want to get work done while enjoying a top quality coffee. Patisserie and wine are delicious! Plus, perfect atmosphere, fast WiFi and comfortable coaches.

Trendy cafe

By Pebbles111 |

I popped in for a quick lunch, having read the good reviews on Googke maps... Inside is rustic, spacious and airy space with a selection of high tables, dining tables & chairs and sofas with coffee tables. Outside dining is available on the pavement. Clearly a popular and trendy place to be. I ordered straight away. Waited briefly for my drink and then my food was delivered to the table. I opted for the berry smoothie...tasty but not particularly thick as its made with coconut water I believe rather than milk. For food I had the sweet potato bowl with brown rice, kale & coconut curry sauce. It was tasty but not particularly hot. Service was quick and efficient, it could've been a bit friendlier but I guess they serve a lot of customers each day. Price wise it's typical, expensive US prices. I would recommend and would return. Thank you. By the way, the prices on the window outside are out of date.

Very Nice Breakfast

By Adam and Becki |

My wife and I stopped here for brunch before hitting the beach for a bit and split a breakfast. The line moved quickly and was much faster than a lot of other places. Their outside seating is nice and they have excellent food.

More than a coffee shop

By Jennifer H |

First time in Chicago and was looking for a great cup of coffee. Found this place a few blocks from our hotel. This place opened in March 2017. It offers a full coffee bar, breakfast food, pastries, and other offerings for lunch. Cute place with comfy chairs to sit and read or booth type seating and tables. Came here twice. Service was great and kept the place neat and clean.

Perfect for a quick but cozy breakfast!

By Emma H |

We stopped here on a whim because we didn't breakfast but in a little bit of a hurry because there's so much to do in the city! This was the perfect spot. The service was timely and staff was kind. The yogurt and the breakfast burrito were delicious!

Great coffee shop I stumbled upon!

By tiffany p |

I’m a huge coffee lover and I always love trying new places. This shop was near my hotel so I decided to give them a try. I got the Nutella latte. I personally didn’t taste Nutella but it was still amazing. Staff was friendly and quick during a busy time. It was cozy, modern and very clean. Lots of seating plus an cute little patio outside to take your dogs. Price was reasonable just like most other coffee shops. They have baked goods, desserts and fresh juices too. I did not try any of them though I was tempted.

Don’t care about food allergies

By Chris A |

Guy behind the counter was unwilling to look if the food had eggs in it. If you have any issues, they don’t care.

Exceptional service and dining

By Wendy M |

Had breakfast with friends at Cupitol this morning. The ladies that took our orders were friendly and made us feel welcomed. The coffee....are you kidding me? Amazing! We each ordered something different to eat and shared a bite. Everything was excellent. Definitely recommend!

Great for lunch

By psk1977 |

Order at the cashier and food brought out by server. Innovative menu - overall excellent experience for lunch

Good coffee

By BagmanNZ |

We stopped off here on a freezing day while walking back from the Navy Pier. The coffee was good and the place has a nice feel to it.

Delicious healthy food near Navy Pier, AMC

By musicnerdfl |

Great soup and wild caught salmon, fresh and nicely cooked, spinach, rice, filled me up. I am not into pretty food with a couple of sprouts and a tiny piece of meat.

Get out of the cold...

By MikeyD-Bonita |

Stopped in for a coffee during the 1st cold spell this year. Warm inviting restaurant with modern innovative coffees , teas and foods. Fast and efficient. Glad we stopped in...

Quick breakfast before a boat cruise

By Charlotte J |

We needed a fast breakfast before heading out on an architectural tour near by. They serve a bunch of pastries and beverages. Oddly, even though we must have appeared a bit lost, no one asked if we had any questions or showed us the sandwich menu - we may have ordered a more substantial item if we knew it served them. My ham and cheese croissant was tasty, but not memorable. Regarding the cafe space, I do like how large and open it is, giving it a relaxed vibe.

Weak Coffee, Confusing Menu

By Dini O |

Not really sure what to make of this place. It calls itself a coffee shop, but the coffee was weak and flavorless. It’s impossible to read their menu board because there are three light fixtures hanging in front of it. Ordered croissants to go with our coffee and those were really tasty. Noticed that the staff was bringing out full hot breakfasts and serving them to guests. None of these hot breakfasts were posted on the menu board. We were told by a staff member that the hot breakfasts were only posted on their online menu. Did someone actually think that was a good idea? And if so, why?

That breakfast sandwich, though!

By Ashley B |

Absolutely delicious food and coffee. The place was super busy when we visited but they were very efficient in getting us through. Once we got our food it was definitely worth the wait!

Breakfast at the Cupitol Coffee & Eatery

By Libby S |

The restaurant popped up on a google search for "Breakfast in Chicago". $45 and 30 minutes later we were in Streeterville and not Chicago. This was ok and we looked forward to having a good breakfast. Once we were at the cash register to order I asked for a menu as the QRCODE route takes too long and you cannot view all options at once. The staff person became agitated with me because I was taking too long to scroll. I asked her for a paper menu and she waved her hand to the front door and said there was a menu outside at the entry. Then I told her I would like to have biscuit and gravy, hash browns, over easy eggs and bacon. She said I could have poached eggs and biscuits and gravy as that was on the menu. She insisted that is how I could get a biscuit and gravy. She argued with me until I said " fine, that isn't what I want but I'll take it. Seriously? Finally she said "Well what do you want" and I replied with my original request. I finally got it but not without paying for 2 entrees. Then you go get your own coffee, napkins, etc. And you go get refills. We paid A LOT for breakfast and worked our rears getting it and eating it. The food was so so. I hate being negative, but it was not a good or enjoyable restaurant.

AMAZING VEGAN OPTIONS!

By Olivia C |

My mum and I went here for lunch whilst on holiday in Chicago and it was amazing! The vibes of the cafe are great; lots of seating, including sofas. Their menu is great; there’s something for everyone. They have so many different drinks options from cocktails to hot drinks. Their food options are vast too. They do classic breakfast meals to big portions of pasta and wraps. As a vegan, I was so excited to try the food here. They have vegan pasta, wraps etc… I had the vegan pesto pasta which was amazing! A huge portion and was so tasty! I couldn’t find vegan pasta anywhere else in downtown Chicago so this was great! My mum has the Pesto wrap which can be made vegan or vegetarian (vegan is without feta). She loved it! It looked amazing! Loaded with vegetables and an amazing pesto mayonnaise in a wheat wrap. They also did an avocado vegan wrap which looked nice. The prices were reasonable for the quality and amount of food you got. The staff were so friendly too! We sat in this cafe for hours in the afternoon as it was so relaxing inside and was nice and warm! If you’re not vegan they have many non vegan options for everyone too! So many amazing cakes and pastries too! Would 100% recommend this as one of the best cafes in downtown Chicago!

Good Coffee

By Matt1147 |

Was passing by and grabbed an iced coffee to go. Service is good, atmosphere is good and to what you'd expect for a coffee shop. Enjoyed my beverage.

OK

By 4states |

We stopped in for a late evening coffee and snack. The service was good but the food wasn't anything special. It had a nice relaxed atmosphere, but we were a bit surprised when the people at the next table started eating food they had purchased elsewhere.

Pretty good

By L H |

Fast prep on take-out/delivery. Country Benedict is perfectly poached eggs served on large slices of multigrain bread with lots of gravy (a bit bland). Buttermilk pancakes (pretty good) can be ordered with different fruit choices; 4 large with a tiny container of syrup, about a tablespoon of butter.

Don’t stop here - It’s bad

By barnacle08 |

I experienced a new low in dining tonight, thought I’d stop in for a quick dinner. Ordered pomodoro with gnocchi and fish and chips plus coffee. Female Server behind the counter- miserable Front of house staff - friendly and efficient Cappuccino Coffee- luke warm Gnocchi- glue balls Pomodoro sauce- watery (see photos) Fish and chips - fish goujons at best, obviously a problem with the kitchen as the fries were burned outside and undercooked inside. First and last visit- if you are passin by on the way to and from the pier then keep going

Excellent Breakfast, Nice Ambiance

By Brad S |

Excellent breakfast. Since we were staying on Navy Pier, Cupitol was a short walk. You start off in a line ordering your breakfast and coffee, then select a table number. The line takes a while with the same people taking orders and making coffees, but once you're through it's a very pleasant and surprisingly quiet dining room. A staff member bring your order to your table, the only table service offered. There's a self-serve station for anything else you need, which in today's low/poor staffing in many restaurants, is a great service model. The marscapone/berry french toast and salmon with eggs were both excellent and served quickly, despite a busy dining room. We'd go again staying in this area.
