DMK is so worth it.

By Kansascarr5 |

Delicious food. Great Service. Fun atmosphere. Truffle fries were out of this world. My patty melt has some much flavor. My wife ordered a Po'boy that was mouth watering as well. On top of that, I love the fact that they play movies in the background. On the day we visited it was Dodge Ball. There was no sound but that was awesome because it was a great conversation piece throughout the meal. There were plenty of libations to quench your thirst. The Blood Orange Soda is very refreshing. All around a great place to visit for food and fun.

Fantastic!

By bmsozzy |

Just a great burger, so very tasty. They seem hand pressed, and the hamburger buns..they were perfect for holding everything together. I had the #4, green chilis (held the egg though) and it was delicious! Brother had the #3 with pastrami and said it was one of the best burgers he's ever had. The fries were perfectly done.. If youre in Chicago you must stop by.

Burgerness and sideness

By Ishouldstartlifting |

To be honest, the worst thing about this place is trying not to order the whole menu. Everything about this place is great, the staff were super welcoming and damn their food was next level!! Insane burger, amazing fries and those tater tots.

Good atmosphere, great fries, burger was average

By Amos R |

Had the bbq burger and it was good, but not great. Liked the thin bread, but meat was overlooked and did not have as much taste as I expected. The Parmesan, truffle fries were excellent and I liked the Belgian White beer the served. The atmosphere here is really good as it is in Wrigleyville and I like diversity of the customers. The wait staff was also very good, and service was overall quite good.

Great Burgers!

By Bob6207 |

We were in the area of Illinois Masonic hospital and used the Food Network app to find this place around the corner. Fantastic little food establishment. I had Burger #4, which has roasted green chilies, a fried egg, BACON on a homemade bun. Fantastic. My daughter had the Mac & Cheese #1, aged cheddar with a parmesan crust, and an order of fries with parmesan and truffle cream. Again fantastic food. One warning: it is LOUD in there. Second warning: it fills up face, so get there when they open if you can.

Good burgers, terrible service

By orlandofoodlover18 |

Went on a slow night. There was about 6 tables sat. But somehow it took 15 minutes just to be greeted. Drinks took forever and they were out of about half of their beer. Our burgers came out on small side dish plates. They tasted good, but service was so bad that everyone at our table was just frustrated. Not sure I'd go back.

Hamburgers and much more

By Pete P |

First off, the hamburgers here are terrific, with an extensive menu catering to all tastes. Second, the beer list is not long but offers something to please every beverage lover. Third, the mac and cheese appetizer is outstanding, along with the deviled egg appetizer and the parmesan-dusted french fries. Fourth, service is fast and friendly. Fifth, prices are reasonable and DMK is convenient to CTA trains, so you can get to it from anywhere.

Go for the Food

We visited DMK on our quest for the Triple D checklist. We walked to the burger bar from Wrigley Field after a Cubs game on a Saturday night. If going on a weekend night we would advise sitting at the bar to get the fastest service. We had great seats at the bar with attentive and friendly bartenders taking our order. Great selection of beers and wine. I had the lamb burger and my husband tried the "special" cubs burger, both well cooked, full of flavor, with buns that were soft and had a good burger to bun ratio. We shared a salt and pepper fries, for "basic" fries well seasoned and a good crisp texture. Best meal of our two day trip to Chicago. Definitely a young, energetic crowd.

Just alright

By wanderlustgirl77 |

We went here with great expectation because it came so highly recommended. It was just alright. Very thin burgers and everything else a-la-carte. Clever burgers combinations but they just fall flat. There is hardly any meat on the burger. Sweet pot fries were the best thing. Nice beer menu but all of it, except 5 or 6, are bottle/can, very limited tap menu. There are better places for fresh, on tap beer. The hostess had a really hard time juggling walk-ins, waited much much longer than we should....we stood and watched empty seats sit empty until they finally asked us if we minded sitting at a communal table.

Very good place to go for a burger and a beer

By John A |

The burgers are very good, but the fries definetly need good toppings. They have several options for toppings, highly recommend getting some as the fries by themselves are nothing special. Overall all though very good place for a burger and a few beers.

Excellent burgers

I went to DMK for the first time in July and it is now my standard Cubs pregame meal. It is about 6-7 blocks south of Wrigley on Sheffield. That is far enough not to be crowded on game games but close enough to walk. DMK was recommended to me by a coworker and I've been hooked ever since. I've probably been there 8-10 times since July. My favorite is the #4 which has hatch chiles. I've be hooked on those since a trip to Albuquerque earlier this year. I always go with a double, pink, and a runny yolk on the egg. Even though the #4 is the only menu burger with an egg, everything is better with a fried egg on it. The fries are very good, I've tried the salt/pepper, truffle, and cheddar scallion fries. My favorite are the salt and pepper (with house made ketchup), the truffle fries are a close second and the cheddar/scallion a distant 3rd. I'm not a sweet potato fry fan but I know people who like these. Every burger I've tried has been good. They have a variety of unique and/or house made toppings. The bartenders are very good and they have a variety of craft beers available. They also cater to the local crowd. The "seasonal" tap beer was OldStyle for playoff season and the season burger had italian beef and housemade giordinera. They also had a burger with hotdog, and the standard chicago dog toppings. I also got a free sample of the seasonal chili which was green chili with pork shoulder....fantastic. I haven't tried the milkshakes but again I've only heard good things. I've taken ~6 different people with me and all are now fans of the place.

Best Burgers Around

By Pleachy |

DMK is my husband's favorite restaurant. Amazing burgers, fries and beer, every time. We've eaten here again and again and will continue to do so.

I will move to Chicago for this restaurant alone.

By BrewTownGirl |

We went to DMK Burger Bar under the recommendation of a friend. "It's the best burger," she said. "Yeah, yeah," I thought. I will never doubt her again. It WAS the BEST BURGER I have ever eaten. And I pine for another one (living 90 miles away doesn't make that an easy desire to fulfill). The beef is soooo tender, soooo tasty, soooo wonderful. The tastes of the burger, the toppings (I had the #4 Burger) of hatch green chile, fried egg, bacon and jack cheese, and the super soft yet durable bun was to die for. My dining partner is not a beef eater, but she had similar rave reviews for the turkey burger. I haven't yet mentioned the FRIES!! We ordered the large sweet potato fries. YUM!! Even better, our awesome waitress brought us two samples of their other fries. The fries themselves are delish, but the dipping sauces are unbelievable. I cannot get the truffle cream parmesan dipping sauce out of my head. And, I could barely pry the other sampler of the Wisconsin cheddar sauce from my partner's fingers. The wait staff was great. The beer list was impressive. Truly, it's a great combination and a place I'll absolutely, positively go to again when I'm in Chicago (or purposely drive to as my sole destination).

Great craft Beer and Better Burgers

By DXWILL |

Found this place when we went to the Blue Man group. Looking for a great burger place and DMK has it all. Gourmet burgers, terrific French fry options and great looking shakes. Craft beer list was awesome, we waited 10 minutes for a table and that gave us time to aww of the craft beer selection. Very good meal before a very good show!

Staff lunch

By Ana A |

Always great service, some may think burgers a bit pricey but it's not your average burger. Worth the price, Amish blue cheese fries are still my favorite and their sweet potato fries are right up there too. I tried their Mexican chili which to me turned out to be pozole, it was great.

Green chili + Schlitz $9.95!

By SamAdamsGhost |

The Hatch green chili is fantastic (and a rare find anywhere outside of New Mexico)! Combine with a 16 oz. Schlitz and you have a great winter lunch for under $10.

Best Burgers in Chicago

By Jimena |

I lived in Chicago for 3 years and Im a total foodie, I love exploring and going to different restaurants. The BEST burger I've had in Chicago is in DMK hands down. Ive only been to the DMK in lakeview so i'm not sure if the quality is different in the other restaurants. I recommend the Aged Cheddar, Smoked Bacon, Charred Balsamic Red Onion, Rufus Teague's BBQ Sauce burger and the parmesan truffle cream french fries.

Amazing service

By Denise P |

Had lunch at the Navy Pier location today . Our son ordered the bison burger but after a couple bites he didn't like it. We told him just to eat the fries [which are amazing] and help his little brother eat his cheeseburger. The waiter noticed the uneaten burger, whisked it away and told us we would not be charged for it! We told him we fully expected being charged for it and certainly wouldn't mind paying for it since our son ordered it and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Then he brought out a plain cheeseburger for our son, without us asking for one! We couldn't believe the exceptional service and the food was fantastic!!

Major Burgers!

By Doreen1961 |

I went here to have a burger but on seeing the size felt I couldn't eat one, so my two sons tackled the Burgers and loved every mouth full. I thought I would have a salad! Hahaha! Not what I was expecting again huge portions but delicious, go with a big appetite, you will not be disappointed. The only thing I can say on the negative side was the music it was a little to loud for me as it was tough to hold a conversation.

Tasty fries, ok atmosphere

By SWHoosierTraveler |

Ate here on Saturday night. It was a little busy so we had to wait 30 mins. There isn't much space to wait for a group of 7, but we were able to get a few seats at the bar and have some drinks. One negative: We were placed near the entrance, so many of us were cold much of the night. I had the #6 on the menu (has chorizo, guacamole, etc) and it was fairly good. We shared the french fries and sweet potato fries which were tasty (all of us agree, best part of meal). Additionally, the waiter was very nice and helpful in helping us figure out what we wanted. Another negative aspect was that as a medium sized group, we were placed at a table with another group (who someone in our group found annoying). This was a good burger restaurant but with all the food choices in Chicago, I'm not sure we will be back.

Good but not great

By Vince R |

Saw this place on the food network. Being a burger lover my wife and I thought we'd check it out. The atmosphere and service were top notch. Can't say enough great things about those things. Beer and booze selection was also impressive. Burgers however were just slightly above average. We had the Patty melt and bison burger. I'd say the bison burger was better than the Patty melt but was still nothing to write home about. To get a truly spectacular burger I'd suggest octave grill in Chesterton or Franklin House in Valparaiso. Both have burgers that are truly gourmet and second to none.

Loud and fun in Lincoln Park

By MichaelKohn1 |

Had this place recommended and it was a lot of fun. Very loud with people and music which matches this area of Chicago. Had a bison burger and mac and cheese which were excellent. Nice server and good drink menu also. Be prepared to wait but worth it.

yeah, well, average burger and location

By Bastian D |

I was surprised by all those positive reviews. I had the bison burger and while it wasn't bad it was farm from being above average. Simply nothing stood out. Service, location, food... all average

Standout Burgers in a Typical Space

By Da-juiceman |

This place resembles a dozen other burger joints, loud music, big beer selection, and a focused menu of burgers/salads/fries. The execution of the burgers is what stands out: quality grass fed beef, perfectly portioned (bigger than a slider, smaller than "two hours later regret" sized), with a fluffy bun that absorbs sauces and juices. My favorite is the Roasted Hatch Green Chile burger - a perfect melange of flavors (Spice! Mineral! Salt! Savory!) and textures (Gooey egg! Smooth pepper! Tender beef! Crispy bacon!). The aged cheddar burger similarly shines, with the vinegary snap of balsamic charred onions brightening the sharp cheese and meats. Fries are solid (not great), milkshakes rich and satisfying. This is the neighborhood burger joint worth a trip even if not in your neighborhood.

Disappointing Experience

By pdmse |

The burgers were not as great as I had hoped. I had the bison burger with the blueberry barbeque sauce. I thought the burger was lacking flavour. The parmaesan truffle fries were amazing though! The tables are set up very close to one another so your neighbors will be able to hear what you're talking about.

My new favorite burger place!

By Kids Are A Trip |

A friend took me here for lunch. Loud, busy, crowded, but great food and service. Had a burger with blue cheese and fried onions (yum) and we tried sweet potato fries and fries with sea salt and pepper. Nothing disappointed. Good beer selection, good vibe too. It may have been my first visit, but it won't be my last!

Nice burger option in Chicago

By Jon O |

DMK Burger Bar is a great option for burgers in a city that has many great options. I wouldn't travel a long distance to eat here, but if you're in the neighborhood, don't hesitate. The beer list is pretty straightforward - lots of domestic/local craft beers, yet no international options. The burgers are definitely the highlight here. I had the grass-fed double beef burger with lettuce, tomato, raw onions, bread & butter pickles, mayo, and swiss cheese. This thing was amazingly delicious. The burgers are not huge, so if you are hungry, go with the double patty. Also, the menu is A la carte, so if you want fries, you will need to order those. They have several great french fie variations; our group ordered the parmesan fries with truffle cream, sea salt and black pepper fries, and the sweet potato fries with lemon tobasco aioli. All three were great. The atmosphere at the restaurant is fine; nothing special really. If you love burgers, check this place out!

Delicious!

By Arleen1013 |

We had an excellent meal at DMK. The burgers are huge, so we had the deviled eggs and split a burger and fries. It was plenty of food, I was stuffed! They also have a great cocktail and beer list and are in a busy area with lots to do.

Best Burger and Martini

By Ditch2015 |

I LOVE their turkey burger...it's sooo moist and delicious!! Their bartender also makes the best dirty martini...slivers of ice, perfect blue cheese stuffed olives. Their other burgers, specials are so good and it's just a really cool place. It is loud/echoy...kind of club like but very cool place. Might be a cool place for a date if you're going for a casual/trendy place.

best sweet potato fries!

By csisken |

everything from the service to the food was great! make sure to try at least one type of fries while you are there. The sweet potato fries were my favorite!

Delicious burgers

By jenluvsthesun |

We had the bison burgers. They were delicious. I had an egg, onions, and goat cheese on mine in a lettuce wrap, and another person in our group had the bison burger with regular cheese and a bun. The fries were very tasty.

Worth it

By DWhite815 |

Great bar. Tables are a little close so I sometimes felt like I was in other people's conversations. Our server was great and the food was delicious. I got the bison burger and truffle fries which no one can argue with. You'll be plenty full. My boyfriend got the Patty Melt and that was also full of flavor. It's a quick and easy walk from the Wellington brown/purple line. I can always appreciate real grass-fed meat.

Big & tasty portions!

By TrWorldTraveler |

DMK have great properties with friendly staff. After dining @ Fish bar, couple days later, we had an early dinner @ Burger bar. Their beer selection is very good. Their burgers and fries are yummy. Keep in mind that the portions are quite big. Recommended...

Love their burgers and Amish blue cheese fries

By Ana A |

Great service, great food. A bit on the $$side but worth every penny. Only been there for lunch , a little loud even for lunch time. Sweet potato fries are also well worth it.

Wonderful burgers!

By FlemishPolska |

I've been to DMK twice so far and I will definitely return. It's pricey for burgers, but they are more than JUST BURGERS. They're amazing; they melt in your mouth, the flavors are fantastic, they are big. The fries are additional; you have to get them topped! DMK makes its own rue-based cheese sauces from real cheese and it is so hard to stop eating. They also have some great mac and cheese and FANTASTIC milkshakes - including peanut butter! Also, they serve food LATE - midnight on a Sunday! It is very loud (as it is also a bar), it can get pricey depending on what you order, they do not split checks (but will let you use multiple cards) and although the service is mostly great, it was slow here or there...so one star got docked. Oh! And your cell signal might not be very good inside the restaurant, but they do have free WiFi - just ask for the password!

Excellent but ....

By Mary Kay T |

This is a great place for everything but talking! The hostess is awesome - she made us a table for 6 by putting other tables together. The waitress was great - Harley, thank you! The great girl that brought drinks and checked on us at the end of the meal - really likeable!!! The food was awesome! The truffle aioli is to die for. Burgers - all of them - were fantastic. The ONLY bad feature, like everyone has said is the volume of the music. Talking is definitely optional.

Loud venue but fab burger

By H C |

Easy evening with friends, stopped in for a quick burger. Loud but has a good vibe; maybe try adding thick sponge underneath the tables to absorb some of the noise! All that said, had the Bison burger and it was perfect. Parmesan truffle fries were to die for. Definitely worth a visit!

Great burgers and beer in lake view!

By Jenn M |

Never disappointed when I visit DMK. It is a must visit when in Lake View. I recommend the turkey burger and Parmesan truffle fries. They also have tons of great beer available and usually a special burger of the month.

Yumyum

By chibutterfly |

My beloved and I have very different taste in burgers but we both appreciate a well crafted one. The service at the bar is always friendly and the well thought out burgers are pretty magically delicious.

Good burgers

By Amanda V |

The burgers here were delicious. The veggie burger was well done which is always nice to see from a burger joint. The staff was friendly and the place was relaxed. A note that the French fries are cooked in beef fat so they’re not vegetarian 👍🏻

Best Burgers in the State

By idlework |

Always swing by DMK when I am in Chicago. Has never disappointed. Shakes and sweet potatoe fries are a must to accompany these great burgers. Stopping here is a MUST. (My favorite is the #4, I LOVE an egg on my burger)

Disappointing

By Bill S |

I’d heard a lot about this place so I had pretty high expectations going in. Unfortunately, it was miserable. The food took forever and arrived over cooked, service was slow, and it was so loud I could not carry on a conversation. Too many good burger places in Chicago to waste time on lame experiences.

Grass fed beef, intense flavor, attentive staff, top notch cocktails

By AnonymousBean |

We were running late for a show at The Vic, and our server was attentive to our plight. We literally had to shovel the food into our mouths, which was not difficult because the burgers were incredibly flavorful. I wish I could have savored the taste longer, so we made a pact to go back asap. I had the #1 burger which has BBQ sauce, bacon and cheddar. This is an eyes roll back into your head kind of burger. The parmeasan fries were perfectly crisp and hot and my cocktail, the Shore Leave (rum and passionfruit) was better than a lot of drinks I've had at specialty cocktail bars. Just eat it.

Excellent Lunch Find

By SchnauzerBridget |

We loved everything about DMK… our server, Max, with his Johnny Cash voice, the yummy grilled cheese and Mac N Cheese (cheese makes everything great!) Also, when I accidentally spilled my own glass of wine, it was quickly replaced without charge!

Great Burger Place in Chicago neighborhood

By Kathryn G |

We went for lunch on a sunday with our teenage son. The grass fed burgers were delish! The other offerings included a veggie burger or bison at no additional charge. Fries were tasty and crisp. I enjoyed a ginger pineapple soda and my son liked his peanutbutter shake. Dining is casual and tables fairly close together. Families with babies, college kids and couples added to the dining room mix. We waited 20" at 11:30 on a Sunday morning - so do go early or just settle in for the wait -you will enjoy the food.

"One of the 10 best burgers in America"

By Taylor B |

Since David Morton and chef Michael Kornick opened DMK Burger Bar & Fish Bar in 2009, it has accumulated an impressive array of awards from "One of the 10 best burgers in America" to "One of the five best burger concepts in America" to"Chicago's most iconic burger" to "Best Fries in Chicago." Located at 2954 North Sheffield Avenue, in the Lakeview neighborhood, it is a trendy scene where creative burgers go with fries, house-made sodas, craft cocktails, wine and beers. Kornick, a five-time James Beard nominated chef, specializes in grass-fed burgers, chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow and peanut butter shakes and salt and pepper, parmesan truffle and Wisconsin cheddar and scallion fries. How about the #1 BBQ sandwich, grass-fed beef with aged cheddar, smoked bacon, charred red onion and Rufus Teague's BBQ sauce? On my most recent visit with friends, we also sampled the #8 Classic, grass-fed beef with iceberg lettuce, marinated tomato, pickled red onion, bread and butter pickles, mayo and America cheese on a flour dusted potato bun. Three other favorites are the #9 Patty Melt with grass-fed beef, smoked bacon, charred red onion, smoked Gouda and LeRoy's Remoulade on grilled rye, the #7 Big DMK with grass-fed beef, double patty, triple decker, American cheese, pickles, onions and special sauce and the #11 Rambler with grass-fed beef, American cheese, smothered onions, mushrooms, smoked bacon and garlic/bacon aioli. Start with chili-rubbed onion strings and wings.

Nothing special

By Tina Tomas |

Poor customer service with average food. I had lunch and ordered burger and fries and after few bites stopped to eat. I even didnt take the meal to go. I hope they get better in what they do. Otherwise the location is great, everything is in there hands to improve the quality and the atmosphere.

Nice dinner

By Qino2 |

Had dinner at the Navy Pier location after watching the America's cup. The manager greeted and seated us, very nice guy. Our server was very nice also, and we sat outside on a beautiful day. I had the chili rubbed blue cheese burger and asked for some jalapenos on the side--nice and spicy! We also got the parmesan truffle fries which were very yummy. Overall a nice experience!

Very good burgers. Kinda pricey

By NickGottier |

Had a great time here. Food was great and the menu is creative. Food and drinks are kinda pricey but I feel it was worth it. Not touristy at all. Ideal for a smaller crowd given the limited seating.

One of the Best Burgers Ever!

By lzemanek91 |

This was probably one of the best burgers I have ever tasted. Loaded with flavor, juicy patties, and cooked perfectly. And the portion size is excellent! On top of that, the service was outstanding, there was an excellent drink selection, and prices weren't even that bad. What a great find in the heart of Chicago!

Simply the best

By Jim |

The food is absolutely amazing! I went with a group of 5 guys on a Saturday night, we waited for about 50 mins before a table was ready. Its a small place so be prepared to wait for a table if you have more than 2 to 3 people in your group. They do have a good selection of craft beers; I am not a craft beer drinker and even I found something good to drink. I ordered the #1 burger as a double, it was a lot of food but very good. We also ordered the Wisconsin Cheddar & Scallion fries.... WOW. This is real cheddar with tons of flavor! I highly recommend ordering them. For 5 guys our bill was $120, that included a few beers. This place is a great place to go with a group of friends. If your anywhere near this place you need to stop in.

Best burger in Chicago

By Sarah F |

After seeing the parmesan truffle cream fries on diners, dives and drive ins we had been wanting to taste the magic of this amazing Parmesan cream sauce and the legendary experience at DMK burger bar. If you are in the mood for a lively environment, with cozy tables set up in this neighborhood joint this is the perfect place for late night dining or that mid day burger craving. The restaurant has everything you could ask for in a burger and your fry selections varies from lemon aioli to Parmesan cream reviewed by Guy Fieri himself! The turkey burger is very good and however you ask for your burger to be cooked they will deliver! This will be our neighborhood staple for as long as they continue to serve the best burgers and crafts brews in town!

Excellent burgers and fries!

By BAXTEP |

We went here after seeing triple D episode over the holidays. Party of 6, Monday evening (around 6:30pm). We were seated right away, no wait, which was great. We ordered parmesan truffle and sweet potato fries to start and each of us had a burger. I really liked number 6 (as in the picture). It was very juicy, grass fed beff, great fresh bread, and awesome fixings. I went for a double patty one and it was enough to suppress my cravings. I would definitely come back for more!

Yum.

By MadameHourquebie |

Some of the best service I've had at more of a neighborhood bar. Sit at the bar, pull up a chair and enjoy dinner there to avoid a wait. Share some fries but get your own burger. ALL of them are good!

The food was good

By Erin B |

The menu was simple... burgers and some seafood. Moderate pricing. Burger ordered well done was mostly pink in the center. Fish and chips was good. Overall a decent meal for the price.

Loud atmosphere, but a wonderful burger

By Hoosiernut_9 |

We waited for 30 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. We had a plain cheeseburger, one with BBQ and one Veggie. All of the burgers were awesome. The buns were simply fantastic. Tons of beer choices. Milkshakes were great too. I've seen a lot of mentions of their cheese fries. They were very good, but not the best I've ever had. Basic hand-cut fries with a little cheese. I would say they fries were slightly over-rated and a little disappointing. Make sure you get a burger though!

good bison burgers, but terrible parking

By Danesha G |

Was touring Chicago with hubby & came to have lunch here after Navy Pier based on recommendations. Now the food is tasty, but def not worth $14-$16 just for a burger. They seem to be your average 'trendy, hip' place. The combination of sauce & toppings they put on their specialty burgers & fries (extra/seperate charge) is definitely different and worth an experience, but be prepared for only 1 server, low lit dining area and difficult parking (street parking only and permit required from 6pm to 6am). Our bison burgers were tasty and not greasy at all. However, that is to be expected with bison meat as opposed to ground beef. Our fries were cooked well and not too crispy nor soggy. The wing appetizers we ordered were very small. Like, 2 bites max small. Was expecting more meat for the price. Again, worth the experience to try something different, but frustrating when you need to find parking or trying to read the menu.

Best Bison Burger Ever!

By Connor11_7 |

My daughter and I each had the Bison Burger with goat cheese and blueberry ketchup and it was flavorful and juicy....cooked perfectly! Sometimes bison burgers are a little dry because the have less fat (but good Omega-3s) but not these! Honestly they were so huge we could have shared one. We shared the fries with truffled cream sauce. Yum! My husband had the cheese burger and regular fries. I had red wine, my husband had a beer and our adult daughter had some sort of lemonade that was made in house that she did not care for. When our server (who was excellent all around) noticed she wasn't drinking it she offered to get her something else but my daughter decided just to stick with her water. When we got the bill she didn't charge us for the lemonade. The food, service, and ambiance are great....we also love DMK's Country BBQ and can't wait to try their fish restaurant next door the next time we visit Chicago.

My Trivia Bar

By Clay G |

I come to DMK for trivia a few times a month. Usually I just drink some beer or snag a milkshake, but every once in a while I decide to get a full meal and it delivers. The sunrise burger was one of the best burgers I’ve had in my life, but I just wish I had had more of it. Overall, DMK exists in that awkward price range where it’s not cheap but I’m not quite comfortable paying the prices for the meal and a side because it’s not quite a luxury spot either. Maybe that’s just a me problem, but that’s how I am.

Darn good burger and a family friendly atmosphere

By Professore2012 |

I was in Chicago for a conference and cooped up in my hotel for a weekend. Once it was over I took a stroll down to Navy Pier for some sunshine and fresh air. It was Memorial Day weekend so the place was hopping! I went to DMK because of their grass fed burgers. It was a busy day and there was a bit of a wait for a table. It was well worth it! The waitstaff was very friendly and the hostess kept apologizing for the wait. I have some dietary restrictions so I couldn't quite have any of the combinations in the menu. But that wasn't a problem. They were very willing to make my burger as I wanted it. The burger was great, tasty and cooked just right. The atmosphere is fun and family friendly. Definitely pop in if you're in the area.

No Hype, Just Right

By Matt C |

The burgers at DMK are spot on. They have some creative options (including blueberry BBQ sauce paired with goat cheese). The food is on the higher priced side, so it's not a place I would visit weekly. Service has been exceptional, and the mood is nice for a date or visit with friends. They offer a wide variety of craft beer options (mostly bottles/cans). If you are looking for good burgers in the lakeview area DMK is your place.

A good quick place to eat at Navy Pier

By sdk |

Cod fish sandwich and fish tacos pretty good. Kids burger was a joke one meat patty the size of a silver dollar on two hunks of hard bread. Kids chicken tenders like you'd find anywhere. Adult drink list was good, nice variety. Kids really enjoyed the shakes...both had vanilla.

great atmosphere and tasty Burger

By bobmarji |

I searched tripadvisor "before I go to chicago" for the top burger joints in chicago, I had several choices but am glad I choose DMK. the atmosphere is great, the service is fast and efficient and most of all the Burger was mouth watering and tasty "loved the Buns". try the "BIG DMK" it is delicious :)

good burgers

By Mcmlix1959 |

After dropping off a rental car at Enterprise on the same block, I was hungry and headed towards Belmont to gran something to eat. I stumbled across this joint and did not know what it was or what it looked liked, could not see through the window from the street. I decided to give it a shot, and I'm glad I did. My burger was excellent and my partner's patty melt was just as good. By all means. go there. you'll enjoy it and the prices are very affordable. The atmosphere was young, hip and happenin'

Best Burger in town!

By Missy |

I visit Chicago a few times a year and I must say this is one place I try to eat during each visit. The burgers here are amazing and they have a great variety on the menu. They have a huge variety of sides as well.

Great pregame burgers

By Debb J |

We learned about this place on DDD and it did not disappoint. The portions are big so you can definitely share the sides.

Great Burgers and Sides

Had an outstanding number 4, nice kick to the burger and the egg on top - well it topped it off. Recommended to us by a Lincoln Park resident and boy was he on the money. Had the Chicago fries with parmesan and truffle sauce too - out of this world. My companions had their own numbers, I believe 8's and they loved them too - chased with mac and cheese. Prices are great and you probably noticed ordering by the numbers is the theme as the place is number one. Our server Taylor rocked and kept the drinks filled. A great place to eat and by the way the buns are made by their own Southside baker - awesome!

Awesome

Well this is one is worth the 5 stars, definitely a huge menu that you just don't know what to ask. Big, delicious burgers, go get one!

Over the top friendly loving staff

By 3Cousins |

I love the spacious dining room with the most amazing, friendly, hospitable young staff. They brought my service dog water, snacks and lots of attention. I loved the burgers and beer that I was craving and truly hit the spot. Our server Abbey couldn't have been kinder. We stopped in because we're shopping for a condo in that area and I really hope we find one near this place to make it our second home.

Amazing food.

By Derick C |

Amazing food and great service! The beer was good and the burger was amazing. Very good service and decent prices.

Navy Pier Restaurant (not listed)

By Martyn E |

Small restaurant, wide selection of beers. Had a local light ale called Green Line as described tasted of citrus, but did not also say tasted like dishwater. USD7 for what looked like a pint glass (but no markings) and was filled to 1inch of the top with a gassy head. Burger was tasty with added pastrami and saukraut. Fries were rustic and served with a firey tomato sauce. Pleasant service, but location wasted by being built for winter opening, so cocooned from the warm evening and lake - inside you could have been anywhere downtown or in a mall.

Burgers, Beers and Fries OH MY

By Ben N |

This is mostly beer, burgers and fries. It is what it is. The burgers are pricey for just a burger and they're more patties and not a hearty burger. The plate also DOES NOT come with fries. So you order those extra. Five different fries, that were all good. Service was very slow at the table, but very fast at the bar. Didn't wait too long for food, just for someone to take our order. Friendly staff though. You;re looking at about $10-12/burger and $4 for fries. Beers are reasonably priced.

Wow! And I am a picky eater!

By Kathleen S |

A place where earplugs might be advisable if you are old and still have hearing. Otherwise a crazy cozy place on Sheffield with limited parking great atmosphere limited selection on the menu BUT the best Mac and cheese and burger ever. The flavors will send you over the top. Beers (not a beer drinker). Galore! Some mixed drinks young and real young and then me a category all by myself. I really highly recommend dropping by elegant and casual with uniqueness found in Chitown. Bring a flashlight if you have a need to read the menu otherwise let loose and come hungry

Great place for a Burger and a drink

By JasonMcfly |

Where do I even begin with this place. The burgers are as fresh as it gets, the selection is top notch, oh…. And the drinks… perfection. This place is certainly not your run of the mill burger joint. Funky atmosphere, great location tucked away in Lakeview. I live in the neighborhood and frequent this place a lot, certainly worth checking out if you are looking for a good burger and cool crowd.

Great burgers

By ThePowerCouple98 |

The menu has a delicious variety of burgers and other food items. The french fries are incredible (highly recommend the sweet potato fries). Great drink selection. Only negative is that they play the music so loud that you cannot have a conversation with your table mates without having to raise your voice.

Great burgers and beer

By Aaron G |

DMK is one of my favorite go-tos for a burger and beer in Chicago. -It's on a beautiful neighborhoody stretch of Sheffield. -Inviting dark tavern atmosphere that is always bustling with a lot of energy. -Always good rotating beers on tap. They also have fun seasonal milkshake specials and interesting homemade sodas--we just tried a vanilla ginger one that was delicious! -Burger menu is packed with unusual combinations. I like the bison burger with goat cheese and a blueberry sauce. I also like a Mexican-influenced one that has chorizo. -Fries are great--and I like you can get half orders so you can try different kinds. The truffle fries with cheese on top are to die for!

Good Burger.....but Not Great

By deniseg12345 |

My 26 year old daughter and I grabbed lunch here and while the burgers were pretty good, for a burger place, I expected more. They were "fine", just not as good as I would have hoped. The decor is quite cool (hipster?) and there was a varied wine and beer selection as well and the wait staff was attentive. A good stop, but really, just average.

Went here on a whim, loved it

By John K |

We wanted to go to a different place, but they were closed for lunch. We went around and found the DMK. The burgers are amazing and would definitely come again, especially for their sweet potato fries.

Wow! Such a good burger!!

By Michelle P |

Wow! Such a good burger!! The sweet potato fries were fabulous!! I would definitely recommend eating here!

Delicious burger

By cesmerlot |

My partner and I ate here on our first night in Chicago. The place is very simply decorated but offers very tasty burgers with side dishes - we chose sweet potato fries which were really good. Service was good and a great range of drinks especially local beer. Would definitely return if I am ever in Chicago again.

Great burgers, expect a line and noise on weekends

By John T |

This is my go to place for burgers in my neighborhood. They have a great menu with variety. As a lunch spot its great. Also, for any week night it makes a nice date spot. For weekends, you should have earplugs.

Delicious burgers, fun atmosphere

By Tracy G |

Like many other reviewers, I must agree...the burgers are delicious! So many unique flavor combinations & texture variations, it was hard to choose. I got the Bison burger and it was very different and tasty. The burgers we had (9 of us) were hot, delicious and for us females, large enough in size that several got "to go" bags. The Parmesan Truffle french fries were great as well. Don't miss out on those! We also split a side of Mac & Cheese 2 ~ gruyere, smoked bacon, charred balsamic red onions. WOW! Talk about a jazzed up mac & cheese! We all had beer, so I can't speak for their drinks, but they looked good. As another member mentioned, it is loud, noisy & crowded but hey, that's sometimes the fun of it. I wouldn't want to go there for a romantic meal, but for family & friends, DMK is great and a repeat establishment when we're in Chicago.

Spectacular burgers and shakes

By revlisad |

Yes, the hype is true. We split a number 11- grass fed beef (juicy, perfect temperature and char), American cheese, sauteed onions/mushrooms, garlic aioli, crispy bacon, soft bun. We split several small fry orders. Go for sweet potato or parmesan truffle. Do not forget a shake. The shake of the month for December was gingerbread. Delicious all the way down to the gingerbread man diving into the glass. Again we shared. Handicap friendly. Attentive and friendly staff. Full bar. Bar, table, hightop seating.

Great burgers and fries. Milkshakes too.

By dtdp19 |

Very nice place. Good quality food and milkshakes were hand made. Shared a couple orders of fries between the four of us. Definitely a place to go again.

Great Time

By Brandis-Dandies |

We ate at the Navy Pier location with our kids. We started off with a couple of drinks and ordered the blue cheese/bacon fries and the parmesan truffle fries. Hand made fries topped with yummy goodness. My picky son even tried the blue cheese/bacon fries, and said he would eat those again. We tried the chorizo burger, portobello burger, and patty melt. All great burgers! Service was exceptional too. The drink menu was quite extensive and their homemade libations were awesome! It was so good, we decided to come back the next day for drinks only with some other friends. Had just about 1 of everything on the drink menu and would definitely return when in Chi-town again.

Great place

By JenY2012 |

This restaurant was a highlight of our trip to Chicago. My husband and I stopped in for dinner after the Cubs game on aFriday night. it was an easy walk from the redline/Belmont area. We sat at the bar and enjoyed our bartenders. It was a very popular place and busy. It did get noisy, but it was festive noisy. The menu is limited if you don't want a burger but creative and you can add a fried egg to every order. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again.

My favorite burger place in Chicago

By Elise_NC |

Not that I try burgers everywhere...but we go elsewhere and they can never compare to DMK. I am pretty classic - just like the #8 ( I think). Old fashioned burger. The grain fed beef is tasty and they have the best buns. Pricing is great. Fries have to be ordered - truffles or sea salt / black pepper. Warning: it is always loud in here (music), but the meal is worth it.

Best Burgers Ever

By sdoddsayers |

These burgers are fantastic. Worth the wait. Our table ordered burgers, salmon burger and patty melt. Everyone said they were fantastic. Loved the Parmesan truffle fries! The staff was friendly, efficient but busy. Figuring out how to come back here again!

Great grass-fed burgers, craft beers, and epic fries!

By ElTheTone |

The burgers are great, hands down! Their fry combos are simple but epic. They also do great in the craft beer and cocktail arena! They also have some killer featured shakes. They can accommodate groups of 4 and I bet up to 8 pretty well. The service is always prompt, accurate, and quick. They have two TVs playing pretty classic 80s & 90s movies. It can get a bit loud during the evening hours. If you get their before 6P during the week, you won't have to fight a crowd. For those taking the el train, you can get off at the wellington brownline stop. This is a top burger stop in Chicago!

great burger & fries

By Seb S |

I have been there for my second time. The Burger& fries are delicious, u should try the sweet potatoe fries. Sometimes u must for a free seat but this is ok. I highly recommend a visit @DMK Burgers. The best way to get there is the brown or purple line and leave the CTA at Wellington station.

Really Good Burger, Quick Service

By Christopher C |

Here they have a lot of options to choose from when it comes to burgers. You can change up the patty and go away from regular beef with turkey, bison or portabello mushroom options. Make it a single, double or tripple. The fries are also a good option to add with four different varsities to choose from with a basket being good for a table! While I loved the food, the environment was too loud. I understand that it is a bar, but its also a great place to eat. It was really hard to carry on a conversation at the table. The music seemed to get louder as the environment did. I would recommend this place to people who are less concerned about talking to your family/friends and just want to have a really good time and enjoy a nice burger!

Great place to go before a Cubs game!

By loonlover3 |

The burger was very good - the patty was a little on the small side. The bun was awesome. The hand cut fries were also very good. Very friendly service.

For a football game burger, lights out!

By dk2000_10 |

Best burger you can find at Soldier Field or maybe any venue. Everything is fresh with a terrific flavor. Just excellent.

Delicious Burger + Movies

By DSHBOLDLY |

DMK Bar is a burger place for most generations. While enjoying a juicy burger and fries, DMK will play such gems as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. What could be better than a fat burger with the holy grail? This spot is a MUST VISIT in Chicago for any residents or visitors. Your burger dreams do come true at DMK. Feel free to add an egg on top.

So overrated I wanted to laugh

By Marcphoto |

If you think this is a great burger, then I just don't understand what your level of quality burgers are. Do you think McDonalds has great burgers, well they are better than the ones at DMK. I had the overpriced Bison burger. Man, what a disappointment. First off the patties are paper thin, go to any bar in this city that serves food and you'll find a bigger patty. Fries are mediocre at best. Overall this place is just so overrated its not even funny. Don't waste your time or money, go to your local drive thru and you'll be better suited or better yet go wait 2 hours at Kuma's Corner and at least you will leave with a full stomach.

Hatch green chili!!!!!!!

By SamAdamsGhost |

The Hatch green chili is excellent! I've never been to a place in Chicago that serves this fantastic NM green chili. Great Cobb salad and all the burgers got thumbs up. Good service. The only minus were the meals not served at the same time. Going back for the Hatch green chili!

Chorizo Burger!

By Karen W |

The chorizo burger is definitely my recommendation. The fresh baked buns are not your typical hamburger bun- much better. The added guacamole really compliments this burger. Had an order of the fried onion strips too. Battered lightly and great seasoning served with homemade ketchup. Nice selection of beer. We were there on a Monday around noon, plenty of seating and super waitress. I hear weekends and evenings there may be a wait time so plan accordingly .

A must-try in Chicago

By eowyn1113 |

This place came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Both the burgers and side items are flavorful and creative, and the service is outstanding. Our party of four got there at 6:00 on a Friday and had no trouble getting seated right away (though it looked like it got crowded as the night went on; with as popular as this place is, I wouldn't get there any later than 6 on a weekend). Our server was cheerful and enthusiastic, and upon hearing that it was our first visit, he sent us a complementary order of fried pickles and okra (which were DELICIOUS). Two of us got the bison burger, which was excellent, and another got the lamb burger, also amazing. I liked that the burger patties are on the thinner side, so you're not breaking your jaw on a super-think burger, and it probably helps them cook better, too. We got two delicious orders of fries: one with blue cheese and bacon, and another with Parmesan cheese and truffle oil. I'm a hard cider fan and was delighted that they had Crispin's, a domestic favorite. My companions seemed very happy with the beer selection, too. Long story short: try this place!

upscale burgers

By IllinoisFamilydude |

Stopped by for a bite to eat following a play on Navy Pier. DMK on Sheffield has a club feel to it with close tables and a very loud atmosphere. If you're interested in a meaningful conversation with someone - this is not the venue. If you're looking for a tasty burger and beer - pull up a seat. The menu is a la carte so it's easy to drop $25-30 a person. I had the bison burger which was well seasoned, perfectly cooked and the blueberry bbq sauce with pickled red onions were tasty. Not a flavor combo I would of considered but it works well with slight sweetness of the blueberry tempering the acidity of the onions. Having cooked several hundred pounds of bison in my life I can say their preparation was ideal. Wasabi coleslaw added a little heat to a crisp, tasty side dish. The hamburger buns are fresh made and dusted with flour. While the flour provides an attractive appearance it leaves a film on the palate - perhaps I should have washed it down with more beer. My wife had a burger with balsamic glazed onions which she enjoyed thoroughly. I think this type of onion preparation will become a grilling staple for us this summer. The boys had a Big DMK multi decker, cheese laden, burger extravaganza which kept them busy the entire meal. Fries were crunchy and the cheese they came with is not the type you squeeze from a bag. Cheese that tasted like cheese. We tried the mac and cheese #1 with a great cheese flavor but the macaroni was over cooked. We rounded out the meal with their famous ice cream shakes. I thought the chocolate and vanilla flavors came up short but the espresso shake was dynamite as was the chocolate/banana combo. Overall, a good experience and makes my list for a second visit!

Excellent!

By loriar |

First time to DMK and we really enjoyed the entire experience. The service was excellent and food extremely tasty. The atmosphere was fun. We had stopped in on Monday evening and the restaurant was busy. The manager came by several time to ensure that we had everything we needed. And our server was very knowledgeable. Would definitely come back next time we are in Chicago. Only slight issue was that lighting was so low that it was difficult to read the menu. But the food definitely made up for any inconvenience.

burgers +

By tylerbanks1 |

My family and I️ ate here tonight at the navy pier location. My husband and son both got burgers that were good. I️ order a salad with chicken. I️ quickly noticed the chicken was pink and hard to cut due to it being raw. When our server finally came back to the table I️ let her know. She offered to have another chicken cooked and brought out for my salad. I️ said no thank you as the raw chicken had already touched the lettuce on the salad. She took the salad and then a few minutes later comes back to the table still holding the salad. She stated her manager she the chicken was not raw. It was supposed to look pink because of the type of chicken they get. And asked if I️ would like my salad back. I️ again said no thank you. I️ was not impressed by managements approach on this. I️ am not one to send food back or be picky but if my meat is not fully cooked I️ will. I️ would not recommend getting anything other than a burger here.

Never again.

By Andrew G |

So the flavour are good and we did eat at DMK soldier field but still... my burger was so over cooked it should have been served at hockey game as a puck. Wife's burger was undercooked and she had to toss it. Service is crap and we waited 10 minutes to order and then they send you to second line where you wait 10-15 minutes to get food. Cannot pick up beer and food in same line so would have waited 30 minutes plus if there was one of us.

Hubby's bday

By Veronica |

It was his choice- bday meal and it was a great choice! We took the kids! It was a pretty dark setting. Seating was tight, it was definitely a college town feel although I don't know if there was a college around lol. But it was very young cool awesome place. Now the food... It was definitely delicate delicious... The Kobe beef the drinks the fries all good! You won't be there long so plan on other things to do if going to Chicago.

Excellent Burgers and Sides

By LindaInEvanston |

LOUD; if you can't stand the noise stay away. Other than that the food and drinks were good. Expensive BUT excellent ingredients, which explains the pricing. Only oddity was ... while they have wonderful boozy ice cream shakes ... they didn't offer any with Bailey's. No, they don't serve Bailey's or any Bailey's-like ingredient. Suggested alternatives: Have some bourbon they suggested (yuck!). Coffee liqueur (I don't like coffee flavor). Finally spiced rum; that was a good call in their Cinnamon Toast Crunch shake. I'm 100% behind that.

Give it a try!

By Paula Z |

The veggie burger was excellent-9 out of 10. My husband is a tough customer and he only gave the meat burger a 7 out of ten. The service was excellent and the waitress was helpful and professional. We got the burger's every quickly.

Excellent!

By Lisa P |

First of all let me tell you I'm not a burger person. However, last summer I was near Wrigley Field so because it was on Drivers, Diners & Dives I thought I'd try it! It was fabulous! I ordered the Bison burger with Goat Cheese and the house fries. Amazing! I told my husband about it because I couldn't believe I liked a burger place that much! Today we were in the city again with my son so we decided to go so he could check it out. Once again-incredible! Although he thought the burger patties were thin and would recommend ordering the double. (After each burger it has two sizes) I would highly recommend this place. While they have a lot of elevated burgers, you can also go basic for the little guys :)

Great menu

By betsy o |

My boys loved their burgers and I really like the crispy portabella burger. Beware everything is a la carte so it's a bit pricy.

Average burger

By JavzJ |

This is a good burger joint. VERY loud, definitely not an atmosphere to have a date. I was excited about trying burgers made out of "grass fed" beef. They were ok but to me didn't taste any different from a regular burger. The only good thing I guess you can add an egg to all the burgers, that was tasty. Unless you don't drink beer don't bother to order drinks, they are not good.

Decent burger, didn't live up to the hype

By traveler26Traveler26 |

The title of my review really says it all. Between seeing this place on Triple D and all the rave Trip Advisor comments, I had high expectations. They were not met. I had the bison burger with goat cheese, pickled red onions and blueberry BBQ. The party was pressed too thin to be cook any less that medium well and I had to ask for extra onions and BBQ sauce since there was hardly either on it. After all of that, if give it a 6 out of 10. Just decent but hardly worth the trip unless you live in the neighborhood.

Better Burgers!

By GoneAgain02 |

Food delicious... nice size portions...staff great... a little crowded... can get noisy. Recommend the sweet potato or parmesan fries.... yummy!!

Add fried egg!

By christie584 |

Stopped for lunch on a Friday with a group of four. We had quick, friendly service. I ordered the Bison Burger (#5) with picked red onion and blueberry BBQ sauce. I also added fried egg. The burger was great...not the best I've ever had, but really good. The truffle fries were good too. At the end of the meal, the server brought us all a free sample of an alcoholic milkshake drink made with andes creme de menthe. I don't even like mint and I LOVED it.

Oh my goodness

By Curt G |

If I lived close to this restaurant, I would weigh a quarter ton. The special today was The Frito Bandito Burger. It was spicy enough to be extremely tasty, and the bun was small and airy enough. The only downside from my perspective, is that the music inside is too loud. There's no reason for it.

Great Burgers

By Julie B |

Went to the location inside Navy Pier. The burgers we great and the parmesan fries were outstanding! But the best thing we had was the Clam Chowder. My 2 year old wouldn't share he loved it so much!

Tasty burgers and fries

By Doverlee |

Not necessarily the perfect place to have a quiet conversation, but if you don't mind cozy quarters and some pumping music, try them out. Our family of 5 each tried a different burger and everyone was well satisfied. I really enjoyed the sea salt & black pepper fries. Grass fed beef! You can taste the difference.

Busting at the seams....

By WindyCityRay |

My friends were in from out of town and had seen DMK Burger on the Food Network channel so we decided to go! This is a pretty small location but was very cozy and the staff was very friendly. I had the number 2 burger and my friends had the 1, 10 & 14. Everyone agreed, their burgers were delicious! We shared a plate of the yummy sweet potato fries. However, the ultimate item of the day was the MILKSHAKES! We each took one to go and did not regret the decision at all!

Just average food at an extreme price. $9 for a 5oz. Cheeseburger - no fries, no cole slaw not even a slice of pickle.

By Joel W |

Save your money dine somewhere else. The food is just ok and a meal will set you back $20 per person for a tiny burger and about a dozen French fries. Total waste of time and money.

cant beat ti

By Ayden N |

This place has great food and great service. The burgers are just the right size. You have to order the sides separately, garlic fries is a must.

People rave about it, we didn't see why

By 8338y |

We had heard the Good reviews so we're expecting big things. Perhaps we expected too much. It's a specialist burger bar so I expected an amazing burger but it was just pretty average.

Awesome burgers, fries and beer

By Dustin R |

Went with a bunch of friends for the first time. I had the #4 burger (hatch green chiles, fried egg, Sonoma Jack, smoked bacon) and it was completely amazing. Burger was cooked to perfection and the entire ensemble had a great flavor. Fries were pretty good, tried all of them and my fav was the Parmesan truffle cream). Huge beer selection as well. Service was prompt and courteous. Waitress was friendly and gave great recommendations to everyone at the table. Restaurant was a little loud so discussion was difficult, but the vibe was cool.

good burgers, but...

By Dana B |

We ate here on a Monday night around 9PM. Not overly crowded and we were able to easily get a table. It was VERY DARK inside, to the point where we needed to pull out our phones and turn on the flashlight feature to even read the menus. After looking around the bar/dining area, we realized we were not the only table doing so. Our party ordered beer and mixed drinks. The beer was good, but the cocktails were not. We ordered a simple/popular cocktail, but it tasted nothing like it was supposed to. Ordered a different (easy) cocktail and it too was "off". Best to stick with beer. The burgers were really good... we had the #1 Aged Cheddar, Smoked Bacon, Charred Balsamic Red Onion, Rufus Teague's BBQ Sauce along with french fries. YUM! They have a varied burger menu with a lot of alternative options...like bison, turkey, lamb, and salmon.

Great Burger. Fun Atmosphere

By KrisK_8 |

Bottom Line: Solid burger/fries. A bit on the expensive side, but a fun place to go. Just learned of this place recently and stopped in for lunch. Atmosphere is fun and lively. It has a nice upscale neighborhood feel. Food is very good. While they have quite a few specialty/gourmet burgers, they seemed a bit too fancy and so we opted for basically a standard cheeseburger. We shared some french fries (small order was enough for the both of us to share). Burger was very well-prepared. Very juicy. Great bun. 2 Burgers, 1 Small Fry and 1 Iced Tea was $27+ tip. A bit spend for regular visits, but definitely worth the occasion trip. Service was friendly and efficient.

Yummy Burgers!!

By Dude Man |

Love these burgers and fries and so do all my friends!! Can’t go wrong with anything at DMK! Never had a bad burger of fries! Pricey though!!

Best burger ANYWHERE!!

By C. Eulalia Y |

The service is outstanding!! The server was awesome as soon as we walked in, he explained to us the menu, because its not s simple burger restaurant, there are many ingredients that play a role in the taste. He even gave us a malt on the house to pair with out burgers. The taste is better than I could have expected making this he best place in Chicago for a delicious burger.

Great Burgers - Great Staff!

By JulieJohn44 |

Burgers and fries were awesome - shakes are unbelievable! The manager brought us an order of truffle fries just so the kids could try them, and our server took my drink off the tab when she noticed I didn't drink it (bloody mary was too spicy for me). The entire staff was awesome and I highly recommend this place!

No Nonsense Burgers (+)

By Arne V |

DMK Burger Bar is just as advertised. It's just a "Burger Bar", but just so much more as well. Great variety(lamb, turkey even veggie), great value and great food preparation. Killer fries w/parmesan cheese and truffle. Sounds frou-frou, but it's very not... Place is unpretentious, staff is professional and knowledgeable. Large selection of craft beers and a nice DePaul area location. Go here for a simple well cooked/served, reasonably priced, No Nonsense Hamburger!

Second best burger my husband has ever had!

By Byngette |

This place was one of the highlights of our trip to Chicago! It was my husbands birthday and he loves burgers so we came here for dinner. Now, we had about another 5 burgers after this one on his birthday weekend, but the Bison Burger he had here was top of the list! He loves eating burgers and eating different kinds of burgers and said that the Bison Burger was definitely the second best burger he has ever had! I couldn't believe it, because usually nothing quite compares to the best one he's ever eaten, at a winery in Niagara-on-the-lake in Canada. I enjoy burgers myself, but being a Gluten Free Vegetarian(Pescatarian), it sometimes is more difficult for me to have my socks knocked off by a burger. I must say however, that the Salmon burger with the spicy Asian slaw and Thai curry sauce was unlike anything I have ever had on a burger! The gluten free bun was good and didn't crumble in my hands like some do, and the salmon was cooked perfectly. It was the winning burger of the weekend for me too! Topped off with the best and most delicious shake split between us while we gobbled down our burgers, this was a pretty amazing experience for us! Service was also amazing. Our server was knowledgeable and very friendly. Someone dropped a plate while serving food to a nearby table and we watched about 7 different staff members come over to bring mops, dust pans, paper towels, and help in any way. They really worked well as a team and it was impressive to watch. They had it cleaned up like it never happened in about 4 minutes tops with everyone pitching in. It was nice to see the staff work together. Follow them on Instagram, cause they post pictures of their specialty shakes, which switch up regularly. We had a strawberry one with colorful rainbow fruity pebbles in it because Chicago was celebrating Pride the weekend we were there at the end of the month. Seriously, don't miss this place.

Amazing Burgers!

By Davanrn |

We dined here with friends.Great funky burger menu with good beers on tap. Very good service. Fries and onion straws are excellent. Lot's of variations on the burgers.

Highly recommended

By Bill B |

Our youngest son and his wife brought us to this place and we had burger #1...a bacon/cheddar/BBQ burger that was to die for. We were looking for another but it had been removed so we took a flyer on this one. My son said it was better than the one he had before. Great burgers and beer selection...we'll be back

I saw a werewolf at DMK...his hair was perfect!

By SamAdamsGhost |

Everyone kept saying this is the place for burgers. Finally went. Outstanding! Meat. Buns. Service. I had the lamb burger. Very flavorful. Tasty onion strings. Homemade vanilla ginger soda. Excellent service.

My favorite burger place in Chicago

By money4travel |

I've read mixed reviews about DMK, but this is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Chicago. Here is what people complain about: - the wait is too long - for the price, there's not much burger First of all, the wait is long because it's good and people like eating there! The place is always packed when I go in there and to me, that's a good sign. Now, about the size of the burgers... I like the smaller size of the burger patties. When I'm finished, I don't feel so stuffed that I'm going to throw up. It's a good size burger and the bun is actually one of the things that makes it so great... nice and soft. My two favorite things on the menu: Bison burger and the sweet potato fries Overall, great food, friendly staff and a pretty amazing beer selection. The only not so great thing that I can say about DMK has to do with the atmosphere (hence the average rating)... it can get loud for some reason and it's almost hard to hold a conversation. Not really a great place if you're looking for a quiet, intimate dinner, but that's just a suggestion. Check out DMK. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Great Burger

By artickiss |

Went here for an early Sunday dinner. There was an excellent selection of beer. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and let my friends sample a few different ones. My burger was so tasty. The bun was soft and the meat was cooked just right. The french fries were to die for!!!!! Great atmosphere. Will be back soon

With so many other places to choose from, don’t waste your time and $

By Lori E |

The staff seemed friendly and that’s the only nice thing I have to say. It took forever to place an order and get drinks (and no, we weren’t overlooked). Why bother asking me how I want my burger cooked if they’re all coming out well done anyway? The food server so hurriedly set our plates down that some of our food flew off the plates and onto the table and floor. They replaced what hit the floor but not what landed on the table...yuck! For those that choose to go anyway, good luck! Hope your experience is better than ours was. We won’t return.

Just meh

By Bizzled |

The burgers were ok. Very overpriced. Did not take temperatures on it. If you get a side salad instead of fries, it's just arugula, feta, tomato, and cucumber drowning in a vinaigrette. Not very good. Just an unremarkable place that I will forget about shortly.

Check Out The Gourmet Burgers

By SUBZEROSKIDD10 |

DMK Burger Bar was featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins And Dives, and for good reason. These aren't your ordinary burgers. With so many appetizing choices, I decided on Number 5, the bison burger. The fresh goat cheese and pickled red onions really added a lot, but honestly I could not tell the difference between bison and regular hamburger, and I could not detect any blueberries in the BBQ sauce. Despite that, the burger was wonderful. I shared large side orders of the chili-rubbed onion strings and the Amish blue and smoked bacon fries. The onions were crispy, with great flavor and they reminded me of French's French Fried Onions. The fries were to die for: the creamy blue cheese mixed with the crunchy bacon over the warm fries was a unique taste sensation. The only negative aspect of DMK was the atmosphere. I understand it's called a burger "bar" but the music was too loud with blaring bass and it's not a place I could picture diners over the age of 40. Our waiter was very friendly and outgoing, he clearly enjoys his job. Overall DMK Burger Bar is an exciting restaurant that is worth your time to check out.

Disappointing food and service

By Vicki Ds |

Went here for dinner during a visit to Navy Pier. Felt "forgotten about" at our table (had to ask for a server). I was excited to splurge on a great burger. Got the bison burger and wasn't great. Someone else got the po' boy sandwich and it was mediocre and not very substantial.

Top Quality Hand Crafted Burgers

By Trip-Adviser-3000 |

Liked that each ingredient is top quality. Staff was very pleasant. Atmosphere has a a hip "club" vibe.

Near the MCL Theater

Kid friendly, bar, and burgers. Lots of sides including salads, mac and cheese, and fries. Vegetarian options. Friendly fast service. Beer menu was unique and tasty. Pumpkin pie milkshake was worth the stuffed belly.

Perfect burger

By IndyRicardo70 |

My wife, my daughter, and I each had a different burger (many options) and all agreed that they were awesome. Delicious meat, cooked perfectly on a soft, tasty roll. The french fries were also very good, and they had a nice beer selection.

Terrific food, but a bit loud

By zeffantm |

We had some terrific burgers here! My wife had the bison burger with fresh goat cheese, pickled red onions and blueberry BBQ sauce. I had the burger with the chili-rubbed onion strings, amish bleu cheese and spicy chipotle ketchup. For a side we split the fries with bleu cheese and bacon. Fantastic! There's a very good reason why Guy Fieri raved about the food here - it's well worth seeking this place out! Two words of warning: 1) Parking can be a pain, but it's worth it. 2) This place is LOUD! I really wish the owners would do something about it, as it made conversation very difficult.

Great Burgers.

By David H |

Went there a few times during our visit to Chicago. Had the Bison, Lamb and Veggie burgers. All were some of the best I have ever had. This Chicago neighborhood is blessed with so many small, great restaurants, but this is one of the best. Agree with other reviews about the loud music, but I can put up with noise and hipsters to get food like this.

I Love This Place

By Msjessegrrl |

Our baby girl came early so we spent months at the hospital around the corner. We've been to DMK many times. I think the burgers and sides are marvelous. I am a fan of the #1 and the Real number #10, the special burger that honors Cubs home games. It's a beef on burger, served with house made Gardinera and au jus on the side. My husband and I also love the green chili fries. We visited recently and found out that's a seasonal item. We live way out I. The burbs but we will make the trek I just for some of that chili. Shakes are also frrat. Service is top notch. We always feel spoiled when dining at DMK.

DMK - Great After for After the Ball Game

By Rowan F |

Stopped by after an afternoon Cubs game. Fun atmosphere, friendly staff. Large selection of burgers and beers. Very friendly staff. Fun atmosphere. No trouble getting a table. Its about 1/2 mile south of Wrigley field so its a pretty easy walk and you won't get stuck in the more crowded places near the ball park.

Bring your ear plugs!

By flyairdave |

I heard over and over how great DMK burgers were. Well, they are OK. When the noise is so loud you cannot speak with your friends, it is difficult to enjoy your dinner. The service a average, the fries were strange and their wine by the glass is overpriced. Overall, there are better, more enjoyable places.

Great burger menu

By eof025 |

We've been to DMK a couple of times now, all for lunch, no disappointments yet! Menu is great and has something for everyone. Turkey burger is delish! Bison Burger and #4, Hatch chilies and fried egg are also favorites. Fries are tasty and come in a variety of flavors. One basket is good for a table of 4.

Fries & Drinks Are All You Need

By biogirltraveling |

My boyfriend, his brother, and I decided to grab some dinner after an afternoon of drinking and gaming. His brother recommended this place and I'm so glad he did! I got the truffle macaroni and cheese, we shared the sweet potato fries with lemon tobasco aoli, and my drink of choice was the pineapple basil. We also shared their chili rubbed onion rings which were good, but not amazing. I don't quite remember which burgers each guy got, but suffice to say they were good. Boyfriend loved his espresso smoothie and bf's bro quite liked his blood orange soda. The atmosphere was a nice, trendy bar. We went around 5 or 6 and got seated right away. The food came out fresh and hot, plus like I've already stated, delicious. Noise level was up but not enough that we couldn't have a conversation. We did have to raise our voices a bit at times. I'd highly recommend the place just for the food. I'm planning on going back just for the sweet potato fries w/dip and pineapple basil drink. I would also be interested to see what they can do with some liquor.

Meh

By DK1234556 |

We sat at the bar. Took over 10 minutes to be acknowledged (hardly anyone else there). Drink selection was ok. I had the #1 burger and it was basic and not what I expected for a trendy Burger place. Have to order fries separate. Got a lot, but nothing special. On the range from amazing to awful, the staff and experience was vanilla.

DMK Burgers

By Jillibean516 |

DMK is a small little restaurant tucked away in the Lakeview neighborhood in Chicago. They are known for their burgers so that's what we came for. I had the #1 which was absolutely delicious, tender beef with great fixings. My daughter had the bison burger which she had never eaten before, and she said it tasted great as well. We ordered deviled eggs which were average and also the parmesan truffle fries which were different than any fries I have ever tasted and were addicting. The service was mediocre as it took ten minutes just to get a glass of water and another ten minutes to get a drink. To their credit, once we ordered our food, it only took a few minutes to get the deviled eggs and another 10 or maybe fifteen minutes for the meal to be served. Overall, it was a great place to have lunch/dinner. Maybe more servers might help in providing better service.

Good Burgers

By breezyg03 |

Traveled from downtown Chicago to eat these tasty burgers. Service was quick and the burgers were thinner than the slabs of meat at other places (a good thing). I like what I had and what my friend ordered, but I still have a few other places that top it. Considering how quickly we sat down and the uniqueness of it all, I'd probably revisit if in the area again. The sweet potato fries with the lemon aioli were different; I'm still trying to figure out if I liked it or not. Obviously not too bad or I wouldn't have kept eating it! Try it out! They were showing Wayne's World on the bar TVs!

At Navy Pier

By Calmac3 |

We ate lunch at the DMK Burger Bar at Navy Pier. I picked it because I heard it had been on The Sandwich King and Diners, Dives and Drive Ins. And we wanted something close to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. We were disappointed in the food, the tastes, and the cost. I ordered a single burger with cheese and bacon-$11 for a very thin grass fed patty that lacked taste. The burger does not come with fries ---everything is a la carte. My husband ordered the fish and chips. For $10 he got one small piece of cod served atop a small bed of fries in a paper container. The cod was still cold in the middle--to be fair, they did give him a new piece of cod and didn't charge for it, but I was finished with my burger before he got the new fish. My husband said the fish was tasteless. Two positives: we both loved the fries-they were tasty and delicious and staff is friendly. But we won't be back. We've had much better burgers at Steak and Shake---taste and cost wise are far superior there.

Great bergers and service!

Awesome Burger! Awesome fries. Bartenders Drew and Matt are awesome! great suggestions by them. Wanted the milkshake, but was too full from lunch!

Very Dark & weird

By CubbiesCouple2011 |

first off so dark can't even see the menu to read it!! Might want to invest in lighting or maybe your hiding something that's why you keep it so dark! Burgers where good but have had better hand crafted sodas are great! Serve is slow! Don't think I would rush back..

Fab burgers and beer

By KPS |

Had an excellent meal here recently while in the area for a beer tour. Turned up pretty late and the place was bouncing but my husband and I managed to find a good spot at the bar where we could order (the service was very good). The burgers were definitely the best we've had in a long time, and I love the fact they didn't feel the need to be several inches high and packed with everything you can think of, as is often the case nowadays. The mac and cheese and sweet potato fries were also spot on! Shame there isn't a branch in the UK...

YUM

By Caroline A |

The food is plated a little strange but its so good! Not even sure what kind of burger I had but it was amazing! Try a milkshake with whiskey, I've never had anything like that before and it was also amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Navy Pier

By foxtrot79 |

We really enjoyed this little burger bar. My husband ordered the clam chowder. It was thick, creamy and delicious. I had the crabby patty. It was also very good. The portion sizes were good, but sides don't come with the sandwiches. What really made this place memorable was the staff. We had the pleasure of sitting at the bar with the manager (we didn't get his name). He and his employees kept us laughing through our entire meal and made us feel like regulars. If we're ever in the area again we will definitely stop in.

Great Food & Service!!

Loved, loved, loved it! Great drink, great appetizer, great portabella burger! And those sweet potato fries with some zesty lemon dipping sauce OMG!! Stop here you will not be sorry!!

Found One Of Chicago's Top 4 Burger Joints Special Thank You to Hard Rock Hotel Staff

By theequalizer10 |

I ENJOY A WELL MADE BURGER almost anytime. "Yes Hard Rock serves burgers but if you want something amazingly different, you should make your way to any of the DMK Burger Bars, or Kuma's I was advised during my stay at the hotel. Needless to say before we left Chicago, we did so. It was about a 10 minute drive North and DEFINATELY WORTH The Extra Effort to get to the DMK Burger Bar. Good casual dining meal Great Friendly servicers, noisy but very friendly, safe atmosphere, perhaps because it was busy. Lots of peddle bikes outside. NO Patio. Here are the details. For a Saturday night although somewhat busy the service was timely and the delivery very fast. The plate content was smaller than I had hoped although the burger patties are about a quarter pound. large. Bottom line bring an appetite and the only thing you'll share is a large order of the parmesan fries with truffle cream [Very Tasty] Through engaging the table next to us we discovered that the pricing from locals initially seems a little high but we all agreed it was worth it. The meals we ordered : You will have to order sides separately the Burgers come Al a Carte. Number 5 which was a BISON Burger with Wisconsin cheese and Parm fries The BBQ sauce was finger licking good made with blueberries. FABULOUS. My wife ordered Number 6 THE TURKEY BURGER with jack cheese, chorizo, chipotle and guacamole with a much thinner bun. possibly ONE of the Best Values on the menu. We shared our orders. Our friends ordered a double bacon and blue cheese burger and shared it with two milk shakes. I was cut a piece of the burger without the bun and found it to be very similar to my own gorgonzola burger when I BBQ. I would put these burgers in among my top 25 of a lifetime burgers. Try it expect to spend about $25 per person with a beverage and very modest tip as the burgers with sides run about $18. Which living a tourist area is par.

DMK = OMG

By lietuva_9 |

We went to the Lakeview location on Sheffield. Greeting was quick and friendly, and service throughout our visit carried though on speed and friendly courtesy. They basically do one thing here - burgers - and practice makes perfect. The grass-fed beef really makes a difference. Our burgers were flavorful and moist, with the toppings and condiments just right. The buns are soft, none of the crunchy crusty bun nonsense. Great drinks and beer selection. Glad to see they support local charities too. My only issue was that the music could have come down a notch in volume. Prices were good for Chicago.

Great Burger Place

By Sarah C |

I love love love DMK. It is a great atmosphere and even better food. Ther servers are awesome. Great to have dinner and drinks with friends, a date, and even family friendly. I love their fries and turkey burgers.

Still best burgers in Chicago!

By TheMcGonigals |

Second time in Chicago and still absurdly in love with DMK's burgers! Frankly all the burgers are great but they do the best Veggie Burger I've ever had - it's incredible. I'll be squeezing in a 2nd and a 3rd visit before I leave Chicago again!

Yummy burgers and fries.

By James W |

I had the number one as a double patty, which is recommend against, the second party takes away from the balance of flavours. It could also use more bacon. I also got the Parmesan fries, they were amazing! Price was ok, service ok, would go again but not much of a place to seek out as a tourist.

Good food and good location.

By Theresa M |

Music was too loud but food really good. Hamburgers were delicious! I would recommend to friends. In a good area of Chicago.

Good food, way too loud

By gdawh10 |

I met up with some of my old friends at DMK while I was visiting Chicago. The food was good and they had lots of types of burgers to choose from. The service was also great. The building was interesting, but it was a terrible choice to catch up with people. We could barely hear one another (we're all in our mid twenties... so I dont think our hearing was the issue). I only gave an average rating, because of this... I cant think of too many occasions where this would be a plus for a restaurant trip though, so I dont think it is unfair. If you want to enjoy the company that you are with, then I would recommend somewhere else.

Beer, Burgers & Sweet Potato Fries

By Christopher H |

This is a pretty cool place serving really good burgers. We arrived about 6.30pm on a Saturday evening and had a slight wait before a table was available. I ordered a No.2 burger and my girlfriend had a No.1 burger – both were really tasty. We shared a large side of sweet potato fries which were delicious! There is an extensive beer menu which is always a good thing. Service was friendly and efficient. The only slight negative was that the music was probably slightly too loud.

Oh Man this was GOOD!!!!!!

By buznbro15 |

My wife and I recently stayed 5 nights in Chicago and this place was high on our list of must do's. We had actually saw this place on a television show called Diners, Drive In's and Dives. From the moment we saw the program, it was a must do, so we did! We arrived on a Wednesday in the early afternoon and thankfully it wasn't too crazy busy. Our server was Joe and he was an absolute pleasure from beginning to end! In any event we soon got down to business. Drink wise my wife went with the Vander Mill Cidar, while I went with the Ommegang Witte beer and as expected, both were very tasty! Burger wise, my wife ordered the Portobello burger while I had the Bison burger. OH MAN....was this ever good. It got even better, while we knew we also wanted to have the onion strings, we could not decide between the sweet potato fries and the truffle fries. Ultimately, we went with the truffle fries, however, out of the blue our man Joe delivers an order of sweet potato fries (on him). Just a class act on his part and completely unwarranted. Thanks again Joe! Just as we had finished this absolutely delicious feast and were paying the bill, we were approached by Blaine (manager) who was also very friendly, making sure we had enjoyed ourselves and even offering us complimentary drink cards for our next visit. All in all, we had an absolute blast here, with not only great food and drinks, but an overall great atmosphere. We cannot wait to visit DMK again!!

Thin, dry, and over cooked .25 lb burgers

By Michael B |

Visiting Chicago with wife and in-laws. Paid over $80 for four burgers, fries, and non-alcoholic drinks. Burgers are thin quarter pounders, not much better than Burger King. “Grass-fed” makes no difference in this joint. Over cooked and very dry. Too salty. The cheddar in the “cheddar and scallion” fries taste like paste. I don’t like to post such a negative review, but this place was a disappointment.
