Really excellent Indian food

By Roskahuna |

Bizarrely, being British in the US, one of the things I miss most is Indian food. This was rectified after a visit to the Daawat on our recent holiday to the West Coast. The Samosas I had to start were rather more like small spicy Cornish pasties than a light flaky appetiser, but apart from this our meals were very tasty indeed with fresh ingredients obviously in evidence. One of the yardsticks we use to rate the curries we have are the quality of the naan, and I'm happy to report that the one we shared (it was huge) at the Daawat was really good. A small word of caution; the curries we have experienced on the East Coast have been very bland, so on this occasion my husband asked for his to come 'hot' rather than 'medium' and was rather surprised at just how hot it was! Still, it gave him the opportunity to have the mango kulfi for dessert to cool him down. While the food was great, and the service attentive, the restaurant itself is a bit soulless which would maybe detract from choosing it as a venue for a special occasion. I would certainly return if I did not live about 3000 miles away.

Highly recommend

By Tim M |

Best food we have had in Seattle so far... Awesome prices and service is top notch. Prices very reasonable we had a bottle of cab from walla walla and it was only & $25.00..the entire dinner with wine, bread, calamari appetizer and 2 entrees was only $69.00..needles to say we were so impressed we left a very nice tip...

Best indian I've found in Seattle (but .. still not saying much)

By Ken W |

A great and large menu. Large portions. Good food. I wouldn't say it is the best I've had, but I have no complaints. Naan was huge and excellent. Ambiance was good. Overall a fine choice for indian food.

Yummy birthday treat!

By susanbA7192GS |

People very friendly, helpful and food was DELICIOUS! Large portions = leftovers for another meal! I highly recommend this establishment!

Delicious Indian Food

By imdadul_ahmed |

Finding restaurants with Indian food might be a tough job in Seattle. You would see many places with the name "Grille" but it wouldn't be of your interest if you are craving for some Indian food. This is the place you should visit. Fish fry and biryani is just awesome. This is just to start. Try different dishes on different days and you would still not get bored with the food being served. As a topping to all the delicious food you have the hospitality at its best.

Sorry to say but this was not good

By Kall T |

I had the worst Tandoori chicken on the bone in my life, it was dry and almost cold. I asked them about it and they took it away to microwave it (I think) and it came back dry , tasteless and disgusting. The same for my wife, her Tikka was ok when it comes to taste nut cold as well. The garlic naan was dry and no garlic taste. There were some busy chefs in the background but I dont believe they were cooking anything since our food was just pre made cold crap. I love Indian food but this is the worst I ever had, Tandoori is supposed to come straight from the oven hot as hell. They knew about our issues that this food was cold and unattractive but not a singly try from their side to make amends or say they were sorry plus no discount which is maybe no surprise since the staff was as cold as the food and I got the feeling none of them wanted to be there. I can not recommend this place to anyone and believe I am not a person that complains a lot about my food.

Nice buffet lunch

By Rajendra-Prasad Yadav |

We chose to take buffet lunch. They had many delicious options. The food tasted like home food rather than restaurant food. We liked that. The vegetable pakoda was too salty for all of us. That was the only negative aspect. The buffet cost us USD 11 per person, excluding taxes. Later, we realised that à la carte lunch would have been cheaper. Buffet lunches are best for people who do not mind overeating.

Good Punjabi Food

By Dhiraj M |

If you miss Indian food, then this is one place where you would get an authentic Indian food. on a crowded day, expect a delay in order up to 20 min. The buffet and ala carte are good value for money. I would suggest this restaurant if you miss Indian food when you are here.

Dinner at the Daawat

By Andy C |

Well it was interesting to find an authentic Indian Restaurant so far from home. Having exhausted ourselves on burgers steaks and pancakes over the last week it was great to have something a bit spicy. Huge nan breads so if there is just the two of you, one will more that suffice. The rice was disappointing and rather stodgy. There was quite a variety of curries and the waitress gave us the option of spice level as 1 to 5 with the latter being very hot. My wife went for a level 4 and I went for a level 2. Both curries were on point. If you are in need of a curry and a nice pint of Kingfisher to wash it down then this is the place to come.

AMAZING Indian food!!!

By Debe S |

We were staying at the Homewood suites just across the street and saw this little place. When we first walked by it, we decided not to stop there as it would probably not be to our liking from the view street level (LOTS of alcohol bottles in the window area where the bar is located). We decided to give it a try after reading a review of it...and were we ever glad we did! First, they have a GREAT happy hour menu where several items are 1/2 price. We happened to stumble in during the happy hour timeframe, so took advantage. We LOVE Indian food, and both hubby and I felt the food we had there was the BEST Indian food we have ever eaten. The Curry Prawns and Galub Jamun were amazing!! The Dynamite Shrimp appetizers were as well. HIGHLY recommend for a great Indian meal! When back in Seattle, this is one place we WILL return to for dinner!

After work cocktail versus unprofessional

By Alice1191 |

After work went in to relax and have a cocktail and a bite to eat. Heard possibly the manager degrade the bartender and customers. Totally unprofessional atmosphere, except for the bartender who stayed calm while being belittled. The Tandori on the bone was great, service by bartender great, and manager/owner lowlife unprofessional. Have a issue take it to the back room, not public.

Great authentic Indian food

By Chapin99362 |

The curry and masala can be made to your own hotness factors. Excellent food, big portions, tremendous variety and the wraps are big enough for two people. For a restaurant this centrally located next to the Convention Center, the prices are reasonable, too. We ate here for lunch and dinner. And there were always East Indians enjoying their taste of home.

Nice Lunch Buffet

By kdhunter888 |

Nice Lunch buffet, interesting assortment of choices, great Naan. Clean and comfortable, pleasant staff.

Excellent choice for a tasty meal!

By Jeanette524 |

While visiting the area and trying to find a good place to eat, we happened upon this place and it was an entirely enjoyable evening. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the food was delicious! If i'm in the area I wouldn't hesitate to return!

Authentic Indian cuisine

By Anshum agarwal |

during my 1 week trip seattle, I ate in this restaurant atleast 3 times. Only place with authentic indian taste. Highly recommend going here

Great Indian Food

By TriciaJR |

Being an ex-pat of the UK, I miss Indian food. This place is great. I was led here by another tripadvisor post, and pleased I had noted the restaurant to visit. Has a 'bar' atmosphere with sport on tv but don't pass this gem by, the restaurant area is very nice. Food portions were to big for us to finish and our choices were delicious. Service was very good too. If we're ever back in Seattle, we would stop here again.

Good food, great naan bread.

By Rick B |

I walked over from a local hotel and on arrival I saw the place was 3/4 full, good sign. I was seated at the bar but don’t recommend this as it’s not staffed full time. Took awhile to get service. I had chicken tikka masala and palak paneer with garlic naan bread. Ordered medium spice. The food was excellent. The garlic naan was perfect, not too thick. I was disappointed in the spice as it was very mild. Nice atmosphere.

A descent dinner option

By Abhimanyu S |

I was craving for Indian dinner when I came across daawat, it was good. A nice variety of options for veggies but the food tasted average. Service was above average and ambiance was nice. There was not too much of a crowd. I will come back if I don't find better options for Indian food in Seattle.

Wonderful place for a buffet lunch!

By Stay_Strong_Thailand |

This is a not-too-pricey place for an Indian buffet lunch. There are quite a lot of choices for food, and the service is also great! However, do note that Friday lunch can be rather crowded - which of course, can also affect the quality of the service.

Great Lunch Buffet

By fricassee2000 |

Tasty Buffet with pakora, butter chicken, Naan, kheer, goat, rice pudding, tandoori chicken, chicken biryani rice and more. I believed the buffet is Monday through Friday at lunch only. Very close to convention center.

Truly delicious, authentic Indian food

By Teresa E |

My husband and I ordered the Butter Masala, which was so delicious I could have drunk the sauce by itself. We also ordered the ground lamb Keema Kabab, which was perfectly seasoned and came with a sweet and zesty chutney for dipping, offering a wonderful balance to the lamb. I have had softer ground meat kabobs, so perhaps ours was slightly overcooked, but not so much that we didn't enjoy it. The dish also came with steamed vegetables that were cooked just right, not at all mushy. And we shared the Paneer Naan, which was perfectly pillowy, toasty, tasty goodness. Mmmm...

Great new find

By Janet T |

We stayed near the Convention Center to attend a play at ACT then a Pacific Musicworks performance at Benaroya. We wanted lunch in the area and read the other reviews. There's a buffet Mon - Sat, but we chose to order off the menu. I like having the option. I had the Royal Biryani which was very good and I'll continue to enjoy at work for several days. My husband ordered the Mango Curry! Wow! The descriptions on the menu were very good. Neither of us are fans of spicy food so chose the lowest level, however next time we'd both go up one step.

average buffet

By amy p |

Stopped in for the lunch buffet. It was close to noon, so the buffet had just opened. Lots of variety. Vegetarian options as well as chicken, goat, biriyani, naan, salad and dessert. Some of the food was not all that hot in temperature. Next time I would order off the menu. The water refill service was good. The butter chicken and goat were flavorful. some of the other choices were just okay. The regular menu had a variety of Indian dishes as well as some American and middle eastern dishes. Interesting.

Good Indian Food in Seattle Downtown

By SadhanaRakesh |

We had been to this restaurant for to-go on one evening while we were near this area. We asked for Garlic Nan - 1 no. - $3.50 Paneer Nan - 1 No. - $4.50 Vegetable Kofta Curry, Mild Spicy - 1 Plate - $13.99 Dal Maharani, Mild Spicy - 1 Plate - $11.99 Sub total - $33.98 Tax - $3.43 Total Payment made - $37.41 The two vegetables were served with rice. Rice was very well prepared. Vegetables Kofta as well as Dal were good in taste. The Naan were very big and heavy in size and could cater for 3-4 persons. They were well prepared. Service was good. They served us Tea while we were waiting for our food to be ready. The only observation was that we felt little more thirsty after food. It might be due to more quantity of Soda added in preparation of Nan. If so, they should control & reduce it's quantity.

Solid choice for Indian food

By myklrl |

This is a good, reliable choice for Indian food. The prices are fair, portions are right, and the staff is attentive and friendly. The menu is quite large and serves not only the usual fare, but also a few unique items you can't find at just any Indian restaurant. It's not the best Indian food I've ever had, but it's far from the worst. I'm happy to return when in the area.

Tasty Indian Food

By Thom M |

A group of us from work were in the mood for Indian and we really enjoyed our dinner. We got a variety of dishes and appetizers (samosas, Aloo Tikki, etc) and a variety of entrees. Everything was quite good, including the naan. Decent selection of draft beers and a full bar for those that want cocktails. Overall this was the perfect place to talk and enjoy some good Indian food. I'd go again.

Amazing restaurant and service

By JoseHernandezUgalde |

I read reviews and had the opportunity to dine there three nights in a row, amazing food! I love the variety, the service, the flavor and the naan bread. The also have a great bar selection.

Good food, big portion sizes! Great service!

By ishagandhi |

We were happily surprised that an Indian restaurant in downtown was this good! Naan portions were big! Vegetables tasted delicious and the staff was extremely courteous and friendly! Truly enjoyed! PS they have good lunch buffet and it is very reasonable!

Great Food, Price and Service!

By Waiemi |

This is my second visit to Daawat Grill and now I remember why I had such a good memory of the first time. HUGE delicious portions (two dinners for us)--very reasonable prices--and attentive , friendly service. I will go back many more times!

Grill oversight hazardous

By Daniel A |

The soup was wonderful (flavorful and spicy), but the naan bread came to me burnt and not only that, it was also hazardous to my teeth! Some kind of grit ended up in my naan from the grill, burnt grit and twice I’ve bit into it very hard and my teeth began to ache like it fractured my teeth. Although I couldn’t see any damage to the visible eye, this happened twice; same bread. I don’t know what’s on the grill but they need to clean it and I hope my teeth are OK.

Excellent Curry

By cwvw79 |

I ordered the Samosas with lamb for an appetizer and it was delicious. It was served with a savory brown sauce and mint sauce. For the main course I had the coconut curry prawns and they were delicious also! They were served with fragrant basmati rice with cilantro. The prawns were huge. The restaurant was bright and clean. Highly recommend.

Visit to Seattle

By simoncarlo3 |

The food was delicious and the service very good. Lamb chops were well done but unbelievably tender. Chicken Tika Massala tasty, the nan and samosas also very good. I recommend it.

Great value, great variety, great service

By Joe L |

We visited this place twice during a short stay in Seattle, and loved it both times. The menu includes extensive Indian selections as well as a number of Middle Eastern specialities (falafel, etc.). We had only Indian selections, and enjoyed them all. The breads (naan, Kulcha) were better than I've had in any Indian restaurant anywhere, and the portions were ample.

Very good food

By Araliaca |

Food quality very good and great amount of food for a fair price. The menu has options for everyone. The service and the atmosphere were great. We would go back if we visit Seattle again.

Tasty

By CYKL |

Tasty Indian food. We ordered the Tikka Masala and Briyani. Naan was hot and light. Curry was good. Briyani average. Food took a while to be served but that was not a big problem for us.

Disappointed with Food

By Sameer Tripathi |

Service was good however food was far below expectations. Had Chilly Paneer for mains and ordered as Hot however it had a weird tangy and sour taste

Authentic though a tad short of very good

By Merril Y |

Our first visit to Daawat as our normal Indian mainstay recently closed. Had the naan bread, tandoori chicken, lamb vindaloo, butter chicken and paneer. On the whole food was ok and may have been a bit unfair to compare it to our previous mainstay though one can't help it. Would we come back, Yes... will see if our next visit bears more of the flavors we expect.

Great Food and Large Portions

By dranissa |

We had dinner here one night on our trip to Seattle. It was very busy that evening. Our server promptly told us that the food would take a bit longer because of the high volume that evening. I appreciated the heads up. My hubby and I decided to order samosas as an appetizer to get us through the wait. The samosas and chutney dips were excellent, as were our entrées. I ordered chicken biryani and my husband ordered chicken tikka. The portion sizes were huge. I wish we would have ordered just the appetizers and one entrée to share. That would have been perfect for 2 hungry people. At the end of our meal, our waiter gave us a complimentary dessert. The entire staff at the restaurant was very friendly. I would definitely return here if we ever go back to Seattle.

A little lacking.

By Betty H |

I told the waiter that I liked a little spice but I still wanted to be able to eat it. He recommended medium hot. When I received my dish it was so hot that it was I was only able to eat about three bites. When I go to a Thai restaurant I usually get spice level 4. I like spice. I know Indian restaurants are notorious f or very spicy foods which why I clarified it. Well so much for that. The dal soup was awesome, but other dish I had was horrible.

Delicious food

By Julie Chisholm |

The food here is authentic and delicious! The buffet has an array of dishes that are flavored perfectly! On our second visit, we ordered from the menu and the food was just as yummy as the buffet!! Service was professional and friendly! Redtaurant is clean and inviting!!!

Great Naan - poor Tabouleh

By Mango-Smoothie80 |

I ordered food to be delivered there, so cannot judge the interior or service, but the food only. The spinach naan is the best naan I had in a long time. It was nothing but delicious - and large as well, can highly recommend it! The thing rather not to recommend is the tabouleh - you really had to surge for the bulgur in their. It mainly consisted of parsley and onions, then there were some tomatoes and almost no bulgur. It tasted okay - but just not what I expected. For main, I had Aloo Gobi. Delicious taste - but unfortunately again too many onions. Almost as many as potatoes and cauliflower... So overall only 'good' 3 stars - but for onion lovers this is certainly heaven. All others may just order without onions. That's what I will try next time!

Good food

By Priya B |

Not disappointed at all. First time there and had goat curry- it was good. Ambience was nice and the servers were super friendly. I will recommend trying it at least once.

Delicious!

By harelbr |

Went there for late lunch with a colleague, ordered a variety of dishes, and all of them were just super tasty and generous in their proportions. Definitely a place I'd go back to visit the next time I'm in Seattle.

Great find !!

By donjulio19 |

Had the opportunity to stay in a hotel relatively close to this restaurant and opted to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Had the Rogan Josh based on the waiters recommendation. It was near perfect.

Wonderful food

By sudhirshams |

We ate dinner there 2 days in a row. It is a wonderful place. On 4th July night, they were closing little earlier and we reached there just 5 minutes before the closing. They still allowed us to fit & asked to give order little quickly. Food was surely great. Highlight was “Chana Masala” which was extraordinary. Never tasted anything like that in last 16 years me being in USA. Try that for sure

Nice surprise

By twisteddiva |

Pleasantly surprised to find an Indian restaurant in the CBD just when we were beginning to feel peckish at lunchtime. Nice spread for the lunch buffet, with several different vegetarian and meat dishes. The vegetarian fare was very nicely spiced and very tasty. Two kinds of dessert, Kheer and Gulab Jamun. File this under 'not bad at all'.

Good HH food specials and drinks

By Smoothmimi |

This restaurant/bar has very good customer service from start until you walk out. Near the freeway and convention center so missed by many. I really don't want to share so I can keep to myself but I have to because I wouldn't want to see a place like this disappear. Nice atmosphere

Lunch buffet

By Prem K |

Tasty food. Chicken dishes were good. Paneer was soft and so was Naan!! Ambience is good and staffs are courteous. A good experience overall, will come back soon.

Fantastic dining experience!

By AnneCutajar |

My 2 friends and I went to Daawat Indian Grill for dinner. We were so impressed with the friendly service, amazing mango lassi, huge and tasty naan breads and dishes we had ordered. Our waiter even offered us a free slice of delicious cake while we were working out the bill. I had never received such amazing service in a restaurant, ever. Thanks for the experience!

Excellent and across the convention center

By sciencetiger |

The location and service is excellent. If you can't decide on which Indian delight, then the buffet is the best choice. Everyrlthing is fresh and delicious.

Excellent!

By lperez_99 |

This place is worth the visit. The food is amazing, portions are good, prices are reasonable, and the customer service is wonderful. Highly recommend eating here.

Pretty good

By Sara |

Daawat has some pretty good food. Not the best Indian food I've ever had, but good nonetheless. The samosas are alright (better than Mirch Masala at least!). The malai kofta was very good!

Fantastic food and service

By Fishpez |

I love Indian food. I'll eat it anywhere we go, even if it's mediocre, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this place around the corner from my hotel. The food was excellent. We had prawn vindaloo (the sauce was perfection) and aloo saag (very hearty with great flavor). The spice levels were spot on, and everyone was friendly and professional. We ended up taking about half of our portions back to the hotel (and eating them cold the next morning with no regrets!), and even though we declined to order dessert, we were completely surprised when the waiter brought us a slice of some sort of chocolate cake to share. It was utterly divine. Just the perfect ending to a fabulous meal.

Authentic cuisine

By Diane B |

We stopped here after play at Paramount. The service was great and food was wonderful and plentiful. The two of us could have shared a meal - but decided to bring leftovers home. The biyani was awesome and a four star is quite spicy but the good kind of spice. The lamb vindool was also delicious and lamb succulent where it melted in my mouth. The naan was good as was the pita and hummus. Very clean and music not too loud.

Delicious Indian cuisine and excellent service for a reasonable price

By reeshot |

This place was and still is an Indian restaurant, under new management and new name from a few years ago. It has radically improved! The service was attentive and friendly. And the food was sensational. Extensive happy hour menu. The prices seemed very reasonable, making this a place I'd most definitely return to. It's close to the Convention Center, Malls, and Paramount Theater.

Are they open?

By Bruce H |

It says they are on Trip Advisor but no one answered the phone and the email for contact bounces back saying it doesn't exist. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent with Great Variety

By John R |

My wife ate lunch here and they offer a buffet, which she really enjoyed. So when we returned for dinner, she ordered one of her favorites from lunch, a rice dish known as Royal Biryani (or something like that), which I sampled, which was delicious. I ordered the Tandoori Chicken Tikka, which was great as well, and a lot of food. Friends of ours were seated nearby, and when I saw the Naan come out, I ordered some for takeout (the garlic naan), which was good and had blackened spots on it. The service was mixed, with what seemed like one who was not happy with our delay in ordering, but other than that it went well. They also split the check for us at our request (for business purposes). Did I say variety? They also serve American food! So you have your choice among Indian, Mediterranean and American.

Plenty of food

By S R |

I visited this restaurant on a business trip. When I got there I ordered the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and a water. I thought the food was very good and had plenty of flavor. I ordered a spice level of 3 but I think a 4 would have been just spicy enough. As far as the naan they gave me four large slices, so for one person I thought it was a lot of bread. Definitely something that you want to share with someone. All the flavors were good they were a little skimpy on the mint and cilantro chutney however they had no problems bringing me more when asked. My waiter was the bartender so he was very in tune to making sure I had everything I needed. Definitely a place that I would go back to. If I had one complaint it would be that my water glass had spots on it but I don't know if that was from air drying or that it was dirty. Otherwise great experience!

Good Briyani

By L C |

Love their Briyani. They can tone the spice levels to your liking. The portions are huge. Service is good. It’s close to transportation hubs and also within walking distance of the convention center as well as downtown shopping.

Amazing first real Indian food experience

By Dylanw1010 |

I don't ever right reviews but this place merits one . Food was incredible, all the flavors really get your taste buds going. Wow . Plus they let you choose your spicy level which is great , I chose medium and it wasn't to spicy just perfect. Another positive is the the price , I have paid twice as much at other restaurants in Seattle and they were not nearly as good. Happy hour food and drinks 👍If you never had Indian food, i highly recommend going, the service is very good and they have the best dishes. The lemon chicken and cheese naan bread , get it and you won't be disappointed . Just ask for Albert who was by far one of the best waiters I ever had , with his great recommendations and he even gave us free desert. He really went over the top I will be coming back here every time I am in Seattle

Delightful Find

By TrinaLYMI |

Great authentic Indian food. I was in Seattle for a class and found this place within walking distance of the Summit Building. It was crowded for the lunch buffet but it moved fast. It seemed to be a local favorite. The lunch buffet was reasonably priced. They had a nice variety. The goat curry was very good. I would have liked to have a bit more explanation of what was in each dish, but it didn't seem like their clientele needed that. Very satisfying lunch.

Very disappointed

By Lm |

I went for lunch with my friend. We both orders curry. Mine was tikka masala and she got mango curry. Both were highly lacking in flavor. I’ve eaten curry at countless places and I wouldn’t go back here. I’ve honestly eaten much tastier curry from a jar.

Best Indian Food in Town

By Jackson Teal |

We have ordered to go many, many times from Dawaat Grill. It is honestly the best Indian food we've found in town. The online ordering is so easy and convenient and all the staff is over the top courteous and friendly. I would recommend it to anyone looking for delicious, convenient Indian food to eat in or to go.

ILLEGAL! They tried to DOUBLE the tax (20%!)

By Chris C |

I'm in from out of town and ordered on BeyondMenu as I do in other states. I have the total including tax from BeyondMenu. When I'm checking out, the cashier charges me a higher amount and says they must double the tax--10% in socialist--WA state, to cover the BeyondMenu charge. This is absurd and certainly illegal. I left w/o the order and this review. Wonder what their "chicken" really is. Lie about one thing they could lie about more. Not cool.

decently indian

By Sandeep k |

Nice ambiance , Excellent service . Huge portions of breads , reasonably decent portions of the mains too. Taste is above average . definitely worth visiting

Delicious dealite

By KatieH |

A lovely setting and great location on the corner by the convention center. There is a buffet offered until 3pm at $10.50 but menu is very extensive with great prices. Had the saag with tofu and it was delicious. Will be going back. Very hard to find any ethnic food downtown so I was a bit weary, but it was a great decision with very reasonable prices.

Very good food, very good service, ambience of a diner

By Sugarsgirl |

I found and ate at the Daawat Indian Grill because it s across the street from the Washington State Convention Center. The decor of this corner restaurant does not promise anything special - but that is deceiving. The service was very good. [The attention to a single woman having a meal was better than usual]. The aromas of the food were enticing. There were locals eating in the restaurant as well as tourists and conventioneers. The mulligatawny soup was very tasty - but not a lot of chicken. The samosas -very tasty. The curry at medium was a warm medium. The price seemed very reasonable for Seattle. The serving sizes were not too big or too small. There is a television over the bar - but the sound was off during the baseball game. A very good meal without atmosphere - but not the best Indian food I have ever had.

Good Indian Food

By Arun Bhaskar |

In general the Indian restaurants boast of Indian food which invariably turns out be totally unindian with no Indian taste or flavour. However in this restaurant one does gets the taste and flavour of Indian spices and you tend to remember the dishes taste you have back home in India. I really enjoyed my lunch along with sweet lassi. Good restauarant for Indian food in Seattle.

Buffet

By lightkeeper7 |

I went for lunch and they didn’t offer me a menu so I figured that all they did was buffet for lunch it was good but nothing special nan was sitting for a bit would been better made fresh it doesn’t take long for nan. Staff was attentive so that’s a plus. Had better. It’s quite and good.

Massive menu, great food, reasonable prices.

By Marshall1012015 |

Get away from the madness and expense of Pikes Market. Daawat has an extensive menu, all reasonably priced and delicious. The Indian dishes offer your choice of vegetarian or choice of meat and degree of spicy. The Butter lamb was fantastic as was the lamb Rogan Josh, both at $15.99 including nice basmati rice and lots of tender lamb. A nice selection of Tandoori dishes are also available. Very good and very reasonable, even the cocktails!!

Enjoyed trying new dishes

By abundantlee |

We were a mixed group as far as experience with Indian food and we all thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. The servings are large so you might want to share if you have a small appetite. The naan was especially good.

Disappointing

By Giselle B |

Good samosa and babaganoush. The dahl was very disappointing (I threw it out after two spoons…unheard of for me). No cutlery or napkins included even though it was delivery to a hotel.

I had to contact and place a complaint with the ADA over my treatment at this location

By Kaili L |

Not only was the owner rude and unacomidating, he was also incredibly ignorant about ADA laws and how to treat a human with a severe disability. He DEMANDED paperwork on me and my medical equipment (highly trained service dog that has completed training through Houndstooth Academy; who also trains service dogs for a non profit to assist Veterans) and even stated he didn't know or care what the ADA laws on disabled people's rights within his store. Will not be back. Very glad we didn't waste our money or time on such a rude set of people. Would highly suggest Mezacaleria Oaxaca a few streets up. Food was wonderful and so was the waitstaff

Very good Indian food with pretty ordinary service

By 188petere |

Was staying nearby & decided to eat at Daawat, which is a large fully-licenced restaurant with internal seating, takeaway and deliveries. Very well located near the Convention cEntre and PAramount theatre. The fitout is is fairly basic and didn't have a lot of a atmosphere. The menu is extensive, and when it arrived was very tasty and the serving sizes very large. We weren't able to finish it, and they were happy to provide dishes to takeaway the remaining food. We ordered beers and a bottle of wine and were allowed to take away the remaining wine. The service though was ordinary and didn't add a lot to the experience: a bit slow, seemed dis-interested. . Overall the food was great and would certianly go back again.

Order error didn't affect the enjoyable experience

By seacolumbus |

Turned up on June 22nd with no reservation but were seated for dinner at a nice window seat. The menu was categorised into 3 elements: type of curry (Madras, Vindaloo, Massala etc), heat factor (1 to 5), and then the contents (vegetarian / chicken etc). Husband had meat samosa to start (which he rated very good) while I had papadum (pepper variety). We ordered a chicken vindaloo (5 spiciest) and a chicken madras (3). The curries arrived with rice already on the plates and I realised that I had been served a vegetarian madras instead of chicken. My husband carried on enjoying his vindaloo while I explained to the our server who quickly went to the kitchens to order my original request. My madras arrived after my husband had finished his curry so the meal lasted longer than necessary but the flavours were good and the portions large. When it came to the bill, the cost of my Madras was removed completely and (as with all other customers) we received a slice of complimentary chocolate cake. Regardless of the order error, it was a good Friday night curry experience and I would return if I ever visit Seattle again.

The Best Food

By giovannonislc |

This is a great place. About 630 on a Sat. night and walked right in. By 7pm it was packed. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. I'd make it a point to go back.

Excellent and Authentic. Naans are to die for

By Dean W |

Ordered take out food, Samosas, 3 different curries at three different heat settings, basmati rice. Plain naan. Quick service, friendly staff and genuinely good food. Plenty of it too.

Indian Cuisine

By Nathan G |

Dawaat Indian lured me in for a quick lunch after seeing the attractively priced buffet for $15. All you can eat included a variety of favourites such as butter chicken and goat masala as well as a variety of vegetable dishes accompanied with naan bread. The food was fantastic and certainly didn’t lack in flavour. I’d go back without any hesitation.

Great Food and Service

By Rajender82 |

I visited this restaurant more than once during my stay at Seattle. The food was very tasty and authentic. The quantity of portions served is good enough. In my opinion, it is not very expensive too. Service was courteous and they took good care. Overall, recommended for good Indian food.

Truly fine Indian food

By amb_on_MI |

Daawat served up some of the finest Indian food we've had in the Seattle area - certainly FAR better than any we've had in the UK in the past several years. The Butter Chicken was excellent, buttery without being overwhelmingly fatty and beautifully spiced. The Tandoori Chicken was moist, flavorful and tender. The naan was huge and perfect. The only negatives were very slow service and the food was not served hot. Next time I will ask for the food to be served as soon as it's prepared.

"Bad" would be appreciation for them

By JohnJethi |

There, I told you. The word "Bad" would be a word for appreciation for the food here. The food is that terrible. I went to Daawat with another Indian friend for dinner and since we were little late, we packed our food to go. Of the order of aloo gobi, chilly paneer, roti and dal makhani, let me say the complimetary chutney tasted the best. The aloo gobi was bland with the spices raw, low on seasoning and vegetables undercooked. The chilly paneer was ketchup with paneer and bell peppers and I think they just tossed all ingredients into microwave for a min to prepare this dish. The dal was bland and when taken with rice tasted blander than water. The roti, well they were thick and tough. Do I need to say more! I would rather stop here.

This is strictly "American-Indian" food

By Somethingtraveler |

I was disappointed at how any curry we order (we ordered 3) had moslty similar tomoto flavor without much change as the curry changed. This is way too americanized, and not close to how Indian food will be cooked. I can understand diluting the intensity of spices to suit the pallate of the city, but skipping on essential flavors can't have an excuse. This place certainly doesn't get a second visit from me.

Great buffet, reasonable, near convention center

By E H |

This is a great place to grab some lunch or dinner if you are at the convention center. They have a great buffet (slim on salad selections but we come for the Indian food). The place was busy but we were seated quickly. Enjoyed the tasty and plentiful food options. Buffet was $12.99and so worth it.

Good Indian Buffet by the Convention Center

By Michael C |

The buffet put out a good spread. The goat curry is so tender and the best I ever had. Does get crowded, so go early.

Authentic Indian Food that’s not to be missed

By mikelT9405SJ |

Was invited to join a couple of my Indian colleagues for dinner in this downtown Seattle restaurant last week. This place is the real deal with two clay tandoori ovens. One hint that the food is great, the door to door cars were lined up outside and runners were hanging around the front counter. The place is nice but not over the top. Our waitress was genuinely interested in making sure we had a great dining experience. I started with a Kingfisher & they had a mango lassi with vodka (who knew - I’ve never had one of those). We had pakuras for starters. I had the mutter paneer with basmati rice and paratha bread (even had the burn marks from being cooked on the inside wall of the tandoori oven). The food was great and seasoned to my liking. The prices for a big city were really reasonable. I’d definitely go back the next time I’m in town.

Great food

By Luis V |

I really enjoyed having dinner here. Food was very good and inexpensive. The curry was used modestly just to give you the flavor while not overwhelming the dish. Their naan bread was very good.

Delicious naan

By goinback2hi |

Started with hummus and garlic naan. Delicious. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. I had coconut curry paneer and it was very good. Would definitely recommend.

Okay food but have had much better Indian elsewhere!

By creativecrew |

The setting, food, and service were simply “okay”. Convenient for Convention Center visitors. Directly across the street. The Lamb Naan was unusual. On the positive side—it was huge. But it was stuffed with a layer of prefab gyro meat, not the spiced ground lamb as it is usually done elsewhere. And it was drowning in butter on top. The roasted eggplant dish was very bland and had many more tomatoes than eggplant. The coconut curry chicken was good. Creamy sauce and tender chicken. We were offered a complimentary piece of chocolate mouse pie at the end of meal which was very kind/generous of them. Would have preferred an authentic Indian dessert but it was a lovely gesture.

Great food, fun atmosphere

By MaryElle |

This restaurant was very busy, but the service was quick so tables turned over fast. Great food and attentive wait staff.

Great Indian Food Near Washington Convention Center

By Bill C |

Generally I am not a huge fan of Indian food. Always seems heavy and starchy. However, the Daawat Cafe & Bar served up some great choices that met my needs. We happened to be there during happy hour and decided to go for multiple appetizer-sized dishes. The Tikka Tandoori Chicken was especially good as was the spicy hot chicken wings. The spinach naan was out of sight good. Indian beer was on tap and very tasty. The service was excellent and the prices were about right. Great choice for lunch or dinner just across the street from the Washington Convention Center.

Excellent, quiet dinner, great food and service!

By dwgibbs |

Our last night in Seattle, we wanted a relaxing, romantic dinner. Daawat Indian Grill was perfect! We were immediately seated. We had lamb chops, which were delicious, lamb vindaloo that was just the right heat level, plus okra masala and baigan baertha as delightful, flavorful side dishes. Garlic naan and cooling raita were great. As a little lagniappe, they served us a slice of chocolate cheesecake that was the perfect ending to a fine evening! I highly recommend it and look forward to going back for more!

Great food with great atmosphere and servers

By MisterTravels21 |

We went for happy hour which comes with a smaller menu - so when you think of happy hour menus you usually think of small portions. Not the case here! Portions were exorbitant. We carried out as much food as we ate. They also had a nice selection of drinks. And our bill was not that high. They were all very accommodating and attentive to us. While the neighborhood it sits in is very sterile and commercial, the inside atmosphere of the restaurant is charming and tasteful. As a long-time Indian food lover, this place had some of the best I've had.

Convenient Location near Convention Center, Good Food

By Nancy D |

I was happy that this restaurant was so close to our hotel after a long travel day. It is also immediately next to the convention center and will be convenient for many. The Indian food was good, not great. The dal soup was very good and delivered hot. Clean restaurant with good service. I would eat here again if in the area. I would not travel out of my way to eat here.

Nice lunch buffet

By TrevB56 |

reasonable selection of food on the buffer - some quite spicy which you find out on a try and see basis. There were enough vegetarian offerings for my wife and meat ones for me. The buffer was regularly monitored and everything was being kept topped up and the food was kept hot while on the buffet. Tried several dishes that I had never tried before so now have learnt a few more things that I like.

favorite Indian food in the neighborhood

By kate554433 |

Always pleased with the Indian food here. Generous portions, good service, convenient takeout, and we've even gotten appetizers delivered for a party. You can also choose the level of spice. I was initially skeptical when I initially saw the menu since it includes quite a variety of cuisines, but the focus here (and what you see on everyone's plates around you) is Indian cuisine.

Good food

By lquadros |

While walking on pikes Street at noon we came across this Indian restaurant. Form the menu posted outside it seemed like a Indian and Mediterranean combination restaurant. We decided to pop in since we noticed that the tables were well spaced out for social distancing and it wasn't crowded. To our surprise the waiter brought us a plate of hot pokaras i.e. fried veg fritters which were delicious. We ordered 2 plates of mutton samosas, one muglitawny soup which is a lentil with and chicken based soup and a platter of the gyros. We also ordered some paratha. Everything we ordered was delicious and plenty. We visited the bathrooms and they were clean. Good and warm service with affordable prices for the downtown area. I reccomend this place for some nice Indian food.

Not the best

By sari_chavda |

Not the best.curry 4 of us ordered many items of starters and mains. Took 10 minutes to come !!! The waiter was with us taking our order he was not concentrating went away and had to come back to check on our order as he had not noted it correctly. We felt the food was reheated food from buffet leftovers from afternoon. That is why it took 10 minutes. Chicken was chewy again possibly reheated chicken. We left a lot as not appetising or tasty.

Really great price for a large variety buffet

By JD T |

I've been here twice now! friendly staff and great price for such a large buffet, lunch or dinner. this place always seems crowded with regulars to they must be doing something right.

Excellent

By DipuKV |

Highly recommended by locals and search engines, Daawat lures you with an excellent location, good service, spacious seating & lovely Indian food.

Great heat but awkward service

By ActiveMotive |

Would I go there again? This is a hard one. There aren't many Indian restaurants in Seattle so although I wasn't exactly blown away, I might just go back to try something else. I'd be keen to try the lunch buffet so I could give a range of dishes a go. Positives: It was actually spicy, and not sweet, which tends to be a problem with Indian food in the US. Enormous portions - you can definitely count on having leftovers for lunch! Negatives: The service. Random. Our server asked whether we were ready to order when she didn't have her order pad with her, she went to pains to explain that our Groupon voucher didn't include tip (which was super awkward and embarrassing), when we asked for a box she brought the check and not a box, and then spent ages telling us that the card machine wasn't accepting tips and that if we wanted to leave one we'd have to leave cash. More awkwardness, and sounded kind of dodgy to me.

Huge variety, quite tasty!

By Daydream560961 |

My family and I decided to go to this restraint because it had great reviews on trip advisor. Kids weren't too sure about it, but they ended up liking it because of the large variety from American, to Indian, to much more! The chicken was not highest quality, but still quite tasty.

Finally found an Indian spot we love

By rusty_fwg |

We moved here three years ago and have not found a place that is excellent all around for Indian food, until now. They do offer a buffet for lunch, which we'll be back for soon. Great pricing on bottles of wine, and they offer happy hour on apps and drinks on Saturday, which was great for me. Wife had a tandoori boneless chicken and I had lamb rogan Josh. So flavorful. Samosas for an app and galub jamun for dessert. Make sure you spring for that, some of the best we've ever had. I know it is a simple dessert dish but the little touches made theirs better. Across the street is the convention center, and has parking in the garage until midnight.

Lunch

By melmcc |

While attending a conference at the Washington State Convention Center, some of my colleagues and I ate at Daawat. I admit my palate is not as sophisticated as others, but I can tell you that the food smelled, looked, and tasted amazing. They had a lunch buffet that all four of us enjoyed. The flavor combinations worked well and everyone left lunch pleased with their meal. We did not have to wait long for food since it was already prepared which helped allow us to eat a quality lunch in a shorter period of time.

Great Indian food

By Prabala |

Food was excellent. The ambience is not bad. The people - some were nice and some could have been nicer. But the food was very nice! The menu is quite elaborate and they don't seem to disappoint you. A good Indian diner in the heart of Seattle downtown.

First Indian Cuisine

By Rebecca Lynn |

I don't have anything to compare it to, but the staff was efficient and the food was good. I tried an authentic cocktail that was interesting, but my friend's mango margarita was better. I tried Samosas and lamb coconut curry and both were good. I requested that it not be too spicy and it wasn't spicy at all, so if we return I'll be a little braver!

Had a great meal at the bar

By KellyMC17 |

I was staying close by and never get to go out for Indian at home. I sat at the bar to eat and the bartender was very friendly and helpful with menu selection. I had chicken tikka and naan off the happy hour menu. The tikka was tandoori style and very good and the naan could have fed 3 people...! I was a little nervous as I had seen some mediocre reviews but was very happy.

AWESOME Service and OUTSTANDING Indian Food in Seattle

By Elle C |

Terrific (the best we’ve ever had) Indian food and friendly and excellent service by all. Try some of the different Indian dishes you haven’t had before (we had a mango curry that was to die for). We would be back in a heart beat the next time we were in Seattle. This restaurant should be on every travelers and local’s list. Very flavorful dishes! A perfect 11 out of 10 for service and food.

Awesome Cup of Chai in Seattle

By Rachel S |

While we waited for an order to go, which by the way the food was pretty good, we ordered a cup of chai. It should be no big deal, but there is the powdered stuff added to hot water, and then there are tea leaves perfectly brewed and steamed with milk and a blend of spices that are like the chai from tea shops on roadsides in India. This chai is the real deal. It was sooo good we asked for a second cup. Seattle is famous for coffee, and Daawat in Seattle should be famous for their chai. Forget the chain stores. BTW, if you need to attend a program at the nearby Convention Center on a cold day do stop here for a cup of chai and a snack. Chai is chai, but you will never forget the best cup of chai.

Was in the mood for Indian food, saw this place was near our hotel. Food just ok, service pretty bad, on several levels.

By Joe € |

Food took quite a while, to the point we thought out waiter forgot to turn it in. Food sort of dried out. Mixed Tandoori grill. Should have ordered some soup (Dahl or Mulligatawny) to maybe tide us over, or use as sauce. When bill was presented and paid, no attempt was made to clean table. Needs help, front and back.

Great food & service

By DianaKingsley |

My two sons, granddaughter and I had dinner before seeing Lion King at the Paramount. We ordered the goat curry, dynamite shrimp, and a plate with a variety of chicken, fish & shrimp. Everything was excellent. When they brought the check, they surprised us with a free dessert and I had to fight to try to get a bite it was SO good. Thank you for a lovely evening. And the Lion King was good too!

Best Indian food ever!

By Milli D |

The atmosphere is classic, Indian music, wonderful aroma of delicious food, clean dining area and courteous staff. Prices were reasonable for a really well stocked buffet. Highly satisfied with everything!!

The spice is nice-Pros and Cons

By ducklakedaniel |

We were going to a show at the Paramount and wanted a good meal withing walking distance. Bending towards vegetarian and seeing the Mediterranean AND Indian on the same menu figured this would be the place. Pros- They take reservations-which is super nice when planning trip from out of town to see a show. The service was great, the atmosphere was casual without too casual and they had a private room for groups. We got a table by the window which is great for people watching. I ordered the Veggie Kafka, the wife the Allo Mutter Mushroom and we splurged on the appetizer sampler (I am a sucker for Samosas). Both the entrees were very nice.In describing how it would compare to other Indian/Mediterranean places I would say this is more "refined". Really nice. The price point for a downtown establishment within walking distance to the Paramount and the convention center is astounding! Cons- Careful of the heat. We usually fall right into the "3" category. 3 here was a little much (the Kafka) and the 2 (the Allo) was not enough. Though certainly yummy, we both agreed we could have done without all the fried globs of goodness that was the appetizer plate. The website needs help. Notice there is a Happy Hour with menu and everything...now try and figure out when that is? Bottom line-No doubt we will be back. So much yummy on the menu with great prices, atmosphere, wait staff why wouldn't we? Reserve a window table, watch the heat and have a great time.

Loved it. Will be back!

By DrLuv |

Fantastic place! Great food, generous portions, excellent value. Everything was just 1st Rate. Bartender super friendly and helpful. I will come back again

Tasty food, big portions for Indian.

By Kevin R |

Had dinner here based on its location between the convention center and Paramount Theater. The prices were in line with other Indian Restaurants (curries between $11 and $15). The portion size was generous and unlike many Indian Places there was quite a lot of lamb in the dish - 8 or 9 chunks vs the 4 or so I have had elsewhere. We ordered our dishes medium although I would say it came mild. The wait staff was nice but a bit inattentive and inexperienced. We asked for hot chai and it came around 10 minutes after we asked. We asked a second time, and rather than our hot chai, we got hot sauce! The waitress wiped down the table with my dirty napkin, and sponged off another table while the people were still there - thus one star off. Check came with a free piece of chocolate mouse/pudding cake that tasted like it came from Costco rather than home made, but hey it was free.
