Fantastic food in a hole in the wall looking building. Got the sampler platter and everything on it was great. Service was a little slow and the inside of the restaurant absolutely looks like a dump but the food is amazing. Don't be deceived by the look of the place!

My boyfriend and I are staying at a hotel near Daddy D'z. We passed it on our way in and said that looks interesting. To our delight they delivered (with a $5 hotel delivery) which we were find with because we were not going back into Atlanta traffic. They said it would be ready 45 minute to an hour and they delivered it in 30 minutes. The food was excellent, hot, and delicious. We got the Que's, the beef brisket, and the ribs and neither of us were disappointed. The mac and cheese was also delicious. The portions were also generous.

What a great experience. We spied Daddy Dz's while driving around the city. It is not the new Atlanta at all! We would guess it dates from the 40's or 50's. We went in for take out and had to wait a long time, but it was fun to watch the people, both the staff and the patrons. And you talk about mouth watering food coming out of the kitchen! WOW! All of the plates are piled high with ribs or whatever BBQ one orders, bread, and various sides. Truly mouth watering smells. We finally got our take away - beef brisket with sauce. Note: we ordered the hot sauce, but it wasn't very hot so it may have been the mild. If this is important to you it might be a good idea to get a taste first. While we were waiting another patron came in for a take out and he was told it would be up to an hour. We were probably there 45 minutes. Watching folks at tables it seemed that they all waited quite a while so it might we a good idea to come early. Anyway, when we finally got to eat our brisket it was good. It looked like the ribs were the big thing there so the next time we are in Atlanta we will try those. Recommended.

Great BBQ for even better price. Lots of options. I got pulled pork, which came with texas toast and two sides. For sides i got the mac and cheese and coleslaw - very large portions, could have shared. My friend got the brisket with corn bread, black eyed peas and collard greens. I could have eaten a meal of just those black eyed peas. They were absolutely delicious. Food came out within minutes of being ordered. Very low key environment, small on space (I wouldn't recommend for large group of people). This place is a gem with a whole lot of character.

Don't judge a book by its cover!!!! Very good food and equally amazing staff to tempt your taste buds. Stopped twice. On our way to and from Orlando. Recommend the sampler plate and the BBQ sauce is out of this world! Hot is more medium but there are condiments on the table if you want to fire it up! We will make this a regular stop when travelling đđŒ

Best part of the menu is rib tips.... not for the âtexturally challenged.â Itâs both crunchy and gooey along with gelatinous but all in all delicious. Best ordered for take out after a regular plate of ribs and sides... To be eaten at home with jasmine rice. Rib tips run out first, and best to call if they even have any ahead of time.

My friends and I ate dinner at Daddy Dz. It was recommended by our hotel. When we got there we wondered about the place, but what a surprise! The waitress was a hoot - very friendly with a great sense of humor. The food was terrific. The ribs were the best I've ever eaten. It did take some time to get our food but it was worth the wait. If you are into excellent local food and atmosphere - this is the place while you are in Atlanta. If you expect a high class dining experience - go somewhere else.

Visiting Atlanta from Canada and wanted to try some southern BBQ, and what a delightful pleasure. From the outside ,and inside, it doesn't look like much, but it's made up in the food and portions. Chicken n ribs is what we had, and a few pitchers of beer, we barely finished it. Tasty and plentiful. If your hungry you got to go.

Don't be fooled by the outside or interior decor.....you haven't come for them it's the BBQ...OMG! If for some reason you still are not FULL after the meal..the desserts are just as wonderful!

The food here is excellent. The staff was great and made great suggestions. I'd say it's a must visit in Atlanta.

The food was AMAZING. The portions were huge. I ordered the ribs (4bones) they were very tender and meaty (I was only able to eat 2 1/2.... made myself eat 3 because I didn't want to leave any). The greens and Mac and chs were tasty as well. The service was FANTASTIC. When we got there we were seated and waited on promptly, the server was very informative. Great place to eat, I will be back.

Daddy D'z is fantastic barbecue! My wife and I tried it tonight and it looks like the quintessential barbecue place â â the perfect compilation of dive and cafĂ©. She had the pork plate and I had the beef plate. Both were cooked to perfection! They had an excellent choice of sides, in fact so much so it was difficult to choose. We look forward to our next visit to the Grant Park area to eat there!

Best barbecue in the ATL in the worst location. Rub elbows with members of the APD, politicians, and winos.

The best bbq in Georgia. No questions asked. The cornbread is the best I've ever tasted and let's not even talk about the rib tips. It was worth the 45 min drive.

I hadn't been to Daddy Dz in ages. It was nice to see the structure of it looking the same as it did many years ago. The entire neighborhood has been revamped (gentrified). So this was the first time in a good while, since I'd been here. It had been sold by the original owner just a few years ago. I must say I don't recall Daddy D'z ever tasting this good. I went bonkers! The 3-Bone Rib Sandwich was hearty and had the perfect balance of meat and fat. (There is also a 4-Bone Sandwich). It came with two slices of white bread, although one slice was more like a Texas Toast. I would have preferred to not have sauce on my bones, but wasn't given the option. The sauce is a bit sweet and somewhat tangy. The Potato Salad was very tasty. The potatoes were the right amount of soft and did not include any onions, still, it made my taste-buds do flips. Cooked the old timey way (overcooked) the Collards were flavorfully seasoned with Smoked Turkey Tails. Pieces of it in my Collards consisted of the perfect amount of meat and fat. Daddy Dz definitely is no kin to fine dining. The Root Beer tasted more like Dr. Pepper and the plastic utensils made me cringe. Still, it earned a hefty 4-star review simply because everything tasted so darn good! The next time I'll be sure and request the sauce on the side, I'll bring my own fork and I'll forego the Root Beer for something else. Overall, it made for satisfying eating!

Daddy Dz doesn't look like much, but that old chimney on the side of building is attached to an incredible smoker. The pork ribs (BIG ones, NO baby backs here!) are to die for...I always get them without sauce because you don't need it...they are so good without anything on them. Nice and smokey! They are literally the standard by which I judge other BBQ joints as I travel around the US (let's put it this way...we had their food brought in for our wedding reception!) I eat their ribs once a week, at least, on Sunday's after church. Pulled pork is great, too, and if you prefer beef, the brisket is the second most popular dish on the menu after the ribs. BUT, expect to wait when its busy, and it can get quite busy! It's a small shop but the staff is always very friendly. So, if you're going before a Braves game or some big event downtown, you might sit a while. But, it will be worth it.

Hopping at lunch time! A favorite Atlanta dive. Really good barbecue, collard greens, potato salad, and don't forget the sweet tea. Just remember it is a DIVE!!

We visited this hidden gem on 9/29/16. The staff was very friendly and welcomed us, especially with it being my first visit. I had the bbq sampler, which included pulled beef, pulled pork, ribs, Que bites (fried pieces of pulled pork wrapped in a crispy coating) Texas toast, and a side. The meat was SO TENDER!!!!! OMG the smokey flavor was to DIE FOR!! Definitely worth $18.99, although the prices there are quite high. The waitress even gave us a free slice of homemade strawberry cake, which was AMAZINGLY MOIST!! I will definitely be returning for more.

This was the first place we ate at on arriving into the U.S and Atlanta! The food was so good! This is the first time we had tasted food like collars greens, candied yams and fried okra and they were delicious! The same goes for the form bread and Mac n Cheese. Although I wasn't the keenest on the ribs as I thought they were abit dry and wasn't sure about the sauce taste, my partner loved them! Would love to go back!!

Good Tasty (mostly) ribs. The main part were meaty and not fatty The cornbread tasted really good and had an interesting "topping" which I can't quite describe, suffice to say it's texture was different My kind f cole slaw-- nice mixture of tart and mayonnaise. Nicely crunchy Ice tea is fresh brewed Wings were very smokey, as were the ribs Staff were really nice Bad The ends of the ribs were dry, some quite tough. Swimming in BBQ sauce, which was too sweet (I ordered the spicy) Cornbread was pretty dry, but also managed to be oily too. (It still tasted good) Wings were dry, though also swimming in BBQ sauce Staff were really busy Oh this was not cheap. A slab of ribs with one side, wings and iced tea, with tip was over $50. It was enough for a second meal (I'm a big water too) Would I go again? Probably not. Or at least until I tried other places.

Worst BBQ! Extremely salty! The meat chewed like plastic. The beans were good though, along with the banana pudding and sweet tea. Don't know what happened to the meat though!

We were on the way to DAS BBQ and road closures lead us to Daddy Dâz. We went ahead and ate here instead and were not disappointed. Itâs a true hole in the wall place. No frills, nothing fancy. Just a good decent sized menu, amazingly large desserts and excellent flavor. Their ribs were awesome with a great smoke. I usually slather my ribs with sauce but these were just as good without. Their wings were huge. They were full wings, not tiny little drums. We shared the 5 wing appetizer amongst adults. I can eat 10-15 normal wings and their appetizer could be a dinner. The brisket was super tender and pulled pork was as well. The desserts were enormous and great. If you like good local food give them a try.

We have been looking for somewhere with something different and we found it here! Food was so tasty, cooked to perfection! Service was great, think we were served by the owner and he was so friendly and gave us a taster of the ribs and I can see why this place is renowned for them! My husband ordered the chicken and ribs plate with 2 sides and he loved it. I decided to go for the pulled pork and was not disappointed, the meat was so tender. The sides were lovely also, potato wedges are a must for me! The BBQ sauce was out of this world. We went for the mild one. Overall we had a great meal and would definitely go back, if we visit Atlanta again. Trust us, you won't be disappointed!

Friendly local joint. Found this place after stumbling lost in the Atlanta heat. Staff were very welcoming and engaging and service was fast.

Best ribs in ATL by far. Falls right off the bone. Cool area with a very Atlanta vibe. Great service and hospitality.

Great food but a "joint" if there ever was one. Didn't think places like this existed anymore. Absolutely not fancy, most basic. Ribs a tad dry but food great. Will go again when next downtown.

We were coming from a meeting and smelled the BBQ a block away so we followed our noses and finally found the spot to great smell was coming from. The place is a hole in the wall, but the food is to die for and was very crowded, so you know what that means, yep great tasting food!!! I had the spicy pulled pork sandwich on thick Texas toast and it was sooooo good I wanted another one, however I was good and decided to save the anticipation for another visit to another day. Oh and the good thing is they serve beer :)

A little intimidating at first look, you know you can't go wrong with all the police cars, fire engines and medical scrub attired patrons. Family favorite...you know, the kind of place that always gets chosen when you ask your kids where they want to go for their birthday dinner!

Pretty good across the board. Glad I saw on an area website as from area and no idea. Great staff and cool vibe. Would easily go again if returned.

Worst barbeque we have ever had. The ribs were tuff like they were cooked several days ago and warmed up in a microwave. Some of the ribs were cold. Same with the briskit was also very tough and reheated. Then they hit us with a service charge of 10% that was never mentioned in the beginning of the meal. There was not s sign indicating any service charge either. I asked about this service charge and was told was so they wouldn't have to raise prices. Very deceitful. Also the place is a dump. Never going back.

Do not let the exterior scare you away from the amazing bbq that awaits. Ribs were wonderful but would ask for sauce on the side so you can add to your taste. Brisket collard greens, fried green tomatoes all were deliscious. A return trip is assured

This is a dive as it is not well maintained and nothing matches and the building is old. There are lots of interesting things on the walls. It does take some time to get your food. We ate in, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if we had called in an order and ate at home. Food was delicious.

A lovely taste of local fare. Ribs and brisket is outstanding! Staff is service with a warm smile. Not your upscale restaurant but they make you feel comfortable.

Eat here often and I've never had a bad meal. The bbq is smoky and the greens are tasty. The place is a dive but don't drive by if you want some great food.

Although I don't live or work near Daddy D'z anymore, I stop by whenever I can. This is the BEST bbq in Georgia, IMHO. It is so tender and tasty, it's like cotton candy -melts in your mouth. And the sides are outrageously delicious as well, Southern-style of course. Iced tea is likewise fabulous. And then, when you think it can't get any better, there's cobbler! I don't usually like cobbler, particularly anything with seeds, but the blackberry cobbler is amazing. You might be inclined to pass this one up based on the décor; it looks like a run-down hole-in-the-wall. But we all know what they say about those hole-in-the-wall places in the South....

It is a joint. . .nothing fancy here except the food, but OMG what food! Excellent bbq and traditional southern sides (think mac & cheese, black-eyed peas, fried okra, greens fixed the way your mother or grandmother used to fix them). Patrons may arrive in BMW's and wearing suits, or in APD patrol cars wearing uniforms, or may walk in from the 'hood. The atmosphere is exactly what a "joint" should be and doesn't try to be anything else. Prices are a little higher than you might expect when driving up, but you'll leave with a smile on your face.

The place looks horrible from the outside like no respectable citizen would eat here, itâs hot inside with fans blowing, BUT the service is great (southern hospitality) and the food is the best barbecue you will ever have. Ice tea is made fresh throughout the day, served over crushed ice. The regular bbq sauce is sweet and tangy. I didnât try the hot bbq sauce. The cornbread....oooh-weee itâs good moist and flavorful and made with plenty of butter.A nice menu of vegetables too. Memorial Drive just East of Downtown.

First time and was not sure what to expect from a BBQ dive joint. Service was very good and the BBQ ribs were tasty. They are fall of the bone with a slight chew. The sides were also very good as well. My only disappointment was that there brisket is chopped instead of sliced. Otherwise a good BBQ choice in downtown Atlanta.

This is a great BBQ spot 10 minutes away from the Airport (no traffic). We had the ribs and pulled pork. For the sides I went with the Broccoli Casserole and Mac n Cheese. The ribs had an amazing smoke ring with an awesome flavor to boot. I opted for a 'hot' barbecue sauce that was not too hot (a good thing). The sides hit the spot. I like my barbecue with unsweetened iced-tea, and I enjoyed their tea very much with my meal. We arrived before lunch and for a Wednesday this place started getting busy but there were still tables available. The people who work here are extremely friendly which enhanced the experience. I recommend this place for Atlanta BBQ and look forward to coming back here on a future trip to this city.

Simply the best BBQ I've ever tasted! Ribs and spicy sauce incomparable. Brisket, corn bread, fried okra and onion rings outstanding. Setting is a true BBQ shack and adds to the experience.

We came here after going to the zoo and before heading to the cemetery. Delicious food. Very friendly service. Laid back.

They ran out of ribs on Fathers day! No mac n cheese or potato wedges. Over 1 hour wait on each visit. Not a clean establishment. Too expensive 5 wings 2 sides $19.00. Wings were dry and tasteless.

Wow! This joint knows BBQ. It was great, tender brisket, beef, pork it's all good! Greens, Mac n cheese and home made cakes. If you gotta craving, check'em out.

Donât let the location or the outside appearance of this authentic Atlanta BBQ joint scare you away. Those who venture inside can enjoy the restaurantâs eclectic dĂ©cor while dining on some of the best Southern BBQ anywhere. The sampler plate has a little bit of the best of everything, including ribs and pulled pork. Be sure to try the famous QueRolls, which are bite-size chunks of BBQ pork wrapped in a small wonton skin and deep fried. The menu often includes homemade desserts. A word of warning: everything you eat is made that day, which means if you come late or after a big rush, some of the items can be sold out â and once they are sold out for the day that is it. DaddyDâz has a friendly staff and is well worth a visit.

The atmosphere of Daddy D'z is what you would expect for a BBQ joint. The service was outstanding and the food was better than outstanding. I think this place is a must see when visiting Atlanta

Very good bbq place. The good and the bad are that you won't be disappointed, but it may be crowded for lunch. However, if you go right after lunch, they may be sold out of popular things like the beef ribs, red velvet cake, and broccoli casserole. But there is more than enough of other things to satisfy.

We loved eating here. Great food and friendly service. Menu is reasonably priced and has good variety, ribs were my favourite. Also a place to park which can be difficult when driving in Atlanta city. A must for anyone visiting Atlanta.

went to this bbq place because of the reviews but ended up leaving half the food untouched. not sure who or how they got such great reviews. lets start off with the place smells awful like garbage outside and the inside decor is so dirty. we even questioned why we stayed to try it out. ice in my drink was dirty - i asked for no ice and then again got more ice. they were out of regular bbq sauce... only had mild and/or hot and spicy. i dont do spicy so i asked for no sauce. the $22 beef ribs came slathered in sauce and then she brought MORE spicy sauce on the side. i mean i dont know if they didnt understand me or what... the mac tasted rancid. not sure how they pulled that off - its made with cheese but i think they added some type of spices to it. just awful. the corn was whatever. and then the main dish... the pulled pork and the beef ribs were so overcooked i couldnt even cut them with a knife. i couldnt even touch it... NEVER EVER going back... wouldnt recommend to an enemy. so so bad!

We ordered BQ Beef sandwiches not knowing what to expect as we are from Memphis and very serious about our BQ. For those not aware of it beef is much more difficult to BQ correctly the pork. Anyway, we requested the "HOT" sauce instead of the mild. It was really not that hot at all,but had a sweet aftertaste as it was vinegar based. The meat was not sliced or chopped but shredded and served not on a bun but on bread. We enjoyed it very much and plan to return on our next visit to Atlanta.

This place is worth a visit for the signage and the painting on the walls and ceiling. It looks like the essence of barbecue joint. Unfortunately, the barbecue left much to be desired. The ribs had been cooked too fast; they were chewy (that's OK), but had little smoke and a good deal of unrendered fat. The pulled pork was dry and needed the (pretty good) sauce to be edible. The cole slaw and cornbread were good, but that's not what you go to a barbecue place for. The service was *extremely* slow, but the menu warns you about that. The waiter was cheerful and agreeable.

I have eaten at Daddy D's 4 times in the last 2 weeks because I am obsessed with the potato salad. It has the potatos mashed a little with small chunks of potato and I am in heaven! If I want to eat light I will order the brunswick stew, potato salad and corn bread. If I am really hungry I will eat the Quarter Chicken Dark with mild sauce. My husband loves the pulled pork sandwich and my friend Ginny loves the greens! Ellen and Spencer eat the brisket and everything is fabulous! Try to avoid going to the bathroom while you are there and the decor is not fit for Southern Living magazine but the FOOD IS TO DIE FOR!

Didn't know what to expect, but was quite excited after reading the reviews. No frills beautiful smokey meat and a large selection of sides and extras. The portions were huge, no scrimping If you don't mind eating from disposable plates this is a fab place honest food at a great price

We were recommended here by a police officer and could not be more happy. A fantastic experience. The food was amazing, and the place, while small, was packed. Going in transformed our trip years into the past with a perfect southern bbq.

I'd been eyeing this restaurant for over 20 years and always wanted to try it. I pass by it everyday to and from work. I'm usually skeptical about trying little "hole in the wall" places without a recommendation from someone but I figured, if a business is in the same location for over 20 years, they must be cooking something good. Finally, after leaving work late on a Friday night, I decided it was time. There were a few cars in the parking lot and I walk into what looked like a converted outdoor area which was empty (due to the cold). Inside there were several patrons and one waitress. I stood at the counter waiting to order about 5 minutes before someone from the back came to take my order. This gave me time to look and observe. The place is truly a "hole in the wall" but in a good way. There is a sign that says due to limitations of their kitchen space, they do run out of items during the day. Patrons seemed to be the creative working type. The first shocker though are the prices! I thought the food was a bit pricey for a hole in the wall (in my opinion) . I ordered the 4 bones rib plate which cost about $17 and comes with 2 sides. One of my sides was fried zucchini which was fresh but cooked too hard. Now, on to the 4 bones - they were well worth the price. They had plenty of meat and were very tender. I stuffed myself eating just two. The ribs more than made up for the hard fried zucchini. I would definitely go back, probably to sit and eat next time.

Awesome food and service! My sister brought me here and I was unsure what to expect. I was very pleasently surprised!

I was in Atlanta on business, and wanted to try some good BBQ. This place had some great reviews, but when we pulled up, my colleague was a little less than impressed. Going off the fact that this place had been on the TV show, "Best Thing I Ever Ate," I knew we HAD to try it. And good thing we DID! I had the brisket dinner plate with cornbread, macaroni, and candied yams. It was to die for!

You *must* eat here for the best BBQ ever!! It looks a bit sketchy from the outside but go in, sit down and order the sampler! It is delicious! The hot BBQ sauce is good on its own and even better on anything they make. The Brunswick stew was our little "amuse bouche" sampler and we nearly locked the plate. We left with happy and full bellies. Just make sure you lock your doors!

I normally donât go and make a bad review. I like to give the business the opportunity to fix whatâs wrong. This was my first and last time going to this place. I got an order of rib tips from here and turkey ribs. Order came to about $70. So for that I expect my food to be top tier. I get outside to the parking lot and checked my food in the car and the rib tips were like beef jerky. And the food was just overall cold. There was no type of seasoning on the red tips so I went back inside to let them know she said since I just left that I canât refund the order but I didnât want the order refunded. I just wanted fresh food. So she called the owner and the owner told her something over the phone. She took my order went to the back and I guess steamed it or something. Now I just had hot steamed jerky at that point. She was so nasty about it as well. People work hard for their money. Respect that!

Hit this Que joint for an early Saturday dinner. Quite the dive, took a while to get our ribs and smoked turkey order. Ribs large and tender but came out drowned in sauce. Sauce was OK but prefer it on the table in bottles. The sides were average - slaw, green beans, potato wedges, mac and cheese. Friendly wait staff. Easy access near highway in downtown ATL.

No lie. Took one bite of beef ribs threw it straight in the trash the whole plate call spoke to the owner to let her know or try to rectify the problem she lie to me. No new order or money back man don't waste your time or money

I love to find unique/small local bbq joints and diners. It has a little run down exterior but that is part of the charm. Nothing fancy, super friendly workers, cheap beer and all the food is incredible, We tried some of their apps, but the winner was their ribs/ chicken and corn bread. They smoke then fry the chicken to crisp up the skin. The corn bread was more like a desert, rich and most. The pork ribs were huge and meaty. Skip the commercial bbq restaurants selling the sauce and the shirts and try Daddy D'z when in Atlanta.

My first time going. Always heard about this Atlanta institution. I ordered the 4 rib sandwich with Brunswick stew and potato salad. It came with a corn muffin. I ordered the mild sauce on the side (highly recommend). This meal was enough for 2. took half home. The ribs are big, smokey perfect. I liked the sauce which was a little spice, little tangy and thick. Good and meaty Brunwich stew and nice potato salad. The cornbread was like a dessert. Sweet, buttery and almost like cake hot out of the oven. Great experience. Expect to wait at least 20 minutes for food. Worth it.

The beef brisket was the best I ever had and the cornbread! However I was disappointed by the portion of brisket I received for $15. The greens and mac was average.

Great staff. Delicious food. I don't even like barbecue or barbeque sauce. But this place was good. Make sure you stop.

ordered from uber eats arrived on time, hot and fairly tasty however though it was a bit expensive, on checking they charged $0.99 delivery - ok, then 15% service charge - ok, but then noticed each item was more expensive than on the restaurants menu complained to uber who basically said "caveat emptor"

I ordered dinner for 2 to be delivered by Uber Eats to the hospital where I have a family member. Uber totally screwed up and never delivered but the kind people like Christianah at Daddy Dâz took great care of me. I reordered through another delivery service and they expedited the order for me when I explained the situation. They were so very kind and calming when I was upset. Christianah texted me and kept me in the loop as there was a deadline for deliveries at the hospital. Now onto the food! We both had the brisket, one with regular sauce and one with the spicy sauce. Both were delicious! The regular sauce reminded me of the sauce at my favorite BBQ place in KC. đđđ. Side dishes were delish too. The baked beans, Smokey and filled with flavor. Yams perfect! Canât wait until next weekend to order from them again when the hospital cafeteria is on a reduced menu. This is a done deal, just not on Uber Eats. Go to another service to have your Daddy Dâz delivered. Great food but nothing beats kindness. You get an A+ for both here. Thank you Christianah for everything that you did to assist. You are terrific.

The food...all amazing! We went to this restaurant after seeing it featured on Adam Richman's TV show Man Finds Food on the Travel Channel. The pulled pork BBQ with sauce was very good...among the best BBQ I've ever eaten. Tender, fresh, flavorful, and not a whole lot of fat. Cornbread was very good, sweet with a different kind of crusted topping that is hard to explain. I ate both mine and my girlfriend's slices! The fried okra and slaw was also very well done and tasty. Most importantly, everything was fresh! Sweet tea was very good, and on a hot day I went through 4 glasses worth. We also ordered the famous appetizer called Que Wraps which are bite sized BBQ wraps deep fried. While they were good, I'd prefer just to eat pulled pork straight up. But there wasn't anything bad about them...just not my style of eating BBQ. The bad side of Daddy D'z...hot hot hot! The restaurant is small with only a handful of seating indoors. They do have a fully enclosed porch area, but it has NO AIR CONDITIONING. The inside seating was full so we had to sit out on the patio in 87 degree heat. The full-time shade and several fans didn't help one bit. Hence why I downed 4 glasses of ice cold sweet tea. Word of warning, if you plan on eating at the restaurant in the summer...be prepared to sweat! Parking is extremely tight, the restaurant appears to be in a bad area of town, and the building itself looks in rough shape. Don't let these deter you from eating here! They didn't bother me one bit. My belief is, the rattier the building looks, the better the food tastes! This definitely applied at Daddy D'z. Easy access from the interstate, and especially easy to get to if you're at the Zoo or a Braves game. It's in the same part of town as both of those attractions. We actually drove by Turner Field leaving the restaurant.

Had the pork and smoked turkey- both delicious. Plates are overflowing! Get the candied yams- like your grandmother made! Cornbread-----perfect! Nothing but home cookin goodness!

Friend suggested this place and it did not disappoint! Owners were working and they were so friendly. Best greens I've ever had, and the Turkey plate was great!

The pulled chicken is unbelievable. This place is so good that I might even risk hitting Atlanta traffic in order to get lunch on the way to the airport when we fly out next week.

I had BBQ ribs and they were good while prefer Kansas style BBQ --I enjoyed the southern style BBQ very much!

I heard about them thru the Trolley Tour of Atlanta. Got off of the tour bus & drove there... it was 2:45ish when I got there & other than a couple of guys that came in behind me the place was not busy so I considered that a plus... It is VERY rustic, but I sat in a booth (very uncomfortable bench seats tho) & ordered. My order came in a timely manner & was good.. I had the 1/2 slab of ribs with the mild BBQ sauce, the broccoli rice casserole & cole slaw w/cornbread. Altho the bread was slight burnt around the edges it was good. The BBQ sauce was tangy & good & the waitress attentive. I would return to try other menu items.

I've researched good bbq places in Atlanta for our visit, and Daddy D'z was the closest one on the way to our hotel. it was 10 p.m. at night, so when we arrived and I saw the place, it was unfortunately too late to try and find something else. I didn't want to touch anything in there for fears of contracting some communicable disease. The bathroom was gross, but somehow I managed to wash my hands. I thought, if so many people gave this place a good review, the food must be good, although I'm not sure how they remain open on account of the cleanliness of it, or lack thereof. Everything was served on plastic/styrofoam plates, another huge minus. We ordered a combo plate, with two sides. The food was just ok - ribs slightly dry. The chicken was quite good, so I guess that was the highlight. The rice and beans were dry and tasteless. Another highlight was the service - very friendly and quick. I'm not sure what the fuss is about with this place. There are plenty of other bbq places in Atlanta that have an actual ambiance and are, you know - clean.

I am not sure if I would go as far as saying it is an "institution" or landmark restaurant, but it comes close. I have been eating here for 20 years. It is within walking distance of the Historic Oakland Cemetery. I come here for southern bbq. Sweet sauce and well smoked meats. If you are a beef rib person, you can find them here. They are meaty and well smoked. I often do sauce on the side, as I enjoy the smoked flavor well enough. The sides are southern with good portions. I have never left hungry. Don't let the outside appearance stir you away. Think BBQ joint as pass over the threshold and get ready to some good smokey meats. The prices are good and on par with surrounding BBQ places in downtown.

I happened upon this place, just by chance. Glad I did. Yes the service is slow, but the food is worth it. Cooked slow and you can taste the true bbq flavor. I had the EMS platter, which, to me, was a good value. Two choices of meats, served on Texas toast, topped with cheesesticks, onion rings, fried pickles, sauce & cole slaw. I also purchased a beef brisket sandwich, in which, I had to take home, since what I ordered was enough to fill me up. Good portions, friendly service and I even met the chef. Delicious food that I will return for. They have an eat-in area as well as delivery service. I also saw that The Food Network visited this place and was awarded a Best BBQ place in Atlanta. You can taste why.

I ordered a to-go order online and picked it up about 30 minutes later. I ordered the sampler and was looking forward to it all. The Q-wraps and regular sauce were really good. Everything else was just slightly better than average. The ribs were the biggest disappointment. I guess I'll just stick to Fox Bros.

Excellent food and staff are great. Seating is limited but get a to go plate and you're set. Been here 15 times in the last 6 months and they have the best smoked wings in town!

The meal was good, but we didn't see what all the hype was about. The physical plant is a wreck and looked unsanitary to us, especially in the bathrooms. Don't even want to think about the kitchen.... Location is four blocks from GA government buildings and difficult to get to from I-75 unless you have GPS. I'm told they are often busy with long waits for parking and service, but we showed up when it opened [1100 in middle of week] and were served right away for a carry out order and almost all the tables were empty. Despite the fact that they did not have two of their "famous" side dishes we were generally pleased with the meal. They serve their sandwiches with Texas size white bread and since we were assembling our own meal later in the day we all discarded the huge bread [too much]. There may be a lot of charm in this old building and historical restaurant, but there is a limit. Like a lot of places with the reputation they have, expensive meal for what you get.

Pleasant homey atmosphere. Pulled pork platter was good. I tried the corn bread. I probably would have enjoyed the Texas today more. Reasonably priced with a friendly staff

This place has the best ribs in all of Georgia. I have never tasted ribs so tender and juicy. The service was ok but the food made up for that. I would tell anybody in decatur to visit daddy dzs

Honestly, Iâm not sure what to say about this experience. It certainly was not BAD barbecue, but Iâm not sure it deserved to be on TV. I had the famous rib tips. They were okay; there were a few really good bites, but some pieces were tough and dry. The sides were pretty good but relatively generic tasting. The green beans, for instance, were good but a bit too salty and seemed as if they were right out of a can with a little modification. The best part of the meal was definitely the sauce, but again, confusion. I saw people falling all over themselves on tv about this sauce, but when I asked the waitress about it, she looked confused, as if there were no reason the sauce was worth talking about: âitâs right out of the bottle.â She even told us the brand name. Either itâs not made in house, which they definitely said on tv, or the wait staff doesnât know enough about the food. Having said all that, the service was good. The price was a little high but not outrageous. The decor was really odd. I get the whole âdive vibeâ, but thereâs a fine line between âdive-yâ and just gross. This place smelled damp and moldy, there were rips in the booth cushions, and literally visible dirt on the floor. I guess if the food were really phenomenal, I would forgive these things, thinking that was all part of it...but it wasnât, so the decor was gross. So, ultimately, if you go to Daddy Dâz, youâll get some okay bbq, but nothing that deserves to be on tv.

I come from Minnesota where the definition of barbecue is anything that can be burnt to a crisp on a gas grill. This....this is something much, much better. Letâs start with the âambienceâ. Iâd describe is as early 1900âs ramshackle. But, thatâs the charm. Wouldnât be the same without it. I had the ribs which, were nothing short of amazing! Daddy Z totally nailed it. You must visit this place when in Atlanta. I know I will.

So this is one of the best BBQ joints in the city that I had never visited, but I had the opportunity today and so glad I did. What great food, great ambience for city folks and just loved it. I had the 1/4 chicken plate with candied yams and cole slaw and loved it. It is definitely a stop should you find yourself in the area. Don't be discouraged by the outside because when you step inside, it's wonderful!

First and foremost - do not be put off by the outside/inside décor. This is a small shack that looks questionable and the air conditioning is not all that. It looks like there are several code violations that should be addressed-- but then again, the best places with the best food usually look like this! Aside from that, the food is DELICIOUS and the staff is friendly! I saw this place on TV and when I finally got the chance to visit Atlanta a few years ago I did not miss the opportunity to take a bite out of those yummy ribs! They have a good selection of sides; I particularly like the ribs, mac & cheese, cornbread and pulled pork. I went to ATL earlier this month and couldn't resist to make a pit stop. I even brought along a friend who hates -- and I mean absolutely HATES pork in general. Well, surprise-surprise, she loved the pulled pork sandwich! She lives in Florida and can't wait to go back. It is the only place that she will have a pulled pork sandwich from.

Do not let the outside of this establishment fool you! Google it if you need to see what I'm talking about. When the hotel shuttle driver dropped me off I was a little taken aback. Lots of graffiti and overall the place looks a bit rundown. But inside, now that's where everything changes. I sat down and was immediately handed a menu. Lots of choice and I had a hard time deciding but chose the Ribs and chicken combo with baked beans and candied yams as my side with a nice hunk of cornbread. OMG! This was the best BBQ I've had in a long time. You can't go wrong here. I just wish I lived locally so I could try some other items.

First off, this place definitely doesn't look like much from the outside. Heck, it shows its age on the inside too! (It has personality!) However, the food was good and that's what counts. I had the pulled pork sandwich. Flavor was excellent, nice and smoky, although a little greasier than I'm accustomed to. I think the $8 or so I paid for it was a great value. The peach cobbler was excellent. Servers were super friendly and polite. I enjoyed the experience.

Very delicious local spot for BBQ. It's very rough around the edges but the food is good. Your clothes will smell very smokey afterwards but it's worth it.

I'm from the north and wanted authentic BBQ so my son took me to Daddy D'z. I liked it so much that when my daughter and I returned to Atlanta, we had to come back for a second visit. I'm sure the rough exterior turns people off, but the food is wonderful and the staff great. It's almost impossible to not leave this establishment full! In our two visits we have sampled many of their delightful dishes, including the ribs, pulled pork, brisket and multiple sides. The cornbread is also a must! If you want a unique, delicious experience try Daddy D'z!

Despite being out of several things (including the ribs), my wife and I found terrific eats here! The deep fried pickles were delicious, and the smoked turkey and pulled pork were outrageous. The sauce was legendary, and we would totally go back for more.

The restaurant itself is pretty run down, and itâs not a place I would have tried had it not been recommended by a friend. Also, the service was rather slow. I donât really mind those issues if the food is really good. The mac and cheese was good, but everything else was bland and subpar. The pulled pork isnât as good as what I can make myself in a slow cooker, plus it was soaking wet in some liquid. The bbq sauce was rather bland, even for being the spicy sauce. The baked beans werenât as good as what I can make myself. They were out of corn bread, and the Texas toast was not good. I had high hopes and wanted to like this place, but just couldnât. Personally Iâd rather go to Fox Brothers, it costs about the same, but the BBQ and sides are so much better there. There are several BBQ options in the area that I just rather go to in the future.

This is my first time coming here and we got the ribs ......... and yes sirrrrrr they put there whole feet n body into these ribs.

A quintessential hole in the wall place to eat. Delicious BBQ smells welcomed us as we got out of the car and looked at the well worn shack of a place. Friendly people greeted us as we made our way into the air conditioned dining area. Our party ordered a variety of dishes and each one was delicious! Home made brisket was my favorite meat, mac and cheese my favorite side and "que"s my favorite appetizer. They served Traditional southern sweet tea with "how y'all doing" . The wait staff was kind and thoughtful anticipating our needs. The restroom area was well worn but clean and smelled nice. We willl definitely be back.

When we arrived in the car park I actually was not sure whether to enter the place or not. Nothing much has been done about the outside of the restaurant in a long time and even the inside is pretty basic. But then ... they focus on the food and they are good at it. As we did not really know what was good, we ended up talking with the chef and asked him to do a sample platter. He was fantastic, he sat down with us, we spoke for a minute and then he went off, said we should relax and he will be back with the food. And yes he did! The platter looked and tasted amazing. We had ribs, pork, chicken and a little bit of everything, plus some of the special sides and we could not finish it as it was way too much. The platter was so special that we had other guests and the staff come to our table to take a look at it. I highly recommend the experience and the food. You cannot expect silver ware, or fancy and modern seating and perhaps you have to overlook some of the interior. But if you are up for good, reasonably priced BBQ then you have a place to go. Enjoy and say Hi to the chef, we will not forget that night.

I stopped in only because of the tv show. I wanted to taste the Que Wraps. They were good but don't ever give a southerner KC masterpiece bbq sauce for dipping. Cornbread? I don't think so. I hate it for people that don't know what cornbread is. This place has no idea what cornbread is. I saw other reviews that people wrote saying they could not figure out what the crust on the top of the "cornbread" was. it the sugar bottom of the "cornbread". Don't waste your time or endanger your life to go here its not worth it. you or anybody can make this at home. spend less money and be safe.

I have visited this bbq pit twice and can't wait to make it three. Excellent authentic food, reasonable prices, attentive staff and a genuine "feel" about the place. Forget decor, though this place oozes character!

His spare ribs are absolutely outstanding, the best I have ever had. His pulled pork and brisket are very very good as well. Sweet tea, corn bread, sweet potatoes, pulled pork mini-egg rolls, and the hot BBQ sauce (it's not that hot). When I come to Atlanta, I eat at Daddy D'z BBQ Joynt. If you are downtown, in the mood for BBQ, and don't eat here, you are making a mistake.

Daddy D'z is a cool place oozing with neighborhood charm in the shadows of Atlanta's skyline. 1st time there so a sampler was recommended and ordered. Wow! More food than I could eat and exceptional BBQ at that. Very casual setting with friendly service makes for a relaxing good time. I will return.

Lets be honest, I am not the world expert in Ribs or BBQ, but hey this was a fun experience for me as a foreigner. Was in Atlanta for a few days and thought it would be good to have a go. The place was not a 5 star sterile experience but if you want that I am sure there are a bunch of other places to go. Quirky interior. clean enough. super friendly and helpful staff, gave us a tour of the kitchen and pit afterwards which was great. happily recommend it to other travellers. We walked from downtown but would recommend driving there rather than walking as coming from downtown there were a couple of under bridges with homeless camped out. food was tasty. Large portions. healthy?? suspect not but hey if you want kale smoothie go somewhere else.

Great food! Great service! It was a little warm in the dining area but the food was worth the sweat. Loved both the mild and hot sauces. Definitely a must try when in Atlanta.

Saw this on food network and stopped while in Atlanta. This place is the definition of BBQ joint. Meat is smoked on site. Brunswick Stew not to my tastes. Cornbread was really moist with a hint of sweetness. Slaw was a little too âmayonnaiseyâ for me. Fries were good. Rib tips were good with nice portions. Smoked chicken was good. It was with the trip and experience. Would go back if Iâm the area but would not go out if my way.

Iâm sorry, but Iâve been going here once a year for the last 20 years. Iâve always loved it, but this was the worst ever. The ribs came out cold not smoky like they normally are. The waitress could care less if we were there or not and never checked on us once unfortunately this is the last time Iâll ever go.

The food was amazing. The staff was awesome. This was my favorite meal of our trip. The kids loved it too. We tried several dishes and both sauces and all were top notch. If I ever visit Atlanta again, I'll be back for sure! Thanks for the delicious & fun meal.

Remembering my past experience of coming to this restaurant, I was excited to return. But today's experience was horrible. I was the only one in the restaurant (there was another gentleman who had been waiting when I got there for a sandwhich and his wait was so long he asked for his money back and left) and had to wait more then 30 minutes to get the driest 1/2 chicken I have ever had. The ribs were dry but the sauce made them just OK. They seemed to be reheated multiple time. Needless to say I will not be back.

Four of us went for barbecue on Friday night. As appetizers we ordered fried green tomatoes and Homemade Brunswick Stew. Those were good, but mere warmups for the main event. I ordered the rib and chicken combo (dark meat, of course); Laura ordered the pulled pork; Dave ordered the beef ribs (which are not always available; they go fast), and Lisa ordered a rib plate. Sides are good, too: mac and cheese, collard greens, coleslaw, candied yams, baked beans. Service is friendly and attentive; the waitresses don't just act cute, they're outgoing and really interact with customers. There is noting fake about the place or the people. This is the real deal. I will definitely go back when I get back to Atlanta. I highly recommend you go

I have visited Daddy D'z 4 times on my way home from the airport. I keep going back because I see positive reviews rather than trusting my own experiences. But no more. I stopped by today after leaving the airport. I had 2 immediate disappointments. $30 for lunch and it took them 20 minutes to prepare my take home plate. (And no they were not busy) I had a combo plate with pork and ribs, sides were BBQ beans and Cole slaw with cornbread. Dessert was a slice of strawberry cake and iced tea. The BBQ ribs and pork are very tender and the thick slightly sweet sauce is VERY good. However there was a 1/16th inch of grease at the bottom of the plate. There should be a difference between moist and greasy. Those 2 items could probably rate a 4. But the sides and cake rate a 1 or 2. Beans tasted like a can of pork and beans with BBQ sauce added. The slaw was cabbage soaked in a very runny mayonnaise solution. Cornbread was solidly caked throughout in grease. Cake was too dense and the icing too sweet. The facility is quaint, but you will be surprised when you walk in. I am sure the health rating is very low. The waitstaff was awesome. You may want to try it for your own experience, but eater beware!

Almost didn't go in because it looked terrible from the outside but glad we did. the food and service were just great. highly recommended.

Went by this place after the zoo. Busy small place. 1st had to wait one hour for food. 2nd BBQ sauce was awful tasted like ketchup. 3rd forgot to give us part of order, when we told them the order still didn't come. Don't waste you money! đ

Absolutely incredible food. Service was fast and friendly. I will definitely be back. Had the four vegetable plate yesterday and it was to die for.

Overpriced joint- food is good but 1/2 rack no sides 17.00 dollars ,come on. Service was really slow on the 4th and that is understandable but this was not a positive experience and I like to eat in rib shacks.

If you go here expecting some swanky restaurant, then forget it. If you want great food, you got it. The food is amazing. I've been here several times and it's been the same everyone. Brisket plate is my favorite. I'm always too full for dessert but one day I'll make to the good looking cakes. Warning: the sweet tea is SUPER sweet!!

Great stew and outstanding service and atmosphere. Priced right for lunch and sandwich and sides fresh and hot But......brisket not brisket. Not many here know how to put smoke brisket and cut it across grain. This was more like the top cap of chuck roast. All else very good

Daddy D'z is an Atlanta "Shackstraunt" serving BBQ. The feel of the place is great...a whole in the wall, but with character. I tried the sampler plate. The ribs were great. Beef and pulled pork were dry as was the cornbread. The Mac & Cheese was a little greasy. The collards were very very salty, but cooked well. Overall, its average.

I read about this place on the Food Network, and since I was in Atlanta, I thought I would try it out for lunch. Doesn't look particularly appealing from outside, but don't be put off - the friendly staff will promptly take your order, give you some assistance if you're not familiar with some of the choices (as was my case as I'm not from the US) and get your drinks sorted out. I ordered the half portion of ribs, and I wasn't disappointed, beautifully cooked and so tasty. As good as they were, I struggled to finish them, such was the portion size. The accompanying cornbread was deliciously warm, and I washed it all down with an interesting Jekyll Brewing IPA.

Had to try the "Cue Wraps" (basically BBQ egg rolls). Although it was good and a unique experience, I probably wont return now that I've tried it.

Chewy, juicy, messy - ribs the way you like them! Daddy Dz ribs are the best in Atlanta (and can be delivered). The beef brisket, pulled pork, and potato salad is good - but the ribs are fantastic. Enjoy.

I was in Atlanta for a business meeting and read that it was one of Atlanta's best if you can ignore what it looks like. Being that I like eating in a shack since it seems to improve the food quality I went here for lunch and was not disappointed. Had the sampler plate and everything was about as good as it gets from the ribs, brisket, pulled, pork, mac n cheese, and cornbread. Next time I'm in Atlanta, I will be back, no doubt.

Out apartment shopping and saw this place and figured I would try it out. Glad I turned back around. The food was so good! The shredded pork was a little "hard" and crispy for for the most part... pretty good. The mac n cheese and greens were good. Prices are good for what you get. Don't judge the outside of this hidden good eats spot or you'll be missing a good deal.

Everything was great from the pulled pork to all the sides! The best part was the banana pudding cheesecake!

I was told by residents of the city and hotel staff that this is one of the best, if not the best place to eat at for good barbeque and home cooking. I was also advised that it is considered a hole in the wall type facility and they did not lie about either. The staff was very attentive and made sure our orders were taken in a timely manner. They also informed us of the specials available and if any items were not available. They seemed genuinely concerned about our comfort and satifaction with the food and service. They have nothing at all to worry about in any of those areas. The waitresses moved about at light speed it seems, but were always able to stop and address any concern my party had. The food was like my mother makes (downhome creole queen cooking). We are talking about food that does not have to be seasoned upon arrival. Just eat and eat. The way it should be when eating out, out of town. No worries. This spot is worth checking out, and I bet you dthat you will be back time and time again. I stole some of my best friend's peach cobbler when he wasn't looking and the taste was incredible. Great food and great staff!

Was a bit confused with the look of the restaurant but I guess they been there for a while that it has become the look for the restaurant and they didnât want to change the old fashioned look. Food prices are not that bad & the food was okay. You get huge rib pieces.

It was warm in the restaurant but the food was so good, it didn't bother me at all. I had the 1/2 slab of ribs and I can still taste that amazing BBQ sauce. The mac n' cheese may have been the best I've ever eaten. A definite "must eat" if you're in Atlanta.

Daddy DZ has delicious BBQ with generous sides. The red beans and rice was fabulous. The wait staff was friendly and gave us fantastic service.

I've eaten here many times before moving away, but went back on a trip through Atlanta. The ribs and pulled pork were to DIE for, as always. Service is always good, even when it's super busy. GREAT place for BBQ, easily one of my personal favorites.

I was very impressed by the flavorful food (especially the pulled pork), the friendly and helpful waitstaff, and the comfortable atmosphere of the restaurant. I felt right at home at Daddy D'z!

Great fun and friendly service. A real funky place, but O WOW , the Ribs were very very good and meaty. I chose the mild sauce. The food was plentiful and I could not finish it all to my regret because I was stuffed.

Pulled pork had smoky over done flavor with too much sauce rubs too tough didn't even finish them. Mac and cheese seemed like it was day old. And it's over priced for what u get. Both of us walked away disappointed and with an unpleasant stomach

Just east of the State Capitol, this barbecue restaurant serves up excellent barbecue and sides. They are known for their pulled pork and it was as good as its reputation. My wife had the sampler platter which had pulled pork, ribs, brisket a homemade side and tasty moist cornbread. It was all delicious. The restaurant is not fancy, decorated with a lot of pictures and articles extolling their great barbecue. The place has a very friendly and neighborly atmosphere. Service was fantastic. All of the wait staff was friendly, helpful and made the meal totally enjoyable. Great barbecue, fantastic eats.

The exterior is doubtful and a teeny bit scary . Especially because i was a tourist , i wanted the real southern meal experience and i went there based on trip advisor rating & i wasn't sure i was at the right place. . Its not a high end dining experience. Its more of a diner with a cultural twist to it. You need to go there with hands washed ( to eat the ribs ) , jeans , a tshirt and an open mind. The cons- I found the food too fatty/oily ie. mac and cheese, cornbread ( personal choice) . Pros- The good side -the ribs were smoked, tender and delicious , Pulled beef was amayyyzing , pink lemonade cool and refreshing , the potato wedges were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside ( albeit dripping oil lol) . Portion sizes were huge ( I took 3/4 of my order back home ) and there's a lot of history there which gave it a unique feel to the place. (btw its all disposable plates and cutlery so don't complain just enjoy the experience and the ribs. )

My recent visit left much to be desired to say the least. On my previous visit (pre-Feb 2020) was a much better dining experience. This time around - not so much. The ribs hardly tasted BBQ'd. The taste was as if they had been cooked in the oven and that' was it. There was no smoke or hickory flavor at all. I don't think salt or pepper was added either. They weren't even warm, neither was the sauce that was given on the side. Granted, I was there between the lunch and dinner crowds . . . but good grief! Could the meat have at least been warm? I got better Baby Back Ribs at Mo MoMo's at the food court in Peachtree Center where I went the very next day to satisfy my taste for ribs. The Candied Yams were delicious Caramelized, Buttery & Sweet. The Collard Greens were warm & tasty, but the portion was very skimpy. It wasn't even a full serving spoonful. Very stingy with the Greens. The Potato Salad had a nice flavor, but the potatoes were a bit hard. The meal was very CARB heavy, but the thing that made it one of the worse meals I've eaten anywhere was the fact that they are passing off "Coconut Macaroons" as cornbread. It was sweeter than the candied yams, about 2" in diameter, flat and baked in a cupcake liner - and was way too sweet to be cornbread. If a person knows nothing at all about country cooking they know that what Daddy Dzâs is calling cornbread is not. And who doesn't know a "Coconut Macaroon" when they taste one? Simply put it was insulting and appalling! Daddy Dz's management needs to be ashamed. The ribs must be the cheapest cut of pork because they lacked the proper flavor & texture of quality ribs which suggests . they were from poorly fed pigs. The original owner would be appalled for sure. It feels like who is ever cooking the food, they just don't give a damn and there seems to be very little TLC going into the foods preparation. Shamefully, it made for a mostly tasteless, dull and boring dining experience. With low standards, you might be impressed with Daddy Dz. Sadly, it is my intention to never return there for a meal. I donât mind supporting a business, when they aspire to excellence.

This place was chosen on our last night of our 3 week trip in the Deep South. We didnât fancy going out as we were both tired from our trip so I went out and picked up some takeaway... This was one of the best BBQ we both have personally had! The food tasted amazing and was excellent value for money We both had the Pulled Pork and it was sublime.....Proper Southern style cooking!! We learned that driving around this area that it is best not to be fooled by the exterior of a lot restaurants most of them are quirky to say the least! Do your research and 99% of the time these quirky places deliver food that is unbelievably good. Daddy Dâz is no exception to this........

I went here 12/16/19. This was a first for me and definitely wonât be a last. Iâm glad I did. This place food is creme de la creme! Iâve been to other bbq places all through Atlanta. This place is special. The building shows the history. The bbq beef ribs have a sauce on them on the plate with 2 sides and cornbread for $23.99 or just say $24.00.This food is extremely delicious đ€€. Itâs a black owned business! They know what they are doing in here! The food is smoked and seasoned! I also had to try out a brisket sandwich delicious đ€€. Itâs actually between the east and west side not to far of a drive.

From the outside, okay and the inside, you might want to just turn around and leave, but don't! This place has great bbq and sides. My husband got ribs and I had brisket and both were great. My only negative is that I got a sandwich and a side and the sandwich was so huge that I had trouble with my potato salad. Talk about stuffed!

From the outside, you think you be robbed before you get in. On the inside, it looks like something from my old country. Rural China. But when you taste the food.... OMG Rib tip is best that I had. The yam was yummy. The corn bread, oh heaven... Need I say more. The greens had vinegar in it, nit my favorite taste, but I think that is the way it should be. But not my favorite. Portions are good, price is reasonable. Beer is by the bottle in the small fridge by the counter. Service is fast and friendly. All of a sudden, the rustic decor became a charm. And reminds you of what a pepper BBQ joint should be. I took the left over back to hotel for breakfast tomorrow. What is not to love.

We found this spot through FoodTV map - it was on Diners, Dives...or something. The place is awesome! It is definitely a dive with lots of personality! It's near Oakland Cemetery. My son had ribs and I had brisket - both were excellent, moist and meaty. The sides were also good. The cornbread is fabulous!

This was by far the best BBQ joint I have ever been in. The food was amazing. I have almost made a trip to Atlanta again just to go here. Almost. The place is a dive, but the best places are. Cant wait to go back.

We visited last night after hearing a lot about the place. Their motto - We Ain't Pretty But We're Good" - is spot on. The staff is SUPER FRIENDLY - just amazing. Really enjoyed talking with them. Had the pulled pork and the shredded beef. Both were very good - highly recommend with their "hot" bbq sauce. Topped it off with their banana cream cheese cake. Yes - you heard that right..... I will be back.....

BBQ is highly subjective but this was not a hit with my family. For one, everything comes with a tremendous amount of sauce. When you can get through the sauce to taste the meats, they just don't seem as tender as I expect from BBQ. Smoke flavor is minimal too but that might be lost in sauce as well. The sides were good. I wanted to like it more than I did -- probably will go to other BBQ options in Atlanta in the future though.

While visiting the metro Atlanta area for Thanksgiving in 2014, my husband asked our cousins to take us to Daddy D'z after seeing great reviews on the Food Network. We were so pleased with the ribs and beef briskit as well as the sides that we ordered. My cousin ordered a slice of home made strawberry cake that was incredibly moist and tasty. Service was great likely because we went fairly early on a Saturday - around noon. Portions are so generous that we took a fair amount of food to go and later enjoyed it back at home in Chicago. We highly recommend anyone in search of authentic and delicious bbq to check out Daddy D'z.

The service was great and friendly! More importantly, the food was amazing. I had the pulled pork, candied yams, and black eyed peas.

Awesome BBQ. Son and I had brisket, Mac and cheese. Brisket tender and smokey. Vinegar base sauce was ok. So much cheese cheese oil left in plate. Must try.

We ordered the beef ribs and beef brisket. Iâm afraid both were disappointing. The âbonesâ were tougher than expected without much meat on them. The brisket had too much sauce mixed with it. Maybe trying the sauce on the side will help. We also had the pork ribs. Theyâre very good. Recommend sticking with the pork.

So we searched online and saw this place was voted as a place to go on food network. We showed up at around 7:00 and was looking for ribs, rib tips and hickory wings. Unfortunately, the wings and brisket was gone so we had ribs, chicken and brisket. The chicken was kinda dry, brisket was okay but the ribs were great. The sides black eyed peas, macaroni and cheese, okra were awesome. Cole slaw and corn bread were okay. Our service was excellent and very personable. Cobbler was out too. I would recommend going earlier or calling in your order or they may be out of sides or meat. Would definetly go back but I'll call ahead of time to get the wings and tips!!

Don't be fooled by the location or exterior, the ribs are juicy and plentiful and the rest is just as good! Friendly staff called us a cab after too!

My spouse and I walked over to Daddy D'z after attending an event at Oakland Cemetery. We could smell the smoke from a few blocks away and knew we were in for a treat. This was our first time so we split 1/2 Slab. The ribs were delicious - meaty, smoky and delicious. I preferred the mild sauce over the hot but both very good. Our two sides were stew (very good) and collard greens. We've lived in ATL for years...this was our first trip but definitely not our last.

Our shuttle driver took us there our first nite in Atlanta. My husband wanted the beef ribs and I wanted the wings. But it was late and they were out. So I got the smoked turkey breast, potatoe salad and sweat potatoes and he got the brisket, red beans and rice and wedges. It was the best barbecue we have had in a long time. The building doesn't look like much but don't let that fool you. The staff was friendly as well.

BBQ was awesome. Great ribs. A bit hectic but very nice servers. Our meal was delayed due to a large party. It was a long wait but worth it. They ended up comping the meal with out our asking. We will definitely go back

Daddy Dâz came highly, highly recommended by a friend but in my opinion fell short of my expectations. From the outside Daddy Dâz is rough and I debated leaving but decided to give it a chance. As we walked in we were immediately greeted and shown to a table. Once again the inside did not build any confidence that I would enjoy this dining experience. Our waitress was just the nicest and friendliest and asked if we had dined here before. As new customers she made recommendations from the menu and we took her advice. Our food came and was not at all bad, however every meat on the plate was covered with sauce and was not needed as the meats did not need it. If you donât like meats smothered in BBQ sauce I would recommend getting it on the side. The sides that came with the meal were not as good as the BBQ. I feel like I need to mention that the staff here are genuinely nice, friendly people that made the experience better.

Went here for the first time today, and absolutely loved it. Great, authentic, Southern BBQ, and the employees were delightfully friendly. Will definitely be going back.

Daddy Zâs was highly recommended by a tour guide from our trolley tour. For one thing they over charged us and had a service charge to your bill, they donât serve you at the table, they just pack to go. The food was so salty we couldnât eat it. Then we ordered a sampler platter and they only gave us pork and then said they didnât charge us for the sampler so we had to pay even more. The toast was just a piece of white bread. The cornbread wad pretty good.

This place ranked one of the top when I did my research on the best barbeque in Atlanta. We had to go out of the way to get hold of their specialty and it did not disappoint. Serving was huge, as with any other American restaurant, but we managed to consume left overs the day after and it taste just the same. Their barbeque sauce is heavenly. I'm not much a fan of their chicken and beef ribs but the pork ribs and pulled pork were absolutely divine. The staff were very friendly and warm. The owner even helped break my hundred dollars to twenties. It was quite hard to pay in hundred dollars in this part of the world. Small bills are always recommended. We just did take out. The place is unassuming. Not the fancy type.

We stopped off at Daddy D'z while passing through Atlanta, and we're glad we did. It was good solid BBQ. The macaroni & cheese wasn't as cheesy as I like. The fried green tomatoes were decent, but not my favorite. The Daddy D'z Famous Que Wraps, however, were the bomb! BBQ pork wrapped in dough and fried- I've never had these at another restaurant. Overall I liked the place, the food was good and the service was good, but the Que Wraps were my favorite.

Me & my girlfriend stopped here because she had been craving bbq for the longest, but wanted to hit a spot she hasn't been to in a while, that served somewhat late. I got the pulled pork plate with 2 sides, with an extra piece of Texas toast & a beer. The meat was SO TENDER!!!!! Good smoked flavor & color. Prices seem a tad high, but portions make up for it. parking lot isn't the greatest, but lil shacks in the hood always have the best food lol. Not the best BBQ I've ever been to in Atlanta, but good as hell. Put it on your list.

Don't be fooled by the exterior. This is some serious BBQ, and they charge accordingly. Everything is what you might expect from shows like "Barbecue Pit Masters". The ribs are the proper mahogany color. The meat isn't falling off the bone, but has the correct "bite''. Both the smoky flavor, and much prized pinkish ring are present. And the sauce (in my case Hot) was pleasant, but not overpowering. You will find it brings a nice lingering tingle to the lips. All in all the best BBQ I've had in years.

Everything was amazing! The decor and atmosphere is cool and unique! The bbq was fantastic, the mild sauce our favorite. You must try the cornbread, macaroni, and fried zucchini! Service was outstanding as well. I will definitely be back!

I heard great things, saw they had won awards. When i got there, the awards were from 10 years ago. Brisket was stringy and not tender. Service was slow. Pulled pork was the same. Taste was ok but the BBQ was not what I was used to.

Four of us stopped in on a Monday about 6 pm. It is a small place but there were a number of tables open. Based on the outside, I would have never stopped but our hosts had been there before and knew it was a good place to eat and it certainly was. It is as run down a place as I have ever eaten but the service and food were very good. We all had either pulled pork or pulled chicken. Each comes with a side. I had the collards which were excellent, both in taste and in texture. My wife had the baked beans which were very good, and didn't seem to be right our of a can. I had the corn bread which was very heavy but tasted good. I also tried one rib which was tasty but not as tender as some that I have had. Parking space is ample for the small inside seating. It seemed to do lots of take out business. There was a tv on but the sound was turned down. The overall noise level was low. I look forward to going back on another visit to Atlanta.

Don't expect a luxury restaurant or scemic loaction, do expect good food in sizeable quantities, served by friendly staff

Not much from the outside but the food is great. Great pork BBQ sandwich and great sides. Love their potato salad and wonderful baked beans. The mac and cheese is excellent. Very good service and good prices. I have passed this place several times but not again. Great BBQ.

Ribs WAS DRY, Unseasoned and dry even thought it tasted boiled .Mac and cheese was mixed with vinegar and wings was uncooked the slice beard was stale this is the worst place all this was 25$ they should be ashamed of there self for selling that garbage I shared this with my co worker and she just throw it away

We eat a lot of BBQ, and I'd say this is in my top five. Everything about the food was amazing and the sides were even better. It's a hole in the wall, but we didn't mind that - has a ton of character! We went on the night of the Beyonce concert, and let's just say they were busy catering to her tour bus and crew! You should not pass this one by! Server was super friendly and staff was awesome.

If you like good food and don't care where you eat it: this place is great. Their menu has all the BBQ staples: brisket, pulled pork etc. but also the stuff you don't see as much: rib tips, turkey etc. The sides are great, the portions are huge, the cornbread is delicious. The beer selection could be a bit better and prices are a touch high but it's worth coming to.

Stopped here to eat dinner on the way to a show. Had several friends that said it was good BBQ, they were right. I've been to many BBQ places across GA and this is in my top 10 for sure. Place looks like a hole in the wall and most people would just drive on by, but if you go in you will find out how good this place is. Good prices, great portions, fast service. I will go back whenever I'm in the area.

After seeing on tv I just had to go and try it for myself. It was good but not what I expected, the cue wraps were nothing special the bbq sauce tasted from a bottle and the pulled pork you could get at any bbq restaurant. I will say the ribs are awesome and the mack n cheese also very good . If this is somewhere you are going to try get the ribs you will not be disappointed!!

This place is further proof that you can't "judge a book by it's cover." Even though it is run down, we had excellent BBQ. The iced tea was amazing. I tried fried zucchini for the first time - yum! Service was decent.
Good Barbecue Place
The food was good and plentiful. You are served on plastic plates with plastic cutlery. The decoration is eclectic.
