I had the tacos for the very first time. As a vegetarian who really does like tofu, I am always reluctant to try tofu in something that tofu has no business in. So just to be sure I could eat something, I ordered a plate of tots just in case. I wish I'd skipped the tots. While delicious, as usual, they were entirely unnecessary. The Tofu Super Tacos were amazingly good. Tofu, guacamole, black beans, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream on two "crispy soft" tortillas... Awesome! Kudos for not serving wimpy tacos. And kudos some more for putting tofu on one and making it taste perfect! You won't need a side with these. I ate the tacos because they were big and delicious. I ate the tots because they were there - why do I always do that? Oh, and we ate outside and brought the dog. You can do that. :-)

Pretty jet lagged after a fairly long flight, we just about managed to stay awake until dinner time (local time that is) and after looking at a few menus provided by our B&B settled on the nearby Dakota Blue. It’s in a nice neighbourhood by Grant Park near the zoo and is an informal place popular with families with fairly basic décor, but friendly service - I forgot how you get refills on soft drinks before you have even finished them in the US! I wanted food that was relatively plain and wasn’t hugely hungry because my body clock was telling me I should be asleep. I spotted a Cuban sandwich on the menu, which I’d never had other than the one I made myself after seeing the movie Chef, which also came in a smaller size (a half Cuban) so I ordered that with a side of Tater Tots – not realising the side dish would be huge. The Tater Tots were very bland and a bit greasy and would have been much nicer with some sort of sauce (I don’t like ketchup so I mean something like a cheese sauce). The Cuban sandwich was good but I didn’t think it was all that special though it was huge so only order the full size sandwich if you are really, really hungry! The bill was pretty cheap and came in at 40 dollars including a 20pc tip for the three of us!

It took a long time to get our food, but we had a nice outdoor table on a pleasant evening. Lots of vegetarian options and a lively menu overall. And thanks to a clueless waitress I got about 6 oz of Maker's Mark--she must have poured it as though it was wine. Food was good and the setting worked for our two grandsons as well. (And, no, I did not drive home after that drink.)

Everyone loved their food. Prices were great. Parking is on street but it is free. I ordered the atomic hoedown. It was tofu, grilled veggies and johnny cakes. It was a lot of food and only 7. dollars. Everyone else had burritos and chips. There are outside tables also and you can bring your dog.

Visited on a beautiful spring day. Outdoor seating was quite nice. The service was extremely friendly without being pushy, and the food was excellent. For a place so tiny we missed it on our first drive-by, it's a real hidden gem.

Food was great as well as the location. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere and convenient walk to things to do in Grant Park area.

This place is what you think about when you picture a neighborhood family-friendly restaurant. Good food, tons of kids running around, and no one cares about the noise.

Great little neighborhood pub. Fun atmosphere and friendly staff. Wide selection of unique menu items - plus a variety of delicious burgers.

This is a small quintessential Grant Park restaurant. Walking distance from the park and zoo, this place has a quaint neighborhood feel. Patrons sit outside with their dogs and there's a kids' area inside. Very relaxed atmosphere. Menu is varied with Cubans, tacos, burgers, and more. My favorite item is a brunch dish called Eggs Salvador Dali. So good! Poached eggs with homemade bread, spinach, tomatoes, and potatoes. Prices are in the $10 range.

Delicious burgers. Good salsa.

Outstanding spot on a quiet street. The black bean cuban sandwich was really tasty. Decent beer selection with appealing prices (Fat Tire is $4). The servers are friendly and efficient. I will certainly go back, even though I live in the north suburbs.

Since I live in Grant Park Dakota Blue is always on the trusty rotating restaurant list. Not only does this place have delicious food but the prices are something that I thought was now extinct in cities like Atlanta - $6.50 for a burger? Yes, please. $2.50 PBR drafts? Can't beat it. As much as I want to keep this neighborhood gem a secret I find it my patriotic duty to spread the word - Dakota Blue rocks, tell your friends 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Enjoyed the BBQ pork burrito. Very interesting combination of BBQ and heat with a pineapple salsa. The burrito was huge and came with chips which was more than I could finish. The neighborhood next to Grant Park was wonderful! Service was good. Food was quite inexpensive. A real bargain and worth going again.

The food is great, my husband had a customized burger and I had a 1/2 cuban with tots. The service was fast and friendly. The prices on the food were reasonable and we didn't leave hungry at all. It is within walking distance of the zoo too.

We had been traveling all day when we stopped here for dinner. This place is great for kids, they could stretch out on the sidewalk and the restaurant provides chalk for them to color with! Service was excellent, food was amazing! Their queso and roasted salsa was to die for! My husband enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich and tots. My salmon and cilantro rice was sublime. We'll definitely be stopping here next time we go through Atlanta!

Dakota Blue is one of those places where things could have gone wrong and yet, they totally succeeded in making a lovely spot for both locals and visitors. It's in the Grant Park area, by the zoo. They are smart enough to cater to families, so the menu includes enough items to keep the young ones satisfied. A couple of us ordered the Dakota burger and it was beautifully seasoned, something that other places tend to forget. The fries were a little more done that I care for, but still good. Another member ordered the bean burrito. It was a VERY large bean burrito with loads of items. Very tasty. There were many options for vegetarians, and you can ask to customize your other as they will accommodate you order. Service is pleasant, but they do get busy, so don't expect to rush in and out.

Dakota Blue is loved by Grant Park - they are very supportive of our community. I enjoy their chili and the tots are always tasty. I am happy to recommend Dakota Blue.

Had a reuben take-out from there and I think the sauerkraut was bad. can't bring myself to go back.

Great find near the zoo and downtown! The sandwiches are huge so share or get the half order. Our food was really good. Parking is available on the street...make sure someone can parallel park!

I've been going to Dakota Blue for years. They have evolved over the years and become a great asset to Grant Park. Although not their specialty a hidden GEM on the menu is there burgers, If you enjoy gourmet BURGERS you have to try them here: Great buns, quality beef, and carefully made, I'd recommend the Mushroom & Swiss as they add a side of delicious saute mushrooms that are super flavorful. Usually the specials are excellent if you don't go for the fabulous Veggie Burrito (add steak and you have really got something!). Prices are very good value, especially for their drinks. While many area restaurants are serving absurd $7 beers and $12 cocktails, Dakota Blue is holding the line with very reasonable beverage pricing. Room for improvement? The only trouble here is that service can sometimes be slow. They can get very busy a peak times and aren't that great as handling the peak hours. In general the servers are great, but some times get overwhelmed and can't quite keep up with demand. Highly Recommended

The restaurant is situated in a very green area on a lovely little street just a few paces from Grant Park that strikes a refreshing balance between quaint and lively. There are several eateries on this walkable stretch of road and I have to recommend that you try one of the other ones. The service was gruff and the food came out very slowly. When it did arrive, I was disappointed by stale, tasteless fries and bland chicken strips that tasted more like fish than some seafood I've had lately. The portion was generous but quite overpriced for insipid food. We were also rushed by the waitress with our check, despite the fact that the restaurant had plenty of tables around us. Another unfortunate feature of the atmosphere (if unavoidable on their part) was the incessant screeching coming from several tables of young children throughout our time there. Unless our visit happened to be during some sort of children's special, I have to think that young families frequent the restaurant, which makes sense with the demographics of the area (I live walking distance from the restaurant and know the area well). I might also add that within 30 minutes of leaving the restaurant I was struck by a tumultuous bowel movement that was almost certainly caused by what I had consumed at the restaurant. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and enjoys a nice, safe location. It may be that I caught the waitstaff on an off night, or that I happened to pick one of the lesser dishes the establishment offers. But based on my experience, such as it was, I can't say I will be a repeat customer.

I have walked into this place a few times to get water for my water bottle on the bike whenever I'm at Loose Nuts Cycles (next door). Finally decided to have breakfast there on Sunday, 4/30. We ordered a small bowl of jalapeno grits and a breakfast wrap (I can't remember which one). The dish was served with a few pieces of fresh fruit as well. The food was flavorful and the ingredients seemed fresh. I think I will sit inside next time. The little sidewalk with the outdoor seating can get busy with passers-by and patrons heading to Loose Nuts. Plus, the tables and chairs outside aren't that great -- our patio-style table had food stuck on my side of the table, and it just didn't look that clean. Overall, this seems like a nice little neighborhood gem. I'm looking forward to exploring the menu.

The food is really tasty and it’s easy to get to from the zoo. My daughter loved the pasta with fresh Parmesan, I loved my burger, and my husband had the grilled chicken breast. Yup—it was a fresh chicken breast, not prepackaged or cooked. The tots were great. Service is a bit slow, but the food is good.

Such a friendly service and really good food. We had some tacos and a burrito - loved it. Also a big high five for the Halloween decorations! Too bad it was a bit chilly - otherwise we would’ve loved to sit outside. Also the prices were more than reasonable!

We sat at the bar because both rooms were full and a bit noisy. It was great. Service was quick and server was attentive. The food was perfect. We went in just looking for a small bite to eat and the menu accommodated the small appetite and the hungry appetite. It was a nice experience. Friendly staff added to our experience.

Very trendy little restaurant. Food is very good and the portions are very generous. I had the spinach & artichoke dip and my husband had the chicken basket w/ tots. This was absolutely the best dip I have ever had and my husband made sure to finish it for me. The prices are very good and you won't leave hungry. The only thing I would change is that refills were filled better. The other thing I loved was that the food came out extra fast so if you don't get too long of a lunch, you should be ok eating here. If you are tired of chain restaurants then I would highly suggest giving this place a try.

I tried Dakota Blue at the suggestion of a friend who eats there often. What a fun place! Located in Grant Park, this restaurant is family friendly with a great selection of toys. It's also great for just hanging out with friends. Tonight I had the blackened salmon with cornbread it cost just $10.95 and was just as delicious as the other salmon dinners I've had that cost twice that much. I'm not exaggerating when I say the cornbread was the best I've ever had. Sooo moist. Also, the apple pie was perfection. I highly recommend this place to everyone looking for a delicious, affordable meal in a fun atmosphere.

Very enjoyable and delicious breakfast outside in front of this little gem. Skillet was excellent and my wife really liked her veggie omelette. Service very attentive. Dogs welcome. We will definitely keep it on our breakfast short list. No wait on Sunday at 1030am.

It's hard to find good Cuban Sandwichs outside the Miami area but Dakota Blues will satisfy your craving without driving to Hialeah FL for the real thing. DB's tots are the "Best" in Atlanta. Great service, parking can be an issue but it's well worth the trip.

In there today with a friend. We each had a veggie burger, yet mine was topped with an artichoke spread and my friend topped his with pesto. We cut each burger in half and exchanged halves. Both were incredible. We also had a basket of tater tots with Monterey Jack cheese melted over them. Ask for the spicy BBQ sauce for an added kick. Service was impeccable and the price was good as well.

Neat little out of the way spot in Grant Park for a straight forward breakfast.

Impromptu lunch after a morning at Zoo Atlanta! So glad we found this place! Friendly service and wonderful food at a reasonable price. My husband got the southern fried chicken sandwich platter and gave it two 👍🏻👍🏻. I ordered the caveman hash bowl. Filling and delicious! We will be back!

Once again Dakota Blue has not let me down. I’ve been dining here for several years now. It’s a Grant Park staple. It offers an easy menu with quality ingredients. They have the best supreme nachos in town for $9.50. It’s a huge plate! Their margaritas are strong and it’s located 2 doors down from the park. Great prices and family friendly.

Such a great place to eat, the inside has sort of a rustic bohemian vibe and the street in which Dakota Blue is located on is a very nice peaceful street from my experience. I felt very safe and relaxed sitting on the outside tables, it's a very enjoyable place to people watch. The food was delicious, I couldn't fault my order at all. The cheeseburger was mouthwatering and the sweet tea is to die for. I would absolutely eat here again and I would definitely recommend. Such a peaceful place.

The best French toast of my life was right here! My hubby loved the crabcake benedict. Marvelous brunch.

Arrived in town late Sunday night and the restaurant where we had planned to eat was closed. We googled nearby restaurants and Dakota Blue popped up. It's an older building with wooden floors, a bar at the entrance and a step down to the dining room. Large solid wood tables and benches lend to the decor. We just went with burgers and fries, but the sandwiches are more than adequate and the fries were plentiful. Park on the street.

oh my!!!

Great neighborhood bar next to the Atlanta Zoo at Grand Park , nice Staff and very friendly , great steak tacos and taco chips with spinach cheese dip ! Outstanding local Vodka from destillery out of Atlanta !!!! Will come again

I discovered Dakota Blue during a walk around Grant Park and the neighborhood. A friend and I met at the park and walked 4 miles, enjoying the park and looking at the renovated houses in the neighborhood. We stopped at Dakota Blue and hoped for the best. We got the best! My friend ordered the eggs benedict and they were great. I ordered the Bleu Burger - and it was the best burger I've had in a LONG time. The food was so good I returned with another friend yesterday. She loved the bleu burger just as much as I did. I tried a chicken salad sandwich with a twist. It was FABulous. The beer is great. The service is attentive. We ate at a sidewalk table both times. The second time we had a pup with us. After eating at Dakota Blue we wandered and walked the park. Location = great. Food = great. Ambiance = great. I've found a new favorite in Atlanta!

Always a great place for brunch... and checkers!

We were looking for a place to have lunch after visiting the zoo when we came across this little place. Burgers are great and the tater tots were cooked perfectly!

I liked this restaurant fine, but the menu was a little all over the place so I didn't know what to order. I liked the black bean patties and would order those again. The chicken sandwich nothing spectacular, so I would skip that on a future visit. This does not strike me as a Mexican restaurant, but if that is the specialty, then I would narrow the menu a little more. Drinks were good and packed a nice kick. I really enjoyed sitting outside although there was a lot of food on the ground and no one made a move to sweep it up and that was not pleasant to look at.

average in every category. they do allow dogs on the patio which was nice.. good location. the clientele was a little too hipster for me

Dakota Blue is a great Grant Park restaurant. American food & great outdoor seating. Homemade Bloody Mary's. Tofu tacos are the best. Great neighborhood restaurant.

Man this burger was good. I also got an appetizer called Death Tots! Great food at a fair price. Good beer selection as well.

We had been here a couple of years ago and the food was ok. But now is one of our best breakfast spots in Grant Park.. Whatever they changed keep up the good work because it is delicious.!

Great place, excellent service, extremely family friendly (toys in the corner for the kids), good prices. Love the neighborhood!

I hate when I forget to take a picture! Sorry Guys. This is a very quaint little space in the Grant Park neighborhood with a nice outdoor patio. I ordered the Super Nachos from the appetizers menu, and by the size of it "Super" is right. These were ALL mine. Initially, I thought I'd be sharing it with my boyfriend, but "veggie chili" makes him skeptical! Haha Too bad for him. I asked for a sample for him, and I got an eyebrow raise (Hmm), he seemed surprised & oddly satisfied, bc that's not really his thing. These nachos were mouth-watering and covered in toppings -black/pinto beans, shredded cheese, lettuce, veggie chili w/ the crumbles (I opted out of guac & sr crm). Each bite got better and each bite had plenty of toppings to go on it. --Don't you hate having empty chips when eating nachos, bc all the toppings got demolished early on?-- NOT the case THIS time, there was plenty to spread around. We walked home with big bellies, hand in hand. I'm gonna have to order again, via Postmates, the only downside is that the seating, while stylish, are wooden benches and metal seats. Prolonged timing will cause your legs to fall asleep. LoL I plan to order the turkey burger, I can't wait!

Traveling with our two grandsons ages 5 and 7 and were looking for a casual family friendly place to dine. They had a great children's menu and were very accomadating . The food was excellent and portions were large. Very budget friendly as well. Had books, crayons and coloring books to keep kids while waiting for food to arrive, which was quick. The service was excellent as well.

This lovely restaurant came recommended to us by someone we were chatting with in a park. It was not located in the area of Atlanta where we were staying but the person said it was SUPER family friendly, food was great and it would be worth the 15 min drive. She was not wrong. We went on a week night with two boys in tow ages 9 and 7. Booths are huge, outdoor seating was plentiful. We chose to sit indoors so that we could spread out the card game we brought with on the giant table. There is a corner with toys/books for kids but we brought our own. The service was quick, helpful with recommendations and pleasant. The food was very good as were the drinks. I'm so glad we found this place. Next time we are in Atlanta we will be sure to go back.

I was in limbo between 3-4 stars because the service was extremely slow. We went here on a whim wanting to try something different and I am glad we decides to give it a try. We sat outside to enjoy the cool morning air and partake of a new breakfast experience. We orders the Eggs Barcelona and the Baby Daddy Skillet. Let's start with the eggs barcelona. It was poached eggs on top to beef brisket and a tomato on an English muffin with sauce. It was so flavorful and delicious. The baby daddy skillet consisted of potatoes, onions, apples cooked in a brown roux topped with cheese, two poached eggs and a sauce. This dish was delicious until I tasted the apples. (I don't do cooked fruits) The roux was to die for and everything entangled together to create a savory dish with the exception of the apples. Off street parking is crucial in the area. We will be back for round 2.

Hello! Local hang-out extraordinaire. As near to a pub as I have found in ATL and majorly chill! There is a good deal on pitchers on Tuesday nights too. You gotta go!

BRUNCH BRUNCH BRUNCH! If you find yourself in this neighborhood and want a delicious brunch without the wait and without the attitude then visit DAKOTA BLUE (see my disclaimer below about Ria's Bluebird). The breakfast is fairly standard but the SPECIALS are OUT OF THIS WORLD. I am in love with their Baby Daddy Skillet (baked with Apples, Potatoes, Bacon) and served with Eggs Benedict over the top is Ah-mazing! I am a picky person and I've gotten this dish several times and it is sheer perfection. They have several other specials that sound De-lish. I would give the place 5 stars alone for the food. The service is friendly if a little scattered (but someone tell me where in this part of town the service isn't a little scattered). The space is extremely inviting and they even have a little section of toys for this tots. If you hate yourself and want to wait ages service shooting you the middle finger (then go visit the RUDE people at Ria's Bluebird who advertise on their menu that they specialize in customer DISSERVICE)! I don't care if God made the pancakes I wouldn't walk in their door.

A favorite, for sure.

Had lunch here on a laid back Sunday afternoon. Perfect day to sit outside and enjoy the spring weather. Service was slow, but we weren't in a hurry. My burger was tasty. A few friends ordered brunch. One had the Baby Daddy Skillet. It looked delicious, and she said it was! Definitely kid and dog friendly. If you are in the area looking for decent food and can catch a table outside, don't pass up Dakota Blue.

I had high expectations for this restaurant, which many of my friends and acquaintances recommended. Sadly, I was disappointed several times. First, the waitress didn't bring our complete order. We had to remind her of what we ordered. The drinks, the entrees, etc... Would you like a refill of tea? Yes, that would be lovely. Sorry, we're out of unsweetened tea. Never mind. We may come back and give them another chance, but probably not. There are so many other choices in Grant Park.

We went here for lunch on a Saturday after visiting the zoo. First of all on weekends you can't order off most of the menu. We wanted nachos but were told no. My husband ordered a skillet that was greasy as heck and I ordered a burrito asking for extra pico de gallo and barely got any at all. The waitress parked her butt with a fellow employee gabbing away and when my husband got up and asked about drink refills, her fellow employee looked at him like he was an alien from another planet for expecting our waitress to...WAIT on us. We won't be back.

After a trip to Zoo Atlanta, we were hungry and our usual haunt in that part of town was mobbed. We decided to try something new and are glad we did! Dakota Blue feels like many of the restaurants in Boston, located in an old building with some outdoor seating along the street. Very nice server and extensive menu. My son enjoyed a large steak burrito with a side of chips. My friend and I each had different large salads. Great dressing and liked the sesame seeds and blue cheese crumbles on the salad. Will visit again after our next zoo visit!

husband loved his burger...my salad was ok, but some sad lettuce greens in there...stick wtih the burgers, fries, tots, dips, etc. Nice place for people watching. Great service. Reasonable prices.

Dakota Blue is an outstanding intown Atlanta neighborhood restaurant. However, it is located in the Grant Park neighborhood, not Sweet Auburn as listed on TripAdvisor. It is very casual and kid-friendly, with great food and reasonable prices. There is a small bar area, outdoor cafe seating and a small indoor area with wooden benches and tables. The menu has expanded beyond it's original burrito beginnings and now has quite diverse offerings with excellent burgers, crab cakes, outstanding meatloaf and changing daily specials. Weekends also bring a delicious brunch! And if you need to walk off all that delicious food the 131-acre Grant Park is only 1/2 a block away. If you're coming down to see Zoo Atlanta this is definitely a good place to bring the kids afterwards.

Some friends recently treated us to lunch at this restaurant that they enjoy. I generally love any Mexican food, so I ordered the Veggie Burrito ($6.25). It was the most bland Burrito I've ever eaten! The menu claims it contains: Fire roasted poblanos, guacamole, and sour cream, all which were undetectable. It did contain unseasoned beans, rice, mushrooms and spinach and a tiny bit of cheese. Incredibly bland! The restaurant was practically empty at lunch time when we were there. Service was prompt and friendly. If I had been alone, I would have talked to the waiter about my food. It is difficult to believe they have a professional cook here. My friends both ordered burgers, which they seemed to enjoy. So, if you must go here, do go for a burger. Also available are: soft tacos, cuban sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, soups and salads. This restaurant is best for families with children and dogs who want an economical meal in a Grant Park location. Indoor seating is in wooden booths (no cushioning). There is outdoor seating if you don't mind eating with dogs at your ankles. Water bowls are available for dogs. Children can entertain themselves with sidewalk chalk. Nearby street parking available.

Quaint, casual and relaxed. A bit basiic in the decorations but vert good food at low prices and outstanding service.
Ceasar Salad with Grilled Chicken!
I have been on a Dakota Blue kick and ate there twice last week and twice the week before! The ceasar salad with chicken is super fresh and large shavings of cheese make it super yummy! My husband had the burger and tots and my friend Chris had the fish tacos. All FABULOUS!
