Top steakhouse in Dallas

By Charlotte G |

This was the best meal I had while visiting Dallas. The waiter (Gideon) and the sommelier (Brad) were attentive and gave good recommendations. The food was outstanding but I will say pricey. The tater tots were delicious and I did the fish special of the night and it was amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection and they didn’t leave the table until they ensured it was cooked to the right level. The bathrooms were clean and so was the rest of the restaurant. Perfect spot for a special meal with friends or a date night. I like that the sides were shareable. The meal was more then enough to satisfy. They were also conscious of food allergies.

Great food and staff with a “speak easy” vibe.

Exceptional food and service. The steaks were perfect. The sides were outstanding… the creamy spinach… amazing! Expect $200+ per person.

A lovely evening

My first time here. Celebrated my birthday. It was really a treat. Andres and Brandon took great care of us during our delicious meal. The steaks were cooked to perfection along with everything else. The atmosphere was cozy and the place itself breathtaking. Will definitely return on my next trip to Dallas. Andres and Brandon thanks for making my birthday special.

Christian Johnson was STELLAR!!!

By Stephanie & Steven |

I almost never write restaurant reviews, but we met a waiter in training last night who had to be recognized publicly.. Christian Johnson was his name and he was phenomenal. This is his first waiter/restaurant job and let me say he is going to ROCK as a waiter or anything he does in life! Definitely a huge asset for Dakota’s Steakhouse. Thanks again Christian for making our experience stellar!

Dinner with friends

Amazing experience, steaks were cooked perfectly and the Ferris wheel dessert at the end was extravagant. Most definitely coming back.

Great experience

We had a very nice evening. I had the fish, and I usually hesitate to order fish at a steak house, but it was most excellent. My wife had the filet, which she said was quite tasty also. Ceaser salad was good. The potatoes and esp the tator tots were very good too. The only "issue" was the dress code that they harp on the website was NOT enforced. Ball caps, jeans, etc. Why can't people get a grip...there's a McDs near by and its a lot cheaper, so why dont they go there? This seems to be a problem every restaurant has, so I'm not faulting them for it. It's the woke culture, which hopefully will go away soon now that we have real leadership again. We will be back and highly recommend!

Best steak ever!

This was THE best restaurant that I have ever had the pleasure to visit. All the way from Scotland, we were in Dallas as part of a roadtrip to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. He had clam chowder to start, and the New York strip for his main course with parmesan and truffle fries. I opted for the filet mignon with the brussel sprouts side. And for dessert I chose the tiramisu cheesecake. The food was amazing and the service from all the staff was first class. I agree with other reviews that it's $$$ but totally worth the experience.

Great food and atmosphere!

It is always a joy to visit this fine restaurant. The service is impeccable and the food delicious! I was a solo diner early on Saturday evening and they sat me in a nice table so I wasn't so conspicuous, which was a nice touch. Their steaks are delicious and cooked to perfection. I also enjoyed lunch earlier in the week and it was equally as good. They have nice lunch specials.

Fancy steakhouse with view!

By Ash D |

Fabulous steakhouse right in the uptown! It's very unique as it's on lower level than the street level. Good food, great service and very nice ambience. They did it special for our anniversary, and cake was complementary. We left with stuffed belly and smiling faces! They do have valet!

Worst Birthday Dinner Ever

By Dominique B |

Flew all the way here from Missouri just to have my birthday dinner. Got told over the phone that I needed to place a $25/per person deposit in order to have dinner there. Cool. They sent me the link and I did it. I was told the deposit would just go towards the cost of my meal. The hold was placed on my card as soon as I paid it. Fast-forward to post-meal, they tell me they need to see the card I paid with so it would “prove I was at the restaurant” weird, but okay. I gave it to them. They came back and said I would need to pay the deposit all over again because my card didn’t have a chip. I told them no, because this would put another hold on my account that wouldn’t release until the next week due to this being a holiday weekend. Their “answer” was for me to have someone else at the table pay for my meal. LIKE, WHAT?! I said no. We finally worked it out to where I could keep the deposit on the original card, and pay like a $7 difference because my meal cost the deposit + $7. I gave him a card at the same everyone else did at the table, and HE RAN ALL OUR CARDS WRONG AND I ENDED UP PAYING AN EXTRA $190 for someone else’s meal! On top of the deposit I paid!! so now I’m out extra money on vacation with no hopes of getting it back until the next week when the bank reconciles it. The general manager was like, “I don’t understand why you’re upset, it’s coming back to you”. YEAH, DUDE, after my vacation is over! And now I have to account for all the extra holds on my account due to your errors! Poor customer service and absolute negligence on their part. Do better with people’s credit cards. We will NEVER be back.

First Class All The Way

By Carol F |

I have heard a lot about this place. Was in Dallas on other business and decided to stay for dinner. Everything was Great. Highly Recommend… This is not the place for a Cheap Meal… If you want First Class and are willing to pony up the $$$, this is your place. I will be back.

Food great, but an attitude

By B Wood |

Our group of three came in without an reservations, but it was early on a weekday. The hostess offered us the bar for dinner. As I noticed many open tables? So we stay up there and ordered. The bartender/waiter was okay. The food was excellent, but we paid for it. The steaks did meet our expectations. As the night progressed, one large party came in, but there were still open tables. I think this could have been handled better.

Too Pricey, Low Quality

By Chad B |

Not recommended for steak dinner if you care about being welcomed, great food, and good service. Of course if you are a regular there you will get better service and more attention. From the time we walked in it was like we were interrupting a social gathering we were not invited to attend. Then our server could have had a bad day but was very short like we were bothering her. All that and the most disappointing part was the food. The crab cake lollipops are an interesting take on a crab cake and was the best thing we ate there although dry. The steak was one step over an Outback for 5 times the price.

Always happy

Really good steak in a tasteful atmosphere, perfect side dishes and good wine selection. Easy to recommend. Were skeptical at first about the underground venue, but that's exactly what makes it!

Great Texas Steakhouse

By sj2013_13 |

I had the most wonderful experience at Dakota's. I arrived at 5p, and waited in the bar for a few minutes. the bartender was very accommodating and offered my samples of the wine so I could make my choice. The hostess, greeted me by name when I returned for lunch the next day!! My server was Taiba. She was great! Very helpful in helping me chose a selection. The Filet Mignon was prepared perfectly, and melted in your mouth! The hashbrown appetizer was very good, especially the sauce on top. It was a house specialty, and you should order it. The brussel sprouts were also very good. The atmosphere is comfortable and the view of the waterfall was nice. The service was excellent. Everyone was attentive. I had lunch the next day when I ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich. It was also prepared very well and was very tender. The portions are huge! You will not be disappointed with Dakota's.

Hot off the street.

We were attending a conference and wanted to eat a good lunch. We were within walking distance to Dakota's so off we went. Once inside we were warmly greeted and seated. The Hostess noticed our conference badges and thanked us for our service. Our waitress (sorry I forgot her name!!!!) Explained all our options. She over heard me joke that I was chilly (it was 98⁰ outside) and offered us shawls which we gladly accepted. I had the shaved ribeye, a very big sandwhich which was perfectly seasoned. I splurged on a tater tot appetizer. Tasty and fun. That, I did not share. My friends had Caesar salads and the clsm chowder, again large portions. The chowder had a hint of tomato, something spicy and bits of vegetables and clams. Yes, it is pricey but delightful is not free. I will remember my lovely meal in Dallas

Good enough to go back to back!

We dined at Dakota’s on a Friday night and it was so good, we went back on Saturday!! The bar was excellent and our server, Reshawn, was one of the best we’ve ever had! Steaks were on point! For apps we got the crab cake lollipops (YUM!), tater tot bites (YUM!!), lobster corn dogs (just okay), oysters (YUM!!!), and clam chowder (YUM!). The Mac n cheese was phenomenal as were the loaded mashed potatoes (WOWWWWWW!!!). Those are a must get! They have a celebration cake that is incredible. It’s not on the menu, but I think it’s a complimentary item they bring out if you’re celebrating something.

Excellent Experience!

My husband took me to Dakota’s for a landmark birthday celebration. This was the most exquisite restaurant I have ever eaten at. The service was impeccable! The ambiance was pleasant, with a gentleman in the background softly playing a Baby Grand Piano. My Beef Wellington, which was the first time I have ever had this meal, was incredible! The wine was superb. They have an excellent menu, with several choices to choose from. This was excellent experience.

Highbrow Heaven

We booked a reservation at Dakota’s to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary as a family. Our table, which was in an alcove, was decorated and included a personal note upon arrival (which was really nice). The food and wine recommendations our server Nick C and the wine concierge made were spot on and delicious! Thank you, Nick C, for making our anniversary so special ❤️

Top Shelf Steakhouse!

In Dallas for a wedding. I’ve traveled for business for 45 yrs and this may be the best steakhouse I’ve ever been to. Top quality food, service and atmosphere; it has it all.
