So many options

By Brandi R |

Stopped for a quick lunch after the GWB Library. Conveniently this is located very near the DART train. Got the order of free grilled cheese dipping sticks for checking in on Facebook. The best part was the tomato piping sauce. The menu was kinda overwhelming as it’s hard to choose what you wanted on your grilled cheese. Went with the Cuban with waffle fries and wasn’t disappointed. Good portion sizes, wasn’t able to finish. Service was a little lacking and the wait staff tended to hang around the front counter chatting.

Who would have thought

Awesome to have a restaurant on your comfort food of grilled cheese. Staff was very quick and worked well together. Food was so tasty.

Best grilled cheese restaurant ever!!

By Shellco |

Just as the name implies they serve a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches (think classic grilled cheese, mexican style, italian style, etc). The french fries are delicious but the onion rings are outstanding. You can get homemade tomato soup or even classic Campbell's tomato soup. And you can get bacon added to literally anything. The space is industrial style & the service is friendly and attentive. Parking can be a pain. This place can be a little hard to find because it is on the backside of a building squeezed into a corner but it is well worth finding. Everything we've ever had here and been fantastic. Definitely give it a try - unless you're vegan!

First Time to Dallas Grilled Cheese Company

By Rebekah R |

Food and atmosphere are great! Dallas Grilled Cheese Co., had just opened, and they are still trying to work the kinks out on the timing and deliver of meals. We will definitely return and have recommended it to several friends and coworkers.

Plenty of choices

By mmattern213 |

There are lots of options on the menu. Sandwiches are filling and a good size. Our waiter was friendly and engaging. We enjoyed our lunch and the atmosphere.

NO MATTER WHAT YOU CHOOSE, YOU CANNOT CHOOSE WRONG

By Whitney M |

The menu is amazing from beginning to end, top to bottom. I ordered a sugar plum sangria which was to die for! It was like the holidays in a cup with a dash of cinnamon to top it off. For lunch I ordered the French connection soup and the Cattlemen grilled cheese, I wish I could have eaten it all at once. The portion was great and my taste buds were alive with flavor. So good! Just go! Eat and be merry! Also everyone was so friendly and helpful.

Gluten free bread grilled cheese!

By Robyn G |

I visited the first week and so I will not speak of the service because I went during their lunch hour and they were slammed. They were very nice and polite and knew the menu. I will say that the grilled cheese I had over gluten free bread was very good. I haven't honestly made a grilled cheese since being gluten free and I really enjoyed the sandwich. I also got their carmel and sea salt shake and it was DELICIOUS. Their soup was not gluten free so if you are looking for a soup and sandwich, you should look elsewhere.

Yum, Yum, Yum

Classic Grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup and to top if off we started with Maple Bacon skewers with grilled pineapple. Oh yea, and a Shine Bock! Always a Shiner Bock in my hand when I am in Texas!

Grilled yumminess....

By Okiedevildog |

We had to try this place, especially since everyone loves a good grilled cheese. Has many different grilled cheeses to choose from, 3 soups and different salads. We waited about 5 minutes for a table and was greeted within minutes. Wife had the tomato basil soup, which was creamy and zesty also the jalapeño popper grilled cheese which she enjoyed. I had potato soup very creamy and garnished with bacon and cheese, also had the roast beef grilled cheese (bbq sauce comes on the side). Would highly recommend stopping by here. Parking is limited but don’t let that deter you from enjoying an American classic with a flavorful twist.

Delicious!!

By sylcas_87 |

My family and I ordered different things on the menu. We wanted to try so many things on the menu. We had the 1st D’s BSTC-Grilled sourdough with bacon, spinach, tomato, Gruyére. 2nd Barbacue with macaroni & cheese 3rd Italian ham, cheese, spinach, with apple butter sauce. 4th Arizona Salad. Everything was delicious. If your in Dallas you have to stop by the Dallas Grilled Cheese Co!!

Excellent comfort food

By Stonequeen2412 |

My husband and I stumbled upon this place and really enjoyed it. Excellent comfort food and great selection of local beer! I had a Via Domitia and a half Eruca Salt salad and it absolutely elegant and delicious. Perfectly grilled. Next time I'll skip the sandwiches and just go for the Elvis on the desert menu. Looked amazing, just too full to order!

Good food

By Nated2519 |

Good food, drinks are pricey. My wife drank the bacon bloody mary. If you like bloody mary's and you like bacon you must try.

Delicious!

By Lindley A |

This place is a MUST if you're in the bishop arts district. The food is delicious, and the drinks are divine! They have a weekend brunch until 3 pm, and serve Bloody Mary's, mimosas, and more. Try the grilled PB&J!

Winter Warmer

By Tim W |

I had the Rahr Winter Warmer, jalapeño bacon grilled cheese with the potato soup. The sandwich had pretty good heat and the Rahr complemented it perfectly. I could have also just had the potato soup as it was just the correct temperature and highly flavorful.

Delicious!

By Andreea S |

Just amazing food! We really loved it, we were in the Mockingbird location and had a great evening! The food is delicious no matter what you choose and service was great!

How Do You Mess Up Grilled Cheese?

By Rhonda F |

I'll tell you how, by providing subpar service and incomplete orders. We visited the Dallas Grilled Cheese Company in Mockingbird Station after my bragging about a grilled cheese restaurant I'd visited on another trip. We were seated behind a wall, which may have been the start. They offer a free appetizer if you post on social media that you are there. And that was the highlight of my experience. After taking our order, we never saw our server until our meal was over. He never came to or take to see if or food was okay, to refill or water glasses, to clear or table. If he had he would havs seen that our order was incomplete, our Coke needed to be refilled and our water glass was empty. The appetizer (regularly $5.99), grilled cheese sticks with a tomato basil soup for dipping, was quite good. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side, which never came, of sweet potato waffle fries. The sandwich was just mediocre. n

Mockingbird Station - GREAT place to be!

By Cecelia S |

Wow! Talk about gourmet comfort food! A friend suggested we try this place out - and I am so glad we did! It was the Perfect Day for grilled cheese sandwiches... rainy and cold! But you forget the rain from the moment you step inside! Bright, warm, and cheerful with "golden oldies" playing just loud enough to get feet tapping but not so loud as to hinder conversation. We started off with an appetizer of crispy grilled cheese sticks, with a "dipping sauce" of their tomato basil soup …. I could have eaten nothing but THAT and been happy! I had a bowl of their French Onion Soup -with a generous slice of melty gruyere cheese toasted to perfection, paired with their "favorite" grilled cheese. My friend had their "old fashioned" with fries. Both sandwiches were grilled to a perfect crispy and melty point, and neither of us managed to finish the whole sandwich! The waitstaff was cheerful and helpful. My coffee was kept fresh and full, and we never had to "look" for anyone. Just the right amount of service to let us know we were taken care of, but not enough to interrupt our (LONG) catch up time! Even though the restaurant was slammed (in spite of the downpour!) we were never made to feel rushed. Located on the bottom level of DART's Mockingbird Station, it is surrounded by empty spaces that are being renovated. Don't let that stop you … this restaurant is definitely the place for good food with friends! You can get there easily by car or public transportation … so no excuse for NOT going!

Excellent food and service

By Konrad W |

Ordered the Spicy Two Pork & Cheese and the Cubanesque. These perfect grilled cheeses along with Julie's prompt and attentive service made this particularly overcast day one to be remembered fondly.

Worth every penny !!!

By Kbryson1976 |

We've heard mixed reviews and decided we needed to see for ourselves. Let me say, YUMMY !!! The restaurant is nestled away in a small corner off 7th Street in the Bishop Arts District of Dallas. Very trendy and it also has a nice patio. The classic grilled cheese was super creamy and toasted perfectly. Don't think I could have done it better myself. My wife had the JK's Favorite and she fell in love !!! On top of the classic cheese I also had the French Connection soup and it was full of onions and very hearty with a deep, rich broth. For dessert we tried the JK's Sweet Grilled Cheese and it topped dinner to perfection. Overall, this place totally does the All-American grilled cheese JUSTICE !!! If you're looking for a down to earth, enjoyable restaurant that focuses on what they do best, this place kills it. And when you come in, ask for Marcus.

We Want A Full Day To Just Graze Through The Whole Menu From Open To Close

By Mechlingdom |

We went here with friends this past weekend as a party of 5. How can you not want to?! I mean...Grilled. Cheese. We started with drinks. I had a Mojito that was really good. My husband had a couple ciders....but they were in sorta sissy sized glasses...my Mojito was way bigger. THAT was disappointing. But overall, the beverages were good. We ordered and shared appetizers...the Bacon Cheesy Bites, the Pineapple Bacon Lollis, and the Pretzel-Fried Mozz were all tasty. I was a little disappointed in size again...they were definitely just teasers. Our main courses were more substantial. Everyone got something different and no one was disappointed. I had the Mac & Cheese Grilled Cheese Sandwich because...duh...mac & cheese IN a grilled cheese sandwich!!! It also had a little brisket inside it as well. In addition, I tried the French Connection soup and it did not disappoint either. I had my eye on the DGC Bread Pudding but I had hit my limit...so it'll have to wait for a return visit...one where we might just start with dessert first. The server was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was fun. The prices were a bit spendy but our stomachs convinced our brains to overlook it. With 3 of us on our check, and 4 bar drinks, an appetizer to share, and a sandwich and side each, our bill was just over $100! But I think we will go back. There's still much to explore!

Good, just a little overpriced.

By The Machuca Jr |

I like the idea behind this place because who doesn't want to bite into a nostalgic grilled cheese sandwich that reminds you of the good ol' days when momma was in the kitchen right? I love the style and decor of the place but my only problem with it is the prices of the food. I don't find a bologna grilled cheese sandwich to be worth 6 bucks. Otherwise this is a lovely place and would recommend for anyone to check it out.

Good comfort food

By ballmom1 |

Fun place for good comfort food and beer. Various types of grilled cheese meals. They also serve salads for those not wanting a sandwich. Sports on tv but not overdone. Glad we went, and would go again.

Nothing bad to say here, how can you not like a great grilled cheese...

By pinhigh18 |

Family really enjoyed the Grilled Cheese Co and we will return soon. Great service, great vibe and a delicious variety of grilled sandwiches. Desserts looked good, will have to try those in the future. Can't go wrong for a lunch here.

Worth the wait!

By Shannon H |

This is a wonderful comfort food spot tucked into one of Dallas' best spots for shopping and dining. Fun to sit at the bar if you are there as a couple but great for family as well. Make sure to check out the surrounding are for shopping if there for lunch.

Zen Cheese Please

By LaurenK4 |

I ate a late lunch here earlier today it wasn't packed as this new 4 week establishment is getting a lot of people buzzing. Their food is amazing and the portions are plentiful, especially since most is rich, comfort food that sticks to your ribs. They offer at least 2 dozen beers on tap as well as the local Bishop Cider with hand crafted Rootbeer. It's a must try.

Excellent experience. Will be returning. Nick was outstanding

By DonePayingForPoorQuality |

Excellent experience in this quaint eclectic and clean restaurant. The sandwiches are a large size so the price turned out to be very reasonable. I suggest the grilled mac n cheese with brisket and onion rings. They were so good. Nick, our waiter, was exceptional. I've had lesser service at "5 star" restaurants where the total bill was as much as my rent... point is, Nick was just amazing as a considerate and wonderful waiter.

Make Me A Sammich

By Alan T |

On a family outing, we dropped by this place for lunch. They have more on their menu than grilled cheese sandwiches, and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. If you are touring the Bishop Arts District, stop in and say "Make Me A Sammich."

Uneven service

By AppleStud |

The food seemed salty to us. The outside available seating has nice misters. The service was uneven and we almost walked out because it so long to get our order taken.

Fun Dinner

By TexasTravelGal80 |

The grilled cheese was very good. Also had soup that was good. Had Bread Pudding for dessert and was awesome! Our wait was great!

A variety of sandwiches and beers

By bstdflsh |

A good selection of sandwiches and beers. I was told this is the latest in place in The Bishop Arts District. The Reuben was excellent as was the choice of beers. The first onion ring was a bit soggy but the rest were very good, crispy and well done. It is a small place and you may have to be directed. We arrived around 12:30 and there was not a crowd. Leaving at 1:30 the place was full.

Great Sandwiches

By Carol0333 |

Excellent food and service! Nice patio to relax on a beautiful day. Great local beer selections. We loved the sweet potatoe fries! This place takes grilled cheese to the next level!!

Menu has a good variety of dishes to choose from...

By SuziQinTexas |

I had the tomato basil soup and salad and both were good. I do think the soup a little overpriced for the small bowl you are given, but it was hot and tasted good. I had the Julius (as in Caesar) salad and the dressing and parmesan were very good; my only complaint is that the lettuce was not torn into small enough pieces (very large). The croutons were tasty. Our waiter was attentive but continued addressing us as "guys" and we are two middle-aged women. I find that bordering on being rude. We will be back to try some of the other dishes. Service was fast too, I might add. Prices for sandwiches and salads very reasonable.

Cheesy goodness!

By Sharpeipup |

I had seen this restaurant make many top lists so when I drove past it, I had to stop. Grilled cheese is such a comfort food & this place is no different. There was your basic sandwich as well as many gourmet options - even option for gluten free bread. I got 2 sandwiches and loved them both. Different plan on going back!

Great Food & Atmosphere

By Madison T |

I have been to DGCC on two occasions and was pleased both times. The sandwiches are filling and of high quality ingredients. On my first visit I ordered the Caprese sandwich with prosciutto. The prosciutto was different than I am used to (thinly sliced and dry-cured), it was more like Canadian bacon, but still good. The second visit I ordered the Via Domitia which had chorizo, cheese, and fig jam. It was quite good, but my favourite was the two meats and cheese sandwich that my brother ordered. It had bacon, ham, and a flavourful cheese that complemented the pork quite well. My mum got the buffalo chicken sandwich with bacon (as recommended by the waiter) it was very good. We also ordered the starter of bacon cheese bites. They were very delicious! They have a nice selection of beer, a lot of which are brewed in the DFW area. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is a bit pricey, but it is worth the experience. Bishop Arts District, where the restaurant is located, is one of my favourite areas of Dallas.

Grilled cheese goodness

By renwithe |

I stopped by with my family to get a snack. No one else wanted anything, so I ordered the the "Favorite." All I can say is that I didn't get to eat much of it because we ended up sharing. It was a parmesan encrusted sour dough sandwich with a cheddar/Gruyere cheese. Great job. Salads looked excellent too. Will definitely be back.

Excellent service

By Rebekah R |

We had a genuine young lady by the name of Janie serve us on our visit. She was extremely tentative and always gave us refills and anything we needed without us needing to ask. Best service I have had yet at DGCC

Grilled cheese at its best

By 5016DAH |

Newly opened in January 2015. Located on W. 7th in small strip center - between Zang and Bishop in Bishop Arts area of North Oak Cliff. Very active and popular part of town! Large parking lot but it is always full as are side streets during peak hours. (which is all the time). Small but comfortable restaurant with a full bar. Went on late Saturday afternoon and there was still a wait for table. Sat at bar, which has 3 TV screens. Large selection of crafts beers and daily selection of drink specials. Nice selection of grilled cheese sandwiches, soups, salads, appetizers. JK's favorite is Parmesan-crusted grilled sourdough with American, cheddar and Gruyère cheeses, crumbled bacon, Dijon mustard. Delicious. 4 kinds of soups -- Rustic tomato basil, French Onion, Cheesy Brew Soup and their version of Campbell's Tomato Soup. The Cheesy Brew soup had a nice stout for the beer flavor, not a heavy creamy cheese soup which was very good. Sides are fries, onion rings. Handmade Bloody Mary was very good but a little pricey for Happy Hour. And if you have room, they have several Sweets to try -- sweet grilled cheese -- raisin bread mascarpone cheese, with vanilla ice cream or grilled brioche, peanut butter/cream cheese/honey mix, banana slices, marshmallows, hazelnut spread. You will see lots of to-go boxes - it is a lot of food if you order sandwich, soup and sides!

Good sandwiches

By Myopin |

Went there for the first time while visiting family here in Dallas. I was a little surprised that there weren't more choices of "grilled" cheese sandwiches, but the ones we had were really good. The atmosphere was great. It was a fairly noisy place, so don't go there if you are expecting to visit a lot. Place was quaint and fun time was had for all.

Unique Grilled Cheese

By Meredith S |

I mean you can't go wrong with centering a restaurant around cheese and bread. But the unique grilled cheeses are just so good! We keep coming back, because we feel bad ordering the whole menu on one visit, but we want to try them all!

Bad Service and burnt food ! This is so over hyped, grill cheese can be cooked at home!

By Ricardo H |

The server looked totally lost and it took for ever for us to get our food and when we did it was burned. Bad experience and bad service means bad restaurant, we live in the Bishop Arts District and it was very disappointing. Maybe next time !

Great environment food aight

By Judd Kennedy |

The place is in a great location, they will do ok because of the area. The food is ok, The bar is the bast part of the place.

Good food. Adequate service.

By Ashley R |

We started with an appetizer of crispy grilled cheese sticks with tomato basil soup dipping sauce that was free when you checked in on social media and that soup dipping sauce was great, could have used so much more of that! The sandwiches were pretty good! Loved the different takes on grilled cheese. Service wasn’t the best. Our waitress forgot about us. We asked for our check and she then forgot about us again. Another waiter stopped by to see if everything was alright and we said yes, we were just waiting on our check and then he got things moving. It seemed the staff were more interested in talking to each other. But the food was pretty good.

Ultimate Comfort Foods!

By Laura0012 |

Neat restaurant with industrial style decor in Bishops Art District. Their specialty is Grill cheese sandwiches, but they have wonderful soups and salads too. I had the Grill Cheese beer soup and my daughter had the tomato basil soup, both were delicious. We had the classic Grill Cheese sandwich with our soups. Beer, wine, and cocktails available.

Grilled Cheese!

By Beachgirl10328 |

If you like grilled cheese, you'll like this place. I had one with bacon, spinach, and tomato. My daughter had the roast beef. Both were very good. We sat outside on the patio. Service was fast and very friendly. We'll go back. We were there to walk around Bishop Arts District, so we parked a couple of blocks away, but there is a parking lot in front of the patio.

Great Sandwiches!

By babypanda94 |

It was my first time eating a grilled cheese sandwich and I loved it! The People there are super friendly and food tastes great!

Best Grilled Cheese

By DudesAdrift |

Those of us who grew up on grilled cheese, salivate at the mention of it. But this place outdoes any grilled cheese I have even eaten before, made myself, or dreamed about. Great menu, although they are often out of my favorite beer. Their soups are just okay, but they pair well with the sandwiches. They also turn out a great salad. Friendly efficient waiters, great decor (love the restroom plumbing), nice patio (all be it overlooking the crowded parking lot, make it the perfect spot to bring friends and family.

So very Good!

By Kathy S |

We split a Prime Rib grilled cheese & my son had a grilled baloney sandwich, he liked it! Tomato basil soup & baked potato soup were loved at our table!

Love this place

By L Y |

Grilled cheese heaven highly recommend, great place to meet friends, super nice staff, fast delivery. Will definitely return

A delicious addition to Bishop Arts

By jooles_p |

We went to the opening night of the Dallas Grilled Cheese Company and it was delicious. It is a cozy and inviting restaurant with a full bar, what looks to be a big patio, and amazingly tasty grilled cheese sandwiches with the usual accompaniments to choose from (tomato soup, fries, onion rings, salads). They also have a "manwich" style sloppy joe sandwich and dessert grilled cheese sandwiches. We really liked the choices of local beers on tap and the ones our server helped us pick paired well with the sandwiches we picked. I had the D’s BSTC (grilled sourdough with bacon, spinach, tomato and Gruyère) and my husband had the Corleone which was filled with different types of Italian cold cuts. Both were gooey like a good grilled cheese should be and the toasty bread was obviously well buttered. Fries were just ok, but that might be because we didn't order them with Old Bay. The decor is fun--kind of steampunk with lots of copper pipes and exposed hardware. The "plates" are Texas bbq restaurant style -- metal trays with waxed paper which really works well with a messy sandwich like the one I had. We look forward to going back and trying more of their menu -- I really want to try their tomato soup with a traditional grilled cheese and their version of the Cuban sandwich. The onion rings and salads looked amazing.

Grilled Cheese Extreme

By Jennifer N |

We decided to check out this place based on a referral from a friend when we were visiting Dallas. My husband, myself and our three children all chose different sandwiches but my favorite was the PB & J w/cream cheese. Sounds simple but it was very yummy. The service was beyond wonderful and our glasses were never empty. The neighborhood is very artsy and close knit. Love it.

Meh

By Kayla S |

The food was pretty good. However the wait time for soup was 25 minutes. Menu items are very misleading. And service is not good at all. Its very slow.

Worst grilled cheese ever

By Stephanie C |

This place has the worst grilled cheese I have ever tasted. Very buttery, no taste, cheap ingredients and boring bread. I tried a small piece of three different sandwiches at our table. Each one was so bad that I had a hard time swallowing it. Fries were good and presentation was nice but that is the extent of anything good. The server didn't even ask why we were not eating our food. I emailed the restaurant after we got home but did not hear back. I normally don't write bad reviews but I was very disappointed in the quality and taste of the food and the fact that I never heard back from management. I would not go back and I would not recommend to any friends.

Almost Excellent. Lots of Flavor.

By 669MikeH669 |

My wife and I stopped in this afternoon on a whim. She had been before and she thought I would like it. She was right. Its always nice to see a place that is clean with good food and friendly employees. Our server was real helpful and recommended a real nice Revolver beer. We ordered the Caprese and the Double Pork sandwiches, onion rings and chips. I havent had a sandwich this good in a while. They were both excellent with no faults to speak of. Real flavorful and hot. I can see how some would be upset about there not being more grilled cheese options (just bread and cheese), but I think they offer enough cheesy options for everybody without it becoming too overwhelming. The crowd was a lot of young hip looking people in their mid 20's to 30's. Nice place to hangout and have a beer. They have lots of beer samples and will allow you to taste whatever you like. I cannot wait to come back. Price for two with 3 alcoholic beverages totaled 60 bucks. Its pricey for us, but we would come back for sure. The sandwiches were filling.

Great Lunch

By David C. |

Came for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. I was seated right away and the service was great throughout the whole visit. I ordered the Tomato basil soup and the cubanesque sandwich. Both were delicious..a great place with great food! I’ll be back!

Unique choices!

By jwaldrop25 |

We recently enjoyed Dallas Grilled Cheese Co. for dinner. Our group of four loved our sandwiches and appetizers. Their unique offering are hard to pick from, because they all looked incredible. Beer selection was very good as well.

Loved this place!

By travelinsuemaryland |

The atmosphere is laid back here and the food was super! Our waiter was very nice along with all the staff. My daughter had checked the menu before we went there and knew we must try the bacon, pineapple Lolli's. They are amazing! Bacon on a skewer with brown auger sprinkled on them with a side of pineapple and syrup to dip them in. Wow! Wow! Wow! So yummy! They offer lunch specials but the plain ole grilled cheese worked for me. Check this place out! Worth the visit!

Pricey but yummy!

By Brenda E |

It seems a bit expensive for grilled cheese sandwiches since the fries and other sides are a la cart but it was fun to try the place. I love the decor! My friends enjoyed it!

$10 - $14 Grilled Cheeses... Sides are extra

By Mike R |

Our family... Dad, mom and 3 Kids all reached the same general conclusions: (1) Our expectations were probably too high; but (2) we're glad we tried it; but (3) we will most likely not return. There is a nice selection of grilled cheese sandwiches. We tried the ham & tomato, buffalo chicken, and the Cuban. We also ordered three sides: a cup of tomato soup, an order of parm fries and an order of fried mozzarella balls. 3 Sandwiches, 3 sides, and 5 waters: $43. That's flippin' crazy. It's very good, and it's arguably worth a one-time visit to say you've been there, but it's ridiculously priced for what it is. Truth.

Soup and salad

By Tirzah D |

This place was really cute! I loved the bathroom sink. You'll have to see it to know why. I got the cheesy soup and the Julius salad. It was really delicious. They had a cool desert sandwich called the elvis I want to try next time. Will definitely go back again.

Not your Momma's grilled cheese sandwich!

By Candytxn |

A group of ten women met for lunch after a morning of volunteering. We arrived plenty hungry and left satisfied. We started with appetizers of Caprese skewers and crispy lollis which were both delicious. Several of us were pleased that we opted for the Favorite Sandwich, a parmesan-crusted grilled sourdough with 3 cheeses and crumbled bacon, but fervent glances were cast at the Reubenesque with no forthcoming offer of a sample. Those of us who didn't order the reportedly delicious Bamm-Bamm or DGC Wedge salad shared orders of Sweet Papas waffled sweet potato fries which were gobbled up. Though we didn't order from the bar, the beer and cocktail choices seemed to offer nice selections. The décor is industrial with galvanized walls, industrial light fixtures and clever touches such as metal junction boxes to hold salt & pepper shakers.

It’s not like mama used to make

By Matt & Heather |

So simple! So delicious! We tried the PB&J and the Jalapeño Popper. Both of these sandwiches were amazzzzzzing! Fries were so tasty with a dusting of Parmesan. Good selection of local craft beer. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed! We will definitely be back.

Fabulous lunch

By mocha2 |

Enjoyed a really delicious grilled cheese with a salad and a bacon infused Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary is spicy, so you may want to order it milder if you do not like spice. Service was also very good.

Excellent Sandwiches

By John S |

Food was excellent. But be forewarned it's a bit pricey. $12 for a grilled cheese and ham sandwich. We also had the loaded fries. Tomatoe Basil soup was wonderful. Consumed a glass of Martin House (Never heard of before but a great Ale nonetheless. I'll be back.

Love Grilled Cheese? Get it Here!

By Mandy Murry |

A great Saturday/Sunday afternoon grilled cheese sandwich is always a good idea! This was a charming place located in the Bishop Arts district of Dallas. Ideal for friends, family, or a casual date. You can't go wrong with the classic grilled cheese or any of the gourmet sandwiches. If you love a great grilled cheese you can't go wrong visiting this place‼️

Comfort food and it's finest!

By Erica J |

I love a grilled cheese sandwich especially when you add bacon... and tomato and guyere. This place is brand new, yet feels like home. Exceptionally friendly staff, fantastic menu and one of the best places to take family. Take out is a plus when I work in the area I love that I get to take a little piece of them with me!

Yummy to mu tummy

This is mot your regular grolled cheese sandwich. Very eclectic menue of sandwiches and soups. Nice atmosphere.

A dream come true😋

I am a Hugh fan of the grilled cheese sandwich! And the Dallas Grilled Cheese Company did not let me down- such a array of grilled cheese sandwiches and great soups this is comfort food at its best!

Simply a Great Sandwich Choice

By tphybridtx |

It’s always difficult to decide where to eat when we head to the Bishop Arts district just south of downtown Dallas. There are several good choices, so we had never actually eaten at Dallas Grilled Cheese Co. even though it is usually a part of the “where do we want to eat?” discussion. We finally took the grilled cheese plunge, and a little bit to my surprise, we were we not disappointed. The ambiance was refreshing and the service was outstanding. But the highlight of our meal was each of our grilled cheese sandwiches. I had the Cubanesque and my wife and sister had the P, B and J. Both were perfectly grilled with the right amount of ingredients. I also recommend the tomato soup and the onion rings. If your in the mood for a better than your childhood, gourmet grilled cheese, then this is the place for you.

Grilled Cheese at its Best!

By Ed D |

Great variations on grilled cheese sandwiches. Many types of bread and cheeses to choose from. Lots of combo sandwiches putting meats, cheeses, veggies, and other ingredients together is one delicious sandwich. Great salads, soups, and other items as well. And they put bacon on anything you wish - even in milkshakes if that turns you on. Super staff and service makes it all a worthwhile trip to the Bishop Arts District in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas

Good comfort food

By Dave S |

If you don't want a grilled cheese sandwich, then you won't be that happy with this place, but if you have a taste for comfort food then this will hit the spot for you. There is a good variety of grilled cheese sandwiches to choose from and soups to go along with them. It is not the cheapest grill cheese out there but a lot better option than going to some chain place.

Fun Family Night

By TagTexas |

We met family here for dinner. The thought of a grilled cheese restaurant didn't thrill me. I was pleasantly surprised! The sandwiches, salads, tomato soup, and bruschetta appetizer were delicious. The Mojita was perfect too!

Yum!

By reebster |

Don't think from the name that they only offer plain jane grilled cheese sandwiches here. Most of these are grilled cheese with a twist -- the croque monsieur, "The Dude" (a grilled cheese with "Manwich" meat,) etc. Pretty much anything that you could imagine adding to a grilled cheese sandwich is an option here. There's even a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with cream cheese, and some sweet options for dessert. They offer fries, chips and onion rings on the side, as well as a simple tomato soup. For the more health conscious, there are some salads and a few more elaborate soups. As with just about any restaurant in the Bishop Arts District, parking here can be a challenge. We visited on a rainy Saturday afternoon and lucked into a spot in the large parking lot in front of the restaurant, which was packed even at 3:30 p.m. It's a very popular spot right now. Be prepared to wait.

Uniquely Cheesy!

By ADDallas |

You’ve got to obviously love cheese to visit this place. We went during lunch time to the Bishop Arts District location. It was midday on the weekend and business was steady. The parking area was full, pretty hard to find a parking spot because part of it was dedicated to valet. Our server was good, helpful and attentive. Our table had the combo, with a half rustic sandwich and the French connection soup and the Cattleman’s Grilled Cheese with an order of fries. Both entrees were a good size portion. Loved the both grill cheese sandwiches with the different assortments of cheese.

stopped in for a quick bite

What a delight, delicious grilled chees is the specialty but the menu is full of wonderful items for all ages and tastes. Equally loved the white sangria served in aa generous goblet. Then walk it off shopping in the Bishop Arts District

Average food I can cook at home

By Kristin M |

I was so excited to try this place because I absolutely love grilled cheese. I am a vegetarian, but really call myself a cheesatarian. The atmosphere here is good. Nice and busy it a casual flare. What is disappointing is the food. I got the beer cheese soup and my friend got the tomato soup. It is literally Campbell's tomato soup. The beery cheese soup was probably my favorite thing I had, but it was very liquidy. We got the cheese bits as an appetizer because the maple syrup add in sounded interesting. Let me say, the flavor wa good, but for the price, I expected way more than the four little tiny toast pieces we got. Waaaaay over priced. And, it was literally just bread, cheese and syrup. Nothing spectacular. They only have two vegetarian sandwiches. Either a plain grilled cheese or a caprese, and the sandwiches are all pretty high priced with no sides. No chips. No fries, nothing. It would be really easy to offer vegetarian options. Some of the recipes could be offered for two bucks less without the meat in it. I got the caprese which was just mozzarella, tomato, basil on bread, and it was good, but not spectacular. The mozzarella wasn't anything special and the pesto sauce was so so. Unless I get word the food improves a lot, I don't plan to head back here.

Comfort food your momma fed you

A very welcome addition to the evergrowing array of eateries in the historic Bishop Arts District in north Oak Cliff, this concept makes one wonder why it didn't come about years earlier. Craft beer, local hard cider, milkshakes, and many variations on the grilled cheese sandwhich. Very affordable prices make this popular with families. Light filled interior. Savory sandwhiches and creative and ample salads. Only wish is that a gluten free bread were an option. The young waitstaff are good.

Well-excuted twist on a classic comfort food

By awm15 |

I have been to this restaurant twice now and have had an excellent experience both times. The two spicy pork grilled cheese is my favorite hands-down. You just can't beat the sweet and spicy combo, plus who doesn't love bacon? I forget the name of the second one, but if you see a menu item with gruyere cheese, spinach and bacon (again, who doesn't love bacon?) you can't go wrong there either. Their sweet potato fries are outstanding, almost worth the trip by itself. My only critique is that it's a little pricy for what it is, but then again that seems to be the norm in Dallas. I highly recommend this restaurant if you find yourself hungry in the Bishop Arts area.

No Thanks

$15 for a half salad and coke. I can't afford to eat here for work lunch. I don't care how good it is.

Grilled cheese bonaza!!

By LTtravels2003 |

The menu was so packed with amazing things, it was actually kinda hard to make decisions. Bacon is also heavily featured. We went with the kids on an afternoon, but I would go back as a date night or a girls' night out (especially because they make adult milkshakes). A fun concept of comfort foods.

Very good comfort food.

By Aaron E |

This place was dynamite. I picked the adult pb and j thinking it would be pretty basic. Not the case, it was better than expected with great flavor! It paired great with the banana shake! My bride had the onion/bacon and Bri cheese. She loved it. The atmosphere was hip and service was great as well. Highly suggest it. Get there early as parking is tricky.

We are SO glad we found this place! A neighborhood gem!

By SealTN |

In the Bishop Arts District, this is a great place for a sandwich! Lots of choices! The Dude is great! The bologna and cheese is great! We didn't find anything we didn't like about this place! Cocktails are great and happy hour gives you crafted cocktails at a bargain price! Dessert was delicious too! Try it! You won't be disappointed!!!!!

Loved it! Lived up to the hype

By TxTen4 |

This spot will keep everybody satisfied. Plenty of options and some great variations on the classics. A great selection of beers are also available. The restaurant itself is also a very cool design and the staff is very quick to take care of you. My favorite new food spot in Dallas.

Excellent sandwich place

By gallagrrrr |

Had the patty melt and the plain cheese sandwich. Very good! Excellent bread and cheese on both. Would have been five star, but the fries and onion rings do not come with the meal. You must order them a la carte. Not something you expect in a sandwich shop. But still, a great place for lunch or a quick bite.

Over priced

By txchef320 |

I went here with my wife and Brother-in-Law on a Thursday afternoon and have to say.....it is tucked back in the corner in case you don't see it. Very clean and new on the inside. Incredible beer selection. Great staff but the food was just okay. I paid $13 for a patty melt that didn't even come with a side. The bread was marbled rye about 1/4" thick, 2 burger patties which were cooked well done, and a crap ton of onions piled on it. The cheese was there but nothing distinguishing about it. I think it's not a bad place for an app and a beer but find somewhere else to have your dinner. $13 can get you more food at restaurants around in the area.

Family friendly with a bar ;)

So tasty.. I wish I lived closer so I could come more often!! You can eat here with family and kids, or sit at the bar with your friends.

Grilled Cheese to die for

By Damon D |

From the moment you walk in you know, you are in a special place. Simple yet refined. The Menus Drinks, Appetizers, and Sandwiches are extensive in their offerings. Joel provided excellent and personal service with his recommendations and explanations. I had the Special 1/2 Sandwich and a Cup of Soup. The soup I selected was the Baked Potato Soup. Creamy, Chunky Potato Soup Topped with Cheese, Green Onions, and Bacon. It's a Baked Potato You Can Dip Your Sandwich In! Man-O-Man was it good. The Sandwich was the Rustic Grilled Cheese. Rustic White Bread, Smoked Gouda, Muenster and Yellow Cheddar; Gooey and Simply Delicious, Just as It Was Meant to Be. Do you self a favor and treat yourself to a GOOD lunch here soon. Be sure to ask for Joel, and tell 'em I sent you.

Next Level Grilled Cheese

By Scottonli |

While I can't see this being somewhere it would be possible to regularly frequent given that 75% of the menu is variations of grilled cheese (and by that I mean how often can one eat Grilled Cheese?), for an occasional or out of town visit, it's a fantastic option. I went for the rustic grilled cheese which was basically your standard cheese and bread with higher end options. I have to say their mastery of the perfect amount of melt and bread crispness was top notch. I had the onion rings with that, which were also great. We shared several appetizers - The bacon pineapple lollis, pretzel mozzarella balls and chicken wings and all were solid. I read reviews here and on Yelp complaining about the service, but we went at an off time and our server (wish I could remember his name to give him props) was excellent. I was there on business, so the casual sandwich based menu might have played better for lunch than dinner, but their beer selection was also excellent so that made it a great trip. I'd go back when in Texas next.

Super food, great atmosphere, awesome staff

By SamDP |

Our family decided to try Dallas Grilled Cheese Co. before going to the Texas State Fair. Two in our group had already tried and raved about it, so the rest were anxious to check it out. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the nice day. Items we ordered were the Cubanesque, Rustic, PB&J, Chicken & Waffles, Grilled Mac&Cheese, and another one that was spicy with chilies. All were great, however, one of the kids wasn't crazy about the PB&J so ordered the Mac&Cheese. The beer & cocktail selection is awesome - I can recommend the Bacon Bloody Mary! Their fries were yummy as well and one order feeds 2 easy. We had the best waitress ever! Not only was she helpful answering questions, she was very attentive and super patient with our large group. We'd eat here again anytime!

My new favorite place

The Pretzel Mozz starter is AMAZING! I had the Favorite for lunch and it is now MY favorite! WOW! I WILL stop in here on every trip to Dallas.

Sunday Lunch Delight

By DRun23 |

For starters, we had the DGC Wings, which were very good but not great (but it's not a wing place so I didn't knock them for that). My wife had the French Connection soup and loved it. My daughter tried the Grilled PBJ (with cream cheese) but would probably recommend getting it on thinner bread, and the other one got the Grilled Mac & Cheese (nothing special but it was gone by the end of the meal). My wife got the Rustic and enjoyed it. I got the Cattleman's Grilled Cheese and of everything, that was my favorite. I'll definitely try it again.

Try The Bacon Lollies (crispy) w/Grilled Pineapple

By NatashaTxParalegal |

Lunch was really delicious and satisfying. Ordered the Bacon Lollies (ask for it to be crispy!) which is served with maple syrup and grilled pineapple. It was really fabulous. This place has the BEST sweet potato waffle fries I've ever had, and they serve it with this dipping dressing that has great flavor. Can't wait to go back and try some more menu items. The drink menu looks very enticing. Their pick up service is fast, efficient and friendly. You won't be disappointed.

Worth Stopping By For

By Brian E |

You can easily go under $10 for a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich, or more if you're getting fancy. What impressed me about this restaurant was the wood paneling, the clean bathrooms and unique sinks, awesome bar layout, and general simplicity. Perfect portion size. The Dallas Grilled Cheese Company provides more than a sandwich but a larger dining experience perfect for a cheap lunch date with a friend, co-worker, family night out, etc. It has the quality of Chipotle but the experience of a hip, nice sit-down restaurant.

Accomadating

By Hcriswell |

My daughter who lives in Dallas took us to this unique little gem for lunch. Truthfully I was no sure this was my idea of lunch, but great surprise. Located in the Bishop Arts District the restaurant is small and simply arranged but not overly stacked. We started out with the House-made pretzel-coated mozzarella and house marinara, totally awesome and moved on to the fries, regular and sweet potato with homemade ranch dressing, again awesome and fresh. My wife had the classic grilled cheese and loved it, I had the fried bologna and you know this group knew southern made. The staff is wonderful, courteous, knowledgeable and so accommodating on granting request for changes on regular menu. Cant forget the awesome bloody mary, fantastic and the mix was made fresh.

Very Good!

By WildHaireAdventures |

Ate dinner with my family here and enjoyed it. Service was fantastic and prompt, staff very friendly. They have a wide range of grilled cheese to choose from and ours was very good, we would definitely return.

A Twist on Grilled Cheese and Mac N Cheese

By Evelyn A |

Who would think to combine the best of the cheese worlds - Grilled Cheese and Macaroni & Cheese? The folks at the Dallas Grilled Cheese Company that's who! The Mac & Cheese plus the brisket made for one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I have very had.

Great place for a unique grilled cheese

By WendyC7773 |

I've been to this restaurant many times, and it is my favorite place in Dallas. They have a big variety of grilled cheeses, all with a unique spin to them (my favorite is JK's Favorite which has 3 different cheeses with bacon on a Parmesan crusted sourdough bread - YUM). They have salads & soups too, so there is a good enough variety if not everyone in your party wants a grilled cheese. This is a must if you're in Dallas. Enjoy!!!

Delicious!

By Karen Kond |

Visited here after a few hours at the zoo. The food was delicious! If you are a fan of grilled cheese this is a must.

First visit

My sandwich and soup was a good portion but I felt they were both too salty. My food came out fast but the service from the waitress was slow. Sandwich does not come with sides. Sandwich costs $7 to $12 and the sides are around $5

Friends night out

By Shaun H |

Only reason this is a 2 is the service. Food was great. Service was not exist stent. Had to go into building a few times to find waiter or ask another waiter to find ours. Forgot multiple orders and then one order did not make it to us had to go inside to get it ourselves. Food itself is great compliments to the chef and kitchen. Unique takes on grilled cheese.

GRILLED CHEESE LOVERS DELIGHT!

By JBert5050 |

If you LOVE grilled cheese, bacon, etc. this is the place for you!! The Cattleman's Grilled Cheese - pure heaven. And the Onion Rings - best I've ever had!! If your in the area, this is a must stop place to eat!!

Lovely atmosphere

By NicoleDarling |

The drive down was a little sketchy, but it's Dallas, what would you expect. The outside was beautiful. There's a lovely stretch of restaurants and shops. Inside is a rustic feel mixed with modern decor. You can go for pricey or cheap, that's us to you depending on your choices. Sadly you have to pay extra for sides like fries, but they give you enough for two to share. The food was great. I got "the favorite", I asked for no Dijon mustard and it was still on the sandwich but it wasn't too terrible. My boyfriend got "the dude". We both had one of each other's sandwiches and a side of fries. We also had a cheesy bacon appetizer that was amazing. I will definitely come back.

First visit, definitely not the last

This is a great spot in the Bishop Arts district with an excellent selection of local beers. Can’t decide, sample four! Great comfort food here, including fried bologna, PB&J and sloppy joes in addition to the grilled cheese offerings.

Good comfort food, soup is excellent

By russkwtx |

I saw the write up in DMN and since we are fans of Mockingbird station we decided to have some comfort food on a cold day. The restaurant is casual/modern and clean. It's quite small, and size combined with slow service and people who linger for long periods of time add up to a potentially long wait to be seated. We were told 5-10 minutes but in reality it was closer to 25 minutes. Finally seated, there are multiple menus to wade through. It takes some time to take it all in. Lots of options sounded attractive but the wife ended up with the combo, which is 1/2 Rustic and bowl of soup. The tomato-basil soup was delicious and perfect for dipping. I got a full Rustic (3 types of cheese) and it was very satisfying, but could have been served hotter. I also tried the sweet potato fries and liked them a lot. It was a struggle to find our server. Had to wait to place the order and then get the bill. The restaurant has a lot going for it. The food is good, the prices are reasonable, and who does not like grilled cheese? Service needs some work. What should be relatively fast meal turned into more than hour. But we plan to return.

Middle of the Road and Moderate Prices

By Mac Brazel |

On my 3d trip to Dallas this month, I wanted to break the monotony of barbecue and steak dinners on my travel days. So I begin searching for unique places to eat in the Dallas Love area. That’s when I found the Dallas Grilled Cheese restaurant in Mockingbird Square. This is a full service restaurant with a bar, and free parking is available adjacent to the entrance or in the parking garage below the facility. Although the menu boast several exotic style grilled cheese sandwiches, three different soups, and several salads, I opted to go with the rustic grilled cheese which is apparently their entry level sandwich. I also had bacon added to the sandwich and ordered a cup of the potato soup. Honestly, I was unimpressed as there was absolutely nothing special about this food. Seriously, anyone can make it just as well and as easily at home, and for that reason there is no motivation to ever come here again. The bacon had no taste and was grocery store thin. The bread was touted as a rustic white bread, but seemed so basic and bland. The soup was very salty and had hardly any diced potatoes in it by the time I got my potion. I decided to also try the blueberry pound cake that boosted grilled cake, blueberry compote, mascarpone whip, and lemon zest. The cake was dry and cold, the berries seemed like canned berries, and the lemon zest was way, way too powerful and completely masked the taste of the whip. Nice try, but far short of what you’d want to get as a $7 dessert. All in all, the food was average. The service was rushed and short. The place was cramped with short tables jammed in shoulder to shoulder. I pad $29 for my meal including tip, so in my book, the prices are moderate. Next time I’ll just go back to the reliable local BBQ or steak places. This place is truly average, and that’s being generous.

Love the food! ✨

By 𝑲𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒂 🦉 |

Every so often, we go here. I love the classic, melted cheese, warm bread…I’m satisfied. It took a while for the waiter to get us though, and the room was a little chilly, but the best grilled cheeses! There are so many options for grilled cheese sandwiches, I never knew there could be so many! Service was a little slow and my grilled cheese was shockingly small, but still tasted mouthwateringly delicious. Definitely try if you like your grilled cheese.

We were looking for barbecue but found that and more!!!!

By jhmattiola |

We just got into town and were looking for great barbecue. The place Trip Advisor told us about was closed for the day so we asked a young guy on the street and he sent us to Dallas Grilled Cheese company. what a FIND!!!! we got our barbecue with grilled cheese (the brisket was so tender and tasty) and we had an excellent server Eli! he guided us well through the menu and was right on with his suggestions. Awesome beer menu and the sweet tea was perfect! Fun, lively place and they even charged my phone for me behind the check in desk. Do not miss this!!! Great portions!

Grilled Cheese

Awesome place. Staff is really friendly. The 2 pig & cheese is incredible & the onion rings rock. We will definitely be back!

OMG Amazing

There are so many options for your grilled cheese experience! I highly recommend the one with bacon. I cannot wait to go back!

Decent...some health concerns

By BBplusme |

Small, modern environment, mixed with a young staff. I had the best ever onion rings at Dallas Grilled Cheese Co. They were crispy, but fluffy. I know that sounds odd, but the texture was incredible. I actually wished I had just ordered more of them. The grilled cheese wasn't bad, but nothing special. We had the JK's grilled cheese. I didn't like that there weren't multiple cheese options, such as specialty cheeses. I felt like most of their options were really just grilled sandwiches, which they did a good job with...just not sure you should be called Dallas Grilled Cheese Company. The waiters weren't bad, but I didn't like that the men cooking had huge unkept beards. From a health stand point, it really grossed me out to think of the little hairs falling into my food. I honestly didn't think this was allowed in the food industry. Overall, this place would be a 4* if it wasn't for the health concern of eating someone elses hair.

Best grilled cheese in town!

By awm15 |

Absolutely love this place. Fantastic sweet potato fries and too many good grilled cheese options to try in one visit. I highly recommend the spicy 2-pork.

grilled cheese your way

By Jason |

this was another great find for foodies. it's in an area that south of downtown, called bishop district i think. it's got a small town feel, with hustle and bustle of folks walking shop to shop and restaurant to restaurant. The grilled cheese comes in all types of varieties. Everything was very fresh, and very tasty. They also serve grilled PBJ with cream cheese, which is one of the reasons we ate there. Excellent.

Fantastic food and vibe

By Chad D |

I love coming here! I have been here 3 times, and every experience has been wonderful, from the service, to the food, to the recommendations, and to the ease of getting a table. Each time I have been, it has typically been around lunch, and it has been semi-busy, enough that we could get a table almost immediately, and we weren't the only people there. Our servers have always been very friendly with great recommendations, as there is a lot of yummy food on the menu. I would say this is definitely more of an eclectic gourmet Grilled Cheese- definitely not your Wonderbread and American Cheese type place, so be prepared for some spectacular food porn to happen because the ingredients are diverse. They also have a great variety of beverages, between mixed drinks and beers/ales, even some bubbles too!

Cheesy!

By Kerry L |

Parking was a little difficult to find, but we eventually found a place really close. We each chose a grilled cheese from their menu and they were both super good! Our son got the chili. It was a little spicy, but he still really enjoyed it. The service was great! Everyone was so friendly.

Great Lunch!!

By belwil |

We visited yesterday and were very pleased. My husband had the 2 pig sandwich and I had the Bacon Spinach Tomato and Cheese Sandwich. Both very good!!!! We also tried a special which was their Mac and Cheese with green chiles. Expensive at $9.00 but good! i also had a glass of German Reisling. Overall our bill was 39.00 plus tip. Service was great also. Will definitely return!!!!

Waht a treat! Perfect on all levels.

By Alice D |

It is a perfect place! Cute inside, nice servers, great food, fast and presentation is perfect! Not too loud but really a neat place. Parking is always a problem in this area but keep circling, you can find a spot to park. Soups are delish as well. I hear desserts are outstanding but we passed. Next time for sure. You should go! it is excellent.

Great selection in food and drinks!!!

We stopped over here for a quick snack and it was excellent! My wife and I split a sandwich and got a soup. The food was very good and the service was fast.

Not your mom's ordinary grilled cheese samich

By Jay M |

First of all, the atmosphere and staff. Super great. It's in a trendy part of Dallas already, so it better be trendy... and it is! Very chill and extremely warm and inviting place. The staff is just as cool as the restaurant. Really comfortable with providing advice and recommending options. As far as the options, well you would be surprised on varieties of grilled cheese sandwiches could be prepared. All quite unique. I went with "The Favorite" sandwich. And to compliment it, the tomato basil soup. The sandwich was a home run - savory and fresh! Now, as for the soup, although very tasty, was a bit thick for my taste. I guess I was still a bit nostalgic for mom's Campbell's Tomato Soup out of the can. But that's my opinion. Others at my table raved about all what they selected. The next time I have friends from out of town come over, I am definitely taking them here.

Casual Friday night out

By Sutton H |

I ordered the combo with the half rustic grilled cheese and half Arizona salad! I’m not a spicy person, so I didn’t put all the dressing on but I thought both were very good. My boyfriend ordered the same thing but added brisket to his sandwich and it was also tasty. His salad came drenched in dressing and was hard to eat. I liked that my salad came with dressing on the side.

Wanted it to be better

By Mike F |

Went here on date night, was underwhelmed. I love a grilled cheese sandwich, but this was nothing special. Had the brisket one, was expecting shredded meat, it was cubed and kinda hard and chewy. The bacon pineapple lolis as an app were good, but only 3 small chunks of pineapple for 8 skewers? Ok! Had to get up to get napkins and cutlery, waitress brought over bar napkins. Waiter also brought us somebody elses food at first and was a bit snarky when we had to convince him it wasnt ours. I probably wont be back and I so wanted this to be good!

Love the size of the sandwich

By 2111tom |

this local gem is a great place to enjoy your sandwich and other deserts, servings are big enough to share with a second person.

Delicious

By Christi L |

I was fortunate to have been there when the special was grilled pimento cheese. It was last day to get it. I recommend they just add it to the menu. Was the best sandwich ever and the cheesiest. Get a cup of tomato soup too. Wonderful service and reasonable prices. Everything else on the menu looked delicious.

Great service!

By Steph C |

Food was ok, but the service was amazing. Ginger was the sweetest. This was our first stop on our trip. She definitely made us feel welcome!

Underwhelmed

By gsweston |

Not a great experience from start to finish. First, it can be challenging to find parking. Next, the volume/sound of conversation was so loud that we could not hear each other. We asked to be reseated in a more quiet area, but were not accommodated. Then, the table at which we were seated had water dripping on us from a leak in the roof. To top things off, our food order wasn’t correct when it came out.

Yummo!

By bbeachtx |

I have been to the Dallas Grilled Cheese Company a few times now and have sampled several of the sandwiches. While I wish that they had a few different cheese only options, they do have a nice array of choices. The best thing about all of the sandwiches is the great crunch they get on the outside of the sandwich. It is perfect. My favorites are the JK's Favorite and the Two Pork. But everything I have tried has been good. They get really busy during peak times, so I have gone at dinner on Tuesdays and Thursdays which was more manageable and the service was very good. We tried to go a couple of times on a Friday or Saturday and the wait was over an hour. I will be back for sure.

Must visit if in town

By Jason A |

The food was great! Serving sizes were well portioned, you won't leave hungry. It's affordable and your buck goes a long way. The staff was pleasant and our drinks were never empty. I would go back!!

Where's the suped up Grilled cheese?

By Lindsay H |

I'm not sure what I was expecting but I was disappointed on the grilled cheese delivery. They had ONE regular grilled cheese on the menu and a ton of different sandwich options. I'm ok with that but if you are called Dallas Grilled Cheese then I sort of expect a ton of different grilled cheese options. The G.C. was priced right at $2.99 but it wasn't even gooey. I won't every order that again but I could do better at home. My friend and I also ordered a root beer float and the banana and cinnamon milkshake. Those were very tasty but please lose the paper straws! They were disintegrating right in our shake. It was nasty. All in all, the establishment was cool looking (very industrial) but the service was slow and the grilled cheese was lame. Maybe just call it Dallas Sandwich shop...

3 1/2 Stars - Fun Location & Atmosphere - Poor Service

By CraftBeers |

If Trip Advisor allowed half ratings, I would use it here. The location is great. It's in the quaint Bishop Arts district, so it already gets cool points for that. The layout and decor is fun. It's a mix of rustic barn wood, wrought iron and Edison lights. The open air deck is great in nice whether. The service is poor. The host, servers, bar tender and food deliverer all act like they have attitudes. They do not talk, smile or try to make the experience enjoyable. The food was good. The bacon bits appetizer was cheese bread with tons of bacon. It packed a great flavor. The sea salt caramel shake was average. We tried four different grilled cheese sandwiches: Rustic, Via Domitia, The Dude, and The Favorite. Each of them delivered on the flavors described. The fries were good too. I gave this review four stars, but I am positive I will not be back. Bishop Arts is too special with too many cool places that deliver awesome experiences. The attitude here is not my thing. I'm one and done.

Over-inflated prices and poorly cooked grilled cheese!

By goddess0063 |

I was here on a Friday night with a fairly large group of friends. I had high hopes for a good, fun meal. It was certainly fun, and sorta good, but just lacking a lot and in no way worth the price. We started at the bar with some beers on tap. The bartender was great and happily gave us samples of a few things before we decided. Once settled at our table we got to ordering. I loved our server because when someone at the table wanted to order the grilled cheese soup he told them that he didn't recommend it. I loved the honesty and got his opinion when I couldn't choose between two cocktails. His recommendation of the lavender blueberry thing I ended up with was spot on as it was delicious. But it was small and pricey. My husband ordered a bloody mary that was also small and overpriced. And according to him it was so light on the alcohol he couldn't tell it had any in it at all. I ordered the Spicy Two Pork and Cheese and hubby got the Brie & Bacon. There were about 14 people at our table and our food came out fairly quickly (not a great sign). Everyone got theirs except my husband. When his finally came it didn't have any brie on it! He sent it back and got a proper one that fortunately was comped on the bill. How do you cook at a restaurant with "grilled cheese" in their name and manage to make a "grilled" cheese sammich without the cheese? You tell me. My sandwich had issues as well. Though utterly delicious with plenty of meat, it didn't have much cheese, and what it had was merely hot and not at all melty like you would expect. The other half of it was much better the next day when I reheated it properly and got the cheese melted. I had a side of sweet potato waffle fries that were ok, but nothing memorable. From what I could tell, whoever was in the kitchen that night really didn't have a clue how to cook grilled cheese properly. Almost all of us had close-to-burnt bread with un-melty cheese. I thought the service was above and beyond good but there is no way in this world that what they serve here justifies the inflated prices.

Great food and service!

By Pizzakidsrs |

Great service! Great food! The cheese fries were so good. Family enjoy the cheeseburger, rustic, jalapeño popper, and bacon and Brie sandwiches. We also had the blueberry pound cake for dessert. Everything was great!

Great day for grilled cheese and a walk about

By Jeccadawn |

Great lunch to start off our Bishop Arts adventure. Easy parking mid-day to access the area. Quick seating and attentive server. Our drinks were always full. The bruschetta appetizer was good, the bread seemed more like lightly toasted bread than a baguette like I would have expecected. The Bree & bacon was delicious. The fries and onion rings were crispy. My mom had the tomato basil and said it was a bit lacking in basil but over all she liked it. We will definitely try it again in the future!

so good at a great price

By jbza |

Very nice location and interior with friendly service. The fried bologna grilled cheese sounds a little dull on the menu, maybe because they want to steer you to more adventurous and expensive selections, but it was heavenly. Great crusty grilled sour dough bread with rich, gooey, moist melted cheese and thin, fried bologna--really perfect. The others including rustic grilled cheese and Cubanesque were excellent also. Would like to go back and try a brunch item, or get a soup and split a sandwich with someone. Nice selection of beers and other adult drinks.

So glad we went!

By Cathy M |

I had heard friends talk about this place but just wasn't sure about it. My daughter and I went for lunch. I had the fajita chicken grilled cheese on jalapeño cheese bread. It did not disappoint. It was so good and the sandwich was huge. I could only eat half. My daughter had the caprese grilled cheese and she loved it. We split an order of fries. They use old bay seasoning which sounded odd but works. Their sauces are made in house and were incredible. I will be back! I have a whole new outlook on grilled cheese sandwiches.

Love the basic grilled cheese and tomato soup here. This is where we go when we need comfort. The place is small and a bit loud, but the food and drink make up for those.

Awesome New Restaurant

If you like 'jus mac you'll love the Dallas Grilled Cheese Company! Cool vibe in Bishop Arts District. Great variety and comfort food beyond! I'll be back!

Fabulous Cuban

I had been hearing about the Grilled Company for a while, and yesterday I decided to give it a try for lunch. Sometimes parking in Bishop Arts can be tricky, but there is a pretty big free parking lot right in front so I had no problem. I got there around 12:30 and was able to be seated right away. The special of the day was a brisket and cheese sandwich (sounded good), but I opted for their spin on a Cuban and onion rings. I was not disappointed. The sandwich was really good and their onion rings were to die for. Everything on their menu looked great so I will be going back again to sample other items. I also ordered their bread pudding to go (was so stuffed I couldn't eat another bite). The pudding was for my husband and I to share later, and he is really picky about his pudding (always comparing it to his moms). The pudding was a large portion and really good! I didn't care for the bourbon cream sauce they put on the side, but the vanilla cream sauce was great. This is a must do if you are wanting comfort food and not watching your waist line.

Grilled cheese is ALWAYS a good idea...right?

I REALLY wanted this place to be a forever memory...however it ended up being “just ok”. We came on Super Bowl Sunday, so there were happy hour specials all day, so at least that was good. We chose the Rustic grilled cheese and hearty tomato and basil soup and a blood red orange infused beer. The beer and sandwich were really good. The soup tasted exactly, and has the appearance of marinara sauce. Not a fan. The whole place just was “ok”. There could have been more traditional grilled cheese pairings.

Saturday Date Day

My husband and I stopped here to have lunch and it was such a great decision! So many variations of the grilled cheese sandwich and their cheese fries are the bomb not to mention the sangria! Our server was tops too! Great day and definitely recommend the Bishop Arts. My only complaint is I refuse to do valet parking which seems to be the norm. Majority of the parking lot is valet! I just have an issue paying to park for establishments where I’m giving money! But anyway... definitely have to check this jewel of a section out!

Yummm

OMG grilled cheese heaven! Try the “Favorite” or the Prime Rib grilled cheese...... both yummy! Also must have the fries with Parmesan chess and Old Bay Seasoning! Oh, and the soup— try the French onion or the tomato basil ... can’t go wrong with either. Craft beer on tap. What’s not to love??? Tasty! Tasty! Tasty! Can’t wait to go back!

Yes please to grilled cheese!

Love this place. BA district has some great restaurants but with little kids.... Pizza or Mexican are better choices. So happy to see this where parents and kiddos happy. Salads were good. Soup looked good but did not try. Great wine and beer list. Hate only having "house" wine options and there was a full bar without feeling like a bar atmosphere. Have some gourmet grilled cheeses. Not too healthy. But if you pair it with a salad and split the grilled cheese yum. We had a GC with bite apples arugula and figs. Kids were is heaven. So five stars to this place for not being to brunchy bar ish, having kid and mom and dad options, and being nice. That goes a long way when on the verve of a kid hunger meltdown. And the area is cool to walk around in. As usual parking hard but there is actually a big lot in front of this place.

Was expecting better- disappointing...

We came here as a group and tried a bunch of the sandwiches - cut them all into a 4 pieces... Overall, we were disappointed - and we all are avid grilled cheese lovers....the classic sandwich was good, but not great - but is a good value for $2.99. The prosciutto was cut way too thick and wasn't very good...especially at $12.99 for a sandwich...the fries and rings were great- definitely the highlight of the meal... They should offer a better bread selection and more choices of cheese on the classic sandwich... A four cheese blend or something... Or allow people to custom build their own. The PBJ was nothing special either.... Overall, there are sadly much better places to get a good grilled cheese in Dallas - like the Porch, Burger House, Highland Park Pharmacy, etc..

Fancy grilled cheese sandwiches!

Don't think I would bring a whole family here with kids as it was quite expensive (probably with all the drinks is why it added up so quickly), but if you're looking for a fancy grilled cheese, this is the place! LOVED the decor - quirky and trendy. I had the Caprese: grilled sourdough with mozza, tomato, chicken, pesto and fresh basil. Mmmmmmmmmm SO tasty!

Best Grilled Cheese in Town

Started off with pretzel cheese bites and maple covered bacon skewers with grilled pineapple. Then got the classic grilled cheese with spicy ghost cheese and a bowl of rustic tomato basil soup. #sublime

So yummy. I really enjoyed the French soup and my grilled cheese was amazing. They also did an amazing job on the bread pudding. I was so happy with our food. Well done!!!

Good place to go once, no more

I was really excited to visit here the first time because I, as any other american kid, had always loved grilled cheeses growing up. The menu is full of creative spins on any sandwich they can grill and has cheese in it. It is a novel concept, but not really a place that I plan on going back to any time soon.
