Great food & service.......AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++++++ Highly Recommended......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Views Outstanding; Food Very Average

By hakccmd |

Quiet atmosphere with large dining rooms, congenial staff. Brunch/Lunch Menu mostly egg dishes and salads. On the pricey side.

Steaks are actually good, but the staff is pretentious

By T9-Orca |

I actually like the food here, but I only go back every couple of years -- this isn't a warm and welcoming place, nor is it high end. It's good steak but not worth the money. Their competition is better.

Mediocre steak; unusual service

By Ryan M |

With a location on the water, one would hope that Daniel's would achieve a top-tier steakhouse status. Three of us dined here, and the other two guests had fish, both of which were very enjoyable. My ribeye, however, was undercooked (I requested medium-rare-plus and received rare) and an unimpressive cut of meat, served with very forgettable mashed potatoes. For being a steakhouse, this was a total let-down. The waiter also detracted from our experience. There are too many attractive dining options in Seattle to ever waste money here again; the only thing they have going for them is the view.

Long night

By sickening |

Wife and I were staying at a very nice hotel a few blocks from Daniels. The hotel recommended Daniels for a good meal and nice atmosphere. The atmosphere was not bad. The food was pretty rough. I paid $50 for a slab of prime rib that caused me to be sick all night. The next day my wife called the manager to express our feelings about his restaurant. We couldn't even get an apology from the guy (Eric), just excuses. I made a point of letting the entire staff at the hotel know about the lack of customer service that we received and the less than desirable food. The hotel staff assured me that they will no longer be recommending this restaurant! Maybe Daniel's management will learn that the customer is ALWAYS right.

Great place to celebrate a special occassion!

By Jolee J |

Daniel's Broiler on Leschi is one of our favorite restaurants in Seattle! The location and Lake Washington views are beyond compare! The ambiance of the restaurant is "casual - elegant". Great Happy Hour, Great menu. (pricy.. for dinner, but worth it for a special occassion) Excellant service, Delicious food, complimentary 'anniversaty dessert', an evening at Daniel's On Leschi is a truly wonderful experience. (steaks and seafood are thier specialty, and they both right!)

Great Night Out

By Craig I |

Had an excellent meal there with my son and a friend of his during my recent visit. There was a bit of a delay getting seated but we ended up with one of the best tables in the restaurant with glorious views across Lake Washington over to Bellevue. The service was excellent- attentive without being intrusive- and the food was delicious. The steak in particular just melted in the mouth. Will definitely return.

Overpriced and very poor service.

Sat for 15 minutes with no contact with waitstaff. Finally got up to go find someone. Drinks were incorrect. Food average and sides missing, had to take plates back to the kitchen. Bernaise separated and curdled. Don't waste your time.

Not what it used to be...

By SEAtoJHM |

Had dinner with some friends on Saturday night. We used to go to Daniel's all the time, but hadn't been in a while. Things have really changed. What used to be an elegant (yet comfortable) restaurant has become casual to the point of being almost a little trashy. While the food was generally as good as it used to be, the service was terrible. Our server was obviously new, and way over her head. We got our drinks & appetizer quickly. We weren't even 1/2 way through our drinks and she was anxious to take our order. We explained we would order after our second cocktail. When she came to see if we needed more drinks, again she asked if we were ready to order. NO! At this point she got a little snippy, but was fine. We had our second drinks and ordered another appetizer and a bottle of wine along with salads and our entrees. Salads came as did the bottle of wine. The gentleman who brought the wine was excellent! What Daniel's used to be. Finished our salads and waited. And waited. And waited. No server to be seen. FINALLY 45 minutes later (we had finished the wine we ordered to go with our steaks & chops) someone came over to tell us: "We have this party (of eight) who we're taking care of, but we'll get to you in about five minutes. Seriously? Food finally arrives and was pretty good. No one checked with us to see how it was. We finished and were too full for desert, but asked for coffee. Luke warm at best. Waited again while they brewed a fresh pot. When she finally brought the check, we asked that she split it between the two couples. We are usually asked, as is now customary, if it will be one check, etc. When we asked that it be split, that's when the attitude was copped. She returned with the bills and pretty much tossed them on the table. They were wrong, but close enough. Had forgotten I had read they add 20%. Unless we missed it, there is no longer any communication from Daniels as to this practice. We called the manager on duty over to explain our disappointment with the service, etc. We will gladly pay 20% + for good service, but this was less than 10%. His response was "You'll need to e-mail the GM" and went to get her card. He offered to comp a desert or something, but we were full and had already been there for three hours. Yeah, he apologized, but not good enough. If we are going to spend $300 for two on dinner, we expect the service to match the price. Wont be back. Disappointing, as we used to really love this place.

Anniversary Dinner

By Barbara H |

We went to Daniel's to celebrate our anniversary. Excellent service, delicious steak and prime rib, with a great view of Lake Washington. Great for a special dinner.

Great location, mediocre food.

By candsnz |

Great spot on the lake with gorgeous views up to Mt Rainier. Staff were friendly and service was generally pretty good. The food, however, wasn't really anything special. A decent steak with sides, but when you're paying $60 for a steak (the guys ordered the 24 oz ones) it really is not acceptable for us to be asked to cut into our steaks to check they were cooked as ordered! The chefs should have been confident of their abilities, and the waitstaff at the ready, but unobtrusive, if needed in case there was something wrong. One diner's salmon was decidedly undercooked and the Bernaise wasn't great either. All in all, great view, but just OK food and pretty pricey.

7 family members had a great meal

My wife and I rarely go to an expensive restaurant because I like to barbeque, saving a lot of money. Daniel's food was so good, it was worth the price. Absolutely delicious.

Over priced for the service

By Diana M |

Started right when we were seated. Not sure if our server was not on yet, but no one came by for about 15 minutes to even take our drink order. Never got any better from there.

Great food, excellent service, beautiful views...best steakhouse in Seattle

By MarkRanchoMirage |

There are some great options for steaks in Seattle with some international chains and grills, but if you want consistently good quality with first class service (and a great view to top it all) you'll try Daniels. There are a few in the area--Lake Union and Bellevue-- in addition to the Leschi location but this one is my favorite. It's pricey but worth it. The bar is ably staffed with great bartenders and the wait staff, especially Bev, is the best. Salads are freshly made and steaks artfully prepared. When brought to the table, you are invited to cut into the center to be sure it is cooked to perfection. And they always are. The chef is one if the best I've encounters when it comes to perfectly cooked steaks. There are chicken options and the seafood is always a good bet. The sides are generous and the loaded baked potato is a meal unto itself! And all of this plays out with Lake Washington as a backdrop. We live in the neighborhood and visit often-- that's how good it is.

So Salty....

By matt2lee |

Pretty average steakhouse that has multiple locations throughout the Seattle area. The Leschi location is a little far from the main interstate but it gives great views of Lake Washington and Mt Rainier on a clear day. With that said, nice views come at a price. There is a parking garage that is located below the restaurant, one driveway south of the main driveway. It’s a little hard to find; however the restaurant does have valet parking for $7 just outside the restaurant. One driveway north of the restaurant is a parking lot for the marina, which offers 2 hours free parking (check the dates/times though; usually weekends are free. However in the evenings, it’s not well lit so it’ll be dark when you’re walking back to the car). The staff is super friendly and welcoming. They will greet you and sit you down to your table. When I opened up the menu, all I thought was wow, the prices went up significantly since my last visit. Our party of 6 ordered some appetizers for the table including calamari and the fried artichoke hearts (this was free if you tell your waitress you’re checking in with yelp). The artichoke hearts were okay, mostly fried and fatty served with a holindase sauce. The calamari was okay, however the portion decreased since my last visit over a year ago and the price just went up. Some of us also ordered the French onion soup and Caesar salad as starters. Personally, the onion soup was salty and not as hot as I was expecting. I had to ask the waiter for 2 refills of water. For dinner, I had the filet mignon. Note that when ordering your steak, you can pick how well you want it cooked as well as what side you want - you can get vegetables, mashed potatoes, fries, and baked potato. I had the steak fries. Overal, my fries and steak were so salty; however the steak was cooked to perfection and was flavorful. Daniel’s is probably one of the better steak houses to visit in Seattle but I would recommend this for special occasions or if you’re willing to shell out big bucks as it’s usually $100 a head average if you take into account apps and entree. However the price increase and decrease in portion size since my last visit makes this place less appealing to dine at. Also, my dinner was so salty I think I had 8 glasses of water and then a huge water bottle of water when I came back home (and woke up in the middle of night and drank more water). Usually this is expected when I have ramen at a Japanese restaurant but I think this dinner was even saltier. My last visit to Daniel’s last year I sent my steak back because it was so salty and they graciously returned it back with less sodium. I guess it didn’t change since my visit October 2019. I would give the food less than 3 stars but the service and hospitality makes up for it.

A Place to Splurge

By Sarah |

We had reservations at 4:00 Fri when they opened. It was fairly quiet except for the tv. Our waiter, Min, was observant, professional & helpful. Kay, the manager, was friendly. We ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer ($14) which was excellent! Our white bread was served with salted butter and was yummy. The seasonal greens salad ($9) was dissapointing, but the blue cheese shrimp salad ($10) was enjoyable. My husband and I split the filet mignon & lobster entree ($115). The steak was good; the lobster was sweet. It came with broccoli and our choice of potato. The roasted garlic mashed potatoes were a good choice. We left feeling very full. The restaurant was mostly clean except for dirty, glass, front doors. They add a mandatory 20% tip. The view over Lake Washington is nice. There is parking right next to the restaurant.

Happy hour is a steak, really nice food and wine for a good price, cocktail waitress really did her job well.

By Katherine W |

Hubby and I were totally thrilled with this lounge during a late night happy hour on a Saturday night- really good food at great prices, nice big city lounge feel with somewhat crappy singer, he was trying, great people watching and city view, steps from our hotel room. Might be expensive for dinner, but very nice happy hour deal from 9PM till midnight 7 days a week. Very happy with this choice, would definitely recommend!

If you want Daniel's Broiler, go to Bellevue location

By Mark C |

It started with more than a ten minute wait for our server (once seated in a nearly empty restaurant), and didn't get much better. Scallops were lukewarm, with too much citrus, and overpowered with a poor combination of sun-dried tomatoes and risotto. Porterhouse was over cooked on the filet side and had multiple veins. Service was slow. All in all not hard to see why this is a 1000 pt restaurant on Opentable , go to Bellevue if you must go to Daniels Broiler.

Good, but Not Great

By tcck55210 |

3.5 Stars: Good, but not great. FOOD: A really, really good steak! Not great, however. The outside was a little too seasoned for my liking, I like a simple steak, to which I dress that up Oscar style. The baked potato is noms, they bring you all sorts of sides to dress it up, which is a nice addition. SERVICE: The server comes around and shines a light on your steak to make sure your steak is cooked just the way you wanted it; that's a nice touch. AMBIANCE: Love the giant chandelier in this location; love the location on the water. Great view of downtown Bellevue! However, the restrooms are way out of date, and it's a bit disturbing when they don't update their restrooms. The prices they charge, they can definitely afford to update their space a bit. OVERALL: Really good steak, but I find that the Metropolitan Grill is the best steak in town. It's a great little date place, but for an amazing steak, go to Met Grill.

Great meal!

By SeattleMsSully |

Took out of town East coasters here last night. We live nearby and they were staying downtown. I wanted to show them the lake and Mt Rainier was gloriously dominating the great view to the East from this spot. Free parking is nice. The service was perfect. We had a lovely window table, the noise level was relatively low, and Everyone enjoyed their meals. My 88 year old Uncle who has eaten at many fancy NYC, etc places declared that the french onion soap was the BEST he'd ever had! The steaks were delectable and my scallops were yummy with touches of chirizo complimenting the soft creamy cauliflower sauce. This is a lovely elegant yet relaxed fine dining neighborhood spot worth the trip out of the traffic and hassles of downtown Seattle.

Some good...Some Not so

By wemagnify |

Wonderful location, right on Lake Washington, and the Service from top to bottom...all good. Where Daniel's misses the mark, regardless of a pretty good reputation, is food and price. I had the Salmon entrée, my wife had Filet Mignon. I've had better for less. It is pricey. Another tricky miss is you pay Valet Parking, in there own smallish parking lot, which is about 10 steps to the front door. Another restaurant, a few doors down, on the lake, has free parking in their lot, right at their front door.

Just about perfect!

By NMLion |

With Adam as our server, we had a great experience. The service was very attentive, the food was excellent and the views from our table were outstanding. All that was missing was a Seahawks victory over the Broncos. (The TV in the bar allowed us to keep an eye on the game). Our friends with whom we dined brought incredible wine, so that base was beautifully covered. Would we return on a future visit to Seattle? Absolutely.

A Great Time

Took the S.L.U.T. And it dropped us off very close which was nice and so convenient . The staff there was so helpful and cheerful . We were able to get a table quickly and our food came out quickly as well . The food and drinks were out of this world ! Highly recommend this place .

Great Service!

By SHAWNA B |

Great view, quaint location, service can't be beat. The Ahi Tuna appetizer is to die for only wish it was bigger and they'd serve it as a meal! I ordered the Dungeness Crab Stuffed Prawns, presentation was beautiful and it was good but it lacked something, wish I had gotten the special Prime Rib instead.

Excellent Dinner

By jccatlady |

Fresh salads, crusty bread, perfect steak and great service. Add this to a wonderful view of Lake Washington and you have the perfect Saturday evening after spending a day sightseeing in Seattle. Highly recommend this restaurant and would certainly go back.

Mandatory 20% gratuity 🧐

Party of 5 celebrating a birthday. This is an amazing location and we had high hopes for a first class meal but we all left disappointed. We were seated out on the deck and service was extremely slow. We had to go inside to the bar to order drink refills. When our food did arrive the vegetables on my plate (over-roasted broccoli and cauliflower) were inedible. Steaks were stringy and tough. Our server never asked if we enjoyed our meal. Overpriced for all the hype.

We were greeted by a lovely hostess

By lady58_11 |

We were greeted by a lovely hostess, had a seat by the window and a very good wait staff. Then things went down hill. My hamburger... ordered med rare (this is a steak house) came well done on a stale bun and the meat looked a little mysterious. The other guest at my table had disappointing meals..eggs ordered over easy were hard, an omelette with so little cheese and no flavor. The wait for this meal was long and there was very few patrons in the house at that point. I had not been to Daniels in many years and was so disappointed. The wait staff took my hamburger off the bill without me asking and I felt that was very professional and good customer service.

Great Steaks

Excellent - Daniel's has been one of my favs for a long time. Service is great and the food is always very good. I go there on special occasions because it is special and $$$.

Very Good

By Amanda B |

I loved the atmosphere. It was my husband’s birthday and they gave us a nice 4 person booth overlooking the water and a complimentary birthday desert. Service was excellent and the food was really good. I am extremely particular with the freshness of my halibut and they passed with flying colors. The ribeye was superb. I would recommend getting the ribeye with their signature oscar style.

Visiting relatives in Seattle area

Great service. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, very attentive. Food was great. Loved the crab cakes. Can't get that fresh in Ohio. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice. Loved having a window table looking out over Lake Washington. Enjoyed the experience very much. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Great place for a casual dinner at the bar with full restaurant or bar menu.

By MarkRanchoMirage |

The great thing about Daniel's is that you always feel at home there. The atmosphere is proper but not stuffy-- when I think of great steaks in a casual atmosphere there is no better place than here on Lake Washington. We sat at the bar and was taken great care of by Casey who is a phenomenal bartender and creative mixologist. The great thing about Casey is once he makes your drink, he knows how you like for life. The restaurant wasn't busy when we were there but the bar was a comfortable spot to relax and have a casual mid-week dinner. I tend to get the NY Strip cooked to perfection-- medium rare and my partner always gets one of the specials of the day made with chicken instead of seafood (and this is never a problem there). We started with the artichokes appetizer which includes a delightful hollandaise and fresh lemon with some friseé and then had one of the seasonal salads and I always get the calm chowder and add a few drops of tabasco to give it a kick. All in all a great evening with some of the best food. And a spectacular bartender who knows his crowd.

Great view, poor service and average food.

By SeattleKarl |

We arrived at 7pm on a Friday night and there was no host to greet us. We waited about 5 minutes before somebody showed. As we were being seated, we noticed that the restaurant was practically empty…not a good sign for a Friday night. The view from our table over Lake Washington toward Bellevue was great. We were brought water by the bus person and then waited. Sometime later the waitress arrived to ask if we wanted to order something to drink. We asked about a couple of wines and the waitress was unfamiliar with the wines so said she would send somebody else over. After about 15 minutes somebody came to discuss wines with us and we ordered a bottle. We received our wine and then proceeded to wait and wait. Finally after a half hour, the waitress came back to take our order. Then we proceeded to wait more than an hour to receive our food. The bottle of wine was long gone by the time we received our food. The waitress did not check back with us, whenever we wanted anything we had to flag somebody down. This was surprising as only approximately 5 tables were occupied. Now to the food, the Calamari appetizer was “okay” as were the salads. The salmon was good. My rib-eye steak had little flavor and was not marbled, as a rib-eye should be, which probably accounted for the lack of flavor. For $66 I expect a very good steak not a poor or average quality steak. After our plates were cleared we had a long wait again before we were able to flag down our waitress to order dessert. Long after we had finished dessert and coffee, we again had to find somebody to request a bill. We were not in a hurry, we enjoy leisurely dinners, but we ended up spending more than 3 hours on this dinner, most of it waiting for service. Since the best part of the evening was the view, we would have been better off admiring the view from the park next door and going to Aqua for dinner as we have in the past. They have a great view, and great food and service.

Still Fabulous after all these years!!

By Cherie C |

On a recent business trip to Seattle we suggested Daniel's Broiler to some other seminar attendees. The views, the ambiance, the friendliness of the staff are wonderful - and the food is consistently excellent from item-to-item. While known for their steaks, my personal favorite is the Dungeness Crab Legs appetizer. Scrumptious! Somewhat disappointing that the Happy Hour is no longer a true "half off" but simply a discount. We prefer this original location to the more trendy Bellevue or Lake Union location. A little difficult to get to if you're not a local - but worth it in our opinion.

What a treat!

By Mike G |

Amazing views across Lake Washington at sunset. Enjoyed the Dungeness Crab Legs, Steak and of the famous coconut fudge sundaee!

A 3-Star Restaurant with 5-Star Prices.

By CudaRu |

I was not happy with our dinner at Daniel's. While the setting and view were great, the value for the meal was not good. Yes, the food was very good, but not good enough to justify the high prices. $60+ for steak. $50 for salmon. Lots of great restaurants would charge $30-35 for each of those entrees, which would have been worth it. And the salmon was overcooked. While the restaurant willingly prepared another serving of salmon, they then undercooked it, probably to shut us up. Hey, this is Seattle. You better know to cook salmon if you are to be a fine restaurant. Slightly translucent interior. Then, they double-charged us for the salmon, which they later caught and corrected, thank you. We never got our coffee that we ordered, nor did they ever check in with us at the end of the meal when we were twiddling our thumbs waiting for the coffee. A 3 star meal, for what should have been 5 stars. I'm not likely to return, unless someone else is paying.

Stay Away

By James L |

Do not go here. Stay away! . Very poor excuse for a high end, quality steak house. The steaks were of poor quality the sides were tasteless. Not sure who the chef is, but their last job was probably a line chef at Denny's. No, Denny"s chefs are probably better. I should have known better. I had eaten at this Daniels a few years back with some guests form the UK and it was poor, then. This time I had some guest in town from Belgium and they wanted to experience an exceptionally good steak. My mistake to think that they age changed. It was the worst. I had the lamb and it is now 5 am, the morning after. I am about to throw up . No lie. I am a very experience traveler (mostly to Europe) I eat out pretty much every night, so I know what quality food, prepared by a quality chef taste and feels like. Your senses come alive and your feel refreshed when you eat at a top notch establishment. All I feel (from this meal) is sick to my stomach. I have never written a review on a restaurant, but this experience made me feel I needed to warn others. This is an over priced restaurant of extremely poor quality. The only thing they have going for them, is the view. I would be more than happy to speak to management about this, but I doubt they care. I had my meal on May 26, approximately 9 pm.

A Perfect Birthday Evening under the Winter Full Moon

By ibRWC1 |

It was an incredible evening with friends under a full moon celebrating a birthday! The filet and bone-in ribeye were cooked to perfection. The wine 🍷 a Malbec from Argentina 🇦🇷 made for a perfect pairing.

One of the best view in Seattle

Great view and nice restaurant for Valentines Day. Really great Steaks %2 of the best beef in USA - but the Beer Menu is not always available :-)

One of the Best

By BBSeattle |

I've enjoyed Daniel's for over 30 years. I used to go once a week. The steak is the best in Seattle, the service can't be beat, and the view of Lake Washington and Mt. Rainier is incredible. Expensive? Yes. A good value? Yes.

Rude Manager!

By Tina G |

We were here for my husbands birthday dinner last night. We had "Happy Hour" on the patio, which was nice and went inside for dinner. Our meal arrived 1 hour after we ordered. I ordered the 16 oz. Ribeye and a shrimp salad. I had ordered the Ribeye medium rare. It was grey in color, over cooked and salty. I spoke to the manager and she was very rude and said that it took so long because I ordered the salad. (!?!?) She was so rude about the over cooked Ribeye that we just got up and left. We love the Lake Union and Bellevue locations but will never return to this location. We have been to The Port Wine Dinner and the Vegan Dinner at Lake Union and both were very nice. The vegan menu at this location was not good. My husband is vegan.

Early Bird Menu

By B. Richard |

The restaurant has just introduced an early bird menu - 4-6pm - that is a great way to enjoy their great (smaller) menu at a very reasonable cost. Happy Hour prices on drinks makes it a great package. The staff at this location is the best ion the chain too.

Service was a surprising so-so, plus the soda tax!

By jtjems |

Now that Seattle requires a “service fee”, Daniel’s has settled on 20%. I’m ok with that, service is usually excellent, and tipping is optional, and I will tip 20% for good service. Unfortunately, neither was true this night. In addition, because of Seattle’s new soda tax, soda no longer has the customary free refill at this Daniels. So it’s $4 for EACH soda, not $4 for refillable soda. Small irritations? Sure. But I don’t pay nearly $400 for dinner to be including irritation. I’ll stick to dining in Bellevue. The steaks? Fab like always!

Best Steakhouse

By Goody1 |

We have tried all the significant steakhouses in Seattle and our vote for the best is Daniel's Broiler. Our favorite spot is on south Lake Union but the other locations in the area have much to offer as well. At Lake Union the atmosphere is upscale and classy with an active bar scene as well.

Definitely Recommended

By Paul D |

Had dinner there last week. The place was packed on a Wednesday night but we went right to our table. Service was excellent---informative and not overbearing. Cocktails were good and wine list was of good size and selection. I had the spinach salad which was excellent--all of the salads looked good. Steaks were great and all done to order. IMHO better than El Gaucho and Metropolian Grill

Just OK -- not bad, but not great

By esarsea |

This was our first visit to any of the Daniel's locations, and chose Leschi for its setting on Lake Washington. We typically go out for a nice dinner once or twice a year, and were curious how Daniel's would compare to El Gaucho, Michael Jordan's, Ruth's Chris and other steak houses we've visited in the area (the Met is still on our to-do list). The prices are comparable, perhaps a little higher. I appreciated that a baked potato was included with my steak, and not an additional $8 ala carte item. The service was marginally adequate for an establishment that automatically adds 20% service charge to your bill. This goes to figure in my opinion. There is little motivation to go the extra mile when a 20% tip is guaranteed. Maybe it's just me, but I like things to feel special when I drop several hundred dollars on a dinner for 2. Again, the service was not bad, but it wasn't any better than what one might expect from any regular restaurant. The steak (a ribeye) was flavorful, seasoned nicely and cooked perfectly - although it (and the baked potato) were warm at best. In fairness, I like my food hot..but this meal may have been up and waiting for our server long enough to cool off quite a bit. But then again, when your tip is guaranteed... All in all we enjoyed our meal and the experience. But neither of us left with a burning desire to come again.

Dated menu, rude management, corkage fees, service charge-what is the upside?

By crzymnd |

6:30pm reservation on the 4th, prior to the price fixe going into effect, shown to a table without a great view, when one had been requested. After "Dave" berated us for not liking our table outside the kitchen door, he stormed off and sent the sweet hostess to seat us. Horrible customer service in a people pleasing industry. We opted to get Everything and have a full experience since the intro was so offensive. Onion soup-heavy on the sherry but overall lovely and worked. Seared Ahi did not. It was spongy, suggesting age, with tasteless microgreens, sour ponzu, and prepared horseradish-yikes. The wine steward was very friendly with a casual upsell demeanor. We declined the $160 bottle for a $100 bottle, both with an extra corkage fee? What? And then your alcohol, fee and tax are all figured in to determine the tip? Sorry, not in our world. Our polite waiter then brought out the salmon special-nothing special, but prepared as requested, and the petit filet with oscar top. Lumpy bernaise, without any trace a tarragon, atop well cooked filet. Unfortunately, it was dry. Just No. Cute tiny dessert plate with mini creme brulee (perfect), and itty bitty chocolate cake. Cappucino was cold without any sugar on the table....we tried to find value in this venue even after the rude introduction and could not. We would recommend the pretty and inviting bar, with copper topped tables and friendly customers and staff, for sunset cocktails. You will still be charged the 20%, but for just a round or two, it won't be much more than you would normally tip...so many other places have beautiful views, friendly management, and delicious fresh menus....this place needs an overhaul.

Amazing views - amazing food!

By wearymom3 |

This was our first visit to this Daniel's Broiler - and it did not disappoint! For a time we had sworn off Daniel's - Bellevue in particular - because of lack luster service and food. Our son and his wife suggested we try Leschi for my birthday, which happens to be December 31st. It is not an easy time to get a reservation no matter how far in advance you plan. Leschi was wonderful! The food was amazing - the ahi tuna appetizer was so good. My dinner - a filet, rare of course, for this Texas native - was perfection! Our waiter, Eugene, was attentive yet gave us our privacy. We had a window seat where we could see the lights of Bellevue. If I have one complaint it would be to ask for your salad dressing on the side. The kitchen tends to be rather heavy handed with the dressing. A complimentary birthday dessert was great, but my husband still ordered his favorite - the coconut hot fudge sundae. We will definitely be back! We have heard it is a beautiful place to visit in the spring and summer months. Bellevue's Daniel's should take note!

Nice restaurant with an A+ view

By Eastcoastkm |

My daughter, her baby and I went for a lovely lunch on a rare sunny winter day in Seattle. The restaurant is lovely and they found us a nice window table. The view from the restaurant is stunning. We ordered multiple appetizers apiece for our meal and house whiskey sour cocktails. Food was excellent. Service was great. It will become a special place for us from now on.

Service above average and Off the beaten path.

This well appointed setting on the Lakes edge is ideal for a romantic encounter. The food helps. This is not your normal chain restaurant. It has character and a well trained staff. Old wood, new food and great steaks. Ordered a ribeye medium rare... And came just that. Above prime with just the right char. The right marbling to give that taste and tenderness. The garlic mashed...Perfect. The salad.. crisp and not overpowering.

Value??

By SS W |

Not the high value and quality experience as last visit many years ago. Great view and deep steak menu. We shared a bone in rib eye and it was prepared as ordered. For a $79 steak, surprised they charge you extra for toppings. Wine by the glass choices are limited. Beware of the brussells that are good if you like a lot of red pepper. For an automatic 20% service tip, I expected more from our waiter. Very expensive restaurant.

It's wildly overpriced.

By Arthur B |

$70 for a filet mignon. Are they kidding? Anyhow, my filet was tough and stringy. This is not typical for the restaurant. I ate about half of it - should have requested a new one earlier. I advised the server and without hesitation, she offered to send a new one and/or take it off the bill. (We didn't need to ask.) The manager came to the table to inquire and apologized and offered new one. The fries, as originally delivered were undercooked - again surprising. I did ask for new ones, and the new ones were just crisp enough, could have been much more crisp. I think the imperative in the kitchen is to get things done, not necessarily get them done well, or well done. The seared ahi tuna appetizer was excellent as was the bread served at the table. Would I go back? This visit, one of many, was the only disappointing visit. I think maybe the Seattle branch will be the next visit.

Stylish atmosphere & great steaks

By rra_100 |

There is little to complain about in this great restaurant especially if you like to start or finish with a drink. The bar has a super selection of almost any type of spirit you could wish for. The food is really good especially across the range of meats. Maybe not surprisingly in a premier steak restaurant. Also should be mentioned an extensive wine list that should be able to satisfy most palates. Recommended!

Expensive, but worth it

By Cameron F |

Seattle Area restaurants (and life in general) are an odd mixture of casual attire and dressed up. Daniel's Leschi was no exception. Dinner had people in suits and shorts/flip flops. But, they are on the lake and some people came by boat. So, feel comfortable being casual, despite the meal being fit for a jacket and tie required establishment. The food was amazing and the service an impeccable mix of attentiveness, but without being intrusive. The "small" portions are large and the large portions could feed an army; but you won't want to share.

20% service charge retained by restaurant

By Dreamer300928 |

Although the setting was nice on the lake it wasn't worth the price for the view. The food is way overpriced . My particular problem was with their policy of a 20% service charge. I'm happy to pay a service charge of 20%. However, their policy states that the service charge is retained by the Schwartz Brothers Restaurants. They compensate their servers on a base plus commission on sales. So you can't be sure that your 20% is actually given to reward someone for just great service. Maybe you didn't order a lot but the service is wonderful.

Good Food

By Didi33133 |

It started with the bartender complaining that my friend carrying in a bottle of water was in violation of Washington's open container law, and it went downhill from there. You need a good manager to run an excellent team. Manager was snide and unhelpful. Clients are not given the option to tip or to change the mandatory service fee of 20%. I think not tipping demotivates excellent service. Food was really good. Location was good. Space was really nice.

One of my favorites

By SeattleChris001 |

I travel a lot and am fortunate to try a lot of restaurants, particularly steak places around the world, and Daniels consistently ranks among the top I have visited. The steak is tender and well prepared (they sear the steaks but not with a heavy crust that can take away from the experience), the service is top notch, the wine list is excellent and the side dishes and extras are to die for (if you like French Onion Soup, they have the best I have ever had - - - and I LOVE French Onion Soup). The Leschi location is the original Daniels (they have 2 others in Bellevue and Seattle by Lake Union). While the other two are better for work settings and easier to access, I prefer Leschi for the cozy atmosphere and great view of Lake Washington for social occasions or special family treats. The Daniel's staff works equally well for either type of setting.

Great location and food

By c7999 |

The view from the old converted boathouse is impressive day or night. Although Daniel's is known for steaks, we had salmon and scallops. Both were excellent. Service was good - maybe could have been a litle better. The wine list is high quality and expensive. Overall, a very good, expensive evening.

A disappointing evening

By RB6929 |

Celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary. We had eaten there before, tho several years ago, and had a very pleasant experience and we tipped well. Last night was much less so. Steaks run from $60 to $100 each. That was more than I had anticipated, even having eaten there before. So we ordered off the "appetizer and sides" side of the menu. We had food from very average to flavorful. The caesar salad was just OK. I have had so much better caesar salad at MOD Pizza. The Crab Mack and Cheeze for "two" was very flavorful but petite and could easily have been larger, just for one. Our meat appetizer was also flavorful but also petite. Here is my point. If you are going to charge ridiculous prices for food, at least make it a value. The food should be outstanding or close to it and not in embarrassingly small portions. We received our bill and included was a 20% service charge which replaced tipping that was also taxed at 10% along with the food. That $80 steak you just ordered is really $96, $105.6 with tax. My thot is if you cannot pay your staff a decent wage when steaks average $80 each, there is either a greed issue or mismanagement but no, the 20% service charge, plus tax was for average service or excellent service. Our service was average for any restaurant in town. I expected an excellent meal at a reasonable value. I did not want to pay $650 for four of us for dinner. What we received was an OK and decent meal at a terrible value and value is more important to me than cost in anything I purchase. I truly hope you have a better experience and value than we did. We will not be returning.

Aged steak with a magnificent view

By JoeBaileyCole |

Two of us had a romantic dinner in the early evening at this, the smallest of the Schwarz Brothers restaurants in Seattle. The Leschi is in a former boathouse overlooking a marina on the western side of Lake Washington, with views of the Bellevue skyline, Mercer Island and Mount Rainier. The dining room is dominated by a massive chandelier of 68 candles. As with the other two Daniel's Broiler restaurants, the selection of aged beef dominates the menu. We started with a heritage tomato salad which was disappointing because it was too cold. Tomatoes should never be chilled. We split the 70 oz bone-in ribeye steak (cowboy ribeye) which was cooked to medium-rare perfection, and accompanied by our choice of broccoli. Excellent cocktails and wine list. My guest doesn't like red wine so we had a very fine 2014 Long Road Winery Sauvignon Blanc from Destiny Ridge Vineyard, Horse Heaven Hills, Washington. Note that this is a very popular restaurant with locals and reservations are advised, although we took our chances while on a Monday evening drive. Recommended for couples, business, or special occasions.

Way overpriced for the quality of meal. I'd steer anyone to El Gaucho first. I just paid $180 for our 2 meals that was probably worth $80. My wife and I both agree that was one-and-done for us. Nice service, great view, and a nice birthday cake dessert. But still not going back.

MY ERROR ~~!!

By ch00seyon3 |

Didn't realize when reviewing Daniel's Broiler that there were TWO in Seattle, so this one (which was for the LESCHI Daniel's) is posted under the Seattle Daniel's location in error, my error . . . Daniel's has been a long term haunt with our crowd and has never disappointed. In fact, it is such a reliable choice, that a dear friend recommended it to the Secretary of the Navy and his traveling companions when he was in Seattle on business, and it was a huge hit. Now, that is what I call reliable. The food has been amply mentioned here, and it is indeed good; perhaps the best prime rib in the region. Decent wine lists are fairly well available in top end restaurants, so you're bound to find something palatable. Cocktails, however, are another story . . . often falling short of the mark. No so at Daniel's; from their martinis to something as frivolous as a Pink Lady, you will be well pleased with each sip. Over the many years, each inve$tment at Daniel's has paid dividends in good memories of properly served, succulent meals, rounded out with fine wines and superb drinks.. Seattle Daniel's on Lake Washington is a must, even for those of us who live in Bellevue.

Perfect

By stitcher1951 |

I read through some of the reviews and i felt like some of them were talking about a different restaurant! Lets start with the bread. Good bread should have a crunchy crust and soft inside. No broken teeth at the restaurant. We shared an order of Calamari and a Spinach Pecan salad. The Calamari was lightly breaded and very tender. Another plus for Daniels. The salad had just the right amount of dressing and was very good. My husband ordered the prawns and they were large and he said they were very good with a light garlic taste. I ordered the wagyu beef filet. When it came my server asked me to cut into it to make sure it was cooked correctly. It turns out it was a little rare so she took it back to correct it. Since it was a $100 steak it was proper for it to be handled this way and i appreciated it. It melted in my mouth! The garlic mashed potatoes were light and fluffy We did get a dessert to take home and we haven’t eaten it yet. Since people complained about the service i have to say our service was PERFECT. We were served in a timely fashion and Amy was very friendly. You really cant beat the view Keep up the good work!!❤️❤️

Great views but better service

By seemyeyes |

The view of Lake Washington and the marina is wonderful. The service is standard above par. There is a 20% service fee on all meals. I went there for my annual February 14th day..... The calamari was perfect. The cold seafood platter is very costly for the amount and items you get... I would steer away from that purchase next time. She had the lamb chops that were good.... I had the tomahawk rib eye baked potato... The baked potato was a bit dry and over cooked but with the fresh chopped bacon and sour cream.... it was fine. The rib eye was thick and juicy well prepared large enough to have leftover. With one drink added we were well over $300.00 dollars with the tip added...... I am pretty sure that I will not go once a month.... Maybe once a year?

Birthday Dinner

By Amina R |

The food and cocktails were good the service was even better. Just very disappointed in the gratuity policy. They company retains 100% of the automatic 20% gratuity. I will not return to a company that doesn’t take care of its employees, especially in these times. Also, I don’t think gratuity should be added unless party of 4 or more, it was only 2 of us. We loved our service so in addition to the $70~ added to the check we tipped her cash.

Poor service, way overpriced, but great views!

By Seattle_Brody |

I don't think it is fair to give a review after one try at a restaurant, but the service here was so bad, I take exception. A "top" restaurant like Daniels should have waiters trained to provide regular service to tables at intervals (i.e. check in on the table after their food is delivered to ensure everything is correct or plates should be removed relatively soon after the table finishes eating). Not this night. Bad service was compounded by poor management as well. I would come here for a drink, enjoy the food, but skip the overpriced poor dining experience.

Happy Hour Trumps Dinner

By gigiparis |

Service was great but as others have noted it is extremely expensive. Our food was good but not overly outstanding for the price. I think I've been spoiled as the Happy Hour is so wonderful to sample the appetizers that the value seemed poor for the dinner itself. Staff did include a lovely complimentary dessert for our Anniversary. This has been a romantic destination restaurant for many years but I think I will try a new place for our Anniversary next year. Go for the Happy Hour. The setting on Lake Washington is sublime.

Very good for dinner but pricey!

By Ben_Smith |

My family took me here for my birthday and we had a lovely meal. Everyone had steaks which were very good. They included a complimentary dessert for my birthday. The service was excellent. The only reason I can't rate it the highest level is that it really is very expensive for a fairly basic meal - a steak with mashed potatoes. We had the calimari and artichoke appetizers and they were okay, not great, but good. If we are paying this much for a dinner, I usually prefer to go a restaurant that has a more complex menu but I would come back here for a special occasion.

11years of wonderful service and great food.

By seattletransplants |

We have been going to Daniels-Leshi for 11 plus years because of food and service consistency. We have tried Daniels-Lake Union and Bellevue, but really like the smaller Leshi location. According to my carnivore husband, this is the best restaurant on the planet due to the steaks, 1000 Island dressing, and overall ambience. I love the spinach pecan salad and prime rib (only served on weekends.) The wine list never disappoints. And if you get Stacy as your server, consider yourself blessed, she will deliver you one of the best meals you've ever had.

Didn't match the hype

By StonecreekArabians |

The views are spectacular of Lake Washington and the Leschi. But let's get to everything else. Went about 5-5:30 for dinner. Had never been there before, but were celebrating getting taxes finished. The wait person was very attentive and helpful in explaining the menu and choices after telling her it was our first visit. However, she didn't mention that there were early dinner options (cheaper). Also, didn't mention that all appetizers were half off during this time. Found it on a posted sign. The popcorn shrimp appetizer is out of this world, highly recommend. The steaks are their big deal. I had a Delmonico which for 59 dollars was a waste. The steak had far too much gristle and they say that they sear it on a 1500 degree grill to create a char sear to keep in juices. I don't think the grill was turned up high enough. At those prices, you would have thought that blue cheese might be included for the steak but all toppings are 5 dollars. The blue cheese was however very good. The side of mushrooms was also very good. Wife had a halibut steak and was pleased. It was moist and meaty. So, the food to me was hit and miss and for 146 dollars before tip (i had one beer, wife had water); I expected so much more considering the substantial hype this place gets it didn't live up to it. I would go back though but only for the half price appetizers. Also, just for your info, if you bring your own wine there is a $20 corkage fee.

Gorgeous View

By Deb1028 |

Water views are always hard to beat and this restaurant does not disappoint! We had a window table and the view was beautiful!!! The staff was friendly and helpful. They cleared the table we wanted very quickly. We had the brunch, one and full breakfast and I had the crab and shrimp omelet which was the best one I have ever had. It was extremely fresh and hot, also with a side of hash browns. We were able to sit and enjoy the view without any interruption. Fine dining, yes it is here for n Seattle!!

Special Occasion Restaurant

By Linda L |

We tried Daniel's for the first time going on a beautiful spring evening, first sampling the happy hour which had several items and wines by the glass. It is a gorgeous situated restaurant overlooking the Leschi marina and the expanse of Lake Washington. The place is actually rather small but every seat has a view. We tried their spicy BBQ prawns (New Orleans style) which seemed to be misnamed and described as it actually was more of a slightly sweet curry but the sauce was delicious and the shrimp delicately made. And we ordered the bacon wrapped scallops on crostini which was excellent as well - nicely grilled but not overly so and the scallops were not overdone. We had a Groupon so the high prices weren't overly painful. Plus having happy hour prices for wine and the appetizers was nice too. Then on to the dining room which was just below the lounge. Our server was great - I don't understand what people say about the staff being pretentious as everyone was quite friendly and gracious. We both split a Caesar salad which did come separated on two small plates for each of us and very cold and tasty - I love that they didn't give you huge pieces of romaine and grated Parmesan, not big shavings like other places. Then my husband and I each had the ribeye which was grilled expertly with a bit of char and seasoned quite well. It was huge and we both had the garlic mashed potatoes. Definitely a good-sized portion which we did like as we could have lunches for the next day! Oh and the basket of hard rolls they brought out was out of this world. Hot, a great crust, and served with soft butter - we hate it when places serve rock hard butter. Unfortunately, no room to try out their desserts. This definitely is a special occasion place for us as it's quite expensive but we had a very good experience here.

DO NOT MISS THIS!!!!

By jodylovestotravel |

I can't even express how pleased we were with Daniels Broiler!!! The entire experience was amazing!! We arrived for an 8:30 reservation on 4th of July. The restaurant is very nice, and the food and drinks are amazing!! Our waiter Riley couldn't have been better. He went above and beyond to serve us. We had the filet and lobster, the ribeye, and the tuna strips on the appetizer menu along with 1 of almost every dessert :). Everything, and I mean everything was superb!! I can't wait to get back to Seattle to visit again!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Pricey, nice date night!!!

Hot Night, Very Slow Dinner

By Intlxpatr |

We got there early, had a great server, but dinner dragged on and on. It's SeaFair, the Blue Angels are in town, the weather is in the 90's (restaurant air conditioning struggles with the challenge) and we think some of the kitchen staff may have taken the day off, it's that slow. The happiest at our table ordered several of the appetizers. The fried artichoke hearts and the scallops were really, really good. The steaks looked good. One person had the grains and greens, and loved it. Other dishes were just OK, not bad, but blah. Great view out over Leschi marina and Lake Washington.

New Years Eve

By anne m |

We have made a NYE tradition to come to Daniel's Broiler in Leschi for the past 10 years. We were never disappointed until this year. First, let me say that the service is outstanding. Everyone was kind, smile on their face and quite helpful. Our disappointment is in the food and where we sat. For the food, we had the spicy shrimp for appetizers. The shrimp was bland. The sauce and the shrimp just didn't go well together. My French Onion soup was salty and my husbands salad tasted old - like it had been sitting out for awhile. Our steaks were good. We would have dessert but where we sat was very close to our neighbors. We were cramped in and I just wanted to leave as soon as we got there. Our table was small and very little could be placed on the table. The worse part was when a waiter/waitress would place something on the table next to us - they were right there. It just wan't private at all. And It was not relaxing. For us, this is an expensive restaurant. We considered this a five star restaurant until last night. We look forward to going here once a year and we put money aside for this special occasion. So, it was disappointing. My husband (who is laid back and doesn't get concerned about things) said to me that he wants to find another place next year.

Great Location, Excellent Service: Food Hits & Misses

By wdh528 |

It's a four or five star restaurant at times. I gave it three because i felt underwhelmed. The service was excellent--five stars. The location is great, we had a table at the window, right on the water. We had calamari to start. It was good, but I've had comparable quality for less $$ at far less classy establishments. Next on to a Ceasar salad. Very tasty, but very, very cold. Is it supposed to taste like it was already made, sitting in a chiller? On to the reason for going to Daniel's--the steak! I had the Delmonico. What a beautiful, large, cut of meat. Immediately after delivery, the waitress shines her flashlight at your steak and asks you to cut into it to ascertain that is has been cooked to your specifications. Mine was exquisitely cooked--inside. My only complaint is that the outside had been over seared. I like a nice crust, even a little blackening. This had a little charcol-esque quality. It had sat too long. The baked potato was awesome. They bring you whipped butter, sour cream, chives and bacon and dress your spud tableside. I loved it. I don't know what to say about three stars. I will go back, but felt that that is all they delivered on that particular night.

Very fresh seafood, very good steaks, friendly personnel, good environment. All good there, will be one of my favorites here in Seattle.

Bad service, bad food

By Megan P |

We invited my nephew & his wife for a nice steak dinner. We were embarrassed at the disappointing experience. Our reservation was early in the evening and the restaurant was virtually empty. So why did they seat us in the back away from the view? We asked to be moved. The lobster bisque arrived cold. Back to the kitchen to be warmed up. The few chunks of lobster in the bisque were tough. The steaks were ok, not extraordinary. This is a very expensive restaurant! What a lousy experience from beginning to end.

Celebration

By Marguerite G |

From the moment you step into this restaurant you are transported to a picturesque scene of Lake Washington, the Cascade Mountain range, Mt. Rainier, an assortment of boats floating on the water just outside the window! Inside is a lovely appointed restaurant with a very attentive wait staff, a delectable menu from appetizers, main courses to desserts! It’s an experience you don’t want to miss or actually come to an end....

Great location, good steak, average service and mandatory 20+% fee

By Ben_Smith |

Went here for dinner and we didn't feel that it lived up to the quality we expected. To go in and have an entrée, share an appetizer and have one drink, you will leave with a $125 tab per person so it's expensive. The steaks we ordered were very good. However, they now only give you a can of coke (or diet coke). They also have an upcharge of $4-$6 if you want to change out potatoes to another veggie with your steak. Although we weren't clear on that part since our waiter was not clear on it. The service was average. Everyone's potatoes were lumpy and not very good. The views are amazing which is why people come here. We like the ambiance also. I've heard that the happy hour is good. They do give a free small dessert for your birthday. This is an over-priced steak house which also has some fish entrees. The food can be very good but they aren't consistent. The price is high and you have to pay a mandatory 20% fee on top of food and tax which means it's more like 22% whether the service is good or not. We have gone here for special occasions in the past, we are officially dropping it off our list. Just too much for what one gets.

food and service very good, not at all rushed. all safety precautions observed. food very good and well prepared. beverage service a little slow when we arrived. only bad part is theor billiing syste, they add a servcie charge which does not go to the server. then the bill is noted to suggest you give optional tip to server. several other restaurants have tried this scheme and it has not lasted for them. don't think it will here either. i certainly will not go there as long as this system is in place.

A great time was had by all...

By Andy C |

My daughter (7 y.o.) wanted steak for her birthday, so I took the whole crew to Daniel's Leschi: two sets of grandparents, my wife and I, and the two girls (the younger one is 2). We had a blast. Yes, the dinner took a while, but we expected that for a party of eight. The server and the service was great, the steaks were delicious (and cooked just right), and everyone had a great time. The only bummer was that we couldn't enjoy the lake view (due to the early winter sunset). Will have no hesitation to return time and time again.

Outstanding service and food!

A recent visit here proved to be outstanding -- the service was impeccable and all our meals were very good. Kudos to Daniel's -- keep it up!

Fabulous for celebrating a very special occasion

By simivalley1699 |

We had a wonderful dinner there. This is the original Daniel's and very cozy - not as formal as the one in Bellevue. The outside dining looked very inviting, but we opted to be seated inside and loved our table by the window. Our prime rib was one of the best we ever had - the asparagus absolutely divine with the special sauce. Excellent, attentive service; the view over the marina and toward Bellevue and the bridge were beautiful. Our server surprised us with a special dessert to celebrate our anniversary.

Good Food

By Angie S |

We celebrated my birthday by going out for dinner at this restaurant. I was turned off immediately when our waitress addressed my husband by name and asked him how his evening was going, giving him her full attention and totally ignoring my presence, not even acknowledging that I was there - - after all, this was MY birthday celebration! I thought their salad menu items were very limited, so we each had a caesar salad to start, then we each had the Maine lobster tail - mine with a baked potato, my husband's with the garlic mashed potato. We enjoyed our food - but my favorite part of it was the complementary dessert that I was given because it was my birthday. It was a warm double chocolate pudding cake with vanilla ice cream and berries on the side - enough for two. We had no liquor and the bill was $153.00 before tip. The service seemed very slow considering there were a lot of empty tables when we were there. The best part of the restaurant is the scenic view of the marina and lake. This Daniel's Broiler seemed more casual than the other ones in the area. We have decided that we prefer the Lake Union or the Bellevue locations to this one, so we will not likely be visiting this one again. Since it is very pricey, we would only visit for special celebrations. By purchasing a gift certificate at Costco you can get a discount on the meal (spend $40 and get a $50 gift certificate).

Just ok.....

By pete98146 |

It had been years since we visiting any of the Daniels locations so our 11th year anniversary came and I decided to take my wife out for nice meal. We opted on Daniels Leschi. The location is very nice overlooking Lake Washington. We got seated right away and our waiter Zed did a great job of making us feel welcome. So no complaints about the location or the service. What was really lacking was the quality of the caesar salad, mashed potatoes and grilled mushrooms. For this caliber of restaurant, I expect to be wowed on all levels. The side dishes were bland, unappealing and lackluster. Thank goodness the ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce was amazing as was my wife's lobster tail. No complaints for the main courses at all. In summary, when the bill tops $200 I am looking for excellence across the board. Daniel's didn't quite deliver and that's a bit disappointing.

Great all around

Confused about the low ratings - we were apprehensive after reading them, but our experience was great. Food was excellent and we were full - took home leftovers! We had the caprese salad/appetizer, shared, had the rib steak and the scampi. Everything was delicious and plentiful. Our waitress Melissa was terrific. Total cost with the service charge was $143 (one glass of wine). View spectacular. Will go again.

Highest Prices / Average Experience

By David P |

After a week of great dining in Seattle, we went to Daniel’s with high expectations given the prices. Bottom line is it is just average steakhouse food at a ridiculous price. At 80 bucks for a filet, it better be exceptional. It wasn’t. We sent back a steak that was clearly over cooked, and the replacement steak did not arrive until everyone else was through eating. Of the halibut we ate at other places, this was at the bottom of the list. The place has some local worshipers, but you can do much better dining elsewhere. On a Friday night the place was quiet, no one at the bar. When walking out I did not see a single management level employee and no one at the reception area. You can certainly do better for great food in Seattle.

Simply perfect

By Kyle B |

I don't eat red meat, but this steakhouse is in my opinion the best dining experience in Seattle. Everything is exceptional, but I frequently crave the salad with warm bacon and egg. The chicken is amazing, and how many places can you say that about? The coconut fudge sundae: perfection.

Pre-Mother’s day meal.

By DJSPOON |

In trying a new spot for Mother’s Day this places had its pro’s, and con’s. Hostess and our server (Wayne) was great. I’ve been to a lot of steak places and Filet mignon steak was more like flat pressed steak. Was the steak favorable? Yes. Lobster 🦞? Salty. Garlic mash? Fluffy need to remove the cheese topping. 20% service charge tacked on the bill? Well not to say my server didn’t deserve it, but tips need to be reserved at 15%. If customers want to give 20% that’s the choice the customers should make. Our party was only two people so. Thank you allowing to voice my opinion. DJSPOON (San Francisco)

Atmospher, Atmospher Atmospher! Daniel's Broiler - Leschi is an excellent resturant. Steak was amazing, seafood (Shrimp and Crab) tasted fresh (Yum) and the view of Lake Washington and the City of Bellevue across the lake was exquiste. You can always tell a good resturant with quality food if the sides are good and they were delicious. Host and waite staff was personable and very nice. Had a beautiful dinner with my fiance'. Two thumbs up!

Great!!

It was just a good as the other Seattle site.I had the sirloin and it was perfect.Every thing about this place is great.

Food is good, atmosphere is nice.

We went here for our anniversary dinner. It was nice but I think the Lake Union location is better. The service was good but not outstanding. We did have to send a salad back that was bitter and under dressed but when they brought it back it was delicious. My husband’s filet tasted amazing and he didn’t have a problem eating the full 12 oz. The waitress did a nice job recommending a cocktail and wine and we were brought a fantastic chocolate lava cake on the house to celebrate our anniversary.

Classic Steakhouse and a Seattle Tradition

By Jon C |

It's our neighborhood Steakhouse, and have had dinner there many times, never disappoints. What should be be well known is it's excellent happy hour, which serves small plates and drinks at the comfy bar. It's a great way to sample the fare, at real fair prices. Craft brews, cocktails make it's a no brainer in my opinion.

skip brunch

By ArdenJ |

I'll start with the good...the view is beautiful & service was friendly (although I don't need my water glass refilled after each sip!) The bad...the veggie scramble was so blah. The resaturant wasn't busy, but it tasted like my eggs were either pre made or left under a heat lamp for 15 min. The coffee cake starter tasted like something from a mix or a Safeway bakery. The whole plate was completely uninspired. A few smashed potatoes, dry eggs with a few cut up vegies mixed in, and 3 small pieces of melon.

Christmas

The restaurant opened early for Christmas Eve. We arrived to a full venue at 4:15. As usual, the food, service and ambiance was terrific. Beautiful view east to a full moon.

Terrific vieuw

With an unspoiled vieuw of Mount Rainier over lake Washington that is the place to be good service nice food and a beautifull setting absolutely great

Automatic 20% "Service Charge" is also taxed!

By R K L |

We had not returned to Daniel's Leschi since they instituted the policy of automatically adding an additional 20% to the cost of the dining experience effective the first week in April. Although we wanted to analyze the impact on our bill for ourselves, we unfortunately have lost two couples with whom we regularly dined there, as both will now never return, and had been exploring other venues. So after a month, we decided to return on our own. As advertised, the service charge of 20% appeared on the bill but so did the extra tax on that 20%! Luckily, we opted to change our entire routine for this visit. Instead of appetizers with some nice wine, maybe a salad to start and then an entree (which was always too much to completely finish), we had decided to not incur a larger than necessary 20% just for the privilege of taking some food home. Instead of at least several glasses of wine with the meal, I decided to enjoy Seattle's great water which is a healthier option anyway and enjoy good wine at home. We had salads and an appetizer which was substantially filling and had nothing leftover. The food continues to be very good, the service still friendly and professional. Since we historically have always left at least a 20% gratuity, this new policy (except for the extra tax) might actually save us money. Reducing and/or eliminating alcohol, changing/reducing what we order and eliminating dessert are some positives of their new policy...unexpected value! Unfortunately, although we definitely intend to dial back our patronage, we will still need to find people willing to join us when we do choose to return. For many of us, it is simply the principle of being told what we will pay for service. Luckily, the Greater Seattle area has a multitude of excellent restaurants where customers still have choices. It is too bad, because Daniel's Leschi is still wonderful but the new policy is terrible.

Still OK but now exhorbitant...

By R K L |

Our wedding anniversary is an important occasion and giving this restaurant (where we celebrated post-wedding and which used to be one of our favorite haunts) another go made sentimental sense. Although our meal consisting of the scallop appetizer, Caesar Salad, Kurbota Pork Rib Chop, Grilled Ahi Tuna and chardonnay was quite good, the service had reached sub-par levels. Notwithstanding the automatic service charge, their exhorbitant menu prices caused our dinner for two to cost over $345. Our receipt magnanimously advised that "Additional gratuity is not expected and purely optional." We gladly followed their advice. They had already included a 20% Service Charge amounting to over $52.00, which was more than too much for the evening's experience and service.

20% service charge

By Jacob1993 |

Daniel's Broiler is definitely innovate place to go. At least financially. New action is 20% service fee applied to your bill. Question to server "Why and what is it about?" was replied as it's because of combination of of multiple expenses, especially because of new minimal wage of $15 in Seattle area. It immediately reminded me about facility fee in hospitals and some medical facilities. Food for happy hour is good

Thanksgiving Dinner

By Clay G |

As a new family tradition (mostly to spare my mom from cooking), we do Thanksgiving at away locations. We had the pleasure of visiting Daniel’s Broiler for our Thanksgiving dinner. The service was immaculate and we were very well taken care of. My water glass was never empty and our food came right when it needed to. The food itself was delicious as well. Pair that with a beautiful nighttime view of the bay(?) and it made for a great Thanksgiving dinner experience.

Lovely mountain-lake outdoor dining

By 19AMP |

The filet mignon was the most delicious we've ever tasted. Caprese salad was extra special with a lemon olive oil. The complimentary choc soufflé we were served to celebrate our occasion was devine. Service was delightful. And the view was heavenly! The less than stellar parts were the key lime pie (not tangy enough), creme brulee (cold) and "crispy calamari" (not crispy).

Great food

By MargieP |

We went to Daniel’s for a family birthday and it was awesome. Instead of having an entree, we all had bunch of appetizers. We had the Oysters Rockefeller (yum). French Onion Soup, scallops wrapped in bacon, the bleu tenderloin appetizer and the Dungeness crab bisque, bay shrimp and bleu cheese salad and the spinach salad. All were excellent! I had bites of everything and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Service was impeccable. Great ambiance. It is pricey but definitely worth it. You are right on the lake do it is really a place to go to for a special treat.

Used to love Daniels, but probably won't return

By 4snickers |

Everyone has an off night, but really not happy with the salty potatoes, and the terrible creamed spinach. The attitude I rec'd when I called to asked a question was terrible as well as she didn't let me ask, just kept saying we are booked until 10 pm, I wasn't even asking about that! Please listen! It was a birthday celebration and even though they knew, nothing was said, by servers or staff? Let alone the offer of a scoop of ice cream or ? Very disappointing, too many other choices in Seattle, such as El Gaucho, Morton's etc..

An excellent option for brunch in a scenic setting

By MarkRanchoMirage |

I finally had the opportunity to have brunch at Daniel's when some friends were visiting this past weekend. While I have been here for dinner many times, I hadn't had a chance to check out the brunch so thought this was a perfect excuse. Daniel's offers a full and plentiful menu for brunch ranging from a creative French toast and Eggs Benedict to a bar menu that has burgers, fish and chips, and other seafood options. The daily special when I was there was a blackened chicken Caesar Salad which was exceptional. Really, does Daniel's do anything that is not exceptional--if so I have yet to find it. Our waiter Avi was terrific-- attentive, flexible, and very upbeat . . . you get the sense nothing is an issue with Avi and he will make it happen. Great experience and not sure why I didn't try Daniel's for brunch sooner.

Great Brunch!

By LX97 |

The views alone are worth the visit. The brunch was delicious too! The prices are also reasonable. I will go back there on my next visit.

Unprofessional Staff and Terrible Service

By Niwar N |

I write this review to express my disappointment with the restaurant and specifically, Manager Stephanie. My wife and I had placed a dinner reservation for our 3rd year wedding anniversary, and looked forward for a while to dining here. We were sat in our table, and soon after, were greeted by our waiter whom either seemed disinterested in serving us, or was having a bad night. This was evident by his lack of friendly facial expressions, or simply asking "how is your evening?" Couple minutes pass, he stops by to give us our bread, but places it on the very end of our 8-seater round booth, in which we physically had to get up and get it. No big deal, right? I drank my water, and waited several minutes before I had to flag him down for a refill. This happened on two other occasions. I would think that if I am going to a so-called high-end steakhouse, the service would be topnotch, and the things I am describing would be an absolute no-no. The only pleasant experience so far was the food, which was good and met my expectations as to what a $80 steak would taste like. After dinner, my wife orders a desert. A few minutes after ordering, the waiter reaches over my shoulder from the area slightly above us to place the utensils on our table, which then I had to place on my wife's side. I thought this was very unprofessional, and rude. The next part is really the reason why I am writing this review. I normally let stuff like this go, as I rarely care to take the time to complain or write bad reviews. Our waiter brings our bill, which of course includes their 20% "service charge." I am normally on average a really good tipper, as I usually tip anywhere on average 20-30% for overall good service. Even though I thought we got pretty crappy service, I still paid the full $260.xx which our tab was. I decided to pay the amount in cash, and we decided to leave the restaurant. For me, the food was good and ultimately that's really what I cared about the most. After walking to our car and starting it up, my wife gasps and says "oh my God, look!" I looked over to my left, and there was our waiter huffing and puffing having pretty much raced to our vehicle. I slowly roll down my windows and ask "can I help you?" He opens his black leather wallet with our receipt tab on it, and looks at me in a coyishly way and says "did you forget to pay your tab?" Stunned, I said "No, I actually paid in full cash, and even gave a bit more than the tab was since I didn't even want to wait for change." He looked looked down on his tab and paused, as if we were lying and said "stay right here and I will go check." My wife looks over at me, and says this is not right, this is complete BS. I was honestly so caught off guard, and felt so embarrassed for doing absolutely nothing wrong. I decided to walk back into the restaurant to find out what happened to our money that I had placed in with my tab, and also to find out why he felt the need to run after us. I never like to play the race card, but it's hard to not wonder if it was because we have distinct non-caucasian features? Our server was an older white male, this is the only reason why I would bring this up after such an awful ending to our evening. The server walks back to the entrance, and was surprised to see me back. This is when he starts to profusely apologize and tells me that there was a miscommunication with another server grabbing our money, blah blah blah. As I am with most situations, I said "ok no problem" and walked out. When I got back into the car, my wife was shaken and so very upset about what had just occurred. She wanted me to call and make the complaint to the manager, which I did. I called shortly before they closed, and spoke with a lady by the name of Stephanie. I explained our entire experience. I explained to her how appalled we were by the way the server handled himself, and how rude that was. Stephanie assured me that she would speak to the server, and get back to us right away. It has now been a week and no call. We won't come back. Shame on you!

Beautiful but disappointing

By sandrahA2780CK |

The restaurant and view are beautiful - quiet, romantic, lovely. My food was not delicious. I had the scampi, rice, broccoli which was very bland. For the cost of the meal, I expected much more. My partner's salmon was very good he said but the beet salad was very small. I would go again and have a glass of wine and an appetizer but probably would not go for dinner again.

Great view, excellent food

By R K L |

A restaurant for special occasions, as well as for normal dining, Daniel's at Leschi has always been a fun experience for us over the years. Their food is consistently excellent, the view of Lake Washington and the Eastside is wonderful, and the staff is always attentive and friendly. It's known primarily as a steakhouse, but the seafood is also very good. A table by the window, or one of the slightly elevated booths, is a plus. Although still excellent food, their "happy hour" appetizers are now overpriced...used to be half price and now just discounted. Same applies to their wines. We now find it makes more sense to just go for regular dining. It's pricey either way.

Tasty food and lakefront view

By Mark N |

Had dinner at Daniel’s Broiler at Leschi on Lake Washington. Ice table with lake view. Unfortunately, it was hazy due to smoke from wildfires in Canada that travelled south to the Seattle area. The food was excellent. Pecan spinach salad, French onion soup, bone in ribeye (Tomahawk cut) and Daniel’s chocolate sundae for dessert. Service was attentive and very accommodating.

Fantastic meal with excellent service

By Paul Sommer |

A friend gave us some gift cards that we used toward our dinner for four. Yes, Daniels is very expensive and not somewhere we would eat often, very high in calories. But... our experience was outstanding. The ambiance was open and spacious with nice views of Lake Washington. Our waiter, Franklin, did an excellent job taking care of us before, during and at the end or our meal. We had the artichokes and calamari appetizers, a spinach and pecan salad, a filet, Rib eyes and salmon, creamed corn and asparagus, baked and garlic mashed potatoes and the chocolate cookie for dessert. All four of us are critical diners and good cooks so we do appreciate good food. Everything we had was actually fantastic with one of the best steaks we have ever had, fantastic corn side dish and great dessert. Our experience was a memorable one.

Surprised by automatic 20% service charge!

By deda710 |

I took my son to Daniels on Lake Union for his birthday in March. I was shocked to see the 20% service charge on my bill. Had I not noticed it and asked the waiter, I likely would have tipped on top of that. The service was OK but not great, and not worth a 20% automatic tip. And the steak was just OK, not great. I will NEVER go to Daniels or other related restaurants again, unless they do away with this automatic fee!

An Overpriced, Overdone Disaster...

By sir_keith_26 |

We were celebrating a special occasion in Mount Baker, and didn’t feel like driving downtown, so we decided to try Daniel’s Broiler in Leschi. I’d been to Daniels’ Broiler in South Lake Union previously, and it was pleasant enough, although expensive, so we were expecting more of the same, but it was not to be. The décor at Daniel’s Broiler Leschi is dated, and it is dominated by a tacky chandelier the size of a small moving van. The whole place has a tired and unappealing patina, and one shudders to think what it must look like in full daylight. But that’s hardly an issue in the evening, because the place is so dimly lit that it is almost impossible to read the menu, let alone see your surroundings. Just as well. Once you adjust to the cave-like ambiance, you will immediately notice two things about the menu. First, the cuts are ridiculously large. A 24-ounce Porterhouse? A 20-ounce Delmonico? A 17 ounce pork chop? It’s the kind of thing you might expect to encounter in Oklahoma, perhaps, but not in Seattle. The second shock will be the prices- $59 for the filet mignon, $63 for the Porterhouse, $62 for the Delmonico. And the sides are extra- $10 for asparagus, $9 for creamed spinach, $8 for fries. So before you even contemplate the wine list, which is extensive but expensive (surprise!), your tab can easily be approaching $150 per couple. Perhaps it will be worth it? Not even close. I ordered the prime rib- always dependable in a steak house, no?- which they offered only one way- ‘medium rare.’ This should have raised a big red flag, but I figured that this was close enough to my normal preference, which is medium rare, more rare than medium. Our orders came almost immediately- always a bad sign- and we had to pester our waiter for our wine, which finally arrived 10 minutes later. But the most shocking thing of all was that although my prime rib was certainly as large as advertised (12 ounces, the ‘small’ cut), it was decidedly not ‘medium rare.’ Only optimistically would one describe this cut as ‘medium well;’ more appropriately it would have been called ‘well done.’ Not only was the prime rib overcooked, it was also tough, chewy, and tasteless. If ever I encountered a meal that should have been sent back to the kitchen, this was it, but as I mentioned at the outset, this was a special occasion, and the last thing I wanted to do was to fuss with returning an order- just not worth it. So we finished our wine, left our plates largely untouched, paid the $180 tab for two, and departed. We didn’t let Daniel’s Broiler spoil our special occasion, which is the only good thing I can say about our visit. In 25 years of dining in Seattle, I have never encountered a restaurant that was so comprehensively disappointing as Daniel’s Broiler in Leschi. The place is an unmitigated disaster; avoid it at all costs.

Daniel's is slipping

By mapa |

i had a bowl of lobster bisque and wanted to ask if they had a little 'Olde Bay' i could put in it as it was pretty much void of flavor. My husband got the Ceasar's salad and it was the same thing, really bland. For the price they charge they should be able to get a better chef!

great view, great happy hour, great service!

By Faye S |

Great view and great happy hour! The customer service was great starting with the greeter! The 1/2 price appetizers/menu items are a great deal with the burger and the chicken sandwich being my favorite! Beware though, the location at South Lake Union doesn't have the chicken sandwich for happy hour which is disappointing given they are the same restaurant. The location is not the most convenient since we don't have a car but it's worth the Uber/Lyft or bus as a nice happy hour treat from time to time! The view alone will take your breath away! The vibe is very pleasant, as well! The bathroom is very clean which is a plus. Only issue is that the first time we went here, our bill didn't reflect our 1/2 price happy hour burgers so we had to speak with the manager when she came by. She was very pleasant and corrected it but I think it would have been a good gesture for her to at least offer us a free drink or dessert since it clearly was their error and we would have paid the full price bill had we not noticed it on our own. A kind gesture goes a long way to establishing loyal customers. The drinks are not a very good deal even for happy hour, though. We certainly will return and enjoy the view and the happy hour food items!

Stunnishing views

We visited with friends a rainy day between Xmas and New Year. Service was perfect, staff very friendly and the Seaview/location nice. My crabcake was great my wife's Shrimp Sallad ok. We might comeback during our next stay in our daughter's house in Seattle. However, not related to only this place but to all restaurants in Seattle: Why don"t you serve salmon cotlet/steak.... salmon cut perpendicular to the body?

Very disappointing

By 8069sa |

This has been a go-to restaurant for many years with great food and great service. But it's slipped and now it's a disorganized mess with confusion among servers and cooks who aren't getting the order right. I'd be very careful before paying >$50/dinner again any time soon. As soon as you arrive, ask the hostess who your server is and will they introduce you? That will save you some grief!

A belated birthday dinner...

By Kerry M |

Here's what it was: good caesar salad; very good salmon; excellent garlic mashed potatoes (for me) after a few days on Whidbey Island, after a perfect sunny day, just after sunset. Here's what it wasn't: loud, stuffy, over-priced. Here's more of what it was: a chance to taste the famed coconut chocolate sundae of my partner's youth. Really, brilliant.

View and location were key features for us

By carrieul |

The view in late afternoon/evening of Lake Wash. and Mt Rainier are awesome so get a window seat. Parking can be a challenge on a nice day so you may need to valet. Food options are good and typical steak/seafood choices. Discount gift certificates are available at Costco ($80 for $100 gift certificates) so if you can plan ahead, buy those before you go.

If you want a great view with great staff & Poor food"

By breffnicom |

and a dirty restaurant, sticky tables crumbs on the chair seats and floor and a really filthy carpet. If you love the smell of stale beer and a rotten smelling bathroom then this is the place for you and all your friends. $14,75 for a small Ahi Poki at what should be a happy hour price time. 3.40pm on a Tuesday. Good staff, and beautiful view in a restaurant badly needing a makeover for the room, the kitchen and the prices. Food ordinary to say the best I can say.

Great venue

By Eric D |

We opted to come to the Leschi Daniel’s Broiler as the other locations were booked at the time we wished to eat. This location is wonderful as it is right on Lake Washington and a more intimate setting. Our son’s steak was perfectly prepared. My wife and I have since gone vegan and Daniel’s Broiler has an extensive vegan menu, so this restaurant is a great place for all to get what they want. Unfortunately, the Leschi location has an abbreviated version of the plant based menu, so our choices were more limited. Thus the 4 vs 5 star rating. Still, this location was wonderful and we had a lovely meal here.

Disappointing service from iconic restaurant

By Expedition99762 |

With family to celebrate the 17 year anniversary of sister and brother in law who marked this occassion by flying to Seattle. The service was sub par and our service was less than attentive. We had to ask for water glasses to be filled, lack of followup with bread being brought to the table after one hour of being seated. Dirty appetizer dishes were not collected prior to main entree, so we were handing dirty dishes to the busser at the same time the server was putting down our food plates. We expected better for that evening given the amount of money we spent for a party of eight. A automatic gratuity of 20% still deserves top notch service from server. That was our last visit to Daniel's.

Peculiar lobster salad, overdone steak

By Renee002 |

Do not order the lobster tail club salad. The chef uses cole slaw with raisins, currants and pecans and elements of Cobb salad like hardboiled egg, bacon and avocado with lobster tail. It comes with a lemon slice. The steak came medium, not medium rare. There was some up-selling in that wine by the glass menu was touted but there was actually a house wine too. The view was great, the service was good, the bread was good...I would not order the salad again though and advise you not too either unless you like lobster and raisins. The salad dressing seems to have a little chile in it. Not my favorite. Maybe poppy seeds too?

The Little Brother

By armanistyle187 |

My least favorite of the Daniel's locations. I've been dining at their other outposts for years (check the reviews if you like; shameless plug) and have always had a good experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't the same here. Came in for restaurant week as their menu looked really promising. Long story short, ordered the salmon, it came out frigidly cold and needed to be sent back and refired. My dining companion had their pork entree come out undercooked and it needed to be touched up. The brought the fixed entrees and they were tasty, then moved on to dessert. Both had the creme brulee and it had almost congealed under the sugar layer, neither of us could eat it. They offered to replace them as well, but it was near the end of the night and we just wanted to get out of there. Ended up spending over $100, which isn't a lot, but it was money not well spent in this case. The manager came over and apologized for the experience, explained that Daniel's holds itself to high standards (which I know from my hundreds of other visits to their other locations) and was very sincere in his message. I won't discourage people from visiting Daniel's Broiler, I just expected more from this experience.
