Darling Spot

By PhillyShaney |

I checked out Darling Jack’s on a recommendation from a friend! We met up during Happy Hour and upon entering you could feel the vibe! I knew this place would deliver and I ordered the pizza from the Happy Hour Menu! We got the wine & beer as well of the Happy Hour Menu.. Tip: must sit @ bar to enjoy Gapot Hour prices! The food was Soooooo Delicious! The pizza was thin & crispy crust …and we decided on the Calamari as well! The bartender was helpful and offered suggestions! Overall, I would return to check out more menu items!

Classic American fare done well

Darling Jack's tavern is everything you would expect a classic American tavern to be, wood panelling, comfortable booths, with a marble bar counter top with great food & service at quite reasonable prices. The menu has plenty of choice so opted to share 3 starters for dinner as not overly hungry and it was not a problem. Each dish came out once it was prepared you you could dig in straight away. Everything was really good, the beets with whipped feta was excellent and tasted better than I expected, the toasted sourdough was a perfect partner to the feta and beets. The steak tartare came with potato chips which were perfect for scooping up the meat. The kitchen split the Tavern wedge over 2 plates as we were sharing which was a nice touch. The burger on a neighboring table looked very good as did the tavern pizza which people were having at the bar counter. The restaurant had a good vibe to it and the lighting was spot on, not too bright. Service was excellent, warm and friendly yet professional and hospitable. Total including $50 for a bottle of red wine came to $96 before tax and tip. A great choice for a light bite or something more especially during happy hour when an Aperol Spritz is $8 - cheers !

Slip in for great dinner

Super spot for drinks and dinner. Restaurant is only three months old but definitely attracting deserved attention. We enjoyed hanger steak with super accompaniments. Decor is simple and attractive, great bar, attentive staff and delish good at reasonable prices.

Great Tavern-style Pizza!

Stopped in for lunch one day while visiting City Center. The beer was cold and the wine was great! We had heard of tavern-style pizza but never tried it before. We ordered the Clam + Ham pizza with guanciale, marinated clams, mozz, and provalone with a garlic cream sauce. Our taste buds are still thanking us! Excellent lunch experience.

Wonderful

This place saved us on this 4th of July when the city decided to closed almost everyplace and leave tourists starving. It was almost 4pm and a bigger part of our plans went down: the city was closed in almost every tourist attraction and a lot of restaurants including Reading Terminal decided the same. After walking half city, we found this place and couldn’t be happier. Wonderful service, food and environment. The food came super tasty, right temperature, delicious! I love that they have some outdoor tables, a high chair for kids, and happy hour even on holidays. I ordered the trout and my husband the steak with Fries. We also loved the whipped feta appetizer!

If you are in the city, do yourself a favor and eat at Darling Jack's Tavern. I went to brunch with friends, and everything was fantastic. I will absolutely be back.

Very nice dining experience!!

This eatery has a very cool vibe, the booths for two are also uber comfy. Our waiter was very personable and efficient. He was very accommodating to our first time experience here. Not a huge menu but lots of variety. The French onion soup is a masterpiece and a must order. Be warned though it is a lot! We also tried the mozzarella sticks (I know, seems like a lame choice- but we were actually pleasantly surprised at this version, very good). On to the entrees: fish and chips (great Cole slaw, super fish portion and solid fries) and the veal saltimbocca (different slant here but excellent veal and overall taste). The special dessert was a budino pop, this was really awesome and a huge hit…. Great meal, highly recommend!!

Not here either.

The menu and Ranking promise more. But the poor service ruins your score. Long time for ordering and food. It just doesn't work when there are other restaurants 10meters away which is much better. Not recommended
