Clean and fresh environment with friendly staff. There alot of options on the breakfast menu. The omeletts are great but its also not cheap altough we didn’t have to eat any lunch since the portions are big! I’d recommend this place if you are looking for a steady breakfast.

Fast service and food that was good. Went back a 2 times on our trip. Kids loved the chocolate chip pancakes. Scrambles were great.

Walk pass this daily and is always busy. Surprised by the amount of breakfast choices. But best surprise was the soup noodles and fried rice. They were just great. Will be back tomorrow as we have had too many pancakes lately

Nice waitstaff. There was a surpirsibgly large range of dishes to choose from. Food was quick and tasty. Will be going back!

We spent a week in San Francisco staying in a hotel near pier 39. We tried a couple of other places but food was not good and very expensive. Darren’s was by far the best. Food piping hot good coffee and friendly staff. We ended up eating in Darren’s every morning. Recommend this place 100%

Really good solid reliable breakfast. Traditional diner breakfast choices. Good coffee and the food was filling. We went Sunday AM at 9, and there was no wait. Really nice staff; family run. Good customer service. Coffee refills were frequent. We shared the veggie omelette- plenty of food for 2 middle aged travelers. Forgot to take pics- but our food and the ambience matched other people’s.

Excellent food, wonderful service. Everything is delicious, and the French toast was memorable. Our eleven year old says “5 stars!!!!” and insisted we write a review!

The eggs were really light, fluffy and especially tasty. The Italian Sausage was grilled and good too. My daughter had a big fluffy pancake. I wasn't expecting much cause there was no one in the place when we got there. But I was pleasantly surprised. Service was quick and attentive. I'm glad I stopped.

We found this on our first morning in fisherman’s wharf and cam back 3 times. Lots of choose and all good value

We stopped for breakfast and sat outside. The staff were helpful, friendly and service was quick. Resrooms are through the kitchen and not the cleanest! Food was very nice but we felt it was very overpriced. We had 1 scrambled egg on toast, 1 orange juice, 1 sausage bap and 2 teas, this was $33 dollars - £27 a tad over priced.

Cafe offers American and Vietnamese cuisine. Both equally good. Service was fast and attentive. Prices not too high.

You're at the Wharf, it's Sunday morning at 11 and not an easy time to find an open table anywhere (especially during Fleet Week) but I stumbled on to this place and was immediately helped by a waiter to an empty table. Yes, there is Pho and other Vietnamese specialties but I challenge anybody to treat an egg better than these guys. My "over medium" eggs were perfect as were the cottage potatoes. Excellent service, even in the mist of jammed restaurant and street seating. The waiter even offered to put me at a better table after it cleared. I also like that the kitchen is part of the dining room which adds to the energy. I'll go back.

We ordered a breakfast item, a lunch item and Pho - all on the same ticket for our meal. Everything was hot, fresh, delicious and served with a smile. Absolutely impressed with this hidden gem.

Had breakfast here this morning. 2 of us had standard bacon and eggs and 1 had pho and another a Vietnamese sandwich. All meals were served promptly, prices were very reasonable and the service was great.

We went there because of the Tripadvisor reviews and Darren's exceeded even those expectations! The food was great - French toast, eggs over easy, corned beef hash! But to see the two servers CONSTANTLY walking among the full house of diners, checking to see if everything was good and refilling coffee was AMAZING! That level of service you expect to see in very expensive, very heavily staffed restaurants, so to enjoy that service in a diner was exceptional!

Very generous breakfast serving size and the staff were very accommodating for my youngest child who is a fussy eater. Friendly atmosphere and quick service.

Sat outside and had a delicious pho seafood dish. There is regular american stlye meals. Nice waitress

Super fast, friendly service. Delicious, well priced breakfast and surprisingly no queue even at 9am. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast around fisherman’s wharf.

Visited whilst working in SF and the food here was superb. Excellent choice of international dishes cooked to perfection. Friendly, helpful staff on hand to help if you need advice. Don't miss it if you're around Fisherman's Wharf.

Just had my 1st breakfast at Darrens cafe, good food quick service and quick turn around. All the staff are busy but are really friendly. Being my 1st time to San Francisco good start to the holiday. If your best by defo pay a visit can't wait to come back for lunch and try the Pao. Overall a good price as well.

Open for breakfadt and lunch. Enjoyed blueberry pankcakes. Pricy...$50 for 4 people to eat simple breakfast items. Food Was fresh, arrived hot and waitress very attentive.

We just happened to stumble upon Darren’s as we were looking for a breakfast spot. We parked at the meters but you really need to take care in reading all of the signs to avoid a ticket. Our breakfast was great. There were so many different food choices that everyone was happy. My husband had pork noodle soup and I had an omelette. Our friends had French toast and eggs Benedict. The service was outstanding as they were very attentive and the food was very good! Very casual atmosphere with reasonable prices. Thanks Darren!

We ate here five times for breakfast and it was great--prompt and friendly service (thanks Eva!) and delicious food. They tailored the breakfast for our ten year old and he too is in love with Darrens.

We dined here three times during our SF stay....and probably would have eaten here more, but we thought that we should "expand our horizons". We tried so many breakfast dishes here.....French Toast, Pancakes, Omelettes, Corned Beef & Eggs, English Muffin Sandwiches.........all were great-tasting and served very promptly! The staff was always pleasant and the prices were VERY fair, considering SF costs. If you're staying at a hotel close to Fisherman's Wharf, this is a place you most definitely need to visit for breakfast.

Darren's Cafe is the perfect place for breakfast. The coffee is great as is the food. Unpretentious and welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful. Came back the following day for the same again. Had the English breakfast and my some had the French toast. Both were delicious. Eggs over easy cooked to perfection and the French toast slightly crisp on the outside and chewy in the middle. Well done Darren!

Just a small place with many staff to get the work done. Truly all the staff are aware of ALL tables and pitch in...don't really see that often enough. Breakfast was good and served fast. Definitely worth a stop if heading to Fisherman's Wharf.

Visited after reading reviews. Excellent food & service, highly recommended for breakfast. Would come again

When to this cafe for breakfast and It was great. The French toast were the best we had in our whole holiday. Eggs Benedict were also really nice (would have had less Hollandais on mine) and cooked perfectly. You should try this place it's just off fisherman's Wharf.

It was a no frills but satisfying Vietnamese fix during our stay in the SF Wharf area. The beef balls pho fresh and authentic. There are wide selection of American Breakfast menu too. There are a few locals and workers from the Wharf here for a cheap and good eat. Recommended.

Stumbled upon this place en route to the waterfront. Great service and fast good breakfast food. Easy and quick to allow more time to explore the area. I would highly recommend this place.

Fab omelette for breakfast with great service. Waiters were attentive and got a great atmosphere. Good value for money too

Great traditional American dinner food and Vietnamese food under one roof that is served fast and affordable on Fisherman’s Wharf. Friendly and efficient and everyone in the family found something they enjoyed from chicken fried steak to Pho. Not San Francisco seafood, so it is a nice change of pace on the wharf.

The Best Pho in the city by far. very friendly staff and if your looking for a warm bowl of soup on a chilly SF day this is the spot

In San Francisco, Taylor Street, near fisherman's wharf come and have a delicious breakfast at Darren's cafe....toasts, omelets, excellent coffee. Everything is delicious and served with a smile!

An excellent no-frills diner with a great choice of classic American and Chinese dishes. Great for breakfast with both indoor and outdoor seating.

We were staying in a nearby hotel on a room only basis, hence needing a good breakfast to start the day. We followed the TripAdvisor recommendation and tried Darren’s Cafe. A good decision and ate there for four mornings. On each occasion, the staff were welcoming and attentive. The food was great as was the coffee. A good start. The costs in San Francisco would generally make you teeth melt however the bills here were reasonable - about $45 dollars for two breakfasts and coffee. Top tip for this place is get there early, as there can be queues.

All the usual offerings, complete with potatoes and toast of your choice. Freshly squeezed orange juice was really good. California omelette was good, and hash browns weren't greasy. Coffee topped up regularly.

Up a side street just off the main drag, fab place for lunch, value for money and friendly staff. Grilled cheese sandwich was the best!

My husband and I stopped here to start our day and the food was so delicious!! Everything was cooked to perfection !! The staff is super friendly and the service is amazingly quick!!

We both had omelettes. Service was very fast. Food was good. Also, served Vietnamese food. Saw several people eating it somusthave been good.

We had our breakfast here every day of our trip, tried to challenge David with different eggs each morning, wow he was amazing eggs always cooked to perfection. Had poached, boiled, fried and scrambled. Really set us up for the day ahead.

Food was delicious. Service was great. Great experience! Owner is super friendly and offered amazing service. Would return any day!

If you stay on Fisherman’s Wharf, do yourself a favor and go to Darren’s Cafe. The staff are friendly, fast & professional. The food plentiful & cooked exactly as you specify. A bonus, the prices are very reasonable in contrast to the other restaurants in the area!!

Typical american breakfast place. Decent food, egg benedict with hashbrown or French toasts. Ok to friendly service.

We were looking for a breakfast place before taking the Alcatraz ferry. Our 1st choice was totally full so we ended up here as they had spaces left outside. The service was fast and attentive and the food & drinks came fast. Nothing too special but everything worked from pancakes to scrambled egg bagels.

Don’t line up at Hollywood Cafe, Darren’s Cafe is just around the corner and just as good or better.

This lovely little diner was round the corner from our hotel and we chose to come here every morning rather than breakfast there. Great menu with v good range. Fab service an food tasted great. Every time.

The menu selection is impressive, however, the server was stressed and it showed. Not wanting high sodium, hi fat, we opted for the pho. The noodles were clumpedin the bowl, a very small amount of basil that was not fresh. The sprouts were good and crisp. There was such a grease slick on top, it took about a dozen napkins to soak it up. Very salty, no flavour broth. Btw, the coffee was very good, price $3.55 per cup. Maybe the other items were good, won't be back.

The best breakfast in town by far we eat twice there you will not be disappointed, highly recommended.

Had breakfast here 2 mornings, good selection on the menu for breakfast and Lunch. Friendly staff and nice environment

This cafe had great service and was really good value breakfast. Lots of variety and value for money. Staff very attentive and service was quick. Highly recommend. Food was good quality and portion was good size.

Small cafe with a friendly staff. Breakfast was cooked to order fresh and hot. I would recommend this Darren’s for breakfast.

Amazing breakfast! Just eat here! You won’t regret it! Delicious, fresh food. You can watch the chef prepare the food! Everything looked excellent!

We were pleasantly surprised to find pho and other Asian entrees at Darren's Cafe at Fisherman's Wharf. Fresh and tasty, quick service and typically-priced for a touristy area, I would recommend if you need an Asian food fix. I wouldn't recommend the washrooms though -- very dirty and the worst tp ever--which some consider to be a sign of a restaurant with good food!

Wonderful food and very friendly staff! We enjoyed Bagels, Pancakes and chicken Noodle Soup. Everything was tasty and delicious.

Looking at the other reviews I was expecting more. The waitress was nice but the quality of the food was not

We stopped by for breakfast based on other TripAdvisor reviews, and were not disappointed! The menu had a good variety including traditional breakfast offerings, lunch, and Asian soups and foods. I had a Bay omelet which included shrimp, my husband had the corned beef hash, everything was delicious. The service was quick, and the price was very reasonable for Fisherman's Wharf, and SF in general. We were able to walk here from Hotel Zephyr where we were staying.

This was so good. We visited for breakfast right before leaving town but I wish we were there later so I could try some of the afternoon offerings. It’s a small little place just a block away from the beaten path and everything was delicious. They offer “American breakfast” all day and also have Vietnamese dishes for lunch and dinner. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

We had breakfast here on our last day in San Francisco. The staff were pleasant and efficient, the food was delicious and quick. A bit pricey, but that is Fisherman’s Wharf for you. I would highly recommend it.

I’d read the breakfasts were good here, but we simply never managed to get there that early so we settled on lunch on our last day. The burgers were good, well cooked, but they were just burgers & fries. The menu looks extensive and the service was prompt, so overall we enjoyed our lunch.

Very quick, tasty and large portions. Friendly helpful staff. We only had breakfast, but this is NOT CHEAP EATS. $3.55 for tea or coffee and it goes up from there.

We were staying at the Hotel Zoe just around the corner from this cafe and used it 3 times during our stay. It's a small place but no way detracts from the food and service provided. The staff take care of you and are helpful, they work hard with service and clearing of tables. The cafe is very near Pier 39 and in the Fisherman's Wharf area. The food was fab and plentiful and there is nothing I could find fault with the place

Food really great. Staff so friendly. Meals reasonably priced. food comes out very quick. i would recommend this cafe for breakfast as we loved it.

I never fail to visit Darren's Cafe whenever I am in San Francisco. Their food is just awesome. The service is also great. I will keep coming back.

Had breakfast there. The French toast was wonderful but the eggs Benedict sauce was not good at all. The service was very quick and efficient but be careful because we were charged for several things that we did not order.

We were awake early, having just arrived from London. We wanted a good breakfast near to Pier 33 as we had a trip to Alcatraz booked. I read good reviews of Darren’s cafe, I liked the fact that it opened at 07:30, and offered some Vietnamese influenced dishes as well as typical American breakfast dishes. Darren’s did not disappoint: we had mostly American breakfast dishes - all good - and we also shared a plate of fried rice, which was really good. I had a Vietnamese iced coffee and we all left happy and full. Our bill (for 5 people) was $88.

Great breakfast and a very busy place the food was good price right we had good laughs with the people that work here

During 6 day visit we ate breakfast at Darren’s 3 times, that says it all. The food was good and plentiful, quick service and friendly servers. Slightly cheaper than some of the other breakfast eateries but just as good

Fabulous breakfast- huge homemade hash brown, perfect poached eggs and corned beef hash- not enough places do this as well as here. The freshly squeezed orange juice was the best we had the whole trip. Pricey but delicious breakfast.

We ended up here for breakfast and were very impressed. Quick, friendly service, delicious food. Would recommend highly.

A nice pleasant cafe in Fisherman’s wharf area Breakfast and lunch only Close around 2 pm No hassle service just for coffee

My husband and I dropped in for some early breakfast following a bit of jet lag. Plenty of choice and really friendly. Food was absolutely delicious... only downside was the sandwich was a bit greasy and could have been drier. Would also be great to have some public WiFi. That said we would definitely return.

We stopped here for breakfast, which was good quality served by helpful and friendly staff. Good place in the beach street area.

We stopped in for breakfast...very good eggs and sourdough toast cooked perfect. The sausage links were bland I would order ham or bacon next time. Quick sitting.

We are early morning risers and stayed at a hotel in Fisherman’s Wharf for a week vacation over Labor Day weekend. Darren’s was one of the only places that opened before 8 or 9 am (7:30). We ate there most mornings for breakfast and a few times there was a line of people prior to 7:30 and they opened up early and invited everyone in. Great owner and his son is a nice young man. Very nice people. Food was amazing! Over medium eggs cooked perfect every time, breakfast potatoes best I’ve ever had, French toast was fantastic! Highly recommend!

The only place we went back to in our 3 week road trip. Great breakfast choice, well cooked and presented, accompanied by excellent service.

Great service, great breakfast, fast and reasonable. We will go back tomorrow! French toast and eggs were very good - cooked perfectly. Very friendly!

This is the second place I’ve eaten breakfast in SF, and I’ve been consistently pleased. I didn’t see the phô on the menu, and frankly didn’t know it was available before my visit, which has bummed me out a bit. I love phô. Still, I enjoyed my bacon and eggs, which were cooked to order, arrived quickly and were reasonably priced. The dining area was clean and full of natural light from the floor to ceiling windows and glass doors in the storefront. Good breakfast.

Picked this place after reading good reviews and we were not disappointed. Food was good and quick. Service staff were attentive but not overly. Coffee was always topped up. No frills but exactly what you want from a breakfast place. Portions are good so you defo won't leave hungry. So good we came back the following day!. Popular place.

Got here before a queue formed outside (other places already had queues) and got seated quickly. Service was good, food was good but not amazing. It's good for a reasonably priced fill-up before you go exploring, and it is close to the water front and Pier 39, but there are better places for breakfast if you are willing to queue!

This is on the stop for the On and Off Bus. We enjoyed breakfast here and then caught the next bus to continue on with our tour. This restaurant is right at the edge of Pier 39. Our breakfast was great and the coffee was so enjoyable I took one to go!

Darren's was recommended to us by Dean at the Kimpton Alton and it did not disappoint! We stopped here for a late lunch and breakfast during our trip to San Fran and would have come more if it was open later hours! The staff is friendly and quick and food is AMAZING! Big portions and very reasonable prices - including the beer :) would highly recommend Darren’s for breakfast or lunch!

A hidden gem in San Francisco. The food was delicious and well prepared. The coffee was great and staff were very friendly. We ordered scrambled eggs and bacon with French toast. Nothing fancy just delicious for $17.

We had breakfast here on our last day in San Francisco ,it was very good. They focus a lot on eggs but you can make up your breakfast with whatever is on the menu .There was a good selection ,you can eat outside (undercover) or inside, the staff were only to happy to accommodate you. It was very busy at the time we were there which shows how good it is. You can also get lunch ,there was a good selection on the menu. Like other places we ate at it is only a few minutes away from the Fishermans Wharf area ,its worth making the effort. There was three of us and we all liked the food here.

My husband and I decided to try this place for breakfast. Not the best eggs I have had and coffee - so strong...Tiny cafe staff ok

Excellent service. Eva was the best. Fast, good food. Stopped in everyday for breakfast while on vacation. Our last day, they treated us with a bowl of fresh fruit and wished us safe travels. Everyone was just awesome!

We had breakfast there our first morning in San Francisco which was a Sunday. We had to sit outside and found it a bit chilly until the heat lamps were on long enough to warm the area. Maybe turn the lamps on earlier. The food was alright but it took forever to get our French toast which came after every one was finished. Not great for groups more than four.

Operating on the theory that it's difficult to screw up breakfast, our experience for breakfast was OK. The food was fine and the service adequate. Prices are as low as you will find on Fisherman's Wharf. A small place. The tables are crammed in and it feels like you are sitting in the kitchen. Very noisy with the hustling kitchen staff and clattering of dishes.

Most touristy restaurants everywhere one goes, the food is usually not good in quality or quantity. But at Darren's Cafe, the pho is authentic and delicious. Run family style, one can tell they take pride in their product. There are many other items on the menu, but as far as judging a Vietnamese restaurant, the pho is to be judged, If the pho is good, the rest of the menu will be good. And at Darren's Cafe, the pho is good. Large bowl of beef pho...$11.50....not a bad price for a touristy area. Open only for lunch!

We are craving for rice, noodle and hot soup. We love the pho, friend rice and American breakfast. Open from 7am.

As a swede, I’m used to really good strong black coffee and this breakfast was really good, the french toast tasted perfect and now I’m ready to go on with the rest of the day!

The staff here are lovely and will take good care of you. We had a very nice breakfast to get us set for the day, the coffee was delicious and the waitress was really helpful with giving us directions on the activities we had planned for the day.

Quick service. Nice food and reasonable price. Never know by the name of restaurant but has some very nice Vietnamese food as well as extensive breakfast menu

I ate breakfast at Darren's on my last day in SF in Mid May, he only day I could wait until 7:30. I was in a mood to try the Eggs Benedict and Darren's came through. The coffee was good and the Eggs Benedict was just fine - maybe not quite as good as the Buena Vista, but I have no complaints. Service was prompt and friendly. So not hesitate.

Walked here from Sheraton at Fishermans wharf. Had a large omelet that included shrimp and spinach., It was very good. A bit small but friendly staff and even refilled our coffee in "to go" cups.

We like our breakfast - and this worked nicely for us ahead of a trip to Alcatraz. Limited indoor seating, so we sat outside under a heater and we were fine. The food was simple but excellent (loved the country potatoes) and the service great.

This place is easy to miss, I walked past it the first time, but there is a sign at the end of the road. There are tables and chairs to sit outside and the staff will come and give you a menu (you can also sit inside) I only had a sausage butty here, but it was nice, although the sausages are thinner than ones I have in England, maybe it's just a local thing? You can get local and Asian food in this place, so they seem to cater for a lot. If you need to use the toilet in this place, ask the staff first, they are hidden at the back past the kitchen.

If you are staying at the Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf, this is just a stone's throw away. We ate here on our first two mornings in San Francisco. For an expensive city, the food here is reasonably priced. Delicious pancakes. Good coffee. Eat here.

Off the main front area but well attended by not only locals but the visitors who explore more than just the front road. Not far from several of the main line hotels. Welcome was great, service was excellent and the food was basic but wholesome. Cost was by other outlets very good and we were welcomed every morning we went in as worthy customers. Must be good as the local Police force used it for their breaks. Pity they only did breakfast and lunch but a good diner none the less.

Visited 3 weeks ago, great breakfast good variety. Pancakes were amazing, Food was hot service was great. Must visit if you are in Fishermans Wharf.

Short 10 minute wait for a table but boy was it worth it. Great Breakfast. Wide variety and delicious coffee. Highly recommend.

I did 3 days in San Francisco before a conference and Darren's was close to my hotel and highly rated so I headed there when it opened, for breakfast - I had eggs benedict which was absolutely perfect. the hollandaise was perfection as were the eggs and hash brown, all washed down with an average coffee. I came back a couple of days later and had the french toast. I could kill myself eating it, it was that good, this time I had black tea which was nice (i speak as a brit who drinks a lot of tea!) The service was polite and efficient but on both occasions it felt like they wanted me out as soon as I had finished. I get it these are small and popular places that fill up quick but it wasnt that busy. all in a must visit - the food is outstanding

I was just in america the other day. First time so i did wondered to myself, where should i go. I was about piere 39 and was stumped on where i should go. Then i saw this fantastico resturaunt that is worthy of wee bunter himself!! The food was actually pretty good but the atmosphere was the real star of the show here.....would reccomend!!! I have know a Darren at home and I will defo tell him about this 😂😂

Great busy cafe just off Fisherman’s Wharf. We had to wait 5 min for an inside table this place is very popular and no wonder. The breakfast menu is very comprehensive and the waitresses work very hard to ensure everyone is served in order and quickly. Food is delicious and soooo much choice. Just go and enjoy but take an appetite the portions are large!

Best breakfast in SF. Excellent service from friendly staff. The veggie omelette was especially good.

Nothing too fancy about the breakfast menu though they do have a few more omelette and frittata choices than usual. For families this is more affordable than going to more specialty breakfast places. They have a Vietnamese dinner menu but we can't comment on that. Have both inside and outside seating. Service was very fast despite it being very full.

Great breakfast just round the corner from our hotel.. Fast service and very helpful staff, highly recommended and good price, first breakfast under $50..

We had breakfast here one morning and the service and food was excellent. Would highly recommend as good value for money.

Excellent service, food freshly prepared before our eyes after the briefest of waits to be seated and served with coffee and juice. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great breakfast before hopping on a tram or a boat to Alcatraz !

This small cafe was busy even at 9 in the morning. We were lucky to arrive when we did, because ten minutes later people were queuing on the street outside for breakfast. By the time we left there were 10 people in the queue, but the wait will have been worth it. My breakfast called a Popeye Scramble, was named for the cartoon character, it was just what Popeye would have ordered, rich spinach with its iron flavour, going well with minced (or ground as they say here) beef in scrambled eggs, with lovely juicy potatoes and spring onions. My partner opted for Corned beef hash and two eggs. My partner felt this was a perfect mix of corned beef and potatoes in the hash. Both breakfasts came with toast white for my partner, sourdough for me.

Great food, fast service, good prices. Orange juice was fresh and the egg scramble was very tasty. Large portions. It is a little loud, but that is the wharf.

Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids loved this place. So much so we went multiple times. The combo’s for breakfast are such good value. Perfectly cooked eggs and thin crispy bacon. The best French toast we had all trip. Nothing was oily! Tasted so nice and fresh. Staff always lovely and friendly. Food served super quick. Only a block from the water so it’s perfect before exploring the piers for the day.

Wow found this place first day in San Fran and ended up going there every day for breakfast. I ended up having eggs Florentine everyday, sound bit sad, but the best I have ever tasted. The diner menu was extensive, but to add that bit of difference they had a great choice of Asian food, it looked fantastic, I just never wanted it for breakfast. Staff all naturally very friendly and will do their very best to accommodate any request.

Loved this restaurant! It was a welcome change after some of the really poor breakfast choices on offer along our USA road trip. Fantastic to see the chefs cooking at top speed on the hot plates, such skill! The food was beautifully fresh and tasted gorgeous..great service and prompt coffee refills. We only stayed a couple of days in SF but this was definitely a firm favourite.

Decent breakfast but they do offer Pho and Vietnamese meals. Knowing this now I might of done more lunch. You can sit outside and they have some heaters. I got bacon eggs and French toast. It was good and the service was perfect. Nothing amazing but conscientious spot right of the boardwalk near Applebee’s. Clean and efficient place to get a quick meal.

This is a great breakfast spot in the Fisherman’s Wharf area. It’s super clean and the service is great. The fruit and veggies taste fresh and everything was great. A great spot if you’re looking for a diner. We enjoyed it so much we had breakfast there both days we were in San Francisco.

We were staying at the Centric Hyatt, just around the corner. We were in SF for 3 days and ended up coming here for breakfast each morning. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and the choice and quality of food is excellent. The 1st morning we came , the place was full of builders, eating. Always a good sign. Highly recommend the place.

My Husband and I were looking for an economical spot for breakfast and he eyed this lovely little restaurant on a side street in Fishermans Wharf. The breakfast was wonderful (I had french toast, sausage and eggs, and my husband had pancakes). The workers were personable, speedy and sweet. We tried a Vietnamese iced coffee, which was very tasty. I would highly recommend this cafe.

Best Pho ever👍👍👍 Looking for the best Pho in Fisherman’s Wharf? Darren’s Cafe Pho is the perfect soup for the cold weather.

Had excellent breakfast. Friendly staff and great menu options. Loved it. Fresh orange juice is the best. Omelets cooked perfectly.

Food is great, cooked just as you would have it. Service is family and right on the spot. At breakfast there 3 out of the four times and will put it on our must return list.

The staff was friendly. Our table ordered breakfast and lunch items. Service was fast and the food was good. Sidewalk seating or indoor seating available.

This is a must for breakfast. Great choice for all and lovely latte!! Will be definitely back soon. Great value too compared to others around.

Following our discovery of Darren's Café, we ate breakfast here every morning during our time in the Fisherman's Wharf area. The café is clean and service so snappy. Food options are plentiful, and all freshly prepared in the kitchen which is visible from the seating area. Everything our family of four ate on every occasion was so yummy, the hash brown potatoes and fried eggs were particularly good. What a great café, I wish we had one in my neighbourhood!

We stopped by this place for breakfast at fisherman's wharf area. Pros: -they have an all day breakfast menu -variety -their country potatoes side was very good -service very fast -very attentive staff and kind -hardworking fast staff Cons: -there was a taste in my omlettes that I did not like, I dunno what was it but I had that feeling. But to be honest all the other food was very good. -they close by 2:30 pm, wish they serve dinner. They seem to have very good options.

Our orders were perfect, crisp this, fresh that. Highly recommend. They do advertise breakfast all day but are only open until 2:00.

Went here for breakfast on way to fisherman’s wharf, que to get in that moved quickly. Food was lovely and really generous portion size. They serve main meal food and breakfast in AM so can have whatever. Some people were eating ramen! We really enjoyed it there.

Went to Darren’s yesterday for breakfast. Staff is great and they took good care of us. We sat next to the open kitchen and watched the cook manning the grill do his magic, this guy works! Ordered Eggs Benedict for myself, vegetable omelet for my wife. Great portions, well done no skimping. Definitely recommend.

Great variety of food. We had the Pho (Vietnamese soup). It was big, flavoursome and filled us. Restaurant was clean and tidy. You view the chefs as they cook, which was fun.

Was looking for breakfast in the wharf area and had found Denny's prices over inflated when we came upon this small joint. The place was full and the food looked good so we tried it and were pleasantly surprised. Fast, friendly service and reasonable prices. Portions were large and food was tasty. Can't go wrong eating here for breakfast....then found out that you can get anything on the menu even at 9 am....so going back to have the pho tomorrow morning!

Good diner. I had breakfast with a 3 egg omlete with avocado. They have Vietnamese specialties as well. Friendly service.

Conveniently located by near our hotel in fisherman's wharf this was a good breakfast place to stop. The food was ready very fast and we were able to get in and out before head out to site see. The food and the value were good.

Good brunch venue near Alton Hotel at Fisherman’s Wharf. Friendly staff and good service. Food tasty. I had the California omelette and hash brown which was delicious. My husband enjoyed his poached eggs with corned beef hash and potatoes though it was a little on the salty side. Coffee was good though we couldn’t have long black for some reason.

Very friendly staff, great food, good portion sizes, wanted to make sure we were satisfied, fast service

This modest place served as a very tasty brunch, for me the eggs hollandaise, for my husband the veggie teriyaki - cooked to order. Good freshly squeezed orange juice as well. All served quickly, with a smile, and enjoyed by us in the sunshine. Our 'City Sightseeing Tour Bus' guide had pointed it out so good on him, he was right, good food at very reasonable prices. .

Ran into this place on the way to Fisherman's Wharf and didn't have to wait at some of the places I researched before our trip (every morning the nearby Hollywood Cafe had a line going out into the street). I was wary of places too close to the Wharf, but the food was very good- nothing overly fancy, but better than your average breakfast establishment. The servers I noticed worked really hard and a s a team to make sure everybody had all that they needed most of the time. One in particular was stunning in part because of her constant cheerful persona.

Watery eggs, tasteless hash browns. Service was ok. Not sure anyone noticed we were there. Lots of people ordered pho for breakfast and looked satisfied

We had breakfast here 4 times on a recent stay in San Francisco. I had the pancake combo twice, French toast combo and eggs Florentine and my friend had the corned beef hash all 4 times, that’s how good it was. Everything was freshly cooked, but came quickly and was served with a smile. The staff also remembered us and our coffee orders, and and made us feel really welcome. The only fault was my cappuccino was half froth (no kidding) which seems to be a common situation in the US. We just stuck with the filter coffee after that. Would highly recommend Darrens for breakfast. If you’re staying at the Riu (formerly Sheraton) it’s just around the corner in Taylor Street and well worth the short walk.

Best breakfast EVER! Fast service, delicious food, price is right and the fresh squeezed OJ is to die for!!!!! You will not be disappointed!

My wife and I arrived in San Francisco on a "red eye" asking a local where she ate?She suggested Darren's, And the rest is HISTORY!! As Darren's is how we started each and every day religiously, Where my wife was able to experiment from the menu, and I could continue to be a creature of habit "BREAKFAST" And not just any breakfast, but pancakes that make you moan... Tony Bennet may have left his heart in San Francisco ...But I left mine at Darren's

Wow! Everybody welcomed us as soon as we walked in the door. This Fisherman’s Wharf restaurant is very small with a quaint atmosphere along with hard workers and friendly staff. The owner handled a bad situation with a homeless man very well. The food was soooo yummy and very well priced. I recommend this place for breakfast in a heartbeat!!

Id seen on TA that Darrens had good reviews and also was only a short walk from our hotel. So we decided to go there one morning for breakfast. We sat outside and shortly a member of staff came out and greeted us and asked us if we wanted any drinks, we ordered some OJ, plus tea and coffee which promptly arrived. There is lots to choose on the menu and once we'd decided we then looked forward to our cooked breakfasts. both our dishes were very tasty and i also had a nice fresh fruit bowl with mine. The service at Darren's is very friendly and welcoming and the food is very tasty. We liked Darren's so much we went twice while staying in SF! so if you want a good breakfast with friendly service with it, we definitely recommend this place!

They serve the full menu all day. My husband enjoyed the country fried steak combo first day and French toast combo second day. I had fried rice combo both days and it was very good. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.

I stumbled across this gem and immediately craved for Vietnamese pho when I saw the pictures. It’s a great place for breakfast/lunch for friends and family since they serve Vietnamese pho, baguette but also typical American pancakes etc. which makes it ideal for different types of eaters. I didn’t expect much but was very satisfied with my pho bo, a noodle soup with thinly sliced beef. Price was 11.25$ (ex. Tax) Can really recommend if you’re in the Bay Area and need something to east quickly.

Looking for a place to have an early breakfast in the Fisherman's Wharf area (in San Francisco the shops in this area open quite late) in a not very attractive street perpendicular to the main one we found this small place to eat American-style. Pancakes, French toasts, eggs cooked in all ways and even a good cappuccino. One of the best places in the area. (I've tried several)

This is a great stop for breakfast. Great service and excellent food. If you are looking for a home-style breakfast, Darren's is for you. We did notice several customers eating lunch items of the menu that looked tasty. We would return to this restaurant.

Normally I would consider my meal a 3 star, but given it's location by one of the most touristy spots in the country and taking in consideration the prices and portions of food I've got to give it another star. Breakfast/lunch was a chicken fried steak, country fried potatoes, 2 eggs and toast. Nothing bad, nothing outstanding. Meal was out so fast ( place was busy) that it must have been a microwaved CF steak. Servers are not glued to certain tables and help one another making service prompt. Only one block from Hollywood cafe which also a good spot. Menu includes some Vietnamese items.

Reasonable priced meals and snacks for a quick lunch. Had a grilled chicken, cheese salad on sourdough and was very tasty. Chips on the side. Quick service. $13.

We were looking for eggs benedict and found it in this small simple breakfast diner. It was perfect. Great breakfast food at a reasonable price. The wait staff was perfect, as was the food. In and out quickly and ready for the day.

Once we found this little gem we came for breakfast every day. We were in search of oatmeal for my wife, they had this amd much more. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend

The waitress was a little confused but the owner was great. The food was awesome but we had to ask for glasses of water twice and coffee creamer once.

We were in the area of Pier 39 and decided to use Trip Advisor to find a place for breakfast. This was one of several in the area but the reviews helped make the decision. Seating can be rather limited but if you can get a seat go for it! The omelette and either type of potatoes would e a good choice Service was rather fast and the staff was very pleasant. Glad we visited

Stopped on our way to the pier. Great food and good service. The veggie spring rolls were fabulous and not what were were expecting. Nice little stop off place.

We went here for breakfast one morning. We were looking for an affordable option for breakfast for a family of four in the Fisherman's Wharf area. This place was a much better option than the chain places. Everything we ordered was delicious. We tried an omelette, which was huge and came with a unique thin tasty hash brown. We also tried a burger, BLT and the chicken viatnemese sandwich. It's nice that they have several Vietnamese options in addition to traditional American dishes. There are not many affordable options in the touristy fisherman's wharf area, but this one is a solid choice!

29dec2017 Breakfast around 0830am Plenty of choices on foods Super pricy Staffs serving without smile Restaurant is crowded, make visitors not comfortable. Food quality, nothing special.

My son had pho, was very good, they were out of shrimp rolls by 1pm, so we ordered egg rolls was delicious!! I got grilled pork vermicelli was so good. Also order French toast, yummmy

Great limoncelli noodle dishes , so good we went twice in a period of 3 days. Great service, on top of everything, their garlic fish sauce is a must have.

We visited Darren’s Cafe for breakfast. The food was amazing! It arrived quickly and was clearly made fresh. The breakfast potato’s were the best I have ever eaten. The food and service were so good that we went back again the next day.

We went here for breakfast. We only went in because it was convenient and they had a free table. The food was really good. The pancakes were really light but filling and the french toast was lovely. Only complaint is that the fruit side was quite small and had too much apple in to be good value.

Excellent little cafe near Fisherman’s Wharf and all the hotels. Of our 4-day Visit, we ate at Darren’s two mornings in a row. Excellent coffee! The breakfast muffin sandwich on sourdough was perfect. Great, crispy bacon, and chocolate chip pancakes were a huge hit, too.excellent The customer service was right on point from everyone, and they all really hustle. Definitely highly recommend this cafe.

Excellent Breakfast & Service! We really enjoyed everything we had from the fresh orange juice and great coffee with our delicious country potatoes highly recommend

With low expectations, a local person recommended is this place and it was a great great surprise. Local food, good Price, good service and great great taste. Definetly I would recommend this place!!

The food was fantastic and the service was very friendly. Went for breakfast, but half of our party didn't order what would be considered a typical breakfast meal. The Pho was excellent, the French toast was perfect, and the omelets are made to order. I loved this place and can't wait to go back. This is our new breakfast spot when we're staying in the bay.

Happened upon this cafe for breakfast Just off the Main Street from fishermen’s wharf Very popular place Great pancakes with fresh fruit Reasonable prices too Very clean and efficient staff
Loved it
This place is legit. Another little cozy place in Fisherman's Wharf that is just right across the road from the piers. Staff were super friendly, sat us immediately and took our order within minutes of arriving. The food is absolutely unreal. Everything is fresh and cooked perfectly. You get quite a bit of food for your dollar, even if it is on the more expensive side. My wife and I would love to eat here again. Totally recommend.
