Lovely Sunday Briunch

By Colleen G |

Had brunch here on Sunday. Sat outside and enjoyed stuffed apricot french toast with peach topping. It was delish. The service is friendly and the coffee is tasty. My husband enjoyed the eggs ranchero and peach tea. It was a fun and I would definitely go back.

Family brunch

By raddiz |

While visiting Philadelphia's Mutter Museum this restaurant was suggested for lunch or brunch. As it was close by we chose to try it. Everyone enjoyed their choices. The potato latkes were delicious. Dishes served with latkes were as special treat. I noticed in a small print footnote that the restaurant does not allow one to make up their own omelet choice allegedly due to busy times. But, their menu choices are quite sufficient. If only the men's room were cleaner I would give this place an excellent rating.

Family get together for brunch

By Jonathan P |

Incredible food and service from waitress named Ashley Heith as she was AWESOME! I had the dried tomato, goat cheese and spinach omlette with fruit. 6 people at the table so tip was included in the bill. My aunt Irma lives 6 miles from the restaurant and recommended it and it was great

Brings a smile to my face every time

By Bdh26 |

No we do not go every weekend, and not every day in a weekend, but we are clearly Day by Day converts. We love the food, love to see our neighborhood turn out and I can even say the coffee is perfect for second cupping. I can give you great tips, like the breakfast sandwich is best on a croissant, but breakfast/brunch is too personal a meal. Have what you want, have it your way. But this is not the local diner for two eggs over easy, this is where you get perfect French toast. Recognize the locals get there either early or late, and never get flustered over time. Good food takes time, and this is good food.

Solid, Not Spectacular

By darxhow |

Went for Sunday brunch. Had eggs, potatoes, pancakes, bacon, toast (black bread), and fruit. No real complaints. The food was good (eggs scrambled well, pancakes fluffy), but nothing really stood out. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd probably return because it was good value for the money. Just not special enough to go out of my way.

I love the quiche!

By AlexLikesToGo |

I came here with my partner for our 7th anniversary almost a year ago. We ordered the shrimp and spinach quiche and I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's my favorite thing I've ever eaten. We'll be coming back when we're in town this weekend!

Desserts Supreme

By Janet G |

Stopped here while waiting to go to a show at the Armory. Small place with close tables. Service was very good. Had a breakfast of eggs, ham and home fries which was cooked properly. and good. The best part was the carrot coffee cake with cream cheese filling served warm. It was excellent. Another was the cinnamon rolls with icing also served warm. Both were delicious but the carrot cake coffee cake was top on the list and was out of this world. Would go back again just for that. Coffee was also brewed well. Total price with tip about 25.00.

This is good

I went with several business associates for lunch and everyone was happy. They serve breakfast menu for lunch, which is some people like. I look forward to trying their brunch with the kids. Working hours are limited, so check their website before going in.

Easter Brunch Perfection.

By Ian U |

My parents and I stopped in for Easter brunch. The food was phenomenal and the service was great. Can't wait to go back!

Just like home if your mother was a great cook.

By Susan S |

Lots of daily specials provide variety to the basic but delicious menu. Salad dressings taste home made; cakes and other desserts are excellent and definitely factor produced. This place is not fancy or fussy. It is solid, well prepared food with very reasonable prices.

One of my favorite Philly Breakfast Spots

By Miles B |

Wonderful fresh breakfasts. This is not diner food. A wide range of fresh baked goods. Amazing eggs dishes. And lots more. Check it out.

Amazing brunch

By Kristopher M |

Visiting from out of town, we found this place on the way to the Mütter museum. It was amazing. Service was great. I had the black bread BLT with two over easy eggs, it was super tasty and messy enough to be fun. She had oatmeal raisin pancakes, which were even better, with just a hint of cinnamon. Service was great. I definitely would recommend this place. P.S. Try the biscuits! Got one as an add on, really glad we did.

Sunday brunch with family

By Anning C |

Great food! Fit 4 people without wait. Service is good for a busy morning. Very creative food. Not expensive.

Great Brunch

By Selkirk65 |

They serve lunch too but this place is all about Brunch. Get the French toast for a real treat. You may have to wait in line to get a table but it's worth it. Very accommodating service and great food.

Fantastic brunch, vegetarian and vegan options

By 421Traveler_123 |

Had a great brunch at Day by Day. The menu has a wide range of options, including meals for vegetarians and vegans.

Amazing brunch place

By Ali W |

I absolutely love this brunch place. Fast service and absolutely delicious food. Not too overpriced. They have amazing fresh baked desserts and pastries that are so popular they frequently sell out. I would recommend the cinnamon buns or the sticky toffee buns.

Great food, long wait for brunch

By Ldunkel |

Although we waited a while for brunch the food was amazing. Portions sizes are appropriate and service was quick and attentive. The potato pancakes were delicious. My friend order the florentine and also thought it was very good. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

More Than Good Enough For Brunch and Lunch

By TommyBoy94 |

As seems evident from the small framed Bing Crosby picture in the window, this place may have been inspired by a song from this icon. However, it is anything but a restaurant reminiscent of the 1930's and 40's...an ambiance that would have been welcome here. Instead you do get a well-scrubbed modern and pleasant enough cafe with cream hued and light blue walls and light colored wooden tables. There is also an outdoor seating area and a big mirror inside that makes the relatively small room seem larger than it is. Service is excellent and the restaurant seems suited to a largely 20-something to 30-something crowd that lives and works in the Rittenhouse area of downtown Philadelphia. However, there were also some older patrons. There is no bar. The acoustics seemed good and there was no loud music or loud people to shout over, even though it was pretty crowded. There is a lively catering and take-out business. I understand from my wife, Barbara that this is one of her favorite catering venues. I would describe the food as pretty inventive without being totally over the top. The Huevos Rancheros were very popular and the Challah French Toast with peach sauce looked really inviting. There are all kinds of salads and interesting variations on sandwiches and other dishes. Barbara had the "compose" (Pronounced, but somehow not spelled on the menu, with an acute accent over the e.) which was a trio of home made chicken salad (wonderful), a variant of bean salad (Also terrific) and a carrot salad, which could possibly have used a couple of apple slices or sweet fruit to spruce it up...served with an excellent hearty brown bread. I had the fine and filling smoked turkey with melted Havarti...served open-faced on a thick crusted, delicious hearty bread with a very good red bliss potato salad. Barbara really liked the atmosphere and enjoyed people-watching from our window seat. I felt vaguely uneasy, perhaps because I was in the mood for one of those 1930's type places with a bar, haze, banquets, booths and an old piano player somewhere near the mirror.

Best breakfast I have had in ages

By Anne S |

Just wonderful. Got there early, so no wait. Great, strong coffee. The potato pancake eggs benedict was amazing.

Our favorite place for lunch or brunch

By MizLoo |

OK - I'm prejudiced. I guess I have eaten a couple hundred meals here in the last 12 years. Their cooking is at least as good as mine, with much greater creativity and variety. Wonderful soups - I love the mushroom, my partner loves them all. Usually one standard (like Italian Wedding or gazpacho), is on offer, as well a second, more creative soup. There is always at least one quiche, 2 omelettes, and a special salad or two. Soups, salads and quiches change weekly. The consistent lunch menu includes sandwiches, salads and house entrees. The daily lunch specials usually feature one pasta, 1 carnivore delight, something vegetarian and a surprise. Friday, Saturday and Sunday brunch includes standards like Eggs Benedict (variations with lox or crab often available), unique dishes like the sweet potato/chorizo hash w fried eggs, great latkes, a lox or whitefish platter, and specials like stuffed pancakes. They open @ 10 on the weekend. come early to avoid the line. My relatives and friends include vegetarians and vegans. The only problem they have with ordering at Day by Day is making the decision - lots of choices. We meet a friend or friends here for lunch or brunch at least one day every weekend that we are in town. It can get noisy and there is often a wait, but the food is so good... Day by Day has been here for over 25 years, but i've only patronized it for the past 12 - since I moved into an apartment across the street. Lest you think my choice is limited, let me point out that there are nearly 20 good restaurants within a 2 block walk from here - 2 are closer, most are at least OK, but Day by Day is affordable, tasty, consistent and - I love the place.

Do not order/eat salad!

By The Bean's Talk |

My husband and I went for brunch. My dish came with a side salad which unfortunately made me quite ill. When I called the restaurant, I did not get an apology - but a vigorous denial. The manager told me that my illness could not have possibly come from DbD and that they were always very "careful." I beg to differ. Since it was a Sunday - my husband and I spent the entire day together and the salad was the only thing that was different about our food. I should have known better as the lettuce did not look good on the plate. Stick with the fully cooked meats. My husband enjoyed his burger very much.

GREAT brunch

By Ms R |

Insane food. So good. Fresh everything. French toast was amazing. Kale omelette was great. Staff is ok. We ate outside in February in Philadelphia, yes the food was THAT good.

Delicious and inexpensive

By cle s |

Quality food, well prepared, home made -- I loved it. Seating is a little tight but the price is right.

Great Catering

By Amber A |

A very long overdue review for a fantastic catering crew for my wedding. First of all, Stephen was the only caterer rep to say he was excited to cater a brunch wedding. EXCITED! He invited my fiancée and I in for brunch (on the house) to sample their goods and we were sold! (The Challah French Toast - dare I say better than Sabrina's?!) Working with a small budget, Stephen worked within my limitations and with my Martha Stewart ideas. Leading up to the event, Stephen was organized and helpful. Day of the event, the food was scrumptious, the drinks amazing, the staff friendly. Most importantly, he made my mother feel important and had hot sauce for her ;) Highly recommend their catering- reasonable prices, excellent customer service and delicious food - my guests could not stop raving about the food!!

Horrible Customer Service

By Lanet O |

I've eaten lunch here and ordered food from here to cater company events so naturally when planning my wedding I thought of them. Stephen took over a month to get me a quote because of a broken foot. Not to sound cold but I have no idea why that would delay a quote for so long especially when I provided a full menu (chosen from their list) and he apparently doesn't even make the quotes someone else does. So it essentially took about a month for him to forward my email to someone else. Unprofessional to say the least. I will not be using them for my wedding or any cooperate events moving forward.

day by day

By abirish |

We went there for brunch (on a Sunday) with my family. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes because it was crowded. So we knew right away the restaurant was going to be good. The food was very good. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to eat, there were a few good choices. I had a omlet with sun dried tomatoes, spinach and some kind of cheese in it. It was very good. The potatoes that came with the omlet were very good. The prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend this place. The waiting is worth it.

A terrible experience and an unstable owner.

By Michael92780 |

It takes a lot for me to write a terrible review for a restaurant but I feel obligated to in this situation given the awful experience that we had here with the owner, Robin. My wife and I came here for Sunday brunch with our 3 year old daughter. We arrived at 10am right when the doors opened but she would not seat us because we were waiting for our 4th person. Keep in mind that I am carrying a 3 yr old and that a table for 3 is the same as a table for 4. She said it's because she wouldn't be able to turn the table as quickly and the waiter would have to come over more times. I would have left right there and then but our friend wanted to meet us there. She came 2 minutes afterwards. Now, Robin's argument about turning a table quicker may have had some merit (although bad customer service) if a waiter even bothered to come by and bring us menus. It took me a while to flag someone down and then they had to assign a waiter to us. I ordered pancakes for my daughter and asked the waiter to bring them as soon as they were ready. More than 15 minutes go by and nothing. Robin then comes over with one pancake and offers it to my kid. I thought how nice...she's trying to make up for before when she had told me to stop being "flip" about the table. Not the case....after a mediocre meal with bad service she had the balls to charge us $1 for the pancake! The woman at the register asked me if our meal was alright at the end and she didn't bother to ask why when I said no. It does not end there! I called Robin to speak with her about our experience and she apologized that it wasn't a fit, not taking any responsibility and preceded to defend everything that they did and then said that we left the table a mess. We have a three year old....if you are not a family friendly restaurant then you should say so. I told Robin to send me that $1. She said she would and I promised that I would write that in here. It never came. Bottom line: awful service, mediocre food, and an unstable owner.

Delicious brunch

By ladydeexyz011 |

Plain atmosphere but delicious brunch. Stuffed French toast was huge. My breakfast sandwich (eggs, bacon, cheese over croissant with potatoes and fruit on side) was also a nice size and very good. Coffee hit the spot. And the staff was attentive without being all over you. Plus the prices were quite reasonable. A win- win.

Day By Day--Best brunch in town

By Deborah W |

We are regular customers at Day by Day--since it's the best brunch in town. Their regular menu is always complemented by terrific and seasonal specials. Terrific brunch fare and the servers are the best.

Good food. Average service

By OssamaGhazal |

I got the Huervos Rancheros and it was good. My friends food was also good. One thing to keep in mind is they don't place orders on Sunday's past 2:30 PM. We wanted to get the buttermilk pancakes but the service was slow; we didn't get the food till 3 and asked for the pancakes and they said we can't place the order anymore.

Best Breakfast in Philly (great service, too)

By greatbigsoxfan |

My son lives in Philadelphia and we've been coming here often so this review is a culmination of many (12?) visits we've taken to Day-by-Day. Always excellent choice of fresh and delectable breakfast ans brunch offerings. The chalk board selections are especially appealing. Their muffins are great, in fact I've made a meal out of having just two with coffee. All the selections seem to be large portions. After eating breakfast and/or brunch here, don't make plans for lunch. This place tends to get very busy especially on weekends so be prepared to wait in line; it's worth the wait. Lastly, I have no idea why there are comments about slow/poor service. Those commenters need to be realistic, get over it. The place is crowded, the staff always seems to be busy, serving people.

Don't go with a large party - bad experience

By John D |

I was visiting my daughter and we went to Day By Day for the Sunday brunch. My daughter had happily eaten there so we were expecting a wonderful time. Unfortunately, the restaurant managed to totally foil our plans. Granted we had a large (8 person) group, but we were told that if we walked the neighborhood they would text us within approximately 40 minutes. We were delighted when we got a text after 20 minutes, but when we got to the restaurant were told the text was a mistake, just a few minutes more.... Well over an hour and a half later (on top of the 1/2 hour already passed), still no tables, and given the inept hostessing/managing we had had it and moved on.

Delicious Business Luncheons Delivered

By RubyPeach |

I've been using Day by Day for several years to provide fresh, tasty luncheons on both large and small scale. I've never, ever been disappointed by their product. I've ordered boxed lunches, sandwich trays, snacks and breakfast. This company is thorough and professional. The offerings aren't cheap but they are worth the price and better for you than most of the catered lunches available in Center City Philadelphia.

Great Brunch

By Jeff T |

We went here for Saturday brunch. Arrived about 10:00 and were seated immediately. Waiter was friendly and efficient. The food was very good, there were six of us so we got a wide variety of breakfasts and shared. Everything was well prepared and tasted good. The waiters were also prompt with coffee refills. It was a little pricey, but it's close to my daughter's apartment and convenient. I don't know that I would bother driving a long way to eat here, but if you are nearby it's great for brunch.

The place looks like a cafeteria... but the food is decent and the prices really affordable.

Great brunch

By Keenefleet |

We had a great time at this friendly brunch place. We stumbled into shared 'appetizers' of cinnamon buns and pear coffee cake. They were so good we were giggling. A variety of main courses, all good. Soy chorizo burritos were a hit with vegetarians and carnivores alike. Challah french toast was tasty. Eggs Benedict were delicious. The smoked fish platter was a classic. A very enjoyable meal in a bright, pleasantly cramped space.

Day by Day

By Gordon M |

Decent food but crowded and over priced. Sweet potato hash browns were great. Diverse menu -- breads yummy. Friendly staff. Pancakes were supposed to come with mix fruits -- but 3 tiny pieces. 20 minute wait on Sunday - somewhat noisy.

not worth the wait

By NorthJerseyGirl040 |

We went for Saturday morning brunch and were told we would have to wait an hour. I was willing to do that. It was the hour wait for the food that was unacceptable. This is a breakfast restaurant. Food should be fast. By the time the food came I was no longer hungry. No breakfast is worth a two hour wait.

Sunday brunch with a friend

By ppark0927 |

We visited this restaurant last Sunday. We arrived close to 11:00 and got in right away. Our waitress was fantastic and the food was excellent. If you like fried potatoes that are cut in chunks you will be estatic. They are nicely seasoned with a crisp outside but perfect inside. We ordered eggs with toast and potatoes. Excellent! I also ordered the bacon. Their bacon is thick cut and they made it crispy for me. We were both very happy.

Delicious

Every time I come to Philly on business we go to Day by Day for lunch and I have never been disappointed. The daily specials are fabulous. It’s definitely my favorite lunch spot. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic Brunch Spot

By Brad A |

This is definitely a hidden gem in Philadelphia. We picked this restaurant because of the location. We were not disappointed. Our waiter Raymond, was great. he was friendly, helpful and courteous. He did a great job answering our questions and bringing our food to us. It gets pretty crowded at Brunch, but it is well worth it. If you have one thing, you have to try the Peanut Butter stuffed Challah bread French Toast. It was outstanding. What a great spot for Brunch. I will be back.

Clueless waitress; Food okay

By Phyllis P |

I ordered a burger to go from this restaurant. I always wanted to try the food. I had a long wait and when the order was ready, she ignored the order and I had to ask her if it was my order. I gave her a tip and I am curious why she ignored the order and sat down after actually putting another order in a bag. The burger was burned. The tomato was all white except for the edges. It was inedible. The potatoes were okay.

Not sure what all the fuss is about

By Mec224 |

Everyone told me Day by Day is supposed to be great and the lines on the weekends seemingly attested to that. I finally went with my mom since we were meeting early on Saturday for brunch and there were no lines. I really didn't think it was very good. The place had zero atmosphere and the carpeting seemed out of place. The food was nothing to write home about. My potatoes were cold and the omelette I ordered, even though it had a lot of ingredients in it, tasted pretty bland. I wouldn't say the service was great either (more inattentive than bad though). There are so many great brunch places nearby, I would skip day by day in the future.

Fantastic brunch

By PhillyTraveler49 |

We had an excellent brunch Sunday at Day by Day. Everything on the menu looked great and everything we ate was really very, very good (especially the chorizo/sweet potato mash). We ordered a pastry basket to start. The owner's daughter is the pastry chef, and each item was phenomenal - she definitely knows her stuff.

Value worth going out of your way for

By CombsB65 |

At a conference in central Philly I was looking for a special place for lunch. I found reviews of this place and gave it a try. Walked through the neighborhood and found a gem. They obviously care about healthy options and fresh quality food, but they didn't sacrifice flavor or variety to get there. I am picky and I was not disappointed.

Fantastic brunch options

By dustythoughts |

This restaurant has great brunch options, from challah french toast to a variety of omelets. My omelet with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and goat cheese was divine, and the home fries had a nice, slight kick to them. It took a few minutes to get seated, since there was a line to pay at the cash register and there was no one to seat us. The cheesecake is amazing, although the cinnamon bun was only okay.

Best location to taste all of the foods in the Philly area

By G3760GOrichardm |

Day By Day has been here over 20 years All natural foods prepared daily.I mean really fresh No reservations is the only down But definitely worth the wait.So get their early. NO leftovers in the restaurant .They start with fresh every day.I love the banana bread french toast.Service is wonderful.friendly staff Everyone seems to be enjoying the job. I have had the privilege of attending a wedding they were catering. They definitely know what they are doing .Everything looked 1st class Ask for Robin she is the owner .This is all her creation She is wonderful and she is there every day they are open.Closes at 2 daily Does not serve dinner...But you will not need dinner because the portions are very big and after lunch at Day By Day you don't need dinner

Crowded, buzzy, fun place for brunch

By GlobalRebecca |

A friend recommended this place to me - I had never heard of it, but I love a small restaurant with a cult following. And this place definitely does! From what I understand, this place is really a catering kitchen for local businesses. I'm not sure when or why they started hosting their own brunch, but I'm glad they did. There are dozens of options for food, from classic breakfasts that include eggs and bacon to truly decadent sweet things. Unfortunately as a gluten-free eater, the options are limited - they are definitely pastry-heavy here. But I ordered a riff on huevos rancheros with pulled pork, tortilla chips, and stewed black beans - and it was delicious. You'll have to wait for a table, but it's definitely worth it.

Great Find!!

By kaybee1955 |

What a gem this restaurant is!! It's hard to find a place with brunch on Saturdays. My daughter and I went there last Saturday during a snow storm here. From the time we walked in the door, I felt the warmth of the staff right away. The menu has many great choices, and the food came out really quick, and my choice was delicious!!!! It was my daughter's birthday, and she was given a complimentary cinnamon bun! We will definitely be going back real soon!!

Enjoyed our visit

By PoppaP54 |

Two couples for breakfast on a cold, wet, windy Saturday morning. Our first visit there, while other couple with multiple visits. Arrived at opening time, so no wait, but by end of non-hurried breakfast, a dozen people waiting for seats. Adequately broad selection of items on menu, with some blackboard specials as well. We each followed our taste buds to differing entrees, and all enjoyed the fare. Special nod re: oatmeal and raisin pancakes and avocado toast. Coffee drinkers enjoyed the steaming hot beverage, while the tea drinkers were regrettably relegated to beverages not far above warm / hot. Disappointing for some. Wait staff was patient, friendly, and helpful. Portions reasonable, and prices, especially in view of location, quite fair.

Great for breakfast

By travelnow18 |

My boyfriend and i went here while staying in philly. Its a smaller restaurant and we were told 40 minutes as a wait when we got there. You didnt have to wait around for them to call your name--they texted us so we just walked down a few more blocks and got a cup of coffee while waiting. Only ended up having to wait 20 minutes. The food was good and service was awesome! Would def recommend!

Delicious and so fresh

By mscontradiction |

Had breakfast here twice and can't wait to go back. I had cholla French toast with fruit; hubby had a crab and asparagus omelette and he loved it. The restaurant is very clean, the service was good and I highly recommend it for breakfast or lunch.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G FOOD!

By tsn3 |

the food is absolutely to DIE for! i had the stuffed french toast and i'm still dreaming about it a month later! my husband had the feta/spinach omelet and it was heavenly. the restaurant is simple, no fancy tables/decor. the staff were very nice, but the food took about 30 minutes, which is quite a bit for a brunch.

First rate food in a casual neighborhood institution.

By Susan S |

Brunch on weekends are very busy (put your name down and go for a walk) but there is a reason: potato pancakes Benedict: smoked salmon, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce. Or maybe it is the root vegetable scramble or the freshly baked coffee cakes and muffins. Weekday lunches have an ever-changing but delicious menu too. Fresh fish, chicken, salads, stir fries. Friendly smiles from the waitstaff as well as the regulars.

Great Brunch

By ammerrihew |

Delicious pastries and wonderful breakfast options. Everything was fantastic. A wonderful little neighborhood place to have some great food.

Great brunch with different dishes

By Aaron P |

This spot doesn't only have your everday eggs/meat/toast combos but their roasted pork mexican tortilla breakfast and breakfast sandwich on croissant were out of this world. All very fresh, you need to see their daily specials and take whatever beautiful bounty they give you. Even though it was a great spot, it wasn't too crowded. Go for it!

Lunch or brunch - food is always consistently good

By CMCPhiladelphia_PA |

Day by Day is a no frills lunch (weekdays) brunch (weekends) restaurant that serves really good, freshly prepared food. I've eaten here at lunch but recently went for brunch and was not disappointed. I've never had anything that wasn't delicious and will be back.

Great brunch- lunch spot

By marshalldown |

Great fresh menu with lots of good food choices. Had the eggs Benedict... so good. Dessert choices were great. Nice little neighborhood charmer

GREAT brunch

By Deborah M |

GO early for brunch - like 10 minutes before it opens or else you’re likely to wait, since it fills up fast! Great freshly-baked goods and menu that has sweet, savory and a mixture of both. Will definitely be back.

Great weekend brunch

By tamarapepper |

Enjoyed breakfast here after a 5k run. Get there early because it fills up quickly. I saw couple , friends and families at neighboring tables and all seemed happy.

Unique luncheon spot

By Lsbtravel1 |

This place is part of a catering company and is only open for brunch and lunch. It has an interesting light menu with some regular items on a printed menu and the rest listed on a Blackboard with daily soups and specials. Table seating with reasonably prompt service and low prices. It is absolutely mobbed on Sunday for brunch with hoardes of students willing to wait an hour or more for an inexpensive but tasty meal. They don't take reservations

Sweetness!

By eater70 |

Stopped in for a bite near the Mutter museum. If there hadn’t been a wait, we’d have sat down because it looked so inviting. Grabbed a bagel, but Robin, the owner, gave me half of her warm Queen Amam. It was delicious! Buttery, flaky/chewy/tender... all goodness. As we stood at the counter, chatting, she told us about her kids so proudly. I enjoyed eating the creation of the family poet-baker and appreciated her warmth and generosity.

One Day Too Many

By Layne O |

We were promptly seated for Saturday brunch about noon. Our server initially was pleasant but not thorough. The brunch menu was extensive with lots of choices. Looking around, it appeared we were in for a treat. After a long wait, our food appeared out from under a heat lamp. The Eggs Florentine were perfectly cooked poached eggs over non-seasoned stringy spinach. The side breakfast potatoes were so over cooked, a fork could not puncture them. The biscuit was hard on the outside, not flakey, and dense inside. The Eggs Benedict were excellent but could have used more hollandaise. Again, the poached eggs were perfect. I've always thought there was no way to cook a potato that I wouldn't love, until I was served these. I should have ordered the huevos rancheros.

Just OK

By Nancy G |

We came here for lunch on a Tuesday. We called head to see if they served wine, and were told that we could bring our own wine. I ordered the chunky chicken salad with avocado and bacon on rye, and my husband ordered the grilled chicken with cheese and roasted red peppers on Italian bread. The grilled chicken sandwich was on the perfect bread. It was good. Both sandwiches came with a nice potatoe salad, which could have been cut in half size-wise and still be enough. My chunky chicken salad was ok. I ate it off of the bread because it was too thick to eat with the bread. I thought it could have used more seasoning. The service was good. We will not rush to go back here. Maybe we will try it for breakfast next visit.

Amazing Food and Atmosphere

By Abby M |

The food was DELICIOUS, the service was GREAT and the servers were so kind and helpful! Greg was such a sweet man who made me and my friends feel comfortable and were well cared for. He was a great host and we made fantastic conversation at the end of our meal and we left well fed and satisfied. I ordered the Tuscan omelet, scrambled, and it was very delicious, and the fact that it was vegetarian made it even better! The mango muffin was a delicious addition and was very well done! I truly loved my time here and will definitely come back with more friends and family! Best brunch place I've visited in Philly, period!

Lunch after the Mudder

By EllieShort |

Great lunch a few blocks from the Mudder museum. Quite frankly I didn't think I'd have an appetite after visiting the Mudder. But this fare was good an reasonable. My wrap was great and the coffee outstanding. My spouse had the quiche which was a daily special. Mushroom barley soup was not as thick as a deli, but don't hesitate.

Are you kidding

By eduonthego |

This place was well reviewed on other social media sites as a great place to eat. I visited for a late breakfast/brunch. They only do American coffee...are you kidding, invest in an espresso machine and a barista! I ordered two poached eggs and bacon. The bacon was so over cooked it broke. The eggs...you could hardly tell the yolks from the egg whites they were so insipid. The toast just ordinary sliced bread half cooked. I paid US$15 for the pleasure. Are you kidding!!

What to eat?

By Linda A |

The menu here was so interesting, I had a hard time deciding what to have. I think if I lived in Philadelphia I'd go to brunch at Day by Day every weekend to try more things. Delicious food, excellent service, fun atmosphere.

Great brunch menu!

We went here with friends for brunch in Philadelphia and were not disappointed. Plenty of vegetarian, some vegan, options and all the pastries and muffins are made on site. All of us loved our meals and we found the brunch menu to be contemporary, eclectic and very fairly priced (prices ranged from $8-$14 for most items) I would certainly go back for brunch another time!

Lunch, brunch and fabulous baked goods.

We love this place. the whole family loves this place--it is like home cooking if your mom was a great cook. At least 1/3 of the menu changes every day. Weekdays lunches have great stir fries and sandwiches and salads. Brunch has a Potato Pancake Smoked Salmon Benedict. It is a bit of a madhouse on weekends but happy people make it worth the wait.

The wait was worth it! The food was fantastic here and worth waiting for. Queues down the street but quick turn around. Our brunch was awesome!

Delicious breakfast, varied, original and creative menu

By Ellen2006 |

This might actually be the best breakfast I've had. The menu is quite varied and original, with the basics as well as many creative, delicious-sounding choices. I had the crab, gruyere and asparagus scramble which was delicious, as well as a side of fresh fruit, which often can be iffy but in this case was truly fresh and tasty. It also came with a buttermilk biscuit which was unlike any buttermilk biscuit I have ever had. I could barely eat half of it because it was just too much food, but I really did enjoy as much as I could. My husband had oatmeal raisin pancakes, which I sampled, and they were delicious. The service was fine. It took about 25 minutes for me to get decaf - we arrived when they opened and they had to "brew a fresh pot" but it still seemed a bit much to wait nearly a half hour. Our food came reasonably promptly so I would say the service was average. It is very popular so get there early or plan to wait. We arrived when it opened at 9:30 so had no problem getting a table, but if you arrive at 10 or later, expect to wait. I would definitely come here again.

Nice for a business lunch

We went for a business lunch. It is small, quiet and pleasant. We could talk business and hear each other The service was prompt and efficient. The food was good as it should have been. Because it served its purpose, I can recommend it for you.

Great little lunch stop

I have eaten here several times with business associates and have never had a bad meal. Their soups are excellent and I have recently had their chicken stir fry and also their salmon teriyaki which both were very good. Friendly place with service being very good. Prices are moderate and it’s a great little place to enjoy a meal.

Nice place to grab lunch...

Nice place to grab lunch near work. Great sandwiches.

I sampled my families dishes - all good

Delish brunch menu. the Tiramisu stuff french toast ordered by my son - was worth the trip to the restaurant. The wait time was a bit long and seemed not as smooth or quick as promised. The host was apologetic. My LEO omelette was good - not remarkable. The choices were well varied and included a vegan omelette if desired. I would try this restaurant again .

Don't leave Philly without trying the Sweet Potato Chorizo Hash!

By vblocalguy |

This is a cute little sidestreet cafe in a bustling part of Philly. I went one morning recently while visiting friends and fell in love with the sweet potato chorizo hash! Service was a little slow, but the value and quality of the food we received was well worth the wait!

Terrific for breakfast

We got to this restaurant when it opened because we didn't want to wait in line and we were seated immediately. The restaurant is unassuming-looking but the French toast was fabulous. The service was very good. Would definitely return on my next trip to Philadelphia.

enormous breakfasts and brunch

No reservations taken. so wait a bit. But it is worth it. Huge interesting menu items, quite reasonable ($10-12 for an entrée). We liked the lemon mascarpone stuffed French toast w berries. A tower of food, crazy. And the interesting omelettes and pastries. Many people are regulars there, if they life close by; why not? They are not open for dinner.

A great brunch

A really delicious meal, with all sorts of unusal choices on the menu, including the most amazing pumpkin French toast. We went on a Sunday for brunch - it's a good idea to get there early, as it's very popular. We had a wait of about 20 minutes, but once we were seated we got served very quickly, and didn't have to wait long for our food. Just as well, a we had a plane to catch! Prices weren't cheap, but reasonable.

amazing food, mediocre service

Living 3 blocks away, we came here occasionally for brunch. I have nothing but good to say about their food, but their service could have some improvement. In fact, we only came here for food (which I would rate 5 star) instead of the enjoyable interactions that you could have with servers in a restaurant. For the visits we've had, it took 5-10 minutes for a server to get us water and ask for beverage options. It would take even longer for him/her to come back to take food order. They do not refill your coffee unless you ask for it, which is disappointing because no one wants to spend a sunday morning brunch time asking for coffee refill rather than chat with friends. But to be fair, the items are reasonable priced compared to other brunch places in center city, and they are delicious. If you can bear with the service, day by day is not a bad choice.

Awesome brunch!

Four of us went for brunch on a Sunday. The menu choices are different, creative and excellent!! They go way beyond your traditional boring brunch choices. We brought a bottle of champagne with us to celebrate a birthday, and happily drank mimosas while commenting on the delicious food. Don't miss it!

Yummy brunch

By Corinne B |

This is a popular brunch spot. I had a salmon omelet with a biscuit on the side. Biscuit was a "northern biscuit" (dry) so I suggest toast or English muffin. My husband had eggs and bacon and we also ordered a basket of pastries. Delicious and an excellent value at $10. We took most of the items home. Very good coffee. Efficient and friendly service.

Start Your Day Here!

Great locally owned restaurant that serves Breakfast, Brunch, and Lunch. Our son loved the Sweet Potato Hash. Our daughter who lives in Philly had the Huevos Rancheros again! I had a brunch special, which was medium fried eggs served over ham and lightly toasted corn bread. We can't wait to come back and try the French Toast. The menu boasts a great array of hearty, original Breakfast offerings. Service was outstanding.
