Ricardo and Paula are EXCELLENT bartenders and will take care of you with drinks and dinner. The food was great and they elevated it to fantastic. Ask Ricardo to make you an espresso martini. And shout out to the bar back Habid (spelling?) for working hard to keep up with the busy evening.

The atmosphere was conducive to a business dinner. The barrel cut filet was amazing and the old school cocktails were classy. The staff was professional and attentive. We were able to walk in on a Thursday evening without a reservation but had to sit in the bar area. Recommend a reservation.

Surprised at how great the food was. We didn’t have a reservation and we’re still able to have dinner. The food was cooked perfectly. Receptionist recommended this restaurant and said the steak was good but very pricey and that we should try other dishes. We did and were satisfied. The atmosphere is elegant (you could dress up if you wanted to)

Visited Dean’s three times on a long weekend trip at the J.W. Marriott Austin. Fantastic service and food! Be sure to have the Crab Cake, Billionaire potato and Bread pudding were the absolute best I have ever had and believe me, I’ve tried a few others.

What a great experience. The food and service were both outstanding. Special shout out to GM Sarah, servers TJ, Siera, Alex, and check in person Anna. Each of you made our visit extra special. We highly recommend and will definitely return. Drs. Mark and Michele

This is an attractive restaurant in the Marriott hotel on the ground floor level. You can sit on the outside terrace or inside where it is dark during the day but also more attractive. Quite a loud music system so ask if you want to be somewhere quieter. Food is of a high quality - expensive but good quality meat. We partly came to this Marriott to see the bar where Ultimatum was filmed (!) but it turns out that this was done at the other Marriott just down the road who kindly let us take some photographs. We noticed that this Marriott had escalators to the 4th floor which may be helpful for people like me who don't use elevators.

We were staying in the JW Marriott and did not feel like going out so we checked into Dean's for Happy Hour and that was such a terrific experience we decided to stay for dinner. At Happy Hour we had two terrific ladies that not only made excellent drinks but provided top notch service as well. Our server at dinner was a lovely lady named Key. She took exceptional care of us and we all had wonderful meals. Absolutely the best service. A note here as well for the staff that assisted her - impeccable service. I have a bad foot which makes it difficult for me to walk - when we had finished our dinner I wanted to stop at the bar for a nightcap and so I was hobbling in that direction, when someone grabbed my arm and said, "lean on me". It was Key - she was helping me to the bar - my wife and daughter were so impressed as was I. WOW - talk about first class service! Dean's will definitely be on our list on our next trip to Austin. FANTASTIC!! Everything about this dinning experience was fantastic! The service was top notch. The atmosphere was great. The food was amazing! We didn't have a reservation, but there was a table for two in the "bar area" and they sat us right away. We had cocktails in our hands seamlessly, and the appetizers were GREAT! The meal it's was again a top notch course of food. I can not recommend this place enough. I would 100% go back.

High end steakhouse that rivals the best. Wine pricing is reasonable. Home cooked bread was the best. Steaks were well done. Asparagus were not overcooked. Ice cream dessert was perfect for sharing. .

Came to celebrate a 30th birthday. It was a very busy and loud restaurant for sure. Make sure to make reservations especially on the weekends. I actually picked this restaurant because they had pasta and steaks since one of our guests was a vegetarian. Have to say we had a wonderful server who took his time to make our meal special. I made a note on my reservation that it was my daughter’s birthday and they had a card waiting for her at our table. All our food was cooked perfectly. And the desserts of bread pudding and tiramisu topped off the evening.

Weekday dinner at Dean’s was a great choice. One of the things that we loved was how the restaurant isn’t extremely noisy, and the tables don’t feel on top of one another. Staff is knowledgeable, helpful with all the menu items. It took some time for our meal but we knew that the final product wasn’t meeting approval. Therefore, it was fixed before even making it to the table. Food tasted great as it was worth the wait.

Service was outstanding! Lexie was perfect: friendly and attentive with excellent advice but also gave us our space when needed. The food was hit-and-miss: My branzino was one of the best I’ve ever had and the mushrooms were a perfect touch, but the pasta was overcooked and broccolini under cooked.

Definitely go here for dinner in Austin! One of the best places I have been to in recent memory. Food, staff, service and ambience. All excellent!

As first time Texas visitors, one of our primary dining goals was lone star steaks. We were staying at the JW Marriott wherein Dean’s Steakhouse is located, so it seemed easy enough to get a good steak without leaving the hotel. This might have been a mis-steak. We had a 7:15 reservation but arrived to check in around 7:00. We didn’t expect to be seated 15 min early, but we also didn’t expect to be dismissed and given attitude. The hostess told us to go out to the lobby bar and made a snide comment about how our reservation wasn’t until 7:15. We went to the lobby bar, asked for a certain Pinot Noir and the bartender told us “we don’t have that” and ghosted us without giving us a chance to order a different wine. At 7:15 we went back to the hostess, then they let us stand there for 10 minutes without any update. We could see several tables empty and they finally decided to let us sit at one of them. The waiter was attentive but also kind of snobby. He seemed annoyed that we already had wine from the lobby bar, which we were told to go to…..by his hostess. We were ordering apps, wine, big steaks, sides, etc. yet we felt as if we were inconveniencing them by dining there. As far as the food was concerned, it was fine. The steaks were good, sauces were quite good (really liked the romesco) and the sides were good. Nothing was outstanding or made us want to tell friends how great Texas steaks are, but I wouldn’t complain either. I’d the service would have been the least bit welcoming the review would be much different.

The food was VERY good, our server was great and helped us to customize our order for a vegetarian and picky pre-teen. Husband had a bone in something or other (says the vegetarian). Daughter had a truffle pasta that was really good! Other daughter had a customized spaghetti and meat sauce. I had twice baked potato and the mushrooms, very good. We all shared, all very good. We had the beef tomato caprese type salad, the wedge, and the Italian Salad minus the meat, and all really good, I highly recommend those salads. Everything was great, we will definitely go back. Also great wine selection. Everyone very helpful and friendly, people smile and speak to you when they walk by. I recommend.

Service was really good, over the top actually. However there are so many people serving the table I think they get confused who is doing what, as we didn’t get any bread despite it being hyped up by the server when we arrived. Salads and deserts were great. However all meat dishes we ordered had too much fat and gristle, even the wagyu. It wasn’t as expected. Potatoes were served cool. We noted it was a birthday in the reservation, the server had no idea. Not a big deal, but at this price point it should be something they pay attention to.

We were here during the recent ice storm. The restaurant was packed but plenty of staff to handle the crowd. Such a variety of choices! My husband enjoyed tone of his favorite appetizers—-bone marrow. The lobster bisque is delicious. Scallops were terrific. Great dessert choices! What a treat!

Attentive service; high quality food - huge shrimp cocktail; tasty king crab; bread was fantastic and the petite filet steak was excellent. The Carmel ice cream dessert was a work of art. Highly recommend the Donati Cabernet - smooth and nice accompaniment to the steak. Best meal I’ve had in Austin. Highly recommend 👍👍

Everything here exceeded our expectations and was a great experience. I had a wonderful old fashioned, made properly and oh so good. Highly recommend the onion soup. It’s usually really too salty for my tastes, but this soup is PERFECT. FSalads, Parker house mouse made rolls, steak- all 200% perfection. Wagyu bolognese is so good, never had succulent beef with such pure flavor. Clean, very well spaced, excellent service, top notch experience. We found this restaurant to be more wallet friendly than others as well, yet exceeds the bar on quality. Highly recommended.

What a brilliant restaurant. All the staff were incredibly attentive to our needs. Server Oliver recommended some great wine and did a fantastic job throughout the evening. As expected the steaks were cooked to perfection. What I didn’t expect, and I would really recommend is ‘Dean’s Smoked Manhattan’ and also the Bone Marrow. Finally, a great mix of younger and older customers. Really nice vibe!

Everyone was genuinely attentive, cheerfully content, and friendly. Dean's has an elegant, relaxing atmosphere and comfortable setting. Everything we ordered had a satisfyingly rich taste. Excellent service and food. It was a memorable experience! A perfection from start to finish.

Our meal was PHENOMENAL!! From the bread to the apps to the Wagu steaks! We left in an absolute food coma!! Our server was exceptional…I am sad I can’t recall his name right now. We Will be dining here again next time we visit Austin!!!

We've been wanting to go here since the opened. Located at the JW downtown. Some great seating options, including wonderful booths! Service was excellent, some of the best in Austin. We had a LOT of food. It was all excellent to amazing. The dry aged Ribeye's were awesome, the Tomahawk was wonderful, the bone barrow, Madagascar shrimp - all excellent. Heck even the bread was great. We loved it all. Bring your check book or better yet someone else's!

An absolute must Dine if you are on Austin TX. CANDACE and DARIO made this experience great. Very clean and extremely delicious. Fantastic customer service and a really cool experience. Enjoy, Much love ❤️

Had been wanting a great steakhouse experience for several months and decided to return to Dean's. We had previously been there about 3 years earlier and the entire experience was wonderful. Once again, we enjoyed an amazing meal along with several old fashions and very much appreciated the attentive service of Arianna. Would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to another trip there in the near future.

We had no idea what to expect from this restaurant but couldn’t be more impressed and pleased. The service is top notch and the food was fantastic. The meals were served hot and timely. Portions were on the larger side. The atmosphere was perfect for an October evening as we ate outside. Our waitress Amy was perfect.

Folks - if you’re from Austin or out of town, come here for a great dining experience! The steak tartare is beyond words! Rich and meaty! The tuna crudo hits every sense! Wine list is impressive and easy to decipher. Our waiter, Oscar, was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. We’ll be back!

Excellent from start to finish and everything in between. The staff are amazing, the food is really on point. We had a wonderful time and will return when in Austin.

Well decorated with nice terrace. Extensive menu of meats and seafood plus Italian options. I tasted the pasta with truffle and it was very good. They have fresh bread and good desserts. The wine list is extensive for U.S. wines but limited for international wines. Good and friendly service.

Great place for a business meal or for any special occasion. Excellent food and service, whether at the bar or a table. Also, an incredible bourbon selection! Recently had a complete meal at the bar, attentive waitstaff.

Maybe I should have ordered something other than chicken but I didn't. Ordered chicken piccata and was expecting the light buttery lemon sauce but it was brown sauce, a bit too salty and heavy imo. Mashed potatoes - have had better. Rolls looked better than they tasted. Husband had a steak and said his was very good.

3-some for a business dinner. Split a beet salad which had a nice dressing and was very good. Also ordered 2 prawns for an appetizer, which are Very large so, if you like smaller shrimp, this isn't it, but it you like them large, you'll be grinning! Dinner bread is very good. Pesto ravioli was great. Filet 8-oz was super, and had super side of mashed potatoes in a humongous baked skin with an excellent truffle flavor and truffle slivers on top ("Billionaires potato"). Spicy Shrimp Strozzapreti was also outstanding. No room for dessert, tho expect that would have been fantastic too. Outstanding attention by staff to our needs.

The service, the food, the ambiance all were perfect. We went there to celebrate my son's engagement. Honestly I could not have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend!

My wife and I had a poor dinner while staying at the JW Marriott. Oysters very poorly shucked no liquor and shell pieces everywhere Bucatini pasta too heavy. Wow they must have used 1LB of butter. Failed dish. Charred broccolini. So tough we could have used a hammer to cut it. Bread pudding swimming in butter. This is the last place you should visit if you don’t want a filet, prime something or a $100 slab of beef. Servers work really hard, but I think they know this restaurant is a loser on the food side. Lastly the restaurant was busy at 9pm on a Wednesday in August …perhaps it’s the meat thing.

I ordered the Short Rib Gnocchi ($35.00): Red wine braised short rib, rosemary, and Gorgonzola cream. The short ribs were tasty, but unfortunately the gnocchi really brought the dish down. They were large, thick, tough, and dense, with a chewy texture that felt more like compacted bread dumplings than proper gnocchi. They would have been too dense for even bread dumplings. It made the dish heavy and hard to enjoy. For the price, I expected much better execution. I wouldn’t order this again unless the gnocchi recipe changes.

While in Austin at a conference April of 2025 we were able to experience Dean's Italian steakhouse. The food was absolutely amazing. The fresh bread, delicious steaks, wedge salad and Yukon Gold potatoes were absolutely mouth watering. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was beautiful. Will definitely go again when in Austin.

Great service. Pecan manhattan cocktail was too sweet. Burrata and gnocchi were delicious. The Parker rolls were hot and buttery. Nice, dark interior for dinner.

I was positively surprised by Dean's. I never expect great things from restaurants inside hotels. The service was spot on, and the food was actually great. The NY strip was cooked to perfection.

Nice, romantic setting with excellent service and delicious fine dining food. Wonderful way to end our trip to Austin, with a great experience at Dean's. Thank you for a wonderful night and treating us with such great customer service!
Excellent Father's Day Treat
This was an exceptional restaurant serving both steak and Italian fresh pasta options. I started with a Bullet Rye Manhattan (straight up) and it was so good, I ordered another. We opted for the pasta to keep the cost down a bit and because we enjoyed Terry Black's BBQ the night before. We started with the Bone Marrow appetizer and it was, well, unusual, served on huge beef bones. Good for a one time try. We also split some excellent salads. A couple of us ordered Wagyu Bolognese and it really hit the spot. We ended up boxing some for home. For some reason, the otherwise excellent server left off the Charred Broccolini but it didn't show up on the check so we didn't need to call attention to it.
