Very decent for the price point - a bit heavy on sauces

By Kleisthenis |

Quite nice - good variety and decently (but not cheap) priced. Very nice for takeaways. They do nice buy 1 get 1 free offers as well.

Trendy sushi spot

By H777 |

My colleague recommended this place as he had come with a large group and enjoyed their sushi boats. Our group of 4 had a reservation for 7pm on Saturday evening, good thing as it was full and people were waiting for tables. We started with miso soup and salads for appetizers. One person had the octopus salad, which actually was pre-made squid salad that you can buy at a local grocery store on a bit of seaweed salad. I ordered the Salmon Skin salad which ended up being strips of deep dried overcooked salmon skin over a bed of seaweed salad and cucumbers...given the price tags of these salads, not impressed, do not order! We ordered the mid-sized sushi boat which had salmon sashimi, 4 types of basic nigiri (tuna, salmon, whitefish & shrimp) and about 6 kinda of fun and basic rolls. Sushi boat was definitely delicious and fun to order. Rolls were not too heavy and good sizes. It was just about the right amount of food for 4 people. Service was great, staff was friendly and decor of place was neat. Not a great place for a business meeting because of the high noise level (due to design of place), but certainly a fun place to have sushi with friends and in the trendy Ellum Street area. Parking was available directly across street at the prep school parking lot for $10, lot monitored by a nice gent by the name of Francis. Check this place our for funky rolls and a fun atmosphere!

Great sushi in Dallas

Took a walk from downtown Dallas to this little sushi shop, based on the previous reviews I read here. What a great place! Great sushi, good service and quality sushi! Will come again.

Best weekday lunch special. And good!

Sushi for all!

By TAP1314 |

A Deep Ellum staple this place offers decent sushi at a decent price. Nothing will blow your socks off, but it also won't let you down.

Service was meh, food was worth it

By Mjam4 |

Went to Deep Sushi on a very busy Saturday night. There was a wait for a table, but we were able to get seats at the sushi bar immediately so we snagged those! Servers worked as quickly as possible but were disorganized and looked visibly stressed- we did not receive one of the items we ordered and had to correct it with our server when she included it on our bill. That said, food came out very quickly and was all delicious. We opted for the Yellowtail Heaven appetizer, a variety of spicy rolls, and eel and topiko sashimi. Everything was SO flavorful and super fresh- my husband said the eel was some of the best he's ever had. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. We will definitely be back, but we'll try to come on a weeknight when maybe they're not so slammed.

Delicious Sushi in Deep Ellum Area

Excellent service and very flavorful sushi dishes. This place is near many night life bars if you crave some after dinner entertainment.

Great dinner and great variety on the menu

By FlyinSOB |

Four of us had dinner here and everything was great. They have a good variety on their menu, have gluten free options, and ever carry Ashai Dark Beer for us stout drinkers (the beer, not the drinkers). Outside dining available also.

Yummy sushi, cute area

By Gabriella W |

I was in town for business and my coworker who lives in this area took me out one night to show me the town. We decided on dinner at Deep Sushi in the area called Deep Ellum. The restaurant is a small, intimate location, with both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside, in a covered patio area that was air conditioned. The waitstaff were friendly but we did sit waiting for what seemed like a bit too long when we first got seated. After that, the attentiveness of the waitstaff improved. We had sushi and sashimi both of which were fresh and tasty. We also tried an appetizer called the Tuna Tower I believe, and it was really delicious. All the good flavors I want in my sushi. They have a bar, and a sushi bar as well. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. The atmosphere of the restaurant was hip and artsy. Deep Ellum as a whole has the same vibe, and it's an enjoyable experience.

Great lunch special, very good sushi

By Greg C |

I had lunch here with a couple business colleagues. Very well-prepared sushi, fair price. Attentive waiter who was unobtrusive. I will come back.

Nice spot in a funky area

By JoppaMama |

Deep Ellum is a fun area to wander around in. Lots of good looking food options. The sushi here was super fresh. The list of sushi rolls was overwhelming, And in a panic, I opted for one of the lunch special sushi plates - good & fresh, but the presentation was sorely lacking. My two sons got Bento boxes with salmon teriyaki. Once those arrived, I regretted my food choice immediately. Theirs was beautifully presented, and had a little of everything, including California Rolls and two pieces of sushi. If I lived nearby, I'd give it another try

Great variety of rolls

By Russell M |

Went twice while in Dallas. Great variety of rolls, although a couple may be by a different name than you are used to. I'd strong recommend the cherry blossom and volcano. Both different takes and quite good. Nice decor and atmosphere. Good service.

Great place to eat!

Love Deep Sushi. Consistently good and great service. They also have a terrific happy hour - I highly recommend it.

Hopping place in Deep Ellum

By sharon31784 |

Restaurant has added a nice covered patio area which is nice when the weather is decent. Parking is not easy in that area, but it's worth the time to search for a space! The food, service & ambiance are very good!

Food good, staff could be better

By Dennis J |

We dined in Deep Sushi on the night of the May 15th, with the outskirts of tornado's hitting Dallas. Hail stones as big as eggs fell down and the restaurant was almost covered with a curtain of rain. Quite the ambiance :-). We ordered sushi as starters and those were excellent (both the rolls as well as the nigri). The chicken en beef teppanyaki were both excellent also. The prices were also "right". The staff was very friendly, but also very inexperienced. They served one main course together with the starters and forgot to take the orders for the entrees of my two companions. But he, we had to wait for the storm to pass over, so we didn't mind :-).

Excellent

By austinclamon |

This is by far the best sushi I have had in Dallas! We went for Valentine's Day so the service was a bit slow, but that was to be expected. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants quality sushi in Dallas.

AMAZING SUSHI!

By Ryan Fitz |

Was pleasantly surprised after having one of the best sushi experiences in my life here at deep sushi! I've had sushi from al over the world & deep would be in my top 5 sushi I've ever had. Cool environment, (music a little loud at times) and a diverse clientele from families, casual friends to business. Highly recommend you go!

Best Sushi in Deep Elum

By Illusionsphotog |

Tuna Tower is to die for! Shrimp tempura and vegetables were very good although portions were small. We only had two shrimp and about 5 pieces of vegetables for $16. Delicious but would like a bit more for the money. The rolls were very good and reasonably priced, especially loved the Fantasy Roll. Yum~

Excited server, exciting sushi

By imskimmy |

Our server was fantastic. She made the experience that much more enjoyable. We were looking for a dinner that would be on the lighter side after eating the heavy-style Texas food. We were looking for a salad/veggie place but there wasn't much of that going on in the Deep Ellum area so we opted for sushi. There were a lot of great roll options with a lot of variety to fit every taste and preference. With three women, we shared 2 salads and 3 rolls. The server was very attentive and helpful. The area is nice to walk around, but only up to so far - when you start going 3-4 blocks away from the busier areas it feels very empty and a little unsafe to be alone/isolated.

Excellent place and good...

Excellent place and good food!!

Birthday

By shemimi2020 |

Made a reservation for a very early 5:30-6:00p dinner, got there no reservation, told it was birthday, nothing special at all was done, and in fact sat us next to the station where the incoming shift were all chatting (I counted 12 people) and joking and hanging out with their butts basically in our faces. The waiter served our appetizer AFTER our entrees were served and we asked about our salads which he replied “oh I forgot them, do you want them now?” This was all on top of a $125 bill. Needless to say tip wasn’t that big and I did speak to the Mgr which just made excuses about it being a new shift coming in yadada. Not my problem! However, food was delicious. And btw there were only about 4 other tables of patrons. No excuse for this.

Review from a Sushi critic

By audigeek |

My first impression was that this was a club and that more bar visitors pop in for mediocre fish. My verdict is just ok not great but not bad either. Ginger was pink versus the pure real stuff and always a red flag. The fish was good , portion size fair, service excellent but for official sushi experience or authenticity look elsewhere

The Place for Sushi

By lovefood |

My friend and I walked in on a crowded Friday night. The place was packed, but we were quickly seated at the sushi counter and a waiter greeted us right away. The waiter was so attentive and had a great personality as well! I wish I remembered his name, because he truly went above and beyond! My friend and I ordered multiple drinks and a HUGE amount of sushi as well. We were hungry and craving sushi. I feel like for the amount of food I ordered it was a great price. The sushi was incredible and we tried some nigiri, with fresh salmon from Alaska, which was incredible! It came with quite a few pieces of the nigiri for us to split. I honestly can't wait to return here. It was delicious and the service and value is unbeatable.

Good variety

By J C |

This is a decent place to try a variety of sushi rolls. It's small, but most restaurants like this are that small. There are plenty of servers and it did not take long to get our food. If you are downtown and in the mood for sushi, try it!

Best Sushi Consistently

By Cheryl S |

This is my favorite Sushi Restaurant in Dallas. The food is consistently good and the prices are very reasonable. My favorite roll is Love at First Bite but there are several close seconds! The staff make the place enjoyable. I always look forward to going back!

First class Restaurant

By Brandon P |

I have a severe allergy to MSG. We called the restaurant before arriving to make sure I would be safe with ordering. Not only did they answer all our questions, but they sent pictures of ingredients to my phone!!! Unbelievable service for one simple customer. The food was great, customer service was presidential. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone with allergies. They will go out of their way to help you.

Sushi in Deep Ellum

By metntex |

Atmosphere - has the Deep Ellum vibe going on, but kind of cramped. Service - took a while for waitress to come by then she dropped off water for everyone then left without taking a drink order. Took a while to come back to get our drink order. Give me a drink then take all the time you want serving me. This was reflected in the tip. Checked on us a few times during the meal. Cleanliness - bathroom was clean. Food - pretty good. Had a number of rolls and several types of sashimi. All were good. Value - about $30 per person with drinks so not bad. Would we go back? Probably.

Go for the sushi

By flrelax10 |

Ok I admit I do not eat sushi so this wasn't my pick...it's in a grungy part of Dallas but it's really busy for a reason. My friends all had sushi and said it was amazing and the rolls are huge for the price. I had a combo stir fry and it was blah didn't really eat it. Go for the sushi, if you don't eat it don't waste your time.

Dallas

Great sushi! Started with Hawaiian tuna appetizer. Finished with cherry blossom roll, red dragon, green goblin, and cerviche rolls. Had the citrus smash to drink, will pass next time, tasted like iced water with fruit. Good service.

Good Sushi in Deep Ellum

By JorjaSmith |

We love coming to this place when we're feeling something light after a day brewery hopping in Deep Ellum. Service can be a little hit or miss, but the rolls are always fresh and delicious. They have great happy hour too.

sushi review

By Krissypoo73 |

Took advise from another reviewer to eat here and boy was I glad I did! Service by Mimi was excellent. Very helpful choosing from the menu. Lots of fresh choices. Great ambiance. Resturant was alittle small but we went early so no issues there. They open at 5 on the weekend. Area was not the best as there is construction and redevelopment in this eclectic area. Well worth the trip. Highly recommended!

Go for the sushi the entrees take FOREVER

By flrelax10 |

This was my second time to deep sushi, artsy/sketchy area of downtown Dallas...several homeless outside panhandling. We were sat in a separate room which likes an addition, and wow the acoustics were horrible it was so loud! The sushi is the real draw here (I don't eat sushi so I get entrees instead) Apps: edamame is good, pork gyoza are amazing, and the noodle dish with chicken. Sushi: my friends said amazing Entrees: well since my friends were totally done with their sushi and almost an hour later I still hadn't been served my entree, I would say it's not worth it. (Mind you this happened when I went a few years ago, I guess no one ever orders entrees). We literally had to find someone to complain to so that I would get my food Wine: get the bottle, my friend ordered red by the glass and no joke spit out a fly we were mortified. I guess my suggestion go for sushi and a bottle of wine and maybe apps but wouldn't be my first choice for sure

Cool place

By smyers39 |

We celebrated my daughters 30th bDay here. Food selection was good ,food was good and waiter was very helpful with the menu.

I've been going to this place for years!

By K8eros |

I love Deep Sushi! I've been going here since the 90's and the service and quality of their fish is always amazing!

Great Find

By Donna B |

Amazing sushi, fun presentation. We had a great dinner here. Seems like one of the few non-pretentious sushi places around. Yum!

In town for a race

By Brandi B |

Picked a few restaurants based on reviews and Deep sushi was one of them. The area of this restaurant is super cute & lots of action. We came in around 530 on a rainy fri night and had no wait. The food was great. Tried a bunch of rolls and even requested a rainbow roll without the rice and it was no problem. Very good experience and we would come back.

Great Sushi - reasonable for lunch!

By Greenvilledan |

My daughter loves Sushi! We have eaten at the best sushi places (per the reviews in New York and in Dallas) and this is a hidden gem. Beautiful atmosphere, with a cool bar as you walk in, window seats, a large room on the side for groups, and a smaller sushi bar at the rear. I am used to paying through the nose for sushi, but my daughter suggested this place for lunch. We started with delicious spring rolls (5 for $5.00). Wonderful! I ordered the teppen yaki beef (great for meat eaters). Delicious and plenty if you are not into sushi. My wife ordered the sushi sampler ( three different spicy rolls for $15.00). The presentation was beautiful and the variety and flavors were heavenly. My daughter ordered a variety of sashimi for around $15.00. Unbelievable! The flavor was incredible. Everything we had was fresh! The value at Deep Sushi was outstanding for this high quality meal. I strongly recommend it. The service was good and the servers were friendly.

Nice lunch

By Johannes Gutenberg |

About average. Food was nice and service very friendly. It’s a bit off the beaten path and perhaps I was expecting more of a city atmosphere.

Great deep ellum restaurant.

By Chloe F |

My husband and I have eaten here twice and we love their sushi. Small romantic restaurant that it's great for a date night or a night out with friends.

A low-key, great service, yummy sushi, my kind of place!

By Kbyn1184 |

I went to deep sushi one night with my mom and my 2 month old! They waitress was very sweet even ask if she could hold my daughter! The lighting was low, the music was quite, the service was fast, the cocktails were cold! What more could you ask for? Would be perfect for girls night or dinner with you main squeeze if your looking for something that not a chain but an personable, kick back and have great convo kind of place! Please try it out! (It's was an early dinner around 5/6 so I don't know if it gets crowded)

Flavor goes Deep

By Bearded Delight |

Deep Sushi is one of the best Sushi bars we've been to in Dallas. Hailing from the West Coast we hold our sushi in high regard and Deep Sushi is one of the closest we've came to home. The tuna is fresh and the staff is friendly.

Flying solo Dallas trip

By David L |

What can I say what a place, great food, good service in a great little area definitely worth a look. Granted it was a Monday evening and wasn’t super busy got a seat at the sushi bar straight away, went for the black widow sushi roll and some appetizers. Definitely will go back next time I’m in town

Two for one is very misleading

By bradandsheri |

A group of my co-workers went to Deep Sushi today because of the 2 for 1 sushi special. When it came time to receive the bill there weren't any deletions and then she explained that they just double whatever you order on the sushi menu. Which would be fine if it was explained. When we asked her anything, she seemed annoyed and we aren't a high maintenance group! So you pay $5 for 4 rolls of sushi instead of 2. Very bad value and horrible service. I will not be going back. If any of you are looking for sushi in Dallas- try Zen in Bishop Arts. I like that and RA.

Great spot

By Alaster83 |

This was not a planned visit but turned into a great date night! I'm a Plain Jane and love a great California roll and they delivered ! They have the best crab mix - ever . Husband had rainbow roll with jalapeños ( at the advice of our waitress ) and it was a great choice as well . The Sake is great , the strawberry and mango saketini , miso soup are all excellent. Even the sushi rollers were personable or maybe they are trained to up-sell because they almost had us sold on more food ! Great spot with , several TVs . We can't wait to go back !

Good Sushi in Deep Ellum

By texasgirlandboy22 |

Okay, so I have to laugh, if you know ANYTHING about Deep Ellum, its SUPPOSED to be quirky/artsy...that's what makes Deep Ellum, Deep Ellum--a great "city within a city" in Dallas, Texas. With that said, we had dinner at Deep after a day of "State Fairing" and truly enjoyed our meal. The food was fresh and our server was excellent. If you are more worried about whether someone is "dressed to the nines" to meet you at the door, than the food, this is not your place. If you're looking for come as you are, have a great time, be accepted by all and while at it, eat some pretty good sushi, THIS IS YOUR CHOICE.

Great Bento Box and Sushi

By Lacy33 |

Stopped in for lunch and it was wonderful! Chicken Bento Box with Tuna Sushi sub'd for regular shrimp and salmon (at minimal charge) along with four pieces of California Roll couldn't have been better! Craving it again.

Best Sushi in Dallas!

By Cathy M |

This place is AWESOME! It's the best sushi in Dallas. They have a wide selection of sushi. Weather you like raw fish or not there is something there for you. A must try if you are in Dallas.

Worth the Drive for Sushi

By SunnyTex |

Small venue with a laid back atmosphere in historic Deep Ellum. You know it's a great establishment when it can survive all the changes that this area has gone through. With the improved parking available now, this is a great option for those who need to drive. The sushi is fresh and the service is great. Love the Red Dragon Lady roll and the Texas Spirit roll!

Terrible service and just ok food

By amaack1 |

The vibe was nice. The service was 2/10. The waiter forgot our appetizer and at some point forgot we were even there. The sushi sat on the counter for 20 minutes before he brought it to us. He brought our iced teas with NO ice??? He never asked if we needed a refill on drinks, or anything else for that matter. We spent 1 1/2 hours there and had to ask for the check. Once he brought the check, I had to ask him to clear some of the plates and other items from the table so I had room to sign my ticket. DON'T waste your time here. There is too much to choose from in the area!

One could easily walk by

By C G |

This little gem is nestled in the Deel Ellum neighborhood. I recommend reservations, as it fills up quickly and for good reason. Fresh food and good service, with good drinks. Totally worth the price of admission. The octopus and seaweed salad was very fresh and tasty and they did not skimp on the octopus. The sushi and rolls were good. Try to Cherry Blossom roll, it was yummy. Definitely, a must visit on my next trip, to try more of the different options.

YUM

By courtcaton |

This is our favorite sushi restaurant. My husband and I come to Dallas from Oklahoma city once or twice a year and I'll be damned if we don't go to Deep Sushi! The first time we ever went the special was the Black Sea roll...OMG!!!!!!! Now when we go we order maybe 3 of them, and yes we spend $100 if not more, on sushi alone!!! You must go to this place!

Good food, nice place

By Mr G |

I am not a sushi person. Only eat that when nothing else is around. But forced to go by two young people. Trapped. Couldn't get out. Looked like many places in Deep Ellum. Casual, lively, music, crowded, young. It was nice. Unlike other nearby places, only one draft beer. But lots of bottled ones. We had the pan fried pork dumplings to start. I can't say for sure, but they seemed home made. As good as any of the fresh ones I've had in San Francisco Chinatown. And it wasn't raw! The youngsters went "raw". Selected three items to share between them. Looked nice. They liked it. I had some teriyaki beef thing over fried rice. Rather tasty. I liked it. And it was cooked. Not many cooked alternatives there, but there were several things I would have liked t try. I was forced to eat a few of the sushi things left over. Ok...I didn't die. Soy sauce dip helped. And the sushi had good consistency and didn't fall apart. High marks for appearance and ease of handling. Even using chop sticks. So I liked the place. And I wouldn't complain if I had to go again. Service very good and attentive. This is a great review from a guy who doesn't like sushi.

Great little sushi place

By jmbrownrn |

We come here pretty frequently, pretty much every roll is great and they always have tasty rolls on special. If you order enough sushi, they will bring it to you on a wooden boat. The service is great, the drinks are strong, there's a patio, prices are reasonable.

Favorite Sushi!

By Shannon R |

Deep Sushi is always superb! Sushi is so absolutely fresh & amazing every single time. I live in South Florida and crave Deep Sushi. When I arrive in Dallas, it's always the first place I go.

Really good sushi

By Bethagee |

We had an excellent sushi dinner here. The fish was really fresh and so tasty!! And the gyoza and spicy edamame were delicious as well!!

Best Lunch on our trip

By butterbean73 |

soft shell crab was wonderful... Unique rolls and sushi melted in your mouth, it was that fresh, good pricing for location.

Best sushi in downtown area, quirky atmosphere, good service

By tanager1 |

I have eaten here 6-8 times a year for years... A favorite downtown destination. The sushi is consistent and fresh. Ask for unique sushi chef creations if you're feeling adventurous...never disappointing. Note the amusing mural behind the sushi bar. Interpret if you can!

Yummy sushi--great happy hour

By SBR |

An attractive restaurant in an interesting area of town (as other reviewers have noted, there is major street construction which affects parking in the area). A good venue for a meal before sporting events or concerts in the downtown/Deep Ellum area. The sushi was very good; they have an unbelievable happy hour (5-7 Monday-Thursday) where if you order sushi which usually comes with 2 pieces, they give you 4! The rolls we had were very good; the octopus salad was excellent. All in all, a good place to try out.

Looking For Sushi

By Terrence |

On a three day vacation to Dallas. Found this Sushi Spot. The atmosphere was trendy and vibrant. We sat at the bar and ate. The food was good. Service was good. I have had better sushi, so could not give it a 5.

Packed House but Lots To Love

By David P |

On a Friday night visit, reservation in hand (highly advised), we entered into this hole-in-the-wall joint only with others' reviews to go by. We were seated at a small table right by the front door and RIGHT by the bar. It was all I could do not to ask for a better table. However, maybe it was the person I was with, but all of the noise and clutter of people standing up at the bar, we were melted into a world of our own and enjoyed really nice attentive service, and good suggestions. Would have been nice to sit on the patio, but the food was really solid. Drink prices are high, but not uncommon. Cuts of sashimi were obviously not performed by a pro, but not horrible either. Tasted very good. TIP: This place is sardine packed, so be prepared. It's a fun people watching place, though.

Serious Sushi for Years....

By Scott W |

Deep Sushi has stood the test of the up and down Deep Ellum times for sure. One of the stalwart hold outs from the glory days of the neighborhood and yet, still a bright star in the rebirth of this happening again entertainment district. Deep Sushi has been like a tried and true friend, while always offering the comfort of darn good food and service through it all. What can we say, the rolls and sashimi are always fresh and perfect with a wide selection of Deep Sushi originals (our favorites include the Cowboy Roll, Mama San Roll, Dragon lady Roll, and the Alaskan Roll). But if you have dining companions who just cant't do rolled up raw fish, Deep Sushi is your place. Their Tempura (tiger shrimp, sweet potato, zucchini, bell pepper and onion) is to die for and their soba noodles with yokisoba chicken or beef are dynamite. The very tasty pork and onion dumplings (Gyoza) are spot on. Deep Sushi also mixes one of the best martinis in Dallas and it is served up by one of the most friendly and professional wait staff anywhere. If you cannot tell by now, we love this place and have for years. We look forward to enjoying it for many years to come, too.

A great find!

By Michelle F |

We found this place by accident & decided to give it a try! We were impressed with the service, and the food was very good. Hubby and I shared a vegetable sushi roll, which was excellent. It was out less than 10 mins after we ordered which was a pleasant surprise. We both ordered teriyaki dishes for our entrees and enjoyed every bite. Definitely recommend!

Excellent

By casualdiner90 |

My wife and I visited deep sushi for lunch and it was excellent. The sushi chefs did a lovely job with preparation and the uni was fresh and tasty. The service was better than average. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Poor Customer Service

By txscurlygirl |

Arrived at 6pm on a Friday night, restaurant had about 5-6 tables occupied out of 25-30 total. (Basically, it was empty because this part of town doesn't wake up until after 8pm). We (2 of us) were seated in the back, near the kitchen, in a high traffic area. When we asked if we could be seated in a better spot, we were told those empty tables were reserved. We asked, "reserved for whom?" and we were told, reserved for people who walked in with parties of 4. The hostess was indifferent and decidedly unconcerned about attempting to see us in a better spot. We left and walked across the street to a charming, intimate Vietnamese place (LemmonGrass) where we were greeted warmly by the host and told we could sit wherever we liked. Save yourself the trouble of going to Deep Sushi - the lack of customer service and attitude doesn't deserve your time.

Super friendly bartenders

By Jason D |

This is a Deep Ellum institution that has been around for almost two decades. The quality is fantastic and the sushi chefs are more than willing to accommodate any request you have. If you are looking for a quick bite with one or two in your party, I highly recommend the bar. Bartenders are super friendly and have always got my drinks and food served quickly. The crowd is just as diverse as the great Deep Ellum entertainment neighborhood.

Best Sushi in Texas, no Question!!!

By lindsay0416 |

We have been going to Deep Sushi at least a couple times a week for years. The food is to die for AMAZING, the staff is an absolute delight, the owner is their all the time, and will stop by the table for the occassional Sake Bomb, or fresh Uni shooters when in season. There isn't anything that you won't like. This is our go to spot for whatever the occassion or non occcassion. Whenever friends or family visits from out of town, Deep Sushi is their first request. We even bring the bosses to Deep Sushi when they fly in from California! All of the servers are great and knowledgable, but Thi is our go to guy! Ask for him, and then just tell him what you like, and his suggestions will not disappoint! Go there, go there as much as possible!

Tasty, enjoyable

By jkb2222 |

Started off on the wrong foot - some kind of miscommunication amongst the hostess/servers I think - so we weren't greeted for about 10-15min after being seated. But another server noticed and stopped by, took our order, and when the right gal finally came by, she was super nice and did a good job making up for the bad start. My from-scratch strawberry mojito was delicious, and all four different rolls we ordered were very good. Nice atmosphere, and no wait for a table for 2 at 7:30 on a Friday night. Would definitely return.

One of the best sushi spots near downtown Dallas

By LoveToExplore1999 |

I've been to Deep Sushi multiple times since it is walking distance from downtown Dallas. The bento boxes, sushi and octopus salad are all great and it is reasonably priced. I recommend this place to friends who want sushi without having to drive or walk very far.

Just yum

By Almostbrady |

Everything was 5 stars, wait staff, food, beer, atmosphere. There was 6 of us on a Sunday, sat on the "patio". Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. We ordered: dragon lady, spicy rainbow, Philly, several orders of eel, 3 beers and a hot sake. Our total was around $90 and it was well worth it!!!

By NPLRoam |

If you love sushi, you'll love Deep. They've been around the area for a long time and they know what they are doing. They have fabulously scrumptious specials and you shouldn't be scared to let the waitress just order for you. The prices are reasonable and they have a decent sized seating area.

Sushi Nirvana

By Konstandean C |

This restaurant is great to come with at least 4 people to order the Sushi Boat--it is literally a boat filled with a variety of sushi components that you can enjoy, but it is pricey--about $ 80 so that is why you need to go with at least a crowd to enjoy this option. There are options on the menu for non-sushi eaters, but I have tried them and they are ok--not a reason to make the trip to this restaurant. Service was excellent--staff is extremely attentive and personable. Parking is convenient with two lots--one attached to the restaurant--the second across the street. Full bar is great--limited good wine selection. Overall a great place with a group and if you are going for a celebration because the place does get loud. Lot of fun, lot of energy. A must go to restaurant for the sushi lover.

Great Sushi!

Four of us loved this place. First time stop for two of us from Minnesota. Service was the best, she couldn't have been more perfect. We all loved our sushi and said we'd be back next time we visit Dallas, great spot!

Fresh sushi in deep ellum

By Janell C |

Deep sushi doesn't have a very extensive menu, but what they do offer is really good. They have a variety of sushi rolls and some sashimi. You can also get soup and salads. I ate the sashimi salad and the baked mussels. Both of these dishes were really good. The salad was a little smaller than I was expecting, but it had quite a bit of sashimi in it and it was really fresh. The baked mussels were absolutely delicious. They were huge and had a really tasty, creamy sauce on them with a little bit of crunch on top. I'm not sure what all was baked with the mussels, but it tasted great.

Great Sushi!

This place was excellent! Friendly staff, cool atmosphere, and delicious sushi. We had the Spivey edamame, Miso soup, and the Snoopy and Snow White rolls. And because we are not huge on rice, they wrapped our rolls on cucumber, which made them amazing! All of it was excellent! Plus the neighborhood, Deep Elam has loads going on and is a cool area to walk around. Highly recommend.

Salmon was very fresh

Good place to go with your family or your mate, good quality sushi. People were nice. The patio area is not that loud so you can have good conversation

The Extra Mile

By DukerG |

My coworkers and I went here for a lunch. We have gone a few times before. This time we noticed a change in wait staff and we actually had 2 servers. My coworkers each ordered the ahi tuna tower which they said was excellent but the extra mile came in when one of the servers was taking forever to mix up the tower. Just when we were starting to think "Is this guy ever going to let her eat her food?" he set it down. He had formed it into the shape of a heart. It was just a very sweet and unexpected gesture that he certainly did not have to do. I ordered the Deep Sushi spicy roll combo from their lunch menu and wow was it good. Honestly I have never had anything there I did not like.

Stopped in with my son on

By Greg P |

Stopped in with my son on a Sunday night around 8:30 and the place was jumping and had a nice vibe to it. We ordered 4 different rolls and all were very good but the Snoopy roll which was recommended by our server was excellent! If you are in town definitely give this place a try.

Miso and Maki Rolls here do not disappoint!

By franklylucille |

My husband and I eat sushi almost weekly at home in Houston. On our recent trip to Dallas we tried Deep Sushi and the rolls did not disappoint. They tasted awesome and were very good. The cherry blossom roll was nice and spicy. Their spicy tuna roll lacked any spice but the tuna was still great quality. I thought the prices were rather high $9 for a philadelphia roll??? $11 for an alaska roll??? But their fish was great quality. We went on a Saturday night and the place was dead which is likely due to the run down nature of the neighborhood. The resturant has nice decor, attentive service (we did not even get a quarter into our sodas before getting refills), and great food. Worth a trip to deep ellum for this hidden gem.

Very disgusting.

How would I describe my experience with one word? TERRIBLE! I came to this place for the first time with my coworkers for a team lunch. I would love to say otherwise but the experience was deplorable, here´s why: - Service was awfully slow - The server would disappear for over 10 minutes at a time. - I waited over 30 min just for my meal. My plate took longer than any of my 6 coworkers - who knows why. - Right when I was about to start eating, I FOUND A HAIR!!! Nasty! - After about 20 min of waiting for the waiter, he came by and I showed him the plate... He just said "Sorry about that, do you want a new one to go?" I was the only one that couldn´t eat. - I would never be irrational about something like this but the fact that they didn´t care, made me wait forever and still charged me for this horrible experience, forces me to voice my concern. I would never come back to this place and I suggest that you go somewhere else unless you want to wait forever for your food, you enjoy bad service and/or appreciate some hair in your food! I´ve uploaded two pictures for reference.

Small menu but good food

By wick1979 |

We ate here after catching the saints game next door at twilight. Sat at the sushi bar menu is limited but fresh. Had 2 orders of sushi and a order of rolls. Came out quick and tasted great. Wife had beef bento box was lacking in meat but decent flavor. She started with a seafood soup which was awful. Overall it's a decent sushi place I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

Deep Sushi in Deep Ellum was deeply deceptive from the curb

By Oran C |

From the moment my wife and I walked inside, we both knew we're in a special place. Lots of locals (blue, green, and yellow hair and tats galore.) and out-of-towners; all enjoying the food, vibe, and knowing they picked the right place for dinner this night! The sashimi was excellent, both rolls we consumed were just too good! Order the Cherry Bomb and enjoy the large Kirin Ichiban Shibori...order your food in stages, pace the evening and enjoy this wonderfully cool gem in Deep Ellum! あなたはそれを好きになる (you'll love it!)

great quality, great atmosphere

quality sushi in Deep Ellum. large variety of rolls... try the special roll of the day, it's always great!

Delicious on a dime

By rathrbefshn |

Me and a friend wanted sushi. She told me she knew of a place that was really good but had not tried it. So we decided to give it a shot. The place is located in Deep Ellum (not sure of spelling), so parking is hard to find. After parking and walking to the restaurant we noticed it was packed. They asked if we had a reservation. We did not, the hostess said it would be about a 20 minute wait. We decided to wait. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes, but come to find out it was well worth the wait. We ordered several rolls and sushimi. Everything was fresh and delicious. The biggest shocker was when I got the bill. It was a lot less than I expected. I wont tell you how many rolls we ate or what my bill was I will just say that eating sushi is something that I don't get to do often so we ate a lot. I have paid more for less eating on my own.

Awesome sushi/lacking atmosphere

By TripFan045 |

Depending on what you are looking for Deep Sushi could be your place. It is some of the best sushi that I have had in Dallas, definitely in the top 5 in terms of quality of the sushi, sashimi and rolls. As for the atmosphere, it seems to be dying of no fault of its own. The Deep Ellum area of Dallas in which it is located, just doesn't have the people it used to. A lot of closed down businesses, night clubs and restaurants and I am sure partially do to that, not as many people seem to make it down to Deep Sushi which is a shame. So if you are looking for awesome food, Deep Sushi is a great option but if you want some additionally ambiance, you might want to look elsewhere or maybe go with a large group. I recommend the New York roll, also the Spirit of Texas roll has a little kick but it good. The Ahi Tower is a favorite, and I would recommend passing on the edamame, it isn't great and you want to save room for the sushi.

Great Sushi! Great Location! Great Service

Awesome local sushi!

Fantastic service, fantastic food! This place is good and worth the stop. Plus it's in the heart of Deep Ellum so after dinner drinks are easy!

Nice quiet little restaurant

Surprisingly wonderful sushi in the middle of deep Ellum! Definitely reccomend the sashimi and whatever special rolls they have for the day. Strawberry Sangria not very good though but maybe it was because we were there right before closing on a Thursday night...

Long Standing Sushi in Eclectic Neighborhood

By Cigi T |

Deep Sushi has lasted through the ups and downs of the area known as Deep Ellum. That says a lot for a Sushi house in Dallas. There are many places to have Sushi, but I love this one due to its proximity to other night clubs and art galleries. If you like spicy, try the Dragon Lady roll. Your head will tingle! They have a clue that you can join for discounted sushi days, ask about it.

Great food:)

My boyfriend and I went there for Valentine's day and we had a great meal and great service even though we didn't have a reservation and it was very busy. Very nice staff!

Great meal and service!

Really enjoyed my meal here. The staff is friendly, helpful, and works fast. Very laid back, casual atmosphere on a street with a lot of activity. The sushi was extremely fresh and flavorful.

Yummy sushi & great service

By TxGrayNet |

I live in the middle of a desert where eating sushi can be a death wish. So whenever I've got the opportunity, I make it a mission to find a good sushi restaurant. The service here was quick & friendly...we waited less than 10 minutes before we had our appetizer delivered. By the way, DEFINITELY get the ahi tower. It would even be great as a meal. The Man Friend and I made the mistake of over-ordering. A lot of places only give you 6 pieces per roll, but Deep Sushi gives you 8...and we ordered 4 rolls (whoops!). Needless to say, start small! Try the Zesty (if it's available that day), Firecracker, Fantasy, and Spicy Rainbow rolls...but be warned they all have a kicked. So maybe mix up something a with a little less fire power in there, too. We will definitely go back!

Sushi in the afternoon.

By K B |

My wife and I recently traveled to visit our new grandbaby and had an afternoon off. We went to Deep Ellum for lunch and found this wonderful sushi restaurant with outdoor seating. Our waitress was fun, and very friendly. The rolls were so good. We went back again the following week with our kids and sat outside and had the same waitress. We ordered a huge sushi boat and it did not dissappoint. Definitely one of my favorite spots now.

Fine Food and Great Service

By Oldnway |

Thanks to a very knowledgable waiter, my wife, daughter and myself had an excellent meal. We started with The Tower appetizer, very flavorful. Our sushi dishes were very well prepared and just as the waiter described. We had plenty to eat, even enough to take quite a bit home. This place is located in an area known as Deep Ellum in Dallas.

Amazing sushi and saki!

By Sarah J |

Absolutely loved this place!! By far some of the best sushi I’ve had in Dallas. We got the ahi tower, volcano roll and red dragon roll. They were all delicious! We also got a cold saki that was really good. The place was really busy so I’m glad we had a reservation! The only complaint I have was one of the rolls took a long time to come out. Would definitely come here again because the food was awesome!

Everything was delicious and fresh, nice Sake choices, good prices.

By NYerinKellerTX |

The place was hoppin' on a Saturday evening at 7:30 - but we got a table right away. I ordered the sashimi salad which was delicious. My son has Miso soup and a sushi dinner, which he loved. They have a special on Tuesday - two for one on Nigiri (sushi on rice). If they weather is nice, get a table on the patio and watch the crowd in Deep Ellum. The Green Tea Ice Cream is just meh - and you may wait a while on the weekend to get your food, but grab a Sake and relax.

$2 Sake, need I say more?

By TexPat78 |

Tuesday night hankering for some raw fish drew us out to Deep Ellum earlier this month. Sad to see the neighbourhood another victim of Dallas' famous fickle taste, but glad to see DS as an oasis of taste. Half price sushi: good Friendly waitstaff: good $2 sake: you had me at hello. Bit of rough outside to keep the edge constant, this Deep Ellum restaurant is sure to be part of the revitalisation of The Hood. You heard it hear first, kids.

Can't be Beat!

Fantastic experience due to QUALITY service!

By Oklahomatravellover |

EXCELLENT! Went to Deep Sushi on the recommendation of a friend while we were visiting Dallas. I am so glad that we took the recommendation. Watch out for a little road work going on in the neighborhood, but this restaurant is in an interesting location. I can not say enough good things about the service provided. Our waitress provided recommendations based on what we asked for and WOW, her recommendations were spot on. The food was beautiful, fresh and delicious! Of course we tried three different desserts, my personal favorite was the fried ice cream, but the choc cake and the fried bananas were good as well. The entire experience was good. We went a little bit early in the evening, so there was no wait on a Saturday night. If you went later, you might have a bit of a wait as this is such a great place.

Our favorite local sushi bar!

By Ashes44 |

Deep Sushi is located in the heart of Deep Ellum and is close to other local mainstays. Their food is top notch but extremely affordable, plus they have weekly specials like half-priced wine! We visit often and are never disappointed!

Good Sushi Fair Price

By Robby M |

I was taken here by a friend as I love me some sushi. I had one of the lunch special Spicy Roll Combo. It was average in terms of taste and price. I would go again but would not go out of my way to make it there. I also tried the Ahi Tuna Tower. I asked the waiter if he has ever tried it and he said he thinks it is better than Blue Fish. Well it was not even close. It had 1/3 less fresh Ahi on top and was a much smaller dish. I would not order the tower again.

What a great place to eat sushi. Friendly environment and tasty food. Full bar available. Love the ability to eat on side porch. Reservations are also available

Fresh sushi! Great atmosphere!

I am out of town from Chicago and thought the Sushi was awesome. Had the special blue fin and Santa clause roll. Delicious! Sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and very helpful. Great place. I would visit again for sure!

Great Happy Hour!

The food, the staff and the prices were terrific. I really enjoyed some of the interesting rolls and martinis that they offered. Great spot to meet friends and enjoy some good food.

Good cheap food

Clean place good rolls the pepper tuna is awesome we came at happy hour and it was surprisingly affordable we’ll come back.

Favorite sushi place

By Claudia F |

This has been by far the best sushi I have ever tried. I had like 8 different sushi rolls and they were all so good, I also had some kind of fried cheesecake which was absolutely amazing. They have some kind of salmon called "toro" which is tastier than the average one and it has higher quality. Service was also excellent!

Not a place for drinks

By J10001 |

20 minute wait for one drink at the bar. Bar tenders are more concerned on serving bar stool sitters dinner than the guests here wanting a drink. Pick another bar for drinks. Maybe they should get rid of the nice long bar and just make it dinner tables.

Good sushi and rolls in Deep Ellum

By tmartazu |

On a sunny afternoon in September a friend and I were walking through a quiet Deep Ellum and fell into Deep Sushi. First time there for me. We thought that everything was fresh and delicious. We had: Best Roll - one of their specialty house rolls Texas Roll - spicy with a jalapeno pepper and sushi: Salmon and Yellow Tail Tuna. The chefs team were friendly and talkative, offering suggestions as they prepared for the evening rush. Definitely would go back.
