Great for a fairly inexpensive meal, nothing too fancy! Daily specials, very often fish. There is a tendency they over cook, large menu selection, mostly good service. and availability without reservation. good location on Embarcadero, nice outside seating area...

Hadn't been there for several years but nothing seems to change. Excellent service, great value (the prices have hardly changed), the quality is superb. There were some new beers on tap, a few new dishes, but mostly the same fresh produce and fish along with their unique meats.

Visited as a group during our study tour to San Francisco, we were treated to a great night in place that is run for such a worthy cause. My only disappointment is that I didn’t get to order from the full menu but to be expected when you are in a group of 20. The food that we did have was fantastic and certainly served with a sense of pride. This is definitely on my list of places to return either this visit or the next. Inspirational and worth the visit even if just for the ginger cake, which was amazing!

We met friends there on a rainy Sunday morning. Found Free street parking within a block of the restaurant. The vase of roses on a white table cloth ambiance was a nice surprise! But best for me was the fabulous French toast! Like a donut that is dipped in light maple syrup! A truly memorable dish!

We came for our last evening meal on our trip to SF. Yes the place and menu is not the fanciest but we got very homely well cooked food that was excellent value for money in this location. However, what made the visit for us was the story. Our server Gino took time to tell us all about the work of the Delancey Street Foundation, which is an incredible story! We were moved to tears. Please eat here if you’re visiting and pay a little back

It’s been a while since we’d last dined here. Hubby and I had dinner with an out of town friend. Delighted - it remains a gem. Superb service, spotless dining room, tables adorned with white tablecloths and fresh flowers, large variety of menu items, excellent food, decadent desserts, reasonable prices and all for a great cause. Can’t understand why there aren’t more establishments like this to give a second chance to so many.

Great service and good value Ate here after a Giant’s game. Dinner was substantial and tasty. Daughter had a bowl of clam chowder, husband had blackened meatloaf with mashed potatoes, I had crab cakes and a small cheese platter. Clam chowder was good. Nothing fancy about it. Husband’s meatloaf had a Cajun crust on it and he thought it was tasty! And my crab cakes were full of crab with little filler. The small cheese platter was standard with soft and medium firmness of the cheeses served with crackers and grapes. We ordered beer and wine from the bar. Service was professional and friendly. We will go here again as it is the best fine dining experience and value in San Francisco!

Have visited Delancey Street many times in the past and have had a great results. This visit , everything fell short except for excellent service. Was seated promptly and greeted by a friendly waiter . But our meals were not up to standard... my Halibut was a very small portion but very bland ..the mashed poratoes were also bland and a smaller portion then the Halibut , the green beans flavorless...had to add salt to everything . Very disappointing . The Crab Cakes tasted so horrible they had to be sent back , they tasted like the crab had gone bad. The replacement Meatloaf ( another small portion) was nothing more then a porion of ground beef and did not resemble meatloaf at all. The same flavorless mashed potatoes and vegetable made the dish boring . The wine was chilled and was the best part of the dinner. Something is amiss in the kitchen . 3 stars because of the good service ...

San Francisco friends invited us travellers for lunch at this restaurant. We had read a little about it on its website and were anxious to experience it in person. What a wonderful way to integrate individuals who have had unhappy encounters with the legal system into 'main-stream' society. Even apart from its social worth, however, the restaurant is well worth patronizing. The service is great, the food mostly very good and the prices are quite reasonable. The only criticism we had was for one entree that was served luke-warm.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff really tries to make you happy and achieves! Besides stylish set up surprising good value. Visited by regular guests, seems to be very popular before and after Baseball games in nearby stadium. I repeated my experience on the next day and was again very satisfied. Best restaurant on my trip in USA.

Only 7 cocktail choices but lots of beer and wine choices too. Menu is quite extensive and everything we had was very tasty. All of the staff are here ex-cons trying to rehabilitate and this gives them an opportunity. The cauliflower appetizer very good. Several good salads. Tasty pastas. And the French Fries are excellent.

We went here on a Sunday around 11am for brunch, no reservation, 4 adults. We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Drinks at the bar, 2 bloody mary and 2 mimosas, $30. We sat outside. The hostesses was a little rude, good thing we didn't interact with her much, except when I informed her the TP was out in the girls bathroom, she said "thanks". But our server, Kelly, was wonderful. She remembered everything and the food was amazing, Eggs benedict, fried chicken sandwich and egg scramble. Drinks, again were great. Good prices, good service, good food. We will be back!

On our holiday in San Francisco we got to visit the Delancey St Foundation to see first hand the amazing work of Mimi Silbert. If you want a unique experience go have a few pre dinner drinks and a meal. Make sure you google the Foundation first so you get the context of the uniqueness and make sure to leave a generous tip! We were surprised to learn the mission of Delancey and happy to support it by enjoying sole almondine and gumbo meals.

Delancey Street Restaurant has a unique story, you may google it for further details however in short: "The Delancey Street Foundation, often simply referred to as Delancey Street, is a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco that provides residential rehabilitation services and vocational training for substance abusers and convicted criminals. It reintegrates its residents into mainstream society by operating various businesses - such as restaurants, catering and moving companies - all of which are wholly managed and run by the residents themselves. The foundation's methods have been widely praised and have been emulated internationally." (Wikipedia) The food at Delancey Street Restaurant is so delicious and with reasonable prices and the service is great 👍. The menu selection is extensive. If you ever in San Francisco I highly recommend to visit this restaurant to enjoy what they have to offer.

We had a very nice lunch experience at Delaney Street last week. Excellent food and service. Not our first visit, we go there often.

We stopped in for a late breakfast. They have top notch service! For breakfast they serve these wonderful bagel slices to snake on while waiting for your meal. It is such a great idea! We ordered eggs Benedict and it was just ok. I think it had to much sauce. The flowers on the tables were beautiful! It's a place we will try again.

Delancey Street restaurant has wonderful food. I always get the wood fired rotisserie chicken but last Saturday nite some of my friends also had the wood grilled salmon. Each came with seasonal vegs. The onion rings for the table, the house made foccacia and the chocolate dipped biscotti were fabulous. And... to make things even better the cost for these treats is reasonable by any standard. This was our 4th annual holiday dinner. However, the thing that makes me even happier is that the Delancey Street Foundation (DSF) is completely self-supporting while engaged in helping folks turn their lives around. All the DSF enterprises are staffed by their residents who give a minimum of a 2-year commitment to the live-in program which offers recovery, education and an environment to acquire the softer skills needed for living outside the DSF cocoon. The model of each one helping another is inspiring. At the restaurant your servers will be part of the program. Tip them well and smile a lot - they will grin back at you. We were there for a holiday party but going to the Delancey Street restaurant is a holiday celebration in itself. Restrooms are spacious, there is valet parking and the restaurant is HP accessible. Reservations are usually required for dinner and/or larger groups. My friends enjoyed the private dining room which seats 40 people. There is also a 2nd private dining room - don't know its size. The bar serves beer and wine with tasty, moderately priced selections. If you are in one of the private dining rooms you may be asked to order at the bar for your own alcoholic beverages. You, of course, understand why after reading this. I can't recommend this restaurant enough.

My husband and I have been coming here (usually for dinner after a Giants game) for over 10 years. Never once have we had a bad meal or rude waiter. We have brought friends here who are blown away by the great prices for wonderful food. Yes this is a restaurant run through a "program" to help those that have made life choices that have derailed them, but by the time they are working in the restaurant they are well trained and ready to engage the patrons. The restaurant is always clean and have fresh flowers at the table. Glasses are refilled quickly, the food is served hot and tasty. Please make time to visit this incredible place when you visit San Francisco, especially if you are walking along the Embarcadero. My husband looks forward to having their hot fudge sundae (with an extra small serving of hot fudge on the side) after his meal. I love their homemade soups and salads.

We couldn't believe we found such a great quality restaurant. This place is a gem. We had such a good experience our first night we came back everyday of our vacation to try out the entire menu, breakfast, lunch, dinner and the greatest desserts. AMAZING service and AMAZING menu options. You won't be disappointed. This will be our spot for a lifetime. Thanks Delancey Street.

For a family reunion, we had Sunday brunch in Delancey Street Restaurant's Southwest Room. The private dining brunch menu we chose included five entree choices: cheese blintzes, french toast, smoked trout platter, garden scramble, and Italian omelet. After our salad starter, we were served our entrees. I had the cheese blintzes - three! - which came with sour cream and homemade jam, and they were delicious and filling. Even so, it was difficult to keep my eyes off of my sister's french toast: two thick slices of homemade challah deep fried in clarified butter and served with maple syrup, All of the entrees were generously sized. The set included a glass of champagne, mimosa, or freshly squeezed orange juice, as well as coffee or tea. Sheila, who had handled our reservation, was a warm and welcoming presence who kept the food and drink coming. We enjoyed the delicious food and the relaxing atmosphere. We look forward to returning to Delancey Street Restaurant on future visits to San Francisco.

This restaurant was so good. We stopped after a visit to the Exploritorium. Surprised to find the place very elegant yet unbelievably reasonably priced. Large sizes too. Not ordinary clearly a great chef. The fried chicken was super and can easily feed two. Check. Out the great salads too.

The prices are really great for being in The City, and the food was delicious! My wife and I both had the French Omelete and it was fantastic. The service was also tops. We will definetely return next time we go to see the Giants.

Interior decor is beautifully done with Brass and Wood with charming little wall sconce lights on the individual tables facing the bay. They take great pride in the view and the windows are spotless for a stunning view. Plenty of room between tables for a nice cozy set up and intimate experience. Bar area is separated by a low wall with glass partitions. Nicely lit and very inviting. We had dinner reservations for 6:00 but due to traffic were a tad late but the host was very gracious when we arrived. We did try to call and let them know we were going to be late, but our call was disconnected. From the 1st person who seated us to our server Jarod, everything was spot on and very, very professional. A server was setting up a table next to ours and was taking great pride in the presentation of the table, by checking every glass, plate and utensil for spotless presentation. Semi warm Focaccia bread with olives and grilled onions served with a very Virgin Olive Oil was served immediately after we sat down. We went right to work on this while we made our difficult meal choice. Difficult in that there were many wonderful choices to choose from. Extensive wine list, most around $6.00. Other alcoholic beverages were also available and also very reasonably priced. We chose a Mixed Green Salad with 3 kinds of Beets, Bleu Cheese Chunks and roasted Pistachios all tossed in a delicate Balsamic Vinegar dressing. The greens were so fresh and crisp, beautiful Red, Purple and Golden Beets, "chunks" of Bleu Cheese throughout with no skimping on the Pistachios. Gorgeously presented / plated and absolutely delicious. Main course was the "Large serving" of Blackened Meat Loaf with fluffy buttery mashed potatoes and fresh green beans, cooked perfectly. The Meat Loaf was seasoned with many wonderful herbs and had a touch of "heat" throughout. Also cooked perfectly and not the slightest bit dry. Of course this went beautifully with the Mashed Potatoes and fresh Green Beans, also cooked to perfection. We finished with a coffee, which was rich and robust and my guest and I tried the small profiteroles. My friend had hers with Chocolate Ice Cream and Carmel topping, I chose the Vanilla Bean I.C. and Chocolate Sauce. They were so dainty and just the right size to end a beautiful meal. Our server Jarod was so lovely and very professional and we even got him to giggle just a bit. We know serving might not be their profession of choice, but they execute it with aplomb, dignity, professionally and personally. Our entire meal came to $38.00. One you would have paid closer to $50.00 any where else. I was so pleased and impressed I will return as quickly as I can. A fine establishment indeed and one that deserves all this praise and so much more.

I read about Delancey Street Restaurant before arriving on our trip to San Francisco. I was determined to visit (you need to read the back story about this amazing place, if you don't know it). All the staff at the restaurant were bursting with pride in their work and a real enthusiasm. Their joy was infectious. Some of our other diners were also friendly and we had a great time sharing stories (and menu recommendations from the locals). We were on our way to our first baseball game at Oracle Park (which is a short walk away), but had time for a leisurely brunch - everything flowed perfectly. My husband had the rib eye and eggs, whilst I had the veggie burger (with delicious mushrooms and onions). We also shared the most amazing gingerbread... I could not recommend this highly enough - delicious!! If you get the chance, DEFINITELY put Delancey Street Restaurant on your list. Proper neighbourhood dining. Not pretentious - just serving good food with a smile.

My husband and I came to Delancey Street a few years ago before a Giants game after reading about how Delancey Street helps members of the community. We loved it then and I am pleased to say we still love it! We went after a Giants game for dinner instead of spending money on ballpark food. Joe was our server and he was so pleasant. The service is quick. We each had a cocktail and the olives and artichoke hearts which were good starters for something not too heavy. My husband got the French special and really enjoyed it which came with French onion soup, two different crepes for the entree and two puff pastries with ice cream for dessert. I had the arugula and beet salad and one thing, there was way too much arugula to toppings in my opinion. I got the pesto pasta and ate half and took the other half back to our hotel because it was rich, but really delicious. Then the chocolate mousse for dessert was amazing. If I can find chocolate mousse that's usually my go to choice for a dessert and it didn't disappoint. The kitchen works quickly and the restaurant was pretty much full so that's always nice when restaurants are efficient. Delancey Street looks super elegant on the inside, but you can still be casual coming from a baseball game which is nice. I have definitely recommended this restaurant to friends and family and I will continue to do so.

I've dined at Delancey Street on several occasions for lunch and dinner and have been generally pleased., Today's breakfast with a large group was outstanding. The food was excellent and well presented. Service was equally impressive in this restaurant which serves as a training program for staff who have passed rigorous scrutiny as part of the Delancey Foundation and promotion based on merit to become staff for some of the best restaurants in San Francisco.

We stumbled upon this spot after a long day of cycling and walking the whole of San Francisco. From the outside the restaurant looks very well put together with table cloths and smartly dressed waiting staff. We didn’t feel completely appropriately dressed (shorts) so asked to sit outside. Our server was very knowledgable and very helpful. We went for the recommended clam chowder. (Delicious) Main course was equally as nice. We skipped dessert as we where stuffed. Great service. Great value!

The drink, dinner and dessert menus are packed with so many amazing options. You will not be disappointed with the options of wonderful cuisine.

A great restaurant us girlfriends go to about quarterly to catch up. We love the venue, the menu and have always had great service over the years.

Delancey Street Restaurant is so good that we went back the next day. We enjoyed delicious food and excellent service from the well-trained, polite, and friendly staff. The tastefully decorated dining room has well spaced tables, set with white tablecloths, but the staff, the food and the low prices are the real draw-cards.

This restaurant is very nice and bright with a high class feel. Linen tablecloths and great service with great food and very reasonable pricing for the city. Highly recommend it!

I have been going to Delancy Street Restaurant with my wife, family and visiting friends for many years. I'd think it's been about 15 years or so. I am always impressed by the service, the breadth of their menu, the quality of the food, and the reasonableness of their prices. Thursday night before the Giants' game was no difference. We will be returning.

After reading about the Delancey program we wanted to go & see this restaurant, so after a full afternoon visiting Alcatraz we went for supper, no reservation, that ok Mame, the front guy said, no problem. Daniel our waiter was soon looking after us very nicely, we are from the uk so we needed a bit of assistance in explaining a few dishes, we ordered, then we received the most delicious bread & butter & good olive oil, water & drinks followed very quickly. The food came & both my husbands & my food my was so delicious, but, huge portions, it was the cheapest & best quality food we have received since getting into SF, we have booked again, please try it you won’t be disappointed, trust me, we are going back for dinner on Sunday, that’s how much we liked it.

1 the service was the worst I have received in San Francisco. Nobody would wait on us. 20 mins for water. 10 mins for a refill. They staff more worried about setting the tables

My strong insistence is ,when in San Francisco, resident or overseas visitor, you must visit one of the most delightful, refreshing, surprisingly brilliant restaurants along from Fishermans Wharf at 600,Embarcadero. From arrival and the warm greeting by the Maitre'd,to pre dinner drinks at the well appointed bar by the knowledgable bar steward, we were seated at our reserved table. The menu was not overley extensive but the range of food was full of imagination and creativity from the entree's,main course and dessert, together with the smartly dressed waitstaff.. The starters selected were fried cauliflower florets in a spicy honey based sauce, roasted tomato soup followed by roast chicken and grilled fish mains presented beautifully presented,as was the dessert offerings.A conservative but well selected range of wines also on offer. My suggestion at the end of the meal is skip the tea or coffee and order the mug of hot cider with cinnamon stick- what a finish to a delightful evening. The restaurant is even more rewarding with the extremely well priced tab on conclusion. Our home is Australia and we boarded our cruise ship for home the following day,not one meal onboard excelled Delancy's Foundation is well known for the training programmes relating to folk who we might say took a wrong turning in life, and their restaurant staff are an absolute credit to them. Do not overlook this place when in San Francisco.

We were looking for a place where we could hear ourselves talk, eat well and not need a loan to pay the bill. This place was just it! The food was very good, I had a super fresh spinach salad and a blackened meatloaf that melted in my mouth, savoury but not too spicy, my colleagues enjoyed crab cakes, scallops, braised lamb and chicken. Our dishes were creatively flavoured while still homely, a rare and very pleasant combination. Our waiter was attentive and very pleasant without being overly present. The place was 3/4 full, but not too loud. It was dark when we ate - past 7 in February, but the view must be splendid and they have a veranda warmer weather. The main courses were between 10 and 15$ (service to add), much cheaper than most places in SF. I definitely recommend the restaurant.

Had a fabulous lunch today. The menu and beverage items were diverse and affodable, and the restaurant had a classy peaceful ambiance. The sevice was excellent and our meals were nicely presented and delicious.

Really good service, and food. I have a gluten & dairy allergy and they did their best to accommodate me. The waiter we had was so lovely. Good size portions and very tasty. We came here because of Trip Advisor and the ethos of the place.

Visited Delancey on a Saturday afternoon for a breakfast ( yes I was late !) They have a special menu for breakfast on Saturday and ample options if you are an egg fan!. I chose to had 3 egg white mushroom and spinach omlette with apple butter jam and slices of sourdough bread. The omlette was good , hearty and the highlight was the jam which went really well with the omlette.

Amazing story and the food and service are fantastic! Everyone should read the story about this unique place before visiting, it will explain the hesitancy of some of the staff. They are doing great things in the community!!

The service was not what I was expecting. Dinner menu starts at 4, we were there at 3 but felt like lunch menu was more like brunch/breakfast. Lots of parking available and nice view over the bay. Prices are not bad at all. Had the burgers which was fine but did not like the potatoes and it was cold.

Had a fantastic work dinner at Delancey. Huge menu with delicious food at ridiculously affordable prices... plus it all goes for a great cause. Would seem charitable except it is such a great experience it would be worth visiting even if not for a cause.

We are staying at an Airbnb two blocks away. We had gone to two other lousy places and wanted something close by, so decided to give it a try. Didn't expect much, but were we wrong. The food was as good as we've had at any 4+star restaurant for prices substantially less. While some people were in jeans, this really is a place for slacks and button shirt. We really think this place, which has a story you can find elsewhere, is excellent on its own... don't think of coming because it's charity... think that you will be the beneficiary. Dinner for 4, including 1 beer, 1 wine, 1 drink, appetizers mains and desert including tax was $125

My favorite thing is the lava cake with coconut ice cream. The buffalo burger and salmon is good, too. Great service and good bang for the buck. I have been here multiple times and will continue to stop in when I'm in the area.

I dined at the DeLancey street restaurant today and ordered a will done burger and got a phenomenal mushroom Swiss burger that was absolutely fantastic this place is really nice to get nice on Beyonce linen tablecloth linen napkins and black tie Waiters that take care of you. Also the price was very reasonable on the entire menu from BLT's , crab cakes, sea bass you name it. Great spot 👍👍👍

Delancey Street Restaurant is conveniently located across a Muni train stop. I'm sure others have mentioned the history here and that work and dedication is worthy of one additional star. That said, the food is decent though I suppose I was left wanting more. The food presentation is okay; the fresh fruit bowl could use a makeover. One highlight is the Bloody Mary mix served with a celery stalk. That's pleasantly delicious. Would recommend you go there at least once to support the community. Thank you.

We dined here twice in our 5 day stay in SF and both times had a wonderful experience and delicious meal. Delancey Street is a incredibly inspiring organization that helps people turn their lives around and be productive members of society. The waitstaff here and at the neighboring Crossroads Cafe are part of the program and all work very hard to make sure the clientele have a positive dining experience. The food is beautifully presented and delicious - both nights we had a lot of first courses and salads which included the kale and broccoli salad, fried artichokes, fried calamari and spicy cauliflower. Mains included crab cakes, fresh fish (halibut one night, baramundi the next), ribs, pasta, lamb shank and a chicken dish. All the portions were very generous. Dessert was a huge and scrumptious ice cream sundae. Prices are extremely reasonable, service was super attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this special place!

The service was polite and friendly, the food was delicious - rated the best pasta the kids have ever had! Definitely try the onion strings too, and the smoothie went down a treat as well. Really friendly atmosphere, and professional. A brilliant concept, executed excellently. We recommend this place to anyone in the SF area. The title is my six year old's summary of the experience!

The service and food was delicious, we had the lamb which melted in your mouth, singamore dish was fabulous. For desert my husband had the Hot Fudge Sundae and I had the Meringue with strawberries. Would have it again.

Really enjoyed dining here! Great food, great service and all at a very reasonable price. We shared two appetizers (calamari and crab cake), each had an entree (tuna steak and scallops), desserts (scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, sundae), and total of 3 beers....$80. That's an outrageous bargain in the city! Give it a try, you'll be glad you stopped in!

Brunch was wonderful - considering I usually don't eat breakfast, Mama's Omelette was all gone before I left. The food is unique - very San Francisco, and it is on the Embracado - so there was a nice ocean view. The story behind Delancey Street in New York - travels to San Francisco - in this very nice, quaint restaurant.

As stated in other reviews, you need to google the history of this place. This is a work training program for a fantastic organization that has been around San Francisco for decades and has helped thousands of people to get their lives back. Personally, I have 2 family members who have been through their drug rehab program. Every one working at this restaurant is trying to get their lives back, and tips here are actually considered a donation as the profits all go to the foundation. That being said, I wish I had eaten here years ago. Costs are so reasonable for this waterfront view, and the food for Sunday brunch was amazing. White table clothes, tie clad waiters, dungeness crab cakes. Service was excellent, eggs benedict had the best hollandaise sauce I have ever had, and the copper bar was just beautiful. It too was made by someone getting assistance at Delancey. Seems Food Network has recommended their BBQ so planning to go back again soon and try this place for lunch or dinner. Not only is it a great dining experience at a great price, it is supporting a great foundation.

I took some eggs mimosa, the eggs were too cooked and the fruit salade was melon balls very average. The service wasn’t good at all.

I have been here too many times to count. Many times for lunch as was this last visit. Service was spectacular. Prices remain reasonable. I understand the previous Chef and possibly even the pastry Chef have left and there are now new "Chef's" in training. It was quite apparent on our recent visit. The food did not "pop", like it usually does. Very plain presentation. Food just "plopped" on the plates. I had the Reuben sandwich and it had no 1000 island dressing or special sauce. Was swimming in gooey cheese to the point the whole sandwich slid apart. And was quite flavorless. Guests had Salmon Caesar (no comment) and Ribs and BBQ Chicken (no comment). We all had dessert. Key Lime pie now just a wedge, half the size it used to be and no lime taste, boring. One Ginger Cake which was HUGE and came with a side of whip cream. Very good and gingery. I had the butterscotch putting which was awful. It was "pure vanilla". When I mentioned this to the server, I was told about the pastry chef switch. I was not given a refund, but offered something else. I declined but should have taken a "Ginger Cake" to go. Mimi Silbert needs to "revisit" the kitchen as I'm sure she would not be happy about the quality of food that is currently coming out of the kitchen.

I sat at the copper covered bar. I ordered an Icelandic beer ($4) and ordered petrale sole ($17). The fish was tender with a crispy skin. The vegetables were well prepared. The cost of the meal is low relative to San Feancisco standards. I did not have a salad, but I shared an appetizer with my friends. It was like a Chinese dumpling, but with some cilantro. Since I have the gene that makes cilantro taste like metal or soap, my response differed than the others with me. I can say the dumpling was firm and seemingly well prepared. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was comfortable. I could hear my friends in our discussions. In other words, it was not loud in the restaurant. It was very convenient walk to the baseball game.

This was just a great all around experience!!! First of all, you just pull up to the door and have valet service at a very reasonable rate. That is something that is not a common thing in San Francisco. Second, The atmosphere is very nice. We got there in between the normal lunch and dinner time, so we got right in and were seated at a window seat, which was great as you are near the water and can look at boats and people jogging along the park across the street. The restaurant has a beautiful bar area and has a nice layout. with lots of windows so you can see the action all around you. There is a kind of old school feel to the place with a balance of window light and lots of dark wood. Third, the restaurant trains folks who have struggled with substance abusers or have been incarcerated and are transitioning back into productive daily life, so it is a much needed service for everyone who works there, as well as the folks who are in need of a good reasonably priced meal. The waitstaff were very professional and were helpful, friendly and knew their menu etc. We ordered and were served our meal came quickly and was beautifully plated. It was a late lunch so I enjoyed a tasty soup and light salad. Very nice! My parents enjoyed a nice piece of halibut and a juicy Rueben Sandwich. On top of the great price of the meal, the good food, and the fabulous....... We were able to pay, and have our car brought around quickly. Great experience that would recommend everyone try!

We stopped in for some brunch and were pleasantly surprised by the charm, friendly staff and the PRICE! Our server Kevin K was quick and attentive. The manager was super friendly and fielded our TOURIST-Y questions on HOW on earth do we pay for the darn trains along the water front. The food was fantastic! The Mexican Omelette Great, Rueben has real corn beef (not the Pastrami some use) & great sauerkraut plus the Mama’s Omelette was outstanding! The homemade triple berry jam was pretty great too. After our meal the manager even came by to see if we needed correct change for the train since they only take cash (definitely different for us Seattle-ites). Besides a nice clean stop for excellent and very reasonable priced food the staff was incredibly friendly and interactive.

Delancey Street is run by people rehabilitating themselves. It is worth a trip just to hear the stories. But there's a bonus: the food is great. My group booked a private room. We had a preset dinner with a choice of three entrees. Appetizers included homemade onion rings and although I am not a big fan of onion rings, I couldn't leave these alone. The second course was a pureed spinach and mint soup. Good and refreshing, followed by a salad.Did I mention the bread? Yum. My entree was a generous piece of grilled salmon with a light miso glaze, cooked perfectly (how often have you had overcooked salmon?) accompanied by grilled corn (off the cob, thank you) and grilled bok choy. Dessert was creme brûlée, which looked really good, but after all those onion rings (and salmon) I couldn't take another bite. The cost was reasonable and the best part was our server J (I didn't ask his permission so I won't use his name) was very willing to tell us his story and how he came to be there. What I like about Delancey (I was here for brunch when I was in SF in January) is the folks will open up to you if you ask but they aren't there to preach, they are there to serve you good food in pleasant surroundings. And they do!

My wife and I discovered this restaurant a few years ago and just went back for the umpteenth time this weekend. Amazing is an understatement. The food is fantastic (& very reasonably priced), the service impeccable (they now have Valet for only $4), but the organization behind the restaurant is inspirational. Everyone at the restaurant is in a program to turn their lives around from previous issues. So, not only do you get great food served by very nice people, you also get to do a good thing by helping out a worth-while cause. BTW - I tried the Blackened Meatloaf with the Garlic Mashed Potatoes (first time) and it was The Best Meatloaf I've Had (Sorry Mom)

I went to this restaurant with a group of business colleagues, and I had an amazing meal of the chef favorites. Gumbo was terrific and the cheesecake dessert was out of sight.

I'll have to be honest here (that's code for "this won't be a nice review"). Sure this is a cozy eatery with an apparent "midrange-to-upscale" atmosphere, or at least they're trying to sell themselves as such. Has excellent service and very courteous staff. Reasonably midrange pricing for the premium location (SF Embarcadero / pier area). But just like most other restaurants in this touristy-region, I couldn't help but feel a *little* disappointed at the quality of the actual food served. Really, I'm still waiting for that one special restaurant on the SF pier/Embarcadero (that won't cost you an arm and a leg) that you can proudly recommend to visitors and gush about the taste, and I've yet to be enlightened. We had the fried calamari appetizer and the Moroccan stew with couscous. Mediocre flavours I'd say, to be kind. Nothing to write home about. And no, don't tell me "It's because of the food you choose", because that's an extremely lame and lazy justification for any restaurant. Everything on your menu should have some standard level of FLAVOUR. This tasted like supermarket/microwaved dinners; not too bad, still edible, but at an establishment with this kind of image I honestly expected much better. Other than the actual food itself, everything else was great. Taking that into count plus the prime location by the Bay, I'm giving this a 4* rating (out of 5). I'd give it a 3* though if based solely on the food. Still a nice atmosphere and location to sit down for drinks and a date. Just don't bother with actual food.

Wonderful food and attentive staff. Probably the high point of my trip to San Francisco. Can't say enough good things. The clam chowder is to die for!!!

Great restaurant with great service. White linen on the tables. Variety of items on the menu. Nice outdoor seating area with views of the bridge. Excellent prices. Dessert was the best.

When in this part of the city, we try to stop here for a meal. The food is very good and the service is excellent. The staff are attentive and clearly enjoy what they are doing. We support the mission of Delancy Street because the restaurant is a key training school of the Delancey Street Foundation, the country's largest self-help residential organization for people who have hit bottom to completely rebuild their lives. Stop here, help others. The Crossroads Cafe is nearby and part of this wonderful organization too

Delancey Street is one of those best-kept secrets. The food is an eclectic mix of dishes, all based on recipes of family and friends of the foundation. (Of course, those friends include some of the most famous chefs in town!) This is a training situation for the residents of the foundation, but you would be hard-pressed to know that unless you ask for the background sheet. The bow-tied servers are courteous and polite, and the food is quite delicious. Excellent location right on the Embarcadero at the foot of the Bay Bridge by Oracle Park (and soon the Chase Center).

Our group of ten were waited on by Aaron, who began with a list of specials. Of these, I choose gazpacho and swordfish blackened with cajun butter, served with fennel puree. Others had the highly rated chicken buttermilk sandwich, with regular or sweet potato fries, or salads. Some started with clam chowder, which earned superlative comments. Then, desserts. oh, my! I was happy to find a small sized and small priced ($1.95) option: profiterole. The meringue with berries was beautiful and delicious, and the signature banana split was flambeed, and amazing! What makes the wide variety, creativity, and taste even more amazing is the people executing it all. The entire staff, including kitchen and wait staff, are ex-convicts and/or addicts, who have learned all the skills needed from the ground up. Amazing value, great cause. They also have brunch on weekends.

Made reservations, promptly seated, all 4of us happy with food and service....drinks and sandwiches were delicious and a good startto the Giants game... management does a formidable job in serving a large crowd of customers

Great view, amazing service and good food. Show your generosity by tipping extra if you like since all the profit goes to help some hardworking people back on their feet. Will definitely go back.

We had dinner at Delancey's on our last night in SF and we were disappointed we hadn't found this place earlier. The restaurant was quite full but the service was excellent and I could tell that this was a favourite place for many locals. The food was delicious and very well priced and we would definitely recommend this place to all our friends.

We are a long time patrons for this elegant restaurant and were happy to have dinner here after the remodeling. They hardly changed the layout, the menu is the same and staff is great as always. A fresh carpet and new booths are the most noticeable changes. In the menu, there are small plates available now (like half of meatloaf) which is very helpful for some of us. The noise level is very low, making this restaurant suitable for meetings. Great food, friendly service and elegant environment make this restaurant a "go-to" place in SF.

Great spot in SF, great food value ...from burgers, sandwiches, to salmon and halibut. Service was excellent with a variety of menu items and beer and wine at a great value for SF. We had a late lunch early dinner before the Giants game, was very surprised at the menu quality with great prices. The servers with white shirts and bow ties are friendly and accommodating. The white table cloths are first class. The restrooms were imacualte - looked freshly painted and impressive for a restaurant that has a lot of patrons. We did not have reservations - however might be recommended for peak hours/days. Definitely we visit again!!

We went here on Sunday..but couldn't get a reservation till 2 p.m. The chicken sandwich was big and filling. The "fruit salad"? Was a few partial melon balls in a little dish..terribly disappointing...and even at $3.95 seemed overpriced. Definitely need some work on that! The cheese blintzes were pretty good. Drinks are very affordable. White table clothes are nice, and the place is still very comfortable so you won't feel underdressed if you arrive casually dressed. Fine for tourists. We were asked if we wanted dessert...but by this time 3:15 p.m. A man was vacuuming near our table. We definitely felt they wanted us out of there. They already had been setting up the tables for dinner. But the vacuuming while we were still trying to have a conversation wasn't a good thing. I suppose they were ready for an hour's break maybe. Supposedly they finished brunch at 3:30. Overall though..the service was fine, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Prices are very reasonable for San Francisco. A good place to bring your relatives who may not be too adventurous...without breaking the bank. Would be good for families. Split the chicken sandwich for two children.. I haven't been in the evening recently, but before their rotisserie meats were good. Will have to try that again. Not gourmet, but pretty good and a bargain in this city!

We have been patrons of Delancey Street for decades. On a trip back to our former hometown (San Francisco), we went by for lunch. Had a wonderful table outside looking on the Bay, but the food was not good and service was very poor. I know that it's a training restaurant, so we cut them some slack on service, but the food always made up for that. Not today. Too bad. That was our last visit to one of our old favorites. Too many other great places to eat.

Delancey Street does great work in a lot of things (their moving company did a whale of a job for us), and even though I'd been to a birthday party there about twenty years ago, I'd never gone back--which I wish hadn't been the case, since we had such a great experience. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. The ambience is far fancier than I would have expected, and the food itself was great. I had the Chanukkah special (matzoh ball soup, brisket, and latkes) and all of it was just right. My wife had the kale salad with salmon and pronounced it excellent. All of it was dirt cheap (by San Francisco standards), and now that I'm really aware of what they can do, I'll be back.

We eat here every time we are in the city. Supporting people moving into new lives AND getting good food at the same time! Who could resist? Service was good and our servers definitely made the dinner pleasant.

Outstanding! The buttermilk fried chicken was great, crispy, juicy, well seasoned, and HUGE $8.95, best value anywhere. the Crab cake Benedict $12.95 was also excellent, never had a bad meal here. Service is great. Bonus, the vibe is really positive, everyone working on rebuilding their lives, and you can be a part of it ❤️👍

While visiting SF, we saw the reviews and wanted to go there and support their vision and enjoy great food. We loved this place! Reasonably priced fine dining. Mohammed was our waiter and he was friendly and explained all the items. We had the calamari and crab cakes to start. Very enjoyable! The gumbo was good, but not very filling. My chicken with prosciutto and mushrooms was wonderful too. The bread pudding and the banana split finished off our meal. All 4 of us enjoyed the banana split as a birthday celebration dessert. The only drawback in our opinion is that we arrived at 5 p.m. without reservations. There were maybe 4 other tables with guests dining when we arrived. Since it was our 14 year old's birthday, we asked for a window seat. We were told by the older maitre d that they were reserved for the guests with reservations. I explained it was our daughter's birthday, but he still would not relocate us. Instead we were put in the last section near the bar and next to the soup kettle. Not a bad table, but it was upsetting that throughout our dinner and even when we left, a lot of the tables near the windows never were even occupied throughout our dining experience. Great food and service, but the maitre d could practice better customer service. $142 for 4 for 4 alcohol drinks, 3 apps, 4 entrees, 4 desserts. Would highly recommend this restaurant!!

The quality of the food, the service and the atmosphere of this restaurant were a JOY. I know that's an unusual descriptive for a restaurant, but when you realize the connection of the restaurant to the 45-year history of the Delancey Foundation in helping rehab former substance abusers, ex-convicts, homeless and others who have hit bottom, you'll see why it was so satisfying to be served by these courageous individuals. From the $4 valet service at the curb, to the formally-dressed waiters, to the reasonably priced gourmet entrees, it was a great experience. Though the inside dining was table cloths and fresh flowers, we chose the patio because we had a dog, that they graciously allowed to accompany us. The Delancey experience is a must for anyone visiting or living in San Francisco!

Excellent food with prices that were very reasonable! Good service by well trained staff - you need to read the background on this restaurant to appreciate the staff! A short walk (about 1/4 mile from the Giants’ stadium). Nice indoor and outdoor seating (though it can get a little windy outside).

What a wonderful restaurant. Fantastic staff and food. Will definitely go again if in San Francisco.

Delicious food and large portions , amazing atmosphere, friendly staff. Even over the top deserts. Wonderful restaurant. Thank you Delancey !

The decor is nice, location excellent and the ambience decent but other than a couple appetizers, our food was average to not so great. We found the service a bit standoffish and not as friendly as we usually experience but it was competent. The 2 items we did have that were outstanding; the grilled scallops and the sweet & sour cauliflower. I had the ahi tuna and unfortunately, one of the worst I've had. I would recommend the restaurant slice the tuna to achieve a better result & presentation.

We actually visited Delancy Street Restaurant a number of times during our two week stay with our son and daughter-in-law (who live locally and are regulars). The food is well prepared, imaginative and well priced. The service is excellent- both very professional yet genuinely friendly. We will be back!

This was a dinner with colleagues after a long day at work. The menu was pre-planned and each course was served family style. The cuisine is American style. The best dish was sweet and spicy cauliflower. This is a restaurant that is found on a social justice mission and in a city where eating out can bankrupt you, this restaurant ensures financial solvency! Our menu, which had tons of food, came to $60.00 per person. The restaurant and private rooms for groups, indoor seating as well as outdoor seating.

This is an amazing restaurant. The food is great serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. What is special about this place is the servers. This is a foundation that gives those who have served time in prison a second chance in getting their lives back on track. They do an amazing job making all their guest feel special. Valet parking makes the entire experience delightful.

Called in on our way past for a quick lunch. Greeted at the door and shown to our table, menus were thrown down on the table and then the gentleman walked away without saying anything which we all found quite rude. Our server then came over and had little to no interaction with the table, no personality what so ever which made us feel very unwelcome. I had ordered their Mexican special which wasn’t great at all, very bland and greasy. Friends got sandwiches which looked ok but nothing special. Wouldn’t recommend, take the tram right outside down to Pier 39 area and you will find better restaurants that make you feel welcome.

Do not be concerned about the staff, many would read that this restaurant had on its staff people who had been down on there luck Have to say staff was friendly, food was great, and they made changes we both reguested to how or orders were prepared.

This was our first visit, we stopped here for dinner before we went to see Cirque du Soleil. Delancey St. calls themselves an "ethnic American Bistro", combining different ethnic foods as well as American favorites, like fried Chicken. The salads were large, fresh, and delicious. We also enjoyed the chickpea kale appetizer and a pizzaiola. The Street Noodle tofu dish and the rib eye steak all got high marks. We were delighted with the attentive service and the relaxed ambiance. The restaurant is a training school for down and out people who need a second chance. Chefs and Managers from the best restaurants in S.F. help to train these folks. They have gotten lots of positive reviews. We recommend it highly.

This restaurant is a bit out of the tourist area, so it tends to be quieter and calmer than other San Francisco restaurants. The servers are attentive without being annoying or overbearing. The food selection is large. And the food is delicious for the eyes as well as the stomach. Our server let us know if a selection tended to be spicy, and then conveyed to the kitchen the desire of one of our group that he go light on the spices with her dish - and it was perfect! I've eaten here on 2 different visits to San Francisco, and both times the visit was very pleasant and delicious. Add to that the wonderful social justice of the Foundation, and you most definitely have a "win-win" here! I would highly recommend Delancey Street!

To start this review, I would just like to say that this place is extraordinarily unique and overall a great place to visit. First of all, the food is delicious beyond belief. I got the baby back ribs and, although they were messy, they were extremely delicious. The prices are also very reasonable. As a dessert I got a root beer float (that was mouth-wateringly delicious) for only $2.75. The staff is extremely nice and friendly and the whole place has a great vibe. Lastly (and probably most importantly), what the whole place stands for is great. People with rough backgrounds are given a second chance in the community. They are given jobs at this delightful restaurant that helps them learn and grow as people in a healthy, happy environment. This is a great restaurant and a must-visit for tourists and locals alike.

What an awesome place to have lunch and visit friends. The food is so delicious and the servers and staff are outstanding. There is a wonderful story to how this place got started and you must visit to hear the incredible and inspiring story for yourself. It is located on the Embacadero and the atmosphere is very pleasant.

While the soup was excellent the rest of our food was average. However, the experience was about more than the food. This is a marvelous training center where those working there are learning. We had a fabulous server with a great personality. I do recommend a visit because it benefits many!!

Food was ok but the service could be better. My salad and entree were brought to me at the same time. Once the server brought my food they never returned to check on me.

Went for my sisters 86th birthday. They have valet parking and that is so important in San Francisco. The waiters are from rehab. They did a great job. Nice food selection.

Everything we ate was yummy! My husband loves the ribs. They were accompanied by a huge amount of cooked spinach which he removed from the plate since he can’t stand the smell of it. I enjoyed his spinach though. Our waiter was working with a large group so there were a few times when we needed him but he was busy. He did eventually get to us. He was very kind and so was the rest of the staff. We ate inside since we were there for dinner and it was chilly outside but there are outside tables. The atmosphere was good and the dessert menu was huge. I had a large hot fudge sundae and my husband had the tiramisu-both were good. We definitely ate plenty of food that night!

I have lived down the street from Delancey Street Restaurant for 20 years. It has been one of my go-to places ever since. Mostly for dinner, and many times for brunch. The staff and service have always been amazing, friendly, and professional. The food always so tasty and high quality. And the prices so reasonable. For dinner, the menu options are plentiful. For starter, I love their Minestrone or Roasted Tomato Soup, or their Beet Salad. For entree, the Saltimbocca is one of my favorites. Another is their Ribs. Although all of the entrees are homeruns. I highly recommend Delancey Street Restaurant.

I was in San Francisco for a few days and discovered I was in the middle of a baseball game between dodgers and the giants. Decided on breakfast of a Bloody Mary and crab cake eggs Benedict. It was outrageously good. Sit outside and watch the giants fans. Chuck Evans

Pleasant atmosphere, excellent service, and good food at reasonable prices. Menu offers a wide range of options and all of it good.

We are visiting San Francisco and found this restaurant by chance online. All I can say is it was the best meal and best service we had our whole trip. We do not go for $$$$ restaurants which seem to be the norm in this city so we were super pleased to find this 5 star meal was $$ value! Our waitor Daniel Bostick was super polite, professional and friendly with great menu recommendations. The menu choice is vast and I'm sure all of it was delicious. We had 2X Gumpo (my first excellence of this dish and it was lovely) and desserts of Profiteroles and the hot fudge sundae. Absolutely gorgeous. These 2 courses and a beer were only $47 (only $4 a beer!). There is no doubt if were here longer or if we lived here, this place would be a regular haunt. Thank you for the evening and the memory.

I absolutely love Delancey Street Restaurant! The food is great, the view of the embarcadero is incredible and the staff is awesome. The breaded chicken sandwich is AMAZING. The sundae is out of this world. I can't wait to go back...

dining is very good, limited bar menu but otherwise a great time. Food was very good and service was excellent.

I have been many times and normally I love the food. The crab cakes were horrible. I ate a few since we were with friends and I didn't want to send them back. The chocolate mousse was very odd and not very chocolaty.

The renovation of this restaurant took way too long and I was afraid it would not come back. But it was worth the wait. On our last visit we enjoyed excellent mimosas and mai-tai's, and snacked on some lovely bagel chips. We then feasted on a tasty veggie eggs benedict and a well-prepared half-pound burger. The fries were good, too. A filling meal that cost around $50, a relative bargain given the high quality of the service and the view of the bay. If it's a nice day, sit outside and dine al fresco!

We've been to Delancey Street a few times, and they never fail to satisfy. The food is abundant, well prepared, and truly a bargain for San Francisco. Every dish we've had is great, and the service attentive and welcoming. Read their story.

Great restaurant, great service, and great story behind this restaurant. and very reasonably priced.

This restaurant is steeped in history. Check out The Delancey Foundation on Wikipedia. Then go here for a meal. Just make sure the Giants are not playing in town the day you pick this place. White tablecloth. Excellent service. Great food. Tip liberally. These people really really deserve it.

Very nice, clean restaurant. Staff is very polite and professional. The restaurant is in a very nice section of SF. The menu has something for everyone and the prices are so low. My only regret is that I was in SF for 4 weeks and didn't find this gem until I was ready to leave. I had a very nice lunch there and with tip was about ten dollars.

I have traveled and eaten in lots of places, and this was one of the best. The food was delicious, our waiter well trained and delightful, and the atmosphere relaxing. I love the history of this place. I will definitely return next time I am in SF.

We found this place on the cheap eats recommendations and we were not disappointed. The food portions were a great deal for the low price you pay compared to other restaurants around SF. The service was excellent and the room aesthetics were very elegant. My wife thought we were walking in to a fancy restaurant at first. This place is helping people who have had some bad luck get back on their feet. All of the proceeds and tip go towards the Delancey Street Foundation that helps people learn new skills and jobs to re-enter the workplace. Not only are you getting a fantastic meal, you’re also helping out the community. Try this place out.

We had dinner at the Delaney Street Restaurant and it was delicious. The menu selection was really varied and everyone in our group found something to their liking. I ordered the tuna which was a little underdone for me but the potato and green beans that accompanied it were great. The arugula and beet salad was tasty. We all ordered dessert and my cheesecake was excellent. The prices were very reasonable.

We go here occasionally for Sunday brunch and it's always a treat. Easy parking Great staff Great food No waiting. And, of course, great views of the Bay across the street.

The story of this restaurant made it a "must go" for me. Then we ate there - - really really good food; great service; the bar and mixologist were also wonderful. Such a joy to support the cause and be treated to such fine people and fine food.

Very nice food, lovely service, expansive space indoor and outdoor with some views of the Bay. Very reasonable prices! Quiet--soft music. It was perfect for a weekend brunch with old friends we haven't seen and with whom we wanted to catch up.

Although Delancey Street Restaurant has been around forever, we had never eaten there. The service was excellent as were our meals. The women had beet/arugula salads and I, Caesar. My wife's Moroccan vegetables, our friend's vegetable parmesan & my ginger/Teriyaki steak were all quite good.

We had Saturday lunch here while in San Francisco and it was by far the best meal we had that weekend. Service was great and they served you this thin cut bagels, toasted to perfection served with butter for an appetizer. This will be our new favorite place while in the city.

Let us put aside the human aspect of this restaurant: the food is very good, the wine is superb; waiters are very attentive, and, on top of all this, it is a quiet place, with a lot of space and no noise. The place to really enjoy a good meal, served by nice people.

Rainy, cold night in SF and we were pleased to see the restaurant open, bright, and cheerful with a table for us without a reservation. Delancey Street is a little secret gem. The menu selections are plentiful and varied. We had wine, appetizers, salads, with 3 of us having the fish of the day and the 4th having an Israeli specialty. Our wait staff was excellent. Very attentive, making sure we had enough water. Our waiter was very thoughtful in his approach, asking us how we would like the food delivered. Start with wine? Appetizers with the salads? You can tell they all desired to do an excellent job. I could also see that he wanted to make sure he was delivering the right food to the right person. Obvious to me that he cared and wanted to do a fine job. I will say that the food is probably average but the fact that the foundation helps individuals learn new skills with jobs readying them to enter the work place makes it all above average. The location is superb - easy to find and relatively easy (okay, it is SF!) to find parking. View of the water, Bay Bridge, etc makes it a special place. Affordable for SF prices. I'd like to come back soon and try lunch. Best Success to everyone affiliated with Delancey Street Restaurant!

A great place even for a Saturday brunch with delicious coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, and a highly recommended Eggs Benedict.

This restaurant is completely run from kitchen to waiters to front of house by people who are supported by a charity to get their lives back together for whatever reason. The ambiance is lovely, everyone is friendly and the food is the same quality as many San Francisco places but way cheaper (you can afford to eave a larger tip!!). Even the desserts are made by chefs on the premises. Located on the Embarcado close to the Giants baseball stadium make time to call in when you are in San Francisco.

There were 7 of us for a 70th birthday celebration. A physically really nice place. The service was friendly and really good. The food was quite good. I would go again and recommend it.

The food was delicious. The presentation was beautiful. The service was excellent. And the prices are unbelievably affordable. The pride and care the staff shows in everything they do is obvious. What can be better than getting a great meal while supporting a tremendous cause?

The conveniently located restaurant on the Embarcado looks quite unassuming but it is quite unique. While serving great food, the restaurant also serves as a training and support centre for people trying to get back on their feet. The prices are very reasonable for San Francisco, the service was good and the food was tasty.

The staff is helpful and wants to do a great job. The menu is full of variety - really there is something for every picky eater. The sit-down meal experience is super affordable. Support these folks, relax and enjoy a lovely view of the Embarcadero.

Great location for an early dinner or a late snack + drink as you come or go from ATT Park. This restaurant hits a "home run" on service, ambiance, food & beverages. We stopped in on the way to a Giant's night game and were very impressed by the high quality of service and the excellent food. Portions are just right and the prices are very reasonable for a first rate establishment in San Francisco. Our party had appetizers, pasta, fish, gumbo and a bottle of really good wine. We have also stopped after the game on several occasions and enjoyed "small bites" and again, very reasonably priced cocktails and draft beer/ales. We will definitely return! It's a great place to bring your "out-of-town" guests. The mission of the Delancey Foundation is to give back to the community by helping people turn their lives around. Inspiring on a personal level, it is serves as a model for the rest of the state & country. Don't miss this restaurant as it definitely "hits it out of the park"!!

A girls luncheon with good food, beverages of all types, and a nice bright setting. The service was excellent and we'll be back as it's for a great cause. The $4 valet parking was a bonus! Ans so was the Fudge Sundae!!

Always friendly and unpretentious service and excellent food. And a dessert menu that usually offers about 23 choices. Good anytime but especially convenient before or after an SF Giants game as Oracle Park is just about 3 blocks away. The staff are all from Delancey St. Foundation and all are doing their very best to build new lives for themselves after coming from troubled backgrounds. You would never know this without the back story as the staff is always at their best. Google them if you like but just as well to just come and enjoy the food and service. All this and very reasonable prices. And as a vegetarian there are a number of great options but they also have meat and seafood options.

Linen table cloths, nice atmosphere. Too loud to eat outside, BTW. We had the excellent Rueben and also excellent clam chowder.

Lovely dinner, pork chop with mash potatoes and snap peas, excellent like home cooked food. Ruby had salad and potatoes Nankes, like flat hash browns.....nice.

I visited this place with my dad and friend at the end of a 5-week trip in the USA, and to be honest: this was our culinary highlight. The service was excellent, from the moment we entered the venue until the moment we left. The atmosphere of the restaurant is chique, but in a good way. The waiters provide excellent and personal service and the food is delicious. I wished I ordered the large tomato soup instead of the small. And the deserts, wow! You see the twinkle in the eyes of the waiters when they tell you about the specialities, and after trying them you understand. An absolute must-visit when in San Francisco, can’t wait to go there again!

You can't beat the service here!! Food is good but the service is great and everything about Delancey is definitely worth a visit!

We had an early dinner there and had a great dining experience. The service was prompt and helpful. The food was delicious. It is close to the waterfront. There is outdoor seating. The prices were reasonable. The restaurant supports a worthy cause.

If you are in San Francisco you must make your way to the Embarcadero and stop in for some very good eats here. The service is super, great food and a touch of excellence on the deserts. The menu offers something for everyone, prices are moderate and the ambiance is San Fran! Would recommend for the family, friends gathering and the romance of the City.

Besides the great location, the food and drinks are delicious. It's very relaxed and classy at the same time without feeling like you're being rushed.

Delancey Street has been a favorite of ours for years now. Especially nice for large groups with varying tastes. The food is always good, though not great, and the decor is nice with a great view of the Bay Bridge; for prices not much more than a dinner at Denny's. Plus, it's for a great cause. You won't be disappointed I can assure you.

We stopped into this restaurant for lunch. We enjoyed the grilled cheese & tomato soup which was very good and the service was excellent. What’s even better if their mission to helps others. Make plans to visit this special place.

Excellent Service,Very tasty food, very little waiting time for food. Great prices. Nicely decorated, clean and tidy Very good

Went here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the great service, comprehensive menu and wine list, tasty food and excellent prices. San Francisco is so expensive and Delancey Street Restaurant is a breath of fresh air for your wallet.

Had a great family meal here before going to the ball game. Very well priced and great service. Bryan our server was great and extremely helpful. Happy to give a big tip for great food, service and a cause. Keep up the good work.

We had very good service and, delicious food. Our table was ready when we arrived and best of all, it's a restaurant where you can actually hear each other talking.

Service is excellent - from the moment you approach the door, to the wait staff and Front of House. All thoroughly professional. Great setting with inside or outside seating and gorgeous view. The food was good, not brilliantly great, but then that's what we wanted and they were spot on!

We found out from a local, that Delancey Street restaurant is giving folks a second chance to turn their lives around and learn a skill while doing it. I highly recommend that you give it a try - you won't be disappointed. The menu has a wide range of items on it to fit most everyone's eating habit and while we are not dessert eaters, they looked delicious as they were going by. This place has a very warm atmosphere and the history of the restaurant is printed on the back of the menu, so that you can get a better feel for their purpose.

The staffs let us in one hour before closing, which was nice. They also provided us with good service overall (although not exactly like professional hospitality staff). Food was good overall, even though my dish of 6 seafood scallops came with like a mountain of 700 gm / 1.5 lb of chickpeas, a bit random (see my photo).

My wife and I went there for Sunday brunch. The choices and food were excellent. The prices were very reasonable and the wait staff was very attentive. I had the mama’s omelette and my wife the French toast and they were both excellent. We also had the cranberry mimosa which was also excellent. Make it a point to stop here for a meal.

Lovely setting, $4 valet parking, good service, excellent food make this an outstanding SF lunch spot. Prices are also very reasonable. I had the Croque Monsieur, an excellent version with a generous portion of ham and nice Guyere cheese and a side salad (choice of blue cheese, balsamic, or oil and vinegar) for $11 served at a table with linen table cloth. My friend had the BLT with tomato jam. She said she loved it. Great taste and good value--did I mention the $4 valet parking? -what are you waiting for?

Wow, this place has a great location, great service, great food, reasonable prices, cozy atmosphere, great menu! It was time for my gal pals and I to get together for our quarterly catch up and our pal selected Delancy Street Restaurant which is a great cause to help people learn a trade and get a second chance in life. The restaurant is accessible by public transportation and I took Bart from the East Bay to Embarcadero Station, then went down the next level to Muni Metro to catch the N Judah towards the AT&T baseball stadium and got off at Brannan and Embarcadero. What's not to like as you walk into the restaurant and are welcomed with tables covered with white tablecloths and a very friendly staff. The menu for brunch was huge and we had to take a few moments to decide what to order as the prices are also very reasonable! We ordered the hamburger and fries, arugula and beet salad, roasted tomato soup, rib eye steak and eggs, chicken hash. My friends enjoyed their meals and couldn't believe the reasonable prices. Then we had such a good time chatting that we also stayed for dessert and ordered and shared the sweet potato pie (which came with a big dollop of homemade whipped cream), fruit tart, meringue Chantilly, profiterole which were amazing along with coffee! I'd love to come back here again and they take reservations

Incredible place to eat, great views out the window of Bay Bridge and the Embarcadero whilst eating lovely food off a quite wide ranging menu. Service was brilliant too, as polite and attentive as you could ask for. I'd return in a heartbeat.

This is always our "go to" place whenever we are in The City! Wonderful friendly atmosphere, great food and excellent service. And very reasonable prices. Calimari appetizer, scallops, salmon and pork chop were all wonderful! And do save room for dessert! Fabulous desserts made in the Delancy kitchen!

We never tire of going to dinner at the Delancey Street Restaurant near the SF Giants stadium and Mission Bay Medical Center on the Embarcadero. Had another wonderful dinner last night at one of our San Francisco favorites! The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. My wife has stringent dietary needs and they cooked everything perfect for her the first time! Hard to find excellent food when you ask the chef to make changes, but Delancey does it every time. I had the blackened Swordfish which was outstanding. Decent wine by the glass at very affordable prices for San Francisco. Wonderful history abut Delancey if you have never been there before. Easily 5 STAR for a moderate priced restaurant in San Francisco

A good cause certainly needs our support and despite mixed feelings about the wide range of TripAdvisor-ratings we can confirm that our expectations were exceeded. Good, solid food, lovely desserts and an attentative staff.

A down to earth, bistro like restaurant which did not seem all that appealing in the first place. I went there for a business dinner upon recommendation and discovered what this place is all about. The Delancey Foundation gives people who have gone astray a second chance. All workers in the place are former homeless, you would not tell! The food is good, the service impeccable, excellent value for money in SFO! To be visited if you get s moment.

We have been using this restaurant for over 10 years. Never had a bad meal or drink in that time. Great venue for city waterfront eating and beer selection. Used again today after being badly let down in Sausalito. We like it so much we crossed the bay to have dinner even with a game on at the AT&T Ball Park. Great service, friendly and good advice on the meal choices. We don't think many tourists know about the staff backgrounds which is great because they all seem to want to do a great job to please their customers. Tables were beautifully laid out with fresh flower vases. Nice touch. We will use again before we leave this trip.

Yesterday my partner and I were in the City on our way to a performance of Hat Matters without a solid dinner plan. And suddenly, we found ourselves in front of Delancy Street. Both of us had been wanting to try it forever; no debate, this was our dinner spot for the evening. We opted to sit on the patio with a beautiful view of the Bay Bridge and the boats and ships passing us by. As it was the patio and SF's weather is notoriously unpredictable, we hesitated just a moment about our patio choice. The staff offered to seat us inside, or if we weren't sure, we could try outside, and they would happily move us indoors if it proved too chilly..it did not! No surely waitstaff here; they bent over backward to accommodate us. Turned out the weather was lovely. For us, we were very impressed with the man who greeted and sat us (I did not catch his name) as well as both of the young men on the waitstaff who served us that are part of Delancey's incredibly successful rehab program. Both Ruben and Randy were very attentive and earnest in their work and had a great attitude. When we asked them about their favorite dishes, they shared that they had only begun working in the restaurant recently and had not yet earned money to buy the meals that the restaurant serves (which starts when you have 18 months sober in the program, Ruben will be there on 8/25..go Ruben! and Randy in about 7 months) Work ethic is a big deal at Delancy Street and likely a strong contributing factor to the longevity of the program and the restaurant (as well as their catering and moving businesses). For us, the staff was part of what made it a great experience, but we came in knowing the history and the success of changing lives Delancy is known for. A bonus for us was we ordered an appetizer, two entrees (do not miss the blackened meatloaf or the house-made ginger beer or anything on the dessert menu!)4 drinks, and 2 deserts and paid $70, all while sitting and watching the boats go by under the Bay Bridge. Also, the other customers seemed to be in on the positive atmosphere and were a pleasant addition to the already lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed it so much we are planning our next family birthday outing there! We left feeling very full and very fortunate it was a great beginning to a great night out in the City.

4 of came here after church. We were seated immediately outside on a beautiful day! I ordered the French omelet (excellent!) the others with me ordered steak and eggs, fruit smoothies and omelets. All very good! Total check was $56...a bargain in SF!

If you're looking for a reasonably priced dinner with a view of the bay bridge where you can actually hear the fellow diners at your table, this is the place. Friendly, efficient servers. Good food. They have a nice selection of local wines. We even ordered dessert which is something we rarely do so we could linger a little longer. Key lime pie, by the way was delicious.

What an amazing experience. Overlooking the pier, this restaurant offers at an excellent price a wide selection of dishes in a retro environment. The best deal you can imagine. STRONGLY recommended

As a customer service fanatic, I have been very disappointed with the level of service that exists in San Francisco. This place turned my view around. The team here are awesome, passionate about their roles and well informed about their extensive menu. Great job Delanceys - we ate here for dinner and brunch, both were very good. The serve sizes are generous.

We ate at this restaurant twice during our visit to San Francisco and if we visit the city again we will probably return.

I ordered the ahi tuna, my daughter ordered the honey glazed salmon. Her meal was perfect, my meal was over cooked. I was asked how I wanted the tuna cooked and told the waiter I wanted it lightly seared. It came to me lightly pink and mostly cooked. Disappointing but I didn't want to return it or my daughter would have had her meal all by herself. I enjoyed supporting the Delancey Street Foundation but may think twice about returning.

Food, atmosphere, and service were great. Prices were unbelievably reasonable for such a nice to eat. The six of us had appetizers, some cocktails, a main course and desserts (most of us) for $256, including tip.

Very good, excoelent service. Dessert was fine: Herbie's Sundae. Just outside tourist area on Embarcadero

We chose Delancey Street Restaurant for its patio to enjoy the beautiful day. It has a fantastic view. I ordered the Califlower spicy it was delicious. This is place where the prices are razonables compared with most San Francisco Spots . The services was impeccable. My husband and I feel that the Delancey street Foundation is doing a fantastic job and we like to suport it.

We "discovered" this restaurant as we were in the area. It has style and atmosphere. It is relaxed. Staff very friendly and profesional. Menu is not very big and is really more lunch style, but very good. Deserts fabulous. Price is very reasonable in comparison with SF downtown. I would recommend for Saturday or Sunday (or any day) lunch. I would check if some issue if there is a baseball match, ad stadium is near. Has valet parking at USD 4!!!

Named for the famous street in New York City. Neat back story. White linens but not at all stuffy or pretentious. Our waiter was really hustling and keeping his customers happy. Brisket Burgers are great. Matzah ball soup!
Great place.
Amazing service and good food. Food is tasty and reasonably priced. Service was attentive and response. We will definitely go back again.
