This was a very good sandwich, I had the bbq chicken sandwich and it was tasty and well made.Good portion size and filling. Good menu with veggie selections and meat choices too. Staff was helpful and friendly and the interior was inviting and I liked the casualness of this place and will be back. Restroom was clean when I was there.

We were touring the Pioneer square area and looking for a place to eat lunch and fell on this place because it seemed pretty popular. Service was really fast considering how many orders were going in. Both our sandwiches were big, the bread was super fresh and they were delicious! You can eat inside but we chose to eat in the nearby park.

... I would eat here every day. Very busy at lunchtime; I sat at the counter and could watch the hubbub. I ordered The Activist sandwich, a vegetarian option, and it was just so excellent. If only I could have had many more meals - everything looked good. I can't wait to return to Seattle to visit this place again.

While in Seattle, I met with a buddy and he recommended this restaurant. We went in for lunch and a brew. I ended up getting the Pavo Diablo. Such a grand amount of flavor! It came with a side of coleslaw that just made the sandwich better. If you’re in the Pioneer Square area, stop in and grab a bite!

Delicatus came highly recommended by my in laws, so I was looking forward to giving it a try on a trip to Seattle last year. Not only was it as good as I hoped, the place simply blew me away. They have a huge selection of sandwiches, many of which are unique combinations that made me want to come back and try them. Lunch was so good the first day that we came back the next. I will definitely be back next time we are in town.

we stopped at this most lovely restaurant after doing the underground tour . hold on to your saliva glands a meatloaf sandwich wrapped in bacon served on house made bread a cup of slow roast pork soup and a pint of ice .... cold beer .... yum yumm yum yum mmmmmmmmmmmmm bacon

My wife and I went here on a Saturday afternoon looking for some good food and drinks. We sat outside on the small sidewalk area and were very pleased by the scenery and people watching. We ordered Bloody Mary's and they were among the best that either of us had ever had. Very spicy. A definite must, if you imbibe. I had the Reign Man (roast beef) and my wife had the Reuben. Mine was good but my wife couldn't tell if she really got corned beef or roast beef, it tasted more like roast beef. Dinks and location were excellent. Food and service good (fast but forgot my side). A bit pricey but it is downtown Settle so about what you'd expect. I'd return if I am in the area again.

We ate here while we were in the Pioneer Village area of Seattle. My husband had the mole meatloaf sandwich and we shared the lamb sausage porridge soup. The sandwich was good. The mole wasn't bad, could have used more of it on the sandwich. However, the handful of chips thrown on the plate seemed like an afterthought. The soup was excellent - great combination of flavors.

When you walk in - prep areas are to the right. It looks like your deli that you would find in some of the finer grocery stores. My partner had the Antipasti Salad - which was field greens, other items, topped with cured (sliced) meats. I had the Californian sandwich, which was sliced chicken breast, bacon, spinach (other items) on whole wheat bread (I believe it may have been sprouted wheat). Excellent! With two iced teas - $25 including tip. Will return again.

I had the Reign Man which was very good including the bread which is where I find a lot of delis lacking. Wife got the large house salad and was happy. Wish I could go back and try some of the other sandwiches. Got the house cured pickles which were a little too sour for me and a lot too soggy for anyone. Waitress just attentive enough. Man that I perceived was the owner checked to make sure we were happy.

Stopped in Delicatus because of TA. Not disappointed. Service was great. Meatloaf soup, which sounded disgusting, was delicious. Sandwich was good, not the best I've ever eaten or anything but good. Fun atmosphere.

My husband and I visited Delicatus twice during our one week stay in Seattle. It was within a short walking distance of the Courtyard Seattle/Pioneer Square. We went there for dinner so I don’t know what the lunch crown is like. This is the best sandwich place EVER! I really wish we had awesome places like this in Baltimore. Each time the service was quick and very friendly. The sandwiches came out hot and wonderful. On our first visit my husband had the Chief Stealth Bomber and I had The Mudd Honey. Then on the next visit we liked each other’s sandwiches so much we ordered the opposite sandwiches. Fabulous!!!! If I lived in Seattle I would eat here all the time. It’s a must try if you’re in the area!

This is a great little spot. Delicatus believe in good food and add humour to their menu which I enjoyed. They specialize in amazing sandwiches: "The Traditionalists", "The Progressives" and "The Extremists" which describe a mix of ingredients that get steadily more adventurous. I opted for the meat and cheese board that arrived with almonds, hot hot chilies and really great chevre and chorizo. I was interested to see a lot of breakfast sandwich options that I will come back to try. On the drinks menu they have so many great choices that you don't see anywhere else: sarsaparilla, cock and bull ginger beer and many others. The deli is located on a busy cross road close to Pioneer Square so there is lots of good people watching to be done from here. They have seating outside and I felt as if the menu options were made from quality ingredients. The cheese and meat on my cheese board for example were fresh and not cheap tasting. My only complaint or grumble was that I couldn't get an espresso here (machine was broken they said) and the ice served in my drinks was not that clean but you should come here for the great food, avoid ice and enjoy a west coast deli sensation.

This is a neat and different place to eat. The long list of interesting sandwiches made for plenty to choose from and both sandwiches we had were very good.

Very happy second visit to this well located gem in Pioneer Square. The menu caught my eye last time with it's better-than-average ingredients and deeper appreciation this visit on a slower, off-hour weekend taste-treat! Elevated classic sandwiches, soups, salads entice from quality of bread, meats, accessories, sides and don not miss the authentic old/original interior, charming and knowledgable staff. Likely and soon to return!

I want to start by saying the food is really good! I ate here during the lunch rush for the first time which is a very busy time for most Seattle sandwich shops so I can understand longer wait times. The problem was we tried to sit upstairs but there was no seating so we grabbed a table that had just opened up on the lower level. We informed the guy cleaning off the table that we ordered or food for the upper level and asked if he could let the server know. The guy said "I dont think I can do that, we have rules (are you kidding me!!) and I dont think you can sit here". 5 min later a guy who I assume to be the manager steps up places both his hands on the table and angrily says "Im going to have to ask you to leave this area"and walks off. After finally getting a seat upstairs and waiting in total over 40min for our food which still hadn't arrived I asked a server if he could check on our food to which he replied "Im not allowed to, they would just tell me to shut the f*** up". This was at least funny to us although because of this experience I will most likely not be eating here anymore, too many other great places. Guest service needs to be evaluated along with your lunch rush seating issue. I understand the longer wait time for food but just because its lunch rush you dont get a pass on everything else. You deal with this every day at the same time....get a better system or maybe relax on the "rules".

Delicatus is one of my favorite spots for lunch in Pioneer Square. I have been several times and I have tried several different items on the menu. My favorites are the Gypsy Lee Rose and the Shank Lamb, which is everything that is advertised. Spicy, yummy, messy. All sandwiches come with chips. Eating in is a good option too. With table service, happy our, and a cool atmosphere. Try the Delicatus Mary, a Bloody Mary with Lamb Jus. Really good.

Split "The Mountain" sandwich with hubby. Excellent combination of meat and flavors. Truly delectable. Also ordered the natural whole pickle, but didn't care for the spices used to create the pickle.

Located about 15 minute walk from Safeco Park. Authentic deli serving fresh meats, chowder, nice wines, and local beers. The staff made us feel like locals. I loved the overall ambiance of the place. I wish we had more spots like this where I come from.

Went for lunch as it was recommended by underground tour guides as a family friendly place. Though the sandwiches had some great combinations, it took us 45 minutes to get our food (it didn't look that busy) the music was very loud upstairs so we couldn't talk, and it was not kid-friendly (nothing closely resembled food most kids would eat). They also had run out of lemonade (as a side note no diet coke either). That being said, if you don't mind sitting a while, sandwich selection is extensive and creative.

Super deli! Food was delicious, service was great! Huge variety of sandwiches. Filled up my 6'7" grandson! Now, that's hard to do! He loved it and so did we. Would definitely eat here again.

We stopped in for a drink and a snack. The staff was very friendly and we loved the ambience. An example of why you should stop in: after we left, we were two blocks away and we heard someone behind us trying to get our attention. It was a staff member who had not been our server who has discovered a package we had left at the table and ran after us to give it back to us. What service! I’m sorry we didn’t get his name. Such service is why this is a great place to stop.

We go here as often as possible! Service is fast and people are great. The Pavo Diablo and Mudhoney are our favorites, but everything is really good with fresh bread and quality ingredients!

Seattle magazinie March 2013 raved about the pastrami and corned beef "Mountain Sandwich" here. Anyone who has eaten real corned beef and especially real pastrami would be aghast at the review. It came on TOASTED rye bread. Sorry, this is a pedestrian place in a great spot near Pioneeer Square but the food was average at best.

Awesome place to eat great food. Good atmosphere. Definitely will return. Great friendly staff. Good range of sandwiches which are fresh and delicious

Do not go to this place. The rude sullen employees seemed annoyed I asked questions about the menu, then took 20 minutes to slap some cold cuts between nasty mushy store bought bread. When I tried to cut it in half, the bread ripped apart and it was clinging together by the crusts which were hard as rocks. The soup was slopped into cup messily and was cold. I asked them to heat it and was told there was no microwave so it would take a while. There was no line, they just did not have the slightest interest in getting my order filled or in helping me. This is a great example of why you don't tip before a meal. I want my $20 and 20% tip and my lunch hour back, and you three need to get out of the service industry.

Often my coworkers will venture to Jimmy John's or, eghad, Subway for a quick workday lunch. After coming to Delicatus for the past few months, I cannot even fathom how they could do such a thing! The same friendly faces behind the counter take your order with a smile, are quick to offer suggestions and wait times are very reasonable for to-go orders. You can dine in and have one of their many draft offerings with lunch, something I wholeheartedly recommend. I think my favorite thing about Delicatus (besides the bomb sandwiches of course) is the hometown Seattle feel about the place. It's become a staple in a rapidly changing neighborhood and it makes me happy I work out of Pioneer Square. It's a bit on the pricier side however the taste makes up for it. Would be nice if they threw a few more potato chips that come with the sandwiches ;)

Was here for a sandwich at noon. The quality and the taste was very good and service was good too. Had a good glass of wine. In short: excellent alternative for the usual chains and you'll get much better for your money!!!

Stopped in for a late lunch during a visit to Seattle. The service was friendly, the food was excellent deli-type fare. We walked by later in the day and people were having what looked like pre-dinner drinks and snacks. These also looked very good.

Found this place by wandering first ave. great sandwiches, great beer, personable staff, I'd recommend this to anyone. The beef dip is the best thing in the history of ever.

We just happened upon Delicatus while exploring Pioneer Square. Lots of folks were lunching there and that seemed to be a good omen. We were correct. This friendly and accommodating delicatessen serves fresh, well prepared food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed our pastrami and corned beef sandwiches on fresh artisanal bread. A request to serve a sandwich without bread resulted in an offer to convert the sandwich into a salad which turned out extremely well. Highly recommend Delicatus if you happen to be in Pioneer Square at lunch time.

ordered food the box was full of dirty greasy fingerprints and the dressing looked like mustard paste and it was supposed to be a balsamic vinaigrette. Took the food back and the person who told me he was the owner Mike Klotz and told me he would be glad to never see me in his restaurant again. A customer has the right to get their food clean and the right items. He seems to forget that the people that work in pioneer square keep his business alive. None of my co-workers will order from this restaurant. The owner is a complete jerk! You lost local customers that use to go to your place several times a week. The health dept should pay you a visit

I work around the corner from Delicatus, and I end up eating here usually at least once a week, if not more. I am picking the remains of the AL strong sandwich out of my teeth as I write this review. Quite simply, I love this place. The sandwiches are always delicious. The service has always been decent to excellent. It kills me that the crappy jimmy John's is across the street, and I see tourists go in there instead of enjoying the wonder that is Delicatus. Even when it is busy in here, you still get served quickly and get a great meal. I highly recommend this place, and look forward to my next sandwich there.

We were just walking past and it looked busy so we stopped. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, quick service. So many sandwich choices. We tried two and the were both delicious. Homemade pickles are a must try! Highly recommend.

I am starting to get WAY over the hipster vibe at Seattle eating establishments. These places are WAY full of themselves, as though they invented food. That being said, if you get over the 'tude, they do make a perfectly delicious, although expensive, sandwich. I have had the club and the corned beef, and both were very good. I will eat there again, and yes I will complain about the vibe and the 'tude and the price. But it was good, and that is not easy to find. Call ahead and pre-order for take out if you don't want to wait.

My aunt and I had an amazing lunch here. The menu is filled with such a variety of speciality sandwiches that it hard to pick just one. Delicious!!!

Unbelievable food and the prices were great. Will fly across Canada and make the drive down to Seattle to experience this place again excellent service and I can not say enough about the food. Get the potato salad absolutely loved it!!!!! Will be back!

If you take sandwiches seriously, then this is a must-visit place. If you wonder why other people wax lyrical about sandwiches, come here and find out. The quality of ingredients and the skill and care that go into preparing a sandwich at Delicatus is impressive. Grab one of the three barstools near the front door for a front-row view of the sandwich artistry. This is a very meat-centric place, but like almost all eateries in Seattle, a few vegetarian options are offered. Brunch is offered until 4pm on weekends.

This was a nice place we stopped in for a coffee and cookie. Was a great place to "people-watch" while you enjoy some coffee and rest up a bit before your next excursion

Small, fairly busy lunch bistro catering to tourists. Reuben sandwich had shredded corned beef in the minimal acceptable amount, no sourcraut, minimal mustard and offered potato chips or another "side". I asked for the coldslaw substitute and was not told that any side was $0.95 additional. I will not return.

We stumbled across this when looking for a lunch place and were very pleased. Delicious sandwiches, wide menu, beers on tap, friendly staff, quick service, interesting decor. Would recommend.

Wife and I grabbed outside seating on Labor Day weekend..wife had 1/2 Reign Man w/great French Onion soup, I had Occidental Dog. Just enough good food, fairly priced and a solid alternative to the dark old bars/fried foods common to the square. Recommended...!!

Had our Brunch here and was good. Nice location and good service from the staff. Nice to be able to just drop in as needed for a bite. Thanks

I had 2 mens here. Unfortunately, they don't see dinner. I had one lunch on the sidewalk and one meal inside. Both occasions the place was nots with sports fans heading for a game, but the service was nevertheless prompt and friendly. I recommend the oyster chowder and the ballard lox sandwich.

Delicatus was recommended to us by the tour guide at Bill Speidel's Underground Tour. A great variety of sandwiches on the menu that you could also have as a salad. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was delish! The best part however was the ginger beer (non-alcoholic beverage). SO refreshing on a hot day.

Something missing, creative sandwiches, nice decor, interesting menu. Not terribly clean, slow sandwich making, really slow. Servers are OK. Iced tea tasted like they made it last week.

My company hosted us and catered with Delicatus for an evening meeting. The food was excellent with multiple tastings of a good variety of small plate style dishes. Our group cleaned their plates as it were. The servers were efficient and helpful, clearly familiar with the items they brought out for us to try. The menu was good for both adults and children and the kids dug right in. Delicatus let us use their party room just down the street from the deli.

My daughter and her friends asked me to meet them here-and I totally walked by it about 4 times across the street when my daughter called me and started waving. Whoops. We sat outside at one of the bistro tables (it was great weather in Seattle-sunny and warm) and I ordered an incredible sandwich. It had prosciutto and other stuff and it was fabulous. The salmon chowder was awesome too. I'd ordered the clam chowder but they didn't have any but the wait staff was so endearing (and handsome, no lie) that I didn't feel slighted. I'm definitely eating here again when I visit my daughter.

We loved this place. The menu offers a great selection of original sandwiches and those we ordered were excellent. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous day. It's located just across from Pioneer Square, away from the main tourist area so much more tranquil.

We were looking for a spot for a tasty meal after our Underground Tour of Seattle. Are we glad we stumbled on this place!! They happened to be open late that Sunday evening since the Sounders had a home game. Delicious Dixon Club with potato salad and my hot date had a Mudd Honey with a side of chips. Hot date also ordered a specialty soda that was quite refreshing. Both sandwiches were spot on and I loved my potato salad while my date didn’t love me stealing his chips...they were good. Co-owner Mike greeted us and took us to our table - a nice cool evening it was a pleasure to sit outside and just relax. Inside bar is nicely tucked into the back corner. Pay them a visit - you won’t be disappointed!! Shout out to Philly!

Had lunch here recently and the sandwiches were excellent. Good quality ingredients on artisan breads. Very friendly service. It was very busy at lunchtime, obviously popular with locals on lunch break but we found a seat and didn't have long to wait. Highly recommended.

The music level allowed a decent amount of privacy in our conversation without being grating. The decor is humble, rustic, and very very meat based. Portions are substantial and serving staff was friendly and efficient. Excellent lunch. I'll definitely be going back.

Great sandwiches, service was good and fast but not rushed, and it was still pretty affordable. We've definitely had the best lunch in 4 weeks here.

We actually ate dinner here - excellent sandwich/soup menu and happy hour. Recorded music - nice variety.Old charming building - good service. Would highly recommend!

Most people know this place for its hand crafted, big meaty sandwiches. But not many know that its open for breakfast now. Great dish called The Mess and the french toast is almost a dessert. Its quiet on weekend mornings but you still get the ambiance of the storefront location in the middle of Pioneer Square.

I got the fire of 1889. The bread was too crusty for my liking and cut up my mouth. The meat was good but a little dry. I was hoping for something fantastic from this cool deli in Pioneer Square but was sadly disappointed.

We keep returning! My husband and I get to Seattle at least once a year. Yesterday we thought about this great deli and decided to do an online order to take with us to the ball park. Again, it was the best deli sandwiches ever! I keep choosing Pablo Diablo and he chose the Dixon Club. When we have dined in at Delicatus we have had inside seating and outside seating and both times were very satisfied! The drink choices are good too, with good microbrews and wines on the menu! Also my nephew is vegetarian and he orders many of the sandwiches and they give him a meatless version. Very accommodating!

Went to this restaurant after going on the underground city tour what a great place for lunch if you want a fresh sandwich with house-made meats and cheeses this is the place to go and they have a great selection of beers on tap. The menu is quite extensive.

After touring Pikes Market we were hungry so we found this cute little deli and stopped in. I had a salad, it was so fresh and the other members of our party had sandwiches - all delicious, We sat at a table with some locals who come a couple times a week to eat there and they were very friendly. After lunch we walked upstairs to the liquor store and purchased a bottle of WA wine for a family member back home. The clerk was very helpful in selecting a bottle of local wine.

Loved the variety of fine homemade sandwiches. Great spot for lunch and I imagine they get very busy with the delicious food offered and beer as well. Highly recommend if in the area for lunch.

Indoor & outdoor seating in this large establishment. Interesting menu names for dishes. The Chief Stealth Bomber with Dipping jus was unusual. Tender roast beef ( sadly not rare), sauteed onions, provolone, horseradish aioli( needed more !) on a toasted Italian roll. Tasted good...cold have been even better. Home made lemonade waas good.

Recommended to us ny Nick from Savor Seattle. Great choice for lunch if you are in the Pioneer Square area. They make a number of their meats in house. I had one of the pastrami sandwiches - superb. The slaw that came with it was also excellent. Service was excellent. You can sit inside or outside. You can't go wrong.

What can I say about one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The oyster chowder made me smile. If you are in the mood for deli food that makes you happy go here. My picture of the sandwich explains it all.

Good luck making a decision! There are sooooo many choices that we will need to come back again and again to try everything we wanted. The chowder was also amazing and so was the staff. Great experience!

Service was moderately slow, which was no big deal. What was a big deal was the sheer rudeness I witnessed towards other customers while I was there, specifically when staff thought no one was watching. I saw eye rolls when customers made requests when staff thought customers couldn't see, and I could hear staff talking sh*t about customers when they thought they were out of hearing range. Look, I've worked in restaurants for years, and I understand wanting to vent your frustrations when customers get to you, but you might want to keep that a little quieter. The food itself was nothing special. When I googled the name of this place I noticed it had a location close recently. If this is what the Pioneer Square location was like it's no wonder it had to close down. Somehow I doubt it was just the construction.

My husband and I wandered into this hidden place the other day. You can barely even see the restaurant name in the window! The waitresses were very nice and attentive, and the man making the sandwiches was very friendly, and personally made sure we liked our meals! The sandwiches here are not typical, they have a new spin on some old favorites. I got a hot pastrami, and it had jalepenos and pickled red onions on it! My sandwich was also the equivalent of two 6 inch subs from subway, so if you are hungry, this is the place to go! My husband got the Royal Bro-Ham and that looked really good. It had ham and orange bits in it, and it was oily, which means I want it next time :). It was really nice, and had a lovely, comfortable atmosphere.

We popped in here while in Seattle as we were filing time before our tour. We had time to grab lunch and were so glad we came to this Delicatessen. Both the food and service were amazing. I would highly recommend to others to try this place especially for lunch. While we were standing in line waiting for a table a man who was waiting for take out told us that he came here all the time and there was not a a bad sandwich in the place. ( he had tried most of them)

We had an awesome lunch here while walking through downtown Seattle. Mostly sandwiches...different types of fresh breads, veggies and yummy sandwich fillings to choose from. Recommend this for a quick bite to eat

Huge sandwiches, fun names, great staff, easy to get in and out for lunch but they have seating as well. Highly recommend if you want to have two meals (lunch and enough left over for dinner!)

Looking for a good sandwich and soup. Sandwich was pricey at $11 with bowls of soup going for $7 per bowl...Service was good....was there around 2pm on a Saturday and there were only about 3 other tables occupied.....I would go back...

The best sandwiches we've had in a long time, extremely fresh ingredients, great variety, and funny names! Try if you go to pioneer square! If going with kids make sure to tell them to take all the spicy ingredients off, even the bbq chicken has jalapenos.

A casual person on the street recommended this and we were not disappointed. As a matter of fact, it was one of the best deli sandwiches I've ever had in my life. The meats were incredible, the bread so very tasty and the sandwich combinations were divine. Great atmosphere.

This was a fantastic eatery that we almost passed over. At first glance you might think this restaurant is connected to the cool Italian desert place next door on the corner. It's not, but it is wonderful on it's own. I poked my head inside, but the restaurant seemed a little dark and not as inviting as the patio. To set the scene, it was overcast that day with ash floating in the air due to the fires that were raging some miles away to the north west. The friendly waitress came out right away with menus and explained the special of the day, which was some sandwich they had named the "Pompeii" because of the falling ash. Clever! My friend had the "Ballard Lox" sandwich and I enjoyed the 1/2 "Reign Man" sandwich and Clam Chowder. Delicious! We also enjoyed happy hour prices on our wine, but needed to cover our glasses with napkins to keep out the falling ash. The tree lined streets of Pioneer Square are beautiful and full of history. I will be back to the Delicatus to enjoy another unique and wonderful dish!

We stopped here for lunch after our Segway ride, great food and great service. The menu offered something for all of us. Their soup was delicious and the sandwiches were made with fresh breads and meats. Would definitely recommend if you are in this area. Plenty of room, didn't feel crowded and noise level was low.

We stopped in before a Seahawks game to grab a quick bite to eat. Boy were we pleasantly surprised by the food. Their breakfast sandwich was AMAZING! Cooked perfectly, it was delicious. I would highly recommend stopping by when you are in the area.

The staff were great, really helpful and informative about menu and drinks. Asked for an off menu drink and the guy was happy to make something up for us. The atmosphere is nice and the place has a good buzz about it. I would have liked to have seen a bit more in the way of non meat items on the menu - I think from memory there was 2 fish items and 1 veggie, however the menu is vast and I still got something really enjoyable so no big problem.

My husband and I were in town visiting some family and spent a day just roaming around the city. We wanted to be sure to eat somewhere great for lunch and came here. We were not disappointed! Sandwiches were interesting and fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return!

On our way to the Mariners game and decided to drop in. There was a Sounders game as well and the servers had some small Sounder adornments. Love the old style high ceiling venue. One friend started with the oyster chowder which soon disappeared. I had the mudd honey a nicely stuffed turkey bacon with a spicy edge. My other friend had a breakfast sandwich. We ate half and they cheerfully wrapped up the other half to take to the game. Service was very friendly. I will come back to try the Reuben.

Too often the focus in a sandwich is the bread and then you fill up on the carbs and the fillings are lost. Delicatus knows what they are doing. Just enough bread to hold the contents together, a tuna sandwich that had fresh grilled tuna, lamb braised in a slight harissa sauce. Fantastic food, WELL DONE!

I work in the area so I go to a variety of places for lunch, but this is my go to place. The sandwiches are freaking amazing. I especially like the duwamish. Also, like them on Facebook and you'll see when they special sandwiches for that day, which are always creative and delicious. Try and get there between 11-11:45am to avoid the usually busy lunch rush.

For lunch Delicatus offers a chalkboard full of delicious hand-made sandwiches in an environment that feels as authentic a setting as one might find in Manhattan, Philly or any other city known for putting great stuff between two slices of bread. It is a welcome addition to Pioneer Square, which is slowly adding more reasons to visit. The establishment is understandably busy offering take out as well as dine in. The line moves quickly for the former and there is plenty of seating for the latter. The staff s friendly and does a great ob keeping things moving.

Fresh 1/2 sandwich yummy chowder combo. We picked it up to go, but it would have been alright to sit and eat. There is outdoor seating too! Fast and friendly service.

We went here for lunch because the nearby hotel said it was the best place in the area for soups and sandwiches. They were right! We shared the Meatball sub and the portion was plenty for 2. Fast service and cold beer made for a great lunch. If you are in the area be sure to check them out!

Friendly casual deli excellent ambiance amazing sandwiches and selection if beers. Freshly made food by funky staff and excellent service we loved it and get there early before the business crowd lunch rush.

I went with 7 other people, service was quick, large selection of sandwichs and salads. Huge sandwich portions. Everyone loved their order

Was out in Seattle for a couple of weeks, and my coworker and I decided this will be the steady place to have lunch, it was that good! We always ordered takeout, and we try to get there before noon before it gets really crowded and crazy. I simply love the variety of delicious sandwiches that they have! I loved the Gypsy Rose! The staff are friendly too. The chefs ask you what you want before you even order and opay at the register, so that they can get a jump on creating your sandwich! Never even saw that done before!

This Deli was recommended by a local hotel front deskman and he was SO right. THE LOCALS ALWAYS KNOW. We ate here twice in one day just to try something else! Mike at the bar was a great help!! Great bartender but Ask for his advice if you have trouble selecting one of the countless things that sound good! My husband had a Meatloaf sandwich special for lunch (it comes with a wide variety of sides) and I had the Oyster Chowder and a salad...any deli sandwich can be made into a salad if you prefer-I got the Pavo Diablo made into a salad. There are daily specials to give the expansive menu more options. Huge portions and so tasty. Everything is made there and is fresh. They have an outdoor sitting area(small) and larger inside with a bar area too. Very busy for lunch BUT the staff is very efficient and move very quickly so WAIT. The Rueben was fantastic and a man sitting across from us had a Pork chop dinner that smelled awesome. Everything is marinaded, seasoned, baked or smoked to perfection. The atmosphere is comfortable and seems to be a local stop prior to going to the ball game since Safeco Field is a short walk away. They have been open about 2 yrs Mike said and I hope they stay! If we lived in Seattle, we'd be in regularly!!

Outdoor seating, good menu and service in Pioneer Square area. We both had delicious sandwiches, good coffee, etc. Reasonably priced.

We stopped in here on a beautiful Sunday morning while exploring Pioneer Square. We initially sat outside, but the sun got a bit too warm and they happily accommodated us moving indoors. The food was fresh and good and the service was good. Casual vibe and good eats....glad we stopped in.

We felt lucky to get one of maybe 5 outdoor tables here on a sunny day near noon. Good service, great people watching, tasty food. Nice setting if sitting along a busy, loud street (think Italy w/o horns honking) is your thing. Pat's BL-"something"-T was very good despite the bread not being toasted, and my Activist sandwich likewise, except for the roasted eggplant being not fully cooked. Eggplant well roasted needs to be a bit like pudding so the lush, rich flavors come out -- rare eggplant has a sour or gnarly taste I can't imagine anyone enjoys. That, and my wife's short pour in a thick-walled flat-bottomed toothbrush glass of not particularly good cab blend for $8, are the reasons this visit wasn't excellent. We'll eat here again on a sunny day if we're in the area, but she'll try iced tea or something.

What a wonderful place for lunch with friends. The place has character and serves great food. Beware! You may not be able to finish your sandwich on your own. And they are not serving just large meals, they are serving quality cuts, select cheese and fresh ingredients. All of these at a great price. It is becoming a weekly stop for lunch. Eigth blocks walk worth every step!

The sandwiches looked delicious but they offer not gluten free options and when I dare asked for such an option the waitress was so rude she took any possible joy out of any dining experience to be had at this establishment. With the number of great restaurants in the area, I would truly pass on this one.

This was a great place for us to stop & eat lunch. Crowed, but we found a place upstairs. Warm & welcoming. If you sit upstairs, you have to place your order downstairs. But they bring it to you. It was great casual fun with good food!

We had great sandwiches here, really liked the place

Hubby and I took the Light Rail from downtown into Pioneer Square to check out the history. We of course were hungry when we got there, but the Seahawks were in town so everywhere was packed. We cruised past this little place and took a seat on the patio. The service was fast and attentive, and the menu selection was huge! From traditional sandwiches, to less traditional, and what they called "radical." I got The Mountain, which had corned beef and pastrami with slaw on rye--it was amazing. Hubby got something called Honey...with turkey, ham, and BBQ. He devoured it. Served with handmade chips and not a chain soda company to be seen, this place has s full bar and serves all Jones sodas. Price was reasonable and we had a great view of Pioneer Square.

Whenever I'm in Pioneer Square and craving a sandwhich, this is the place to go. One of the best deli's in town. Flavorful sandwhich combinations, great meats, wonderful bread pairings. The Oyster Soup is also really delicious. They even have a bar hidden in the back, so if you're craving a boozy drink with your sandwhich, you're in luck.

The food was excellent. Salad for my husband and tuna salad for me. The service was great. But the music blaring above our heads made the experience less than excellent.

Excellent sandwiches - try the LambShank (excellent) or the daily special. Prices are very good, the atmosphere is great and the food superb. One of Seattle's gems - highly recommended.

We ate a great sandwich, fresh toppings, delicious, close to street and city buzz, I loved the recommended local lager.

We didn't even get to try their food, because we left after we tried Irish coffee, which was horrible, whip cream on that tasted like sour cream...waitress was so slow, not only she didn't come to check with order, but chatted around with staff, they didn't even know the name of the soup of the day. So our experience was negative.

This is a great little restaurant situated on 1 st Avenue beside pioneer square. The interior is genuine old fashioned and has some fascinating pieces of original decor. Its a busy little place with very friendly staff and great food . My roast beef with horseradish sauce sandwich was the best I have ever eaten ,simply great. The atmosphere inside is really relaxed and very friendly, I loved it! A word of caution though,be careful about sitting outside . Pioneer square is full of homeless people and if you sit outside you are continuously pestered by beggars . This is a big problem in Seattle and its common everywhere . It really was a great find and I will definitely return tp Delivatus next time I am in Seattle.

We stopped in to grab a coffee one morning. The staff was very friendly and welcoming even though we could see they were all busy prepping for the upcoming lunch rush. We sat inside because it was a little breezy that morning. The outside seating looked out on Pioneer Square and it would have been great on a warmer morning. We decided to come back for lunch and had a great meal. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Seattle !

I stopped by for lunch and ordered the large kale caeser salad with chicken. Total cost after tax was $14. Unfortunately the salad is pretty one note. Chicken and croutons were bland. I wish I took a picture before mixing, but there was just the tiniest sprinkle of Parmesan on top. Dressing was okay, very thick without a lot of flavor. Pretty disappointing salad, especially considering the price. Lesson learned, avoid the salads.

Ate here while in a hurry. shared a spinach and warm chicken salad. was very good but had to gobble and run so didn't have time to savor. need to revisit.

They try...but it's just not there. Place has the feel of a real deli but food lacks punch. Had the east coast something...suppose to be pastrami but came out over cooked with roast beef in the mix. Mustard and pickles institutional...just not a 'deli like I'm a custom. Friend had a turkey club said it was ok. Service friendly and prompt and prices not bad. We took a sausage sandwich to go...forget the name...nothing to rave about. The place is packed so they are making locals happy so I guess that's all that counts. But their food would get 'Chopped' if u know the show.

Great food, great service and atmosphere! We liked it so much that we went back before we left Seattle. Can't wait to go back again!

This was a return trip and everything was terrific. From the service to my entree to the chowder it was all prepared freshly and we'll made with a pleasing odor aroma and nicely presented appearance all with a great taste full of flavor and delicious. The bread was fresh and the ingredients ample with enough filling yet made carefully so you can taste the specific individual ingredients. Nice music playing and plenty of selection on the deli and sandwich heavy menu but soups and chips and salads are available as well as one can sit inside or outside and as well take out is available. Efficient and fast attentive service without bothering my table and plenty of seating. I'm glad I made a return trip here.

Four of us had lunch...wonderful sandwiches! The oyster soup was delicious and unlimited Jones cola refills. The menu is entertaining...spend some time just reading the descriptions!

Excellent selection of hearty sandwiches, including traditional sandwiches to more unusual choices as well as vegetarian. My husband had the soup of the day with his sandwich, which was a vegetable bean soup, and it was quite good as well. They also have oyster stew on the menu, Sandwiches come with chips, but you can upgrade to soup or Cole slaw. Smaller selection of salads are available if sandwiches aren't your thing. The place is a bit small, although there is seating upstairs and a few tables outside. Great place for lunch if you're in the Pioneer Square area.

I work on First Ave. in Pioneer Square and this is by far our favorite lunch spot. The sandwiches trump any of the East Coast deli style shops I have been to. The meats, vegetables and breads are of the highest quality. I was surprised that there weren't more reviews about them on Tripadvisor since they are so busy every day. They open at 11:30am and I usually show up as the clock hand clicks over. If you go at noon or later the line is to the door, especially on sunny days. Their soups are always delicious and have that home-made feeling about them. Never had anything there I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Every sandwich I have ever eaten there has blown my mind, but my repeat offenders are the Pavo Diablo, Shank Lamb, and the Fire of 1889. Good gawd these ones are good and just talking about them has me hungry. I have had the Mudd Honey that the other reviewer talked about and it is delicious too. Highly recommend this place. Most sandwiches are $8-$9 and huge. The drinks are all delicious sodas like Nesbitt's Orange, Bulldog Rootbeer and Sioux City Sarsaparilla. "Ya, that's a good one" - The Stranger from Big Lebowski

Forget your tourist chow . Come here . Great cozy space to enjoy a sandwich a beer . The Seattle Cure is excellent if you are looking for a fish sanwhich . I wish they'd stay open but that's just more reason to get here earlier .look forward to future visits

We stopped in for a late lunch after a downtown Seattle tour and boy did we discover a great find. The menu had several fantastic options for lunch sandwiches; it was hard to choose. I had a French dip type sandwich with soft but slight crispy bread that was ro die for. My wife had a spicy pork with some jalapenos that was delicious. We even saw our tour guide, a local, eating there. Always a good sign. I will recommend to others.

Sandwich and soup were both excellent. Cute outside seating on 1st in downtown Seattle. Great selection of sandwiches. Nice selection of wines. Service could have been better.

I'm a local and used to work a block away from Delicatus. I now work a good 10 blocks away, but I still walk to Delicatus every month or two. Their sandwich selection is unbeatable and every sandwich is amazing. I must recommend the Chief Stealth Bomber - roast beef, caramelized onions, horseradish aoli with au jus... best sandwich ever!

I ordered a sandwich with the wood table brisket pastrami in it and was disappointed. The meat was incredibly tough and chewy. It was difficult to eat, having to tear instead of chew. The toppings in the sandwich were fine, but I expected a better experience given all of the positive reviews. My wife ordered the Mud Honey sandwich. While it was better than mine, it was dripping with bbq sauce so that's pretty much all you tasted. The menu was extensive; I guess we ordered the wrong things.

We wrapped up a Mariner's game and then wanted to grab a bit while waiting for the "March To The Match" by the Sounders' fans. We peeked in this place and met some friendly faces and decided to stay. We sat outside and looked around at the other diners' plates. It is always a good idea for us to look at items being served to see what we want. The Brodie sandwich caught our eyes and we both ordered it. Goodness, it was tasty! Poblano peppers, spinach, avocado, sprouts, cucumber and some other items. What a lovely evening spot by the park and you can just enjoy good food and the pleasant staff. Blake was our server and was attentive, but not overly so and made sure our meals were perfect. As we were leaving, we just had to buy a couple of the great cookies by the cash register. Soft, tasty and just the right size. We will be back when we are in Seattle.

Good quality sandwiches and convivial atmosphere. Few tables outside to be part of the scene. Stays open late for baseball game nights. Watch all the fans stroll by a stadium is a few short blocks away.

Our underground tour guide recommended this deli. We had the meatball sub which we share along with some chips and potato salad. The sandwiches are big, so you can share if you’re not totally starving. They have a few good local beers on tap too.

great food here for lunch - they specialize in sandwiches - try the MUDD HONEY. Also, excellent is their warm chicken salad - so much food I almost couldn't finish it. Come early - it fills up. Full bar.

Awesome sami's and a fun menu in Seattle's Pioneer Square. Bonus points if you can sit outside on the sidewalk if it isn't raining!

Stayed just around the corner at the Best Western, and so lucky to have this nearby. Visited twice. Fantastic, stylish toppings on bread. If this were in London it would be packed to the rafters every day. Soooo un-American!!!! Well worth the walk along 1st Avenue, even if you are at the other side of town.

Met some family for lunch here. Sat by the window and had a great time. Food was incredible, service was friendly, good environment.

Order at the busy counter, and find a seat if you can. Food was average to good, but I got the wrong salad. Friendly staff. Located right at Pioneer Square.

Son and I loved this small break from the action in easy to get to spot. Sandwiches were tasty and sufficiently portioned. Wines offered by the glass and bottle sales avail. Staff helped us figure out places to watch a game. Charming and good.

You can't go wrong stopping at Delicatus for a meal or snack. Our stop was for lunch, but you can't go wrong for brunch or dinner if you are in the Pioneer Square area. The menu contains lots of winners and many inside jokes - "The Activist" Sandwich may make you want to tie yourself to a tree for example! Our choices, The BBQ Chicken sandwich and Gypsy Rose Lee, both featured very fresh ingredients, tasty BBQ chicken, and both were big but not so big that you think you should have shared the sandwich. Even better, you can order menu items to go, or just the fixings and make it yourself. Outdoor seating is great for people watching!
Great food in good location
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. With so many options we each ordered something different and shared (as did many other diners) The menu provides very detailed descriptions of the sandwiches and salads, Just reading them is mouth watering! I am not a beer drinker but my husband really enjoyed trying all the local brews. The location is at Pioneer Square just across from Underground Tours visit if you have a chance you won't regret your choice.
