its good when your tryingto catch dinner before a concert and they're open open till 1am on fridays and sats, i think

We enjoy going here once in a while when our Greek comes out. It is very good and you don't worry about service since it is counter order. Our visit last week convinced me that we need to come more often.

Very casual, order at the window and they call your number when it's ready. Food is fresh, made to order (except baked casseroles) and always delicious. Service is friendly and accommodating if you need a substitution. I love the Greek music in the background and the hand-painted decor.

Located on Blanco Road I stop by there every couple of months as it is located right between my hairdresser dresser and favorite clothing resale store. Have been ordering the gyro sliders, just enough to satisfy my appetite, inexpensive, too (good thing as I will have spent all my money at the hairdresser and clothing store!)

I can't get enough of the baclava, the gyros too!

Food is cafeteria style, poor quality. No service. Restaurant needs to be cleaned and renovated. Went on night with belly dancers as entertainment. That was a farce.... Their idea of belly dancers was a local dance class of very overweight has beens that thought they could dance. One dancer weighed at least 350 pounds. Dining experience was a waste of time and a big rip off. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Cavernous café style diner serving all the usual Greek staples. We had a vegetarian mezze and very good it was too. But it was the glorious Retsina that made the meal! Why more Greek restaurants don't have it on their wine-list I will never understand but this well priced bottle went down a treat! Service was friendly, our dishes arrived promptly, the servings were generous and it was all very reasonably priced. Nothing exceptional but would certainly eat here again.

The lunch special is good and the crowd is never that bad so getting in and out within an hour is very do able.

My friends were all very happy with our meals, but I wouldn't say it was anything special. Typical Greek fare for a decent price.

Was not a big greek food fan, but now all has changed. The food here is great. Dolmas great(stuffed grape leafs) I enjoy the caprese salad is one of my fav....

The food here is good but the place could use a good cleaning. It wasn't dirty but it wasn't spotless. It might be because it's an older building. My wife and I enjoy eating here and the food is pretty consistent! The gyro sandwiches are great; classic cuisine.

I've never had anything not great here. Love the combo plate big portions great value. Best Greek in San Antonio

With the reviews in the guide books and papers, we expected a sit down regular restaurant. instead you order at one side of a counter and then pick up your food on the other. The food itself is outstanding as you would expect from being opposite a Greek orthodox church. However the staff spoke mostly Spanish and had a very hard time understanding our order in English. Instead of getting a mezze platter of spankopita, tiropita, and grape leaves, we got a "peasant basket" of pita bread. We did get them to change the order and give us what we ordered but si usted habla espanol, es mejor.

The place has different Greek food. The lunch combo is a great deal. The meal comes quick, and is a self serve restaurant which you done everything by yourself. The lamb was delicious.

YUMMY! We love this place. Great food, love the salads, desserts. We eat there often. Occasionally they offer entertainment with Greek dancing.

Demo’s exceeded expectations, especially in TexMex land! Certainly not like your Greek neighborhood gyro back East, but quick, popular and delicious. The gyro sliders were excellent. The indoor outdoor selection on a nice spring day made the experience. Parking was tight.

I've had better greek food at Papouli's than here. It's always quiet and service is weird. Drinks are a bit flat too. I would avoid if possible.

Visited this restaurant several times over the years. It's an Americanized version of a Greek restaurant. Gets busy during lunch and makes me miss Greece and even Chicago and Detroit and their original flavors found there more. Not expensive and good enough for a quick bite with plenty of parking.

I love Greek food and they don't fail to please with their "take-out" type menu... very casual, great for lunch and wonderful murals painted on the walls!

Pretty good moussaka, although not as much eggplant as I had expected and fairly small portion for the price. Gyro platter was tasty, but also a tad light on volume of meat for a "platter". The combination platter of pastichio, tiropita, spanakopita, and moussaka with Greek salad was also tasty, but overpriced, with more iceberg lettuce than all other components combined. Nice pastichio. Good food, but unreasonably expensive for the portions served.

gyros are always excellent and lots of choices offered. Good Greek food, the ambiance at the N. St. Mary's location is a little lacking....lots of greek music but not a lot of patrons each time we go.

Was awesome as always the best Greek in Texas. Great food beef Souvlaki, awesome Red wine, and great service.

This place was very good! We weren't looking for this place specifically, we were looking for anything not serving Mexican food on our way out of town. We got lucky. Atmosphere is quaint and casual. It is nice and clean. I had the falafel pita and fries and I ate every last bite. I would definitely return if I lived in San Antonio!!!

I'd much rather eat at John the Greek, but since I was near buy I thought I would give them another try and was reminded why it had been 5 years since I had last eaten there. It seems that in San Antonio Greek food is only done well in small family places like the since closed "It's Greek to me" and John the Greek.

As always we had a great meal. I had the chicken and lamb and the wife had the gyro and a Greek salad. (The lettuce in the salad was a tad bitter). I love their baklava! Regretfully the service left a bit to be desired...

Very good, casual place. Food is - what's the word? - savory. This is a place your order at the counter and pick it up when they call your name. Gyros are my personal fav, also their Demo's platter is also excellent, giving you a bit of all the Greek favs. Across the street from the Orthodox church, it's a great setting on St. Mary's. Do NOT confuse this with their Northside location, which is far less charming. They used to have belly dancing on the weekends, but not sure they still do that.

The atmosphere the food the staff - all amazing. The salad the tzatziki the gyro the chicken the beef souvlaki all so super delicious! The baklava the dolmas the selection of Greek Wine! The ambience the music... we love Demo’s Greek Food!!!! Highly, highly recommend ❤️

Same great food we have come to expect. Seem to enjoy it more each time and we visit. I nearly always get the double deluxe gyro. Enough meat, lettuce and tomato to make two wraps , but I usually eat on to with a fork until I can hold it together to finish as a sandwich. My daughter love bed the pastichio. Usually an enormous slab of macaroni, meat, cheese, and savory custard topping. Dieters chicken souvlaki plate is always good as well. Friendly service always . Very close to Trinity University and my daughter's apartment. Recommended.

Not fancy order at counter then pick up but food is good and reasonably priced Good parking and souvlaki was delish Casual

I stopped by for dinner carryout and my initial impression was good; parking was easy, the place was very clean and the staff members were VERY nice. I was there just before 6:00 and there was a band setting up. The food took a reasonable amount of time and the guy who gave me my bag even repeated my order before he handed it to me. We ordered a gyro, falafel sandwich, and spanakopita. After we got home we discovered there was no falafel in the falafel sandwich...pretty much the secret to its success. So we just had some lettuce, tomatoes, and peppers in pita for one of the sandwiches. The gyro was very, very good. I'm sure if I had called or gone back to the restaurant, they would have fixed the order, but we were already back to the hotel and I didn't want to go back out.

The lunch special with a drink costs approximately $10 which is a mini Gyro, small fries, small Greek Salad, and a drink. The food was good but not great. The fries were real potatoes which I like--the skins were stil on them. There was a big military lunch crowd and if the bottom floor fills up (it's two stories) I found out that they prefer the extra people sit outside versus upstairs. Onsite parking is very limited.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Love eating here. The food is so good and flavorful. Moderately priced. You won't be disappointed.

The food was dry and they were stingy on the meat serving. For the price I payed I would expect not to leave hungry, but most of my meal was a head of lettuce. The price would be on par with a sit down restaurant, but this was like a deli/fast food setup.

We LOVE Greek Food! Hit Demo's every few months when visiting my daughter in SA. She loves the Pastichio here and has even learned to make a pretty incredible version of her own at home. My wife usually has the Chicken Kabob Dieter's Plate and an Avgolemeno Soup. I stick primarily with the large Gyro Wrap & Fries. Lots of meat on the wrap with lettuce, tomatoes and tzatziki. Really good fries and I love the pickled peppers. Good Food . Somewhat expensive, but consistently good quality. Friendly service.

Favorite greek food in SA

I have been to this restaurant (not by my choice) a bunch of times and every time I have been disappointed by the food. I believe it is over-priced for what you get. I am a feta lover and am ALWAYS disappointed by the lack of feta on the salads and meals. The salad is 99% iceberg lettuce (possibly the most boring lettuce out there), one olive, one tomato slice and what must be equivalent to 1/2 teaspoon of feta. I have had many things there and have always just thought 'eh'. It is frustrating to pay so much for so little taste. On a positive note, I do like their tzatziki sauce.

While visiting with my team in San Antonio they decided to go here for lunch. This place is very good and I would definitely go here again. The food was tasty, portions fair, and they were fairly quick especially during lunch.

Always steady, fresh and tasty. In the many, many times we have frequented Demo's, the deluxe Gyro never disappoints!

I can't say I didn't like Demo's, but it wasn't terrible either. Maybe I'm just not the biggest Greek food fan? The staff was nice though, and the place was fairly clean when I was there. It's missing something, just not sure what that is.

Not the best, gyros were a little bland. I prefer Mina and Dimi's.

My friend and I had the souvlaki plate, one beef and one chicken, and both were delicious, well seasoned and tender and you get two skewers. It comes with a Greek salad and pita and don't miss the taziki. At about $15 I think this is a reasonable price for skewers of all meat with no filler vegetables. They have wine and beer as well. The place is decorated nicely with flowering vines painted around the large windows and blue checked table cloths make it welcoming and cozy, plus there are black wrought iron table and chairs outside under blue umbrellas. A nice place for a casual meal.

This casual Greek restaurant, right across the street from the Greek Orthodox Church, had fast service and good food. Between the three of us, we had the beef, the chicken, and the lamb. All the meat was tender and flavorful. It was quiet when we were there, great for conversation. I noticed that later at night they have live music. The decor is colorful yet peaceful.

This Greek Place offers excellent Food. You order on the counter, pay in advance, seat and wait for your name to be called. A corner on 5 road intersection. A casual place. Food is great

Loved the food but the orices seem a bit high for what you get. Still, with that being said, you will not find as good of Greek food anywhere else in SA, at any price point.

Consistently excellent food and friendly service. We have been a number of times for lunch or mid afternoon meals. This time got there about 40 minutes before closing. Food and service were both still very good. Two of us had platters ; two of us had wraps with their fresh cut fries. Lots of food for a hungry family. Super friendly staff, even at closing time. We always leave happier than when we arrive! VIVA DEMOS !!

Really REALLY good order the gyro with fries.

I have always been a Fan of this well established Restaurant. Recently had out of Country guests who I took to dinner. Mortified when the food was cold and had to returned to be properly served. A Feat that took 15 minutes. What a shame.

Demo's in San Antonio is one of the best Greek restaurants around. It is quick and has many healthy menu items. Whenever I travel to S.A. I stop in to get a quick bite.

Since we were stationed inTurkey at one time, we really love the Gyros. This is our favorite Greek place in SA. Not fancy, but very good.

Went to dinner friday and was appalled at the service!!! Went with my roomate and son. My son ordered a regular gyro with motzerrella. The lady at the counter asked if we wanted the cucumber sauce on the side and he said no on the sandwich. Well for whatever reason he did'nt like the way the sauce tasted so he asked me if I would take it back and ask for another one. Well when I take it back the cook and front counter person start arguing with EACH OTHER about whatever in spanish and finally the front counter person says "we'll re-make it but with less meat and cheese"....... And sure enough when we get it, it is the MOST PATHETIC gyro I have EVER seen!!! I am truly dissappointed. And one other observation... In all the times I've eaten there it seems that the crowd keeps dwindling. It used to be packed on a friday night, but on this friday at around 6 pm there was one table of about eight and ours of three... Perhaps it's because the staff is very rude???

First the taziki is made with sour cream instead of yogurt. I have been to Greece on several occasions. This does not do Greek food justice. I observed an employee in the restroom wash his hands for maybe five seconds. I am not sure if he even used soap. Then he went right back into the kitchen. In the food industry basic hygiene procedures must be followed. When I see basic stuff like this, makes me wonder what else is actually going on.

always great and you can take your dog and eat on the patio...

We dined for the first time at Demo's Greek Restaurant on our trip to San Antonio and thoroughly enjoyed the Moussaka and Gyros! Loved the Tzaziki Sauce and Baklava!! The restaurant is very casual and a great place for lunch that we just happened to stumble upon. It was a real pleasure dining here!

Having recently moved to the area, we have been on the lookout for some great Greek "cooking," and, boy were we lucky to find Demo's. The gyros, moussaka, spanakopita, etc. are exactly what we have been craving since moving from Dallas & Chicago. Three locations, We've been to two, and both visits were, happily, exactly what we were hoping for in our quest for authentic Greek fare. OPA!!

The hummus tasted like it came out of a can and the food was not very hot when we received it. The taste is fine, but not great. When they have performers people will get up and dance, it can really be a fun atmosphere.

Food was good. But the price for the quantity of food served was not adequate. It was overpriced for the lamb gyro lunch special with only 3 thin slices of lamb. Not very filling. You can pay extra for more meat. Not worth it in my opinion. The restaurant was nice and clean. Outside dining was nice as well.

I had not tried this particular restaurant for Greek food and Friday evening I stopped on my way home from a Museum Exhibition Opening. Being a little leery, I played it safe and got the Greek salad, grape leaves and a Kabob. The grape leaves were amazing! The salad was good but only 1 olive and it was a little less than it should have been? The kabob meat was delicious but no green peppers or onions on the kabob skewer. Overall...my favorite..the grape leaves!

I ordered a typical Gyro. It was good - pretty tasty, but I found it to cost more than other places that I have been at.

I love all there is to love about Demo's. Been going there for many, many years and it's always consistently delicious. The staff is always great. I adore the atmosphere! The Greek Music playing the delightful murals. Takes you away, and like I said, the food is always delicious, fresh, and authentic.

Love the view of St Mary's street and the food was very good. I would recommend the greek beer and get the 'big' sandwhiches not the regular size ones.

It's been many years since we visited Demos on St. Marys north of downtown. The construction on St. Marys made getting there a challenge, but it was worth the effort. We ordered the luck mini gyro plate with Greek salad and fries, drinks included at the walk up counter and before I could fix our drinks, the plates were ready. The mini gyros were small pitas filled with gyro sausage, tatziki, tomato, and purple onion. The salad included pepper, feta, and tomato with greek dressing (no cakes, which was odd, but don't eat them anyway.) and the fries we hand cut and not frozen which makes a difference. Overall the meal was very good, the tea was brewed not instant mix, and the dining room very clean. We visit SA very often and will definitely return for another meal.

My friend and I decided to try something different. We drove by Demo's and decided to stop. You order at a counter and then they call your name to pick up your meal. It is a nice restaurant and food is good, I think more personal service would bring this place a higher rating. The young lady at the counter was friendly and helped us decide what to order. My friend ordered the lamb Souvlaki & Chicken Souvlaki and I had the Avgolemeno Soup and salad combo. The soup was a chicken broth with a lovely lemony flavor and some rice. I would have eaten another bowlful! I tasted a bit of my friends meal and it was tasty too. I loved the décor and outside seating. I wish we had a Demo's near my town! It seems to develop a loyal following.

My secret for the carne lovers: ask them to hold the tomatoes on the gyro. When they make it, it'll look kinda skimpy cuz it's missing all that rabbit food filler. So: more gyro carne!!! W00t!

We went here for dinner here tonight before a concert at the White Rabbit which is across the street. The service is good. The set up is cafeteria-style. The food is tasty! We had the gyro plate and lamb plate. The meat was well seasoned and fairly tender. My only complaint was the price - two plates and two beers came to about $45. You're basically paying restaurant prices for what's more like fast food style Greek. Overall I'd give this place a 4 out of 5. Worth a try if you're in this end of town!

Go for the food, stay for the belly danders ! Greek Villa feel.

Once again, never to disappoint. An amazing Greek food establishment. Everytime I visit the food is always on point. An amazing Greek joint ,Greek salad to die for.

Excellent Greek food! The gyro's are the best in town!

Food is authentic Greek. Tziki sauce was good. I had the chicken souvlaki which was very tasty. Fries were good. Would eat here again.

It looked Greek, it tasted Greek and it was very good food. I was a bit disappointed with the tarama spread but my gyro plate with Greek salad was very good. The people behind the counter are delightful and helpful and the decor and background music all added to the traveling to Greece ambience. The restaurant has been there as long as I can remember and I finally decided to try it. I'd definitely go back there again.

I can eat here several times a week. Always fresh veggies, and great greek meats. Authentic? Heck I don’t know know. Never been to Greece but it sure is great tasting food and good for you being Mediterranean and all.

Some places never change, and thankfully Demos's is one such animal. While in SA for an emergency visit, I needed lunch, fast and not fast food. Demos's was very close and while a lot of the Mexican restaurants were very crowded, I snagged a window table and enjoyed a nice quiet lunch. I ordered the regular size gyro with everything (tzatziki on the side) and fries. They gyro was more than I could finish (there's a small version) although I managed to get through the meat. My favorite part of the meal was the fresh French fries. Frozen just can't compete with the real thing. Overall this was a good choice for lunch.

Alway enjoy the food at Demo's. The gyros are wonderful; I get them every time I can. Inexpensive; good food; nice atmosphere.

In San Antonio for a conference and needed to eat somewhere other than on Riverwalk. I do not eat Greek food very often, therefore my measuring stick is not very long. Orders are placed at the counter and when ready they called your name. The cashier was very helpful answering any questions. The menu included pictures to go along with descriptions. Had Souvlakia (beef and chicken) along with a Greek salad. Both meats were juicy and tender. Greek salad was a Greek salad! Pita was soft and very good. I did try the Dolmas (rice wrapped grape leaves) and did not like the taste. My friend however loved it. We sampled all the desserts on menu and the overall favorite was the Finikia.

We had seen a special on the sign, advertising Mini Gyros with fries for $2.00. My husband went to pick this up and not knowing the portion size, picked up 8. We were able to feed our neighbors, ourselves and have it again for the next day. The real treat was the taste! Having lived in Chicago area for over 20 years and been to authentic Greek restaurants, my expectation was minimal. What a great surprise to find these delicious!. The large portion of fries were excellent as well! I plan on going back and ordering the other items on the menu!

This restaurant was rated as San Antonio's best Greek food in a local paper. I don't know if the owners are friends with the person who wrote this but this is definitely not the best Greek food in San Antonio.

My grand kids love this place, but if you are looking for authentic Greek food this is not the place to go. Very little meat on the Gyro and it was very dry. The salad and the fries on the lunch plate were the best things. You place your order at the counter and find your own seat. The outside patio area is nice. The lunch menu give good value but the servings are meager.

Try the sampler plate to get all things Greek. Greek salad comes with the fresh Greek specialties. Fresh pita is the way to enjoy spanikopita, mousaka and falafel. Light fluffy hummus is the pure delight. Demo is clean and beautifully adorned with murals done by real a real Artist. Reasonable prices and consistently delicious food. You body will feel good after visiting Demo’s.

We stop in this place after reading some reviews. The gyro I ate was really good. I would 100% recommend to tried this place.

nice place to go to lunch if you can beat the crowd...get alot of food for your money

Who doesn't like processed meat on a spool?
Great gyro!
Great greek food, with seating outside. Great for a warm (but not too warm) day. I am a fan of the "double-deluxe".
