Stopped here with the family after a museum tour. Got seated right away. Great mixed drinks. The food was awesome. I had the philly Cuban that came on a pretzel bun.

This little gem on Chestnut Street serves and excellent brunch. Although the menu may appear limited, you can customize really anything on it. The blueberry pancakes with lemon curd were the best pancakes many of us had ever eaten. The house made granola is delicious in the yogurt, fruit and granola. Be warned, this isn't a parfait; it is a whole bowl with yogurt, lots of fruit and the granola. The potatoes have some kick and everything just had great flavor. At about $15/person, it is a steal for the portions and sheer great taste of the food.

Edgy, but very enjoyable for lunch. Good spot, good food and energetic crowd. Liked the atmosphere - casual.

This bar has a nice ambience and a lot of different kinds of local beers and also different cocktails.

The title sums up the cafe. Meant to be a friendly meeting place for an unfussy lunch, brunch or after work drink, this Center City spot is narrow, yet open; friendly but not inattentive. The service is quick and flexible, the food consists of typical salads, small plates and burgers prepared as ordered but with care. Several streets side tables but they're not for everyone unless one likes horns and exhaust fumes to accompany the meal. I'd rather stay inside, upstairs, after climbing the rather steep stairs, and enjoy an easy meal, well priced and wonder why I forget to come here more often.

Just had a burger and fries here, with a couple of drinks. The food was really good, and I was very impressed with the wait staff. They were very attentive, and could answer any questions that I had on the menu. I'd return in a heartbeat. If you do stop in, make sure that you use the restroom. You literally feel like you are going down into Satan's Lair! LOL It's in the basement, the walls are all black and covered in graffiti. It's really different and actually kinda neat!

And unfortunately we stopped in during a high 90s July afternoon. But I couldn't punish them too much because their fried green tomatoes are hands down the best I have ever had. I'm ready to drive into Philly JUST for them! The decor is interesting, but the bathroom door doesn't lock. Have someone stand guard if ya gotta go.

We had walked by last night and the place was crowded! We were hungry and in a hurry so didn't stop. Went back for lunch and it was pleasantly quiet. I had the Philly Cuban....typical Cuban sandwich but served on a big, soft pretzel! Quite tasty!

Had lunch with a friend today in this bar/pub off Chestnut St. I had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich with fries and she had the chicken tenders. Place is perfect for a quick lunch and a cold drink. Waiter was friendly, explained the specials, and was quick with drinks. Not a long wait for service. Could have had any kind of burger you could imagine but went with the Buffalo Chicken. Didn't get 5th star as the music was a little loud. Try to get there before 12 noon as usually very crowded

I have been before, and the quality of food and drink did not disappoint. I enjoyed a Peak Summer Session ale and the guacamole, bacon and cheddar burger. Cooked to medium rare it was well received and quickly during my early dinner time (7pm). Edward is an excellent, attentive server. I give my thanks to him for his conversation which was never intrusive during my dine alone. He even made an excellent recommendation for Netflix TV based on my reading selection.

Stopped in to this bar/restaurant because we were starving on a recent trip to Philly. We were not disappointed. Devils Alley features local craft beer but also bottled mainstream brews. We sat at the bar and ate. Good burgers, salmon and crab cakes but the wings are awesome! Dry rubbed wings cooked on the grill. Try them!

Visited for lunch on a beautiful day...they do attempt some cramped sidewalk seating. Two story inside with a hip decor. Surprised to see Fried Green Tomatoes on the menu, one of my favorites, and had to try them. Very crispy coating topped with a thick, slightly sweet wonderfully fresh tomato sauce and some mozarella melted over top. Excellent! Followed with a salad they were more than happy to customize for me, adding grilled chicken(freshly cooked--still warm and not dried out) and subbing bleu for the goat cheese. Dressing came on the side and was a good vinagrette. I wish I had caught our waiter's name...excellent service and always there with the ice tea. No problem with splitting the bill for us either. All round great lunch spot.

i didn't look at the whole menu, but I can say this places puts out some great meat. I got the roasted bbq chicken and it was fall-off-the-damn-bone-good. My counterparts got the ribs and dry-rubbed wings and they seemed to enjoy their meal. The beer selection was also pretty impressive. All in all, I would say you cannot go wrong with this restaurant.

Overall the food I had was average, and the setting was not memorable. The place has been petitioned by the local carpenters for about 18 months now for using a non-approved carpenter to do work. This hardly adds to the atmosphere, and given that the food is not spectacular I'm inclined to give my support to other local establishments. The upside is in winter it does have a wood burning fireplace upstairs, so can be a nice place to get a drink if you can get a seat by the fire.

I've gone to Devil's Alley a number of times for lunch and the food is very good. I've had burgers, sandwiches, and snacks and have never been dissappointed. I most recently been there for an after work happy hour on Christmas Eve and have found that the service is great and the drinks are really good. A number of my work associates also indicated they liked the food and drink. I'd recommend this restaurant to any one looking for good lunch or light fare and drinks.

My husband an I finally made our way down to Devil's Alley and boy are we glad that we did. The menu was quite versatile and I managed to eat out and still not pack on the calories. Not exactly what one would expect from bar food. The grilled dry rub chicken wings were outstanding; we will be back for happy hour where I understand they are $5.00. I had shrimp and arugula salad that was might light yet tasty and my husband went for the gusto and had a buffalo chicken sandwich which he said was the best he's ever had. The atmosphere had a cool vibe and we will be back.

They have a nice 5PM-7PM happy hour with deals on drinks & appetizers. Sliders were very tasty & nice selection of drafts.

fast service (if you're 2), tasty food, good price. we had BBQ ribs & chicken, each came with 2 side dishes. the mashed sweet potato is really tasty!!!! the waitress was friendly, however she kept coming to ask how it was ... which was a little bit annoying, especially with your mouth full. would definitely go there again.

The place was fairly packed when we arrived but we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who took our name and suggested we head upstairs to the bar to wait. Many of the beers on tap had been replaced by something else but the bartender was quick to point out what was available. We were called down and seated within 15 minutes. The menu has a lot of good fare but most of us stuck with the burgers and the rubbed wings (which were good and spicy) The food was very good and cooked perfectly. Service was a bit slow at times, especially for drink refills, but he did have quite a few tables and we weren't any rush. I would definitely visit again to try some of the other items on the menu.

It is really good resturant with good food and service. I like their veggie burgers and couple friends tried chicken wings which was also good.

The wings are dry rubbed with an incredible seasoning blend and grilled not fried. My family loves these wings and the burgers are outstanding too!

We were a party of ten on a Saturday night on the same weekend as rock n roll. Every place was packed and would not accommodate our large party . We were greeted by a friendly staff seated quickly and our waiter Evan was awesome! He was prompt friendly and informative about the menu. We received our food quick hot and delicious. Everyone loved their meals. We will be back all delish

me and my girlfriend are out i just moved to philly first time out at devils ally, I gave the waiter 3 dollars cash for a tip before any drinks and food was ordered. At the end of the night the bill was 65 bucks ok cool so i sign of on the check he comes back and asked of there was anything wrong with his service said no then he gos cause i see you didn't leave a tip and i was like i gave you a tip and he kept lingering around and i told how do you expexct me to give something i don't have. So he walked away i had a little speaker with music playing they were ok with that, so i reported this guy to the manager and the manager started being a jerk, tellin me why did i have music playin and i told him your music sucked. The only reason i got upset was because the things i was doing with the music they could of told me to turn it off or leave. then i asked for the person in charges num and they started playin games over the phone telling me that he was the owner and wasn't had the host telling me not to come out unless i have the money, and its like i payed my bill and tipped, the other person tellin me not to be so cheap. It was crazy cause im puerto rican and i didn't see him ask anybody else for any tips just me and my girl was embarressed and walked out. It doesn't say any where that i have to tip. or if my tip isn't good enough for you it is still disrespectful to even ask for more money when you already got the tip and my girlfriend is white but i felt like they were a bunch of bigots. NEXT TIME I GO I WONT LEAVE NOTHING

This place is not bad by any stretch. It's another decent, comfort food and beer place to meet up with friends. The atmosphere is laid back and casual. The environment is upbeat. But the food is just good and the beer selection is average in this day and age of micro-brew mania. If you go here you will probably conclude that everything is fine, but with so many similar themed places to pick from in Philly that are better, why bother?

The service was really good, The food was phenomenal, like seriously to die for. The overall structure and layout of the place was really appealing and unique. I loved this place and will definitely be back again.

I love Devil's Alley at lunch (night its too crowded and noisy) and either have the Devil's Alley burger or chopped salad. Both are first rate. The prices are moderate and there are many draft beers available.

My son and went here for a quick dinner on a Sunday night. Lauren P was our server, she was fantastic. Very attentive and very friendly. We ordered the pulled pork and the French dip. Both were delicious and the fries were great. Bread pudding and peanut butter pie for dessert made the night a success. Great atmosphere. Would definitely stop by again

Stopped in for lunch. I had the grilled chicken ceasar salad. A little different approach with some light grilling of the lettuce. Very good. I'd come again

My partner and I stumbled into Devil's Alley by accident. It was our first night in Philadelphia and we got caught in the rain - I sure am glad we did!! This restaurant had a beautiful inside with charming decor, great service and staff, as well as some great happy hour deals. Our food was delicious and the rain continued, so we were able to stay and sample out more of their great beer selection. If I had more time I would return here or recommend to anyone visiting the area.

The Devil has great brunch options - Breskfast Burrito and Quesadilla have been a couple of my faves Beer selection-WOW

Our first night and Philadelphia and where do we have dinner? We had zero plans so just set out walking. Devil's Alley is what I call a hole in the wall restaurant with a twist. We noticed it from the street and decided to enter. I couldn't believe how cute it was, upstairs and down. The menu was amazing with something for everyone. I had just arrived from South Florida and was very curious about the Philadelphia Cuban Sandwich. I love a good Cuban but they serve it on a soft pretzel instead of Cuban bread. It was beyond what I imagined. I would highly recommend Devils Alley. Our waiter, Sam, was on top of everything and even invited us to a local vodka distillery. We are all in our 50's and flattered.

My friend was jogging and stumbled across this place, and he thought it looked like a fun place, so we went for dinner. We arrived after 10pm, so we had to choose our selections off the late night menu, which was mostly burgers and sandwiches, but still a very nice selection. Lots of beers to choose from, and not just your average domestics. Great selection of imports too. Tried the buffalo chicken sandwich which was very good, but diffferent, because they put clumps of blue cheese right on the sandwich and it melted very nicely, and toned down the buffalo sauce quite nicely. My friend got the burger and said it was cooked to perfection. The wait staff was great and very friendly, even though they were closing soon, we never felt rushed or like they wanted us to get out. As we were leaving they even chatted with us for awhile. They played great music too. Lots of 80's tunes. Very chill place, I would go back.

I've only ever been here for brunch/lunch, but I keep going back so that says something. The service is friendly even if the delivery is a bit on the slow side. But the food is great. I highly recommend the chorizo burger!

We wanted to meet up with some visiting family members and accidentally stumbled upon this place for Sunday brunch on open table. We had a great table by the upstairs fireplace, service was very attentive, and everyone enjoyed every morsel that they consumed. Drinks before/during our meal were just right (mimosas and hot cider). Portions were large enough that I had enough to bring home for another meal the next day. The place was mostly empty when we arrived, however quite full by the time we departed. Obviously, a popular place, and one that we will visit again.

peter and i were here just before xmas, and really enjoyed our meals -- i had mac n cheese and a grilled caesar salad and he had a burger. the salad was really great.

Ate here twice when in Philly. The food was amazing both times though the portions were massive! Had to bring food home afterward. Service was great.

A group of us were visiting for Philadelphia Beer Week. Devil's Alley was featuring a 3 course dinner for $35 as part of Beer Week. It was delicious food and a good value. The appetizer, entree and dessert were prepared using different beers and came with a serving of that beer. There were 3 choices within each course and everyone was delighted with what they ordered. The chef had several creative menu options that were well prepared. The only negative on the evening was the noise level-it was VERY loud. The enthusiastic and helpful wait staff needed to have hearing protectionWe had trouble talking to each other but it was a fun place in Center City Philadelphia on a Friday night. What do you expect?

We came here on a Sunday for the Eagles season opener. We initially tried to get into Smith's on 19th which we were led to believe was a good spot for game day. It was too crowded and very loud, so we ended up at Devil's instead. Good choice on our part. First of all it was somewhat crowded but not too loud at all. The server was particularly friendly and cheery. We had $3 yuengling pints which was an extraordinary deal. The spicy dry rub wings were very good. The BBQ sauce we had on the side. It was too sweet for us,but the wings were delicious and fresh. We also had the shrimp salad. Wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate to return on game days in the future.

So, we frequent Devil's Alley quite a bit, both personally and professionally. Tonight, Saturday, May 14, we went in around 9:00 p.m. There were several empty tables. We asked to sit at one and were told that they could not seat us because the table had to have at least 3 people. We said o.k. and left. We went back 20 minutes later and the same tables were still empty. We mentioned that we are frequent visitors and were told that if the "boss" came in and only two people were at the table, the hostess would get in trouble. I guess Susan would rather have tables empty, rather than have 2 invididuals sitting there and spending at least $120 which we usually do. We walked out. I don't think I will ever go back. Susan's loss. I usually take clients and co-workers there during the week and will never do it again. Overall, the food is good.

Good funky food, good staff. Great for drinks and across the street from Pearl and down the street from Continental.

Walking about looking for a place for a Sunday dinner with no reservations at 8PM we came upon the Devil's Alley. It is a bar and I was hesitant, but we were both hungry and were pleased with the experience. It is a sports, beer and wings type bar, but the menu has more depth with great salads and seafood. Pricing was very reasonable, the staff was attentive. I was pleasantly surprised and would stop in again on my next trip to the area.

Their wings are so good! And their spicy sauce is good with the veggies they bring to the table.

Go for the food and not the atmosphere. The burgers, pulled pork sandwiches and Cuban sandwiches were all first rate and fries were excellent. Food delivery was a little slow but everything came out piping hot.

decent, casual spot. prompt and attentive service. nice alternative for when you want bar food, but don't necessarily want to go to a bar.

Enjoyable meal from a bar that we decided to stop in as we walked down the street. I could see the place being a little chaotic for the waitstaff but we were there in between lunch and dinner and wasn't too bad for us. Nice beer menu with unique brews that change weekly I think. Our table overlooked the street and was essentially outdoors. I would stop in there again in I was in the area.

Following an early show at Helium Comedy Club, our group of 5 booked a table at Devil's Alley to cap-off a birthday celebration. Upon arrival, we promptly seated upstairs. The restaurant is a two level structure with bars on both floors and tables along a narrow city store space. In the Spring-Summer, the front windows open and table flow into the sidewalk. With cooler temperatures, there are heating poles to warm the brave souls eating outside. On this Friday evening, the Flyers were on TV and the place was bustling. We ordered a variety of dishes, quesadilla, burgers, ribs, pulled pork and a salad. Everythong was very good. A good election of tap and bottle beer. The location is central to the city scene and the price was right.

Quick lunch with a friend. It was very busy during the lunch hours. The service was good and quick. The food was fresh. Try to get a table upstairs near the front, you can people watch while you dine.

Try the buffalo chicken sandwich and macaroni and cheese. Was a great place to watch a game and at reasonable prices.

I actually go to this place a lot for lunch normally on a weekday afternoon. Great food and service as always. Last night was my first time going at night. Erica our waitress was amazing and so friendly. The bartender drinks was NICE!!! Make sure to check out the bathroom! lol I already knew what was in there. However it was his first time there. He came back to our table and said "did you read any of that" lol lol

Had dinner wih family (a group of 8 - 3 were between the ages of 12 and 10) and had a great time. . Food was simple but great. I can't say enough about the wings in bbq sauce (they are smoked not fried) or the fried green tomatoes. Our group sampled serveral different meals; the kids had nachos, ribs and mac and cheese as their meals, the adults had a cubano sandwiches, grilled cheese with bacon and apples, grilled chicken sandwich, and a hamburger. Every thing was good - although I wished I had ordered more wings. We did not have any drinks but if we did not have the kids we might have; the drink offerings looked good. The interior was dark with orange lighting and wood slats covering the walls (a very cool look) The dining area has views into the kitchen. The restrooms are downstairs - graffti is on the walls - most of it is part of the decor (I did not see any that was offensive). Kids loved the devil outside the restrooms. We had a great time and I will come again and get the wings and fried Ggeen tomatoes for my meal.

The food was awesome. Their Barbecue Chicken Wings are awesome!! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The drinks were very refreshing. Only complaint is that the upstairs is hot...almost unbearably hot.

A really cool place to come with friends for a quick bite. The food is pretty good and so are the cocktails...they can be a bit pricey though.

I must admit, when we first walked up to Devil's Alley I thought "not sure this is the type of place I'd eat lunch at". Beer after work or a good after-hours cocktail. Sure. After circling around the area for 15 minutes to find parking and walking around for 10 minutes to find food we decided "what the hell, let's give it a try". I am glad we did. The prices were reasonable and the food was great. We stuck to the typical "pub food" entries for the most part. My buffalo chicken sandwich was great. Not too spicy, good flavor. The thin hand-cut style fries were decent . Most surprising, however, was the side of grilled veggies. It was not at all what I expected from a "drinking pub" style place. They were excellent with properly grilled zucchini, squash, portabella, asparagus and red pepper. Doesn't this place know that the local pub is supposed to overcook that stuff and have just squash and week-old green peppers? That is what many pubs serve, but not here. If I wasn't such a "meativore" I'd consider the veggie sandwich on the next go-around. My friend had great things to say about the bacon guacamole cheeseburger without the gauca-part as well. Overall the food was a win and was better than we had anticipated based solely on the first impression from the sidewalk on a rainy Philly afternoon. Service was prompt and courteous. Friendly staff. We didn't wait long for our food or our check. Granted it was a bit late for lunch and the place was empty but I cannot count the number of places that have the worst possible service under the same circumstances. Definitely worth a try. I may even be back before I leave town next week. If for nothing else at least to get a drink or two during happy hour.

I went to Devil's Alley as the kick-off dinner of our visit and participation in Philly Craft Beer Week. This is the week that the National Brewery Association holds it's annual conference in Philadelphia and the tap-houses in Philly rise to the occasion (for the most part). A number of the folks in our party have been attending Philly Beer Week regularly and have been, for the last 6 years kicking it off with a three course paired Beer Dinner offered as a special dinner at Devil's Alley for Philly Beer Week. Several days before we arrived and again the day before we confirmed our reservation, confirmed that the beer paired dinner was being offered, and even commented to the woman taking the reservation for 8 people that this would be the 7th year for this group participating in this dinner. We arrive, and the waitstaff knows nothing of the dinner, never heard of a paired beer dinner, showed no effort to win our patronage and that was that. We were hungry and at 7 pm on a Friday we probably wouldn't find a res anywhere else for a group this size so we stayed. The food was lackluster at best, I ordered a chicken sandwich which was predictably over cooked. A number of the better beers in this "tap-house" were out and the beer that they suggested was awful... I didn't finish it (and that's saying something). And to complete the impression they made, the bathrooms were horrendous and filthy. They were in the basement down a somewhat dark set of stairs. I didn't want to touch anything. We won't be returning.

This is a small inviting establishment tucked away on Chestnut Street. The ambience really makes the restaurant, and there is a great selection of drinks and beers to choose from. The food is good, but beware if you do not like mayonnaise: many dishes come with either mayo, aioli, or some derivative there of. Take the dry rub wings for instance: delicious! Why the chef serves them on a plate slathered in aioli is beyond me, since it defeats the purpose of a dry rub. As if they have tubs of the stuff just waiting for consumption, it seems to be the condiment of choice on many menu items. Oh well, lesson learned. Food otherwise is great! This restaurant uses opentable and tripadvisor for booking, I recommend it!

Visited as part of a group of fifteen, we hadn't pre-booked but they managed to accommodate us. Menu was good no nonsense food, filling and wholesome. Great value. It was a little noisy, but maybe that was us?!

not as good as the atmosphere would indicate

Had a full day to kill before heading for our night flight. Spent a good three hours in here and got free refills on our sodas and ate well here too. The shrimp salad was lovely.

solid americana food. nothing particularly special.

I wondered into this place a few blocks from hotel. Great menu, amazing drinks and nice beer list. A Rittenhouse Square gem!

I'm writing this review wearing 2 hats: one as an event planner and one as a patron. (1) As part of my job, I have to plan 10-15 happy hours per year. I've held happy hours at Devil's Alley for two years in a row - unfortunately I don't go to these events (only the planner) but I've heard nothing but great reviews from the people that do attend! The food is great and they're really happy with the drink/beer selection. They also rave about the service! On the back end of things (planning and payment), I usually deal with Chris & Quinn. They're both awesome! I have a strict budget but it's definitely workable. I hope to book with them next year! (2) I finally went to Devil's Alley this weekend with my fiance. The beer selection was great, lots of local brews, and was priced accordingly ($5-6 per beer). They also offer flights of beer and you can pick any beer they have on draft, which is nice since most places offer a set flight selection. To eat, I got the Shrimp Po' Boy...and I've been thinking about that sandwich ever since. The breading was so crispy - it was delicious! Good Dog and Memphis Taproom have been featured on Diner's, Drive-Ins, and Dives and I definitely think Devil's Alley is on par with them. Get on that Guy Fieri!

We went here on a last minute whim with some friends. Food and service were great and they have a nice beer selection. Try the crab cakes and sweet potato fries!! We will definitely go back when we are in town.

I went here last night with one of my friends and I was surprised at how cool the place is and that the food was good. Amanda the hostess was so nice. She seemed excited about working there and that we would enjoy our dining experience. This place was packed on a friday night round 7:30pm, so it was more noisy than I expected.

I've eaten here numerous times and have never had a bad experience. Hands down this is the best brunch in the city. Their menu is excellent and they always change their chili of the day. I've eaten downstairs at a table and also at the bar. Their brunch drinks are delicious and moderately priced, and the service is great. I also like the art in the bathroom. The whole place has a nice down to earth feel. I recommend the chili with eggs, eggs benedict, and my boyfriend gets the steak and eggs everytime we go. You can't get a bad breakfast here. The mimosas and bloody mary's are also DELICIOUS

Decent bar food...there burger was better than their tacos. Worth a stop if around Rittenhouse and want to avoid crowds but still get good food

We ordered hamburgers and a bucket of onion rings. Both were great and cooked according to our requests.

This is a good change of pace from all the upscale dining around it. Lots of unusual beers on the menu as well as many chicken, burger and rib options. I had the dry rub ribs, which fell off the bones, but could have used a little more kick. Good variety of sides and pretty low prices, too. Service was poor, but I was just there for a meal and it was not a big deal.

This place is very hip and cool with great food and drinks! That being said, I don't think that there was anything about this restaurant that was particularly exceptional.

My brother went to Devil's Alley for brunch over the weekend. We went in a little after noon, and didn't have to wait, nor was it really busy. Upon sitting down, we waited about 15 minutes before being addressed, then after ordering we waited 45 minutes for our food!! We were not seeking a free meal or to make a big deal about it, but we did request to speak to a manager (Jay). He addressed the situation, but didn't instill too much confidence in terms of what went wrong. To top it all off, our check included an eye liner to sign with, instead of a pen... It could have been a bad day or a weak staff, but I can't say with confidence we'll go back. Based on the events, it almost seemed like somebody was playing a joke on us. It was that bad.

Very creative atmosphere. Had the fried green tomatoes with bacon and goat cheese. Was very delicious! Would enjoy coming back here and prices are very reasonable!

I booked a reservation last minute at this restaurant for Valentine's Day no knowing what to expect. It was a mix of goth and romance, the food was good, and the atmosphere was nice! The bathroom was a little scary but I took my chances.

Devils Alley is appropriately named for all of the writing and graffiti all over the walls on the sides of the restaurant and down to the bathroom. Walking down those steps, you really feel like your're going into the depths of hell. It is quite intimidating to use the bathroom to say the least. The food was decent, we must have went at an awkward time because we only were offered their brunch menu and we were looking for more food options but what we had was very good. Our waiter was also super personable and funny. He kept us entertained the whole time!

Had dinner there with a friend. Drinks were good. Fried cauliflower was excellent and I had poached monk fish which was equally as good. Finished the meal off with bread pudding!!! Will definitely go back.

I’ve been here many times when I visit Philly. It’s my family’s “go to” as it is up the street from my relative’s condo. The food seemed to be better a few years ago but it is a convenient and the chicken Caesar and burgers are tasty and juicy. Service is average.

We popped in for lunch after our trip to tr Mütter Museum. Cool atmosphere, I bet it’s great on a weekend night out. I got two of the $5 drink specials. Very well made cocktails. We started with onion rings and then we split the Philly Cuban.....O..M...G. That was by far the best sandwich we’ve had out in months. When they say it’s served on a pretzel, it’s not some pretzel roll, it’s a legit philly pretzel. WINNING! Go there. Eat. Drink and repeat! Will def be stopping back soon to try more delicious food!

Dropped into this interesting place for lunch and was very impressed. They have a very good menu and prices are reasonable. Sitting outdoors is always a plus on a nice day.

We called and made a reservation for 8 people at 12:00. After waiting 50 minutes and hearing lots of excuses we left. The only option we were given was to split our party. There were other tables which could have been pushed together but the hostesses were for some reason set on giving us one specific table.

Devils alley is a great place. However, their waiters are not trained enough to know what is gluten free versus not. My sister has a very serious gluten allergy and after being told many times that the burger rolls were gluten free my sister took one look and said they were not. We asked them multiple times to double check if they were gluten free and were ignored 3 times. After the fourth time they said “let me double check”. Guess what....none of their rolls are completely gluten free and my sister would have been ridiculously sick if she had eaten that food. CELIAC PEOPLE PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE

It happened that my visit to Devil's Alley corresponded to Food Week. I discovered this delightful, if warm balconied, restaurant through my Open Table app. The atmosphere and service were excellent. our server was good and patient answering questions we had about both the regular menu and the food week menu. I ended up kicking off a week of short rib delight with the offering that was Devil's Alley. The local brew I had was delicious as well. I don't think the food choices can go wrong at all, portions are normal and leave room for enjoying the tasty desserts.

It's a small place with two floors. The decor is really interesting. The service was impeccable. However, the food was average. I had the salmon burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was just ok. A little too mushy for my taste. It fell apart and off the roll as I tried to eat it. The fries were perfectly done. My husband had the smoked beef brisket sandwich. There was practically no meat on the sandwich (about 3 slices). It was extremely thin and for some reason it was pressed like a Panini. Way over priced at $13. He was still hungry when we finished our meals. We didn't hate it but with so many other restaurants to try in Philly we won't be back.

Devil's Alley used to do an awesome 3 course beer dinner for Philadelphia Beer Week each year. Our group went for several years and it was always a highlight of our long weekend in the city of brotherly love. We visited last week and were told they stopped doing the beer dinners (despite being told otherwise when making the reservation). We decided to stay and eat there anyway on a busy Friday evening. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. The food was less than ordinary. My pulled pork sandwich was very greasy and for some reason was topped with melted cheese. Probably to hide the taste. Everyone (a party of 8) was disappointed with the food. Also two of the menu's featured beers were already out by the time we sat down for a 7:00 pm dinner. The manager on duty seemed to care less about whether we were satisfied or not. Used to like this place but we will not be back.

great service! delicious! Friendly! don;t miss this spot. I'm surprised it is not in the top ten! Best deal. good location! Howard is the best server ever!

A very good option for late dinner. The food was excellent as well as the service. Filet Mignon was excellent.

Decided to finally try this always crowded restaurant for happy hour... I'm glad we did!! The staff was welcoming and very professional. Seated us with a smile and great energy. The servers are just as professional, kind and attentive. The drinks were around $5 and well worth it!!! The food was also priced moderately for happy hour and was very very tasty. Next to Sonic, these onion rings were absolutely the best in the city-lol We're looking forward to returning when the weather breaks! Now we know why it's always crowded with a line outside the door!!! Happy Eating My Foodies!!

If you are looking for a quick, big, juicy burger in a casual environment, then this is the place for you. The food was very tasty, but nothing spectacular. The service was mediocre, although the food came out lightening fast - almost too fast, as my burger was a little under, but better that than overcooked. It's a perfectly fine burger joint, but not a place I will be re-visiting.

Always a good meal. Love the chicken. Nice to sit on the second floor next to the open window. Very reasonable

delicious, comfortable, creative. Many excellent items here...homestyle faves with new twists such as peach tea-rubbed pork loin, spicy mac n cheese, and a hellacious Cuban sandwich.

Can't say too much about the food, but the service was very good. We had about 20+ people come for a business happy hour with folks from out of town, and the service was quick and accommodating. We had the upstairs/rear area and they provided us with a dedicated server/host. Was a good location also. Hope to be back to try the food

Pros: - Amazing food! Probably not the lowest calorie options, but it was worth EVERY calorie! Ate spicy dry rub chicken wings with cucumber salad, chorizo nachos and had pear martini and the local brew sampler! Amazing. Great recommendations from the waiter. - Really wished to try the burger or the pulled pork sandwich, but the portions are so huge, I had no room left. - Service was excellent. Waiter (Will) was attentive, helpful and gave great suggestions.- - Ambiance was kind of hip, kind of local, kind of modern, kind of European - just all around a good mix of everything I liked... Considerations: - Where you sit may yield a different experience. For example, if you want to chat with your friends, may want to choose a seat outside, however, then your meal may be interrupted by people walking by and soliciting your donations. Although our waiter was helpful in fielding some of these requests, but still, expect your meal to be interrupted if you sit at one of the tables that's right on the street/road. -

The food here is decent. Nothing spectacular. The fries are very good though. However the waitstaff tends to be rude.

Our experience was ok but nothing special. Like everyone else, their draft beer menu is bloated with IPA's, nothing to brag about there. The sandwiches we ordered were very good but the fries were absolutely disgusting. This place is very run of the mill. Decent but nothing to brag about. They need to diversify the draft selection more and either get real fries or offer other side selections.

The place was very crowded and thus very noisy. The food was disappointing : lots of fries & onion rings (so much you can't even cut them) but the hamburger itself lacked of taste. I would not recommend.

This is a stark, but interestingly-themed restaurant. The service was friendly and quite good. They didn't have wifi when I was there, which is a little disappointing. The food was good, and I would dine or hang-out there again.

We had two amazing dishes. The Bread Pudding French Toast was unbelievable and so was the Shrimp & Bacon Grits with Eggs on top. Very, Very good!

Stumbled across this edgy and wonderful restaurant during a short stay in Philadelphia. At the recommendation of the server we ordered the chicken wing appetizer - the meat falls off the bone - tender and juicy. The chicken entree (which comes 3 ways and I ordered the dry rub) was so memorable! So juicy and favorful. Service wonderful and great value. Try it.

Stopped in after reading specials. Sat upstairs and was waited on by server Scott. Awesome service. Had the wings app - very good dry rub wings! The burger with crab meat was 5*. Love the daily drink specials. Pomegranate sangria was yummy. And OMG Scott was right the bread pudding is a must for any dessert lover!

Last night in Philadelphia and was meeting my almost step-daughter and her fiancé for dinner. They selected the Devil's Alley because it was close to where they live and they liked it. We had a reservation for 8:00 pm. We were a few minutes late, but we were seated immediately. After we were seated we were given menus, water and asked if we wanted any other beverage. They have a rather large menu that has starters, several salads, 8 different burgers (beef, turkey, veggie and salmon options), Plates that include chicken, ribs, crab cakes, Mahi tacos, salmon and Mac & Cheese. They also have 11 sandwiches to choose from. Selections include pulled pork, grilled chicken, grilled cheese, chicken salad, beef brisket, grilled veggie, fried green tomato BLT and a few others. All sandwiches are served with hand cut fries. For an up-charge you can get sweet potato fries. Finally they do have other sides you can order such as onion rings, grilled corn on the cob, corn muffins, and coleslaw to name a few. I ordered the Philly Cuban which is house smoked pork, pit ham, pickles, Swiss cheese, dijonaise, served on 2 soft pretzels. That's the Philly twist and where I got in to trouble. These were actual Philly pretzels and this caused problems. There are holes in Philly pretzels and when you put all of these ingredients on a pretzel with holes some of those ingredients tend to squirt out. Plus the pretzels were a little tough so it make biting through them a little harder which made more ingredients squirt out. The ingredients were tasty, but the sandwich was a bit messy. They fries were hot and good. They do offer a "happy hour" Monday through Friday's from 5pm until 7pm. It includes various draft beers, wine, well drinks and reduced price appetizers. Since Devil's Alley is located in the city parking is at a premium. Devil's Alley appears to be a good local neighborhood place....just like many other good local neighborhood places. I would probably go back and try something else, but I would also try other places too.

We were here last night for $5 Margarita Monday, which is enough reason to make me happy. The drinks were good, especially at $5 each. Calamari was tasty, not too chewy as it can be, and the burgers were good as well. I've also been here for a weekend dinner and for weekday lunch, and it's a nice atmosphere, with high 2-story ceilings in the downstairs area and trees growing up to the bar on the second floor. Overall, this is a reliable place for good food and drinks--nothing fancy or trendy (which I prefer).

Affordable and good quality food. Good beer specials. Awesome fries worth every calorie. Nice salads. Awesome nachos. Yummy pulled pork. I love it here!

Great bar & restaurant! Had their amazing burger and fries. Highly recommend getting there when in Philly. Very cool and fun atmosphere.

I will admit to being a picky eater. I don't like a lot of things so finding the 2 or 3 things on a menu that I'm good with is normally no trouble. This place had a lot to choose so it was great. The beer on tap was excellent. Quick service and an unusual, but nice atmosphere. A little loud at the height of meal time.

Great beer selection, relaxing brunch.

By far the best food we ate this whole trip. The wings are amazing. Service is great. Food is reasonable price.

This restaurant was recommended by the guy at the front desk of our hotel. Easy to walk to from convention center area. Looks a lot like a bar-type place, but food is top-of-the-line. We were there during "restaurant week" and they were offering a 4 course meal for $35. I selected wings with a dry rub as an appetizer, a wonderful grain salad, barbecue pork tenderloin, and an incredible berry bread pudding. My dinner companion opted for fried green tomatoes and salmon. All of the food was excellent with large portions and excellent taste. The service was prompt and friendly, water glasses kept full throughout the meal. i'm happy we were referred to this place: we wouldn't have known it existed. Nice to eat at a "non-chain" restaurant while in the City. I'd highly recommend it.

Stopped in for Happy Hour and stayed for dinner. HH specials were great. $2.00 beers and discount wine plus apps. Ordered wings although they were not on the HH special menu but they were excellent. Sat on the second floor at a window table which was open due to balmy spring weather. Only reason I would not give this a 5 star is due to the noise level. The place was pretty empty when we got there but a private party in the back started to fill up the second floor and by the time we were leaving, we were shouting to each other to hear above the noise level. Ceilings seem to be made of tine ( and maybe the walls) and noise from the back was bouncing all over the second floor.

I think the chef feel asleep. Terrible food. Sticky floors. Dirty bathroom. Slow service. Expensive and not worth the cost. Strongly advise you to avoid this establishment.

We were here 6/24/18 after spending some time at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. It was around 90 outside and we went here for the food and to get out of the heat. Food was good as was the service. The place was hot and we were all sweating when we left. Outside there was at least a breeze. Oh well. First impressions are lasting.

My wife and I were doing a day of touring in Philadelphia and were looking for somewhere to have lunch. The mobile Tripadvisor app is great because with so many eatng places in the area, i was able to find one close that had good reviews. This really was a different kind of place. After going throuigh the front door there was a curtain separating the vestibule from the restaurant. Not too big, and very crowded and a bit loud, but thats OK with me. Food selections were unique, which was also nice. Service was a bit poor. It took a bit for someone to come to our table. I made the mistake of giving my drink order at the same as our food order. When the drink still had not arrived after more than 10 minutes (a beer) I cancelled it. Ten minutes later it was served, but I did not accept it because our food was almost ready. It must of been a mixup for it to take so long, because the table next to us got the same drink in less than 10 minutes after ordering it. The food was excellent, so that made up for it. Well worth a stop.

The sandwiches were excellent and lots of good choices. The service was great and he (Henry) had a fun sense of humor that made it all the more enjoyable.

A very comfortable restaurant with good service, good drinks and great burgers and ribs. We had their fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and was big enough to share. It's a big space and very popular. I see why.

Stopped here for dinner with my wife and two young children. The interior is dark and inviting - two trees coiled with xmas lights rise from the ground floor to the balcony level. On the down side, large overhead ducts and piping, coated with a film of condensed water, were leaking everwhere, occasionally dripping on us. The bathroom was a nightmare - a dark, graffiti-laden stairwell leading to a mess of exposed plumbing and junk. No sinks in the bathroom but a single communal unit with a cracked basin and broken knobs. As for the food, the fried green tomatoes appetizer, drizzled in tomato sauce, was tasty. Baked mac and cheese was enjoyed by the kids. The avocado cheddar cheeseburger was excellent but the grilled cheese with apples and bacon was undercooked and missed the mark. Regarding value, $3 for a small cup of milk is no bargain. The wait staff was excellent.

This is the perfect place for brunch, lunch, dinner, or drinks. Ideal for meeting friends. Food is always good. I enjoy the burgers and/or quesadillas. Staff is always friendly. Great for people watching. In the cool weather sit by the window or on the second floor, in the warm weather try to snag a table outside in the sidewalk. Not dressy, casual, great for post shopping. Full bar.

Dry rub wings are a must for my fellow spicy fans. They fall off the bone and burst with flavor. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich which was massive and ideal for those of you who despise vegetables, as its solely meat and cheese. Chicken was perfectly moist, but I wouldn't recommend this sandwich choice for a first date, as its quite messy, but delightful nonetheless. Service wasn't bad. Server gave detailed explanations of the specials for the night. Place was industrial and a bit eclectic, real casual. Bathrooms were strange, downstairs and swarmed with graffiti, which may be part of their charm.. I'm not sure. Would definitely return for apps and drinks.

Went there for lunch and got turkey and crusted pecan chicken. Very good. Service was excellent. went back on Friday night and had drinks and bread pudding! Drinks good and so was the dessert. I had the same waitress and she was very good!

CHalkboard style menu on brick interior wall. Open, two floor layout makes for an interesting atmosphere. Decent food. Usually there on weekdays with a center city Phila work crowd. as well as after work happy hour. Great beer selections. And they have special beer week deals with prix fixed menu settings.

We stopped in here Friday night and there wasn't much of a crowd. There were some local police inside talking and filling out paperwork with two women at a table upstairs. I'm not sure why the cops were there but they were there on business not socializing, maybe this is why it was empty on Friday. We got a table at the upstairs bar. Our waitress was terrible, she took our drink order, brought water and then disappeared. After waiting 10 minutes I got up went to the bar and got myself our drinks. When the waitress showed up the bartender told her we already got our drinks and then she sported an attitude with us. The bartender was a good guy and was as frustrated with our waitress as we were. It took forever for the waitress to get us a check and longer for her to swipe my card and return. My wife was upset that I tipped her at all since I did all of the work. Upstairs they have a full bar a tables too. The prices are a bit high for what they offer. As for beer knowledge... their menu suggests Fegley's is brewed in NJ when it's actually brewed right down the road in Allentown PA. They need to turn on the AC unless they are actually trying to make it feel like hell or Devil's alley. It was uncomfortable upstairs and if it is going to be that hot at least open up the front windows/doors. We wouldn't stop back because there are too many great bars and pubs in the immediate area.

We stopped in for brunch on 4/10/16 with a small group. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table so we went upstairs to the bar to have a drink. I ordered a Bloody Mary and was shocked by how horrible it was. It looked like he started with a handful of horseradish in the bottom of the glass and things got worse from there. When we did get a table we enjoyed our meal. The service was good and our server was attentive. I wish my first impression wasn't tainted by that Bloody Mary but I would probably go back here and give them another chance.

Everytime my friend comes into town for a visit, he begs for us to go to Devil's Alley. The last time we went we were both in heaven. This time, however, while he was in a state of euphoria, I was in a state of so-so. Allow me to explain. We were running behind in getting downtown, so I called the restaurant and asked the hostess if she could push back our reservation a half hour. She was more than happy to fulfill my request. When we got there, the restaurant was jammed packed with happy people having brunch. We got seated right away and picked out what we were gonna have. I knew my friend was going to get the Bread Pudding French Toast because he went to heaven when he sampled mine last time we came. The flavor this time was Chocolate Cake. OMG!! Taking one of that bread pudding made you feel like you were going to hell in a good way!! It tasted like chocolate cake that came right out of the oven!! He devoured it. I chose to go with a healthy option and this is when I became disappointed. I order the omelette of the day which was Brie, Mushrooms and Bacon. While there was plenty of mushrooms and bacon, there was not enough Brie to my liking and also my omelette was a lil too salty for my taste. I ate about half of it, but I ate all of the filling. I did however really enjoy my cocktail which was the Pomegranate Sangria. I highly recommend that drink to accompany the meal. It was very refreshing and delicious! Service was great as always (minus the busboy spilling water while he delivered our food, but he cleaned it up right away). Total price was around $35.00 Next time I go, I will be going back to my Bread Pudding French Toast though!!

Looks a little bit like it will be a hole in the wall, but once inside the atmosphere is amazing! Great portions for the price and the food is definitely worth it. Got samplers of the beer and tasted some of the most amazing beers I've ever had. Very interesting flavors! Ordered the grilled cheese sandwich that has bacon and apples: sounds weird, tastes AMAZING! :-) Wings are a must to try: Best barbecue sauce I have ever tasted! I highly recommend this great restaurant.

Every time I visit Philly I make a trip to Devils Ally and it never disappoints. I look forward to this place more than I look forward to cheese steaks! Try the Devil Burger.. i think thats what its called.

I refuse to give restaurants bad reviews because of bad service. This is a fun place to gather drink and eat! The food is amazing, The grilled wings appetizer is Da'Bomb, the Burgers were truly amazing! Fun place, fun time, great food bad service. I think it was just our waitress so don't let that stop you!

Don't let the name scare you. Cool relaxed restaurant. Great place to meet up with friends for a light dinner and drinks. Kinda dies down later on in the evening.

When I go out to eat, I never get a burger. Burgers are a dime a dozen. Why would I pay someone to make me a burger when I can so easily make them at home? I'll tell you why. When someone makes you a burger with fresh ground beef, tops it with fresh crab meat, lightly drizzles it with crab imperial sauce & cooks it to perfection. It is an out of body experience. Add fresh cut fries & drinks you want to order by the pitcher, and you have just found your happy place. I had the $14 crab imperial burger & the $10 1907 cocktail (x2). Worth every penny! Their gin of choice is Beefeaters. I much prefer Bombay. They happily made the upgrade & I enjoyed an outstanding evening. And the decor is just as quirky as you would expect!

We ended up here after asking the hostess of another, more famous (celebrity-chef) burger place where we could get a good burger without waiting 2 hours. She told us that she would go to Devil's Alley, where the food was as good and definitely more reasonable. Well, A+ to the other restaurant's hostess. We made out way in on a busy Saturday night, got seated pretty quickly, and within a very short time had orders placed and drinks on the table. The staff is friendly and actually willing to recommend some things and (more important to me) recommend against others. We got wings for an appetizer and they were melt in your mouth/fall off the bone good. Different spice blend than I've had but that doesn't mean bad...to the contrary, it was awesome. We got 3 different burgers and they were all excellent - cooked correctly and perfect sizes. The fries were great as well - sort of a bonus. Best part - the price was ridiculous (in a good way) for the portions we got and the quality of the food. I would have expected to pay more given the neighborhood (and even the fact it is in a city). We left full - both our stomachs AND our wallets. It doesn't seem like much from the street but I'd suggest giving it a try if you are in the neighborhood. I think you'll like it.

Great place to stop for a quick drink/food. Beer selection is good, the mixed drinks are excellent (my girl loved the Strawberry Lemonade), the staff is awesome and the wings are absolutely amazing. Well worth checking out!

The food at this place was pretty heavy. It was great for the first few bites but then just got to be way too much. I went with a group and we passed our dishes around the table and it seemed about the same for everyone. The service was good and I felt well taken care of. The atmosphere was nice. It was a warm day and they opened the front doors to let the air in. The decor is very cool. There are two stories and the second floor acts as a bar area. I would also say that I felt that the tables were too small. I sat at a table with four other people and we were practically bumping elbows during our meal.

We went last Sunday for a last minute birthday brunch for our son. The food was delicious. There was something for everyone. The atmosphere was calm and it was nice and bright in the dining room. Service was also great. So happy we found this brunch spot.

Probably better-than-average, but not in this visit... Great location & atmosphere. Pretty awkward to run out of coffee during Brunch. I would have ordered the Brunch Special, but wasn't told about it and it hasn't been put up in the chalkboards yet. My guess is that they weren't ready to open. 'Devil's breakfast' was very average, but the Breakfast Quesadilla and Brioche French Toast (I am told) was quite good.

If it's convenient and you're in the Rittenhouse Square area, here's a nice little place for lunch. Big portions! We had a great waiter, Brett. My wife's nachos could feed a crowd. My sausage chile was very tasty. Big selection of burgers. I saw a salad at a neighboring table - also lots of food. Have to say it was loud. My wife attributed that to a large party of women who enjoyed shouting, but I think the acoustics might really be at fault. Whatever - it was loud. But we still had a good time.

The server and bartender here were very friendly, and are a testament to the restaurant's service! The food here was also enjoyable. I went with Chicken and Waffles with a jalapeno maple syrup......definitely not something I normally get, but I was intrigued by the syrup. It was very good, and enjoyable...there was a little heat with the syrup, but primarily apparent was the pepper taste. Overall, this was a very good experience and meal.

Well me and my wife went last night and we didn't know what to expect from the mixed reviews. When we got in we met an hostess and she was extremely friendly and upbeat. She asked us where we wanted to sit and we decided to sit upstairs. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere on a Sunday night. The music wasn't loud so we could talk to one another. The conversation among others wasn't overbearing as well. This was our first time and I wanted to check out this place because me and my wife love wings and she loves sweet potato fries. I ordered the dry rub wings that came with a cucumber salad. My wife ordered the bbq wings that came with a potato salad. We also ordered an order of the sweet potato fries. Well we were impressed not only with the wings, but their dipping sauces as well. My wife loved the sweet potato fries and even though I don't like sweet potatoes I tried hers and I found myself eating them up. The waiter was great and had a great attitude. We definitely want to go back to this place again. If you love wings and want to take your girl out somewhere cool check this place out.

Downstairs and outside, there were tables for dining and the food looked terrific. I could tell that these were happy and in some cases, regular, customers. Upstairs sits the bar with quite a few TVs turned to sports, including one massive screen. One can eat upstairs as well. I noticed some fine soups, wings and vegetarian items. I stopped in there exclusively for drinks as I was on the way to a dinner engagement elsewhere. But watching all the folks with munchies and eyeing the food that was served, I would not hesitate to stop here for lunch or dinner. Bartenders were skilled and accommodating, but this being center-city Philly, the pours of Jack Daniels were light and the prices fairly high. Drink slowly, my friends.

We went after a recommendation from a local and was not disappointed. The chorizo quesadilla was very spicy but delicious. Very crowded but did not wait long for a table. The specialty drinks were unusual and refreshing (we went after the Phili Marathon).

I ordered the pulled-pork that was tasty. Server needed reminder to bring utensils & refill iced tea. The decor is outdated & worn. PS It was very warm outside & not much cooler inside. I wouldn't rush to return.

My fiance have always wanted to try Devil's Alley and since this past week was Restaurant Week we had decided to give it a try. We didn't expect the prices to be so cheap and the menu was very large. We chose to order from the menu and not use the restaurant week menu. We had started off with drinks, I had ordered the 1907 -- it was fantastic! Then we had ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the philly cuban. Both sandwiches had come with french fries and both meals were awesome!! After dinner I had ordered long island iced-teas and they were even better! The waitress/waiter staff really impressed us. Instead of rushing us out after we were done eating, the waiter came around whenever he knew we could use some help (it was as if he was a fortune teller). Overall, the experience was one in a million and we definitely will be meeting our friends for some dinner and drinks here!

The dry rubs wings were delicious. V Only 6 for $10, but they are large and meaty. Had the Chorizo Burger. Nice potato roll, easy to eat.

This place is in a great area and served great bloody Mary's. We went here to watch some NFL games and it was the perfect spot. All of our meals were great.

Arrived before the multitudes for lunch. Seated by Friendly staff. Delicious perfect portioned pork sliders topped with Cole slaw were my choice. My friend relished the Herb grilled chicken sandwich. Reasonable prices. Efficient, friendly service continued throughout the arrival of dining denizens. A definite do it again!

Even though we couldn't find the menu online we decided to take a chance and try this restaurant based on the reviews we read. We were not disappointed. We had a very knowledgeable server who walked us through the menu, including the beer list. We enjoyed their wings as an appetizer and a brisket and vegetarian sandwich for dinner. My kids ordered off the kids menu. The restaurant is open to the outside and has a nice feel to it. Over all, we all enjoyed our meal.

Umm we had a bottle of Sriacha at our disposal. Doesn't get much better than that. Our burgers were soo delicious and the beers were equally as awesome. We started off with the sampler of 4 drafts and it was wonderful because it allowed us to taste a few different beers for a cheap price. Then we picked our favorite and kept the rounds coming. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. We got a table upstairs around 7.. no wait. By the time we left (around 11) the place had turned into a great hangout place. The bar area was definitely crowded upstairs. Overall, it was delicious and we had a great time there. Definitely will go back!

We were on holiday in Philli and were staying just around the corner. We ate here one night and it was really fabulous. I had the most tender brisket with a decent serving of bacon mash and green beans, all of which was so so good. My dining companion had a combo plate with some ribs and chicken. Also delicious. The cocktails are great too. The only negative was the freezing cold fans above our heads! Highly recommended.

LOVE the wings here.

Super dinner last night!!! Out with a couple of work friends, we all had ribs and they were all great. Service was good, ambience was good, dinner was good, all was good.

Great good, huge fireplace goin in the wintertime..100's of beers to choose form

We were walking around looking for a place to have a great dinner at a reasonable price and oh my goodness, we got both when we chose this place! There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed the meal, service, and drinks unreservedly. The menu is not extensive but they do everything very well! We all agreed that the hand rubbed chicken wings were spectacular, with deep rich flavor that enhanced the meat and incredibly tender. I chose the rib and chicken combo, with hand rubbed spice and I was not disappointed in the least. Taste, portion size, very friendly and knowledgeable service. We all agreed to have desert - well, sort of - A pumpkin martini that was totally unbelievable, so much so that we all had seconds! The decor was in theme, Halloweenish and plain fun. The price was very reasonable and when next I visit Philadelphia this will be a dinner place for certain!

Food was delicious. I had the beef burger and my g/f had the salmon burger--both delicious. Great vibe and cool staff. Price was very reasonable, the two burgers, calamari appetizers, and iced tea came out to $40.

We were looking for a restaurant near our hotel (Palomar) and my friend had read about this place before. When we went, it was fairly empty. There was no menu that I could see on the window, however we had seen the menu already online. The restaurant was quite cold, with the temperature fairly low outside and big fans running inside. We did ask if it could be warmer but they couldn't do anything. I had the chicken and ribs. It was just amazing! I was so disappointed not to finish as it was some of the tastiest food I have had all year. I chose the sides of mac and cheese and beans. They were both amazing too. My friend had brisket and also loved it, particularly the mash that went with it. I would recommend this place to everyone who likes BBQ food, it is truly delicious!

Went here on a Saturday evening with no reservation and was able to get a table without a wait. Veggie burger and salmon burger were both quite good and service was excellent. Will likely return!

Great service by Tim upstairs. GREAT food - Smoked Chicken wings the best. Hold it Fried Green Tomato’s (Best I ever had). Fried with Parmesan Cheese and Pasta sauce. Dang they are so good. Great job.

It's restaurant week and we made a reservation 2 months in advance to come here... we arrive at 715, 30 mins early for our reservation... so we hit the upstairs ridiculously loud and busy bar. Hostess says our table will be ready in 20mins. No big deal. We wait... and 3 beers later- 2 hours in, we say forget it and leave. My husband checked on our reservation about an hour in and she said she figured we wouldn't want the table by the door, but we were next. I'd love to know what exactly happened here because everyone else seemed to be in the same boat. We left hungry and angry. Wouldn't give this place another try and can't believe this could happen.

Ok so I sat up stairs with my wife. The bartender nice guy and helpful and there was a decent vibe to the place. We ordered some drinks (which were reasonably priced) we felt peckish so just ordered a portion of fries. We could see right into the kitchen and I was watching the chef preparing our food. The waiter was standing close and as he took the bucket he dipped his hand in and was eating our fries while delivering it to us! Seriously dude we could see you.I didn’t bother calling him out on it. He just dumped the food and I asked for ketchup and mayonnaise. Under his breath he said were out of mayonnaise here’s your ketchup and walked off. He just had an attitude about him. I had to look for a fork and use the napkin for the ketchup. I won’t return.

Everything was great. We were there with our three teens ages 17, 14 and 11. We all loved the music and the setting. The dry rub wings and ribs were great. Mac and cheese was amazing. Love stout, if you are a dark beer drinker, was one of the best. Our whole family loved this restaurant!

This place has generally good food. The burgers were great, the drinks were spectacular and original and the appitizers were good. however their system of seating, service and billing is quite disorganized. There was no one to organize a table for us, the server seemed confused and I was charged an incorrect amount at the end of the night. Their food and drinks were amazing, i think they could just use better management

I have been to Devil's alley quite a few times, and every time I am never disappointed. Food is always on point, service is good, and never too crowded.

Disappointing Veggie Sandwich! Devil's Alley used to be our go-to lunch spot and we were never disappointed. However, after our lunch visit yesterday, we decided that would be our last. Their sandwiches and salads were always full of flavor and fresh. Our favorite was the roasted veggie sandwich. Served on toasted ciabatta (sliced) and loaded with a variety of fresh roasted vegetables a delicious sauce and a little cheese. The sandwich was so thick with veggies that I often took half home. We had lunch there a couple of months ago and were disappointed with the menu and our veggie sandwich, but we thought we'd give it another try yesterday. Again, the same awful veggie sandwich. Now served on a large soft, long roll with a thin layer of veggies; small strips of roasted peppers and small pieces of asparagus tips a couple of slices of zucchini, yellow squash and onion and melted provolone. Nice variety, but not much there. The roll is spread with hummus, which makes it soggy. After eating half the sandwich, I ended up just eating the veggies. All sandwiches are served with a mound of fries that could feed a family of four (normal size portions). All three of us left most of our fries for waste. One person in our party ordered a cup of coffee and it was served cold. When told, they replaced it with a hot cup. Their wines are $10 per glass, which I feel is a bit high for a place like Devil's, so we skipped it. Oh, yes, the bathrooms . . . . CREEPY!! Located in the basement where it is dark, dank and, well, creepy. There is usually a fan on to reduce the smell of dampness. The walls are painted black with a large, hand-painted devil and skeleton's on the toilet doors. Maybe they want it to look like that because it's Devil's Alley, of course. No lighting over the "sink," so you might even overlook it. After years of patronage, we're done.

My wife and I tried this location based on the tourist book in our hotel. It turned out to be a good restaurant, but a bit noisy due to the Phil Eagles Football game going on upstairs in the bar. The restaurant has an open ceiling and the bar is above. We received prompt service and good food. The decor was "interesting" and appropriate for the name! My wife's club sandwich was great and my ribs were as well. So overall this was a good experience for us. Being middle aged the name of the rstaurant would not normally attract our attention. But being mentioned in the Philadelphia Guide book tempted us to try something out of the ordinary for us. Good choice! Give it a try. I wouldn't recommend taking young kids to this one however.

What a great spot! Walking by it looks like nothing special, but inside the energy is high and the atmosphere is fun. We sat upstairs and though we were at a tiny table by the stairs, we still got great service (next time we'll try for a table by the open wall overlooking the street). Our waiter was fantastic, the beer list kind of short but great, and the food was awesome. My fish tacos had tons of flavor and my husbands chorizo and chicken nachos were fantastic. Just a cute spot that we will be back to. Didn't give it an excellent because the bathroom was pretty messy but, didn't ruin the night.

Devil's Alley is one block from my in-laws' condo, so we go here often when we're in Philly. My 5 year old daughter and 8 year old son always have a good time here. The employees are friendly, and they work hard. Devil's Alley serves breakfast, lunch and dinner well, and they are often busy throughout the day. This is a very reasonable restaurant for the location. We live outside of Baltimore, which is less expensive than Philadelphia. And Devil's Alley would be considered a reasonably priced restaurant in Baltimore. They have tasty sandwiches, barbecue and wings. For breakfast Devil's Alley offers many offerings that you would expect at a traditional diner.

The Pulled Pork Sandwich -11 out of 10!! Tasty, Moist, & Not Overly Spiced. The cheese was an awesome topping!! Brittany was professional & pleasant!! Blue cheese Burger cooked perfectly. Fries looked like they were overdone...but 2 my surprise-nice inside!! Philly has a secret spot 4 BBQ & this is it!!

Great location near the Mutter museum. Fast friendly service and great food. We had a killer grilled cheese and a pulled pork. Both were fantastic. Make sure that you venture down to the bathroom...it's part of the fun in this restaurant

The food was pretty good. I had the ribs. which was falling off the bone, but a little to over cooked. I felt every thing was just a little over cooked, but still tasted good.

While walking and looking for a place to eat in downtown Philly, my family and I stumbled across the Devil's Alley! What a great find! I had the blue cheese and bacon hamburger which was very tasty. Although, the my choice of doneness was not honoured, I still ate more than half of my burger. The fries were fantastic and we also had a side of corn muffins. Our server advised that everything is made fresh on a daily basis. FYI, the portions are HJGE!

Got to our apartment late pm and the heavens had opened. A long fight from London and an uber to Philly so quite tiring meant we were very receptive to the location of this bar a few yards from our airbnb. They had yeungling which is close to a British beer (the Americans love strong micro brewed beer wth huge amounts of fruit, if I want as cocktail I'd order one!) Happy hour and a couple of bar meals and we were well sorted. Great staff and a good atmosphere.

Yum, great comfort food.
Decent place to eat. Good prices
