Now this is how its Dim Sum done!

By Resorteye |

We are on a short visit to family in San Antonio and we wanted to try out this new (4 months old) restaurant. We were not disappointed. We got immediate service of delicious shimp and spinach pan fried thin skin dumplings and chicken buns from one of their roll around carts. From there the tasty journey continued through BBQ spare ribs, bbq pork bums, skicky rice beef in lotus leaves and much more. Great service with clear attention to food allergies in our group. Clearly a great place for lunch on a Sunday and likely dinners too. Full plate meals and soups are available as well at very reasonable prices. I fully recommend that you come in and check it out!

Best Dim Sum in San Antonio

By Travis73 |

Great experience. Went here with my wife and teenage son on Saturday at lunchtime. Busy but seats still available. They came around with the Dim Sum carts and variety was exceptionally good. Customer service was quite good as well as they explained what was available in each Dim Sum basket. Each basket was between $4.50-7.50. We were beyond full and with drinks bill came to about $70 total. They do have regular Chinese food dishes to order, but would encourage people to try their Dim Sum. Will go back again!

Dim Dum in San Antonio?

Well its fresh and the service was very good. The menu has about 20 or maybe a bit more Dim Sum items. No carts like at the larger Dim Sum houses. Well worth coming back too.

Good Dim Sum, But Other Items May Be Even Better

Was excited to try out this restaurant close to our house, especially after reading so many good reviews of the Dim Sum. Arrived early for Saturday lunch (dim sum carts roll Saturday and Sunday only, order off the menu other days/times), and were seated quickly. Almost immediately a cart came to our table, and we were off on our journey of discovery. In the end, we tried 9 different items between the 3 of us. The shrimp hargau and shrimp/pork shumai were very good, pork short ribs were tasty, but swimming in oil. BBQ Pork in a flaky french pastry was one of the best items. Stewed chicken feet were overly salty, as was the rice & meat steamed in a lotus leaf; a slightly sweet egg custard in a pastry cub was a great way to end the meal. Despite all the goodness of the dim sum, the item that really stood out to me was a plate of sliced BBQ pork - wasn't on a cart, but was carried out by the nice lady that I'm guessing is the owner (?). Absolutely delicious, not fatty, very tender. Will go back just for that (but also want to try other items on the menu). Service was great - cart drivers were very friendly and happy to explain what each variety of dim sum was made of, and also made recommendations.

Dim Sum

I try to find a restaurant serving DimSum anywhere I travel. I also try not to have any expectations. I was blown away by the DinSum at this restaurant. It is as good as anywhere I have eaten it. Vancouver, San Francisco, San Diego. Taipei, Hong Kong and the major cities in Australia, including the Tom Ho Wan franchises (he earned a Michelin star in HK). The service was excellent. The owner's teenage sons work the tables on the weekend and are particularly courteous and helpful. I might recommend the weekend over week days, but I would eat there anytime, and did. Worthy of a journey.

First Visit...not a good one

I know it just opened the beginning of August, but it did not pass in my book. We really wanted to give it a better review. The food that we got was great, however, the service needs A LOT more work. The staff was all nice and courteous, but our experience left us with a bad taste in our mouth...and it wasn't from the food. We walked in and was greeted and seated pretty quickly. It wasn't busy, but it was a nice crowd. The decor was spacious and you can see a few larger tables with lazy susans....I love restaurants with lazy susans. We then got our drink order in; two iced tea's and a pot of green tea with three tea cups-we have a party of 3. Then we were presented with two menus. A dim sum menu and a house menu. We ordered from both and was told to order from the dim sum menu first and then once we get that submitted, we can order on the house menu. In the middle of that, we asked for a glass of water and did not get that until we asked the third time. I guess this is where it unraveled. We had at least 4 waiters come to our table. The waiter that we gave the dim sum menu first to start with presented food in about 5 minutes. I then placed my house menu order in and had a brief conversation about the dinner combo vs the dinner plate and because I was ordering dim sum, I opted to order my meal from the combo side because it was smaller in portion, which I wanted and have my wife and daughter share the plate order. We did get our drinks in order after a few attempts. The food was great. I have to admit being from NY, the dim sum is close to Chinatown and the char sui bao is almost there as well. It has the potential and all yummy. The har gaw and shimp shu mai was great. Just no dipping sauce available, which is a bummer. Just plain soy sauce. After finishing the last of the dim sum, about 15 minutes pass because me and my wife were talking about our days and our daughter fell asleep at the table. I then asked the waiter that took house menu order about the dinners and there was no answer to why it was taking so long. The other waiter that seated us just said he made a mistake. That translates to me that he forgot to put in our dinner order to the back kitchen. I asked for it to be packed up to go if an when it comes out and asked for the check at the same time. My wife and daughter went to the car and slept for the additional 5 minutes or so waiting for our dinners now to go. I really wanted to have my meal there at the restaurant. Because it was a school night and an hour and half later, we couldn't stay because we had to drive back home which is another 20 minutes away. When I got home, I was able to taste some of the food and that was good. It is a such a shame that I have to write this review and have to now think about if I want to go back. Why? Because they made no provision of comping our drinks at the very least for the wait. Not one thing. There wasn't even a manager visit to apologize for the mixup. This is a bad first impression and warning to people who will go there from now on. It is a good place, good food (when we actually get it) and polite staff. The serving staff needs to get it together. It's really a shame.

This place was my go-to Dim Sum spot, but it's closed now and became a Thai place recently. We go to Golden Wok in place for now.

Fried bread sticks in rice noodles 炸兩 - What more of dim sum can you ask for in Texas?

By Rurouni Foodie |

I arrived around 1245 on Sat and waited about 30 min. It was not as busy as the other dim sum restaurants I have been to in Texas. When I walked in, I was surprised that they only operated at 1/3 of their capacity. 1/3 of the space was cleared out. 1/3 was used for storage of the tables and chairs. That left 1/3 of the space for actual dining area. Shrimp in rice noodles aka shrimp cheung fun - the cheung fun was soft and got the right texture. The shrimp was in good size, but could use some seasoning. Stuffed eggplant - The stuffing was tasty and got that impressive fried crunch texture on the first bite. Chicken mushroom buns or bao - The bao part was right, not too dense and felt fluffy in a good way. The chicken and mushroom with the ginger tasted good and cooked right (not overcooked). The ingredients settled right inside the bao, not overcooked and over stuffed like Golden Wok's. Steamed pork ribs - Pretty average, not bad. Chickened feet - This is pretty standard like from other restaurants. Fried shrimp ball - The crunch from the fried flour led the way to the shrimp ball which was well seasoned. You probably can't have just one. Fried bread sticks in rice noodles 炸兩 - The fried bread stick was good, except that it wasn't as crunchy as expected. Maybe it sat in the rice noodles a bit too long. The rice noodle was the same as the shrimp cheung fun. This dish just needed some chopped green onion as garnish on top. Overall, this is the best dim sum restaurant I have been to in the DFW (Kirin Court), Austin (Shanghai Restaurant), and San Antonio (Golden Wok) area. I am still surprised how it is not as busy as the other dim sum restaurants.

Very good dim sum

Dim sum was very good. People pushing the carts were very attentive. We ordered something not available in the cart so they had to special order that in the kitchen. It took a while but everyone was constantly checking the order for us. We are originally from NY so the dim sum restaurants in NY have more varieties but they definitely do the basic ones very good here. We came on a Sat afternoon and the place was busy but not packed.

Excellent Dim Sum

By Dave H |

The only thing missing were the dim sum carts. But the dim sum here rivals any I have have experienced and I have eaten dim sum in at least three countries. Let's start with drinks. I don't usually comment about the ice tea, but it's the best I have had in some time. The staff are so attentive and did a great job. Excellent hot and sour soup to start. All the dim sum was great! Shrimp Shu Mai, Shrimp Ball, Chive Dumpling, Daikon Cake. The Lotus Leaf Rice is one of my favorites. Very good Chinese Broccoli. The food and service was excellent.
