Beware of that the order matches the delivery

By auditor_g-s |

Excellent food like always at Din Tai Fung, the service is rather mediocre. We ordered XoBaoLu, and the waiter brought something else extra to our table. We were hungry, did it complain, still this is not correct. Not up to the reputation of DTF in Asia.

Beware of the bar....

By Warren W |

The food at this franchise is very good. Unfortunately, the service was mediocre at best! It might have been because I was in the bar. I was ignored for my entire meal. Normally, when I am eating, that does not bother me. When I am waiting for a menu, wanting to place an order, and trying to get my check, I do not appreciate it. The bar half filled during my stay, and everyone was served and left before me. Forgotten. Other than that, I recommend not eating in the bar AND trying the chef's delicious food. The tip I left was entirely due to the chef and his food.

A nice dining option in Portland, OR

This was the first time I dined at a Din Tai Fung restaurant in the US, and though I did not have the same experience as I did in Taipei and Shanghai, it was still very good. The restaurant is located on the lower level of the Pioneer Center mall, right in the heart of Portland. Of the dishes I ordered, the Pork Xiao Long Bao was good, but it did not have much soup inside as the one I had in Asia. The shrimp and pork spicy wonton was flavorful. However, what I liked the most was the noodles with diced beef and Szechuan peppers dish. Overall, the experience was good. BTW, I don’t want to be a snob, but the restaurant name is incorrectly spelled, making it harder for people to look, including myself.

Great lunch date with lots of shareable

Wonder Asian lunch. Started with soup and green beans, cucumbers the followed by dumplings. Lots of get shareable starters. For our meals we had shrimp fried rice and pork chop fried rice.

So delicious!

This was my first time here and it was fantastic. Get the pork dumplings. Get the cucumber salad. Highly recommend the Pear Lychee martini. The chocolate dessert dumplings are to die for.

Great food, tacky low class server

Went for happy hour. The dumplings, seaweed salad, and wood ear salad were tasty. Reminded me of Taipei. Service was attentive and prompt. Only thing keeping them from getting an "excellent" was at the end, for a $27 bill I gave the server $40, she asked if I wanted change back! I told her that's really tacky to ask me how much tip she's getting, does she seriously expect 50% tip, why can't she just quietly give me change, thank me, and let me figure the tip in peace, she didn't seem at all apologetic. Don't be a lazy server. This is not some dive bar where such behavior is ok.

great!

We've eaten at Din Tai Fung restaurants in other cities so we were really excited to try this location. My colleagues and I ate there for dinner the first night we were in Portland. Everybody loved it so much, we went back there the next day for lunch. What more can you say? The food is off the charts delicious. If we are ever in a city with a Din Tai Fung, we will be going. Recommend making reservations as far in advance as possible as all locations are extremely popular.
