Great Dive Bar

By Dennis08053 |

Every time we visit we have such a great time. Reasonable prices and a great time are always available. The staff is always so attentive no matter how busy and the patrons so friendly. It is a hole in the wall with not sign so you can easily miss. A definte stop anytime we are in town.

Does what it says on the Tin

By NickFalk |

Eclectic bar with a good selection of drinks and some interesting (wacky) decor, went on a Wednesday night was not that busy and only stayed for one drink. Not sure I would rush back but would not go out of my way to avoid

Perfect dive bar

By feldy1983 |

Dirty Frank’s is your quintessential American dive bar but with a bohemian twist. Get your fix of quality beers and cocktails, soak up the local banter, play some darts but also buy some art and play chess? What a great place! Wish we had one in England.

Best bar in Philly

By Jazzpah |

This is a bar where you can go as an individual without feeling awkward. It has a great selection of local beers and other beverages at decent prices. The bar crew is very nice and the place is packed with interesting people. The jukebox contains all the tunes you could wish for and there is a wall dedicated to local artists where they can exhibit their art. Great hideout in the city of Philadelphia where you can get to meet real people.

Awesome

Find this place and order a couple of beers. Hungry? Ask the bartender for menus of restaurants around there. Order out and eat it in this awesome corner bar

Love this little Dive Bar

By jadybugs |

We did some research and wanted to check this place out! Neat little place which was our first stop on our list for our dive bar pub crawl on our last night in Philly! I would recommend checking it out for sure! Plus they have pac man. Bartender was great too! I ordered a second drink when I still had about 1/4 left in my beer so she left a shot glass and when I took my last sip I had a full cold pint! They do not do that here in Canada but they should!

Philly local dive

By Ellen I |

Local eclectic dive bar. Wide selection of beverages. Nice size pours. Reasonable pricing. Cash only.

Great offbeat place

By Nick P |

This is one of your great offbeat bars. Good beer selection, great decoration, quirky walls (check out the art gallery, Yes art for sale) . Cash only is the only turnoff for me. But get a few laughs at some of the signs. Too cool to not go.

One thing is for sure...

By Tiergarten_2012 |

... this place doesn't care and will never care what anybody on Trip Advisor thinks of them. They just do their own thing, which is being a perfect dive bar. Cash only, no kitchen, don't expect too much from the rest room. Oh - and LGBTQ friendly, to boot.

Classic Dive Bar

By Gary J |

Don't expect anything but a dive bar when you go to Dirty Franks. Don't look for a sign out front either. You will see the exterior wall with paintings of "Franks" on it. That's the place. Go for a beer, a shot and a beer, drink cheap and have fun!

Artistic dive

What a cool place?? But beware cash only! Awesome art on the walls and feel like a local. Great location in city center. Worth a trip!

A great dive bar

By Mark613 |

We attended dirty Frank's and I have to say it was the most fun we had on our trip. The beer was cold and the hipsters were hip.

Super neighborhood bar.

By EmJayBV |

We arrived when they were having a comfort food competition. Great social atmosphere. Felt very welcomed and at home. You do not get many bars out there like this any more. If we lived in Philly, this would definitely be a regular spot.

Just Like Home

By Courtney M |

This place had a fun crowd and reasonably priced drinks. We enjoyed the quirky atmosphere and choice of local beers. We visited on a Tuesday night and I would bet this place only gets better on the weekend.

A little bit of Philly's past

By Jean T |

Cash only, old fashioned neighborhood bar, just go with an open mind and enjoy the moment They even have a old fashioned pinball machine.

I was on a solo trip from england. I went to this bar a couple of times. A good atmosphere and cheap drinks. would recommend

Good dive bar

went about 6:30 on a week day, not crowded which was fine by us. cheap drinks, mixed crowd, don't use the bathrooms. Fun place

Cheers of philly

Watched Monty Python, drank reasonably priced drinks with a friendly bunch of strangers. Fun little unknown corner of Philly. Cash only

Awesome Dive Bar

By bylandorbyair |

No doubt about it, Dirty Frank's is a dive. But it's been around for so long for a reason. Great staff, great specials. Worth a visit, especially with a group of friends.

Cockroaches galore

By Katie S |

Here is one of four cockroaches I shared a drink with. I went there twice and sitting in the booths/snugs if you pay attention they will be crawling on you. So gross. I can see why it's cash only.

Yup, it's a dive

By 🛶🏕🍷🍸🍹 |

You were expecting a excellent rating for a dive bar. Come on! Bad service, ants on the table, and dogs on the bar. Where else can you find this! Love it! And 2.50 for a shot and a beer. Great place to hang out with friends and get your drink on!

Great Dive Bar

By Charles D |

If you are in the South Street area, stop by this great dive bar. They have standard bottled beer like PBR and Bud, as well as higher end locally brewed beers. Didn't try the cocktails, so I can't comment. I'll be back.

Restaurant? It's a Dive Bar!

By Mary L |

Met a friend here for beers before a concert - it's definitely a dive bar (cash only, no kitchen) with a great jukebox, cool local art, and some good beers available. Not fancy but really interesting people and a great local place. I'll be back.

Quality dive with great specials

By T J |

Ok, so when I say great specials I might actually just mean special. That would be the pony bottle(7 oz) of beer and kamikaze shot for $2.50! I still haven't found a better deal in Philly...or maybe anywhere. Dirty Frank's was actually alot less dirty the second time I went there than the first, and they have made some improvements in decor as well. It's definitely a dive, but I like it and will certainly keep coming back. Proud to say i'm the first TA reviewer of Dirty Frank's!

Dive bar

By Marc V |

Don’t expect much if your looking for squeaky clean as Dirt Franks does exactly as it says on can I.E: cool dive bar with a wide range of music and cool art decoration, I liked it but this is my kind of place, would be my local if I lived in Philly

Brilliant bar

By chickenkeeper2017 |

Buzzing place, felt relaxed and loads going on with plenty of people enjoying themselves. Loved the art and the general ambience.

Love this Dive Bar

By lookinforlinks |

Ok, I will tell you upfront that I am a dive bar kind of guy. This place fits the bill. The first time that I saw it when my daughter moved nearby, I could tell it was my kind of place. No sign, a dog sitting outside chained to what turns out to be gumball machines with doggie treats. Inside is urban kitsch with some art for sale (haven't seen any I would purchase in the dozen times that I have been there). They really should just ask someone to sketch a picture of the front of the place and sell copies for 20 bucks and I would buy one. Bucket of free condoms near the old built in wooden telephone booth. Cheap beer, unpleasant bartenders, shots aplenty. Good Golly, Miss Molly, I will be back!

City special

By Cincy R |

A pleasant little dive bar. Don't expect much other than being a dive bar. There is some nice art work on the walls.

The name doesn't say it all.

By StoneSouped |

I LOVE THIS BAR! It's a down and dirty neighborhood joint. But it's actually pretty clean as down and dirty neighborhood joints go. It's a no frills shots and beers kind of place. I usually stop in between 4 and 7pm, the TVs are tuned to TCM with awesome old movies playing. There's a ton of Philly memorabilia hanging behind the bar, foam fingers, Mummer junk, lots of kitsch. My favorite spot is almost as far away from the entrance as you can get when sitting at the bar, all the way around by the booths. Theres a place on the bar top where glasses have rubbed back and forth so many times, there's a hole in the bar that you can see the floor through. I'll get a pic next time Im there.

Classic Philly with Good Art

By Herstory_62 |

Dating back to Prohibition, this historic classic watering hole sure isn't fancy & except for chips, offers no food; but surprisingly, good local art is exhibited on the walls & a sense of working class Philadelphia history seeps in & around the bare wooden bar.

Found by chance, great hidden gem

By jlshopper |

Stayed locally for 2 nights. Found by chance. Very welcoming. People watching. Great pours. Very reasonable. Ask for the shot and a beer special. Wound up going both nights we were there. As someone else said, if we lived locally it would be our hangout.
