Don't go if you have children or if you are accompanied by children.

By Mel Millan |

When we arrived at the place they told us that we could not enter with the child's car (stroller) due to local policies. Our son was asleep, so we had to leave the car at reception and hold him in our arms. Once we entered the room we asked if we could lay him down on two chairs and they told us that that was not possible either. Therefore we decided to withdraw. If the place is so strict with children or cars, they should directly suggest “not going with children”, to avoid a bad time for those who don't know.

Dirty French Steakhouse Miami - initially “great”, now reduced to “good”

By byMT305 |

Open for approximately 8 months in the Brickell area of Miami, Dirty French Steakhouse (Major Food Group) has quickly gone from outstanding quality -to- good (where many items were of uneven quality). On this return visit, we sampled many of the same items that we had previously enjoyed. The very best items that we had this time were: the complimentary yummy naan-like bread, the buttery mashed potatoes, the scrumptious hot crisp French fries, and the mushroom millefeuille The less good and/or disappointing items were: Cocktails (a harsh $26 Margarita), very average lobster ravioli ($48 for 3 ravioli), an over-salted over-Dijon Crab Louie salad, over-salted salmon entree, and a ribeye steak($92 a la carte) ordered “medium” and served “medium rare”. The price point should be accompanied by top tier menu items. In this respect, Dirty French was rather disappointing. I’m not sure what happened between our earlier visit several months ago and this more recent disappointing visit … Is this a case of the Broadway all-star cast being replaced by subsequent understudies?

Over the top steak restaurant

By Shane F |

Over the top Steakhouses! This place just opened a month ago and they do everything right. Service was amazing. Steaks were cooked perfect and the Duck L’Orange was the best I ever had! They serve this rosemary salted flat bread which was soft and incredible. They have mixologists at the bar who create incredible drinks. The atmosphere was sheek and background music was 80s. What I found particularly nice is although you had a main waiter there were a lot of ancillary staff which were available for any request. It is not cheap but you not horrible. I was told the wine list was exorbitant and drinks are expensive but it definitely is a special occasion place. I judge a restaurant by thinking if I would go back again and answer is yes!

Not French; Not a Steak House

By Dodger29 |

This trendy new spot on Brickell took over the former location of a moribund Morton’s. The interior has been redecorated but seems strangely the same. There are two big changes: the new spot is busy, in fact, it is jammed, noisy and jammed; but will not be that way forever. The food and service are both sub-Morton’s. Even one which could not make a go of it at the same location. The cocktail lounge was mostly empty and drinks were served without napkins. The noisy dining room was full of a fairly well dressed clientele. The clientele was not raucous, but the low ceilings echo the noise. Dirty French is in no way French. So what is it? It is a steakhouse at the low end of average. The cuts of meat were of average quality, certainly not on the high end of prime as are the best. The portions were small both of the beef and the side dishes. They do not even serve jumbo lobster or stone crab. None of the beef at our table of four was cooked as requested. Rare became medium; medium rare came inedible. All cuts were tough and appeared to have been out of the broiler for some time before delivery. They tasted old, not aged, but old. The naan-like bread was excellent. But hardly why one goes to a steakhouse. The waiter seemed generally “out of it,” as if dropping off dishes were his sole responsibility. Even obtaining silverware was a chore for him. Desserts were average. But by the who cared? Oh, I forgot the appetizers; no wonder, they were neither “appetizing nor memorable. I hate to say it but the old Morton’s was better in quality of food product, preparation of food, service and even variety. This place needs help!

Watch your credit card

By NY-LON-PB |

Wary to arrive for a drink and be informed we had to surrender a credit card in advance to ‘run a tab.’ Said we were tourists paying with cash. Told we still had to provide a credit card. Left and went to The Drake across the street, where we were treated courteously, and happily paid for our drinks and snacks when we finished, and no shady hassle.

Upscale, trendy, romantic

My daughter treated me to an evening at Dirty French on Mother's Day. It was our first time there. As you enter, you notice low shiny gold ceilings, hear loud 80s music on a cheaper sound system, see cool looking zebra skin covered chairs and booths, beautiful chandeliers and lamps, low lights, white linen table cloths, ferns and other green foliage wallpaper for a jungle/tropical effect. The clientel are mostly dressed fancy and speaking loudly in competion with the loud music. The dining areas were packed, but oddly, the beautiful bar area was empty! Was that because of the outlandishly high prices for drinks and wine? Our expectations of this restaurant were sadly disappointed as the night wore on. The service was rather slow, and we wound up being in the dining room for 3 long hours! Our server was Elsa F. There were a few problems with the food that were unexpected. We ordered the Prime Rib for 2 ($180), expecting the best we had ever eaten. We ordered medium but were served rare with lots of fat and grissle. We sent it back, but the manager came out and told us that it had been cooked for 36 hours at a very low heat and that the spices they use turns the meat red but it was actually a medium. You could've fooled us on that one! He had no idea of the fabulous restaurants we have eaten at all over the world. He saw our faces and agreed they could sear the steaks. When brought back, the steaks were much better but much smaller after we had to cut off the inedible parts of it. I felt like I was taken advantage of when it came to ordering a glass of wine. Our server had me taste 2 wines. The first had a bitter after taste, and the last was smoother. So I picked the latter one. She never showed me a wine list nor mentioned the price per glass. Unbeknownst to me, she sold me a $38 glass of wine. It wasn't even that good. So be sure and ask what you're getting before saying yes. I know they do this on South Beach but did not expect it from Dirty French in Brickell. The buttery mashed potatoes were good but too "soupy" in texture. The tiny little bowl they were in for 2 people had us shaking our heads. The beef carpaccio was ok. The mushrooms were very good. The complimentary naan bread with hummus was good. Lucky for us, the Creme Brulee with Caramel glaze was delicious! Same with the Beignets, but they still are second to Cafe du Monde's. We did speak to Michael, the manager, who was very understanding and took good care of us during the evening. We valet parked because there was no street parking. The valet staff was very nice and customer oriented. My rating was a 3.5 and rounded up to a 4.

A Great Dining Experience!

By Michael W |

This was not the best steakhouse I've been too but it's certainly worth the visit. The place has a great vibe. The service was absolute first class. Angel was our main guy and he and his crew could not have been better. We started with the lobster ravioli and while I think it was extremely expensive, 3 for $5, it was amazing. One of the best pasta dishes we have had. I then had the prime rib which they call world famous. Not so much. Solid, maybe even very good, but far from great. I prefer more marbling on my prime rib so if you want a lean prime rib this may be for you. The others split the ribeye and loved it. Our sides were very good. Mushrooms were great, the fries were crisp, and the very unusual looking cream spinach tasted better than it looked. It was pureed. We finished it off with the beignets with caramel sauce and the homemade vanilla ice cream. Very good. Almost a five star, but not quite. But worth the trip!

Excellent food and attentive service

By 1879fulham |

A really nice restaurant albeit I though the decor was a bit out there more a high end brothel ( I should imagine lol) than a high end restaurant. The colour scheme was loud! ! That aside the food and the service was amazing. We were seven so following the delicious bread serving we then chose a selection of starters that included Scollops , oysters and calamari. All were delicious. Following this a number of the group went the steak route but I chose the duck which was top drawer. The sides were great in particular the sprouts and the fries. Overall a great experience one that I hope to repeat in the not too distant future . Price-wise not cheap but worth every penny.

Great Miami Vibe and Atmosphere!

By WBCThree |

The best vibe in a restaurant! The steaks and prime rib was awesome. Cocktails were superb. Appetizers excellent- have the mushroom! George gave us great service- the best. However, the $135 Dover sole “special” was not fresh. It tasted fishy for $135. and nobody cared. To offer another one is not the answer.

Wonderful

Incredible food, service and ambiance. The dover soul was out of this world, cooked to perfection with a wonderful presentation. Bread on table was different and delicious. The glassware is beautiful. The chairs are comfy. And the music is nice.

Incredible Dinner..

Walking in, you sense this is not your ordinary nice restaurant. The atmosphere is vibrant to garish to magical. The staff was extremely attentive to our table of 4, throughout the night. The Chicken & Crepes for Two is worth going back for. Prime Rib was seasoned just right. The Cream Spinach overly salty. The Mashed potatoes had a creamier than usual consistency, and were delicious. The Chocolate souffle was good, but will try something else next time. Wine list is extensive with very few options below $200. for a good Cabernet. Overall, this is a must for special occasions- can't wait to go back.

Wouldn’t recommend

Terrible experience I asked for a tomahawk and the stake looked oxidized and tasted funky for a $ 315 steak, managers could do more and servers didnt know menu.

Great steaks and service !

By Oban Jane |

This place totally impressed me and my family!!Great food and great service .The steaks where so good really tender and the char flavour oh my god !

Great hostess, dark, low ceilings, too loud, pretty bad 70s/80s music pipes through cheap sound system, small table

By alessandro z |

Hostess accommodated us with great enthusiasm. Last room to right. Too dark in my opinion not reminiscing of a ny steakhouse, captains wearing pink jackets do not belong, overpriced wines, good steak with poor presentation, cheap loudspeaker system pipes in 70s/80s loud music, smallest tables. Limited menu. Appetizer was good, rib eye was good and tender and well cooked as well as the filet mignon. Filet mignon plating poor. Sommelier pushing overly expensive wines. No Italian wines in the wine list. Trying to overcharge on water bottle. Overall disappointing. Will not return

The the Gnocchi app. Skip the truffles.

By Kapricca |

It’s very cool and swanky. Great scene and beautiful decor. There’s a small lounge and bar area, separate from the dining rooms, that would be great for cocktails. The steak is great. They offered truffles! But get the gnocchi without the truffles and they’ll still be the best gnocchi ever! 1 order was not enough for 5 people to share - they were too good.

Skip this place!!

Since Dirty French Steakhouse in Miami is not yet on TripAdvisor, I’ll add it to their New York location. Dirty French opened some months ago in the old Morton’s basement location that obviously didn’t work. It is now very dark and with the low ceilings extremely loud. Definitely NOT worth going. Attitude starts at the hostess desk😩 with tons of attitude. Make sure you do not get seated in the service station. Yes, service station. They used a tiny area on the side for four or five booths that seat 4 people. Between the booth and the service station there is maybe 4 or 5 feet. Ceilings low, and swamped with servers who work from this area. HORRIBLE. Food was not bad, but you can get a much better steak at Papi Steak or Prime 112 or Flemings. Really. The wine list is obnoxious with the wine priced 4 or 5 times cost. Ridiculous. So there are tons of wines 1000+++, but no normal wines at 3, 4, or 500. If you know your wines, and you also pay the bill, you would be crazy ordering anything. Really. Skip this place.

Family dinner

The place is beautifully decorated we had already gone twice and had a great time. The service is good but it is Expensive ratio food price my filet mignon dry wine well cooked when I ordered it medium. They charged us the most expensive corking I paid in my life 95 dollars!!! It's too expensive for what they're worth. I don't recommend it. There are a lot of options in Miami. Better and more normal prices. A lot of empty tables.

Worst Service

the service is a team that dresses and behaves as if they were famous in hollywood. they treat customers like they enjoy an audience and they don't leave the pedestal stage

Outstanding Steak House and Bar in Brickell - Miami's version of Annabel's

By carlosdieppa |

Bar is great to get a few drinks before the restaurant. Appetizers are amazing, all the steakhouse classic's and a great Dover Sole. Wine list is strong. Major Food Group nows how to run a high end place and they cater to the I want the best of the best crowd so ideally come for special occasions.

Worst Manager ever, Food sub par

By Boyd Tasker |

Manager Mark is awful. I have left a full review on Open Table but seriously folks this was a $440 waste of time. Horrible manager, food terrible, scallops, shrimp cocktail, smelly and dry snapper and a duck that had to be sent back. They asked if they could reheat it, are you kidding me. Plenty of great choices in our city, this is not one. Treatment was the absolute worst.

Amazing! Can’t wait to go back!

Dirty French Steakhouse - this place is REALLY EXCELLENT!!

By byMT305 |

Open for approximately 3 months (part of the Major Food Group NYC), Dirty French Steakhouse (located on Brickell Avenue in the prior Morton's location) is an outstanding restaurant! Service is great, food quality is truly excellent, and ambiance is fun/stylish (the sound system is loud, and plays a fun '80's mix of: Donna Summers, Blondie, KC & the Sunshine Band, Bee Gees etc (We enjoyed!), and the prices here are commensurately high. We sat in the mirrored "Miami" room (adjacent to the Zebra room) where most tables are for 4 people and seating is quite comfortable. We enjoyed the following (noting that EVERY SINGLE item that we tried was EXCELLENT): Complimentary - a buttery, leavened naan-like bread - very tasty! House cocktails - a Margarita and a Manhattan - both very good Mushroom Millefeuille - very thinly sliced portobello mushroom in a light curry sauce - a really delicious appetizer Crab Louie salad - MOUTHWATERING DELICIOUS!! Scottish Salmon entree - excellent (cooked "medium" to perfection) Ribeye steak - perfectly cooked medium, nicely salted - an absolutely MOUTHWATERING DELICIOUS steak!! Pommes Frites - served hot, crisp, and tasty Opera cake - a tiramisu-like layered cake w/ salted coffee ice cream - a DELICIOUS dessert This was our first visit to Dirty French, and in addition to fun ambiance and excellent service, it's a very good sign when every single food item that we tried was excellent. Dinning here is a real treat, and we certainly look forward to returning!!

Exquisite ambience, but

By Stanley G |

Exquisite ambience, but. The restaurants decor is over the top bordering on gosh. The service is exceptional, professional competent and attentive. The wait staff is it attired in pale pink tuxedos and elegant in their appearance. Unfortunately, the restaurant is so noisy it is very difficult to talk to the people you are dining with, which detracks from the enjoyment of the meal. The menu is limited and the food was only fair with extremely pricey items.

Mehhh

WAY over priced, average food, uninspiring steaks. Would not go back, would not recommend. Compared to other steak houses, this would not be a good to.

We didn’t spend enough, so we got kicked out!

By okidoc |

I would have given this place a 5 if not for the last minute tackless move to kick our group out of our table. We made a reservation to this place and it’s supposed to be an upscale steakhouse but as soon as we got in, the music was like a blaring 80’s disco music! We were ushered in a corner table that I think seats 4 but had all of us 6 fit in that table. The music was so loud we can hardly hear each other. We requested our waiter to tone it down a bit. The waiter and the manager presented us with all their specials for the night from wine and cocktails to appetizers and main course. He’s very knowledgeable of the menu but not pushy. The wine selection is fine but they don’t have moscato. They offered me Bugey-Cerdon instead. The rib eye steak is ok but nothing out of ordinary you’ll find in a steakhouse. Service is outstanding and food came out quick and served hot. I liked their bread and beef carpaccio. The sole fish taste great. The chocolate soufflé is fantastic! Our bill was $1,300 excluding $250 tip. We just finished enjoying our coffee and dessert and still having conversations when a guy in suit approached our table and asked us to continue our convo at the bar! After spending that kind of money, I don’t think we deserved that kind of treatment. They basically kicked us out of our table. They could have waited a few more minutes and we will definitely leave that place to go to another bar. For them to tell us that is just tackless, doesn’t speak well for the restaurant. If you want to have loyal patrons, you don’t give your customers shabby treatment. I can’t recommend this place.
