Check your receipt.

By Anna T |

Check your receipt. We visited the restaurant at about 9pm. When we arrived there were a few people in the bar area, and a live act playing music - this seemed like a good vibe. We walked to the dining area and we were one of 4 tables - the decor is really nice, but the atmosphere is lacking on a Monday. Due to an offer they had on (50% off Californian wines 9pm-12am), we ordered a $40 bottle of white wine. The waiter returned with a $70 bottle of red with the same brand. We asked them to return with the white as initially requested. The food (we had the pork belly, brisket and salmon) was tasty, and it was a good portion size. For a meat and two sides we thought that $23-25 per person was reasonable. When we checked the bill, we could see that we had been charged for the $70 bottle. When we asked to have this removed, the waiter said that the white version was also $70, which was incorrect. The bill was revised. Luckily, I had already read some reviews which said to be careful of the itemisation on the bill, so I was prepared to check this before giving payment. Honestly, it felt like they were trying to rip us off, which made us leave with a bitter taste in our mouth. I would recommend that you check that the wine / bill provided is correct.

Delicious lunch and great service

By 616howardm |

Located inside the Bloc Plaza level. Valet and self park available. Restaurant can validate parking. Restaurant has tables and booths. I had the House Smoked BBQ Prime Beef Brisket with grilled veggies and french fries. Meat was very tender and comes with side of BBQ sauce. A large platter that was very filling. One companion had the Roasted Cage Free Half Chicken. Tender and tasty. My other companion had the Roasted Chicken Breast Sandwich. All came with 2 sides. Delicious herbal iced tea. Server was very friendly. Smiled a lot. At lunch that day which was a rainy Monday restaurant was not crowded so noise level was not a problem. If in downtown LA definitely try this spot for lunch.

great, friendly service

Ate breakfast here. Buffet looked good but ordered from the menu. Food was good, service better. Enricho was very friendly and attentive. Hopefully, you will be lucky enough to visit and share the same experience!

Awesome vibe

By marc f |

Needed a place relatively close to the Ahmanson. This was not really walking distance - at least not during the unusual cold snap in LA - but close enough we could easily zip over after dinner. You park in the BLOC parking structure. Use the up ramp to go to self-parking where the restaurant can validate your ticket, reducing the charge (we paid $4). Love the vibe and ambiance of the place. Would be great to hang out and have some drinks and appetizers. In our case, we had two families of 4 and they accommodated us, no problem at all. Everyone was so nice. The waitress was smart and personable and the service was very good. The manager came by a couple of times to check on us. We asked for several things after the fact of the server - ranch dressing for the fries, etc - all met with a smile and quick service. The food was also top notch. Dishes we had included the hangar steak and flat iron steak frites (one each), the ribs, the salmon, shishuto peppers and the brussel sprouts. Everything was above average good. Price for each family of 4, including tip, was about $140 - and that was with several drinks. If you are in the area of the LA Sheraton, it's worth going to.

Great business dinner

Great food, just recently redecorated so nice ambience. Good beer menu as well. Well above a typical hotel restaurant.

Very cool vibe

By PilotMichael |

Under the Sheraton Grand Hotel in downtown Los Angeles is a lounge called The District, and it has a very cool vibe. You will love the atmosphere, and many choices of good beers and wines. Plus a full bar. And a nice happy hour menu with lots of food at a good price.

Hidden Gem

By KatK |

Great food, service (especially Enrique) and ambiance - I wish I could tell you about the other entrees, but I keep coming back for the Kale Cobb Salad!!! It's so fresh and delicious. One of these days will have to change my entrée. All the entrees I see floating by also look fresh and nicely plated. Definitely recommend!

Great atmosphere and food

By mcloum |

This restaurant is located on the Plaza level of the Sheraton Downtown LA. Due to time constraints I didn't get a chance to get any of the main items, but the appetizers were amazing. I loved the Korean tacos and wanted to eat those endlessly.

Drinks and appetizers

By Meems2020 |

I am spoiled since I work next door and visit here at least once a week. The staff is always warm and welcoming and I feel like it is my "Cheers" every single time. I prefer to sit at the bar if I'm flying solo or with my boyfriend and you get the full menu there as well. If you enjoy a perfectly crafted cocktail go for their signature Beatnik or Dark and Stormy....so good and a great way to get your night started. Trust me you will not regret it although I may because my little secret is being exposed!

Excellent Dinner

Great personal attention on a weekday evening from Virginia, Elizabeth and the rest of the team. Raul cooked us two beautiful tender steaks, with great trimmings. Thanks.

Breakfast & Happy Hour

By speedracer211 |

I was staying at the Sheraton and popped down here for a drink and snack before I headed out for the night. Happy hour starts at 2pm and goes until 7pm. The prices are reasonable and there's a decent selection. I came down about 3:30 and the place was pretty empty except for a few other hotel guests. I started with the Moscow Mule which other people on Trip Advisor had suggested. I watched the bartender "make" it and was disappointed. The Moscow Mule was premade and dispensed from a spigot like the beer. I can see how this could save time but I don't care for premixed cocktails and didn't order another one. Also it came in a regular glass instead of a copper mug. I changed to vodka sodas after that which were at least made fresh. I also ordered the shrimp off the happy hour menu. For some reason it took a really long time for a chilled shrimp cocktail. When it came I was happy. For $6 you get 3 large shrimp, prepared correctly so they weren't rubbery. I couldn't taste much smoke in the Smoked Vodka Cocktail sauce but it was a nice snack before I got ready to go out. The Club level in the Sheraton was packed on Sunday morning so they offered the buffet free of charge in District for any guests who wanted to go down there. I did along with my friend and the spread was pretty much the same as what you get in the Club level but with waiter service and included scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, oatmeal, and french toast. If you have Club level access though just go there for the same food but free.

Terrific Happy Hour!

By EndlessVoyage |

We were guests at the Sheraton upstairs and bailed on their club' sad happy hour ($ 13 for wine!!) to go to District. Fantastic happy hour with $5-$7 drinks and half price appetizers. Great appetizers with large portions and inventive. Service was very professional and lounge chairs add to ambiance - I would definitely return!

Perfect breakfast and lunch spot

By RobertaGlick |

I am in town for 3 days and am staying at the Sheraton in Downtown LA. The hotel has a restaurant downstairs that is just lovely. I was greeted with a smile from Enrique Mendoza. His suggestions for breakfast were spot on as was the service! He made mention of lunch, so I decided to revisit. Once again spot on. It is rare that we find people who truly care about their jobs and take take pride in what they do. Enrique is clearly a true professional in every sense of the word! Looking forward to breakfast tomorrow!

Fun place, right by the Sheraton grand

By dbsopera |

Needed a quick lunch, with some quiet tables and this fit the bill. Average prices for area. Good service I had a burger, asked for rare and got it, with a really delicious salad. Friend had butternut squash soup and handmade potatoe chips Both lunches were really delicious. The soup was exceptional Recommended

The District Resturant in the Sheraton Grand.

By Jsb53 |

Good Menu and the service was excellent. It is down in the basement and feels a little confined. It is next to the lounge which after the remodel will be open to the mall (grass area) and will give it a more open feel.

Great Happy Hour excellent people watching!

By staceylevasseur |

We were staying at the Sheraton for a long weekend and came downstairs to check out the restaurant and they had a happy hour in the lounge. Really interesting setting, you take the elevator expecting to be in an enclosed space, but the lounge is partially outdoors in an open courtyard near a big Macy's next door. We had the Mojitos which were excellent, only we missed having it served in a copper mug. Other than that, great spot to have a cocktail and people watch as the Metro station is also right by.

Industrial decor, OK food.

By abcpoet |

Stopped in for a quick dinner. Gnocchi was supposed to be made with purple potatoes--instead it was made with carrots and far too sweet. Service was good, but I wouldn't come back. The setting is like being in the basement of a factory. Noisy, cold, machinelike.

Great Find

By tomytiangco |

I got trapped inside my hotel for lunch due to the pouring rain in LA. Because of this, I decided to check out the t the District Restaurant located inside the Sheraton Grand Downtown Los Angeles. I wasn't expecting much and figured it would be just another hotel restaurant. I was wrong! I sat down and was welcomed by my amazing server Enrique. Enrique was welcoming and was passionate about the food on the menu. I asked him what he recommended and he went straight to the brisket. All i gotta say is that it was one of the best briskets i have had! Excellent recommendation Enrique! I was disappointed I didnt get a chance to get out and see some restaurants in LA due to the weather but the Sheraton did a really great job of turning things around with this restaurant. Do try! I will definitely come back! Oh and the brisket meal only cost me $25 tax and tip in with an iced tea. Perfect for a nice work lunch!

Great cocktails at Happy Hour. Reasonable prices. Very close to metro-line. Wonderful bar menu.

By Brian E |

I stayed at Sheraton Grand for 5 nights last week. the bar had a smoke machine to make smokey cocktails

Good service but expensive for tiny portion size

By Tabitha C |

We came to district to enjoy a few cocktails and grab a quick dinner on a Saturday evening. The service was great during our visit and we were given prompt service as soon as we sat down at the bar. The pricing of the menu was a bit on the expensive side. I decided to order the L.A. Tacos for my dinner entree, which tasted great but were very disappointing due to their size. For an entree that is $19, it was very disappointing that the tortillas were half the size of a normal small corn tortilla.

Nice restauraunt by hotel

By GlobalTraveller81 |

This joint is past of Sheraton hotel. Good menu selection, great list of drinks. Nice service. Stopped here for some lunch and my salad was great.

Newly refurbished, good food, slow kitchen.

By DougTMesa |

This restaurant looks brand new. It has just been newly refurbished and the atmosphere is good. The kitchen staff must be brand new, because they were slower than molasses. Eat the buffet and you will not have a problem with that. Good food.

Great Food

By NikkiA179 |

Twice now , not disappointed with food or drinks. We’ve sat at the bar both visits with exceptional service and good quality food. We re immensely this spot.

A *very* pleasant surprise!

By Rodolfo Paiz |

I don't normally expect great things from hotel restaurants, which often have subpar service and "meh" food. District was a delight, though. The servers were fast, friendly, and patient with our kids. The food was great... everyone at the table loved their dishes. Prices are reasonable given the context. And the place was very quiet on a weeknight. What's not to love?

The District restaurant in the Sheraton Hotel

By Christie H |

A hidden little gem in the beautiful Sheraton Hotel. Greeted by a very friendly staff and our server, Virginia could not have been more engaging and helpful. Service was excellent and the food was so good. We shared a huge Caesar salad which was so crisp and cold followed by tender pork ribs with a great barbecue sauce and two ears of corn and cole slaw to die for. The presentation was on a plank making it easy to dig right in. The bread pudding was very tasty and we just had the best time. I highly recommend this restaurant. Oh, the price points were great. A lot of food for the value.

3 1/2 to be fair

By Brinicward |

Chicken cord on bleu looked amazing but the chicken was a little dry. The brisket was pretty good. Mashed potatoes ok. Beet and pear salad was pretty good - need a little bit more balsamic. The grilled cheese with prosciutto was really good. Fries pretty good. Grilled shrimp, meh. Cute place. Good for a big group. Good service. Food is average. And expensive.

Great place to eat and drink

By Rich T |

Awesome bar staff, amazing cocktails that are as fun to watch make as they are to drink. High class establishment with excellent service.

Good steak

By eugeneq69 |

Had lunch and drinks at the district during our stay at LA. Top service and food. Good ambiance. Selection of cocktails and wines was good. Selection of food excellent, and the service was with a smile and very professional.

Gorgeous bar!

By Gushguire |

Excellent food and daily drink specials make this an excellent choice especially if you're staying in the Sheraton Grand.

Family away from home!

By Ashley H |

I travel often to LA for work and always stay at the Sheraton. The staff at the district is so lovely and I feel safe and welcomed there! Oh, and the food is all delicious! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Ask for Enrique for breakfast or lunch!

Robyn makes a MAD Moscow Mule

By Jim K |

Great atmosphere and staff. Bartenders are helpful, happy and accommodating. They will fine tune drinks to your satisfaction. Robyn, however, is off-the-charts excellent. She’s new, but an excellent addition to the team. Great choice!!

Pretty Good, Worth it and Service is Great Too

By lachim4114 |

Didn't make a reservation but we asked the hostess if there was a table we could get that a party was not arriving for (either because they canceled, no show or their reservation was later). Then we had the best waitress. We had somewhere to be and running late and she got our orders in and talked to the chef and boom we were good to go...Virginia *GINA* was a sweetheart and made it better. Drink..I had an old fash and it was potent and awesome. And the food...can't remember what we got...but it was all really really good.

Fine Food, Great Service

The food here was just ok. The service was great. Virginia took care of us so well I'm actually writing a review on Tripadvisor.

Nice find! DTLA

By Frank M |

Wow, what a nice find! We ate there over the weekend as we were DTLA f(DOWNTOWN LA) For a show and a stay overnight ... food was really great! Did Happy Hour and had maybe the best Moscow Mule's we've ever had, we both loved them ... VERY ODD though, they refused to serve them in the normal copper cup or they'd have to charge us more because that's what they do at happy hour ... in my long life, I have NEVER been served a Moscow Mule in a "glass" glass? But, I will admit, they were delicious, but missed out on the "experience" which is key. We did the 3 apps for $20, which is ridiculously cheap for LA and they were equally delicious ... had the quesadillas, deviled eggs, and tacos ... loved them, sauces "ok", but apps fantastic ... funny thing, right in the middle of eating, admittedly almost done, but the staff came and picked up our plates, and there was still food and we had not finished ..... he never asked, "how is everything, or are you finished so I can clean up your table" ... he literally zoomed in and took our meals??? We had not finished ... we smiled and told our waitress, who was nice ... but seemed very new and maybe not experienced working at a fairly nice/hip place .. she apologize, but did not offer to replace or comp, or a drink on the house ... again, they took our food away without asking and without us being finished. All in all, I have to give 5 starts because the ambiance, the food, drinks were super delicious ... I hate to give only 4 stars as we really liked the place, so we recommend you go! It was great food and drinks, and a fun place ... next time, toss me a deviled egg though on the house! Good work, delish!

Good Food

By Michael M |

Went for dinner on a slow night. Food was excellent. It took awhile to get our food and I was brought a wrong, more expensive, glass of wine. Server made up for it with a free desert. Lounge and bar area is in the front, tables for dining are tucked around the back.

Burger is ehhh

By brendaf007 |

Had the impossible burger which was impossibly salty. The bun is over sized and the coleslaw tastes funny. The best aspects of this meal were fries and the nice waitress. She always checked on the table

Interesting industrial design - and a decent breakfast too!

By John B |

The restaurant only opened in June and the designers definitely wanted to give it a hipster feel with an industrial look – an open ceiling with ductwork and exposed pipes and tall pipes at the entrance way with industrial gauges attached to them. It creates a bit of a grunge feel but the room retains a slightly upscale atmosphere (the adjacent lounge had very inviting large and comfortable looking sofas and chairs). We had breakfast at the restaurant and there is an option of choosing the buffet or ordering a la carte. The menu is chocked full of interesting items with a strong southwest/Mexican theme – the huevos rancheros was excellent. The buffet is a decent option and you're able to get eggs made to order rather than solely relying on the scrambled eggs on the buffet table.

No need to go again

By Northern_Traveler00 |

Had a lunch reservation before a matinee at one of the nearby theaters. We arrived just before noon, first party into an empty restaurant. Got placed at a booth near the kitchen. OK. Then a party of six arrived, and they were seated right next to us in a large, empty restaurant. Why? We guessed it was easier for the server to have everyone close together? The server was actually very good. My burger and fries seemed quite “food service-y”. The others had the quinoa bowls. Food was pretty good. THEY AUTOMATICALLY ADD A 20% TIP TO THE BILL, which they do mention on the menu, but it would be easy to add another tip.

Every course of our meal was outstanding

By Vance C |

You should start with the kimchi deviled eggs. The grilled jerk chicken and the mushroom ravioli did not disappoint. We finished it off with a wonderful slice of cheesecake with a strawberry drizzle. The signature drink, “Opium” has one of the best presentations I’ve ever seen, and it tasted great as well.

Delicious food and great service!

By John V |

I went here with my family for lunch and the service and food was great. Our waitress, Gina, was incredibly nice and helpful. The service was very fast and the food was nice and hot. I will definitely come back again!

New innovative drinks

By lizzienicolem |

Constantin at the bar made the best drink! Some awesome autumn themed creation with pear, ginger, Cabernet, vodka, wine and most importantly cinnamon. Tastes just like a fall night. Wish I could come back again and again!

Terrible service!!

By Nicole G |

Ok, so my family gets into California late. We decide to eat at the hotel. We go to the district. Not crowed. We are seated promptly, and our waitress comes by to introduce herself and says she will be right back. I’m thinking how thoughtful and this is going to be good. Btw, we are tired so we just want to eat and go to the room. I get a water, my husband orders a beer and my daughter gets a cocktail. We ordered food; deviled eggs for an app., chorizo Mac and cheese, jalapeño cornbread, chicken cordon blue, and tacos. The food was not bad (do not order the chicken cordon blue!). The waitress was so bad. We get our app and all of the food before my daughter get her drink and my husband gets a beer!! I don’t know if that has ever happened to us before. Really? The she knew we were upset so she took 20%off the bill, but she charged us for 2 Mac and cheeses. This places gets good reviews, but the service is not good. Too many other choices!

Girls weekend

By Michael P |

Came here for a casual dinner. Stayed at the hotel. Nicely decorated looked newly remodeled. Nice bar food was ok but we only had salads. Best part was our server her name was Virginia! She was completely everything you want in a server. Friendly, honest, attentive and personable. The restaurant is lucky to have her for an employee! True asset

Great breakfast and service

I went to The District while staying at the Sheraton Downtown LA. The service kept me coming back. Great food. Fast and friendly service. Especially from Enrique. I recommend the Eggs Benedict.

super friendly staff!

We sat in the bar area and shared the chicken fried steak and a burger. I liked how it led outside to the outdoor courtyard area called the bloc.

Happy hour offers a nice selection of small plates and wine along with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff

Great Decor and Excellent Food at Moderate Prices

By onetaxingguy |

Restaurant is downstairs, in the Bloc shopping complex in DTLA. Walk through the bar area with a live DJ and loud music into the very inviting, and more subdued, restaurant. Great décor: very creative and inviting. Reservation acknowledged immediately and were then seated at a booth. Virginia was our waitperson and she was the best! Very lively, helpful, and assisted in directing us to the best choices of drinks, food, and desserts. Beers on tap were a nice choice and reasonably priced. Appetizers: we had the butternut squash bisque that was superb and Tamari Deviled Eggs- excellent. The crab and artichoke flatbread was really enjoyable, while the flat iron steak frites was very flavorful and generous in size. The steak was not as tender as it could have been but with the truffle fries and side salad, was well worth the price. Desserts were creative and excellent. Their take on a bread pudding was truly superb. Well worth a stop if you are in downtown L.A. and want a casual, enjoyable meal in a very comfortable atmosphere.

I expected more...

By Solosailorgirl |

When I got to the hotel after traveling all day, I stopped in for dinner. I ordered the Lobster carabona. When it was served, the plate looked very nice. However, the half lobster was overcooked and the tail was rubbery. The plate had a strong fishy aroma like old fish. There was pieces of fish (salmon? cod? who knows?) in the pasta. Other than tasting like old fish, it was pretty tasteless. I did not eat much of it and even so, worried that I might get sick on it. The waitress, Virginia, had a great personality but when she presented me with a check for $170 for lobster and two drinks, I had to wave her back over. She had added a bottle of wine to the check $98. She went back to correct it and brought me a check for $98. Sigh. I told her I needed the itemized check and finally she brought the correct check of $53. This seems to be a theme as I sat with a collegue eating later that evening. Virginia over charged us for too many glasses of wine. My advice to those that have to eat here: Have the french fries. Those were good. And heavily scrutinize the bill. The hostess asks for your room number before seating you. I wonder how any people just don't look at the bill?

Great Breakfast at the District

By Masonviper |

Had a wonderful and meal served by Enrique. Restaurant has a unique and pleasant atmosphere and the service was superior. I highly recommend it if you are staying at the Sheraton or in the downtown area.

Mediocre at best

By Pbinla |

We went here for dinner last night with some friends, six of us in all. Cocktails at the bar was nice enough, the barman was getting a little flustered even though it wasn't busy, not a good sign but I thought nothing of it. The Moscow Mule was refreshing and tasty so that made up for it. The place itself is pretty big and has that faux industrial thing going on, to be honest the decor feels a bit forced, like those pre-torn jeans people in Beverley Hills spend too much money on, but we were having fun and I was looking forward to the meal. Once we sat down and ordered some wine we asked our waitress to bring us three starters for the table to share, on the menu the starters are listed as 'Sharing Plates' although I easily could have eaten at least one of them by myself. The Korean style 'LA Tacos' were by far the tastiest item, 'Octomari' sounded good but didn't really deliver, the squid was not very fresh and a bit tough, last and possibly least was the 'House Baked Artisan Loaf' which was half a loaf of warm bread with some tapenade and herb butter. Yawn. The mains were a list of the most dreary and uninspired dishes I've seen in a long time. There wasn't one thing that stood out, steaks, ribs, salmon, burger, pasta. I went for the Steak Frites which turned out to be a plate of spring greens, a tiny but fairly tasty flatiron steak that was way past the medium rare I asked for, joined by a basket of frozen french fries that had a little truffle oil spilt on them. The bill came to over six hundred dollars, which seemed a tad steep to me, but to be fair we did have a few bottles of wine so that jacked the price up but even so, for 100 bucks a head I'd like to see a bit more effort. This is the kind of restaurant that someone spent an awful lot of money on and then hired an under-achieving and probably under-paid chef to come up with a menu I'd expect to see in mid-west airport. Disappointing I'm afraid.

Great potential

By Jing M |

Decided to pay this restaurant for happy hour since I was staying at the hotel. The decor is in line with the "hip" bars and restaurants in the area. This place just opened recently and I am nut sure if the word has gotten around but give it time, I am sure that it'll be on a to go to place. Fully stocked bar offering an array of happy hour goodies. A very relaxing place to go to prior to or after a night out in Los Angeles.

Wasted our time

By @i_therefore_conclude |

Service was AWFUL for breakfast on Sunday June 19 (father’s day) around 9:40am. We have been waiting 20-25mins and started to notice guests who arrived later than we did get served their orders and nobody bothered to check on our table. Place isn’t crowded or busy yet when we flagged down our server, her excuse was there was a “system glitch & due to technology issues, maybe the order didn’t print out in the kitchen”. They comped our breakfast and when we finally got our food, it wasn’t nearly close to worth the wait. It was tasteless, lackluster and bland. We really regret booking here. We are not coming back. It was an awful Father’s Day breakfast. Not sure if Sheraton owns this restaurant but this is not a very good Bonvoy experience. It was a waste of our time in LA.

Great staff, good food, lively

By TravelAndShoes |

I particularly enjoyed the chicken quesadilla and Broccolini Bruschetta. Plus cool modern furnishings -- wish I could take home one of their blue croc chairs!

Great food and loved the service!

By jmuckley |

Service at the bar, for dinner, and for breakfast was all extremely friendly and accommodating. Our server after hours in the evening went out of her way to get us the cheese on the cheese board that we wanted. Our server for breakfast (Enrique) went out of his way to accommodate 2 separate requests. Would never know this was a hotel restaurant! LOVE the décor and downstairs indoor/outdoor feel.

Drinks-service

By AdMan33 |

Great experience from beginning to end! The entire place is new and modern, much nicer than expected for a Sheraton. I usually stay at the Westin but will make this my new home away when in LA. Club lounge service was impeccable, really appreciated the extra service touches and downtown suggestion we received from Steve. Next night we visited the bar/restaurant, Steve again guided us through the drink menu and went the extra mile – get the old fashioned. Overall highly recommended!

Great Late Night Dining Spot

By ronco0807 |

Came here late night, after the LA Opera. The ambiance was very nice and the service was excellent. Our waitress could not have been any more pleasant and helpful. The late night menu is varied and interesting. I had two appetizers, a bowl of excellent chili and scrumptious tacos with an wonderful Asian influence. They were the best tacos I have ever eaten. My dining companion had a burger with fries. The burger was big and juicy and the fries delicious. When next in LA I will keep this restaurant in mind for dinner. The restaurant is located on the plaza level of the Sheraton Downtown Hotel.

Interesting place

By Michael R |

There is a fully open air bar in front, or a large dining room in back with stylish and interesting quasi-industrial decor. Menu has wide range of interesting choices. I ordered the roasted beets salad and the steak flatbread. Both were well executed dishes and not excessive portions. My colleague had a half rack of ribs which looked pretty sizable and fries and he said they were both very good. Extensive wine selection and good service. Dinners with drinks, tax, and tips came to $57 each which seems about right for the quality of food and service.

Decent Lunch

By SCCam94 |

Stopped here for lunch on a recent visit to LA. The bar and restaurant were definitely decorated nicely and look cool. The doors were wide open since it was a beautiful day and there was a wonderful breeze that came through the bar area. I did not back and check out the restaurant area nor did I order a specialty cocktail. The service at the bar was OK. It seemed at times the bartender was more interested in prepping for the night than the lunch service. The burger was good. In my opinion it would have been better without the sriracha aiolo. Next time I will skip the aiolo. The burger was $15 and the bottled beer was $8. So the lunch check ran about $33 which wasn't too bad. I would definitely come back at night and try one of their cocktails. Overall the bar was comfortable and fine for a lunch service.

Very enjoyable

By melodyw745 |

Wonderful experience! Virginia was the most perfect waitress. Great atmosphere, very relaxed and never felt like we were rushed to get out.

Breakfast buffet

By Hitcher84 |

Stayed at the hotel and tried the breakfast buffet. I think it's pricey for what you get. Over $20. A la carter is even more expensive if you want coffee and juice though. Unless you really want to eat in the hotel, try your luck elsewhere.

Enjoyable service

By Gabriel G |

First off was the place. I really enjoyed the layout as well as the food. The service was great and my server Jonathan (I think) was superb. Very friendly, nice smile and made my lunch even more enjoyable. Definitely coming back for lunch again.

Good Happy Hour but Average Food

By 1fastcat |

The District is located in the Bloc (Macy's DTLA Center). It has a really nice casual decor and vibe and is a great place for meeting friends for happy hour. The food however is mediocre/average at best and I would not recommend for dinner at these prices.

Great !

By Sergio V |

Had a great visit at the District I was impressed with the food and service Tony at the bar is great very friendly and very talented he gets really creative with the cocktails, Steve is doing a great job there as the Director, the whole staff was great Tracy and Elly took great care of us as well ! Looking forward to my next visit at the District.

Food is alright, service is a bit flat.

By This_r_serious |

Was in town visiting and came here for the Thanksgiving dinner. The food was eight very good or quite questionable. Turkey dinner is a pretty set thing, but the chef took liberties that were not positive. Particularly, my partner and I found the dressing confusing, and there to be a distinct lack of gravy. If they were afraid of overdoing it, the latter can be served on the side. The server clearly was not interested in being there and seemed miffed that we didn't order alcohol. There was a lot more attention given to a large party nearby. Perhaps things are different on regular service days, but if you're going to serve a special meal, make it special.

Fantastic Drinks & Service!

By adamwinning |

While visiting LA for a few days to celebrate a special occasion, we chose the District to meet with family and friends and enjoy a night together. Wow... we could not have asked for a better experience. Constantine at the bar was very knowledgeable and friendly... and made some amazing drinks. (Smoked Old Fashioned is a MUST try) We sat down at a table with Virginia who was by far one of the most passionate individuals I have ever encountered. I am a hotel GM and I would hire Virginia for ANY position in my hotel without skipping a beat. She was incredibly energetic and hospitable and made this special evening one that our family will not forget for a long time. She truly should be commended for the work that she does... it was clear that she takes pride not only in her job, but also her restaurant and her company.

Modern Decor-Good Food

By manodetrapo |

The District decor is modern, warm, and pleasant. It is located next to Macy's and Sheraton hotel in downtown Los Angeles in an area called The Bloc. The bar area is extremely comfortable with comfortable sofas, and a nice atmosphere. The dining room is spacious. My friend enjoyed the Grilled Cage Free Jerk Chicken, balsamic glazed broccoli, whipped potato and pickled apricot. The chicken was tasty but a bit dry (which did not ruin the flavors). I had the Lobster Ravioli and had to return it because the food was warm (not hot enough for my taste), but they immediately corrected it and the flavors were excellent. The server (Genova) was attentive and very gracious when she offered us dessert on the house because my food had not arrived as hot as I like. The wine, Pinot Noir from De Loach was excellent. They also serve food at the bar from a shorter menu (e.g., beef tacos, chicken quesadillas, burgers, salads, etc). Overall, we enjoyed our visit to the District and will come back soon.

Must Try...

I work in Downtown LA and am always on a mission to find the perfect Happy Hour/Dinner Restaurant with great service, convenience of location and amazing drinks/food. I will tell you, the place to go is The District. Beginning with the great location, its centrally located inside the Sheraton Hotel and in the heart of the Bloc with Macys shopping plaza right there! The Bartender Tony personalized my drink according to my personal taste and the food was amazing! Also, the service was the best I have experienced in downtown LA, everyone was genuinely happy to work there, smiling, and attentive to all of our needs….I wanted to give a special kudos to our waitress Christina. She did a great job at checking in on us and making sure everything was perfect and Virginia, she also was all smiles, warm and assisted us with any questions about the menu as well. Overall, everyone went above and beyond and elevated my happy hour/dinner expectations to a whole new level. I will be back!

Well worth it!

A friend and I stayed at the Sheraton Grande for a girls weekend away. It was her birthday. We ate dinner at the District and the food and service couldn't be better. The waiter was very attentive and gave us great advice as to what to order. I had the brisket which was so tender it cut with a fork. My friend had the salmon which she thoroughly enjoyed. The sweet potato fries were terrific. Then the waiter brought us an incredible flourless chocolate cake, free of charge, for my friend's birthday. It was decadent and so good. We also had breakfast there the following morning. The food was again great and the waitress was incredible. She refilled coffee often and even asked if we wanted a cup to go when we left. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great loungy bar in open air

By WaialuaGoldens |

We sat in the bar area which is open to the courtyard. It wasn't crowded and had comfy chairs and good size tables so we could order food from the full menu. We only tried a couple things...the LA tacos and quesadilla are good. The gnocchi looked good (I didn't try it) but was small. The tuna tartare was also a small portion. The Moscow mule is one of their specialty drinks and it was good but kind of weak. They are open until midnight which is why we chose it since most of the other restaurants in the area close at 10.

Fantastic Experience, Love this place

Tony And Constantin are some amazing bartenders. They know their mixology as well as their history on just about everything. Inviting atmosphere, not too pretentious. Priced very fairly as well!

Friendly staff and mind blowing specialty drinks!

By Birdienumnums1 |

We spent a week at the Sheraton Grand hotel, which is above the District. Needless to say, we had plenty of opportunities to visit the District and the delicious food, friendly staff, and great ambiance got us coming back regularly! What prompted me to write this review was our bartender, Constantine. He made our visits to the District special with his friendly manner and his fantastic drinks! If you have a chance to try one of the District's specialty drinks, then you really ought to take it! These drinks are unique recipes created by the Districts own bartending staff. They call them "strong medicine" and there are five different drinks with names like "Opium", Morphine", Penicillin" and "Nicotine". Each drink comes served in a special glass, and is prepared in a little "medicine bottle". We enjoyed the drinks tremendously, but part of the fun was getting a kick out of how they were prepared and served! One of the coolest drinks that our bartender prepared was a "smoked old-fashioned" which was literally smoked under glass before being served to the customer! It was really awesome to see! If you're looking for a nice place to relax with a couple of friends or even just a place to hang out for a bit, this is a comfortable, friendly bar with amazing food and great staff! You won't regret it! ...and do yourself a favor: ask for one of the "strong medicine" drinks... but be warned: they are indeed strong!

It was okay

By Chelly M |

It took them a while to bring us our drinks and food and there wasn’t really much of clients there. There’s probably just like four groups including us, no more than six people per group. The restaurant itself looks very rustic and beautiful. The food was actually really good, better than I expected it to be. The beer isn’t that great I tried the pizza port IPA and it was extremely disgusting. But overall wonderful experience and great food

Wonderful Find

By John G |

What a surprise. We’re always trying to find new places in DTLA. We had read the reviews but avoided the place because of its less than inviting location. What a mistake. Food was wonderful, design was fun, and service was good if a bit spotty. Overall, a place we recommend and will return to.

Amazing service

I haven't even left the restaurant yet I am that excited to share this review. Virginia was an absolute joy serving our table. Paired with delicious food, this was a truly remarkable experience.

Great Happy Hour!

By mns70 |

We were staying at the hotel, arriving on a Friday afternoon. We were hungry after our flight from Sacramento and since it was 2:30, we decided to check our the bar for Happy Hour. Great service with delicious bar menu. Our group of four sampled just about everything...... steak street tacos were our favorite. Relaxing atmosphere and we really enjoyed spending time there. Also had breakfast in The District Restaurant on Sunday morning. Our group of 8 was served promptly.....food was hot and everyone liked their choices. I loved the French Toast!

Relaxing Was Never So Easy

By Catlynn217 |

This restaurant is inside the Sheraton Grand hotel. We never actually sat in the restaurant because their lounge/bar is so lovely. They have a wonderful wine list, delicious appetizers and the dinner menu can be served to you right in the lounge, so we just stayed put and enjoyed the attentive and friendly service while watching the foot traffic and unwinding at the end of the day. We hope to plan another stay when we can be there for fun and more thoroughly enjoy the hotel, this restaurant and nearby attractions.

Okay

By Zhens |

I was looking forward to this as a stay at the hotel often. It was just OK. The interiors are quite nice and the bar seems to be open indoor and outdoor so that gives it a good sense of atmosphere. The food is just average I wouldn’t go out of my way to book it again

It was fine

By 2BEis2SKI |

Like the title, it was fine. We sat open air where a few tables open up to the mall area. It's in the basement of the Sheraton DTLA. They were not busy, Wednesday night. Sat and were served pretty quickly. I had salmon and fries. Salmon was seasoned well. Service was fine, again, the theme seems to be fine. Nothing to dislike but nothing to really prompt me to go back.

Nice Space, OK Food

By Eric G |

Located on the lower level of The Bloc, the lunch menu looked good and the friendly server was effusive in his praise of the quality of the food before we ordered. The service was good, but the food was just average. There wasn't anything wrong, but there wasn't anything great either. This might be a good venue for drinks after work, but for lunch, it wasn't anything special.

Great ambiance, decent food

By KhimLee |

Had dinner here after a meeting at The Bloc - this was recommended among all the other choices within the complex. It is a nice little setting - the bar area looks inviting, the dining area dimly lit with cool lighting fixtures and furniture. We were early and the place was only beginning to get crowded. Ordered the fried chicken sandwich (it was fine, sounded a lot better on the menu than it tasted) and the BBQ ribs (was fine, nothing earth shattering). The sweet fries were too salty, and the regular fries was perfect. Would consider coming back just for the location/ambiance. Service was good.

Very good; service iffy

By stella8443 |

Had a great first experience in this restaurant sticking with appetizers. The gnocchi was so good as were the cheese plates. Dinner the second night was marred by overstretched staff. Once meals received I can say the burger was very good.

Wonderful food for all ages

By slizzie |

We had a family gathering here. There are family members with food allergies and gluten-free and vegetarian diets. There is plenty to choose from on this menu. The kids' menu items have large portions, even for preteens. Unfortunately, our waiter seemed disinterested in our party, even though the restaurant had hardly anyone in it. We had eaten here before with excellent service.

Great for happy hours

By Spencertraveller |

really nicely priced food for happy hours and nice staff as well. The cocktail list is extensive - I wished I could have had the perfect Cosmo but theirs was a little off.

Delightful

By Terry T |

This is such an amazing restaurant. The Chef "Palo" really cares not only about her food, but the customers requests and satisfaction. The Salmon was cooked to perfection and the garlic/butter sauce was amazing. Also, the prices are very reasonable. Not to mention the wonderful waitress Virginia. She took great care of us and was so cool. Would visit there again for sure.

Nice Bar selection

By brianp8912 |

Located right in the lower level of the Sheraton Grand, Not huge but quaint. Very Knowledgeable Bartenders. Great selection of Burbons.

Not impressed

By TravlnDad |

Choose this restaurant due to its closeness to our hotel - not a good criteria.. the restaurant was not busy but the service was slow . We tried the bread loaf .. it was not "freshly" baked but overly toasted / and crisp .. it was not the whole loaf as described but a half. Main course was a "Hanger Steak" - pretty sure it was not supposed to be served cool... The Arugula salad was heavy on salt Prices were high, service bad and food so so - skip this place..

The Bar Tenders

By guadana01 |

This bar in the restaurant area of the Sheraton Hotel is better known for two of his bar tenders: Tony and Constantine. Tony is a well of knowledge about places to go in downtown, the best sushi, breakfast, hangouts etc, but all that pales to his ability to mix a drink, he's inventive and creative and can tell you the history behind the name of what you're having.

Decent Breakfast

By MerelyATourist |

I ate breakfast here on two days of a business trip while staying in the Sheraton Grand. On each visit I had the buffet. At $25 it was not a bad value as these things go given its location in a Sheraton. The selection was good and included everything I would expect of a breakfast buffet except that it did not include an omelet station. The eggs were scrambled, of course, but if you ask your server you can get them prepared any way you like. The service was prompt and courteous and I was in and out quickly, which is one of the advantages of a breakfast buffet; no waiting for food to be prepared.

Good cocktails, but not the best

By rrwraithblue |

The atmosphere is as it should be in a bar, in a good way) in general I liked everything, the cocktails are delicious, even very tasty, but I tried tastier in Warsaw

Love this place!

By Kris Y |

The District is one of those up and coming bars you get the sense that will be packed someday, but is still one of those great hidden gems of the city. From an incredible craft cocktail list to the happy hour menu, they had everything to have a great evening catching up with family downtown. Oh and if you get a chance- ask Tony to make you a drink, I'm not sure I've ever met someone who takes cocktails so seriously, and at the same time makes them so much fun!

WOW! Do yourself a favor and go here.

By Snafooo |

After reading all the very unfavorable reviews, all I can think is "What were those people smoking?!?". We're in town for the WonderCon convention, which is sold out. It's busy here, folks. We went to The District inside the Sheraton Downtown L.A., which is where we're staying. First off, we were greeted warmly, asked what our preference was (bar or restaurant) and seated. We'd just been seated and BOOM! iced water was on the table. That was fast. A bit of discussion about the menu, drink orders were taken and we were left to ponder the menu. Not too much later, the drinks came, the orders were taken and off the waitperson went. Not too much later, another person came by to make sure we were taken care of. 5 minutes later, our appetizers were on the table. Oh, wow. Fig and Prosciutto flat bread with burrata. My oh my. It was wonderful. Green Salad was run of the mill, but probably was outshone by the flatbread. We'd just gotten done with the flatbread and salad and here was the dinner: Jerk Chicken for the jerk across from me and a steak frites (flatiron) for me. My companion was raving about how good it was and the pickled apricots that accompanied it. I have to admit, it was VERY GOOD. My steak was cooked to perfection and the fries were, too. Everything was perfect. The service was above perfection. I hate L.A. (Ok, I'm an Orange County snob) otherwise I'd come here more often, but, if there's another time I'm in (shudder) Los Angeles, I'll be at The District for dinner! Oh, and another thing... I have to give them extra kudos for their decor. It's very chic and inventive. I love this place!

Great experience

By Simone127 |

The new Green Goddess sandwich is delicious. The standout here is the service- Virginia was awesome. Happy hour has great offerings too

Terrible service

By JaxSin |

My friend and I went to District to grab dinner after a long day of sightseeing. The restaurant is in the basement of the Sheraton Hotel. The valet workers stopped us to ask if we had key cards. We said we didn't, but he let us go down anyway. Once there, we ordered burgers and the waitor immediately demanded payment. I said: We haven't received our food, and what if we want something else? He said: you have to pay as you go. I told him to keep his burgers. I should have taken the receipt so I could have shared his name. It was insulting.

Good food!

By Libya H |

My boyfriend and I came to see about this new restaurant that had opened only a week ago and was delighted to find the food was wonderful! Perfectly seasoned and the meal came right away! I ordered the brisket and a Bloody Mary (which was not on the menu but should be) it was the most flavorful Bloody Mary I've had in a while! I ordered another just to see if they were consistent of course- it was even better!!! I'll be back!

Tuesday evening meal

By Vanno84 |

Had a lovely meal at District last night. The food and service was spot on however the restaurant was very quiet so did lack an atmosphere. Prices were also reasonable for the quality of the food.

PERFECT Old Fashioned cocktail by Tony G

By Sherra J |

I first came in back in April. I was meeting some local friends for drinks (we came at their suggestion). When I went again for a quick trip in August, the perfect Old Fashion made by Tony was a must have. I was alone and there for work this time, but the bartender was as friendly as the first time with my friends. He even remembered my drink order from the first and only time I'd been there. THAT is service. The newly finished construction was beautiful too. I will always return to wherever Tony is behind the bar.

Super friendly staff and good food

By k7007 |

We've been to The District for both dinner and breakfast. The first thing we recognized is that the staff is super friendly and helping you out where ever it is needed! They even laid out a plan on what to do and must visits during our LA stay - simply amazing! The breakfast was superb with a wide selection of fruit to start your day just right! The dinner was nice too however I personally would have expected a bit more for the price. The meat was well seasoned however it didn't blow me away. All in all it is a good restaurant which definitely shines with the staff! Keep that good work up!

Newly renovated and a good menu

By Petros14 |

We ate at the District the 3 nights we were staying. 3 of the nights the food was great, but one of the nights the service from the kitchen was slow, many tables didn't get fed and we were lucky to be fed but it was a long time. One of the sports teams had a home game and he bar and restaurant was not handling the volume.

Interesting and sometimes tasty

By Brian C |

I ate here Dec 28, 2016, for dinner while on a business trip. I ordered the beet salad (amazing!) and the salmon (disappointing). The beets were beautifully prepared, really fresh, and the flavorings terrific. The salmon was the exact opposite: dry, overcooked, lacking any sauce. The salsa accompanying added nothing to the dish and the most flavorful thing on the plate was the chickpeas with fennel. I am grateful the chef included the latter or I would have sent it back entirely. As it was, I ate just half the fish and most of the (very large) bowl of chickpeas. The wines were priced on the high end ($18 for a lifeless Cab, $13 for a decent rose). The decor was interesting and amusing with charging stations at the booth. The hostesses were polite and friendly, the server was good. The entire meal cost me $66 for the salad, entree and a glass of wine. For that price, I would have liked things to have been more consistent and of higher quality. It was fine for me, a solo business traveler, but I would have been upset if I wanted to go for a special occasion.

Cool vibe, good food, and a great memory

By Lindsey G |

This place is pretty cool. I brought my almost 2 year old daughter with me to eat dinner and we made an unforgettable memory. We started off by playing in the big grassy area right outside and then came in for a burger and pasta. They sat us at a small, low round table (perfect for her) with two huge chairs. It was so much fun - like a formal dinner with my mini me but in a hip location right in the middle of downtown. I wouldn't necessarily claim this is a go-to place for toddlers, but we had fun and were treated so special. The servers took very good care of us, and we had the whole area around us smiling. I ordered a cocktail and the drink was so perfectly balanced that I can't wait to go back with my (ahem) older friends. Ask for Tony behind the bar - seriously the best drink I've ever had. The food was good, but the ambiance and the friendly attitudes (and that DRINK) are what makes me looking forward to going again. Check it out - it was an unexpected surprise!

Good choice!

By KahunaTim |

A casual dining experience. A small menu, but something on it for everyone and the food is always good. Great staff; always pleasant service. Prompt too. This is my standby for business lunch or breakfast meetings. Never disappointed.

Horrible Service!

By Jonathan H |

Don’t waste your time! Horrible service & staff that seem to get joy out of treating the customers bad. After sitting here for twenty minutes without service and witnessing them serving every table but ours, we decided to not spend our money here since there was obviously an issue that we weren’t aware of. I should’ve taken a look at the reviews before visiting because apparently based on the reviews this is how this place is ran. After we literally had to ask them for menus they sent some LOW IQ chick over with a ridiculous excuse to why they couldn’t seem to do their job. The sad part is before coming in I was telling my buddy about how the vibe here was decent and the previous time I had a good experience. I guess I spoke too soon and needless to say I will never visit this location again.

Great space, atmosphere and food

By SouthernBelles98 |

The District is part of the Sheraton Grand hotel but it stands on its own as a restaurant option in downtown. It opens to the plaza and a potion is open air which is cool. The lounge area is lively with a variety of seating options and there is also a more traditional dining area. The prices are comparable to other local restaurants with happy hour drink and app specials. I had jerk chicken entree which was delicious and very flavorful. Staff very friendly. Great place to grab a drink and or dinner!

Moscow mule!

By rshaneel |

Been in the mood for a Moscow mule and I have heard that this is the best place to go. Service was great and the mule was strong, fresh and kicking. Nice restaurant with a very modern vibe.
