Stopped by on a Saturday evening - after about a 20 minute wait outside on the street (no reservations) were seated at a very tight (small for 5) table in this very noise but popular restaurant Service was excellent - staff helped one another. Food was well prepared but arrived from the kitchen in a very random manner - one in our party had to wait a good 10 minutes after everyone else was served. Mussels were great, salads large enough for three - certainly the portions were generous for the price. This is a BYOB place with very, very limited street parking - suggest taking a cab. There is some limited sidewalk seating (almost in the side street) which seemed to me to be better from a space and noise perspective. If the food weren't so wonderful we would not contemplate returning.

We loved this place. The large appetizer plate, branzino with roasted potatoes special, and chicken kebabs were all fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced for such well-prepared dishes, coming in at at around/under $20 each. This amply served the three of us. The chocolate pot dessert was great also. Staff is friendly and helpful. The simple stripped brick wall décor was inviting. The bring your own liquor policy is very common in Philadelphia.

This is the best spot for fish in the city. Prices are totally reasonable and the fish is fresh and delicious. The only flaw is the size of the place which can get really noisy at night, but in spite of this it’s a must to try!

I guess in Philly this restaurant is considered good for Greek cuisine, but not if you've been there. The place is smallish, cozy and heap. Very noisy and happy. Good service, terrible parking. You should come in early. The baba was decent, the tzatziky was goodm the hummus was mediocre and the pita a bit burnt. The shrimp pilpil and grilled octopus were OK at best. In Philly, it is decent food. In Greece this would probably get classified as a low-level restaurant. So, recommended to whoever wants to sample Greek food and haven't been there...

Two of us went here for our Anniversary Dinner - Its a BYOB but thats OK beacause the food is fabulously delish. The restaurnat is very simple in design with a few tables & chairs outside too. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we could not fault the food, its al la carte so order salad/veggies to go with your entre. If you closed your eyes to the road outside, smelled the wonderful aromas wafting from the kithen while listening to the soft music you could almost imagine you were in a seafront taverna overlooking the sea. A definite must but get in early, we arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday and by 7:15 it was full with people waiting for tables. The customers were couples of various ages to families with yourng children too. - I definately recommend this one

This is the cutest little mediterranean restaurant. You have to go early because it can be a long wait and they do not take reservations. The food is fabulous. I love the mediterranean plate because it has a taste of every appetizer. I also love the shrimp special that was spicy, cheesey, and cooked perfectly. The fresh grilled pita is the perfect addition to every plate. It is BYOB so bring a great bottle of wine, relax, and enjoy the food!

Whenever I don't feel like cooking or eating much, my husband ensures we either walk the full block to Dmitri's or he gets take out. It's a time-tested, solid, good meal every time. There's no frills and service is good so you can't go wrong. Best options are: the mediterranean plate if you brought friends. If it's just you, go with the avocado citrus salad. Make sure you get fresh-from-the-oven charred pita to dip. A meal in itself! My husband almost always gets the scallops. I am a die hard octopus and/or squid fan. My mom has had the fried smelts as you can't get them in too many places. We've had the whole fish before but it's too much food. And, if you're looking for a veggie in all of this tastiness, go wtih the snap peas. I find the sauteed greens to be bland and boring (ditto for the green beans). This is a BYOB so bring along your favorite bubbly and toast to good friends, good food, and a good location (for us anyway).

What a surprise...service was excellent (they were patient while we went to buy beer down the block (BYO) then served the most wonderful spinach pie, scallops, potatoes to die for and super greens...the whipped cream was freshly made!! on a delicious chocolate mouse.....just go. Not too expensive and oh, so good.

Consistent, delicious BYOB that is reasonably priced. We often go and when we do, we share the Mediterranean sampler, the shrimp pil pil, the plum pasta, the octopus, and a few other classics that have remained on the menu since we started going. I rarely get dessert from restaurants, but the little pot de creme is so good, we get it almost every time. Great for people who like seafood or Greek food.

* Small space drab and dreary * Tables crammed too close together * Noise level excessively high - impossible to have a relaxed conversation, have to compete with too-loud talking at too-close tables, flatware and plates rattling on the stone tabletops * Cheesy, cheap paper napkins at a not-cheap restaurant * Worn, scuffed, cheap diner-type flatware * Bread that came with the hummus was stale, tasteless * Rice and vegetable that accompanied all four entrees - rice tasteless and lukewarm, greens mushy, overcooked, oily and unrecognizable * Entrees rushed out before we had finished our apps * For our wine, we were given old, small, worn-out flute-shaped glasses - totally inappropriate All in all, an entirely disappointing meal at any cost, but especially so for close to $160 including gratuity for four apps, four entrees, two desserts *

We went to Dimitri's on 2nd Street...small, low key and BYOB. We started out with tzatziki, sizzle cheese and humus. All were delicious. I could put the tzatziki on my cereal...it's that good. We ordered the lamb, meatballs, shrimp and tilapia. All were delicious and fresh....especially the tilapia and lamb. They were seasoned perfectly. The server was pleasant and helpful, setting out plates for us so we could share our meals. No reservations are accepted so it's hit or miss as far as seating. We went early evening on a Sunday and had no problem getting a table. Looking forward to another visit soon!

Dmitri’s is a small place that doesn’t take reservations. Apparently they do a call ahead seating sort of thing though, because when we went in, we were able to have them call us when our table was ready 45 mins or so later. Great food. Every single item was delicious. Better yet, it’s BYOB. Servers didn’t come back to check on us though.

We had heard lots about this restaurant while we were visiting our son and decided to go there on Valentine's Day. No reservations, BYO, cash only, but we were able to walk into a table. Atmosphere was fine, not as loud as others have complained, but the food was very average. Some might say the chef was expressing subtle flavors and letting the seafood speak for itself, but my wife and I (both self-confessed "foodies"), found everything very bland. I had the grilled fish of the day and she had the seafood pasta, and neither was memorable. The most flavor we found was in the veggies that accompanied my fish. Would I go back? Only if someone else was paying.

Have been going to Dmitri's (22nd and Pine mainly) for last 10 years. The way they do the octopus is hands down one of the best ways ever. The only better I had might be somewhere in Croatia back in the day, or Lubin restaurant (octopus salad, I got double portion as a main) in Vienna which was out of this world.

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at Dmitri’s in Northern Liberties yesterday on June 23, 2018 for two reasons: 1. I arrived at Dmitri’s at 9:50pm (restaurant closes at 11) and I was refused service because “the restaurant was closing early due to light demand.” 2. After I expressed that I was going to address this issue with management and I left the premises, I was approached by 5+ gentlemen in a hostile manner.

This is by far one of the best Greek restaurants i've encountered in terms of food here in Philly. I was really impressed with the portion, flavor, and presentation of their items. The place is also BYOB so keep that in mind, I wish I had known so I could've gotten a bottle of wine. The service is not impressive or personable at least in my experience. They do start you off with Pita bread and olive oil which is a nice touch. Now on to the food, the portions are worth the price you pay. I came with a friend who was visiting from out of town and he commented on the portions being nice. We both ordered Greek salads to star off, the flavor was wonderful. It was the prefect balance of all of the ingredients mixed together. For the entree we decided to split the lamb, which was juiciy and flavorful. Lastly we ordered Greek coffee to end the meal, that coffee is very bold, strong, and sweet all at once. I definitely plan on going back to try more of their menu items that colleagues have recommended.

I've always known about this place and many friends love it, but tonight was my first visit. I absolutely loved it. We had to wait a bit for our table so the waitress suggested a nearby bar and we left our wine there to chill. She called when our table was ready and it was all set with our wine. We shared the Mediterranean plate, pasta and escarole, grilled squid, pipi shrimp, spinach pie and grilled scallops . We also shared a few rice puddings and flan for dessert…yum. The portions were HUGE and everything delicious and fresh. Our bill for 5 was only $105 before the tip. Simple and cozy decor. Service was very good and the wait staff attentive.

My wife and I took my parents out for a special occasion and I was excited to bring them to the second location of one of my favorite restaurants. We figured that the parking would be more ample in Northern liberties and we would try out the new digs. First the good news, we were seated right away and the food was very good. That is the end of the good news. Now for why I do not recommend going here. The acoustics inside of the restaurant were terrible and it was very hard to hold a conversation without yelling. When placing the order we were informed that vegetables and rice and other accompaniments, which come with a standard platter at the Original location, are all sold separately here. The food then was brought out and was on all different size plates, none of which made sense given the higher cost. If sold separately here why would the portions be smaller? The food was very good, like the original location, but we will not return based on how they’ve decided to set their menu, the smaller portions and the loud interior. To me it’s also a matter of principle that if there are two restaurants by the same name located within 3 miles of one another that. they should have the same menu or it should be indicated that it is a different concept. This left a bad taste in my mouth.

the food here is amazing. if you love greek food and/or seafood and/or a byob this place should be a great spot for you. the bread and pita with dipping oil they serve you is fantastic, but don't fill up before your food arrives. they serve the food as its ready so you might get one at a time, or all at the same time depending on the crowd. i would recommend 3-4 dishes per couple. dishes we love are: hummus, fried calamari, shrimp pil pil!! (spicy and so yummy), lamb (fun to make lil gyros with the pita bread and tzatziki sauce), grilled octopus, and fried smelts. they also serve take out when its not super busy which is nice! if it is super busy and you're wanting to eat there you can give them your phone number and they'll call you when your table is ready. this gives you a good opportunity to hit up a bar nearby for a few before you're called. if you want a cool experience sit at the bar and watch the chefs cook! we love talking to each other, sipping on our wine and/or beer, while watching them run the kitchen, multitask with lots of yummy seafood in pans, grill the delicious pita, and tease each other the whole time. if you told us we could only eat here forever, we'd be delighted!

My favorite white person is still there. The octopus is still delicious, the baba ghanouj and hummus "half-and-half" was very good.

eaten here many times and just the food is fantastic and reasonable BUT the best deal is the VEGETARIAN PLATE with lentils, beets, humus, olives, baba ganoush and more with a basket of pita. What else do you need? Actually enough for two although my wife can't say no to the lamb...don't miss this AND IT IS BYO!!

I so looked forward to coming to this location, Ignored as much as possible the crazy noise that I as well as my friends had to yell at our server who could not hear our order... Loved the food but the service was truly unacceptable ! There was NO ONE who looked responsible enough to get their attention, to acknowledge our needs. At the end, our server was eating dinner and we could not get her or any one's attention ( the place was at that point pretty quiet). our friend had to walk up to her to ask for a refill... Hate giving a small tip ( Which we did not...hope the chef got some acknowledgment) when the people responsible to do the hiring do not take ownership of this so vulnerable business!

Our party of four visited here on a Friday night at around 6pm or so and were immediately seated with a choice of outside or inside table. We chose to eat inside. it's BYOB so we brought our own bottles of wine. We started with the Greek Salad, Grilled vegetables and Mixed Mediterranean platter that we shared among us all and it was plenty. Hot pita bread along with dipping olive oil was on the table. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and very pleasant and efficient. Water glasses were kept full which is always appreciated. My daughter had the Shrimp Pil Pil which was very tasty with a long crock full of shrimp in tomatoes and feta cheese. My wife had the Plum Pasta, a basic pasta marinara, that was also good. I had the grilled salmon which was a perfectly done, large portion of moist fish served with lemon wedges on the side. We finished with the what the waitress called a Greek/Turkish coffee. It was a strong, heavy bodied brew that came sweetened with sugar. Generally not a fan of sweet coffee, but I found this cup enjoyable, like a dessert. The prices were very reasonable and it was overall, a good value and a very nice dining experience.

We had an excellent dinner before a show at the TLA on a Saturday evening. We arrived 10 minutes after Dimitris opened and relieved they still had a seating for 6 in this small south Phila neighborhood restaurant. BYOB champagne for the retirement celebration and then the food. Not to gush, wow, everything was outstanding, BaBa and hummus, then perfectly cooked grilled squid and scallops. My grilled octopus was cooked tender and cut up on the bias with great flavor, whoa. It's a cozy and earthy delight. Go there.

I'll start off by saying that it's absolutely delicious. The legendary Shrimp Pil Pil, the other-worldly grilled octopus, the snap peas bathing in dreamy tomato sauce and perfectly crumbly feta, the spinach pie, the lamb meatballs...I could go on... I mean, it's DE-LICIOUS. But here's the thing: what did I ever do to the staff here (besides spend pay check after pay check on the aforementioned deliciousness)?! Dmitri's is in South Philadelphia, not Paris. And I love South Philadelphia! I live in South Philadelphia! I am South Philadelphia! But, in this foodie town, on this adorable block, if I'm going to choose you over all other fabulous dining choices, if I'm going to go take out cash, chance a seat, bring a bottle of wine, I'd like a smile with that warm pita, please.

When I think to go out to eat, Mediterranean food is never my first pick. However, a friend from Philly took us to Dmitri's and I can't believe how amazing it was. It is not fancy by any means, it is one of those places where the food speaks for itself. This place is very tiny and you have to wait to get in, but you can walk to the bar across the street and have a drink while you wait. We ordered several small plates and everything was good...hummus, mozzarella, etc. However, I have to mention the dish that shocked me. Octopus is not my favorite, but the Grilled Octopus here was incredible! I do not know what they do to it, but you must try it! There is no alcohol here, but you bring your own and they chill it for you and serve it to you once you are seated. This place is not a tourist trap, it appears to be mostly locals and we loved that about it!

A Friday night convo with my wife often goes something like "Q: where do we want to go to dinner tonight? A: I don't know, how about Dmitri's? Q: I was hoping you'd say that!" This neighborhood Greek BYO is more than just convenient for us though. It is so tasty and filling there. Call me a creature of habit (I am), but it's really tough for me to experiment with the menu bc the grilled octopus and shrimp pil pil (sometimes the scampi instead) are just that good. The wife usually also gets some novel shrimp dish (they've always got interesting specials), and sometimes a sizzled cheese app (yum!). And after stuffing myself on the warm pita and amazing tzaziki beforehand, this dessert-lover usually doesn't even have stomach room for more! Definitely check this place out! (Just call to see how long the wait is, bc they don't take reservations).

The octopus is the best that I have ever had and the three piece order of soft shell crabs was so good that I ordered one more crab.It is BYOB and cash only. My daughter ordered octopus to go. Little ambiance. They do not take reservations, however, there is a bar across the street where you can wait and they will call you.

We stopped here after attending the Army/Navy game. Mood in this place was so nice, especially from leaving a football stadium. We were seated quickly and by the window (very romantic) We knew what we wanted off the bat. My dinner of the grilled octopus was soo delish we ordered another for my boyfriend and I to share. We finished off with the Greek coffee. This is a great place for dinner and very romantic spot. Lively atmosphere. I only wish our two waitresses were a little more friendly. I don't think each gal spike but a few sent cra with us the whole time but honestly I was having such a great dinner with my bf I didn't notice a whole lot. I'll most def be returning here for dinner once again.

My family best place to eat! Simple dishes like calamaris, grill octopus, fried oysters, lamb with grill veggies and my most have citrus avocado salad. It is small plates to share but the taste of these dishes are superb!!!. The only think missing is to be near the beach!!!. My family and I are regularly... When we don't know where to go... Dmitri's is our place to go!!! Next time in Philly try it!!

Dimitri's is beloved in philly. Small plate Greek/ Mediterranean food ion casual setting. Maybe the years have taken the lustre away or the growth of other tapas places make it seem less special but it didn't thrill me. The grilled octopus is still the highlight and worth the visit. The feta and olives were just ok, beets too..service was fine.

English author Desmond Bagley wrote in his novel 'Landslide' that if you are new in town, a good place to eat is the local Greek restaurant. I followed his advice when I heard that Dmitri's on 795 South 3rd Street was worth eating at. This is a tiny, wee restaurant and the company uses every scrap of space. There is a long bar where you can sit and watch the evening's action as three chefs cook up a storm in front of you. I opted for a Whitebait style starter, followed by a fish stew. Big tasty portions. Nicely cooked, decent fresh ingredients. My mouth is watering as I write this because the meal was that good. This is a great place to eat if you are lone female travelling on business. You won't be hassled. You won't be lonely. You will have an entertaining evening out, company and food wise. My bill came to US$50 including tip. This was for two courses, plus I ordered Börek (Spinach Pie) to take away for my breakfast. I would certainly eat here again when I am back in town. Fyi, this is a BYO when it comes to alcohol. Not a problem - the pub over the road sells alcohol that you bring into the restaurant.
Nice cozy Resturant
the atmosphere was nice and cozy , sea food is cooked very well and the service was really nice and friendly . it is a BYOB restaurant
