This is a cool place and an easy bar to get a good microbrew. It's a bit too 'hipster-ish', but not terrible. I had one beer that was a bit flat; the others were all sharp and on point. In the past, I have had pizzas at the location which were good.

Another awesome craft brewery in Philadelphia We sampled a flight of IPA, Porter, Pilsner and Rye IPA….. Epic beers Oldest brewery in town and great food to boot…. a couple of locations to visit

Stumbled upon this West Philly spot while looking for a late dinner. They serve food late and pour great beer. Pricing was very reasonable. Atmosphere was a little young, but value made up for it.

I lived at 49th and Hazel a couple years ago and, no doubt, this place was always bustling. Even though the place is a bit pricey, it's totally worth it -- they have such good food and beer. There is a slight edge to the place, but it is an overwhelmingly friendly atmosphere. They host great events for the community all the time. My two favorites: a beer/pizza fundraiser for a local college student scholarship fund and a local microbrews competition.

I was referred here by a local when looking for a Brewpub. Didn't dissapoint. The beers were phenomenal, I love summery beers with hints of citrus and sweet and they had several. I like that they did something different. More breweries should follow suit. The pizza was really good too. Calamari was so so but overall the experience was good. Service was good too.

First time I saw so many children in a brewery restaurant. The brew sampler was the best way to try their beer, and there were at least two out of the six that we would try again. Their pizza was excellent. Their greek salad didn't feel very greek, except for the olives and feta.

Five of us had some super calamari, pizza and beer here tonight. The place was full when we arrived and we were lucky to find a table. The service started off slowly, but a waiter not assigned to our table noticed the delay and jumped in to help -- much appreciated. The pizza was excellent and creative and really tasty, and the beer was every bit as good as you would expect to get .... in a brewery!! We'll be back for sure!

Swung by past 10 pm to this quieter part pf Philly. This place has a very laid back no pretentious atmosphere. The staff was very nice and friendly. The food was great we had some pretty kick but wood fire pizza. And the beer was awesome. Far better than you think your going to get. I will certainly stop back here again when i'm in the area. And for the record parking was easy to come by too.

Went on a Monday night and had a great time sitting outdoors, picking fun beers to drink and eating great pizza. No attitude and great service! Highly recommended!

This place has awesome food, and pretty solid beers. I really enjoy the Mellow Yellow (mustard) pizza and the Sicilian pizzas, and paired with a crisp Rye IPA. My favorite pizza in the city.

This is one of my go-to microbrewery's in the city. Long ago..when I was a student and lived in the area, I would frequent this place regularly. I would come with friends to hang because the environment was cool and the beer was ok. As I matured and my palette did as well, I realized what a "gem" of a place!! I now bring my non-beer drinking friends as well as out-of-towners here to experience that great beer sampling and of course the pizza. Because of the diverse area, vegan choices are on the menu - nice!! I like the industrial look of the place and it's nice to take advantage of the outdoor seating if you get there early enough. Now, being a "beer fan", I would like if there were more of a selection, but the choices that are offered are tasty.

We were a group of 10 and they were able to accomodate. Great service, good pizza and a very large selection of beers.

Prisoner of Hell is a beer that Dock Street makes and its exquisite! For those of you who like white or belgian-style beers- it's a must have! The pizza to compliment cannot be lived without! And the atmosphere wow...ill....it's a place I bring my wife, meet up with friends, bring the in-laws to. Really the perfect place for anyone and everyone! No stuffy waiters but incredible food and drinks await!

This place is awesome. The fig jam and Gorgonzola pizza is one of the greatest things I've ever eaten. They also show movies on Tuesdays, which is pretty terrific.

Our first stop on our 5 day trip to Philly was the Dock Street Brewery. We finally found it after following our phone's long convoluted instructions down miles of narrow neighborhood streets. The old firehouse building was easy to spot once we got near. There being no parking lot, we parked a block away on the street. Dock Street came up in a search for the best breweries in Philly. This one also has a nice food menu. We shared the tasty fried brussel sprouts with chipotle seasonings and I had the Vegan burger which was very good. Topped that off with the 100K DIPA. All quite yummy. This Dock Street was the West one. There is also a South one . The two have different food menus. Their food and beers are definitely worth a stop.

Stopped at Dock Street for lunch and some brews after an afternoon of exploring in Philly. Right away, hubs and I were impressed with the cool vibe of the place--it used to be an old firehouse. We ordered our beer right away (I had a flight of their 6 brews currently on tap) and decided on a pizza (their specialty). Beer was just ok, though they had a pretty solid IPA on tap that day. Service was kind of disorganized that day because they had a tour group and it was slammed. It took us quite a while to get our food, but it was delicious, even if the waitress was in a hurry. Definitely enjoyed this place and we will be back to try more of their fantastic pizzas. We had the sausage and veggie, and ti was OUTSTANDING.

Went to Dock Street with friends to celebrate my husband's birthday! Pleasantly surprised by the interior - really fun atmosphere. The pizza was the best all of us have every tasted. Very artsy feel. Definitely will be returning.

Great beer selection. Fantastic pizza. Everyone at our table ordered their own pizza. Did not take home any leftovers.

Happening place on a Saturday evening. Good pizza. OK salad. Great beer. We were able to park right in front of the front door. We would go back. Our GPS took us through a sketchy part of town, but this place was fine.

Weds is a cash only night. The staff can wave vaguely in the direction of an ATM if you don't have cash. They do give you a 3 per cent discount tho. Pizza & beer were great. One of our party got the vegan burger and it was made of beets and mushrooms instead of soy protein. I wish they explained this on the menu.

Sort of a creepy neighborhood. Blah beer. Very blah pizza. Nothing was bad--zits just that nothing was good. Blah service, food, and atmosphere. Outside the building is cool. Inside sort of creepy and decreed .

The pizza is the best. Very fresh.

We were visiting from out of town and am very glad we stopped in for lunch. Since it was late in the afternoon it was pretty quiet and we had our choice of seating. The staff was very friendly and our food came out pretty quickly. Had the panko crusted fresh mozzarella as an appetizer, the char-grilled sausage calzone with mozzarella, caramelized onions and roasted peppers(yum!) and a juicy beef burger with roasted jalapeños served with hand cut fries. Everything was delicious. Also tried two brews: Bohemian Pilsner and the Baltic Porter. Both were very good. So good in fact that we took home a growler of the port. Definitely stop in if you are in the west Philly area.

Caveat: I am a biased supporter and regular client. Still, I am honestly impressed by the combination of excellent service (one of the best in the city of Philadelphia), great crispy pizzas and unbeatable collection of home made beers. My favorite pizzas are the Florentine and the Parma pizza. The former comes with crème fraiche, so order it at your own risk. My favorite beers are the Dock Street Golden IPA and the Dock Street 100k IPA. I am not a lager person, as you can tell. I could tell several stories about the fantastic service they offer. Once we had an issue with the card we used to open a tab. For unknown reasons, the card charged us a small amount for opening the tab, and the amount was not reimbursed (as expected) when we paid the bill. We were kindly asked about this issue the next time we visited the restaurant and we had pizza for free, without asking for it, and even when it was clear to us that it was not their fault. Minuses: basic wine choice, vegan options could improved. They are just our favorite pizza place in West Philly. Treat them well!!

Our waitress told us that this place had the “best pizza in Philly” award last year. Well, a lot has changed in a year then. Our pizza was the special of the night, Reuben Pizza. Sounded interesting so we got it. First one was recycled by the chef as he thought it was not up to his high standards. OK, I’d rather they get it right than fast. Not a problem. Problem is, what came out of the kitchen was very tasty but barely warm and burned all the way around the rim. Not impressed. The beers were pretty good but not outstanding. We had a couple of different IPAs and they were not as hoppy as I would have liked but that’s just me. Very nice taste. The place could have been a little less stingy with the heat. We had to keep our coats on the whole time and they absolutely need to improve the lighting in the place. Had to use our phones to read the menu. Not a bad neighborhood place but not worth going out of your way for.

I heard Dock Street Brewery was good but, as I’m not a beer drinker, I wasn’t’ so sure I’d like this microbrewery. We decided to go for lunch – great choice! The three of us decided to split two starters that sounded good, the Trio Fries (sweet potatoes, white potatoes and scallion fries) and the Buffalo Cauliflower Bites. Both were very good – we couldn’t decide which we liked better! We then decided to order three small pizzas and share, since none of us could pick just one we wanted to try. We went with the Flammenkuche Pizza (crème fraiche, gruyere, caramelized onion, apple-wood smoked bacon, fresh herbs), BBQ Chicken Pizza (Marinated chicken, mozzarella, red onion, house-made barbecue sauce and cilantro) and the Mellow Yellow Pizza (Brown mustard, crème fraiche, portobello, white mushroom, mozzarella, gruyere topped with scallions). All were less than $10.00. WOW. The crust was GREAT and not soggy, the sauce flavorful and the topics a perfect blend of flavors. In summary, the Dock Street Brewery is a great choice, even if you don’t drink beer. I’m looking forward to going back!

We went to try the beer. It was the best flight of beers we have ever had. Not a bad one in the bunch. There is food for everyone - gluten free, vegan Vegan pizza and burgers. The Trio Fries were really good. Laid back atmosphere with good service. Pizza is great. Good choice of sodas for the kids and is kid friendly. Public transportation available. Definitely will be back.

I came here on my first night in Philadelphia because I was craving some pizza! This place was packed, and for good reason. The service here is awesome. I went for a simple pizza and loved it all. This place is REALLY affordable so great if you're looking for something on a budget. They have lots of beer, too. Oh, and if you're English, they serve PG tips. Pizza and tea = all around winner!

My family threw me a surprise party at Dock Street this past weekend. I hadn’t been in years. The beer is very good with a nice variety of styles. Our food was also good; I’m never sure at breweries, but the pizzas and sides/apps were all delicious. The staff were very accommodating for our large group on a Saturday night. Looking forward to heading back!

The pizza was delicious and the home brewed beer was great. I would recommend trying the Pumpkin beer. The large pizzas are really big so make sure you either share one or get a take out box! It's a cool place to eat and it also has outdoor seating, the main crowd were young student types. Definitely a good place to go.

Went here on a whim in the afternoon. Enjoyed our brews and sandwiches. Laid back atmosphere in a funky part of town. Don't miss Little Baby Ice Cream around the corner.

Great place! Awesome selections of beer and the homemade pizza was outstanding. Servers were friendly .

We tried this one night looking for pizza and were pleasantly surprised. We read the reviews so were expecting it to not be so great but we ordered the Brussel sprouts, fried mozzarella, and a pepperoni pizza. All were excellent. The beer flight was good too and like the fact they have varieties. A little disappointed they don’t have tea for those that want something more than water but worth the visit!!

We try to visit brew pubs/breweries whenever we can. After a day at the zoo this was a no brainer. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside...great people watching! The beer was excellent and the food very good! The kids had excellent brick oven pizza and my husband and I shared a pesto, red pepper, grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries also excellent. We tried every beer on tap. All were great even if not our personal favorites. Don't be frightened off by what you may perceive as a somewhat "sketchy" area. This is a very diverse neighborhood and not unsafe. Located in an old firehouse, Dock Street is clearly a hub for locals.

It's a nice brewpub. They don't have that many draft beers as some other places do, but what they do have is quite good. Their pizza was surprisingly good for a beer joint. Definitely worth a visit.

Dock street brews its own beer and it's very good. We got a pitcher of Sasion beer and one of their specialty pizzas. Both were very good. The pizza had caramelized onions and bacon!

Basically what the title says, great pizza and great beer! They have a side bar that is connected to the building that is great and is a lot quieter then the restaurant. I have had no issues with the Pizza, always great. The staff are very nice and helpful. If you are in Philly for a visit definitely stop by for some good times. Also easy to get to if you do not have a car. The 34 trolley stops right in front!

Stopped here for lunch last Sunday with my husband, 11 yr old and 13 yr old. The beer was good, wish they had more Browns or a stout, but for what they had, it was enjoyable. The food was terrific. We all ended up sharing our food with each other and ate way too much. The breakfast calzone and potatoes were excellent. One destination on our trip was NYC and we couldn't wait to try NY pizza.. The pizza we had in NY was ok, but the pepperoni pizza at Dock Street was the best we had on the whole trip. So glad we found this place and decided to have lunch there.

Went to Philly this past weekend, my friend started us on a citywide bar tour that started at Dock Street. I didn't get any food, but their beers are very diverse and interesting, ranging from an IPA to a Blonde and everything in between. The atmosphere is really cool, I honestly wouldn't call it divey but I could see that a little I guess. Our service was very friendly from the time we walked in the door as well. I can certainly see why people like this place and I would definitely come back to try the food.

This pub is located in a nice part of West Philly in an old Firehouse. The pizza is cooked in wood fired oven and is thin NYC style pizza with great flavor. Beer is fresh and excellent. Staff is friendly and service is great.

We've enjoyed the Dock Street Brewery several times while visiting my daughter in West Philly. The selection of beer is fantastic! A beer drinkers paradise. The pizza, baked in a wood-fired oven, is delicious. It's a fun place to enjoy interesting beer and pizza.

There was a waiting line when we arrived around 6:30. Fortunately, there were two open seats at the counter/bar, which we were able to snag. Tried a flight of all their beers and then had a couple pints after the flight. The service was good considering how busy the place was and the staff seemed to be hustling to keep up with orders. The pizzas are offered in a small, individual size or a larger size. We both ordered their individual specialty pizzas, which are cooked in a wood fire oven. Very tasty although we both felt like we could have eaten more after finishing our pizzas. We definitely enjoyed their beers – especially the IPAs.

I recently visited the Dock Street Brewery with a group of friends. The staff was fantastic, the pizza was some of the best I've ever had, and the beer was top-notch. The pizza was thin-style, which is how I like it. The crust had great texture and flavor, and the toppings were perfect. Not too much, not too little. Simple, but of high quality. I will definitely return as soon as I have the chance. Not to be missed!

It's really nice having a brewery in my neighborhood, but neither the beers nor the service have ever impressed me. It's a reliably fine place to have some pizza and brews, but I find the beer to be a little flat or uninteresting most of the time. Because it's located at 50th & Baltimore, this is a safe haven for the young hipsters of West Philly... be forewarned, or be excited, depending on who you are. They offer growler specials on Sundays and have a variety of events like movie nights and concerts, so check out their website's calendar before you plan your visit.

I've eaten here twice. The beer is great, if you like microbrews and locally crafted options, this is the right place. The food is merely ok. i wouldn't go back for the food. the pizzas are the best option, they're decent. the decor is a little art house industrial for my taste, a little grim and bare for me. They show independent movies on the wall on tuesday nights. for the beer, i'd recommend it. for the food, there's better places in philly. if you aren't the right age group or wearing the right kind of clothing, you're going to feel out of place.

This restaurant was very disorganized with employees running into each other, not paying attention to customer needs & interacting more with each other than the clientele. Their craft beer is mediocre & the food the same. The pizza was very unexciting. The restaurant could use good cleaning. I always judge a kitchen’s cleanliness by the cleanliness of their bathrooms & this one failed miserably. There was a very eclectic crowd & the decor is industrial. Prices average. Very noisy & will not be returning.

The pizza here is outstanding and there's a huge variety. They are cooked in a wood burning oven like you find in Italy. The beer is very good too. It's a loud and happy place.

Had a excellent flight!!!! The burger was perfect. I got it topped with gruyere. Its located in a old firehouse which adds to the great ambiance.

I was hesitant to go to Dock Street as I usually don't like designer pizza, but I am so happy I did. The ingredients listed on the pizza menu sound strange, but the results are magical. We had fig jam, applewood bacon, creme freche, and carmelized onions. I had reservations, but it was excellent. Not exactly what you expect from a neighborhood sports bar. Wonderful pizza and they also serve salads, fish and chips, and burgers. But do yourself a favor and get a pizza! Decent beer list as well. Fun place.

Arrived early on a Fri. evening. There was only two of us & it was just starting to get busy. We asked for a high table near the window & were promptly accommodated. That was almost the highlight of our experience, unfortunately. While the staff was milling around, we sat for 15 min. I asked one young lady if she was our waitress & she responded “I’ll be happy to care of you” & apologized for the wait. She took our drink and food order & apologized again. Up until that point the experience was questionable. The food was just ok & the beer was better. We ordered another round & asked for the check. We told her she was an excellent waitress & she thanked us. Then she told us she was the general manager. Bravo.

I went with a group and we tried several pizzas and beers. Such a cool space (an old firehouse) and loved the pizza, especially the Mellow Yellow, and buffalo chicken pizza. Try the Summer Haze pilsner for a good light beer.

This brewery falls into that category of wanted it to be good, but the beer just wasn’t anything special. Like a lot of craft breweries, Dock Street looks the part. Great wait staff and setup. The pizza looked excellent, but wasn’t there to eat. The flight option was a great value with 6 mainstay samples for $10, but the beer taste was lacking. None rated a 4 or greater for me on a 5 scale, several were below a 3. Easy transport on the street car for $2.50 one way from city center though, with a stop right in front of the brewery. So, for $5 round trip, 90 minutes, and a reasonably priced flight, still worth the visit.

Dock Street has the best pizza I've had in a very long while, plus a great selection of beers. They only serve wine other than beer in the way of drinks, so don't expect any cocktails -- after all, this is a real brew pub. The place was jammed with happy diners, mostly college-age, enjoying the fries, salads, burgers and pizzas in the most basic of décor. Everything we had was delicious and the servers were terrific. Parking can be tricky and you may have to wait for a table, but it's worth it.

I absolutely love this place. My bf and I go once a week because we are in love with the pizza. Service is always good and I love the available outdoor seating.

I've heard many great things about this place and I finally decided to check it out. We got the Fig Jam Pizza and it was absolutely amazing. We got a small which wasn't filling for two people so we ordered some sweet potatoe fries as well. The sweet potato fries were pretty good. They used salt instead of brown sugar to season them which was different. The only downside to this restaurant was the service. Our server was very friendly but she was not very attentive. After the pizza was brought out it took her about twenty minutes to come back and see if we wanted refills on our drinks or anything else. I definitely recommend checking this place out, it's street parking only but we were able to find a spot close by.

Got take out from here tonight- pesto wrap was ok, really cool that it’s in a pizza crust. Too much spinach and oil though. Really disappointed that my almost $5 order of cannoli was really just a single mini canolli... and was sour?? Seemed like there was lemon, but also chocolate chips in it? Won’t get takeout from here again.

This place has the chic look of a run-down dive that is in desperate need of TLC but will never get a facelift. All this has its own kind of glamor, believe it or not, and adds up to a busy hive of young people ordering freshly made beer with their pizzas. The appetizer of fried calamari was fresh and hot, with a spicy batter that made the sauce unnecessary. We ordered two very good beers, but would have been better off with the sampler of six small beers, which seemed to have everything on the menu in it. The large pizza is really enough for two, especially with the generous toppings. The Greek pizza was a workable mix of ingredients you would never think of combining together. The small pizzas are enough for one. I would go back here again in a minute.

The pizza and beer at this place were absolutely amazing! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and will definitely go again!

Very friendly efficient service, great energy and fun atmosphere. The specialty pizzas are amazing. Great home brewed beers. Looking forward to getting back there.

Friendly staff, good pizza and beers, whats not to like. Came form out of town andwas treated very well.

We were going to a musical performance nearby and we went to this restaurant. It was great! Good food, good service, nice menu selection, outdoor seating weather permitting.

I had a vegetarian pizza that was coated with garlic butter..... I think Pizza Hut would have done a better job. I didn't eat it and still got charged for it.

My wife and I have been coming here for at least 4 years! We live in the Poconos, but always stop in when we are in the area. Their brick oven pizza is the standard by which we measure other pizzas. We will taste one and say, "Not bad. But it's no Dock Steet!" If you are around University City in West Philly, and you are hungry/thirsty, stop in at 701 S. 50th Street...AKA Dock Street! Google the website for hours and brews on tap. PS...If you don't like beer, they have great local wines as well!

delicious beers and tasty pizzas! Everything to love! Take a trolley 34 from center city! I love their vegetarian pizza with artichoke.

All the staff is super awesome at Dock Street. Their pizza smelled amazing, even though we didn’t try that. Beer list was good and this place had great seating indoors and out. We’d definitely return!

Don't go here if you're hungry. Or if you MUST go here, don't order a large pizza. Since I visited a year ago, the menu has lost its wraps, its chicken dishes, even its calzones. Pizza, a burger, fish 'n' chips, salads. Much less choice. But when forcing its clientele to order pizza... it hasn't added a pizza oven. Only room in the single pizza oven for one large pizza at a time, our waitress apologised to us, after we'd noted that neighbours at our table had ordered small pizzas well after us and been served well before us. So maybe this makes the bored and hungry into the bored and thirsty, maybe it pushes the drinks order stratospheric. Could be. But that's for the benefit of the proprietors, and it means that the visitors have a bad time. The food's OK -- but the environment? No. Oh yes -- SO NOISY. Lean across the table and shout at one another. Not fun.

Traveled to Philly for work and ventured out to find some local beer. This place had good reviews so a group of us have it a shot. The pizza looked fantastic but being vegan I was surprised they had a couple options. Vegan burger was ok and the beer was a nice addition. Try the hummus plate also!!!

Dock Street had a fair selection of beers, but nothing to write home about. By far, the best part is their pizza oven. Funghi pizza was delicious.

DSB has a great selection of beer to go with their superb collection of thin crust pizza. We had the Florentine Veggie pie and I tried both their porter and stout, which were excellent. The service was good and friendly as well!

Great beer, although they were out of the IPA when we were there. We had burgers and fries, they were very large tasted great. Staff was very friendly. We were there on a Thursday night half the tables were occupied and it got busier as the night went on. Its in what looks like an old building, not the cleanest but I am sure that is the atmosphere they wanted. We were there in March and I found it to be very cold in the building, I kept my coat on when I wasn't eating. Over-all a nice experience we might go again on our way to Philadelphia

Great spot in West Philly that offered tasty bites (try the pizza!), an informative tour with tastings of some pretty tasty craft beers. Was interesting to know the story behind the brand. Looking forward to seeing them expand to Washington Avenue. Well done.

Went there for a friend's surprise 30th birthday...good food, okay pricing, great service...went on a small tour of brewery
Good food and Brew
We were in Philly to visit our son and thought we would try a local Brewery. it is not much to look at on the in side but the food was very good. We all got sandwiches and fries, wish we would have tried one of there pizzas. Good selection of beer that they brew on tap, and may I say very tasty . Will go back again some day and try the pizza.
