Nice choice in City Walk

By Salf |

Good choice if you want Asian food while at Universal Studios. A little bit pricey, but good choices. Service was a bit spotty, but overall good.

Great Food

By vintagechina |

I was hungry when I left Universal Studios and did not want the fried food. I had chicken with noodles. It consisted of minced meat and a bowl full of noodles. Not really a dish I would normally choose but the menu was not explicit in English. The noodles were delicious, firm and with the broth it was a winner. The meat did not have much flavor but the whole dish was delicious. It was nice to find a place that did not sell the same old fried food.

Easily the worst service and food at Universal

By Anders M |

Our waiter seemed uninterested in helping us with food, drinks, the bill, water, you name it. He had no clue whatsoever about allergenes in the dishes, and didn't take one step towards finding out. We got our dinner dishes at different intervals, so neither of us got to eat at the same time. And the food was mostly deep fried garlic. The worst dinner experience of our two week trip.

Excellent food, terrific ambience, stellar service

By pomeranianlovah |

You'll find a dish for every picky eater in your party. There are the well-known Chinese dishes such as yeong chow fried rice, but for the more adventurous, they have a duck dish, and for the vegetarian, they have a smorgasbord of choices to satisfy the palate. True, it's a little pricey, but the quality of the food is terrific. I wouldn't mind coming here again the next time I go to Universal Studios. My son loved the food here, and he's difficult to please!

Great food and great service

By jimmyhendriks |

We were staying nearby and dropped in with a group of 13. City walk was buzzing with thousands milling around but they squeezed us in and organised one big table. Standout dishes were the Szechuan green beans and Kung Pao chicken. Joe our waiter was outstanding. Definitely glad we chose this spot.

Really not impressed

By Pinkle123 |

Visited with my family consisting of 5 adults and 2 children under 5 after a long day at universal studios. White wine I asked for wasn’t in stock was offered a Chardonnay and when I said no thank you no alternative was offered. My meal didn’t come out and when it was reordered it arrived cold. Complained so it was taken away and reheated in the microwave (could see where I had originally taken a spoon from). For such prices I expected a new meal not a microwaved one. And to top off this experience there’s no baby changing facilities! Asked a waiter and a simple no was all I got no apology or alternative. Needless to say won’t be returning.

Good quality food, excellent customer service

By MissusWorldTraveller |

Randomly chosen for two very hungry people in need of lunch! The service was great, we were seated right away. Our waiter welcomed us and promptly took our orders. Food arrived quickly, was fresh and streaming hot. As we got tucked in our waiter checked that we were happy with the food, and to check if there was anything else he could do to further please our visit. Would definitely revisit.

Excellent service. Great menu. Outstanding quality

By Tim D |

Potstickers...perfect DanDan Noodles. Knockout. KongPao Chicken. Wow. Sautéed green beans. Unbelievable. Short story even shorter, this is a fantastic place with great service and a dynamite menu. It is simple...only 20-ish items on there, but you can’t go wrong. The quality of the ingredients is top notch and it shows in the product. Great for families, nice environment, and friendly service. The price was very reasonable given the location. I highly recommend.

So good, we went twice

By GrumpyReviewsUK |

The menu is incredibly varied, so we visited twice during our stay in Los Angeles. We each tried different plates from noodles, soup and dumplings. All of it was delicious, although, you might want to be choose some smaller dishes, and share, so you have a variety.

Delicious, Authentic Asian food!

By Misty M |

We were leaving Universal studios (don’t eat inside the park, expensive gross food) & decided to try their food, was absolutely delicious. We ordered Mongolian beef, chicken fried rice, freshly made dumplings 🥟, it was different, authentic, & Yummy!

Surprisingly Good!

By Tjokrosaputro |

When we walked along the Universal City Walk, we were not expecting great non-western or non-Californian delicacies. But surprisingly, Dongpo was giving us an authentic Chinese delicacies, soul satisfying dishes. The Belly Pork Slider was excellent, the serrano beef offers Sichuan's heat, and the dim sum, while they were limited, were good too.Try to be a bit more creative by putting the pork belly into the steam bun, that was the best Chinese sandwich.

It’s ok

By jmo02 |

Wife and I had dinner here. She really wanted to try it. It was just ok. I’ve had way better Chinese food and home in Modesto CA. The duck sliders were ok, the meat was the best part. I left the “bun”. The pot stickers were good. The wonton soup was gross, no flavor. The garlic green beans was the best part of the meal. Don’t think I’d go back.

Really nice but ...

By Tony C |

The food was really nice lots of flavour and good size serves. However I had to ask for one dish four times before we finally got it and then the waiter wasn't happy when he didn't get a good tip. But again the meal was really good.

Meh

By Sara I |

Service was slow, the food wasn't any better than the prepackaged sushi you can get in any supermarket. Very expensive for what you get - we had two entrees, two beers, one cocktail, no appetiser nor dessert and paid $120. Wouldn't go back.

So-So. No More.

By TravelXYX |

We ate here after a long day at Universal Studios, so we were “held hostage” by the tourist-centric City Walk. I typically don’t expect great food at these types of tourist attractions but we had no choice. This restaurant was no different. Food was mediocre and definitely not authentic. It’s, in sum, a tourist Chinese dining experience. The Spicy Chicken dish, described as a “specialty,” is an inauthentic take on spicy Szechuan Chicken. The dish had so many peppers that it left a horrible taste in your mouth, which then makes every sub-par dish taste funny (even the water). In all, below average tourist restaurant.

Real Chinese Food

By Phil P |

This is what real Chinese food looks and taste like. Get the roast duck... don't miss the roast duck. Did I say ROAST DUCK prepared by the top master chef of Dongpo. Like I said get the duck.

Great food

By melanien598 |

The food here was amazing. Our waiter was great and was able to accommodate my picky teenager. The only issue here was staff was fighting in the kitchen abs we could hear it. Then the argument was brought out on the floor for all to see. Loved the food not the drama.

Dissapointing

By Julianna Z |

Food came very quickly which was nice, but it was quick for a reason. My noodles were luke warm at best and very very salty, like enough salt for a week. My friend had tofu and it wasn't cooked correctly and the sauce had been obviously sitting because it was starting to separate. At least it was reasonably priced and a large quantity...

Decent Chinese food

By Rob G |

We sort of knew this is not the most reasonably priced Chinese restaurant, but it is located at Universal CityWalk. We ordered Wonton Soup that was okay, but the taste was bland. Then we got Chicken Fried Rice that tasted pretty flavorful (even flavored throughout the dish). Next was Serrano Beef, which was like a boiled beef with lots of serrano peppers and Jalapeno (I believe). One thing we noticed that this dish is pretty spicy. The final dish we ordered was Roast Duck. Now that was well done. Crispy outer skin with tender meat. The restaurant itself has a nice decor and a pleasant atmosphere. The server we had was nice, but did not know too much about the Serrano Beef dish. The server thought it might not be all that spicy. We beg to differ. All in all, Dongpo Kitchen is a decent restaurant. We just wished the portions were slightly larger for the price.

Delicious Szechuan Cuisine!

By lovesh |

My husband, son and I shared a wonderful meal last night at Dongpo Kitchen. Our server Anthony was very nice and helpful. All the dishes he recommended were on the spot. Portion sizes are generous and the price is right. The ambiance is modern but serene, and if you sit in the back you can't even hear what's happening outside. Food came out super quick and everyone was very nice! I particularly recommend the organic chicken wonton soup and the pumpkin cakes for dessert, they were delicious!

Very authenic Chinese cuisine in a very touristy area. Worth the trip by itself.

By FREQTRAV12 |

Loved this place and was shocked how good this place was and how authentic the Chinese cuisine was. Flavors from different parts of China. The roast duck was excellent as were all the other dishes we had. Nice modern hip place and superb service.

The best Chinese food ever!

By Stefan K |

Me and my Danish family toured California for 3 weeks and ate at several restaurants during our trip. But this restaurant served some of the best food we ever got. Perfect Chinese food. We ordered a variety of small dishes and that was absolutely fantastic. The service was good. They made a mistake bringing us a drink we hadn't ordered... but they let us have the extra drink and no extra cost. Fantastic Chinese food!

Personable Service, Great food selection, healthy choices

By DaffodilBlush |

Where should we go for dinner? "Donpo Kitchen!" we said unanimously. Yes, and we couldn't be happier with the quick and efficient service from the team at Dongpo Kitchen, and special thumbs up to Jesse for his personable and friendly service! Despite the crowd on a Saturday evening, we were ushered quickly to our table and our food arrived within 20 mins after our order was placed. We chose alfresco dinning since the weather was nice and cool instead of waiting for a table inside the restaurant. We ordered the delicious duck slider and clear wanton soup (similar to what we had during our last visit) plus healthy stir fried broccoli, sichuan string bean and mapo doufu. Great choices!

Good lunch

By prettylobster |

After a busy and morning in Universal Studio, we went to Citywalk to have a good lunch and ended up having chinese food. The menu offers some traditional dishes you see in other chinese restaurant. The prices are not too bad. Wait staff are accomodating. Our orders came in quick and the food were good. Clean and modern interiors.

Unhygienic, terrible service, utter garbage

By Sean052 |

I wish I could give it zero stars. Utter garbage unhygienic, terrible. Waitress didn't have a clue. We ordered noodles for our kids and she said they were kid friendly, they must have been made with plutonium, ridiculously hot. We asked for a knife and fork for one of the children. After asking 3 times, we eventually got a plastic fork. They apparently didn't have any clean knives at the moment. What? I was asked if I'd like a second beer. I had about quarter left. She stood next to me and told me to finish the first one before she could put the second one down. Really Then the worst. I visited the restroom. It was utterly disgusting The place should be closed down. There was human waste on toilet seats. No hand towels. Waste soiled paper all Over the floors this is restaurant not a bus station at midnight. Utter garbage unhygienic, terrible.

Decent dinner

By AnnElizabeth97123 |

Stopped after a long day at universal studios. Convenient location; we were able to get right in. Got pork buns, wonton soup, potstickers and cold noodles with chicken. All were good and filling, though not the best I’ve had of any of them at other places.

Good chinese food

By zwso |

Price is reasonable, dang dang noodle and sour and spicy soup taste bit abnormal (for as Chinese, hehe), overall food is delicious 😋

Food was great..service had attitude (bad)

By Rich M |

We went for dinner after a fun day at Universal Studios. We were seated quickly then the fun began. Waiter was abrupt and unprofessional. He did not take time to explain the menu or anything about how the menu had "different" parts. He made some drive by comments that did not help in ordering or feeling like this was a positive experience. The food was great when we finally waded through the menu assisted by another waitress. Wish our waiter would have made more effort to make our visit enjoyable.

Real Chinese food

By KodoDrummer |

This is real, not Americanized, Chinese food. I found it to be authentic, as did my colleagues from Beijing and Hong Kong. I had over ten different dishes. All were very good to excellent.

Never again

By mirmey74 |

A waiter (Richard), who comes to your table, looking in a different direction during saying 'hello' is kind of strange... He asked for any drinking orders, I ordered water for everyone "at first" and wanted to look at the drinking menu. So he asked my children directly what they want to drink. (?!) So they got their drinks. Water for them came during we were eating... We ordered soups as appetizers, main dishes, and wine. Few minutes later we got one main dish, for one of us. We asked for our soups as appetizers. Main dish back, soups came. Three minutes later all our main dishes came. The one, they brought first, was back on the table. Nearly cold... During one of us was still eating, glasses were hal full, Richard put the check on the table. The dishes were not that good we hoped. Service was terrible. Wine was very good!

I imagine this is how food tastes in China?

By Elizabeth O |

Let me start by saying we are a mostly Latina family and not raised on Chinese cuisine. The menu was a bit intimidating, so we were a bit unsure what to order. (It didn't scream - Orange Chicken and lo mein noodles). The food was good, my kids ate with out complaint and it was nice to experience something different. It was nice to have variety though as we were season pass holders at Universal and bored with amusement park food.

Interesting tastes

By Brian |

When you first come here, it looks really fancy, and without taking a look at the menu, you probably think you won't have the money to eat here. Nothing could be further from the truth. I came here along with family and we all thought it was going to be uber expensive but upon closer look at the menu, we realized, they just really have a great sense of presentation, even though the food is quite affordable. We ate and all got different dishes, and chose to share with each other. The best dishes we got, were nearly all of them. The best one I recommend, is the Dan Dan Noodles and not too spicy. It was the best of all of them. Some other great mentions are mongolian beef, fried rice, and pretty much any dumpling you get here, along with a side of soy sauce. I would definitely come back and try more items on the menu. At first the dishes may not seem so big to you, but trust me, they're the perfect amount, because once you drink your water, you're going to get really full, so trust me when I tell you, their serving sizes, are perfectly reasonable. Loved the kind service I got here from a woman named Joy, and also a woman whose name I wish was told to me, she had blonde hair and was of a light skinned complexion. She was very kind as well. Thank you all who serve here! I had a most wonderful and courteous experience!

Full of flavour!

By Leanne Culina-Penza |

We were looking for something flavourful and different to the foods we had been enjoying on our trip and Dongpo was perfect! The Dan Dan noodle (although VERY spicy) was super tasty and exactly what I needed. Everything else we ordered was the same - full of flavour and it hit the spot! We will certainly be coming back to Dongpo in the future.

Very good Chinese restaurant!!

By Paola L |

My friend and I went to Dongpo Kitchen for a quick lunch and we remained pretty surprised: excellent food! The noodles and the roast duck sliders were awesome!! Highly recommended!!

If you’re tired with burgers and deep fried stuff

By Anton Antwerp |

Didn’t expect this good quality food in this super touristy area. Nice interior, super friendly staff, and really good food!

Delicately prepared

By Phi Somchai |

We came here for dinner and found the selection of Chinsese food to be very good. We had the roast duck, noodles and some other stir fried dishes. The food were delicately prepared and tasted authentic. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys Chinese food.

Lunch to Go!

By temby77 |

I walked in having seen the poster outside for the duck sliders and ordered them but they didn't have any available so I ordered the pork belly sliders instead. They were very spicy- I should have asked for the sauce on the side. The baos (pancake taco that the toppings were inside) were so light and soft and sweet! As I waited, I was offered ice water and the waiter was constantly checking to see if my order was ready. The wait staff in general were always on the move- filling glasses, checking in with their clients and setting up the other tables. All the food looked amazing as I looked at the plates that went by me. I would like to go back again and try the duck, obviously their specialty. The chef carving one as I waited had me mesmerized.

Authentic Chinese

By LPY39 |

Everything was very good except for the steam buns.Portions were just right. The place to go if you like spicy foods.Service was very good too.

Great restaurant!

By rodjin |

Very near Universal Studios. It provide authentic Chinese food , better than expected. Service is also good and quick. Worth a try!

Great authenic Chinese

By Guido65 |

We decided to try this as it had just opened on the City Walk at Universal. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server Tiffany was very helpful and explained the menu and the region of China which most of the food style was from. We tried the Meizhou Sausage which was delicious both the spicy and mild. For main course we tried Chopped Chicken with Garlic Sauce and Dan Dan Noodles with pork both were very delicious full of flavor. If you want try some more authentic flavor Chinese give this place a try

Good service and food

By Michael G |

Dongpo has an nice menu, some of my favorites like string beans, duck sliders and several dumpling options. The service was great - very warm welcome and attentive. Coty was very helpful in choosing my entrees. I do have to note the food was salty, more so than needed. Otherwise, a nice experience.

Great Food, Great Atmosphere

By GrumpyandVee |

I was here with my business colleague for dinner. The atmosphere is upscale and modern. The food was scrumptious! We were shocked when the appetizers came out one at a time, we thought they had forgotten the rest of our order, but the wait staff explained: They make each order one at a time and bring the food out so it is fresh and hot. And then the food just kept coming. I would definitely eat here again. There children eating at the table next to us, so it is appropriate for children. WARNING: Most of the dishes are spicy, so if you don't like spicy, you may not enjoy this restaurant.

Terrible Food

By Barry T |

Spoilt for choices in Universal City Walk we decided to try this place. They offered a set type menu and wished we had not ventured. Seriously, the food was terrible. Dry, tasteless and horrible. Appetisers and Entrees dumped on the table all at the same time. The so-called salad was a few pieces of old lettuce. One of the worst meals we have ever suffered. Give this place a miss.

Terrible food terrible service

By Nichokiu |

Come here to eat salt, half of the food is wasted. I don’t want to increase my blood pressure. Servers are unprofessional, no any smile and rude. They need basic training. The chefs’ is focus on the salt!!! Won’t come again

Hate Universal CitiWalk , Love Dongpo Kitchen

By kboy00 |

Normally, you'd have to shoot me and then drag my body to CitiWalk for me to go there. That might sound snobbish, but there is absolutely nothing I would want to buy or eat there. Until now the haute cuisine of CitiWalk was Bubba Gump Shrimp. Now, there is a reason to go. It's Dongpo Kitchen. I love spicy Szechuan food and this is one of the best Szechuan restaurants I've been to. I'm worried that the CitiWalk crowd won't understand the food, so I'm encouraging everyone to go. Afterwards you can stand outside the cotton candy (not kidding) restaurant and watch people eating mass quantities of cotton candy. Maybe not.

Amazing roast duck

By Dixytrix |

The roast (peking) duck was amazing. We also had the shezuan dumplings and vegetable egg rolls too. So nice to find this type of Chinese kitchen in universal city. I think we might come back too during our stay in LA.

VERY GOOD FOOD

By Enda C |

Well this is a brand new place, and although they were still a bit unorganized the staff were friendly and managed to pull it off. The food was of a good standard and we eat outside in their terrace. They had new patio heaters that they never got to work so with a little advise we got them working for them. All in good humor, perhaps I should have been given a discount or a free drink as they were just about to send them back to the seller to sort out. Anyway it served our purpose

A great option at CityWalk

By Kerry A |

We went to Dongpo for lunch after several hours at Universal Studios theme park. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 1 pm. We were immediately sat at a table. Our party consisted of two adults and two children. I don’t think they have kids menus. If they do, we weren’t offered one (which was fine, our children ordered off of the adult menu). We ordered 3 duck sliders for the table, 3 pork buns for the table, my kids ordered wonton soup, I ordered Mongolian beef with steamed white rice, and my husband ordered the pork Dan Dan noodles combo (which comes with a salad, soup, and mango pudding). The food came out fast! It also came out randomly: rather than the entire table’s order coming out at once, each entree came out as it was prepared. The duck sliders are really good. So is the Mongolian beef and the dan dan noodles. We really enjoyed our meal there and we would definitely go again.

Very delicious authentic Chinese food!

By WellDeservedVac... T |

Very delicious authentic Chinese food! There is a ton of Chinese tourists always coming out to Universal so perhaps they made this restaurant to satisfy them? Either way its very delicious. Had some delicious dumpling noodle soup and pork dishes

Nice escape

By GoodTravelJeanPierre |

After a rather stressful day in theme park we were looking for something different this time - a change from the many restaurant chains. Dongpo was just what we needed. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and great Chinese food. Unfortunately they were out of the hot noodles - so we opted for the roast duck sliders, pork buns, Sichuan dumplings and the fried rice with chicken. All good dishes, perfectly presented and cooked. Service was quick and efficient.

Awful experience!

By califSilvita |

We love chinese food but this place is so bad. Went there 2 days ago and sat outside bc weather was beautiful. One waitress came took our drinks orders, someone else came to take our order, a total of 4 servers came to our table. Duck sliders and pork baos tasteless. Also order the eggrolls and 2 were burnt, something that should never be served, but nobody came to check if everything was ok. Will never be back to this restaurant. I imagine that they get a lot of tourists and go once and never will return.

Unprofessional and Fraudulent Act

By jazziev85 |

Last night we went to Dongpo Kitchen after a awesome day at Universal Studios. I was less than impressed Firstly the staff were totally unorganised people falling over each other trying to clean tables not everyone knew what they were doing and the lady at the front desk very very rude. We were the second couple on the list to be seated and than more people were seated before us. When we were finally seated for dinner we order a couple of entrees and mains. The mains came out before the entrees and the food was cold. After telling the staff they re-heated it in a microwave and were not apologetic at all. I decided after the service and the food being cold to not give a tip so I crossed out the tip section and write the total amount we would pay This morning when checking my credit card I had notice the staff had charged an extra $20 to the service. This is very unprofessional and a fraudulent act.

O.K. food, HORRIBLE service

By joandodge |

Some of the dishes were delicious, like the Szechuan Pot Stickers, Green Beans and Broccoli. The Hot & Sour Soup was o.k., however the Duck Sliders lacked flavor and the Pork Dumplings were awful. What made the evening worse was our server, Nicholas W. He barely knew we were even there. He didn't engage, he didn't bring my spouse's iced tea at all, he never asked if the others at our table wanted another glass of wine (missed revenue!). We watched him wander all around the restaurant with seemingly nothing to do. He never checked on us. When he brought the check he left it with the young couple with us. I think he must think that he's taken our order and he deserves a tip for that. Dining is a whole experience: food, drink and friendly service. He failed!

Out of this world food

By Madhav66 |

I went to Dongpo's Kitchen with family and friends. They were very accomodating to our large group. I had the Sichuan glass noodle soup. This was simply exotic and delicious - visually appetizing, spicy, flavourful and had texture!! People in our group tried the spicy chicken and the Mapo Tofu all of which were superb. Wish they would open up a branch in Phoenix.

Good Choice on Universal City walk

By SB20177 |

Great food on a great location! We tried several dishes including fried rice, potstickers, spicy chicken - everything was good. The Kung-Pao chicken in particular was very different and unlike anything I had in the past - and it was awesome!

Delicious

By Ankita V |

I visited this place for lunch on my day trip in universal studios. It's absolutely delicious. The ambience is clean and modern. Servers are very friendly and attentive Good drinks Appetizer - We had Garlic chicken wings and sichuan dumplings... the wings were a little pink and I guess it was not the way I eat them. The dumplings were absolutely amazing. Entree - They have set meals or just entree by itself. I had the set meal which comes with soup, rice and mango pudding. Highly recommend the Mapo Tofu and beef with garlic sauce.

Dinner after the Universal Studio Tour

By Michael V |

Dongpo Kitchen is a wonderful restaurant. The space is contemporary and very clean. Service was friendly, but slow on drink refills. The menu was great and something for every Asian food lover. The potstickers were delicious and very flavorful. The spicy chicken dish was awesome, loaded with a plentitude of chopped red hot peppers...we were careful to not eat many of the peppers as the chicken was seasoned enough on their own, but go for it if you wish. The dish also has crispy green peppercorns strewn throughout. Eating those resulted in a very unique sensation; our tongues went tingly-numb. The waiter said that numbness would last about 20 minutes after dinner and he was correct. The only drawback to the dish was that some of the chicken gristle and cartilage ended up on the plate which doesn't appeal to everyone.

Good option after a day out

By BrianH40 |

We went here for dinner late at night after drinks at Margaritaville and a day in Universal Studios. The duck pancakes were very good... I guess that's what they are known for. Mongolian beef OK.

Delicious food with great service

By Heather M |

This is now one of my favorite lunch spots on Universal CityWalk. They not only have delicious, traditional Chinese food, but an amazing staff. Our server, Mary, was very attentive and accommodating. She was able to anticipate our needs before we even asked (i.e. needing forks and spoons, extra napkins, more water, etc.) Dongpo's duck egg rolls are the best I've had in LA. They are perfectly crisp and savory, creating a state a bliss in my mouth. Their Meizhou Pork Buns are also something to write home about! If you are looking for a great lunch or dinner spot on CityWalk, add Dongpo Kitchen to the top of your list!

Read a review and wanted to see how factual it was.

By ScottC38801 |

IT WAS!!! Excellent hot and sour soup, delicious pickled vegetables, and I had the wok seared filet mignon with roasted garlic cloves and pearl onions. My dining companions had the crispy duck and the Dan Dan noodles. We were all VERY pleased with our choices. I recommend this place after a day at Universal to relax, unwind and eat scrumptious food.

Without a Doubt the Best Restaurant in City Walk

By Andrew E |

Real Food prepared by an All Asian Team. Did not Disappoint, Freshly Prepared, Great Fresh Ingredients

I've had better, but not bad

By Satoka E |

I came here after spending a day at Universal Studios. Honestly though, I have my favorite and rather famous dumpling place, but I gave this place a shot simply because it's here. The food was good, nothing bad, service was little slow, so overall, not a bad place at all, but I'm just saying that I've had better elsewhere.

Fresh food, refreshing atmosphere, great selections

By Sunshine_titan |

So glad we chose to eat here! All dishes were fresh, tasted amazing, and the ambiance was a nice change from the commercialism outside in the Walk. Can't wait to return!

Reception rude and food service terrible

By fluffybellybutton |

Visited here after a visit to universal studios and for my sons birthday meal The receptionist was impatient with us whilst we were looking at the menu We were sat next to the door which felt like we shared our dinner with 10 other randoms waiting for a table The food came out in drubs and drabs one tiny bit at a time with the rice coming out last and did not get eaten My wife's dish came out incorrect and we all ended up eating at separate times This was mentioned to the waiter, but nothing was done in terms of reducing the bill, etc The food when it was out was ok Felt like the restaurant was ripping off tourists

Good quality Asian food

By DaffodilBlush |

Love the duck sliders, cold noodles and the clear wanton soup. You can tell the quality of the food compared with other typical restaurants on the same row. Simple dishes that is not overwhelming. If you want something light, tasty and flavorful non fried but steamed and boiled, this restaurant is a good choice.

Excellent For Staff - Food are Just OK

By Olala |

I was at the Universal City walk in LA last week with my family. We passed by st this restaurant many times and the pictures of the food they have outside were so inviting so we decided to have dinner here. Unfortunately, the food did not match up to what we expected to taste. The food were too greasy, spicy and the tea pot was cold and taste more like water. Our server suggested that we order the Spicy Chicken. We couldn’t eat it as there was an ingredient that just did not sit well in our tastebuds. I have to say our server was kind enough to take that item off our bill. For that reason I give them a high score for service 👍👍👍 All establishments should offer this service if you are not satisfied as this act could only benefit the tip for the server‼️

Very disappointing

By MakimotoFamily |

Hi all, My wife and I went there during some cold weather. We were seated towards the front of the restaurant. It was hard to relax and eat with people standing around your table and looking down at your plates. The restaurant serves full dished or Dim Sum style. This Chinese food restaurant advertises that duck is there specialty. The pictures of the duck sliders (duck on steamed bread) looked awesome. It was very disappointing to find the duck was bland. The steamed bread had more flavor! the pork buns were average. However, the Shumai was quite tasty. My wife ordered the sauted string beans that despite several inquiries, took quite a while to arrive. Maybe we visited on a bad day but we were very disappointed. Good travels

Average food with not great service

By Berney B |

Ordered food came over 30minutes apart. Hard to get attention of staff even though restaurant was not extremely busy, however they are polite. Food is average, especially for cost.

Poet of the Hill

By OutyAbouty |

Yes, i am referring to the NEW Sichuan Chinese restaurant, DongPo Kitchen at Universal City's CiyWalk... Finally an upscale place away from the noisy main tourist atrium on the Walk. Food is tasty and imaginative if a little bit inconsistent. (They do seem to be actively trying to work the kinks out.) Features a wine list, and minimal amount of kids as well. Nice contemporary elegance of marble, wood & glass(not to mention beautiful hanging calligraphy brushes) for local daylight business/ expense account lunches, romantic first-date, or date-night along the peripheral half-booths... Make reservations for a particular table, larger party, or evening dining.

The Best of City Walk

By BethB02 |

When I travel, I try to eat at a place not readily available in my own backyard. When you get to City Walk, you see chain places with familiar names and cuisines (Buca di Beppo, Bubba Gump, Starbucks). A place that was unfamiliar was Dongpo. I live in a town that severely lacks good Chinese food, so it was instantly the place I wanted to try. I cannot tell you how happy my husband and I were with our food here! I recommend splitting and entrée, the green beans, and a small plate. It's the right amount of food and keeps a reasonable bill. I LOVE the green beans. I also liked anything with wontons (we went there 3 times during our trip) and the pork with garlic sauce. The pork buns were also good. The real selling point on this place is that everything was brought out fresh and hot as it was ready from the kitchen. I get so tired of eating lukewarm restaurant food because my plate sat in the window while the rest of my table's food was cooking. This was never the case here. The food was terrific. Service was fine, but the food kept us coming back!
