Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. In San Francisco for a business trip and walked along Hayes looking a place for dinner. So glad we picked Doppiozero. We both had the ravioli that reminded me of the cream sauce in New Orleans. Smooth and rich and creamy. I ordered the Pera salad and my coworker order the Brussel sprouts which we split between us. Both were excellent and presented beautifully. We were so excited when the plates hit the table I forgot to take photos before digging in.

We had the Doppio Zero pizza - agreed that the crust was wonderful and most of the toppings as well. A little more intense flavor would have made the pizza perfect. There is a full bar with a very good beer list. We finished with some excellent chocolate cake (extremely chocolately and good). The service was very good, attentive without being intrusive. Price for SF is very reasonable. A solid choice for our future visits. The hostess left a bottle of hand santizer on the table, a welcome touch.

The cocktail list is great, all of us had cocktails and we all were happy with them, creative, beautiful, tasty. The food was not that great. Don't have seafood here. Service was nice and attentive despite the busy hours.

We started with the buratta and eggplant which was great. We had the ribbon pasta with shiitake mushrooms which was very good. The fresh bread was served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar which was a nice addition. We had pizza but definitely wasn’t anywhere as good as New York pizza so don’t expect it. The management offered to redo another pizza which was a bit better. Nice that they offered. Fantastic service

The place is nice on hayesstreet and it’s a real italian restaurant with italian waiters speaking italian. The pizza’s dough is very close to a real italian dough in Italy. So the final result is quite good. We were not found about the cake, that was thick and heavy in a very american style. Fresh salad, good service.

I want to share my awful experience at this restaurant. I made a reservation to have a farewell dinner for my partner who was flying back to Europe the next day, and this guy Chris put a dark and unhappy note to our night. On Wednesday, March 31 I call the restaurant to make a reservation (as instructed online to accommodate my party of seven). I called and the gentelman I spoke with confirmed my reservation for 7pm that night, for 7 people, took my name and phone number and said "see you tonight". When we got there I went straight to the host, I believe his name is Chris, and told him I had a reservation and I gave him my name, and his response was "oh yeah, I spoke to you on the phone", but when he looked for the reservation on his notes he couldn't find it and said "oh no, you didn't talk to me, you don't have a reservation"... I told him that just a second ago he said he remember my call and taking my reservation and his attitude changed and was really rude and ignored me, then I said whatever the issue was, just to figure it out and get me a table. Long story short, this guys was rude and started to make comments and he even throw his notebook and left me standing there, then his answer was "we are really busy, I don't have time to put a table together for you, I'll have to move tables and get chairs to accommodate you". So I said then do it, is not my mistake to fix. Then he got us a table and he only put 6 chairs and I told him we were 7, again he ignored me and left us waiting there and one of my guests was standing until a waiter showed up and we asked for a chair, then this guys Chris avoided eye contact the whole time we were there. I asked to speak to the manager 3 times, and no one came to me, turns out, the waiter told me that the manager name is Chris, I guess the same guy. Anyway, if he was a server, a host, the manager, the owner, DON'T TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS. This was my 4th time at Doppio Zero, my friends and I live in the neighborhood and we like to support local businesses, but this is the last time we bring our money to this restaurant. This guy should be ashamed for the way he treated his customers - which pays his salary - Appreciate your customers, specially now that many businesses are suffering due to COVID, appreciate that you have a clientele who brings money in. A group of 4 or 7 can easily spend hundreds of dollars at your business (my friends and I always order bottles of champagne, so we spend money), but not at Doppio Zero anymore. The owners should thank this rude guy Chris (if that is actually his name) for losing loyal neighbor customers.

This was a last minute choice before we boarded a plane to end our vacation. Service was a bit slow..but perhaps we were hangry and feeling a bit rushed to get some dinner and then make it to SFO. The food was good as were the drinks. Deserts were the highlight.

We shared the “Cavolfiore” which is roasted cauliflower, black currant, red onion,... which was a good small plate to share. The Garganelli pasta was good but nothing to write home about. The Pulcinella pizza with eggplant, cherry tomato and basil was quite good with a nice tasting pizza crust. The tiramisu and limoncello cake were delicious. The prices were very reasonable and service very attentive. My only complaint is the noise level was very high once the tables started filling up. I think if the music were turned down perhaps the patrons wouldn’t have to compete with the music and yell over it. I had an extremely difficult time hearing and communicating with my spouse.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Service was spot-on. We wanted to try an assortment of their offerings. Shoestring Truffle Fries and Cacio e Pepe were both very good, but the portions were small. The margherita pizza was just ok — lacked flavor and the crust was soggy in the middle. I’d skip their pizza in the future.

HORRENDOUS customer service but the food is delicious. This restaurant has amazing food but the service is beyond horrible. If you are looking for a good meal and no service – this is the place! The service overall is poor. At first we thought it was our server only but once another group was seated beside and we saw how they were treated, we realized it’s just the way the restaurant is run.

I tried this place a few weeks ago and ordered pizza. The pizza was not very good. Crust was burnt adn lacked any sort of taste. Today I thought I'd give it a second try and I am sorry that I did. I ordered their special of the day - 3 different fish, ileted with arugala salad. the fish was way over cooked and again had no taste. If their special of the day is bad, then there is something seriously wrong witj this place.

We were looking for a fast dinner so selected Doppio Zero. Pizza cooked in minutes and was DELISH. Highly recommend!

We dropped in to Doppio Zero without a reservation needing to get a quick meal before a concert. Although the place was hopping, they found a spot for us and the food, wine and service were all excellent. It was quite noisy in our corner.

The is what I call authentic Italian food down to the server! I had the Positano Sandwich which was really good and my friend had the Marechiaro which she thoroughly enjoyed. We also enjoyed a glass of wine and for dessert we shared the limoncello cake. One word "delicous". I will definitely be back.

Try the relavioli. Probably one of the best I ever tasted. Nice environment. Friendly personel. Good value for the money.

Ate here twice, Saturday and Sunday nights. Dining solo, was shown to the same table both evenings; table wobbled. No biggie. The food was great- pizza the first night (can't recall the name, but it was loaded including artichoke)- and it was very good. About $18. Had the hanger steak special the second visit, and it was very tasty, well-prepared, with great sides. Bit pricey at $30. Service first night was great, second less so especially after the bill was requested: the baseball game ended, the football game ended, and the channel was changed to hockey in the time it took to get the check; easily 12 minutes. Most importantly, the food was terrific.

This was a restaurant I had visited before and enjoyed very much. My spouse and I were here yesterday evening for an early pre-concert dinner. The place is cheerful and lively, with a somewhat trendy but casual ambience. The service was truly excellent; waitstaff was efficient, making sure that everything was just right and picking up used plates, etc. almost the minute the food for that particular course was finished. The food was delicious. The wood-fired jalapeño pizza had a thin, blistered crust and a generous portion of toppings. The marechiaro pasta (subbed fettuccine for squid-ink tagliarini) was exceptional. Clams and sea scallops were just barely (but fully) cooked, sauce was great, and the pasta was perfectly al dente. For dessert, we had the panna cotta, which was fine, if not exceptional. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, particularly if you are attending a performance in the area.

Everyone should try the "doppio zero" pizza. Incredibly good Pizza. The base was cooked exactly as it should be, and the topping was fantastic. Good wine and good recommendation of beer. Very satisfied.

Great location for a casual pasta or pizza dinner before SF Jazz, the Symphony or an Opera performance. Starters: Calamari & Shrimp Fritti is tender & served hot. Caesar Salad is rich & cheesy and easily shared. Entre’s: Lasagna is a wonderful combination of thin layers of pasta, cheeses & thick, rich beefy tomato sauce thru out, again large enough to share and avoid taking “left overs” to the theatre. Definitely save room for Desserts: Affogato is better than an after dinner coffee, the Chocolate cake is rich, dark icing & cake and their Tiramisu is one of the best we’ve had.

Visited late September& took advantage of happy hour, which includes food& drinks. Wine was $4 off& $2 from beer too, amongst other offers. The food was really great, small portions so order a side, but enough for a decent meal. Lovely service- would recommend

Just arrived in San Francisco and this place was just around the corner from our hotel. Was in the mood for a simple meal of pizza and beer and was surprised these were no reviews on TA for it - is it new? Went in about 7pm on a Wednesday to find it humming. We were seated quickly however. In summary, the salad was good (not over dressed as is so often the case), pizza was good, pasta ok, service quick, efficient, friendly and sufficiently attentive. It is noisy if that is an issue for you. Enjoyed our meal.

attentive service, free wifi, excellent food: their doppio zero pizza was excellent, as well as the cauliflower rice and burrata.

We eat out regularly, once a week, so we are not beginners. Are favorite Italian restaurants in The City are: Delfina, Seven Hills, Catonia and Pissetta 211 (for pizza). Doppio Zero is not even close to any of these. The service was friendly but the food was something that anyone could make at home, or in some cases, not. Cauliflower Starter was the chopped up cauliflower you buy at Costco with some odds and ends added. It was healthy but bland. Tri color Salad with Prawns added was small and tasteless but we got our greens for the day. We saved the worst for last. The Pepper, Sausage and some-kinda-meat Pizza. We asked for it Extra Baked. It came to us watery, floppy, tasteless and with large slices of jalapeno peppers. We asked the manager if the pizza was suppose to be watery and floppy and she said, "Oh yes, that's Neapolitan Pizza". OK. We just rolled with the punches, ordered another glass of wine, which was good, and didn't stress-out. Would we go there again...NO! We would recommend this place...NO!!! There are too many new places to try.

The service was fast and the drinks weren’t super pricey for the area. We didn’t eat, we were visiting and wanted some late night drinks for my birthday. I was not at all intoxicated or even tipsy. My friend and I were simply having some drinks to celebrate. Our waiter was very judgmental and rude when I asked for another drink. He rolled his eyes at me once. Had it not been for him, the experience would have been very pleasant. I recommend visiting for the ambiance and romantic outdoor seating. I hope you don’t get the same rude waiter who apparently doesn’t think women should have more than two drinks.

Early dinner, at this Italian, chosen after reading reviews and checking on home page. Very busy, especially around theatre opening time. Super atmosphere, typically Italian. Food was great. Pizza dough, as you would expect, was outstanding. The only down side, was, getting main course, before appetisers we’re finished. Just put an uncomfortable edge to the experience. But, would definitely be up for a return visit,

Perfectly serviceable, the exact example of 3 stars. I live nearby but had never been in as Gioia right down the street is fantastic. For October, they are running their Margherita Pizza at the happy hour price all day on Mondays. I ordered the Margherita and the shrimp/calimari combo, along with sparkling water to drink (in honor of how they do it in Napoli!). It was perfectly fine, especially at the happy hour price point. However I found the pizza dough very bland and almost too much charring for the strength of the sauce and toppings. The basil was super minimal, and the cheese level low. I ended up giving my leftover crust to a homeless guy who walked by and asked if he could have it. The breading on the calimari had no flavor and the pairing of their pizza sauce as the dipper didn't quite work. I was one of maybe 3 parties in there tops as it was right at open and service was incredibly lack luster. The bottle of sparkling water: $8, which is kinda funny when the food items were $10. Also note if sitting outside, their tables for parties of 1 and 2 are on the busy street compared to the much quieter Hayes side. I'd totally do it again for takeout of a pizza during happy hour, but otherwise I see no real reason to return. I am probably slightly having high standards considering I was in Italy a month ago eating all the pizza, but meh.

We had an amazing experience at Doppio Zero. We were a group of 10 people for our wedding day lunch. We arranged everything with the General Manager, Jacob, who went above and beyond to make our day go incredibly smoothly. Our waiter (don't remember their name!) was amazing, attentive and patient - just what is needed for a large party! The food was also great, and everyone in our party was happy. We cannot recommend Doppio Zero enough!

I went here on a busy Saturday night, but the hostess was able to accommodate me with a table without a wait. I have scarcely seen a restaurant staff run so fast to keep everyone happy and the service moving along! I had two courses: a delicious and refreshing watermelon salad (which I will have to replicate at home) and the wild boar rage, the special of the evening. Both were excellent, and the agog, over fettuccine, was served piping hot fro the kitchen. The whole meal was very satisfying and I had the opportunity to dine without being rushed in plenty of time for my opera performance at the nearby Opera House (perfect location for the Opera or the Symphony). The only negatives were the high level of staff activity, which kept the environment from being at all relaxing, and the noise level. But I was by myself so wasn't trying to make conversation.

My friend chose Doppio Zero because of its central location in Hayes Valley and availability of outdoor seating. The food and wine were good and reasonably priced. The wait staff were pleasant and always available. Hayes Street is a busy one-way arterial, and it can be noisy for outdoor diners. I imagine the inside tables are quieter.

Delicious Italian food and wine. We had some truffle fries, a clam spaghetti and scallop risotto paired with a Pinot Grigio - outstanding. Great staff!

We visited for lunch before a performance of The Nutcracker at the nearby War Memorial House. The restaurant was packed and service was a bit rushed, but the food was excellent. We had pear salad, burrata, seafood salad, and spinach ravioli. Everything was delicious. I’ll definitely be back !

Stopped in for a little light refreshments after visiting the Asian Art Museum. Five pm on a spring Saturday, the place was hopping! We were seated within five minutes and had cool water to quell our thirst almost instantly. We were a party of six with various orders. The pizza was reminiscent of Roman pies enjoyed at the source! Waitstaff was professional and friendly!

Great place for lunch before heading to symphony or opera. We ordered the Brussels sprouts appetizer and it was delicious. The couple next to us had calamari and it looked really good. Portions of food are generous. My companion ordered the halibut daily special. I had the grilled chicken, pepper and carmelized onion sandwich which came with French fries. Looking around I saw a lot of items I would like to try.

After meeting our friends at the chocolately heavenly place across the way they pointed us here for dinner. It was less than the promised 39 min wait ( good for a Sat night in SF). Maitré de was upset when we asked to move one table over (“now we have another to clean”!?). We had my little on at a 2 top and wanted the corner. Made us feel bad for a minimal request. The wait staff was nice and efficient. The appetizer of calamari was light and tasty and appeared in minutes of ordering. My drink had 2 long/full height of glass “cubes” which was neat and different. The pasta came out well before the pizza. Both were tasty but there was just a heavy hand with the black pepper on the squid ink seafood pasta. The fungi pizza was perfectly made. The dough thin and the crust perfectly chewy. The flavors mixed really well. Would enjoy eating there again. Ambiance: part way through the meal the lights dimmed. The music was just loud enough to enjoy but easy to speak over. The two large TV’s over the bar were distracting and cheapened the atmosphere of what is otherwise a homey Italian feel.

This place was suggested by the owners of our Airbnb, but we initially chose not to try it due to only 4 stars here on TripAdvisor. However, on our last night we wanted a place close to our Airbnb and decided to give it a try and I am SO glad we did! Excellent everything! We were quickly seated and greeted by our waiter. After we placed our order, our food came out quickly and it was phenomenal! We got truffle fries, ravioli, lasagna, and the half Maine lobster and they were all outstanding! Definitely the best meal we had in San Francisco! Eat here!

If you are looking for a bite after the ballet and don't mind a short walk, navigate your way to Hayes Valley - a trendy neighborhood. The restaurant is not as LIT as Chez Maman or Absinthe across the street, and you'll often find is less crowded. The food is good! Cocktails are hit or miss, but the bartender is fair and happy to make you a new one if you didn't love your drink. Had a pre-dinner appetizer and drinks here while we waited for our reservation to come through.

A solid performer for Italian food. The entrees were delicious and generous. We had a variety of pasta entrees. Good wine list at reasonable prices. For covid-era safety, there is outside eating, which is the one drawback, because the restaurant is in busy Hayes Valley, with many motorcyclists who like to make noise.

Dropped in for a late lunch with only a couple of other parties in the large dining room and a few soccer fans watching ESP v ITA at the bar. The servers were very attentive and friendly. The food was tasty, but a little more patience at the wood-fire oven would have gone a long way to improve my fast but undercooked calzone. Good char on the outside, the center was underdone. My wife's meatballs were likewise tasty but could have been hotter.

My friend and I discovered Doppio Zero by accident while searching for another venue in Hayes Valley - and what a find! Our server was super-friendly and efficient, and all the staff were helpful. Our salads were wonderfully fresh and flavorful. We shared a Margherita pizza with olives, prepared in an authentic Italian wood-burning oven. The dough was thin, yeasty and crispy, well complimented by the tasty sauce and mozzarella. We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and good cuisine.
Late lunch on the day before christman
A hungry family go four vegetarians walked in to this restaurant just before closing time. We ordered for Ravioli and a vegetarian pomodoro pasta short pasta with wild mushrooms asparagus and tomatoes( i can’t recall what it was called on the menu) suggested by the waiter. Service was very quick. However the Zucchini soup that we ordered for came late after the pastas were already served. Their cappuccino was probably one of the best I’ve had in sfo. It is very hard to please a south indian with coffee and I must say the coffee was great!
