Good Mexican in Central Atlanta

By gefilte63 |

This is a solid choice for a meal in central Atlanta within an easy walk of World of Coca Cola, the Aquarium, and the Civil Rights Center. The staff was very friendly and the food was also quite good. Big menu with lots of choices including plenty of vegetarian options. Nice atmosphere with good music in the background.

Great Local Find

By CocoaLily |

Huge, two story clean, restaurant with a lot of space. Micah P was very friendly, professional and provided great service. He was on top of things during our visit. The chips and salsa were fresh and very good. I had the Shrimp Po Boy for my meal and it was just as delicious for a great price.

WOW! Great food at reasonable prices!

By TravelingMikegyver |

This restaurant is attached to the Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Downtown. Not only is it convenient when staying at the hotel, it has excellent food! It has mexican and cajun selections. I know a different combination, but what a surprise! Great Service, Great Food, Great chips and salsa! One person in our party had the enchiladas, I had the catfish. Both were wonderful!

Delicious Tex Mex Menu, Great Staff

By Leticia S |

We visited Dos Bocas recently because we were staying at the adjoined Hilton Garden Inn, and were looking for something quick and filling. This was a fantastic choice! Our server was Chinet, who was extremely gracious and attentive. She was training a new team member, who was also very attentive and prompt with our requests. Our orders were delivered to the table quickly and the food was fantastic. They offer complimentary chips with salsa, versus the traditional bread option some restaurants may offer, which we were happy with. There was also an option of a guacamole which was EXCEPTIONAL. Must order item on the menu. We also ordered the quesadilla and gumbo as appetizers, both of which were fantastic. Our entrees were also excellent, which included a redfish with vegetables and the Chicken Zydeco, which was delicious. Portions were large, so no room for dessert, but if they are anything like the rest of the meal, would have probably been delish. Kudos to the check here and the staff - they did a great job welcoming us to Atlanta. We will definitely be back when in town again.

Excellent food

Excellent food. The service was even better! Kid friendly and affordable. Each child’s meal is served with ice cream at the end!

Would have been a three...but....

By Henry L |

So, Tuesday night I ate there. The service was good. The food was pretty good. I had grilled chicken something or other with beans and rice and they were tasty. I figured since I am staying at this hotel, I'll give it a try. It was good, not great. So, tonight, since I am staying here and leaving tomorrow, I decided to order take-out from them on this warm Thursday night. I called from the room and a person with a Latin accent answered. He was helpful! Then, in the background, a voice saying, "You answered the phone! You're not supposed to answer the phone! I can't do a take-out order! Is it on hold?" Well, needless to say, since they didn't want my business, at least the person who identified himself as Troy didn't want my business, I ate elsewhere.

Just ok

By kjoe16 |

Food was ok, nothing exciting. The chicken tenders were extremely dry and close to inedible. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend.

Tex-mex and Cajun dinner

By Dana S |

We wanted something different for dinner on our recent ATL vacation. This place did the trick! And more… The chips and salsa were a great starter. Our family got gumbo (be ready for the spice) and blackened chicken. Both were amazing. So glad we chose this place!

Authentic

Good service and the food was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. The Monterey bowls were large and flavorful. Excellent family atmosphere.

Okay

By rockstar89 |

This was okay. We had a large group and they were great to help us out with that. Interesting mix of cajun and Mexican. I had the bayou shrimp and fries. They were decent fried shrimp. Fries average. My wife had the quesadilla. It did not come out until most of us were done eating. (Including other quesadillas). That was strange. Instead of just saying ‘hey, we messed up, the waitress kept saying ‘there’s a back up in the kitchen on this item.’ It finally came out and it was…. A quesadilla. Could have been pulled together in about 2 minutes. The other odd thing. My wife got unsweet tea and asked for artificial sweetener which was never brought. I went to the bar to ask for it since our waitress obviously had WAY too many tables including multiple large groups, and the bartender said they didn’t have any in the restaurant. A manager came over and said they could go to a local hotel and borrow some, but we were already at the end of the meal. Our waitress was very laid back and did okay, she was just almost too laid back. No energy. I’m appreciative they could handle our large group, but there may be a reason they weren’t that busy when there was a soccer game and a huge volleyball event right across the street. It was just okay.

Great place to eat!

By Foodie1974 |

If visiting Atlanta, be sure to visit Dos Bocas. The food and service is excellent! You won’t be disappointed! Be sure to say hi to the manager, Ryan! Super nice guy!

We will dine there again.

Low key, very good food, helpful wait staff, friendly atmosphere. Nicely set if you're visiting the Atlanta Aquarium, or staying in the Hilton Garden.

Meal was drowning in butter!

By creativecrew |

We saw positive reviews so came here for what we thought would be a good lunch. We were disappointed! The Chicken Zydakah was drowning in a pool of grease! My colleague was so hungry he ate his full meal but was later sorry—it did not sit well. The staff was pleasant and the warm chips were a nice touch (although the salsa didn’t taste fresh). There is a huge bar so perhaps if we were drinking it might have seemed better. But there is a lot of competition in downtown Atlanta and this did not rise to our expectations.

Great Experience! Great Food!

I highly recommend this place! Excellent food! I ordered the three tacos entree and it was delicious!

Average Mexican Restaurant

By Skip C |

Not overwhelmed by the quality of food. Service was excellent just wish the food would have matched. Standard Mexican menus and not much better than a chain restaurant .

Delicious food and service

By travel963 |

Dos Bocas means "two mouths." In other words, Mexican and Cajun. Half the menu is Mexican, half Cajun. My wife enjoyed the chicken quesadilla (Mexican) and I enjoyed Zydeco Chicken (Cajun.) Excellent free chips and salsa. A very good margarita. Food and service here were for us very much above average, but not the price. A special place, recommended!

Very good food

By heifey |

Me and my husband decided to try this spot while in town for a football game. It was a Saturday night so of course it was a bit crowded, but the wait was not too bad at all. The prices were pretty reasonable and the food portions were good. Also really enjoyed my margarita! Would definitely try again when back in town.

Didn’t care for it.

By Yuna |

This is a very small menu. Only Two choices for kids - cheese quesadilla or tacos that’s it. The drinks weren’t great and the food wasn’t very good. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive but I wouldn’t eat here again tbh.

Good take out option, long wait if dining in

By Chad2014 |

They only open half the restaurant on weekdays and therefore have very limited space. It seems apparent that they are struggling to find an adequate number of quality staff. We waited a very long time to be seated and attended to. That being said, the food was actually very good. I recommend the enchilada verdes. But just order it take out...

Excellent Quality

By Randi P |

This was an excellent experience; food was fresh and everyone enjoyed their meal (our party ate everything from salads to enchiladas - all fantastic). Service was great. Get the queso !!! The atmosphere was also very inviting. Highly recommend and will be back !

Evening snack

By Tim N |

Gotta tell you, this is another gem. My family and I went in for a beer and a snack. I asked Quint, our server, what was something light to snack on... He suggested a taco, so I ordered a taco and a beer - a beer brewed across the street at their own brewery! Very good beer, great taste. Their homemade salsa was killer. When my SINGLE taco arrived, I was blown away at the size... It was quite large, and stuffed full. More than I wanted... But I devoured it!! All in all, the perfect way to finish off my birthday weekend!

Pretty unfriendly place...

By lauren b |

Stopped in for quick VERY early dinner bite around 5:00pm or so on a Tuesday. Restaurant, understandably, rather empty. Hostess quite rude... no smile or greeting. Despite completely empty dinging room, she sat me at a horrible table right across from the server prep area and kitchen door entry. NOT the lovely table by the window or even a quiet spot. Literally the WORST table in the place. It was accompanied by the utterance "You will sit here". My server was friendly enough but the food expediter who brought out my meal was also incredibly unfriendly, just put the food in front of me and walked away... not even a smile. Manager was freely walking around chatting with staff and despite almost no customers at this time and never stopped by once or even looked at me during my entire 30 minutes stay. Food was fine.. not good, not bad, but fine.

Don't be confused by name. Its Tex-Mex and New Orleans styles.

By 2leconte |

Yes this place best of two worlds. Easily across the street from the Aquarium. Walking distance to many great locations in downtown Atlanta. Great service. Spacious. Portions are very large. I had an appetizer an it filled me up. Great chips and salsa too.

If you’re from Texas, just don’t.

By MelindaD972 |

Not sure what this was, but it was NOT Tex-Mex. We honestly should’ve known that since we are east of the Red River, Mexican wouldn’t really be Mexican. Service was slow, and the cocktails were worse than the food. I will say the place is kid friendly, as evidenced by the 10-12 kids who were dancing and jumping on the table tops while their parents seemingly enjoyed their terrible drinks and food. Giving 2 stars because the decor and atmosphere were cool. I’ll skip this place on my next trip to ATL.

The restaurant was just ok

By Phil R |

The restaurant was very conveniently located. The service was excellent. The food was ok, but not great. The drinks were just ok. The folded seemed a little pricey, but not horribly so. Would I eat there again? Maybe.

Great Tex-Mex Food!

Dos Bocas represents another exceptional dining option from Legacy Ventures in Downtown Atlanta. Dos Bocas' location at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Atlanta makes it an idyllic site for not only the hotel guests but also the visitors to Centennial Park. Legacy Ventures epitomizes this industry with execution of duties to the highest standards. Menu options remain quite tasty and the quality of food and service remains impeccable. Chris, Ryan, and Victoria manage their relevant roles in concert with Legacy Ventures' Core Values. This directly reflects in their employees' roles as bartenders, servers, and hostesses. A wide array of tequilas including Don Julio 1942 will satisfy most palates. The chips and salsa compliment an atmosphere conducive to enhance your business/social engagements. Give Dos Bocas a try. Both mouths will appreciate it.

Worst dining experience in my 42 years on planet earth

By Niki J |

My husband and I touched down today at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 28. Excited and giddy for our first flight since 2019, we had high expectations for our first meal in Atlanta. Opting to skip airport food in lieu of a local restaurant where we could relax with a drink and a nice meal after dropping off our bags. We snaked our way through the dizzying labyrinth corridor to Rideshare Zone 7, and we were picked up by a friendly Uber driver who whisked us to our hotel downtown within 17 minutes: the Hilton Garden Inn. Leading up to this trip that we booked in January, we were so excited to learn our hotel faced the venue for the hotly-anticipated Sweetwater 420 Festival including a restaurant with a bar. What we learned the moment we stepped into our hotel room at 7:45 p.m. was that this restaurant, Dos Bocas, closes at 9 p.m. and so we rushed downstairs to get our meal and drinks. This was turning out to be not as relaxed as we had hoped it would be. At 8 p.m. we were seated by a relatively friendly hostess, and within 5 minutes we had a generous basket of chips and salsa from a person who was not our server. We waited for 15 minutes to place a drink order until my husband asked a young man walking by if he was a server and if we could place a drink order, please. The young man turned out to be the shift manager and was very friendly and promptly took our drink order. By 8:20, I ordered water and my husband ordered a draft Tecate, and we also ordered our meals. My water appeared within 2 minutes but my husband’s beer, poured by the bartender, sat on the bar for 10 minutes. Watching the time tick by, it was well after 8:30, no beer, and I watched multiple people attempt to enter the restaurant but the hostess and busser informed all new guests that the kitchen was closed. No one was treated with special privilege. Extreme prejudice to all who tried to enter, including an exhausted young mother holding a newborn while her husband steered a toddler in a stroller. A table who came in after we got their food before ours. I watched the busser girl sitting and chatting with the hostess, and other staff were preoccupied with their phones. I watched a group of festival attendees come in shortly after us get seated, only to walk out in frustration, which is what we should have also done. My husband finally got his first beer at 8:35, which he quickly drank. My gumbo arrived at 8:45 but no meal for my husband. The young man who was hastily assigned to be our server by the shift managed then announced there was a mixup, asked my husband what did he order, and it was at that moment when when my husband told the server to forget it and just get him one more beer because we are closing out. The only highlight of this abysmal experience was that the server only charged us for one beer, not even my too-spicy-to-eat gumbo was charged. This restaurant needs a complete overhaul of staff, and there was a missed opportunity by hotel and restaurant management to not plan to stay open an extra hour to accommodate the music festival attendees arriving late from the airport. P.S. the chips and salsa were OK.

Rude

By Eaglepack |

We had just checked into the hotel and were walking around and seeing what was on site when we walked into the restaurant. When we sat at the bar the bartender said for future reference we don't open until 4PM. It was 3:58PM. Seriously? I got up to leave and my wife asked to stay. So we did, had one drink, left and went to the bar across the street.

First time at Dos Bacos

By ATLchick4life |

I went last night for dinner with a friend, excited about it since saw them featured on Fox 5 news as a new up and coming spot. It is in the former Legal Seafood location so I was also curious about the space being redesigned. Dos Bacos means "two mouths" and their menu is Cajun and Tex-Mex so I was interested in seeing how these two cuisines could be meshed. Got there and there was a private event downstairs and we went upstairs. I sat at the bar for 12 minutes without the bartender acknowledging me. Finally he tossed a menu on the counter top and then he walked away saying he would be right back. No water, no chips and salsa, nada! He comes back and then asks what I would like I asked for Chardonnay...he went to get it, stops to close out another guest and his computer locks up. My Chardonnay is still at the other end of the bar. A manager walks by and says hello and I explain that I am waiting for my drink, which he then goes to retrieve. He did apologize but the bartender appeared to be clueless. We then are seated at a table next to their outdoor seating and they leave the door open. It was pretty breezy out and all the guests seated outdoors came inside due to the temperature and the server left the door wide open. My guest got up and closed it 4 times because they kept leaving it open. Finally, we moved tables to the opposite side of the restaurant. We had several dishes (gumbo, red beans/rice, jambalaya, and blackened catfish) and they were ok. I will say the gumbo was a HUGE serving for the price and the catfish was probably the best out of the 4 dishes. The jambalaya was not very good and was served as rice with chicken and shrimp on the side of the plate versus being all mixed in- -it was also extremely dry. The table next to us had po boy sandwiches that looked good! Our server was very nice and the atmosphere is fairly casual. I was not impressed with the decor upstairs however. It just didn't look very "finished" and the straight back wooden chairs are not very comfy at all. Don't know that I need to go again with all the other options around but they do have a sauteed Chicken Zydeco dish with a lemon pepper sauce that sounded very good. As I left I walked past a group of servers hovering in a space visible to the entire restaurant eating something with their hands. I stopped and asked for a bag and the server finished putting food in her mouth and then handed me the bag. I couldn't believe it. The majority of the staff are pretty young and may not realize how unprofessional doing something like that is. I hoped to have a great experience at this new spot but it did not meet my expectations and disappointed me in many ways from the beginning to the end.

Laissez les Bons Temps Roulez! Tex-Mex/Cajun

By BostonBon |

We were at a nearby conference and were desperate to find outside food options. My husband found this place and it was a short walk from hotel central. What a find it was! Evidently, it's fairly new and we were thrilled to have stumbled upon it. I must say the Seafood Cobb Salad was one of the best I've ever had. It was so fresh and huge. My husband opted for the Shrimp Po' Boy and loved it as well. Our server, Michael, was terrific and both the manager, Michael Fundora, and general manager, Chris Gunn, stopped by our table to ensure we were enjoying our meals. We were delighted to share our positive feedback with all of them. Whether you live in the area or are in town for business/visit, this place is definitely worth the trip!

Delicious food

By Ellebag |

Well worth a visit. One of the better places to eat in Atlanta. Fast service and not over attentive. The house margarita is delicious the frozen one is a face freezer !! The servings are big. We enjoyed both times we went for dinner. We walked across the park at night and it was safe around 7pm to walk.

A must if staying downtown!

By Msmattox |

We stumbled upon this hidden gem while walking to a different restaurant and decided to stop here instead. We were so happy that we did. We had a party of 8 and had no issues with being seated. All of the staff were friendly and we enjoyed our visit. I got the EL POLLO DIABLO with mixed vegetables and it was delicious. My friend got the nachos as an entrée and it was huge, highly suggest sharing if you are getting it as an entrée. It was also delicious. Don't skip out on this restaurant if you are near the GWCC or Mercedes Benz.

Worth skipping

By Chris V |

The food was ok, my family and I were really intrigued to try a Mexican/Creole restaurant but were ultimately not impressed. The staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing, though our waitress was very nice and polite, and it was hard to even find because the cantina downstairs was closed and there was no sign where to go. If it wasn’t for another group also looking for the same thing none of us would have been eating there. There are plenty of other places to go and eat so I suggest maybe trying those.

Within walking distance

By MsMoody713 |

Hmm...tex-mex and cajun at the same restaurant. Well, I must say I wasn't impressed with the food but the salsa was the bomb! Oh, let me not forget the margarita...the bomb also! I ate here because it was very close to my hotel and I saw tex-mex thinking it was like the tex-mex here in Houston.

Delicious food and fun atmosphere.

By Steven L |

Fun atmosphere Well balanced meals Blend of Mexican and Cajun Creative cocktails Close to the aquarium and world of coke-it gave us some time away from the high energy of the aquarium. The staff were super nice and the food came out really quick. Peanut friendly menu but definitely ask before ordering.

Delicious Food, Good Service

By JillClardy |

On a chilly, rainy day, we stopped in for a late lunch and really enjoyed the meal. My husband had gumbo which was spicy and filling, and I had a quesadilla. Our server was very pleasant and attentive.

New favorite

Love this place! The entire menu is awesome. Great atmosphere and location. Price is good too. Our new favorite. Waitress China is the best!

Great food, great service

By riggs2257 |

We were in Atlanta for our grand daughters cheer competition, the restaurant was extremely busy. Our server Charleston was excellent . He made certain that everything was prepared as ordered, went out of his way to insure the children were happy with their meals. Food was great at a reasonable price. Will definitely eat here again the next time we are in Atlanta.

Tasty and nice decor

By El Heifer |

We had a shrimp scampi and blackened Cajun catfish. The menu is a bit limited, but the decor and service were great.

Try the jambalaya.

By CaylaElise |

Average food, service left something to be desired. We were prompt seated but not acknowledged afterwards for nearly 10 minutes. The jambalaya starter and kids quesadilla were good. The Monterey salad was basic, but a good portion. The chicken was undercooked. The food came and the table did not have silverware. We caught the hostess’ attention, but she sat two tables before bringing the silverware. Maybe a post-holiday mishap.

Great location and good food

By Spydermn |

First off the location is great. Minutes walk from the Georgia Aquarium and Coke Museum. Since you are already paying a ton for parking, might as well walk. The food was very good. We had a little bit of everything but the redfish was a standout! The reason I gave 4 rather than 5 stars is that the service was just slow. Not bad, I fact our waitress was very sweet. BUT the kitchen was slow, the bar was slow, service response was slow. Maybe it was an off day. All in all I would go their again

Excellent Tacos

By Amanda R |

I stopped by for lunch and ordered the grilled chicken tacos. While waiting for them, I overindulged in the complementary chips and salsa. Great salsa. The tacos came three on the plate with just-right spicy beans and rice as sides. Very friendly, attentive staff.

Falcons game

By Michelle R |

We decided to stay close to our hotel and we definitely made the right decision. Evan, the bartender, also waited on us. He was excellent. We had the tacos and they were great. The margaritas he mixed for us were outstanding! We also had the tres leche and it was one of the best we’ve tried. Not too soggy, just right! Definitely recommend this restaurant and would get bar service from Evan!

We were at the hotel close to

By Deborah Alana |

We were at the hotel close to the restaurant, was conviniente to go. We love Mexican food and we go straight to the nachos. The guacamole side was disappointing, you can notice that was made on rush. The food is not so tasty but it’s ok. We loved the margarita though! The decoration is nice, the staff was ok too.
