Evening Out with Family

By Charles G |

Nice neighborhood restaurant. Crowded for a Monday evening. Had to wait for table. Enjoyed Devil's Kriek, a sort of sour beer. Sandwich I had was a little skimpy. Pizzas were very expensive but large. Service was fast and courteous. Visiting from out of town.

Good beer and pizza BUT

By lalalamarra11 |

We are so excited to have this in our neighborhood. But this is my $10 classic Caesar salad. Some romaine croutons. Way overpriced.

Great pizza!

By RBro2014 |

We were a group of six- five adults, a child and a puppy. We had a nice table outside and ordered two pizzas, drinks and a BLT for the kiddo. The pizza was great, especially the truffle shuffle (mushroom cheese combination).

Pints and pies on woodstock

By dan raphael |

What's not to like--fresh delicious pizza and 16 or so craft beers. When Double Mountain took over this space, getting the high heat pizza oven was a priority. Double Mountain was already a well-established go to in Hood River, with their brews on tap all around Portland. Quality pizzas and sandwiches here. Last time were about 6 IPAs on tap. The room is fairly wide open, and not that attractive, unfinished ceiling, concrete floor--but ambiance comes after food and beer. Service here is excellent

Elevated Fresh Brewpub Food

By Vicki E |

This is a great place for a pizza, snacks, and beverage of your choice. We were a party of 7 hungry people and everything we ate was amazing. We started with the pretzel bites, caprese salad, and cheesy bread. We devoured 2 large pies- the truffle shuffle (my personal favorite) and the seasonal Caprese (also amazing - very fresh). They have an impressive cocktail and beer list. If you want a nonalcoholic choice - the root beer is awesome.

Wonderful I P A

By Ron P |

Stopped in on memorial day and it was not crowded. Been here before and the waiting time was about 20 minutes. We were happy to get right in this time. The IPA that we had was extraordinarily good and that complemented the large thin crust pepperoni pizza. We were with two of our grandchildren and they demolished the pizza. The one piece I got was delicious but what to do with a 14-year-old grandson that ate half the large pizza! We will return!

Great food and beer

By Samuel G |

We love this place. They serve fabulous pizzas and offer a large selection of outstanding beers. It’s fun, it’s funky (they either have vinyl records or live music playing), and the wait staff is great.

IPA with a Truffle Shuffle

By BogDogs |

The beers were outstanding, there is something for everyone on tap. I had the Hop Lava, a bitter IPA that will snap you awake. My friend had a Dry Cider which was gentle enough for her delicate stomach. Our pizza was known as the truffle shuffle, a white cheese with simple herbs. The staff was quick and courteous. The Woodstock location has outdoor seating when desired.

Great menu!

By Ron P |

Pizzas were surprisingly excellent! Try the arugula on top of the pizza for a special treat. We were there on a Friday night very busy but worth the wait. The beers/ales were OK. We wished the IPA Randall knife was available but it wasn't. Our waitress was Sadie and she was very nice and helpful in taking our order and making a pizza available for one of our kids extra fast.

Pizza From the Northeast in the Northwest

By DT705 |

My son told me there was a place in Portland that had pizza that tasted just like we loved back in the Northeast. I was somewhat skeptical of this claim. Sure enough, Double Mountain has brought the taste from far off New Haven to Stumptown. We had the very simple yet classic Margherita and it tasted like it does back home. There was just enough charring on the bottom and crust to give you that 'well done' taste. The sauce was a little sweet, but was offset by the fresh basil. And the mozzarella was just perfect. My son enjoyed a few of their fine ales and I went with the Farmhouse. They were the perfect accompaniment to our pie. Our server was very energetic and kept us entertained. This place is great stop for any beer or pizza lover, but if you are from the Northeast and you are feeling a little home sick for the tastes of home, this place is a godsend.

My son’s favorite Portland pizza!

By DonnieOshkosh |

Our son was visiting us from New York over the holidays & we took him to Double Mountain for supper on Dec 26. Our service was very good- we were greeted & seated right away & ordered shortly after that. My son & I each ordered a beer (nice selection) & my wife ordered their home-brewed Ginger ale, which is excellent. My wife & I shared a large sausage, onion, & mushroom pizza & our son had the smaller pizza- pepperoni. We REALLY enjoyed our pizza. The sausage was ground up rather fine-as were the pieces of onion & mushrooms- just the way we like it. Just the right amount of sauce too! And we liked the crunchy edges from their wood fired pizza oven! My son said it was probably his favorite Portland pizza- & he’s had quite a few! Our bill, before tip, was $69.50, which included 3 beers, the Ginger Ale, & the 2 pizzas. We ended up bringing several slices home too. My wife & I have been here several times for lunch and highly recommend Double Mountain. Check out the picture of the pizza we shared.

Great pizza and salad

By Anne S |

Another great place in Portland that has a LONG wait. I loved the food, especially the pizza with fresh heirloom tomatoes. However, I don’t like having to wait for food and it seems to be rather common in Portland, hence the 4 stars. Even after we ordered our food, it took at least sat half hour to get our salads. The children were getting cranky!

Portland Pizza and Pints

By ReefWatch |

Huge craft beer selection with plenty of ales compliment wood fired pizzas made with fresh, local ingredients. There is a good amount of outdoor seating and it is dog and kid friendly. Lots of locals in the area eating, drinking, and shopping. Street parking was available nearby.

Great neighborhood watering hole

By Sam DeLiso |

Great spot on the corner with a large dining room and bar area, wooden interior gives it a warm, open atmosphere with high ceilings and plenty of windows. Quite a few of their brews on tap (~15) of decent variety and a standard food menu with sandwiches and pizza we regretted not ordering as soon as we some one brought fresh out the oven. My meatball sub was what you'd expect, well sauced, accompanied by chips... I was satisfied. Coworker ordered the Reuben on marble rye, looked delicious and he reported the same. We had several beers, including both of their nitro brews, one being a pale and the other an Irish stout... quite the difference in flavor yet equally crafted with care. Tried the Hop Lion and Brut IPA as well, both enjoyable as far as IPAs go. The service was excellent, all bartenders very courteous and attentive to our thirst. Glad we stumbled upon this neighborhood attraction, we will definitely be back to wet our whistles again soon! Best, ~S

Great Place

By gary c |

We stopped in for a pizza to take home. We all got one of their famous endemic brews and they were great!!!! The pizza later on was excellent as it was mushroom and onion. Inside the place was really bustling and lots of people enjoying beers and food!!! It's actually in Woodstock and the neighborhood is really cool!!! A nice place to get a real taste of the Portland culinary and brew scene!!!!

Cool vibe, good beer

By hisons |

My brother brought me here and we had a couple drinks. The Moscow Mule was good, and the beer selection is awesome. The server offered me a taste of a couple beers when I had questions about them. A band was playing, and the whole place had an overall comfortable, cool vibe.

Good selection of beer but slow service

By robert15065 |

The restaurant was very busy, but I only waited for a minute and was seated at at an inside table and given a menu. I waited about 25 minutes to place an order (are service people trained to immediately look away if you make eye contact or wave?) To their credit, the beer I ordered came almost immediately, the food a few minutes later. The pastrami sandwich I ordered was tasty but was soggy on the bottom. Beer selection 4/5 Food 3/5 Service before taking order 1/5 Service after 4/5

Tasty brews, friendly service

By Karyatissa |

We arrived from the East Coast fairly late and went in hoping to get a late dinner. We weren't disappointed at all with friendly staff that didn't seem to mind us coming in late. The food and beer were tasty and we got some good recommendations for other places to visit during our trip. Sure enough, our server was at one of the places he recommended two days later.

Spectacular crafted cocktails

By PegnGeo |

We stopped here for hors d'oeuvres and Cocktails. We were in need of a place that was dog friendly, since we had two dogs in tow. The cocktails that they prepared were off the hook - they even make their own tonic for gin and tonics. We also enjoyed the olive platter. Would love to come back for a full meal.

Brew Pub

By Jason D |

Really nice little taproom. Pizza was really good. Sandwich was fresh, great flavor. Offered hot sauces including Aardvark and Tapatio. Was playing live music on a Thursday night. Fairly subtle guitarist not overwhelming the whole place. Server was awesome. Fair amount of selections but several IPA’s which caters to my personal taste. Also had 4 ciders on tap including a dry and sweet. Only draw back was selection on the menu and also no fries food including fries because they don’t have a fryer.

Very nice taproom with great beer

By WIA2014 |

Double Mountain Brewery - Portland Taproom, Oregon: Double Mountain Brewery was founded in 2007 in Hood River, Oregon. In August 2016 they opened a second taproom in the Woodstock neighborhood or Portland, and this is the place that I visited. Their mission is t "make great beer for craft beer fans". My visit was very brief with time for only one beer but the A-Zone IPA that I tried was excellent. It is a very bitter and hoppy beer with a crisp clean finish supported by pine and citrus notes over a malt backbone. Double Mountain uses mostly West coast ingredients, sourcing their Pilsner malt from British Columbia and most of their hops from the nearby Yakima valley. They operate a 20bbl brewing system and do not filter the beer but allow it to cold age for 2 weeks before serving, a time period which is much longer than typically used but allows the beer to settle and clear naturally while the full flavor develops. The Woodstock taproom is a very nice spacious building with nice wood accents. When I visited, we sat outside at one of several patio table and enjoyed the warm weather. Although I did not sample the food, their menu looked good and I have heard or read several good reviews. I look forward to a return visit or to a visit to their Hood River taproom. @doublemountainbrewery The Traveling Beer Snob Beer CraftBeer.com CraftBeerPi Portland, Oregon Orego

Pleasant Pub

By BnThrDnThat |

We had been to the establishment that Double Mountain replaced a couple years ago. We could not believe the improvement the new owners have made. They have turned this corner location in Woodstock into a large modern restaurant and taproom. We stopped for lunch and had a BLT, Tuna Melt and a Jersey Sub. They were delicious especially when savored with glasses of Black Irish stout. We will be back for the pizza. They smelled great.

Nice place

By _jakevanwinkle |

I went with a group of friends to check out Double Mountain. The wait was a little long for a table, but it was a holiday weekend just after dinner hour. We were really just there for the beer, but one of the guys got a sandwich that looked quite tasty. The service was on point, the bathrooms were clean, and the place really quieted down after 9:30. The beer selection is good - I'd love to come back to try some more.

Great food and drink

By sonie s |

I've been here for both dinner and lunch with friends and everyone loves it. Their thin-crust pizza is normally cooked "charred" on the bottom but if you ask them not to "char" it they don't. Good pizza and all the sandwiches I've seen look great. My husband likes their IPA but I'm a wine drinker and we were both happy.

Excellent pizza. Something for all ages.

By EHBTexas |

Pizza was outstanding thin crust with perfect texture and flavor. Truffle shuffle a favorite, but pepperoni very good, others happy with the Magherita. Meatball sandwiches got great reviews. Salads fresh and very good. Carrots available as side dish for kids. Beers on tap were a hit, also a flavorful nuanced Root Beer. Limited wine selection. Good service, kid friendly. Busy before 5 on Sunday.

LOVE the Heirloom Tomato Pie!!!

By G612 |

Always friendly, awesome beers, great neighborhood place! MY FAVORITE PIZZA of all time is the Heirloom Tomato pizza only available for a limited time in the summer at Double Mountain. Juicy, tasty, great crust, it's just a delectable treat, always look forward to this season at DMB!

Another nice lunch- and kudos to hostess Emily!

By DonnieOshkosh |

Another very nice lunch at Double Mountain. First of all, we were greeted warmly by Emily, the hostess there. We've been there so often she recognizes us and is always very pleasant. My guess is that she's been there for several years and it's always nice to see a familiar face! My wife and I split a Jersey Sub sandwich- lots of good things in it. I had a Japanese lager [Jiro] and my wife had iced tea. They also make their own Ginger Ale and Root Beer which my wife enjoys. Service was excellent, as always, and food and drink very good. Our bill, before tip, was $24.50. We come here reasonably often and recommend Double Mountain. Don't forget their pizzas- see my December '23 review!

Lunch in Portland

By sleepyhead8822 |

Double Mountain starred in Hood River opened up in Portland near Reed College a few months ago. Some of the best damn pizza on the west coast of the USA! Great choice of beers on tab. The Portland location opens at 11:00 am Goran early lunch. Big garage doors open to let the sunlight in on nice days! 100% guarantee you'll love this place! I prefer the Jersey, bought two of the same today

Crispy yummy pizza!!!

By blk07 |

Stopped in here for lunch after hiking around mt hood. I ordered a beer and pizza. It didnt disappoint! I got a 10in mushroom and sausage and onion. It was a thin crust and crispy!! So yummy. Not too much sauce not to much cheese. Sausage had a lot flavor!! Cant wait to go back and get more pizza!!!

Cool vibe and delicious sours

By Shrinkme |

Always a good vibe here and delicious pizza and great sours What else can I say ? Am stoked to have this brewery in Portland ! Crunchy crispy pizza with a rotating seasonal pie and tons of beers on tap and cool staff makes this a great brewery to hang out in

Great ambiance and pizza!

By Rebecca L |

Nice place! Great feeling inside, warm and cozy while also hip and friendly. Tons of beer options for sure. You are welcome to a sample to make sure you get the right one. Truffle pizza was to die for, oh man. We also had the salami arugula pizza and it was very good. I like the thinner crust and the pizza sauce had a good flavor. Service was fast and efficient and friendly. I'd eat here again if there weren't so many awesome places in Portland.

Disgusting

By Puente91 |

I’ve gone there today with my family to have a beer and they asked me for my ID. I showed them my ID, and they could see that I’m 27, but They told me that they wanted to see my passport. I hadn’t it with me and they told me that I couldn’t ask for a beer. I’ll never come back.

Pizza Excellence!

By Lawrence L |

A well designed dining room in a nice neighborhood. Friendly greeting and prompt seating. Drink order taken and delivered promptly. Pizza ordered...delivered with minimal wait.. Server reticent but efficient. Pizza was a delightful combination of firm crust, distinctive sauce and the exactly correct amount of cheese. Pricing fair...not inexpensive but also not overpriced.

My favorite pizza every

By DStin0731 |

On our first visit to Portland, I discovered my favorite pizza ever in the Heirloom Tomato Pie. If you love tomatoes, you've got to try this. The sauce is pesto and not only is the pizza delicious it is beautiful. With a nice beer, a sunny day and outdoor seating, there's not much that could be much finer than this.

Pizza Pie like in New Haven, Ct

By Tonypose |

The pizza here is a thin crust fired at 700 degrees so they cook fast. They are really good and use fresh ingredients. There are several varieties and they come in two sizes. There are a lot of extra side dishes to choose from as well. Of course there is a bunch of beers to choose from to enjoy with the pizza. There is indoor and outdoor dining which is nice. This is a big place and can handle lots of people. The windows and doors along the side are big and can be opened during nice weather. It is family and dog friendly here. Sunday afternoon saw a bunch of both having pizza. Good service as well.

Very poor service

By Nick Z |

The beers are ok and the food is decent, I just can't get over poor service. I've been here four times and it's been 3 out of 4 poor service. The one time I got good service e was in the middle of the afternoon when it was dead. I'm not coming back, sorry, there are way too many places I'd rather give my money too. I've been here over 30 min and I still haven't got to put a food order in.

Great pizza

But get there early as the wait is long. Professional service, great salads and pizza.Cannot wait to go back.

It's All About the Beer (and Pizza)

By William L |

I used to have to drive to Hood River for a Devil's Kriek and pizza. YES! Now its just across town. They did a great job re-inventing the previous bar. It is comfortable and looks great. Wait staff was right on the mark, a surprise just being two weeks open. And yes, the had Devil's Kriek to go as well as on tap. Maybe my new home sweet home?

Very good brewpub in the Woodstock neighborhood

By Greg W |

I visited here for the first time for lunch with friends. They have a wide selection of their beers on tap and bottled. The food menu is limited to an array of brick oven pizzas, sandwiches and salads. We all had sandwiches, which were good, if not remarkable, but I am anxious to try the pizzas next visit. Table service by Brian was very good.

Fun stop

By BOBandBECKY |

We stopped in to check it out. Good beer met some nice folks. They have a friendly staff and they are willing to go the second mile.

Great pizza and good atmosphere

By Robert G |

This place is a welcome addition in Woodstock. It has very legit pizza by portland standards and the taproom atmosphere is good for all ages. Been there five times and plan to keep going for the pizza!

Small pizza is quite large

By GeorgeTheDriver |

Went for a retirement lunch. There were 10 of use and over half ordered the small size pizza. The menu lists the pizza's as 10" or 16". The small pizza had to be over 12" as almost everyone took half their pizza home when they left. I had the hot pastrami sandwich which was quite good although I would have preferred if came with fries instead of the potato chips. The chips are good, just not what I expected. Being a brewery they have a good selection of beers.

Service Needs Improvement

By Melaia K |

We went as a casual lunch with kiddos. We sat down, water was brought to the table, my husband had an ant floating in his glass, so naturally, we all check our glasses and the batch of glasses had clearly not gotten completely clean; black flecks floating in every cup, but not in the kid cups. The server passed us off to another server, we get our meal (decent, but not extraordinary food) and then I watch her talking about us and, "Everyone needed a new glass." We were perfectly friendly, our kids were well behaved, but we were treated like, "Those Customers" and that's unfortunate. Go somewhere else where asking for decent service doesn't get you poorer service.

My wife uses this place as bribery!

By Patrick B |

I love this place, both in Hood River and in Woodstock. I love their beers and their salads and their Truffle Shuffle pizza. So, when we do our weekly dance class, my wife let’s me pick dinner afterwards. We can’t always do dinner out but, when we do this is the spot! So, good and great staff too!

Disappointing menu

By BlueHenFlyer |

Replaced a series of perfectly good restaurants with a place which really doesn't do it food-wise. This is a great disappointment as the neighborhood needs a nice place to grab a sit-down lunch. Drinking with the Reedies isn't really my thing.

Great addition to Woodstock

By Deborah M |

Visit friends in this neighborhood often and this place is a GREAT addition to the ‘hood. Brewery yes, but huge space, friendly service and great food. Pizza is New Haven style and was surprised at how good it was, since this isn’t a pizza place. Menu is pretty varied, so something for everyone.

Pastrami to die for!

By sjdesrv |

A beer and lunch after a stressful morning. I had the Rory & Daniel's Porter 6.5% ABV, 52 BU. I'm not a fan of the heavy hoppy IPA's that are popular in the Northwest. This porter was rich and tasty, a sipping beer not made for gulping down. The hot pastrami and Swiss with sauerkraut and 1,000 Island dressing on a marble rye was the best I have ever had. The bread was fresh, the pastrami wasn't to fatty. It was finished off with a dill pickle and kettle chips. Service was quick and they checked back without being overbearing or rushing me. I will definitely return! The only drawback is the limited menu. There are vegetarian items but not vegan.
