Doubletake is on the first floor of the Beverly Hills Kimpton on Wilshire Avenue. The hotel and this restaurant/bar were just renovated and its a fun place to visit. Much of this restaurant and the hotel lobby have been redone in a kind of movie theme with lots of lights, images, and even books reminiscent of Hollywood's golden age. The restaurant itself is an unusual concept, part bar, part game room, part restaurant. The bar prides itself on being what they describe as the west LA modern bar scene. I'm a wine drinker, but found several nice offerings. There is the bar area closest to the hotel library with everything from the bar itself, to longer high tables, to a more casual seating area. There is a more traditional restaurant area just beyond that. The menu is not elaborate, but focuses on fresh takes using locally sourced ingredients. They have small plates, which complement the bar area, but would also be good if you're not that hungry, and a half dozen or so larger plates. I particularly liked the deviled egg appetizer and the chicken entree. I also ordered avocado fries, which sounded decadent but ended up being a little richer than I wanted. They have a lot of vintage games all around the restaurant, including a pool table and old Skeeball arcade machine. I was staying at the hotel and it was fun to watch adults enjoy themselves on these games in the evening, and then children doing so in the morning around breakfast. They also had a Scrabble game in case you want a more intellectual pursuit, as well as another vintage game that seems to have been rescued from an older arcade. This restaurant just re-opened and I'm not sure they or the customers quite have the concept down and there were a few issues with service, but overall I liked this place and particularly liked the whimsical design and inclusion of old games. If you are staying at the Palomar hotel, there really isn't another restaurant within a 10-minute walk, although there are a handful of restaurants near the Hammer museum just beyond that westward on Wilshire Blvd. All in all, an unusual (in a good way) offering with a creative if not extensive menu.

Double Take is a restaurant in the Kimpton Palomar hotel. We’re fans of the Kimpton brand having stayed at a number of their hotels all over the U.S. They’re a great boutique hotel chain with benefits you get used to, such as the complimentary wine hour at 5pm. We were here for brunch, far too early to take advantage of the free wine hour, but to be fair we didn’t realize when we picked the restaurant that it was located in a Kimpton…so walking in to the lobby was a pleasant and familiar surprise. I had the egg sandwich choosing biscuit for the bread, with white cheddar cheese and no the sausage. It came with hash browns and a salad. The biscuit was perfectly crunchy on the outside and fine on the inside but seemed like it may have been reheated. (Am I the only one who has a sixth sense for when biscuits have been reheated?) It tasted good but the cheese needed more of a presence. The hash browns looked great. You’ll definitely salivate looking at them…They were tasty on the inside though, perhaps, a little more greasy than I wanted. There also wasn’t salt and pepper at the table which I definitely needed for these.. My wife had the Grain Bowl which we had to send back as it came topped with parmesan cheese…my wife doesn’t eat dairy and the menu didn’t list parmesan as an ingredient. I’m a big fan of menus that list all the visible ingredients of a dish…so unfortunately we had to send it back to get them to redo it without it. The dish looked beautiful either way, the mushrooms were delicious, but in the end it was very barley heavy…the other ingredients needed more of a presence to add more flavor to this dish. It definitely wasn’t busy when we were there so i guess brunch, at least on a Saturday around noon isn’t so much of a thing…but they did only have one person working there handling the coffee counter and waiting tables so service, in particular when we had to alert them about the Grain Bowl was a bit slow. On the plus side there’s all kinds of fun games to play in adjacent rooms, including a full sized pool table and skeeball, that are all free to use, so you’re bound to have a good time when you’re there.

Had a couple of wonderful meals here. Shy was a fantastic and friendly server, along with another woman whom has worked at Kimpton for 20 years and got my day started right every morning with coffee and a croissant as I rushed out the door for appointments.

Ate breakfast here and it was VERY good, just bacon, eggs, some potatos w/onion, all delicious, but they were asking $19 for this! Luckily we had some vouchers to defray the cost. Once again, VERY good, but expensive.

Once again I found myself in the comfort of quality food and drink, served by expert staff. There, I could enjoy the Oscars in peace. If those movie industry biggies knew a good time, they'd come to the Double Take to celebrate.

This restaurant is located in the Kimpton Palomar Restaurant and I assume is mostly frequented by the hotel guests, since other dining options would require about a 5-10 minute walk or driving. The restaurant has a modern black/white décor with some industrial looking accents. I recall some polished stainless steel. The dinner menu is somewhat eclectic, everything is a la carte. We ordered the flatiron steak and salmon with quinoa and butternut squash. Both were excellent. My companion also had an alcoholic beverage, was happy with that as well. Service was good. Next morning we came down for breakfast. Excellent coffee. Porcelain coffee cups are available, but also paper cups with lids for those who want their coffee to go. Both regular and decaf are available, as well as hot water and different types of tea. The beverage is self-serve, which is nice, you get a refill when you want it. They also serve breakfast. Again, the breakfast fare was somewhat unusual, at least for me. My companion had egg sandwich which was what looked like fried eggs on top of toast with some salad on the side. Nice and fresh looking. I ordered the more exotic fare - lamb sausages with eggs and gravy and I think some cheese and toast. This was very rich and filling. Overall a pleasant experience, interesting and tasty food, good service.

This is a Cool place to have dinner. Attentive server and Cool surroundings. The food was avrage, but they were very helpful making the food allergyfriendly. Has gamezone right outside the restaurant.

We booked our stay at the hotel Palomar based on proximity to restaurants and walkability but found it even more convenient to stay and eat at Double Take. The food was great and the atmosphere is so neat! I definitely recommend checking this place out.

Small menu but all the items were well prepared and thought out. Breakfast service is casual and so are the other meals. Plenty to eat and drink

The restaurant is located in Palomar hotel. Nothing special about the restaurant but it is cosy, moderately priced, with good food and selection of wines.

Small restaurant in our hotel so convenient when we checked in late. Not a big menu and a bit pricey but very good.

If you are staying at the Palomar Hotel or driving past, stop by the new Double Take restaurant. The Skirt steak was amazing. Great staff, great Chef!!

Part of the Kimpton Palomar this is a great little restaurant particularly if you don't fancy going out and about. The menu is small but the food and service is excellent.

This place, located inside the Kimpton Palomar Hotel (separately reviewed), is more an extended lounge than a regular service restaurant but the food it serves is very good. It’s an excellent choice for guests at the hotel who don’t want to go out. You order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. That’s the extent of the table-side service, but it’s handled promptly and the staff are very friendly. Coffee and tea are self serve all day. The sitting and lounge areas are newly decorated and very nice and comfortable (as is the adjoining hotel lobby) with large screen TV and various game tables, including a pool table and shuffleboard. There is also a full bar. At our one dinner and two breakfasts here our family ordered the Seafood Cobb, the Burger, Avocado Toast, a Shrimp and Humus Plate, Brioche French Toast, Egg Sandwich, Baked Eggs and Merguez, and Two Eggs any style. Everything was nicely prepared and presented and each of us enjoyed our food. We would return to eat here if in the area. The hotel, however, is another story (separately reviewed). We will not likely return there.

I was staying at the Palomar and went to this restaurant downstairs for breakfast. I had a traditional 2 egg breakfast and it was perfect. The coffee bar was great. They even had iced coffee and syrups! I would definitely go back.

Had a first date there and was pleasant surprised. They have cozy little areas that is just perfect for a private convo. If you are looking for a craft cocktail, this is the place. Game room is cool if you have a group.

A great place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. The decor is lovely, the menu varied and the staff friendly and competent. There are many cozy areas in here to sit in, as well as TV's to watch some games. The food is very good, and we love the atmosphere.

You thought you knew the ultimate bar experience, but not until you've been to the Double Take. Brad and Sarah make excellent tiki drinks specific to your personality. And they know what you want to eat upon first glance. Our favorite bar in LA, accept no substitutes.

DoubleTake is a secret treasure. What a delight - the drinks. The food. The staff. The atmosphere. Just had so much fun going solo. Everyone is so welcoming and warm. Sarah, the lead bartender, made 2 of my top 5 drinks for 2018. How is someone so competent also very humble and kind-hearted. Sarah welcomed me immediately and made me feel very at home. The food was very tasty, great delivery/appearance and good quality. Cannot wait to stop by again! 5 of 5 Stars!
Nice atmospher, average quality food
Restaurant was also nice, though the biscuits that were used for breakfast were as dry as cardboard. I don't mind paying $12 for the equivalent of a fast food sandwich, but hope that it has more quality to it than that. Bar food (small plates) were ok as well, though would pass on the ceviche again (didn't taste authentic to me)
