Seriously Delicious

By Wurbur |

For many years, Dough has been a priority stop for us whenever we're in San Antonio. We had another supper that couldn't be topped this weekend at the newer downtown location. Dough's house-made burrata was presented as a beautiful package, firm on the outside and deliciously creamy inside, surrounded by shockingly flavourful cherry tomatoes (in January!). We split the seasonal salad (incl., pecans, goat cheese, maple vinaigrette) and the pizza special (prosciutto, arugula, roasted butternut squash, and more), happily eating more than we ought to have, but every bite a treat. Oh. And then there was polenta cake. The centrepiece at Dough is the Neapolitan pies: the pizza truly is a notch above--because of the ingredients? the oven? the techniques? the interesting combinations? I don't know which of these in what proportions make up the magic at Dough, but it is a great pie every time.

Overpriced and under cooked

By ASAPNorthCarolina |

We were drawn to Dough because I eat Gluten free and saw that they made fresh gf pizza dough. The problem was that they had their process to cook their pizza and its take it or leave it My husband's pizza was practically raw in the middle and black around the edges. He loves pizza and didn't eat but a piece or two The other issue was price. My Gf 12" pizza was 23.00, and they charged $5 to add some pepperoni Then they charged $3 for using a card..an ATM not credit. I would never recommend them

Went to Dough downtown for

By sagumdr |

Went to Dough downtown for lunch. When we arrived the hostess told us it would be a 30 min wait even though they had 6 open tables. We patiently waited while these tables went unfilled. After a 20 min wait we were seated. The service was very slow. We ordered the burrata and a margarita pizza. The food was excellent! Great mix of flavors on the pizza. If you go, try not to be seated in the room with all the windows as it was so loud that it took away from the dining experience.

Delicious Sicilian-style Pizza and more...

By MRTebo |

Delicious Sicilian-style thin-crust pizza, local beer on draft and a wine selection. Vegetarian options as well as many options for carnivores! Attentive server, fast service. Really nice chill environment. Recommended.

Prefer it to the original

By MeghanAnnRose |

We love Dough, especially this location. The vibe is so much better. If you go, get the burrata! I recommend the fior di late.

Super Pizza

By Turner T |

The pizza is better than we expected and we had high expectations! The service and atmosphere were on point and the drink options have something for everyone.

Absolutely phenomenal

By George B |

This place ROCKS for lunch! Food and service exceed all expectations. We let the waiter order for us. He choose all the specials, Burrata Bar, Insalata Di Cesare and Carbonara Pizza. Seriously over ate, oh well, what’s for dinner?

Authentic Italian!

By Marie M |

Had been craving some decent Italian pizza for a while, and found this place. I ordered a pizza prosciutto and my boyfriend got a meat lover(?). Both were delicious and tasted like in Italy! Our waiter was friendly and efficient, however he seemed a bit stressed and did not ask if we wanted any dessert and just gave us the check.

Unexpectedly good

By Julia Spinoza |

Went there with my family after christimas and the hole experience was great, the service was great!! We ordered a burrata as starter and it was as good as the pizza, the pizza was very really italian!! Really good, definitely going back when in San Antonio

Loved

By We5lovetotravel92 |

Excellent for many reasons. The food was awesome. Do spring for the burrata. It may seem a bit pricy but it was worth it! Our family of four shared the burrata and two pizzas and still had leftovers. The location near Hemisfair was really pretty. Try to snag a table with a good view. The staff were amazing. I e if the waiters, not even ours, took the time to write down some travel tips for us. I can't ssy enough good thinds about this place.

Excellent pizza & service!

By Josie679 |

We really enjoyed the homemade pizza at Dough Pizzeria Napoletana. The crust was delicious and the sauce, cheese & toppings were just right. The service was excellent as well. We also liked the location and the ambiance of the restaurant.

Fantastic authentic pizza

The service was good and the pizza was delicious! The atmosphere was nice as well. Will definitely return when visiting San Antonio.

Wonderful Birthday Dinner Excellent Service

By Rammgm |

I came to a birthday dinner at this Dough location. I had never been there. We had a waiter named Adam. If you have a chance to go, ask for Adam. Probably one of the best servers I have ever had. He was attentive yet not intrusive. We ordered the Antipasto Platter (Large). The highlight of the platter was the gorgonzola cheese. It was creamy with a good gorgonzola flavor, but it was not overpowering. You an spread it on the flat bread which is also above great when it comes to bread. There are several other parts of the platter. If you want something that is not pizza and want to share then order this. We ordered Margherita, Signature “Pork Love” and Fontina pizzas. Each of those pizzas were very good. "Very" is not a good description. The crust is what makes a pizza. I found it enjoyable. The restaurant is accommodating for the birthday cake and helping us out by giving new plates and everything along those lines. Now let's talk about the more difficult part. The parking is a little hard to find. I suggest parking at the lot at the corner of Martinez and S. Alamo. It is cheap and not very well known. You can also park anywhere close as it is an easy walk. There are tables which have the sun come directly in your eyes, but that is only at sundown. I suggest you go there. The wait staff seems to truly enjoy being there. The food is of high quality.

Try the burrata! Good food, slow service

By April1214 |

We were here with a group for lunch while in town for business meetings. The server suggested the burrata sampler, and it was amazing. It was a beautifully presented plate, and just as delicious. They make the traditional wood fired oven Neapolitan style pizzas - each of us got different pizzas and they were all very good. The only drawback was that service was very slow. We were there for lunch in between meetings and we were late getting back even though we told the server that we had time constraints when we sat down. This is definitely more of a sit and linger environment than a lunch spot. But the food is great and we would go back again - at night!

Bellisimo Bounty

By BTBELP |

Arrived early in San Antonio for a meeting that was extremely short. Staying on the Riverwalk but had heard about Dough and then discovered they had a new location. Nice walk down there, and took a seat at the bar. Had seen a review about their homemade mozzarella and burreta so decided to sample it with a nice glass of wine. Wow - I decided on the sampler, which was fantastic but too much for me - nonetheless I got to sample all 3 types of cheeses - with truffle, infused with basil, and plain - served with tomatoes and bread - what a great lunch. Watching a master craftsman making all the cheese in the kitchen and great service rounded out a very lazy and luxurious lunch.

Great service, grossly overpriced

By The World is My Oyster |

We had dinner there tonight, and as good as the reviews were, we ended up disappointed. Not everything was bad, as our server Blair was an absolute all star. She really went above and beyond to ensure we had the best dining experience. Now, the pizzas were pretty good, and the cheese appetizers was very nice, but the pricing was outrageous! Two of us shared a cheese appetizer, a pizza, and 3 drinks, and the total with tips was $140. Just completely insane for what we had.

Pizza!

By rlodan01 |

Came in during a very busy time, and found a seat at the bar. The bartender was great and took our order quickly. We both had glasses of wine that were tasty. They have a large selection, and next time I would likely order a bottle. We started with the wedge salad. My wife loves good wedge salad in this one didn't disappoint. We followed that up with the Italian pizza and It also delivered. The crust was chewy with just enough crisp around the edges. We didn't save any room for dessert! The next time we are in San Antonio, we will definitely come back here.

Great Salad and Pizza

By ALLSLC |

We ordered carry out and it was ready right on time. We had 2 meat versions (pepperoni and one that was 4 different kinds of pork) and the 4 cheese with extra artichokes on it. We also ordered a mista salad that was outstanding. Everything tasted wonderful. Highly recommend

Super nice italian style pizza

By Carlos R |

We are from italy, and we appreciated very much the food, the service and the atmosphere. Super noce people. I would recommend it!

SO GOOD

By DCDC |

Looked this up and we don't go to restaurants with less than 4 stars. We made a GREAT choice. The waitress was helpful with answering a few a questions. Before we got into a conversation the pizza was coming out piping hot. I really wish there was a pizza restaurant like this around where I live, I would frequent it. PLEASE TRY IT

Great pizza place!

By Mjlock |

Great spot- was nervous as we are from CT and it’s hard to find good pizza in other states that live up to CT Pizza but this place was great! We ended up sitting at the bar as there was a wait to sit at a table. Started with cocktails which were so tasty. Bartenders were busy making drinks all night. We had a Burrata appetizer and a mista salad which we shared- both were excellent. Pizza was great too- smaller size (either one or 2 people size) very tasty Dessert was amazing- the Nutella torte with the cookie crust is a must have! If you’re in San Antonio this is a great place!

Over Priced

By mjm341 |

The pizza was slightly burnt and way too expensive. I have had much better pizzas. I do not understand the appeal of this place. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Oh Boy, Pure Joy

By mjgwest |

Sometime my wife worries about me, when I order for her. However, this time she let me order Dough Pizzeria Napoletana’s Mozzarella appetizer. It is homemade mozzarella wrapped around burratta and mascarpone cheese with a touch of truffle oil and plated with cherry tomatoes and drizzled with a basalmic reduction. The appetizer is served with homemade garlic flatbread and is big enough for two people to enjoy. The look on my wife’s face when she took her first bite of this heavenly dish caused me to grin all over. Usually when we split a dish she always has a little bit left over for me ....... not this time. Next time, we are going to get the pizza provided we make it past the appetizers.

Our thin pizza was good enough,

By Mariah S |

Our thin pizza was good enough, but not worth driving further than our more local pizza establishment.. I think folks like the hip atmosphere here and the variety of pizza toppings is nice. The hip bar atmosphere gives a great date vibe, which is also a little more expensive than my favorite pizzeria.

Yummy burrata and pizza

By Paradise733637 |

We took the family and had delicious burrata and pizza! We got the arugula and prosciutto pizza! Both had great flavor!

Excellent Food and Service

By zx212 |

We had a small group visiting San Antonio. The hotel recommended this restaurant. It was a wonderful treat. The veggies were fresh, meat tasty and service great. The server was also very knowledgeable, making sure we ordered the right portion and different variety. It is also located near the river walk.

Great addition to the park

By John D |

Only back in SA a few hours and had to try out the recent addition since I was last here. Place is brand new, well to me anyway opened within the last year. It commands a great spot, the staff were friendly and entertaining, Christiano was superbe and a great ambassador for the product. The product needed no help fresh and excellent ingredients make great pizzas. All local if possible and as fresh as can be sought. If you are a pizza lover like me this is a must visit place, you will get what you pay for, it's not a cheap massed produced pizza joint.

Downtown San Antonio

By Judy C |

We live about a mile from the 1st Dough restaurant here in San Antonio but will be making the drive to downtown to enjoy their 2nd location again. The restaurant is at Hemisfair Park. The restaurant is lovely with a lot of windows and very nice patio. The food here is just delicious. Our favorite is the Vegetarian Fontina cheese pizza but we add pepperoni. Delicious! The restaurant serves local craft beer and has a great wine list. Salads are big enough for 2 and we are always amazed at how tasty and light the salad dressings are here. Enjoy!

Great Food, Great Staff

By JN-FoodieForever |

Update January 2023 We found ourselves back in San Antonio Texas this past weekend for an art event. After the event we stopped by one of our favorite places… Dough! Caleb was our waiter, and he was great, attentive, but not intrusive! We started with an appetizer, the burrata al tartufo. Liquid mozzarella cheese inside a mozzarella cheese ball… amazing! If you haven’t had it, it’s hard to describe… served with lots of fresh hot bread. Deelish! For the main course we ordered the sharable mista salad, which was huge and delicious. We also had the “pork love” pizza and the pizza special of the day, which was house braised beef shanks, etc. The pork love pizza was excellent! We found the sauce on the braised beef shank pizza a bit too sweet for our liking, but it was still very good! We finished this meal with a latte and cappuccino, which were da bomb! Another 5 star meal at one of our “regular” places. Get there, it’s good!

Fantastic authentic Pizza!

By Kelli L |

Great pizza from a traditional fire oven. Authentic Italian. Frozen Peach Bellini is fantastic. Kid said it washis favorite pizza ever! Great view of Yanaguana. Great service.

not on a level of napoletana

By TRAVELL LLOVER |

Not terrible but compared to other napoletana pizza restaurants through out the Western States Dough wasn't even average. They in general produce a very high quality product. Both crust and toppings here were poor.

The BEST pizza!

By CharlaVass |

This is one of the BEST restaurants we have ever been to and we highly recommend it! The service was fantastic and the food was AMAZING! We got the Pork Love pizza and the Fontina pizza and they were both fantastic and a nice blend of flavors. Our daughter also loved her pepperoni pizza. We wish we lived closer so we could go there again! It was more expensive than typical pizza places, but the quality of the food was superior. It was well worth the money!

Slow service, good food

By Miranda W |

We went at 7:30 on a Sunday evening. It was busy, but we were seated quickly. It was loud which is good when you have littles. Unfortunately ours got tired of the wait so I had to walk out. In fact it was 9pm, and we still hadn’t received our pizza so they comped it. Luckily for me, there’s an amazing park right by the restaurant. It’s designed for children of all ages and abilities. There was a splash pad, other restaurants and shops, bathrooms, etc. The food was very good. If you get the mozzarella, get one with oils and herbs as it’s pretty plain by itself.

Excellent Choice for Dining near Hemisfair Park

By Rebekajean |

Very impressed with their pizza and house made burrata truffle cheese. We dined after walking around Hemisfair Park and enjoyed the food and friendly service. It is a bit noisy inside but a fun and enjoyable atmosphere and there is seating outside as well. Wine, pizza, burrata truffle cheese with flat bread, all yummy. We will return.

Somewhat unassuming, given what you get!

By nitrous d |

I was in San Antonio for week this past weekend. Arrived mid day on Friday and wanted to get something quick so asked the Concierge what he recommended. He said "well, Dough is just across the street and has excellent food.... great pizza" Well, the place wasn't very busy, but given that it was 3pm, I didn't expect it to be. I was quickly taken to a table and my server, Michael brought me water and a menu. I really was looking for a GREAT Pepperoni Pizza. In fact, I only (thought) I wanted a small pie. The pizzas were all about 12" diameter. The Crust was whole wheat. I NEVER eat anything as healthy as whole wheat! I thought it was too late to escape so I decided to just take a bite. After all, the topping was "cupped" pepperoni and looked delicious. The cheese looked and smelled fresh... the tomato sauce was incredibly tasty. Not watery but also, not overly chunky. Well, I finished half the pie, got the rest to go for my hotel room. No problems. But I asked 'where is the little Italian chef slingin' pies back there?!" Michael said, "the owner/chef is outside on the patio. Hi name is "Douglas". What the heck... I went out to let him know how much I enjoyed his pizza, but also how pleasant his wait staff was, especially Michael! He thanked me and we discussed food around the world, He loves Toronto for Food! Oh, the staff were GREAT, The pies were TERRIFIC (came back the next day and my guest asked for something no longer on the menu - but they got it for us anyway! But come early, or with reservations 'cuz you are going to wait.... 1-2 hrs at really peak times (when we came on Saturday for dinner. We walked decided to get a take out.... Prices were good, service was GREAT and the food is beyond compare. Check it out! They are at least the 6th in San Antonio for Italian... they should be number 1!

Great Pizza and Service

By MUTGRS |

We had a couple pizzas and a salad with my family of five and everything was excellent. Good service, very attentive to our refills on a very hot day. Overall great place that would definitely recommend if over by the park.

Best in San Antonio

By mikel68 |

We've been here a couple of times. My wife and I try to eat at the bar. We've had appetizers and pizza. All have been really good. Fresh mozzarella made right there in front of you, at the bar. Drinks are good, bartenders and servers are friendly and knowledgeable. When you talk to the people that work here, they don't talk down to you or say stuff like, "oh that's my favorite..." every time. We'll be back.

Tasty, but pricey...

By Charlie M |

Picked up two pies after long day at SeaWorld. Margherita and pepperoni were tasty. Only real knock is the pies are like 12-13” and bill was around $36. Kinda pricy for small pies.

Great Experience

By jared625 |

Went here with our 3 year old and 10 month old and had a great time. They offered a plate of dough for our 3 year old to play with which he happily did for the whole meal. The burrata appetizer was delicious as was the pizza. The excellent food was matched we great service. Highly recommend! Way better than anything on the riverwalk and well worth the 5 minute walk to get there from the riverwalk

Excellent Service

By mayorphx |

My wife and I visited Dough on a Saturday night and was fortunate to get a table right away. The pizza and salads were fresh and very good, but the service was amazing. We can’t wait to come back. Triple D recommendation that did not disappoint.

Top Notch all things Italian! Right near downtown area.

By PhyllisMarie |

Just as good as before! If you have never tried it, it is an amazing place for all things Italian! Cheese, pizza, and salads. It isn’t a big place so make reservations and or call ahead. Ask for the waiter Chris! He is top notch!

Great Burrata

By Marge387 |

Been to the other location multiple times, so we decided to try this one. Same menu, same food - always a good choice. If nothing else, get the Burrata! This location is more hipster than the other location, probably due to its proximity to Hemisphere Park and the River Walk.

Excellent pizza

By NB5 |

Fantastic pizza, salads and drinks. Reasonably priced and just an excellent place. Highly recommend and def would go back.

Slow service, “good” food

By DD Jackson |

This is my second time at Dough, but first at this location. It was “good” in that I was satisfied after my meal; it’s always just the right amount of food. However, $60 for two pizzas, a salad, and a glass of wine for me and waters for my boys was a bit much. And, the service was incredibly slow and disjointed for no reason at all. It wasn’t packed, but it just seemed the staff was unorganized or spread thin. Would I return? Possibly. But, it wouldn’t be a place that I would be rushing to get back to.

Great pizza

By Mark A K |

This was a really good pizza in a really good location downtown. We went for lunch and the prices and portions were very good.

Great Pizza

By 972Tizzy |

I hit Dough almost every time I’m in San Antonio for work. Location is in a strip mall setting but don’t let that fool you. There is a few seats outside but more inside. I have a tried a few of the pizzas but my go to is the Prosciutto and Arugula with fresh mozzarella. Great pizza and I don’t feel so guilty eating a lot. Crust is super thin and cooks in a minute or two in their super hot oven. The place can get crowded quickly so be aware. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is it’s a little on the high side price wise, but all the ingredients are top notch and the service is usually very good. If I could do 4.5 stars I would.

YES

By Mike S |

Best pizza anywhere! And now it’s downtown and I’m Southtown. Appetizers and pizza. Great selection of wine and the best owners.

Get the Poco Pane as an appetizer

By Kelly85 |

The Poco Pane is basically garlic bread but it comes with cheese and it's sliced like a pizza - totally worth the $4.50! The pizza was amazing! We had the Pork Lovers and the crust was perfection - great service! We walked from the riverwalk, not sure about the parking.

Order . . . anything

By eimimathetes |

The best way to get a delicious meal here is … to order anything they offer. We shared a special seasonal pizza and a mixed salad. Both were great and the pairing was wonderful. This restaurant is superb.

Best Pizza since living in Europe

By pidaua |

WOW!! This is a must when visiting Downtown San Antonio. The staff is very knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. They make their own mozzarella which is to die for, as it is rich and flavorful. We ordered the special pizza of the day, with fresh arugula, pork, chili, and it was amazing. Tip- try the small antipasto plate, you will not be disappointed.

Delicious

By Tracy |

The food here was delicious. We chose to order one of our server's, Abigail, favorite pizzas - The Fontina. We enjoyed eating on our lunch on the patio. The service was excellent and fast. If we lived closer we'd be back sooner. Convenient if you are visiting Heimfair Park and the Tower of Americas.

This is a very cozy little pizza joint.

By Jim S. |

Pros: The staff was very nice. The service was quick and the pizza was very tasty with quality toppings and a perfect crust. The price of the food was very reasonable. Cons: I had a glass of house red wine and it cost me $15. Perhaps there were cheaper options that my server did not mention? I would definitely go back but may check out cheaper drink options.

Great stop for adults and kids!

By A_Roswell_Family |

Enjoyed pizza, italian sodas and a frozen adult granita on a very hot day. Pizza was fabulous and very similar to Antico in Atlanta, GA. Great lunch stop, highly recommend.

Yum!

By lstorch |

After a Conference and dinner, my husband and I walked by Dough and were intrigued by the house-type structure and the Hemisfair Park location. I made a mental note to check it out on the internet. I’m glad I did! A Tuscan salad of fresh mixed greens, tomatoes, olives, mozzarella dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette and a scrumptious meatball, provolone, parsley, marinara and Parmagiano Reggiano pizza were perfect for lunch. Dough’s pizza reminded me of Tuscany, IT and Pizzos in San Diego CA. Lance, our waiter, was knowledgeable about the food and accommodated my request of some honey for my crust ends. Yes! It’s delicious. Lunch was quick without sacrificing quality or taste. This place is marked for more returns to come. Also, the modern decor and copper siding is pleasing to the eye. Be there upon opening as the placed fills up within minutes. You’ll be “pizza ruined” after Dough’s.

Religious Experience

By Sandra D |

When's the last time you went to a restaurant twice in the same day? Until yesterday, the answer for me was NEVER. But stopping for lunch at Dough changed that. The pizza is sublime, so much so that I found myself right back there for dinner. And it's not just the pizza. This company has it figured out on every level(and I love that!). From the lighting to the music to the training of their staff, Dough doesn't miss a thing. The red wine is served at the right temperature (and price) and local beers are the focus on tap. The vegetables are sourced locally and delivered daily. And the pizza.....swoonworthy. Yes, it was a religious experience. Preach, Dough, preach.

Delicious pizza, off beaten track, but closeby

By Rich G |

Sat at the bar and had a $15 (basic) margarita pizza and a beer (lunch). Great service, flavors, and hospitality walking in. Very close to the park, so a short walk from the major attractions of San Antonio - well worth it. Nice thing to do after visiting the Hemisfair park and tower.

Enjoyed our dinner!

By TravelIntl |

We walked by this restaurant when we went to Rosario’s and it smelled so good, we came for dinner the next night. There was a wait since it was a Saturday night but it was worth it. We had Burrata with Prosciutto and it was very good. We also had the pizza special of the day and enjoyed it. Our waiter, Nico, was excellent.

Excellent pizza

By Simon S |

Excellent pizzas and great service Real flavours and fresh ( Europeans will like ! ) Out of tourist area and worth a walk from central area

Dinner

By Tina M |

Loved the service and food. Our server was very personable and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was awesome especially the warm artichoke dip it was so good we went back the next day for more of it.

Amazing food

By amullins77 |

We had walked to one pizza spot and It was unexpectedly closed so we walked to Dough! I am so glad we did. Felt a bit under dressed but really people had all types of clothing. Personally, I would have put in something a little better than shorts and a tank. The service was great! The food was amazing and the wine was good. We had a burrata plate as an appetizer and let me tell you I will think about It for a long time! We all had different pizzas and loved them!

Delightful Spot to meet friends

By ELLeonard |

I went here with local friends to catch up over dinner. The service staff were excellent, making sure everyone’s needs were addressed, and allowing old friends the space to talk and talk and talk. The food was exquisite. Their menu is mainly local items with offerings for the vegans in the group. As a group we shared several desserts. This location was a smaller venue, but they easily accommodated a group of five. I would highly recommend!

Great visit to Dough

By Michael D |

While the weather in San Antonio was less than ideal last week our visit to Dough on Alamo more than made up for it. From the Cafe Americana right down to the Tiramasu for dessert, Dough was the best meal we've had in quite a while. Of particular interest was the antipasto plate. I've looked for a description of the compote that accompanied it. I think I saw that it's main ingredient was Moscato Grapes but I might be wrong. I would love to know what was in it!!! We've tried a couple variations at home to no avail. All in all, a fantastic meal. We will be back.

Great pizza!

By James S |

We waited about 45 min on a Friday night for dinner without a reservation. Worth the wait! The pizzas are individual sized so we got our own. I had the pork love and it was so so so good! Highly recommend

AMAZING PIZZERIA...Awesome find!

By msemv1 |

My husband and I stumbled upon this Amazing pizzeria! The service was great and the food was straight from the fire oven!!

A Gem of a Pizza Place!

By JN-FoodieForever |

OMG, Dough knocked it out of the park again! Want to first mention our server, Hayley. She was PHENOMENAL! One of the best servers we’ve had in a long time… attentive but not intrusive. We wanted our meal “coursed” one food item on the table (appetizer, salad, pizza, dessert), all came out super fresh and oh so deelish! We started with the burrata tre colore, the beautiful burrata ball filled with oozing cheese, flanked by tasty pesto and fresh tomatoes. Great way to start. The flatbread on the side was melt in your mouth! The nonna salad followed, grilled romaine, olives, tomatoes, capers, dollops of ricotta… terrific! Our pizzas included our fav, amore di maiale (“pork love”) and the fontina e salsiccia (fontina cheese, handmade Italian sausage). Both were excellent. The balsamic on the second pizza made it a bit two sweet for our taste, but if you’re looking for sweet and savory, it’s on point! The pizzas are served on top of a wire mesh pad that keeps the crust crisp and crunchy… very nice touch! A bottle of Montepulciano from Italy rounded out the meal, and was enjoyed through dessert, a piece of the Nutella torta…. a magnificent, silky pie. Another great meal, highly recommend Dough if you’re in the neighborhood!

Dough

By bardleyb |

Dined here early evening with 2 granddaughters ages 13 & 10. Very good food in a relaxed atmosphere, moderately priced with unique menu, decent but not large portions. Children may not appreciate the “specialty” pizza, but this isn’t a “boilerplate” restaurant. Oldest granddaughter enjoyed the varying food flavors, youngest not so much. No onsite parking, but paid lot across the street.

It was good not stellar!

By Tim L |

Saw it on Triple D and always try places from the show. Yeah it's good but they get a lot for it so the value is more of a place next to the Alamo. Don't get me wrong I liked it but profit margin is way high.

Fantastic!

By Sara D |

My husband and I ate at both of their locations within a five day time frame, that alone should tell you how good the food and service is. The service was attentive and personable. The food was outstanding! It is one of those restaurants that will leave you wanting to return and soon!

Delicious! Can’t wait to go back!

By Howard980 |

Delicious food and the staff was very accommodating with my shellfish allergy. Our waiter, Diego, was wonderful. He was friendly and explained everything. The chef changed the usual bruschetta (due to my allergy) with no problem and my husband and I got to enjoy a delicious appetizer. I have had other restaurants just suggest I do not consume the dish. I appreciate the chef taking the time to make something different so I could enjoy the food. We split a traditional pizza (which was delicious) and enjoyed a tres leches tiramisu for desert.

Pizza and more

We were delighted to eat lunch at this excellent Pizza Place. Service was great and food was outstanding.

A "Pizza Bucket List" Experience...

By JN-FoodieForever |

After a two-year hiatus forced by COVID, we made it back to Dough. It was definitely worth the wait! We went to the downtown SATX location, which is a beautiful space in an historic building, which the Dough crew has transformed into a warm, inviting restaurant. Try that location, it’s an experience in and of itself. I would be remiss if I did not start off this review by acknowledging our waiter, Christian, who was awesome! Attentive but not intrusive, just how we like it! Thank you Christian! We started with an appetizer of Burrata al Tartufo, which is perhaps the quintessential burrata dish. Handmade burrata (we watched it being made), mascarpone, ricotta, etc. served with crostini… Heaven on a plate! The Miata salad was equally good, a wonderful blend of mixed greens, olives, wonderful cheese, roasted garlic, toasted croutons, etc. The perfect segue into the pizza course. We ordered the Amore di Maiale (“pork love”) pizza, and it was amazing, as always, including the awesome crust! The Sugo pizza was available, so we ordered that as our second “we haven’t tried it before” pizza. Sausage, roasted mushrooms and red bell peppers, braised prosciutto… oh my! It was deelish! The Sugo did not overtake “pork love” as our favorite pizza at Dough, but it is definitely a close second. The wine list at Dough is not extensive, but what it lacks in sheer number of selections, it more than compensates with quality, reasonably priced wines: all Italian, most Italian varietals are represented. We ordered the Il Monticello Colli di Lune, a 2020 Vermentino. It was outstanding! The perfect compliment to our meal. Our general observation regarding the entire Dough menu is that it is, by far, superior to any competitor in Central Texas, likely the entire state. If you haven’t been to Dough, put it on your “pizza bucket list” and stop by soon. One last thing… a special shout out to Doug Horn, the owner, who visited with us for quite some time, despite the busy crowd. He recounted his journey from the CIA New York to “Texas Pizza Guy.” It was a delightful chat. Doug obviously loves what he’s doing, and that’s reflected in all of his employees, who are always smiling and laughing, including the folks working the 900 degree oven in the kitchen! Doug, thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We’ll be back!!!

Gluten-Free Pizza

By gpbvkb |

After a wonderful day, son and daughter-in-law took us here for dinner. They have gluten-free pizza and it was delicious. Had the house salad with the pizza - both were wonderful. Great service too! We will return!

Really good fresh pizza

By Kris N |

If you like Naples style thin crust pizza, Dough is your kind of place. They offer several fresh ingredients on all the pies. And then bake it in a 1000 degree oven. We tried 3 different pizzas and all were good. Only thing holding back from a 5 was price. The pies are 11” but average $17-20. Service was really good.

Delicious Pizza

By Jaye |

Busy place so we got our pizza to go. I don't generally love pizza but this was delicious. I'll go back and try eating inside if back in San Antonio.

One of our standard destinations

By eimimathetes |

We returned to San Antonio (our last visit was in March) and dined again at Dough. Wonderful pizza and great service. We ordered the seasonal pizza (pork belly and pear) and a regular menu choice (prosciutto); both were superb. Our son, who thinks that pizza = pepperoni, enjoyed both of them. Dough continues to be one of our standard destinations in San Antonio.

Seriously Great Pizza

By Stewbru |

VERY good pizza, a little on the expensive side, but it was worth it. Another DDD that we have throughly enjoyed. Would definitely return.

8 year old denied access to bathroom!!!!

By Quest13750 |

My grandson, 8 years old, was denied access to the bathroom as we were not yet seated. While your food might be excellent, no compassion was shown to him. I will never return to this restaurant as your policies are terrible. You demonstrated values that are not in line with mine, or many people. Do better!!!!

Amazing Experience!

By brooke_stone |

Where do I start? My 5 friends and I happened to pass this place after leaving the Alamo and loved the exterior vibe. After looking at a few reviews we decided to give it a shot. Best food we’ve had in San Antonio HANDS DOWN. The Burrata sampler was delicious, as was the salad. (The special for the day.) We then ordered 4 pizzas and loved every one of them. Our waiter (I wish I caught his name!) was so darling and kept our drinks full. Seriously can’t say enough about this place.

Best Pizza!!!!

By janbytheocean |

My husband and I went here mid afternoon for lunch, ordered the Pork Love and I'm telling you, I'm in love. So good. The flavors were amazing, stretched mozzarella perfect, and the crust was light as air. We also sampled the craft beers. Will definitely visit again if were in the area.

Excellent food and atmosphere

By madisonmim |

The homemade fresh Fior is Latte Burrata was amazing! We were thrilled with the arugula and prosciutto pizza also. The service was fantastic and we loved eating outside.

Good pizza and salads

By ccostanza1 |

We were seated quickly and our waiter was prompt and friendly. Pepperoni pizza came with an overdose of pepperoni and a good crust. Tossed salad with balsamic and a seasonal salad with pecans. I would have given them 5 stars but very noisy.

Not as good as it should have been

By 404HappyTraveller |

Waffled back forth between three and four stars - it was better than average but not quite very good. It was an easy stroll from our accommodation, and got mostly good reviews so off we went. It was busy but there was no line to get in so we were seated quickly. Our server started off being quite attentive, but as the meal progressed, it was more like hurry up so I can be done - we were quite a bit away from finishing our pizza and she was already asking if we wanted dessert. We had the special of the day salad, and it was somewhat lacking - lacing enough dressing and lacking enough cheese so as to barely be noticeable. The pizza, conversely, was quite good, and we did really like the crust, which apparently their claim to fame. Not an inexpensive meal by any means, so it was overall somewhat disappointing. Oh, by the way, if you’re adding a surcharge for using a credit card, at least let me know before you take my card so I at least have the option of paying cash.

Great place!

By Susan S |

The in house burratta cheese was marvelous! Their pizzas are very tasty with all very fresh ingredients and the crust is delicious. Good service and location.

Heavenly burrata

By hellaalyshia |

Great place to indulge in pizza, wine, and divine burrata in San Antonio. I am not kidding about the burrata - order just that and a bottle of wine for yourself or bring friends so you can actually eat pizza after. The pizzas are wonderful, thin-crust pizzas with your standard artisanal toppings and they all taste great. But order the burrata!

Burrata heaven!

By Kamilla M |

They have several burratas on the menu. We tried their 3 burrata combo, and it was so delicious! Especially the truffle burrata! The pizza dough was tasty and crunchy - and the service was on point. Three burratas and two pizzas was way too much food for two girls, though! Only thing bad is the restaurant’s acoustics - it was really difficult to have a conversation over the table because of the noice.

Consistently Delicious

By HaveJetWillTravel |

Came in on a business trip and remembered that I had gone to the other Dough location up north. I had a great experience at that location a few years ago and wanted to give it a shot again. The place has a great atmosphere. The bar is a good spot to watch them make fresh mozzarella! Delicious pizza and hoppy cold beer. All the staff was friendly and taught me the basics of making Mozzarella. I ordered the caprese, pepperoni pizza with added mushrooms and sausage, and a bitter floral west cost IPA. Great experience and would come back for sure!

Pizza like no other...

By Debbie O |

I've heard so much about this restaurant and know it was on Diners, Drive-ins's and Dives, so finally had a chance to check it out. I hosted a business lunch there and was very impressed, the ambiance is perfect, it wasn't too noisy, the service was spot-on and the food - each bite was mouth watering. I wish I had thought to order a TO-GO pie for for my family to enjoy at home...

They have a PIZ-ZA my Heart😘.

By Lacey Ann |

I'm speechless, and that doesn't happen very often. I can't recall ever having pizza this phenomenal. Both the Margherita and the Buffalo Margherita Pizzas were addicting. I think I dreamed about them that night after dinner. Their Mozzarella is fresh and satisfying, the Artichoke Dip hit the spot, and the Tuscan Salad can't be beat (those olives!!!). The service and atmosphere were some of the best we've seen. Saying we were impressed doesn't do it justice. 100% recommend😘 to anyone and everyone.

Fun place and great pizza!

By Loveavacation48 |

Ate at the bar to avoid long wait for a table - watched the burrata appetizers being made. Service was fast and entertaining on halloween weekend. Had the Fontina mushroom pizza which was excellent.

Must be living right

By Cathy H |

We were staying at the Marriott Plaza across from this restaurant and it opened on the day we were staying there. Wooo! Although it was a soft opening and they didn't have the entire menu that is listed online, there was plenty to choose from and we walked away totally happy. Our waiter, Wazen, was efficient and knowledgeable and provided a relaxed, welcoming experience. The place is known (well the chain, since this was their first day open), for their homemade mozzarella and burrata. We shared a large antipasto platter for $20.50, which could have easily served as dinner for the two of us because it included 3 cheeses, artichokes, mushrooms, olives, pepperocini and teardrop tomatoes. As i said the antipasto could have served as dinner, but YOLO, so we also got the prosciutto and arugula pizza that featured their homemade mozzarella. The atmosphere is trendy but inviting although I was not a fan of the chairs. I may be the first to review this place but I'm guessing I won't be the last. They did everything right.

A gem hidden in the tourist traps

By Nick W |

Sat at the bar the service was great. I was able to watch the kitchen staff and their commitment to quality and craftsmanship was fantastic. Homemade mozzarella and sausage were on point the sou-chef preparing the appetizers is an artist. I only wish I lived closer so I could sample the entire menu!

Lunch with friends

By nathan T |

I am always happy when expectations are met. Who does not love pizza? Great pizza is even better and Dough’s has some great ones. What sets this spot apart is the quality of the ingredients and the care the put into making them delicious. The burrada apps were on point. The salad was delicious and the pizza was a winner. Doughs hits all the high notes..we will return when we are visiting SA.

Pizza, Pasta and Salads

By Robert G |

Very convienent downtown location and the food is very good. It is a little expensive for the dishes served but for once and a while it is a good place to stop.

Good Pizza, Spotty Service, Horrible Parking, Excessive Prices

By Elias M. |

We got takeout while at a hotel without room service. There is no parking at Dough. I parked at a meter two blocks away. There were three tables of people but I was ignored at the door, (manager and cares who else) for several minutes until a waitress ushered me to the bar. I got a pizza, an antipasto plate, and a salad. They make their own dough. They have a wood-fired oven. They also left off the focaccia bread, (which I was told was the hold up on my order). The antipasto was good but not worth the trouble even if they had included the bread. The pizza was good but not worth the trouble. The salad was a salad. Some how this whole show set me back $40, not including tip which I still feel kinda mean about, considering the lack of service. I would not go back to Dough.

Great atmosphere and Fabulous pizza

By Nancy F |

Our pizza was great and service was wonderful. Water was triple filtered and the homemade Italian cherry soda did not disappoint. My only regret was not having a larger pizza.

Best pizza and fantastic experience

By Mike A |

Best pizza ever. True wood fired pizza. The appetizer of fresh cheese is to die for. My pork love pizza with added onions was the best pizza I have ever had. Fantastic helpful friendly staff. Perfect location. When I return to San Antonio I will Be back!

Spurs game day !!

By arthurchupka@gmail.com |

This place was an absolute gem!! The atmosphere and energy are electric!! And the Pizza smell from the Wood fire oven is intoxicating!! The pizza is dynamite and delicious!! A must when around the Hemisfair park area!! Enjoy!!

Nothing to write home about

By TravelerGirl1989 |

The place is located inside a strip center but had such great reviews we had to try it. We ordered a margarita pizza and added black olives to it (approximately $20). The pizza arrived (a little too black on the bottom for my liking) and it was too small. Having paid for black olives to be added we expected to actually see some on the pizza. There weren't many! The pizza was good but average but we couldn't justify ordering another one for $20. We tried the Italian sodas but they were rather flavorless. The staff was very friendly and attentive but we won't be returning. I don't understand all the rave reviews for this place. Bad location, over priced, small portions.

As wonderful as I expected!

By Jana G |

This was just as wonderful as I expected since watching the Food Network special filmed there. Everything is handmade, the dough, mozzarella, burrata and more. It’s just like real Italian pizza. Light, crispy crust with simple but tasty and super fresh ingredients. We weren’t hungry enough to eat the burrata and pizza because we wanted to save room for the pana cotta!

Wood fired pizza... Say no more.

By David F |

We just ate here and the food was excellent. Service was top notch, not like a pizza joint but more like a fancy restaurant. We ordered the insalata and pizza specials... Outstanding. I will come back to eat here...

Excellent

By Joseph A |

Had a chance to visit and sit outside on a beautiful SA evening. Friend and I ordered different pizzas and both were excellent. I had the buffalo margarita. Beer selection is not huge but good examples of their types. Appetizers looked great. Service was attentive but not annoying. I’m ready to go back.

Go for the Burrata!

By FoodieforShore |

Go for the burrata! It is phenomenal!. Pizza crust is great but the toppings did leave a bit to be desired. Sausage was just so-so...would have been better with some seasoning and the balsamic did not complement the toppings as well as an EVOO mix might have. We walked in early and the place was empty but yet we were taken to an obscure table rather than one with a view of the park (half the restaurant looks out on construction so any little bit of a view is appreciated). We asked to sit at a different table and that was not a problem. The burrata special that day was the best I've ever had made with peas, pistachio pesto.

I am in love with their cheese!

By Barbjvan |

Fell in love with their daily made MOZZARELLA & BURRATA sampler. Their pizzas and flat breads are unique and fresh ingredients. The small/single pizza was enough for me. Prices are a little higher because of the ingredients. I am not a huge pizza fan because of the usual thickness of the dough to the amount of ingredients, not so here. I was invited to this place today and I will be returning.

This pizza was seriously good!

By TuckerMidwest |

I would have given this a five, but it's a little on the expensive side. Service was good, great location within walking distrance to our hotel, and cool vibe.

Really really good pizza!!

By 512FoodBlog |

Really really good pizza!! I ate here when attending a conference. Very easy walk through the park from the convention center. Outside seating was nice and wow the pizza was delicious! I had the fontina pizza which had carmelized onions, mushrooms, thyme and fontina cheese. All ingredients are made in house and their burrata cheese dishes looked great although I didn’t try it. Would definitely go back!

Impressed

By Amyandshaun |

After a visit to Hemisfair Park we decided to try Dough. It was so amazing! We sat outside and enjoyed the nice day with the ponchos they have in the chairs and a nice standing heater! The americano was so good. We ordered the pulled pork pizza and not only did it come out quickly, it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back!

Caprese Salad was perfect 👌🏻

By CapeHorn21 |

We have had a lot of caprese around the world and this one was awesome. It comes with their salted pizza dough which was different but a nice touch. We also ordered their special which had pine nuts, fresh fennel sausage, Brussel sprouts and more. It was an interesting combo which was not bad but not our favorite either...maybe next time we will order a more traditional pie. Nice local draft beer selection too. Overall, I would recommend this place. It’s a 10-15 minute walk from the river-walk.

Fantastic

By JTW11814 |

Great food and great service. Certainly not what we expected, but we were pleasantly surprised with true Italian specialty dishes, and a very knowledgeable staff. We were recommended by a tour guide and it did not disappoint. A short walk from where we were staying on the Riverwalk, and absolutely worth it to have the quiet atmosphere and great service. If it wasn't our last night in town before we found this place we absolutely would have gone back.

Very Disappointing

By thepapatee |

The pizza was good. The service and timeliness of us ordering and getting our order outside was atrocious. We had a large party of family and grandchildren. Two family members had ordered food and brought it over to the table to sit and dine with us. The manager came out and immediately told them they couldn’t eat that outside with the rest of us. The abruptness and rudeness of that they get up and go was terrible. My daughter and son-in-law went less than twenty five feet away and sat on the concrete fencing near the restaurant. I can understand the position of the restaurant, but instead of calmly walking up and quietly advising us would have been more appropriate. The rest of us had already gotten water. The waiter was also adamant toward them also. So this started off on the wrong foot. My son was in uniform and I asked about a military discount as I’m 100% on disability. The waiter stated only the military in uniform. I’m appreciative of businesses providing a discount and in our business I always provide a discount to veterans and first responders. It was the attitude that kind of surprised me. We should have gotten up and left. We didn’t as my daughter and son in law told us, “go ahead and eat.” We ordered our pizza and we waited and waited. A family ordered just before us and they had eaten and left before we were served food. Then my other son, also a veteran had ordered a pizza with no cheese. It arrived with cheese on it. He went to their waiter and said I ordered no cheese. So he got the cheese pizza in a to go box. We ate our Pizza and it was very good. I finally got the ticket and it had both the returned pizza and the new on the bill. I brought that to the waiters attention, he came back with the correction. Guess what was missing... The military discount for the order, for my son who was in uniform. Even with all that, I still tipped 15%. 4 pizza’s and with a few additional toppings. Even with as good as the pizza We won’t be back.

Delicious pizza , Burrata, wine & fun!

By sallyGranger_WA |

Thanks Edward & Esther for making this a fun visit and for your food and wine suggestions. It is casual but light and upbeat. It was a lot of food but we had traipsed all over San Antonio & it was a wonderful place to land!

Wonderful tasty visit!

By Cindy T |

We have never had this style of pizza before and it was delightful! We had the lunch sized pizzas, and I was worried that it wouldn't be enough food for all 3 of us, but it was perfect. We had the delicious salad first and all together everything was flavorful and fresh and the perfect amount! We will definitely be back when we go back to San Antonio!

Pizza di Napoli

By Lloyd G |

A really nice (and authentic) Italian pizza and caprese salad. The food was great as was the service. I’ll be back.

Wow just wow

By Tom A |

We stopped by on a Sunday evening and had an app, the Pork Love pizza and a Gluten free Margarita. First, the regular pizza is outstanding, among the best pizza in the country. Light and just the perfect amount of toppings. It’s called Pork love for a reason. Let me say I don’t eat gluten free pizza. It’s cardboard with sauce, but my wife must eat gluten free. So she ordered a Margarita with roasted red peppers. It was FANTASTIC. I ate 3 pieces and that says a lot. Really the BEST gluten free I have ever had. Really!! Desert was pistachio gelato and was outstanding. By far the best pizza in San Antonio and the best food and service I have experienced in years. These folks know what they are doing. Go just go

Delicious 🤤

By Jaclyn B |

Service was up to par! The pizzas & salads were exploding with flavor! Our family can’t wait to come back! Good job Dough on getting my picky eater to eat & love it! Christian ( our waiter ) was phenomenal!

Worst Pizza I've ever had

By Diana74 |

Worst pizza I've ever had. Went there because the bartender at Margaritaville said he had heard it was the best. Well, we ordered a large pizza for $20 and asked for extra cheese. When the pizza came it was soggy, barely even warm, and had practically no cheese. Plus the pizza was so small it wasn't nearly enough food for 2. Left there hungry and extremely disappointed. The worst part was that after we told the waitress how bad the pizza was she told the manager and he did nothing. Wouldn't even look at us when we left. Terrible customer service. We will never go there again and I'm definitely going to inform the Margaritaville bartender not to recommend this place to anyone else!

Must go to!!

By waterbuffaloes |

Was recommended to us from another restaurant we had ate at the day before. Pizza was great. Our waitress Jenny recommended for us to try one of the burratas. We chose the Richards caprese. Excellent!!!! Jenny was a great host and food was amazing. All fresh ingredients from farm to table.

Hungry for Pizza?

By LadyDi3 |

Our mixed age-group (8-75) family of 10 wanted to find a Pizza place close to where we were staying near the River Walk where we were tired of going. Dough was a great choice as it turned out! They serve wood-fired Neapolitan style pizzas which our American-Italian family loves! The pizzas were great as were the homemade Burrata dishes we ordered. The service by Nico was exceptional! If traveling to San Antonio, make this restaurant a must!

Delicious and exceptional quality!

By Shari M |

Everything we ordered was delicious and exceptional quality! Service was outstanding. We shared the pepperoni pizza and Mista salad. I had the watermelon hibiscus margarita and hubby had an old-fashioned. Chef Chapa photobombed us while we were getting our photo taken. Lol. Thank you for making the evening more fun!! We will definitely return to our new favorite pizzeria.

Pizza

By Funkyme1972 |

Small and VERY.CROWDED! We waited for over an hour to be seated. Our server was also one of the bartenders which was absolutely insane consider the volume of people. Christian was friendly, quick and definitely multi-tasked. Overall, the pizza was delicious -don’t know if the wait was worth it but above your average pizza place for sure.

Fun ambiance with great food and staff

By Rich H |

Really enjoyed our lunch here at Dough Pizzeria Napoletana. Derrick, our waiter, very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was so tasty, especially the burrata and their pizzas. The burrate and pizza dough is made in house and you call — such wonderful flavors. This restaurant has a fun ambiance and I highly recommend dining here.

Friends lunch

By Lori & Dan |

Met up with a couple of coworkers for lunch. This was my first time in another coworker first time at the restaurant. The food was good. The drink was OK and the waitress Monica was great. The one thing I disagree with is they charge two dollars per person for using a credit or debit card. To me that takes away from the wait staff.

Off chance surprise

By LyeCon |

Having visited a nearby bar, we came across Dough Pizzeria to order a takeaway pizza to take to our hotel. We sat at the bar as we waited, and an engaging bartender asked us if we would like to have a drink. As a visitor to the US, I have always been impressed by the variety and quality of ales are available in your country, and the bartender, Steve, provided a flight of the local real ales for me to try. I was immediately impressed by the quality, and wanted to know more of what else was available. Steve also allowed me to taste some of the wines on the Dough wine list menu, and gave me detailed information of their origin and quality. I have to say, this young man is going places, he has an incredible awareness and knowledge of wines, and I can certainly see him going places. BTW, our vegetarian pizza was sensational. I don't think I have ever written a review of any takeaway restaurant, but Dough really made a big impression on me, and IMHO blows the competition out of the water. Hang on to Steve before he is recognised in much higher circles. Grazie!
