Steamed dumplings

By mshbnyehud |

I went for a late lunch (around 3:30 pm) when the restaurant is quite empty, and you don't have to battle crowds at typical meal times. The counter area was completely empty, and I had good but not perfect service (considering I was only one of a handful of people in the restaurant). I started with a Spicy Beef Sandwich, which was disappointing. It wasn't very spicy and the dough is quite chewy. You can enhance the spiciness and flavor by adding hot sauce provided at the table. Didn't love this dish, although it is a decent value. Next course was chicken steamed dumplings, beautifully hand made and perfectly steamed. Adding in some soy sauce and hot sauce, I found this dish to be delicious, easy to consume, and filling. But not so filling that I was totally satisfied, so I ordered beef steamed dumplings and was disappointed compared to the chicken. Basically it is a dumpling filled with a small meatball. It was just okay. Overall, the items I selected are fairly priced, which explains somewhat why this place is constantly full at meal time. There are numerous other menu choices to go back to try, and I intend to do so.

Perfect Pre-Movie Dumpling Delight!

By Beyond Borders |

We stopped by Dough Zone Dumpling House on Pine Street before heading to the movies, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The service was impressively quick, which is always a bonus when you’re on a bit of a schedule, but never felt rushed just smooth and efficient. The food? Absolutely delicious! Every bite was full of flavor, from the juicy dumplings to the perfectly cooked noodles. It’s clear they take real pride in their craft here. We left full and happy, just in time to catch our film, and were still talking about the meal well into the opening credits! The space itself had a relaxed vibe, great for a casual catch-up with friends or a quick and satisfying pre-show meal. All in all, it was a fantastic stop that added to the fun of our night out.

Excellent Food

By DeeFry |

Dough Zone has excellent food with a nice variety from which to choose. Service was great as well. Beware if you park in the pay lot on 6th. Be sure to put in the correct lot#. Your Pay-by-Phone may input a wrong# because there are other parking spots on the street.

Meh

By summitsvs |

Dough in the name was a very telling start. I had the pork and shrimp won ton soup and the spicy scallion pancake wrap. The wontons were served separately and you added to the soup. The wontons were a lot of wonton and not much filling. Filling was very good, but definitely overpowered by the abundance of wonton wrapper. The soup itself was like watered down straight chicken broth. For the pancake wrap, the spicy beef had no flavor at all and the pancake was underdone. It probably would have tasted good if it was done enough to get a true taste on. I will say that the place was insanely busy every time I passed by, so I know that they push an incredibly large amount of food out. All in all I was underwhelmed and will not be wasting my calorie allotment here again.

Outstanding dining out option

Amazing Dumpling

By cmickelsen |

I haven't been a big fan of dumplings so I'm hard to please with this type of food. I was so surprised with Dough Zone. Their dumplings were amazing and their noodle dishes were delicious as well. We tried a ton of different plates with a large group and really enjoyed all of them. They service was quick and the food was devious and fresh can ask for much more.

Great variety

By raininroses |

We came here around 11:15 am on Saturday morning, and were able to get a seat relatively quickly. There were no reservations, it was all first come first serve. They had some good options of food. The service was good as well. We would come back here.

Saturday lunch

By RonnieC88 |

Arrived 2pm on a Saturday, about half hour wait. It's mainly serve buns and noodle. I ordered crab meat Xiao lon bao. it's pretty good, filled with juice.

Horrible food

By cheri |

This is the worst ‘Chinese’ food I’ve ever spent money on, I’ll never eat here again. Pics are deceiving. Portions are very small. Not your traditional dim sum.

Nice enough food, let down, neigh spoilt, by poor staff service.

By Just_the_cook |

We were left to struggle with the menu and food. We explained on arrival we were new and needed help. We needed to get our own menu and look around to see what others were doing. No server support at all. We ordered several dishes. The food arrives with Asian timing, in other words all over the place when the kitchen is ready. The 'must have' fried pork buns were underwhelming and can be missed. Nice enough food but a poor dining experience.

Delicious!

By DKPuck |

The food here is delicious! I grabbed takeout to eat back on the hotel. Delicious food options. You can't go wrong by choosing here for dinner!

Really tasty food and fun experience!

By Karen W |

Excellent from beginning to end! After a short wait list, we were seated a the counter. We'd already scoped out the menu (with photos) on the website and Google listing, so we knew what we wanted: green onion pancakes, pork soup dumplings, chicken pot stickers, green onion and sesame noodles, another type of noodles with an unami flavor (get ready for the garlic in this one!), and sweet and sour cucumber salad. Also the milk tea and regular hot tea. Everything was really, REALLY good. I'll try at attach pics. Did I mention everything was really good?! 😄 We'll return the next time we're in Seattle.

Delicious Dough—in the zone!

By janeyhiatt |

We were feeling adventurous and were so happy we stopped by. We enjoyed Dan Dan noodles, steamed vegetable dumplings and pan fried wontons with sweet and sour sauce. I think the wontons were my favorite but it’s hard to pick. The noodles were really tasty too. It’s just a block from our hotel so we might have to come back.

Terrible quality

By cheri |

This food is terrible, if you’re looking for pork bao like you would get in any Chinatown, this isn’t it and the portion sizes are very small. I’m extremely disappointed. My husband hated the food too.

Best food!

By KMKD00 |

Great food! I could have eaten here multiple times, the wontons were my fave! I also liked the spicy beef sandwich. Just the right amount of spice.

Unexpectedly good food

By World Passport |

This place is only steps away from our hotel, the Grand Hyatt. We ordered their noodle and dumplings through Door Dash app and picked it up ourselves. All the food that we ordered were delicious. Price is cheaper than Din Tai Fung (another noodle/dumpling place) inside Pike Place mall but the portion is smaller too.

Soup dumplings were delicious

By Shannon N |

The soup dumplings were delicious. The kale salad was large and plentiful. The Chinese pudding is NOT Chinese pudding. It is flan that they are calling Chinese pudding. So don’t waste your money. This was quite disappointing. It appeared as though the servers worked together to take care of tables. Some servers were very nice and helpful and others were not. I went for an early dinner on a Wednesday evening. As I was leaving (which is quite elaborate way they require you to leave) at 6:30p there was a line to get in.

Great location great food

By Elizabeth B |

We went to see a play this restaurant was across the street. It was very good the service was quick and the food was good my very picky 14yr old daughter enjoyed her pot stickers and wantons she also enjoyed eating some of my food which was the glass noodle dish we will definitely eat here again.

We tried a variety of dishes

By William2013Buckley |

We tried a variety of dishes and all were really good. I called in for carry out and they were ready in 20 minutes. I walked in but I say a loading zone around the corner from the front door. A few people were dining in. Staff was very helpful and courteous. I will be back. Enjoy

Great value for casual dining

By bestatthebeach |

Very busy place but they seated us quickly. I ordered the Pork bao and it was good I was really wanting a char siu not a ground pork filling. We also had the green onion pancakes - I hadn't had them before and they were not as oniony as I was expecting but still good. Also had an order of the chicken dumpling soup and that was excellent. We ordered the chrysanthemum tea and it was OK but needed a lot of steeping time. Not sure what we paid but we ordered it for 2 and there was one tea bag in the pot - if we paid $11.00 for that it was a rip off.

Wow! Wonderful Vegan Options

By DeeFry |

Vegan options are wonderful, so delicious! Our favorites were the kale with sesame dressing, green onion pancakes, vegetable potstickers, Dan Dan noodles, and glass noodles. Wish they would make vegetable fried buns and vegetable soup dumplings. ;) Service was fast & efficient. We parked at Pacific Place, which is only a few blocks away. You can join the wait list online before you arrive. We have been to two other Dough Zones, and the Seattle Downtown one is our favorite.

Dough Zone is top notice

By Linda S |

I went to the Dough Zone twice during my 5 day Seattle trip. Everything we ate was excellent! We tried several steamed and pan-fried dumplings, several types of noodle dishes, and the cucumber salad. These dishes were easily the best Asian food I have ever eaten. I wish there was a Dough Zone near me!

Glad they survived the pandemic - good as before

By fsdukejr |

Our last visit was just before the pandemic in late 2019 after a show at the Paramount. This was after our first show at the Paramount post pandemic. We try to get on the waitlist using our phone before we leave the theater but waited too long this time and had to wait about 30 minutes. Masks are required until you are seated. We picked out our food on the order list while we were waiting. Service was quick and efficient and the food was excellent as always. We liked the green onion pancake but the spicy beef pancake roll was much better. The dan dan noodles were good but nothing special compared to the Q-bao pan fried pork buns and the Pork and shrimp pot stickers. The pickled string beens were interesting but I don't think I would order them again. We had 7 items and 2 Sapporos (in bottles) and the bill before tax and tip was $56. This was our third visit and as season subscribers to the Paramount Theater, we will be back at every show.

Left full and happy!

By Rachel548 |

Stopped here for dinner after a conference at the convention center. Got there just before the big dinner rush and put my name on the tablet at the door. Waited about 10mins or so. They turn tables over quickly and push food orders out fast! We had a chicken dumpling special, soup dumplings, gyoza, bubble tea, and the dessert pancake. Everything was great! Left full and happy!

Lively, good food and a fun place

By Sandy N |

We came here for lunch before going to a matinee. It's a great place ! Very busy and a lot of energy. We shared 6 different items and they were all really good. The Szechuan salad was too hot for my taste, but what did I expect, with a name like that. The staff was very organized and the food came quickly and in waves. Not so fast that you felt rushed. They paid close attention to details, like clearing off the dishes that you finished and bringing the check when you were done. It all worked like clock work, and the place was very busy. They don't take reservations, but we only had to wait a few minutes. Prices were very reasonable. I definitely plan to come back.

Tasty dumplings and soups. Good service. Close to ferry terminal.

By Wesley |

We decided to try this place after a Kraken hockey game and on our way back to Poulsbo. The place is very clean and spacious. Service is good. The dumplings and soups are good. Fairly priced.

An interesting place for flavors

By dennis d |

We a number of dishes including green onion pancakes, chicken xiao long bao (soup dumplings), pan fried pork buns, pork & shrimp pot stickers, dan dan noodle, and the fried chicken wontons. The most interesting dish was the dan dan noodles. The flavors changed as you eat the noodles, try figuring out what the lead taste is? Only problem was seeing a roach in the men's room

Outstanding Asian restaurant

By Minnie |

First time here, I’m really impressed We got the 5 steamed buns, hot and spicy soup, 5 spice sirloin, naan banana desert

Great dimsum, excellent service

By WanderingWorzels |

Went to this restaurant as wanted something local, and a quick bite to eat. Staff here are amazing, the service was outstanding and very quick. This place is run very well, from taking your order to food delivery and turning the tables around for the next guests. Staff very friendly, good dim sum dumplings would recommend and go again if in the area

Okay for First Time Trying

By redhead_roaming |

We just went there last night (Friday) for the first time, at 5pm. When we entered, there were maybe 4-5 tables with people. When we left an hour later, the place was filled up, with people waiting for tables outside. We got a total of 6 dishes - Pork Soup Dumplings, Pork & Crap Soup Dumplings, Pork & Shrimp Pot Stickers, Chicken Wonton in Hot & Sour Sauce, Dan Dan Noodle and Chicken Dumplings. My favorite dish was the Pot Stickers. Usually, I don't expect anything too crazy from those but these were large and very good! I highly recommend those! We enjoyed the flavor of the soup dumplings but they were kinda small and about half of them were already leaking when we picked them up - it appears that the dough is thin. I feel like the ones from Din Tai Fung are a little more hearty. The Hot & Sour Soup is just that - very hot & sour! I liked it since we don't usually order something like that but I wouldn't order it again. Worth a try once though. We ate the 6 dumplings it it but didn't really touch the soup. The Dan Dan Noodles were the one thing I heard such great reviews about before we went so we got those - and we instantly regretted it. It was by far our least favorite item on the menu. The insane heat aside, they had a peculiar flavor (not necessarily bad but different). After that, there wasn't much substance to it. We kinda likened it to a ramen dish, with how the noodles were and such. Then, yes, the spiciness of it was so intense, my mouth was tingling and on fire for quite a while. I only ate about half of my half and it ruined the flavor/taste of the Chicken Dumplings I had afterwards. The staff were more or less good. Everyone was very friendly but the people who were delivering the food didn't know what they were doing. They were just walking around with dishes, looking at everyone's list on their tables, trying to match up. They obviously don't know table numbers yet. We wanted to get a veggie dish but didn't care for any of their options. We had heard this was the easier-to-get-into & poor man's version of Din Tai Fung. I would agree that it is cheaper but not by much. I'm sure after a while, it won't be as crazy to get into this but it is right across from the Paramount so it could be a popular destination before & after shows. One plus is you don't have to have your whole party to get seated, unlike Din Tai Fung.

Better than competitor!

By Hawaiisurfn |

We (husband and I) were staying at the Grand Hyatt a block away from Dough Zone. We were planning to drive to competitor but checked Yelp and saw this place was rated 4.5 stars. So decided to walk a block and instead driving try this place. Yelp never fails me! Dough Zone was delicious! we sat at the bar counter and was immediately waited on by Christina. She was so personable and with a beautiful smile. We ordered a number of their dishes which included, Dan Dan noodles, Onion Soy sauce noodles, Xiao Long dumplings (with hot broth inside), pork shrimp potstickers, pork baked buns, and green onion pancakes. ALL WAS DELICIOUS! Much better than the major competitor! Noodles were perfectly prepared. You are handed a menu and a paper/pencil to jot down your order. Christina immediately punched in our order and as the food was prepared the dishes were brought to you fresh and hot. We have found are favorite place for dumplings! Dough Zone!

Great Rustic Nuanced Flavors

By jtssea |

This place is wonderful. The menu has some unique fun items and is easy to navigate. The menu is a bit smaller but more than robust. People ask how it compares to DTF(DinTai Fung ) i think.DZ is amazing and unique. DZ has more texture to its dough and fillings. Both are great. I now prefer DZ for dumplings and noodles and buns. Delish. The servers were great.

Asian dining in the financial district

By Khai L |

This is a nice place for Asian food in the middle of the financial district. The food might not be the best in their own category, but overall everything is pretty tasty. If you order soup dumplings, you're expected to know what you're doing. Apparently, there are no instructions at all, which I think is an oversight since the dish needs to have a proper introduction for a good impression.

Great spot before/after a show at The Paramount

By Sue F |

We needed a family-friendly spot (three generations) after going to an afternoon performance of FROZEN at The Paramount. This fit the bill. They don't take reservations but we got in fairly soon after checking in. Delicious food and fast/efficient service.

Bring a pal - you'll want to share

By MB122918 |

Ate here solo and everything I ordered was delicious. Green onion pancakes were thing and flaky with loads of flavor, the dan-dan noodles had some spice (but not too much) and the noodles had a good chew, and the pork bao buns had just the right amount of filling. Everything was so good, I didn't even try the sauces they had on the table. I wish I had a friend with me though because there were about 10 other things I wanted to try! Portions are a good tasting size to share between 2-3 people if you're getting multiple items, or if you're looking for a small meal. Service was quick, though the items don't necessarily all come out at the same time or in any particular order. Excellent value for the price. I'll definitely be back!

Gorgeous food, very reasonable.

By Dani W |

Absolutely stunning food. Wasn't a fan of the fried beef but the pork buns were amazing as well as the banana crepes highly recommend to anyone wanting a reasonable meal.

A different place

By PMM642014 |

The place is inside a small shopping center. The service is very good, and while it has very good dishes, there are others that are not worth it.

Only so so. A better option nearby

By Tardykat |

To compare with a famous chain that is operating nearby, we dined here for dinner ordering the same options (for the most part). Chicken and pork soup dumplings and a beef noodle soup. We also ordered the pan fried pork buns (saw a YouTube review that said it was good). Well, it wasn't. The skin is crispy on the bottom but the pork filling had a strange oozy quality and the dough of the pan fried buns were too thin for this type of food. It's meant to be fluffy and chewy like a bao bun. Avoid the pan fried buns. The soup dumplings were decent with pork more flavorful than the chicken. The beef noodle soup was ok. Soup was a bit bland but the meat pieces were tender. The noodles were a bit too al dente for this type of noodle dish.

Good variety of Dim Sum.

By DandK |

We shared several plates of noodles, dumplings and pot stickers, I would have rated it higher as the food was good, but the reservation system is unreliable, It requires you make an online reservation and the Dough Zone sends you an email with the time your table will be ready. We were a party of 7. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was no reservation, though we showed the host the email sent from Dough Zone. We arrived at 12:30 and it was packed. We went to the back of the line. It took 40 minutes to be seated. Don't go at lunch hours. The food is good, but most of the dishes had similar flavors.

Fabulous quick bites

By Climber783431 |

I stopped into Dough Zone in downtown Seattle, and received a warm arrival on a slow night. I was hungry following a flight into town, but didn't want a full meal. Dough Zone was one of the few in-dining options available. I thoroughly enjoyed two different dumpling dishes. Their Pork & Shrimp Pot Stickers are perfectly pan fried, crispy on the outside, served immediately from the kitchen and delicious. I also had the Chicken Steamed Dumplings, too hot to eat immediately (very authentic), but tender and tasty. Service was superb and the final bill very reasonable. I can't wait to return again.

great dining experience

I brought my family here so my kids could eat dumplings. The service was very good. The dumplings were excellent. I can't remember all of what we ordered, but we loved everything.

Delicious dumplings, buns, and onion bread

By Terri B |

On our first night in Seattle, we gave this place a try since it was a very short distance from The Camlin where we stayed. It was our first time eating dumplings, buns, and noodles, and we are so glad we gave it a try. So glad, we visited the restaurant again three nights later. We perused their online menu as we waited for our table. The visuals helped us to figure out what we wanted to try since it was all new to us. Once you are seated at the table, you are given a paper menu to check off what you want. The servers were all hustling, and our food came out quickly. We ordered pan fried dumplings, buns, dan dan noodles, and their onion bread. We enjoyed all of the food except for the dan dan noodles. The beef in the noodles was great, but the noodles were not a good fit for us. The taste of them was just a little different for me and the rest of the family. When we went back the second night, we just omitted the noodles and ordered more of pan fried dumplings, pan fried buns, and onion bread. Again, the servers were hustling and it was noticeable how hard they work to get the food to the customers. Thank you for the great meals!

Tasty dim sum.

By PatKong |

Looking for a nice lunch before the theater, we found the Dough Zone just across the street from The Paramount Theater. The service was quick and efficient. The food was excellent. We had several kinds of steamed dumplings, noodles and a cucumber salad that was both beautiful and delicious.

Good choices for a quick lunch. Also good for groups

By sarchakra |

We ate twice here- once we had to do a take out because we were too late and dine in had closed for the day. Even then the place was packed with people ordering take outs. You take a paper menu, tick what you want, pay and wait for your turn. The first time we ordered Dan Dan Noodles and Wontons in Chili Oil. The former was pretty basic but the later was delicious. We made a lunch appointment for our next sit down meal. The place was teeming and we had to wait a bit even with the reservation. Finally we got seated- the process is the same. The food took a little while to come in as they were SO BUSY. Vegetable Pot Stickers - very bland Shrimp & Pork Dumplings - didn’t have much flavor Noodles w/onion & soy sauce - just ok Noodles w/minced pork - special mention- this was delicious. The price is very reasonable considering it is Seattle which is a pretty expensive place and city. I wish I was more hungry so I could try more dishes but unfortunately we were eating too much already every day. I would like to go back again here and order something different next time.

Great Dumplings and Noodles.

By Mike T |

We stopped in for a late lunch while in Seattle for one day. We had eaten here on a previous trip and were excited to return. You order by writing out what you want from a check list on your table. The food arrives at different times during the meal and was always hot. The dumplings pot stickers and noodles were excellent. Definitely recommend for a casual dining experience.

10/10 just off the main drag. Quite fast really nice dumplings.

By Alison S |

Excellent dumplings for weary travellers - quiet, beautiful food and attentive waiters. 10/10. Would come back any time.
