Love this place

By MarcyAg82 |

My favorite baseball watching spot in San Antonio. Lots of TVs so You can see several games. Always great service from Lauren Ramirez at the bar. Good rock and roll music that isn't so loud that you have to shout to have a conversation. Cold beer. Good prices. Off the Riverwalk 1/2 block at the corner of Navarro and Market.

good beer

A locals bar. Not a tourist trap. Friendly people. Excellent drafts. Cool jukebox. Will go again. Bet it's hopping on a weekend.

best river walk local bar in SA

By Tex B |

Been here several times. Lauren R is a true professional. You will not be disappointed with a 2-9pm Happy Hour.

Not worth it if you're not on Happy Hour

By nderiley |

i think we didn't ask the right questions for HH? I was lured into Drink by the reviews, and we felt lucky to get a table at 3:30pm on an NFL Sunday but it was pretty empty. The one bartender there came up to us right away, so props for that as well. HOWEVER. I ordered a Moscow mule with well liquor and hubby ordered a draft beer. We giggled as we drank expecting the well advertised HH prices but were surprised with a $12 bill for the two drinks. Now. Should I have said something? Yes. However, we both didn't feel great due to various reasons and just wanted to get back to our hotel. So, maybe we ordered off HH. So fine, we ordered off HH, would I hang out here otherwise? Nope. It looks like someone's basement. Dark, chipped paint on the walls, not inviting. Fine if you're getting $2 drinks, but if you're not.. skip.

Cheap drinks, but don't be picky

By Aaron78923508 |

My wife and I stopped by to check out this spot. Her Cosmo was white and had sour mix in it. The bill was only $7.50 for two drinks on a Friday night though, so they have that going for them.

Not a huge "bar fan"

By Denny B |

So, we stopped in for a drink. The other three in my party enjoyed the drinks as well as the establishment. I guess they serve good Diet Coke as well.

Riverwalk Hotel Bar-Hotel Contessa

By Steve K |

Great Martinis! Friendly staff! Top brands for your tastes! I would stop at the bar even if I wasn't staying in the hotel.

Cool and fun

By Shuttergirlva |

This small bar was just the perfect oasis after a hot day walking the Riverwalk! Bartender was friendly and service was quick.

Lauren is the best!

By barbarapete2015 |

Lauren - you are the best!!! My husband and I stopped in for a refreshment and were lucky enough to have you on duty as bartender. You gave us great service and even shared your phone w/jokes of each state. You the best and we wish you the best in life!

Where's Jane?

Stopped by from a recommendation from a local. All the bartender was interested in was getting a credit card...she asked three times in two minutes. Drinks sucked...we left. Story over.

Fantastic Cocktails!

By shadowboxent |

My wife and I visited this place for a few drinks before dinner at a nearby restaurant. Our bartender was Lauren, and she was WONDERFUL! She had a warm, friendly personality, and was extremely thoughtful about mixing up the drinks just the way you'll like them. We enjoyed some of the best cocktails ever, including some extremely nuanced mixtures. I'm sure everything she makes is killer, but be sure to get a Michelada and anything that includes cucumber. Or just say what you like and she'll figure out the perfect drink made flawlessly. Best drinks in Texas!

great find!!!

By newlife4cindy |

This place has tremendous service and a fantastic happy hour! Bartender was extremely knowledge and helpful.

Top notch place for drinks

By Ed S |

We did not eat here but stopped a couple of times for drinks. Great happy hour (2 pm till 8 or so), good prices. Friendly and professional bar tenders. Interesting clientele. Can be a bit noisy but after a drink or two (or three), who notices.

Great Wine & Martini bars

By LoneStarDragonfly |

We visited Zinc Bar, Davenports, SoHo Davenports was the martini bar - great martinis - music too loud

No service

By zeromiler |

Waited at the bar, but no service. Bartender seemed occupied with doing nothing. Would've given less than one, but no option.

It's okay....

By Liz C |

Best place we found to watch a Spurs game. Slow service, no food but they let you bring in food. Limited drink choices and they weren't that great. We ordered shots and they were completely incorrect. The bartenders are really average and basic on any I mixing skills. The fixtures are very nice compared to the surrounding bars. Mens bathroom was disgusting. It was overflowing and no one took care of it. Friendly staff but they need strong bartenders.

Relaxed lounge bar just off the Riverwalk

By James Beswick |

The Riverwalk is fun, but the bars are touristy and expensive, so it's great to find a few places nearby to wind down. I have a selection at my disposal but one of my favorites is Drink, which sits quietly opposite the Hotel Contessa. The interior is lounge style - comfy leather sofas everywhere, mellow music, subdued lighting - so it's easy to lose a few hours with friends. There's the compulsory 120" TV for NFL or Spurs games but it's really a locals bar more than a sports bar. Service is relaxed and bartenders are happy to chat and eager to show off their cocktail-making skills. Asking what's new on the list always seems to spur some creativity without too much damage on the wallet. The wine list is ever-changing and focus on affordable bottles (that you can also buy to take back to the hotels and avoid the outrageous room service bills). Otherwise, a food menu consisting of pizzas and paninis is served until 2am. It's popular with the service crowd so it's great to hang out to find out what new and interesting around town. If you're in San Antonio, definitely check out Drink.

Awesome!!!!

By Michael H |

I used to bartend downtown years ago and this bar is my favorite bar downtown. They have great Whiskey, and an amazing draft and bottled beer selection. The Owner is a sharp guy.

Great Prices!

By bthwilli |

Great place to relax and hang out. There is no food but you can have some delivered...the table next to us did this.

Quick and Cheap!

By MrRitmo |

If you're ever in a rush to catch a quick drink before the next stop, this is your place. Good service and attentive staff will make it worthwhile.

Decent bar to hangout

By vick2909 |

I go to SA a lot for work and I love this bar! It is not on the river walk but very close to it is the entrance to the river walk. The staff is very friendly and they have live music during the week. The jalapeƱo poppers are yummy! Definitely recommended for good drinks and decent place to hang out with friends or even work colleagues.

Fun place with Great Drinks

By VanessaKUSA |

Had drinks here twice during my stay at Contessa. The drinks were really good and the staff quite friendly. The music was always god and one night they even had a DJ.

Cork Bar at Hotel Contessa

Friendly staff; comfortable seating. Great place to relax and watch TV on large screens or just talk.

Past it up

By Kirby03 |

Stopped in for a drink while in San Antonio staying across the street at the Contessa. Had a ordered two mixed drinks and they were awful. Stick to the river walk!!

"DRINK"

By MG7210 |

We had a few drinks on the Riverwalk at a few places, and were paying $12-$15 a round. when we found this place on Market St. we decided to give them a try. Well this place has it going on, the prices very reasonable. Here we paid $8.50 per round, Bud Light draft and a Bourbon and Coke. We stopped by after Hard Rock wanted to charge $10 per person. We stayed here for a little over an hour and wish we had came sooner, could have saved $$. They have big screens above the bar area which was nice to be able to watch FB games and Times Square which my wife enjoyed. The only one down side, was one of bartenders kept rubbing her nose and serving drinks, we made sure she didn't make our drinks. Other than that we found us a new place to have a few drinks watch sports, listen to music, and enjoy drinks at a great price. One last thing, there were both young and older crowds, we are 48-50, make it what you want! When we find prices like at this bar, we tip very well. Thank you to the bartender wearing glasses that night, great service.

Fun and easy spot

By Sacchinthms |

Came here based on Yelp reviews and loved it. The bartenders were quick and easy on the eyes. Drinks were priced well and the laid back atmosphere was a nice change of pace from the restaurant we'd just come from.

Local Spot with Cold Beer!

By head2hawaii |

Check out Drink Texas. It is not on the Riverwalk, but not far from it. It's a local place with cold beer and terrific chips and salsa. There are other items on the menu, too. I stopped in twice.

Great little local establishment

By jasono399 |

Great little local establishment to try out Texas beers and liquor. They have plenty of T.V.'s to watch your favorite sport while relaxing in a friendly atmosphere.

Great bar to sit down give your feet a rest .

By Donna B |

We sat at the Bar listened to some great music and enjoyed conversation with other patrons and servers. Drinks were awesome.

Best Moscow Mule... Ever

By Victoria P |

Oh my goodness, bars are not my scene, but I had more fun here than I've had in ages. I'd be here all the time if I lived in San Antonio. Wednesday night was a great mix of busy but not crazy overcrowded. My coworker and I stayed til 1am and we had an early conference the next morning. Definitely try the Cucumber Martini and the Texas Orange Mule. Both are tremendous beverages. The bartenders were super sweet and friendly. This isn't really a bar for silly 20-somethings. There's definitely a more mature vibe which my friends and I appreciated. We happened to be here on a night when Chris Cruz was playing. He was engaging, entertaining, and had us singing along like idiots. I honestly can't wait to go back!

great service and great drinks

By Keith H |

The drinks are strong and there was a good selection of domestic and local beers. The bartender which knew a lot about the beers, recommended a local beer and told me if I didn't like it, she would just get me a different one. Which is what she did. instead of bringing me another full beer she gave me a shot glass with a different beer to taste. The drink specials were good and cheap.

Happy Hour

By Teresa B |

Margarita's were excellent and just the right size. The staff was very nice and made sure we had what we wanted.

The waitress recommended my drink and it was delicious

By Jeri Ann J |

My drink was delicious that the waitress suggested. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their food, drink and music.

I'm too old

By John D |

We decided to check out a few bars in the lacaol area we were staying. Stopped into the drink. Very nice place typical downtown bar, for youngsters. I'm 60 and just wanted a quiet drink and this was not the place , music a bit loud and we defintelly felt out of place. Having said that good selection of beers and clean and tidy it was a safe and clean place as far as we could tell. Half a dozen people in the place at 8pm on a weekday.

An Average Bar, Which Means A Good Bar!

By Patrick_Arkansas |

Drink is a clean, modern bar right across the street from Hotel Contessa. They had several sports games on the flat screen TVs, good music, and a decent selection of Texas-made beers, as well as domestic and international beers. I was there alone and enjoyed the time.

Great if staying at Contessa.

By Roy D |

Interesting bar with great jukebox accessed via your mobile phone. Wide range of drinks at good prices particularly at happy hour.

Great place for a Happy hour cocktail

By Scotton52 |

Nice bar, friendly service, and good Happy hour specials. Laid out with lots of couch seating areas and the usual flat screen TV's. Friendly and efficient bar staff. No food that we could tell.

Drink

By TDR77566 |

This place was right across the street from the hotel. The music was great and we enjoyed the rest of our evening dancing and laughing with our friends. Very convenient location, right across from the hotel.

Great Time!

By MG7210 |

We stopped by NYE and there was a $10 cover charge for the night which was unexpected, because the did not have a cover charge last year for NYE. However, we did go back the next evening and had a few drinks. Service was great, the drinks were very well made. The bartender suggested a "Liquid Marijuana", and it was fantastic! They still have reasonable prices on their drinks. They also have several flat screens, couches to lounge and relax, friendly bartenders. We have a request, please supply the bartenders with a blender so we can order "Miami Vice", "Bob Marley", tropical drinks, just to name a couple. One of our favorite places to have a drink. There is no cover charge, other than NYE I believe.

Margaritas are special

By George W |

The margaritas are special. Fresh lime juice, Gran Marnier, Cointreau, good tequila. No sour mix slop. The way it should be. My Hendricks martini was good, but not special. Have one of their margaritas.

2nd best Margarita in San Antonio!

By Kay C |

The bar was quiet; the bartender friendly and VERY competent; and the Margarita was WONDERFUL!!!!!! When told that I was on a quest to find the best Margarita in San Antonio, she suggested trying Rosario's (#1) and Rio-Rio (#3). She also advised that Rosario's had great food (it did), but only drink at Rio-Rio as the food was sort of mass-produced. I really appreciated her taking the time to give very valid pointers on other drink places!

Cool cocktails, local booze - and not a dive

By arhie |

Fun cocktails and comfortable atmosphere. While this initially looks like a dive bar from the street, don't be fooled! No creepiness was found and the Western Moon cocktail was AMAZING. This place deserves its primo location steps from the Riverwalk. I will definitely be back.

Great party!

By Nuttyrd |

We spent New Years eve at this little bar that we happened to find across from our hotel. Atmosphere was great! Wait staff very helpful and efficient. Drink prices reasonable and DJ played a mix of music. Not really a place to dance, but we had fun.

Cold beer, sports and eclectic music

By Dallas D |

Came in while wandering around waiting to check in to my hotel. Bartender was attentive and after I ordered a beer she asked if I would like to try it first to make sure I liked it. I obliged and enjoyed it so I ordered a pint. Laid back atmosphere, great happy hour selections and great service. I will be back again before leaving.

Comfortable and not pretentious

By ThaiCookingRocks |

I was in San Antonio for business so had the chance to visit a few places, strictly for research purposes so that I could make sure that those coming to SA would have useful information on where to go and what to do. It was the last I could do. My first stop was at Drink, which caught me eye because I was seeking just that, a drink after an evening that left me a bit drained and I had time to kill. There are numerous well worn coaches and leather chairs primarily along the walls with 5 or so high tables with four seats and 7 bar stools that complimented the bar. The high ceilings help with the airiness feeling and patches of missing paint on the concrete floor made it clear that is must have been a popular bar. Large windows opened up onto Market Street and while there isn't anything particularly impressive about the view it let in a good amount of light and its nice to have the constant changing of street life adding to the comfortable surroundings. Four TVs were available for viewing and the 4 customers in the bar were busy chatting as opposed to being sucked in. The color palette was earth tones of browns, rust and woods. The light grey walls and the light from the outside helped kept the tones from being too dark and it was a comfortable feel, not drab or overbearing at all. I happend to wander in between 2-9 and that is when Happy Hour is, and wells and drafts were $3.50 a piece. After a quick pondering I asked for a screw driver. The bartender was polite, responsive and helpful. When I asked about food he said they didn't have a kitchen but there was a restaurant across the courtyard that I was able to order from (Zinc Bistro and Bar) and their menu looked enticing enough I decided I would visit instead of just ordering. And while there was a courtyard there was no outside seating to be seen. The screwdriver was delicious, but could be more potent, but the reason one can't go wrong with a screwdriver here, particularly during Happy Hour is the oranges are fresh squeezed. Yes, fresh squeezed. If you don't like pulp it might not be your thing, (you could ask them to strain it and they might, I didn't ask, and I didn't want too) but to have that kind of fresh orange in my drink made me a very happy camper. And for $3.50, I call that money well spent. A comfortable setting, decent drink prices and fresh squeezed OJ, what is not to like?

Happy hour 2-9 pm, nice!

By Heavy_GT |

Nothing to add from previous reviews but very good drink prices for HH. My time was limited as I had this annoying laugher in there with his friends.

Nice Local Bar

By surfinbird81 |

Located across the street from the Hotel Contessa, this bar is in a great location. Nothing fancy inside, just a fun, small bar to hang out. Happy hour is 2:00-9:00 PM and drinks were very reasonably priced especially compared to the surrounding area.

"Happy Several Hours"!

By MG7210 |

We came back to our favorite bar Saturday 9/19/15. We were in SA for the weekend and we have been to the Drink everytime we go to SA. Very good price drinks, happy hour is 2p to 9p most days. My wife and I had 4 rounds of draft beer and she had 4 rounds of bourbon and coke, and 2 shots of house tequila for only $24. This place rocks! They have big screen tv's, they have a digital music box. A must try for anyone who has not been here. We will see you soon!

What a Bar!!

By Reesa D |

Great place for large groups to hang out together, They have good music, country vibes and an outstanding bar staff. Light food can be ordered as well as appetizer.

Nice quaint place with good people & Texas drinks!

Nice little bar with authentic Texas drinks for good prices! We stopped there because it was close to many of the hotels, as well as where we were staying. The people were friendly and they offered lots of cool drinks!
