Best pancakes in LA

By lauragoesaround |

šŸ„žThe best pancakes of the holiday I ate here! We had pancakes with strawberries portion XL and a portion of french toast .. spectacular pancakes! Abundant portion šŸ“the place is located in the farmer market: parking is free if you let the restaurant show you. The place is very nice seems to be transported in past years of typical American diners! Very recommended

Breakfast with family

By Melissa T |

Great food! Everything from blueberry pancakes (love them with the blueberries cooked in and on top) to omelettes were awesome. Big servings! Only reason for loss of one star was that we waited a full 10 minutes or more for the pancakes to come out. Prices were reasonable for portions.

Comfort Food in a Comforting Old School Environment!

By SleepersGourmet |

Want to just sit with the local cops and chat over coffee with a slice of pie? Dupar's is a great stop. Service is always friendly. Coffee is nothing to rave about but the waitresses keep it hot, fresh and coming around. And the pies remind me of home! A must stop!

A Classic!

By ceetee00 |

Located at the Grove Mall, Farmers Market. This place is wonderful both in the variety of choices but that breakfast is available at all times. We had the French Toast, the pumpkin pancakes and a full stack of pancakes. Now look, the portions are huge. The pancakes could feed one for a week. The French Toast the same. The pumpkin pancakes were tasty and plentiful. The prices were reasonable, and the service was tremendous.

Popular breakfast place at Farmer's Market

By Doug M |

Good omelets and good service. Waited just 15 minutes on what looked like a busy Sunday morning. Prices average for that kind of food in this location.

Excellent lunch!

By Ashleigh426 |

We stopped by here due to reading good reviews on a break from a sightseeing tour. It was excellent food, decently priced and very good service. Had half an avocado blt, a Caesar salad and a piece of coconut cream pie. It really hit the spot.

We'll be back!

By Jim B |

We had great food and great service. We were seated and coffee was served promptly. Our booth was located so I could see the kitchen, as such, I watched the servers make fresh squeezed orange juice "to order" - amazing! The pancakes are some of the best. I had the corned beef hash, it was good but not the best I've had. My wife had the blue plate special #2. We would recommend this location and will be back when we are in the area.

It's a coffee shop

By Flyer780991 |

Nothing to get excited about. Regular, ordinary food and pie and higher prices then average. I would not bother.

Best stack of pancakes you'll eat!

By Monique N |

First of all, the surroundings of this diner are amazing. If in LA, you must plan a trip to the Farmer's Market. Once there, it is difficult to decide where to eat, but if you want a sit down breakfast, choose Du-par's. The "Hotcakes" truly are top-notch and the bacon is delicious and crispy. Be sure to have a tall glass of freshly squeezed orange juice with your meal. We also ordered an Eggs Benedict, but were a bit disappointed because there was no Hollandaise sauce, or sauce of any kind. Park in the Farmer's Market Parking area to have your ticket validated.

The Best Breakfast in All of LA

By ReggieT6425 |

This place serves the fluffiest pancakes that I’ve ever had. Everything was so fresh. Next time I’m in LA, Du-pars is definitely my spot.

Lunch

By todsbod66 |

Ate here during our Starlines tour. On a hot, busy day, Du-pars air conditioning, wonderful food and outstanding service was excellent. Much appreciated

Not what I expected

By Carolina T |

Du pars is good but not great. I tried French toast and could not eat them beachside they where soggy and had pieces of egg. My sister ordered the pancakes and they where great so we shared. At least those were really good.

A Happy Sunday with a perfect

By Travelpro Q |

A Happy Sunday with a perfect stack of hot cakes. My uncle really loves this spot he and my aunt visit on Sunday’s after church. During my visit I joined their Sunday tradition. I’m not typically a hot cakes person and I had planned to order something different but My uncle said let’s split a couple of large orders of hot cakes with the family. I tried the hot cake and it was light, fluffy and flavorful and didn’t leave me feeling heavy. It was very good and exactly what I didn’t know I needed to start off my Sunday.

Go for the huge pancakes.

By Ani K |

I went for breakfast here once before and had the eggs Benedict, and I was disappointed. This time I had the pancakes, and they were in fact wonderful. 5 huge pancakes for the full stack is way too much, so you can share it and get something else as well. I understand the french toast is equally good. My sister enjoyed her Denver omelette. Now I understand why this place has existed for so long. I look forward to another visit.

Referred by Harry Bosch (Michael Connelly’s book series character)

By Michael B |

We really enjoyed the large stack of pancakes, bacon and eggs and strawberry jam/preserves (bought 3 jars of latter). Ate outside and enjoyed great weather. Service from Sopit was outstanding. Very pleased with Du-Par’s.

Pancakes!

By Donna B |

I grew up hearing about Du-Pars but had never been. Decided to go recently because it was within walking distance from the Peterson. I had the meatloaf which was good but then we ordered a stack of pancakes to share for dessert. OMG the pancakes! Try them with the boysenberry syrup and they will blow your mind! I have never had pancakes so thick and airy...definitely will be going back again! And our waitress was top notch.

Hot Turkey Sandwich BABY!

By Faye K |

Okay, Dupars is a stale of late night foodies, They make fresh turkey daily and hands down the Hot turkey sandwich is the best anywhere. they have homemade dinner roles and hot fresh soups daily. Great homecooked vibes here.

Early dinner with mom .

By Atsuko L. |

We go to this one whenever we feel like eating pancakes šŸ„ž as their's are the best !! I also ordered a veggie burger. I asked if it was non dairy( no cheese inside ) ,our waiter was very nice & told me there was no cheese in it ,but I could smell cheese on my patty !! Also when I had a bite ,some cheese strings were visible ,too ! So, I mentioned that to him & he came back saying the chef told him tgere was no cheese !!? šŸ¤” So ,it could had been vegan cheese šŸ§€, but they never used the word to confirm w/ me ,so I was still sceptical, returned it .Bummerv! As it tasted good & their fries are fresh/ yummy ! I usually do not eat deep fried stuff ,but I eat their fries ! I WISH IF THEY SPECIFY IT ,whether it's vegan or vegetarian on their menue ,just saying vegan or vegetarian would be nice ! Or vegan cheese in the patty ,so on would be good ! I really hope they'll do so in the near future !He kindly took off my blueberry pancake's price from our bill, which was more expensive than the veggie burger & no charge on our coffee/ tea on top of that !! šŸ‘šŸ‘I always enjoy dining there as all the servers are very friendly & their services are excellent !! Free refills on coffee ! Tea,too ? There is a big patio outside ,too ! It's in the old farmer's market by the Grove !( right next door !! ) So,you can go shopping šŸ›, or watch movies šŸŽ¬, there are Trader Joe's across the street, also on the other side ,Wholefoods. CVS is there ,too ! It's very convenient to do it all at once !! Oh ! Do not forget to try their pies when you dine there ,too !! Their very popularšŸŒ cream pie 🄧 is so ~yummy & they've got some key lime pie 🄧 šŸ˜‹, too !! Their pie prices are decent as well ,a whole pie at $16.27? $ 16 + change for a whole pie !! Many places charge way more !! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS restaurant !!

Good Reliable 24 hour Delights

By Rorole2 |

There are few 24 hour restaurants in Los Angeles that have good, reliable food. Dupar’s is one Thired and Fairfax in West Hollywood is one of the best around. Eggs, BLTā€s, Turkey sandwiches, soups and desserts are always delicious. There is a cozy, relaxed feeling when you sit in the red leather booths. The waiters are friendly and never rush you out. Great place to read and talk. Worth a visit.

Good diner food in a classic diner feel

By donnaa80 |

Set on the edge of the Farmer’s Market, this restaurant is a beehive that’s always buzzing. If you’re looking to get out of the sun and relax in a cozy booth, head on over. The menu has lots of classic diner food for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just PIE. While my spinach omelet was nothing to write home about, the fresh fruit on the side was delicious. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. Don’t hesitate to line up to wait for a table- the line moves quickly. There is outside dining available as well.

Tasty Combo Lunch Deal at Dupars Restaurant and Bakery

By mini |

We went to Dupar's on a popular Sunday morning We waited a brief time until seated. Staff is very nice and helpful. We both ordered the lunch combo deal 1) Soup or Salad - my salad was very good 2) !/2 sandwich - I enjoyed their turkey sandwich 3) Pie - which was heavenly. The price was good. Its been in LA area forever and they are known for good food and large portions. Its located at the Farmer's Market

The place for breakfast in Studio City

By Pattithediva P |

It's a setting for movie studio workers who go on breaks and for big breakfasts, especially the pancake specials. The coffee could be improved and we often bring our own as it's included in some specials. The omelets and pancakes are the hits.

Amazing Pancakes

By Bill P |

If you like Pancakes, this is a MUST. These were the best pancakes I have every had. Light and fluffy with lots of real butter and a choice of maple or boysenberry syrup. An old fashioned LA restaurant well worth the visit.

Good food!

By cclakeman |

Had the chance to dine at Du-par’s last evening. The service getting seated was slow and having our order taken was even slower. Was expecting the food to take a long time but was pleasantly surprised when it came out in a timely manner. I ordered the turkey breast plate and my friend had a mushroom burger. All the food was very delicious. The portions were a good size so didn’t leave hungry. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and were very tasty. My only complaint was no gravy on the mashed potatoes. Would definitely return.

Good Breakfast Place

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

Located in the Farmer's Market in the Fairfax District of LA. Nothing exceptional but good food in a classic diner setting.

OVERRATED!!! Nothing special

By TraveledViking |

OVERRATED!!! Nothing special about the pancakes and everything was the run of the mill breakfast food. $16 for an average omelet and over oily hash-browns that makes you want to skip a days worth of meals... With COVID the service was way over worked!!! Our Waiter was having to do EVERYTHING but cook and check temperatures at the front door, while having way too many tables to serve. COVID measures are kind of being followed... Menus are reused without cleaning, along with table top salt and pepper shakers not being wiped between customers. NOT GOOD!

Slipping from prior self

By LeeTom547 |

Quality has always been high here but they are slipping. On last visit the oatmeal was not even warm. (Server did handle it well). The pancakes are still the best in town. It does cost more than the usual breakfast place for most items and that could be understandable: however to then charge $5 for maple syrup. Good comfort food place.

Love this place - pumpkin spiced coffee! šŸŽƒ

By AshBush |

We visited last year and when back in LA this year we had Du-pars on our list. We get there around 6am before going up to see sunrise at the Hollywood sign ( not a problem when you have jet lag from UK). The waiter was the same guy and he remembered us (mostly because I have milk in my Earl Grey tea - which is not weird lol). The menu is extensive, and all fresh and good. The coffee and hot chocolate are amazing. The location is on the farmers market so later in the day you can go shopping. It’s 24/7 so frequented by the local police on night shift. It’s red pleather booths and exactly how we imagine from the movies! Love it!

stick with the pancakes

By KYOU |

Service was somewhat slow and our waitress seemed to be somewhat overwhelmed, even though from what I understand its always crowded on the weekend. I had country fried steak with two eggs and hash browns with a side of bacon. I enjoyed the bacon, but the rest of my food lacked any type of flavor or seasoning. Im sure there are better values and food elsewhere

Good Food and Great Service

By Joe_Cool68510 |

After taking in a flick at the Grove, we were hungry. Instead of the big chain restaurants, we thought we'd try the Los Angeles iconic Du-Par's. The place is historic for Hollywood and has a warm, homey feel to it. We were seated immediately and were greeted by an amazing server who promptly told us about the specials for the day. We knew we were in good hands when she strongly suggested the chicken pot pie. Her advice was sincere and confident; unlike the corprorate-forced suggestions given by wait staff of other places. All three of us took her suggestion and ordered the pot pies. No one was disappointed. The crust was rich and flaky and was full of the traditional creamy chicken and vegetable gravy. This was a substantial meal in itself but we also enjoyed the warm house rolls with butter. Needless to say we were stuffed but our attentive server convinced us to share a piece of the blueberry cream pie. The pie was different than we expected but still rather good. It was a cross between a cream pie and cheesecake topped with fresh blueberries. Splitting it was a good idea because the slice was substantial in itself. After looking at their online menu, I definitely will be back for their pancakes and welsh rarebit and anything of their other iconic offerings next time I'm in the Farmers Market. You should go, too! Seriously. Go to Du-Pars!

Scrumptious Pancakes and other stuff

By lorna r |

Du-Par's was a pleasant surprise. We stopped in for breakfast before heading to the museums. The staff are attentive and friendly. Their service was great. I had to try their famous pancakes and I wasn't disappointed. Trying to find another trip to LA so we can stop for breakfast. Well done by Du-Par's. Thank you!

Good food.

By rgavo1 |

A very American experience and good food. It’s hard to find a bad meal at the Farmer’s Market and this restaurant is one of the best - great service, wonderful ice tea and even better coffee. A more than satisfying start to the day.

The famous restaurant Du-Pars at the Original Farmer's Market in LA

By ArthursSix |

A famous restaurant located in the Original Farmer's Market. Be prepared for crowds! We went here for breakfast to try their famous pancakes. Service was excellent. Enjoyed our pancakes without them being the best in the world, they were good. My grandson loved his special St. Patrick's Day pancakes. I also loved that they gave me a pot of hot tea, not just a cup. This is a must dine place at Farmer's Market.

Delicious Pancakes

By Polaroids & Drinkin Stories |

Came here really late night at like 3AM on a Friday. Expected to find a heavy after bar crowd but it was pretty quiet. It's located in the Farmer's Market and the good news is they validate parking (there's a machine at the front counter.) Open 24hrs makes it a good choice. Inside it's about as old school as they come. I'm sure not much has changed at this place. Lots of outside seating too. Staff this late at night weren't really "chatty" but were attentive and fast. I went with short stack of pancakes (that's three.) Bonus points for fresh OJ. Came out pretty quick. Now they say they're famous for their pancakes and I gotta tell you they are really really good. And pretty big. These three easily filled me up. Oh also a plus melted butter. Prices were on the high side for pancakes. But they are so good I'd pay it. The donuts in the front counter looked really good too but after the pancakes I just couldn't fit anything else in my stomach.

Deliscious breakfast to start the day!

By Buffalo33 |

Recently visited oldest child at UCLA and decided to stop at Du-Pars before touring the nearby Petermen Auto Museum. Quickly seated on a Thursday morning. Great service and hot coffee to start. Had a tough time narrowing down our choices but ultimately went with the classic stack of pancakes. How do they get them so tasty?? Son had crispy bacon and thought it was super flavorful. Would definitely stop back when we are in LA another time!

No More Pancakes, We Have a Winner

By eboosler |

We are so sad they just closed the Du-Par's near our house to turn it into a Sephora, ugh. We are so happy Du-Par's still lives here at the Farmer's Market. A perfect old world "diner", still making the best pancakes you can find. And still baking the best pies. A great place for lunch or dinner, salads, sandwiches, great breakfasts, and wonderful service.

Pancake Heaven

By Stacey M |

High quality food. The freshness in the ingredients you can tell the difference from other diners. Friendly service was the order of the day. The breakfast meats were delicious. You can tell the proclaimed AA eggs were used. Taste for your self.

Loved it so much we went back again, and again!!

By AshBush |

Huge menu choice, good parking, lovely waiter, open 24/7 (really good when you have jetlag and are up at 4am!). Only downside was lack of toilets (there were public toilets in the market but these were closed) that's pretty inconvenient.

Great Breakfast

By Foodie Sunny ā˜€ļø |

Pretty popular place so bring patience. The pancakes were really good. Old style dining atmosphere. Good food!

Classic Restaurant for Sandwiches, Plates, Pie Slices, and Ice Cream Shakes

By Steve698 |

Many years old restaurant with outside and inside seating. Known for classic sandwiches and plates and pancakes as well as fresh pie slices and ice cream shakes. Next Door to the Farmer's Market with many small food shops. Prices are a good value.

Pies, pastries, and coffee remain a treat

By Cavydad |

Pies, pastries, and coffee remain a treat. Same for their amazing breakfasts and hamburgers. Another old time Los Angeles Institution, right up there with the Pantry and Philippe’s. Always reliable and a go to place after the Art Museum.

Love their chicken pot pie

By Traveller Kate 8 |

Great atmosphere and service in this classic diner, which attracts locals as well as tourists. Had a wonderful chicken pot pie for dinner, with dessert of Key Lime Pie, then came back the next morning for their famous pancakes. Only negative was that there is no toilet on the premises, you have to go into the Farmer's Market, which is a drag. Fun T-shirts and sweatshirts for sale if you like that kind of thing. We love this place and will visit again the next time we are in Los Angeles!

The most amazing pancakes

By Reed |

Wow. These really are the best pancakes in the entire world. I have to imagine it’s made with twice the butter or something, but who cares - they are insanely amazing. This is a ā€œdinerā€ type restaurant so service is going to be polite and friendly but not over the top. Refills were on point and the bacon was perfectly crispy. Seating outside was very nice, although a bit more shade covering would be nice. Walking around the awesome farmers market afterwards is a huge plus - although you will be too full to eat any more!

JUST OK

By 2travelersasof2001 |

For everything in this area being so expensive I thought this down-home style place might be less so. I was wrong. The parking for this place is a nightmare, the food (at least what we got) was just average, and the service was really slow.

Long time fixture

By buffalojim67 |

Du-par's Restaurant is adjacent to the Farmers Market and has been for a long time. It's a nice place for a meal while you are exploring the market and the surrounding area.

24 hour delight

By Jim B |

Du-par's is open 24 hours and is famous for having the best pancakes in America, while I can't be sure I can say I have never tasted better pancakes (my wife ordered them), I had the famous chicken pot pie (pictured), it was very large and very good. I will definitely come back they have been here since 1934 and I can't see them closing or changing anytime soon. Good comfort food late night or any other time

DuPar's goes on forever. And still a great place.

By Easyg1 |

Wife, daughter, son and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast here. DuPar's is a legend, and has not changed in years...which is good. It's in Farmer's Market, which is a plus. My waffles were excellent, as was my wife's omelet, and my kids' dishes. Lots of good coffee and fresh squeezed oj. DuPar's is part of Hollywood lore and a place to try.

A typical American restaurant

By PierreBMalta |

A good restaurant with a good menu and open 24 hours. Good and quick service. Nothing extraordinary but typical american country set-up

Good food

By Rick_Sue1969 |

This place has been at the Farmer's Market since it opened in 1938. Good comfort food. Service is attentive without being overbearing. Many offerings and a nice atmosphere.

Unexpected Find

By DrOzGuy |

Went there for early lunch on a quick trip to LA and really did not want to do the farmers market again. Wow! What a find. Reviews said pancakes were the best. They weren't wrong. The 3 stack is plenty. Don't overdo it on the 5 stack. Don't really see too many real diners anymore, but this is good.

SuperWOW pancakes and service

By Stefano B |

We found this place unexpectedly, the pancackes are amazing and the service especially LAURA were awesome šŸ‘šŸ» thanks Laura !!!

Big pie disappointment!!

By Carrellandco |

We bought a strawberry/rhubarb snd a cherry pie. Bought were equally disappointing. Strawberry/rhubarb was tasteless with a crust that couldn't be less flaky if it wanted to be. Tossed more than 1/2 in trash!!

Great Food

By dawn p |

What a great place! we ate here twice lovely food, they are packed at breakfast and you can see why, you can also go around to the bakery counter and buy a piece of pie my oh my are they good!!! you will find at the corner of the farmers market also service is excellent very welcoming

Very quaint with great pancakes

By Addy13 |

Visited one morning for breakfast with the family. It’s a very quaint, comfortable and pretty little setting with an ā€˜old school’ feel. Staff are friendly and helpful. We had the American pancakes with some sausages, bacon and hash browns as sides. The pancakes, although looked like they were going to be stodgy, were light and fluffy and tasted great. Portion sizes were good - a stack of five pancakes was enough to feed my family of 4. The orange juice was my favourite. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area. Apparently, being open 24 hours, it is very popular amongst celebrities visiting after filming so you may get lucky meeting some of them if you are star-struck! Only downside is that it is quite expensive if you are on a budget.

Customer service STUNK!!!!!

By marshateru |

This morning, my husband and I went to Du-Par's for breakfast. We always look forward to going to Du-Par's because the food is perfect and the service is wonderful. This morning, the service was LOUSY and it STUNK!!! We arrived in the restaurant at 12:15 p.m., it took our waiter a half hour before he came to our table to get our order. He seemed irritated and was very short with us. My husband ordered the Traditional Egg Benedict and I ordered coffee and the bacon and scrambled egg with the hash brown and blueberry muffin. Our food was finally brought to our table at 1:00 p.m. The blueberry muffin is usually warm when it comes, but this morning it was cold. I needed a refill of my coffee and I put my cup over near the edge of the table so that any waiter or server would fill my cup. NOT THIS MORNING!! My husband had to catch a server to request that my muffin be warmed up and to get a refill of my coffee. When our waiter came to our table with my warmed muffin and to refill my coffee, he seemed like he was perturbed!!! The restaurant was not busy this morning, so I don't understand why we were treated like we were inconveniencing our waiter! Usually when we go to Du-Par's, we get really good service and we leave a tip, but this morning, we didn't. We were really disgusted with the customer service and the only words that is deserving of how we were treated LOUSY and STUNK!!!

comfort food in a great location

By Lena K |

This is the "go-to" meeting place when my sister and I can get together for breakfast or brunch when I am in Los Angeles. We decided to have the Family Christmas Dinner here last year, and we found everything to be perfect. Each person was able to choose his or her own dinner... with the added bonus of NOT having to wash dishes afterward!

A Smile and a Thank you can go a long way

By dwamala |

Came to pick up some of the famous pancake batter. The batter i made with the pancakes was point on great. The reason for the low review was the person taking the order had no personality whatsoever. I thought it was an off chance thing but this was the second time, Doesn't she know a smile and a thank you can go a long way. Hope I don't have to deal with her again

Du-par's Headed Downhill

By Brian M |

Used to be a fan of Du-par's Studio City location, which closed this month. Daughter lives near Farmers Market, so we tried this Du-par's today. Smaller than I remember, which may explain the 20-minute wait with only 2 parties ahead of us. Crumbs all over my banquette seat. "Freshly cracked" eggs over easy were good, and buttermilk pancakes are still great, but a full stack of 5 costs $11; a short stack of 3 is $10. Combo of 2 eggs, toast, hash-browns and bacon goes for $15; without bacon, $11. For value, we tried "Blue Plate" special of one (yes, 1) egg, bacon, and 2 pancakes for $11. Old-fashioned Farmers Bros. coffee tasted like Nescafe; hash-brown potatoes like dry contents of a baked russet. Du-par's pastries still include magnificent bear claws, but no more dense "French-style" cake donuts I used to love.

These pancakes........

By TxF1Lover |

We had heard about Du-Par's from an Uber driver. When you're told that someplace has the #1 pancakes in the US, it makes you want to go try them. The reviews on Yelp were mixed. We weren't sure what to expect, but we went anyway, and I'm so glad we did. First of all, this is a diner. Nothing fancy, so don't expect anything more than that. You are only here for the food. Next, discovered that everything they make is from scratch - bread, pies, turkey dressing, whipped cream, salad dressings, etc. Nothing pre-done or from boxed mixes. Our waitress, Tracy, was so happy to be doing her job and it was refreshing! Not fake, just genuinely happy to be sharing their food with people. Loved that. Now these pancakes - they were heavenly! All that they were hyped to be and more. Big, fluffy, slathered in butter, but light. Totally divine. Super yummy bacon was a great side with the rich pancakes. My daughter had a huge mug of hot chocolate that she loved as well. I'm sure other things on the menu may be just as good, but I'm not sure I could ever order anything but these pancakes. They are #1 for a reason. Go eat them. You'll thank me later. Not to be missed. Worth every calorie.

PANCAKES!

By Nick L |

When our family travels we search out the best breakfast places wherever we happen to be, Dupars is now on our list of all time favorites. We all had just the pancakes. The small stack is huge! we will be talking about this one until we make our way back to LA.

Very good breakfast place

By Andreas B |

I really like the classic diner-style of Du-par's. They offer up classic breakfast dishes in a setting that almost feel like a diner movie-set. I've had their famous pancakes year's ago and even though I'm not a big pancake eater I had to have a short stack for good measure - just as remember they are amazing and hands-down the best pancakes I've ever had. Add to that some eggs and a beef patty and you have a solid breakfast with big portions that will keep you energized for the day.

Good choice for brunch when at Farmer's Market

By Lena K |

To celebrate my 71st birthday, my sister & I met for brunch at Du-Par's restaurant at Farmer's Market. We each chose omelettes and sourdough toast. The service was attentive and the food tasty.

delicious pancakes

By Alexandra T |

We went on a Sunday morning and waited about 20 minutes in line. But the service was good and the food was delicious. The pancakes are huge and a short stack will feed three people.

Everything that could go wrong, DID !!!

By nycfrequentflyer |

Last day in LA and we were in the Grove so we walked into Du-Pars, found a booth and waited for someone to come over with menus. Fifteen minutes later, I stopped a friendly busboy and asked if we could see some menus and could our server stop by. Menus came immediately but no server. Finally an unapologetic & tired looking (it's only 8:30am) waitress came over and we ordered coffee. After the coffee was served, we noticed there were no spoons on the table. After several attempts, we finally got our waitresses attention and her assurances that spoons would be delivered shortly. After waiting about 10 minutes, we stopped the friendly busboy and asked him for spoons. We received them from him in seconds. Of course, by now the coffee was cold. Now for the food. I ordered corned beef hash with hash brown potatoes, poached eggs and sour dough toast. Perhaps, the most expensive thing on the menu. The hash patty was about the size of a small fast-food hamburger and the potatoes were equally small. The eggs arrived in a small cup, un-drained and swimming in water. Poured off the water (easily a tablespoon full) and finished my breakfast quickly so I could get on with some more entertaining aspects of my day. Did I mention that the toast never arrived. Tried about four times to get a fresh cup of hot coffee to replace the cold coffee with no luck. We finished and waited an additional 15 minutes for our check. Overall, the food was a bad value and tasteless. The service was totally indifferent and considering the poor food and service, the cost was outrageous. With so many really nice places for breakfast in the grove, why ruin your day by going to Du-Pars. Strongly recommend staying away from there.

Dupars 30th year memorial

By Bryan S |

I use to go to dupars at farmers market almost 30 years ago. It was a really great place for breakfast and at the farmers market location there was a line out the door every Saturday and Sunday morning. Then it was sold to guy Naylor and the first thing he did was rip out all of the counter seating. He tried but failed to recreate the amazing hotcakes and other dishes they use to have. None of the cooks or waitresses remained. I heard he sold it recently, too bad he bought it in the first place. Now I go by the one at farmers market and the place is almost empty. I tried the pancakes and ate only a quarter to realize this wasn't close to the old recipe. I couldn't stomach the dinner. Dupars has been dead for almost 30 years. Those who go now don't know what they missed.

Pancakes are a must!

By OnTheGoV |

We generally stay in West Hollywood and have our favorite spots. However, we are both big Bosch fans and felt compelled to try Du-Par’s. We had chicken dinners and a burger for lunch. And, banana pancakes for dessert (short stack for three). Absolutely, delicious!! Best pancakes!!! We would definitely return and recommend. We had exceptional service: attentive and prompt. Be sure to get your parking ticket validated when you pay your bill.

If you're hungry.....

By FlyGuy737 |

This is the place to go if you are at LA's famous Farmer's Market. Great menu with a variety of items that will suit anyone's taste. From breakfast to late night supper, you can't go wrong. Portions are large and delicious. The variety of pies are great too.

The best breakfast in town

By Henry M |

Harry Bosch said Du-par's is the best breakfast in town and he is right. The pancakes are absolutely to die for. I did not even have another one at any of the other places I ate for the rest of the trip. An absolute must visit.

Great pancakes

Good Open Faced Turkey Sandwich at Du-par's Restaurant and Bakery, Farmers Market

By mini |

I enjoyed a very good open faced turkey sandwich at Du-Par's Restaurant and Bakery. Its located at Farmer's Market area. Its been open since 1938. I had a very good ice tea with it. Service was very good.

Back in time

By mccdzyne |

Lunched here during LA day tour, this bakery restaurant part of the Original Farmers market on 3rd west LA. and once inside the photos and old world decor suggest it was one of the originals at this market. Slightly more than your average american local diner. Mostly hispanic staff who were very good at what they did. Comprehensive menus in birh food and drink , couple of vegetarian options nit sure abiut gluten free. The missus had spied the deep dish apple pie in bakery window - nothing more needed saying - we were eating here. Bith chise club sandwiches with salad and deep dish apple pie of course washed down with filter coffee- all very american. We both enjoyed the food , ambience , yesteryear charm and our efficient waiter. If in LA at these famous farmers markets , feel like goin back in time this place is worth a visit and yes the deep dish apple pie hit the mark for both the missus and me.

Just like Harry Bosch describef

By Ken B |

I read about the Du-Pars pancakes in the Harry Bosch detective series books for years. The pancakes are always mentioned as the best in LA. For a fictional character he knows his pancakes, they were excellent!

Best pancakes

By Edwin S |

Best pancakes I've tried so far! And the stuff was great. Came here around 8pm, wasn't busy and fast service.

Decent Breakfast

By TRTW |

I chose DuPar's because of its location close to my hotel. I only ordered oatmeal, which was delicious. My partner ordered ham and cheese omelette. My oatmeal had a few berries and sugar already mixed in. It tasted good. It was satisfying too, it won't make you full nor hungry. My partner's meal was much more satisfying. Service was kind of rushed, but the staff is friendly. The manager brought the kiosk for payment to our table, but left it with me and walked away. So I left it there. Again, it's a good place. Will probably come back again.

Awesome!

By Drich7983 |

The food here was very good and portions were huge!! The clarified butter was amazing. Everything was fresh and made to order. The staff was friendly and made sure we were taken care of. It was a bit pricey, but definitely worth it (consider splitting meals as the portions a huge). I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

An excellent choice for breakfast!

By Nikki A |

The best pancakes, blueberry muffins, and even the sour dough toast was great. We loved the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff and other patrons. This is a must do!

CROWDED BUT GREAT!

By Burtdol |

Overall this restaurant in a large LA market was excellent. Hard to not give anything you order 5* for quality and quantity. If you have a little extra time to maybe wait for a table or service it is well worth it. Therefore negatives give it a 4* versus the 5* overall rating. The negatives are (1) it's location does not permit a restroom at the restaurant and you must go out in the central market for a restroom (2) crowded location with no reservations mean a fairly good wait may be in store (3) service although overall excellent falls down because of the waiters assignments and allocation of staff. If you go, make it worth the time to enjoy their great milkshakes and numerous delicious pies! ) 9 20

Mammouth

By Kitty Mo |

Something of an institution. With people willing to queue. Not fussy about sitting inside or out we were seated quickly. It was very busy. The menu is big, mostly all American diner type dishes. We went for breakfast but my husband had to have the enormous cinnamon roll to start. It must be the biggest I have ever seen, served in melted butter. He wolfed the lot down followed by eggs, sausage and house potatoes with corn tortillas. I tried the fruit cup which was excellent and had the more modest salmon and cream cheese bagel. The orange juice is freshly squeezed and the nicest I think I have ever had. My husband cant wait to go back to try the peach pie.

Great home made pie

By Jim F |

We were unfamiliar with this restaurant, but it looked inviting so we decided to try it out. What a pleasant surprise! Their pie was truly made’ in house.’ No canned cream in our pieces of cream pie. The coconut cream pie was to die for. The chocolate cream pie was equally as good. We only had dessert but what we had certainly deserved five stars. If you are looking for a great piece of pie, I believe you cannot go wrong visiting Du-Par’s at 3rd and Fairfax. Highly recommended.

Old American vibe

By 171lydiat |

Stumbled into this very characteristic American diner at Farmers’ market. Ordered the signature petty melt burger which was quite tasty and the server refilled our coke which was nice! The restaurant has a long history and the decor looks like something from a typical Hollywood movie!

$17 for 3 pancakes and coffee

By Joel T |

I appreciate du-pars has a classical touch to it and history but the food quality, service and price just makes it not worth while. The food quality isnt great and often lacks seasoning and or any type of bold flavor. Selection is not that great and the quality of the food products is not very high. On the numerous occsasions i have been there the service is extremly lacking. The servers r all polite howerever they seem to all fail in checking up on their customers after food has been served. Its always a very long time before a drink is re-Filled or any server re visits your table. Lastly the price is wayy to expensive. For example a short stack (3) pancakes are $9.75 and a cup of coffee is $3.25.. Thats a $14.00 meal not including tax and tip. Even with leaving a cheap tip you spend $17 minimum for 3 pancakes and coffee.. Yeah its just to much for not enough... I wouldent reccomend this place unless u like over priced flavorless food and long waits with lacking service.

Not happy.

By Mary W |

I always come here when I bring my groups. Today I got a ice tea and it didn't taste right. I had asked the waiter if there was a different container of tea, he brings a different glass. Still the tea tasted bad. I asked for a lemonade to go instead of the tea and was charged for the tea and lemonade. I asked him why the extra charge, he said that you can't switch drinks.. I had this happen once with the tea tasting bad and never was charged for the change. I had him take the drink back and take the charge off. Not sure I'm coming back next time.

Delicious

By Jill V |

Dupers Feels like your entering a cozy cottage. Inside and outside seating. Service was efficient and friendly. We had salmon and turkey, both were cook perfectly with tons of flavor. Loved the cream spinach. Mash Potatoes a little dry, but everything else was perfect! Good prices, generous portions, good service.

Great nostalgia and even better food.

By gjones801 |

The best chicken pot pie ever! Great nostalgic atmosphere with wonderful service. Everyone enjoyed their meal but my chicken pot pie was unbelievable!

it is a jewel in the crown that is Los Angeles. since the 1938!!!

By ladybrady007 |

I love this place so much AND they were open for thanksgiving which was fabulous. Thank you to Arturo, our wonderful server, and please have the boysenberry pie because it is sent from heaven. I don't believe there is a bad meal you could possibly have here, because it is a well-oiled machine -- take some pie to GO and buy some merch !! keep the dupar's dream going!!!

a great place to get pancakes or crapes

By Barry N |

Crapes is my wifes thing. and she got a bunch while here and love every bite . also they have some nice pastry items. but the pancakes are what made them famous. lots of tables nearby to sit and eat and enjoy the market. do not miss this place or the market when in L.A;.

Crazy delicious for what could be a tourist trap

By Duparker |

Wow. I've heard good things about them pancakes. They were better than expected. Great combination of fluffy and dense/cakey. The boysenberry syrup was amazing and the professional waiter tipped the scales. Just a great experience.

Yes, these are the best pancakes

By Suzanne A |

Being a fan of Michael Connelly, we visited Dupar's to see why Harry Bosch likes to eat here. We had been to the farmer's market before but did not know about Dupar's at the time. We arrived early on a Sunday morning (they are open 24/7) and there was no crowd. We got the pancakes and they were delicious. The best part is they are crunchy around the edges. It is definitely worth your while. You have to pay to park, but realized too late we could have had the ticket validated.

Something you've gotta try more than once

By Brian |

I wish I had known prior to me coming here, that they were known for their pancakes and chicken pot pie. I instead, ended up ordering a chicken noodle soup which was good, and I ordered two of their pies. Their pie selection is generous and I was excited to try them, which they definitely held their standard. Their coconut cream and peach pies were delicious, not overly sweet, hit the spot perfectly. Our server, Irving was also very understanding as we did not know what to order at first so him showing patience was considerate and kind of him. I really liked my experience here and I definitely will come back to try their famed chicken pot pie and "world best pancakes". Who knows, if they really hold their standard well, they just might be the best pancakes in all of LA. For now, this remains, to be continued.

Dissapointed Second Time

By Christine D |

We visited here a few years ago and we really enjoyed their soup, turkey sandwich and cherry pie combo meal and wanted to have it again (went back twice on that trip to LA). Terrible experience this time; the soup of the day was lentil (strongest flavor was pepper, but it was ok). The turkey lacked any type of seasoning, very bland so you needed to add salt and pepper, but also the bread was falling apart - soft to touch but so dry it broke up in your fingers - I bring this down to the quality of bread/the baker. As for the cherry pie which I looked forward to most of all, if they haven't changed the recipe then my taste buds have changed - the consistency of the cherry mixture was very runny, it was delivered to me oozing apart and couldn't hold its shape, just looked like a big mess on the plate. There was no tartness - it was just SUPER sweet. I only managed two bites and left the rest behind. Their service was also pretty bad this time -very slow and unfriendly. Du Pars has lost its shine and we wont be back.

Worth the trip for the pie!

By BrowsingRoadside |

I have always been a big fan of the pies at Du-pars, and this most recent trip didn't disappoint. The good news - the strawberry rhubarb pie and banana creme pie were pretty great... and actually the chocolate pie was a lot less sweet and more dense then I expected (better than chocolate pudding, which is what I was expecting). The not-so-great news, the coffee is kind of weak and not up to the quality of the pie, and what's worse - the whole "diner from another era" vibe - is somewhat spoiled by the smell of "old carpet." If there hadn't been a live band playing outside in the Farmer's Market, I would have definitely taken my pie and sat outside for some fresh air. The place is worth the trip to see and to have some dessert - I noticed the reviews for some of the food and the corresponding pricing seems to make it seem like it's not worth the trip. However, if you are in the Farmer's Market, and enjoy old diners - the pie makes it worth it (and I'm hoping Du-pars will read this review, and possibly clean - or just replace their carpeting).

Fresh, high quality Ingredients! Best pastries ever! Pancakes are a must!

By AnthonyNaylor |

I have been to this restaurant more times than I can count! It’s old school full service brings back a time when people could sit down and enjoy the Company of those around them. If I get their early enough I highly recommend the blue plate special. It is also the only place I would go to sober up after late night after partying! They have a complete menu 24 hrs so everyone is happy. The Harris beef steak is just perfect when I want to splurge a little, but normally I get the tri-tip and cheddar sandwich (a little A1 takes this up a notch) Can’t wait to get back. I can always sleep well afterward due to their generous portions and home cooked flavors. Love DuPars

Gone downhill

By traveltime111 |

This is an iconic LA restaurant but has gone downhill in my experience. I was there for the famous pancakes which were very good-thick and fluffy but very expensive and not much better than I-HOP. The service was poor though being abrupt and indifferent. I also complained about a customer exposing himself in the restaurant and they refused to do anything about it. The place has old, tatty furniture and needs a major upgrade. Not worth the visit.

The Perfect Pancake

By darthkulot |

This place perfected pancakes, I'll tell you that. We had breakfast here almost everyday during our stay in LA. Couldn't get enough of their awesome breakfasts. Staff is very friendly and nice as well. Still dreaming of those pancakes!!

Nothing special...

By DuchessDi |

This Is a very well known old diner in farmer’s market. The food Is ok, nothing special. Big serving and too american. Next time, I Will probably opt for the restaurants or small chains at the Center (outdoor) OF the market.

Ok but not great

By Lalamandi0308 |

I was recommended to try this restaurant it was ok nothing great I ordered a burger with avocado and they say it was like eating cardboard No wifi in restaurant and no atmosphere I am bring generous with the two stars

Cool Retro Look

By Patty R |

This 75 year old diner is terrific. The retro look is very cool since it is authentic. We had some great sandwiches and apple pie. Very good.

Classic diner

By JoeOptimistik |

One of my favourite stops when passing through this area of LA. Highly recommended for the traveller. Nothing too fancy but heart warming food and pleasant atmosphere make it a classic American experience.

A really nice place that lives up to its reputation

By sicuani |

For a great breakfast meal in a nice atmosphere go to Du Par's at the Farmers Market. I had read about Du Par's in Roadfood and wanted to see if it lived up to its expectations. Came early for Breakfast around 7 30 AM on Sunday April 15th and my friend and I were seated immediately. Coffee was brought right over to us and the waitress, Drina gave us a few minutes to decide what we wanted. Pancakes and French toast and two eggs over easy, with some bacon were served quite quickly, along with one of Du Par's blueberry muffins. A highly tasty meal, we were not rushed and reasonably priced for this kind of atmosphere. It is worth walking around the Farmer's market and we did so.

This place is legendary

By Bradco2022 |

Great place to meet a friend and have breakfast, I used to eat here in the 1960's. Nothing has changed. Food is still great

Average breakfast, slow service

By Bhsach |

We had the pancakes. There is nothing special to note about them, they're pancakes, but like everything else in this area, they're overpriced. They are a good size. We both got the short stack and we're unable to finish it. The waiter never came back to offer drink refills. It took forever to get the check. If they turned the tables a bit faster, maybe the line to get in wouldn't be as long. 🤷

First stop when in LA

By mzlaura1 |

Whenever I'm flying into LAX I head straight to Du-Pars for breakfast. Good food, the ground beef patty is yummy and unique. I love the markets at the back, its nice to wonder around.

Good for lunch

By Lena K |

My sister & I hadn't been to Du-par's Restaurant since the Covid pandemic began in 2019. It was delightful to return. Liza had the Tuna Melt sandwich with fries; I chose the Veggie Burger with mixed fruit. We decided to have our lunch in the patio, since the weather was in the mid-70s.

80 Years of Doing it Right

By HowdyDoody4 |

What more can be said about an LA restaurant staple that’s been delivering the same great food, service, and ambiance for 80 years that hasn’t already been said? Not much, other than keep on doing what you’ve been doing! At the southeast corner of another Los Angeles institution, the Original Farmer’s Market, Du-Par’s is a diner staple: A huge menu that includes great bakery items, terrific pancakes, the Blue Plate Special and, of course, pies, pies, and more pies. If you can’t find something to enjoy here, well, that’s on you. The weather was lovely, so we resisted the urge to slide into a comfy red leather booth. Instead, we sat outside at a covered table in a treed and fenced-in patio far enough away from the Fairfax Ave. traffic as to not be noticeable. Service was prompt and friendly. While there are many wonderful food options inside the Original Farmer’s Market, all well worth sampling, you can’t beat the experience of dining at this classic eatery.

An island of calm in the frenetic Farmers' Market

By BirdBikingBuddha |

Good and plenty comfort food in a hardwood classic sit-down restaurant out of the 60's. Attentive and fast service, average(rhubarb pie crust) -to-outstanding (blue-berry muffin/hash browns) food. Prices quite reasonable - especially given that the adjoining Market is such a tourist hot-spot. If you can't choose where to eat INSIDE the Farmers' Market, try this Los Angeles classic outside.

Classic lunch menu, huge portions, good food

By Stan K |

A fine lunch at the Farmer's Market! The eggs benedicts (one was crab cakes, one was salmon) were both huge and delicious. Service was fine, but the kitchen itself was a bit slow. All in all it was a good lunch, and that's all we were looking for.

Great outdoor seating, menu and friendly staff

By Rosanne D |

Had a great meal and service. Had great eggs Benedict traditional. My friend had eggs Benedict Florentine also quite good. It was a beautiful day and we sat long after finished eating. .staff assuredus no problem

Average breakfast

By Shanna A |

We were pretty excited to visit this place while staying nearby. I ordered French toast and paid extra for berry compote. The French toast was fine. Just average. The compote was served cold and looked like blueberry filling from a can. It was completely edible and I did eat it all. But I just don’t feel like this place lived up to the hype. Everyone else in my party ordered pancakes and thought it was average as well. I wish I could leave a better review. I just feel like people should have realistic expectations of this place. We thought it would be the best breakfast we would have on this trip and maybe in a long time. And it was neither. If you want breakfast, go here if it’s close. I wouldn’t drive out of the way to go here.

Comfort Food!

By californiagirl53 |

You can always count on the food to be delicious! The chicken noodle soup has huge chunks of chicken breast and the noodles taste home made. But everything is good like a home cooked meal! The food and service is consistently good.

Peak Pancake

By schroederjt |

We went here for breakfast early in the morning because we had tickets for The Price is Right, and we were parking at The Grove. I was expecting a basic diner breakfast - but the pancakes here, oh my goodness - they really are exceptional. They were so delicious that we returned to have them a second time for dinner later that night. The other items on the menu were fine - nothing to write home about - but those pancakes were the best I think I've ever had. In my life. Peak pancake.

Nice staff, disappointing pie.

By Katie S |

After having lunch nearby, we decided to try the pie at Du-par's. They looked amazing! We got strawberry creme pie and apple pie. Let's just say they looked a lot better than they tasted. I was disappointed because the ratings on trip advisor were good. The staff was nice but I don't think I would go back.

Very Disappointing

By sharonannie22 |

We stopped in for a light bite around dinner time and shared a BLT sandwich, which was poorly constructed and not very tasty. The mushy cole slaw was floating in a bowl of dressing. This place is an old style "Americana" restaurant but the food was overpriced for what we got. Our waitress was a character who made our visit somewhat entertaining but didn't make up for the food.

GOOD EATS

By Charles B |

Well my family and I were on a bus tour so we had limited time to eat. This place is in the original farmers market which has many things to see and eat. took us 20 minutes to find someplace to eat. didn’t find what we were looking for so we chose this place. I want to thank Walter our server for his fast service with our order. We got our orders in to go boxes and partly ate at the table. He understood our time constraints and was a great help. Pricing is on the high side but not to bad. The food was good and filling. We all had burgers with fries my wife had coleslaw. I rarely give 5 star but Walter gave exceptional customer service. I find that service lacking into days service industry. He also got a tip to reflect my gratitude. Thanks Again Walter.

As good as 45 years ago, maybe better!

By ColoradoBeerMan |

LOVED IT! Hadn't been back here since I was a kid. The red leather booths are still there and still comfy. And everything was excellent. Pancakes were some of the best I've had in a restaurant. The portions, especially the Combo Plate, were huge. The Strawberry Cream Pie was amazing (but the fresh peach was just OK.) Service was very professional and helpful. We're definitely going back with more of the family!

Good pancakes

By Luxetravel23 |

Nice, thick and fluffy pancakes. Servings are huge! 2 of us could hardly finish 3 pancakes. Seems to have a lot of regulars there.

Exactly as I remembered this wonderful restaurant!

By Dorothee |

DuPars was a popular place to go when I was a kid in the 60's. I've been back a few times since leaving the Valley and hadn't been to the Farmer's Market location for over 50 years. But it was like coming home. Great service, consistent food and retro atmosphere. My husband had a chef's salad and loved it. I had a tuna melt, also excellent. We went for breakfast the next day and had two favorites...french toast and a short stack. Bothportions were huge and when we're in the area again we will share!

The home of comfort food!

By melinda311 |

Amidst the cacophony of the newly expanded Grove with its constant parade of people, new stores and largely inferior and/or overpriced restaurants Du-Pars is always there with its hot cakes, maple syrup, delicious eggs always cooked the way you want, multiple homemade pie selections and other comfort food. Comfort is true and it's one of the remaining old standards that reminds you of the old days of the Farmers Market

Come for the memories, stay for the food

By Janike1 |

Of course we came for the nostalgia, but the food was worth the trip down memory lane. This is a diner, so don't look for it to pretend to be something else. We had an awesome server who quickly snagged the last boysenberry pie for us that we wanted to take to go, so that no one would beat us to it (and would have caused us an hour wait for another one to come out of the oven). It is expected that this 24 hour eatery would have dated interiors because that is exactly what allows it's quirky charm and character to emerge. The pancake were some of the best I have had, and I am pancake finicky. Du-Par's is a food hug and I imagine just about everything else on the menu will deliver the homespun comfort diners seek.

Great breakfast food!

By Ejpjap |

Great breakfast food. Portions are HUGE. Price can’t be beat. We will definitely be back if ever in the LA area again.

Disappointing Eats in L.A.

By D. N |

Known for its pancakes and french toast, which did not appeal to me, I ordered Clam Chowder. It was okay but very heavily laden with cream. It was pricey. My friend ordered a tuna melt and the tuna was said to be fresh but it was probably canned. The French Toast did not disappoint the guy who ordered it so there was 1 out 3 who was satisfied.

A Pasadena fine family resta

By Marianne M |

I keep coming back to this restaurant when I'm in Pasadena. There is no question, when looking for great home style cooking, quality and fresh food and reasonable prices, this is the place. Generous portions. Centrally located to businesses and shopping, you can stop in for a great bite to eat. Family friendly with excellent service too. And open late! There is a parking lot behind the restaurant.

Discrimination

By koolkatkay015 |

This is a terrible restaurant. They are fully discriminatory against people with service dogs. I came with my service dog and they said that I could either sit outside or away from the kitchen. I asked if there was anyone else to talk with and when they brought them out they said that those were the policies and what the health department says. I told them that if you have people sitting there then I can sit there with my service dog. They then while we were arguing took a party of two immediately back to a table. When we asked about the empty tables that they had they said that those tables in the middle of the restaurant were too close to the kitchen. I told him that this was straight discrimination and he said we could argue all day. So I left without even leaving because I didn’t want to sit outside or in the back of the restaurant like there was something wrong with me for having a disability.

A Taste of "Yesterday" That Tastes Like Yesterday

By SmarterBear |

Ask any local native about Du-par’s and you might be regaled with stories about when they came here as a child. A good time to do this is on the weekend when the line is at least an hour long. While this historic 24-hour coffee shop is known for its generally tasty menu selections, frankly, it is nothing special in the 21st century for those seeking a less nostalgic meal. Yet people still wait with their misbehaving kids for soggy French toast, so-so burger plates, garden-variety breakfasts, etc. The interior is often a bit grungy and the space between the booth seats and table edge is uncomfortably narrow for those of us who aren’t. Take my advice: Go into the Farmer’s Market behind Du-par’s, grab an open table, and have a fresh crepe filled with anything you desire. It’ll be ready in minutes and entirely worth the wait – if any, of course.

Delicious pancakes described by my lovely wife as "perfect"

By Tracey I |

The reputation of this place is well deserved. We went here on a tour bus break at the awesome Farmer's Market and were seated within 15 minutes. To start, the coffee was above average and piping hot. I got the Corned beef hash and eggs with a side of pancakes (we got the three stack) and my lovely wife got the Cobb salad with avocado which she described as incredibly fresh. The pancakes were the highlight and all I can say is to just try them. This is a highlight of the Farmer's Market which is an amazing place in and of itself and if you cannot decide where to eat, you can always go with the sure thing in Du-pars.

Hearty homestlyle

By Triny41 |

My family likes to eat, and this restaurant serves you many options for a complete meal that is sure to satisfy you. You must try their breakfasts and ask for their homemade bread. The waiter was wonderful and got all our orders correct, with the special requests of each person in our group.

A great breakfast!!!!

By marshateru |

My husband and I went to Du-par's this morning for breakfast, which was the first time in over 9 years. We had decided on Du-par's because we hadn't gone in over 9 years. We arrived about 8:30 or 9:00 and were seated right away. Service was prompt, our waiter was very cordial and efficient. I ordered hot green tea and my husband ordered coffee, which he said was wonderful! My husband ordered the Traditional Benedict, which he said was wonderful. I ordered Corned Beef Hash and eggs over medium with hash browns. The Corned Beef Hash was delicious!!!! The eggs and hash browns were perfect! Everything was perfect!!!

Delicious breakfast! No wait.. and we were a party of 9!!

By Misty |

I cannot say enough about how delicious our breakfast was a Du-Pars!! Eggs Benedict was amazing! Pancakes and French toast were fabulous! Great place to celebrate a 40th birthday with yummy breakfast. Large portions. Fast service. Can’t wait to go back!! Highly recommend. Fun to walk around the farmers market too!!

PANCAKES!!!

By starfighter56 |

Went to Du-Pars last Sunday and it was as enjoyable as usual. As I was horribly jetlagged I popped by at around 6AM. The place was half full! Excellent service, my waiter was warm, funny and friendly. I ordered the "full stack" and he gently advised that two pancaked would be more then enough for me haha. He was right, the pancakes were delicious, service terrific and after loads of coffee I felt so much better. Visited twice this trip and service was excellent both times, food as well.

We can't visit LA without going to Du-par's, a true classic.

By Sildero |

There is a reason why this restaurant has been here since 1930-something the food is excellent. I had the traditional eggs benedict and hashbrowns and they were perfect, cleaned my plate. I also had the best Arnold Palmer I have ever had here. Try the pancakes for sure. We didn't have the pie but it looked delicious. The rye toast was made fresh in the bakery and it was fantastic. The restaurant is Farmer's Market/The Grove adjacent so you could eat and then walk it off. The whole area is an experience in itself, consider this an LA must-do. Our server was attentive but the restaurant was busy so the food took awhile, we didn't care because we enjoyed the people watching. You come here for the experience not a quick meal. Inside and outside dining.

Want consistent great simple meals? History is in their corner. Breakfast is always your best meal of the day and here is where to start your day...if for no other reason than to dine where Cary Grant and Bob Hope and most other Hollywood classics did go for the old school vibe

Delicious!

Delicious food… I got the open face turkey sandwich and my son got the spaghetti and meatballs. Both were yummy! They are in an active area, so people watching from the patio was fun.

Very friendly service (server, Carolina, was the best), good breakfast menu (eggs and pancakes, etc.), fresh OJ, validated parking. Very busy and tasty food, was taken here by my LA friend, one of his favorites in the area. Always nice walking around the Market and the Grove as well.

Just okay

We picked this place because it had good air conditioning and a menu of comfort food. We had potato skins and chicken strips. The food was okay, service was good.

An All Time Favorite

I have been going to Dupar's for more years than I can remember and have never had less than an outstanding meal there. The best meal for me there is breakfast (any time of day). Where else can you get fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh never frozen hashed brown potatoes, farm fresh eggs, and pancakes with warm maple syrup. I love this place!

Very happy - good food

We went to the Original Farmers Market as part of our first visit to LA and went in here for the air conditioning and the (extensive) interesting looking menu. We were very happy with the quality of the food and of the service. It has nice ambience and, as we found out, a lot of very good pies!

Excellent buttermilk pancakes!

By ajayp226 |

We had a Sunday breakfast at Du-Pars on W 3rd Street this morning. We got there just after 9am and there already was a line. We waited for about 20mins before being seated inside. Our order: a short stack (3) of buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup, two eggs w/ pork sausages and a couple of glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice. The pancakes were amazing! But I still don’t know how people eat a full stack…they are ginormous! The eggs and sausage were pretty decent. I’m not a huge fan of the hash browns though (just a personal preference). Customer service was great and the location is awesome (just at the entrance of The Original Farmer’s Market). Highly recommended.

Best pancakes ever!

Delicious breakfast and felt like a taste of an LA institution. Great value and set up for the day - portions are large!

Excellent Food, Service...meh!

By charylec |

Not sure if the staff is just exhausted from the holidays,or what? Food was delicious, but service was under par. A bit stand offish and a feeling of being rushed caused my lower rating. Perhaps this is simply the "vibe" of LA these days?

A disappointing meal with average food and poor service. Go to the nearby food court instead.

What a disappointment after hearing of this as an LA landmark. Food was nothing special and the service was horrible. Our waiter only came to the table when flagged down, including to greet us after sitting for 15 minutes. Our choice of Dupars was especially disappointing after we left and walked past all the other great looking restaurants in the Farmers Market food court.

CALIFORNIA'S Best Pot Pie!!!

By Pam C |

This is without a doubt the absolute best homemade pot pies ever..baked on site...located in the Los Angeles Farmers market.. so you do have to pay for parking..but well worth it..No reservations required. ..It has the feel of a local cafe or diner ..causal dress...ooohhh don't even get me started on the portion sizes at this resturant...pancakes bigger than both my hands spread out...yet this place is affordable ...with down to earth good eats... fast and friendly service with a smile..

Comfort food, good service, cosy

By Elizabeth Kay Nyigor |

We just got off an 18 hour flight and it was pretty late. We needed a place to refuel after settling in, and lucky for us, Du-par's was nearby. It was my fiance's first time in the US, and it was needless to say we wanted an "all american" meal, and we got it here. The service was great, we tipped without thought. The food was warm, a lot and delicious. Loved the sausages and the clam chowder! It's right next to the farmer's market and I also believe it's open 24/7. Highly recommended

Best pancakes in the World—You bet

By cathi r |

OK...I’ll admit it—I do not like pancakes!! But the menu said that these were the world’s best pancakes. I had to go there. When the pancakes arrived with a container of hot butter (swoon), and delicious syrup you could only hope that they would be worthy!! They were quite simply the best pancakes ever!!

Yummy comfort food

I'd never heard of the place but went with friends. Food was excellent. Portions were very generous and I was even more excited to find out they had recently opened a restaurant near me in San Diego.

Traditional comfort food

Attached to farmers market, comfortable seating area, although famous for pancakes we had a more traditional lunch than brunch. Sandwiches huge and stuffed, bottomless coffee as well as their apparently famous fruit pies. Certainly a good option for sit down food in farmers market.

Pie to die for

By Steven N |

Ever since I accidentally discovered the Chicken Pot Pie by Dupar’s, it seems that I would not go without it whenever I arrive in Los Angeles. My frequent outlet at Ventura Blvd unfortunately closed a few months ago so I had to travel to the Farmer’s Market to satisfy my cravings. Even with only a couple of hours before flying off to Saltlake City, I dashed there to buy home a quick pot pie lunch for my family. The crust is light and fluffy with chunks of chicken in it complimented by a thick gravy that is superbly tasty.

Home of the patty melt

By faceofweed |

I was under the presumption that this was the original location and was sad to discover the original had closed. Ordered the patty melt with fries. Would have loved a beer but they don't serve alcohol. The patty melt was very good, though I do prefer Cassell's more.

Good but over-priced

By 2fortheRoad_60 |

Stopped by for breakfast. Food was good but Denny's is just as good for less. $15 for bacon and eggs?

Ginormous delicious pancakes

By Hobb51 |

We came here as a final food stop before flying back to London, and chose this diner due to great reviews. Pancakes the size of your plate, covered in butter and served with maple syrup. Delicious. Definitely being your appetite! Our waiter was a bit grumpy (we all have off days though..) but was shocked and impressed when he saw my boyfriend polish off the large stack! Quick service and good American style food. Seemed popular with both locals and tourists.

Great Breakfast

I tried breakfast here while I was in California. Great little cafe with fast friendly service. Typical American breakfast. Great pancakes and French Toast. The prices are great too.

A M A Z I N G

Five stars is an understatement!! this place was so so good. although there was a little wait for a table, once we were seated our waiter, Lorenzo was super kind and attentive. the place was clean and the service fast. old hollywood themed restaurant. my french toast was TO DIE FOR. my daughter got hot cakes and they were delicious! the amount of food for the price was huge!! neither of us could finish our food. the bacon was so yummy, very meaty, not all fatty. ask for lorenzo!!! he’ll take great care of you!

Great breakfast!

We'd heard/seen this place in the "Harry Bosch" books so thought we'd give it a try. Pancakes were claimed to be world's best, and they indeed were great. Fruit plate was also excellent. Environment a bit plain but good enough. Is in the LA Farmers market with many other interesting dining options.

Best pancakes!

By Sarah_L830 |

My family and I went to Du-Pars on a recent trip to LA. We had a fantastic experience! I'm not sure about the other food because we all had the pancakes, but the pancakes were amazing! Probably the best we have ever had. Fun spot for breakfast in LA!

Great american breakfast

The servings have good size and the eggs benedict are delicious! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. I know it is not the traditional food to ask for there, but I loved it! The bacon is perfect as well! Excellent choice for breakfast!

The Best Breakfast in All of LA

By Reggie T |

When in LA, it is a must that I go to Du-par's for breakfast at least once. The pancakes are to DIE for. The fluffiest, not just in LA, but all of America (I think). Everything is always so fresh and delicious. Our waiter was a little disappointing, this time around, but I'll come back hopefully getting someone different. The host made up for in offering us attention that the waiter was lacking.

Good restaurant in wonderful location

My friend and I decided to have brunch at this Farmer's Market location. We enjoyed our omelettes and blueberry muffins.

Bucket list pancakes

By chrismvee |

We met a friend from L.A. at Du-Par's for breakfast to try their famous pancakes and boysenberry syrup. Du-Par's was on my "Harry Bosch" bucket list (restaurants the character in the book series eats at regularly), and it lived up to expectations. Excellent breakfast with good service, and it was fun to visit the famous Farmer's Market. We arrived about 9 a.m. on a Saturday, and there was no wait to secure a table on the patio. The restaurant validated our parking ticket, which paid for the better part of the parking fee (we were there a while since catching up with our friend). Unfortunately, we didn't have any room to try their famous pie. Guess we'll have to go back?!

Great service and home cooked breakfast

By Susan K |

Even though they are known for their pancakes and waffles, having a gluten problem limits my breakfast choices. Jose, our waiter quickly made suggestions as possibilities and checked in before the cook began to prep my meal. Wonderful soft boiled eggs on corn tortillas, sauce on the side, beans- yummy. My husband enjoyed his french toast. Today we passed to have a second breakfast before leaving L.A. and there was a line out the door. Despite being crowded when we visited, we did not feel rushed and thought the service was excellent. Thanks Jose!
