Good bar quick easy food

By deesimone |

Found this place down from where were staying. Bar with quick easy reasonably priced food. Full of twenty somethings however found a booth and had nice chicken tacos and a cocktail. Cocktails are $10 general spirits $9 Chicken tacos $11 for 3 They had these large cocktails for $30 that would do 4 to 6 people. Shame i didnt have my girlfriends there they would have loved it. Xx Anyways good spot for dinner and a few drinks. Server was run off her feet but was attending us when needed

Great for Sandwiches and Drinks

By RicRei |

Went to the Duck Dive for a sandwich and a few drinks. Walking distance from where we were staying. Service was excellent, $5 dollar wings for this night that went well with a burger that I got. Perfect for a quick meal in Pacific Beach. I agree if your older, go early before the younger crowd gets there. Then, Its Party Time.

Amazing Customer Service and Food

By Jeanna M |

We visited on a Friday night and even though it was busy our waitress was AMAZING. The food was great. I had mahi mahi and it was soooo fresh. I believe either the manager or owner came to our table and asked if our kids wanted the S'more bar on the house. It made the kids so excited. What an awesome experience and they made us feel like family. We can't wait to go back so we can eat there again! Thank you DUCK DIVE!! :) -- Wyoming Family

So sad to leave Duck Dive!

By Sally K |

We stayed at Pacific Terrace Hotel, which is three blocks from Duck Dive. We ate there four times during our stay, which is a testament to how good the food and drinks were. The atmosphere is family and fun and beachy. The drinks were bottomless (add five happy faces) and the food was delicious. Great customer service.

Food is Excellent!!!

By mrbeefjerkey |

We loved this place and recommended to any and all in the area. We tried couple different fish tacos and totally best in area. Their Guacamole dip and chips are amazing. Great local brews and super staff. Do yourself a favor and eat here!

Surprising

By debarilaw |

This bar and grill is way better than it looks. It looks like a dive, but its food and beverages punch above their weight class.

Great food & service

By PennySlotsAZ |

Our group had the sea bass, fish & chips, and ahi salad. It was all delicious! We sat on the patio which was quieter than inside. Will definitely eat here again.

Disappointing to say the least...

By kcfan_2004 |

We were looking for a place with a good steak of some variety and the location we were staying at did not have many options. After looking at several options in the neighborhood I came across this place and saw they had prime rib. Seeing as most of the places did not have any variety of beef we decided to give it a shot. I was sorely disappointed. The prime rib cost $16 for a decent size cut but is only served medium temperature. It also comes with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The potatoes were cold and the prime rib was lukewarm at best. It did not have much flavor or seasoning on it and when I asked for the au jus that was supposed to come with it, I was served what seemed like some pan drippings mixed with water. It has NO taste whatsoever and was very thin/watery. The best part of the whole meal was the "seasonal" vegetables which consisted of zucchini, yellow squash, a few mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. It was a nice temperature and seasoned very well. They appeared to be out of many items and their "happy hour" prices are not the greatest for most beverages. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for prime rib or excellent service. There were only 6-8 customers in the place with a staff of at least 5-6 but the service was slow and non attentive and the waitress brought us the wrong check at the end.

The perfect place for game day grub and drinks.

By Natalie |

We visited for the holiday celebrations after hearing positive reviews. Our goal was to sample the seasonal drinks and catch an NFL game. Thankfully, even on a busy weekend afternoon during the holidays, we were seated promptly. The place feels spacious with plenty of booth and bar seating, plus it's dog-friendly. There are multiple TVs streaming various sports games, and the holiday decorations add a fun and welcoming vibe. The hostess was friendly, guiding us through the holiday specials and offering great recommendations from the drink menu. We tried their festive specials: The Last Spirit, a peppermint Patty-like drink in a sip, Merry Yesterday, a fruity delight served in a snowman mug, and Fezziwig's Ball, creamy with playful flavors. As for food, the Duck Fat Fries were crispy perfection, perfect for game-time snacking. Overall, they went beyond our expectations. It's a bar worth visiting for good drinks and food, especially during game days.

so so

The place looks nice and the enviroment is good, but the options of food it is not so good, and there were people screaming, the security take some time to do something.

Best Bloody Mary

By ManchesterJessDunc |

We only had time for one drink but that one drink was delicious. I had a Bloody Mary and it was one of the best I've ever had, can't wait to come back on our next trip with more time!

Best. Fish. Taco's. Ever.

By LizzyB01 |

Wow, came here on a Monday night for Fish Tacos and it was soooo delicious, that we went back Tuesday night! we didn't stay that close, but went out of our way to eat it AGAIN! lucky for us it was Taco Tuesday so it cost $1.50 each! so we could have even more.... Go early enough so you can catch Happy Hour, then everything is cheaper, I believe up to 6 pm... nice coctails etc... LOVED this place. Even their kids meals are delicious !

Loved the prime rib!

By Kent S |

My wife and I had the prime rib dinner for our 15th anniversary, and it was outstanding! The price was good, the service solid, and the seating comfy. We loved it!

Good drinks good food college crowd

By kantbyluv |

Are the chicken wings fried in duck fat I was afraid of how it would taste but it was delicious . They had a little kick to them but not too spicy and generous portions. I ate at the bar and the restaurant was busy at both tables and bar. Service was great Armando was aware of if my drink was running low and got my food right away

Great food, great service

By Geoff S |

My wife and I went here twice during our stay near Mission Beach. On each occasion the food and service was excellent. On the first occasion, Taco Tuesday during happy hour, we enjoyed inexpensive tacos for starters, the Mahi taco being especially good, and for the entrees we had the fish of the day (swordfish) and the filet mignon. Both were superb. Washed down with inexpensive Sauvignon Blanc and Malbec, the meal was a delight. Atmoshere was lively and friendly and our delightful server, Katrina, was helpful, friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the meal so much we returned two days later for the same menu!! Great place to eat, with good value delicious food.

Xenophobic Experience

By katie |

We came here to enjoy bottomless mimosas for a friend's 23rd birthday on Saturday (It was a party of 20). One person in our party is from out of the country and his International ID was declined by the security and our friend was told it would not be accepted. He also showed a photo of his passport and they also said that would not be accepted and he would not be allowed to drink. So we all sat down at our table and everyone was confused why a person who was of legal drinking age would not be allowed to drink, after providing government issued proof of their age. We asked our waiter (who was very kind) if there was anything he could do to help our friend, and he responded "yes of course, I'll see what I can do." Our waiter left and then the security and manager came back over to our table and told our friend he had to leave. He asked if he could go all the way home, grab his passport and then come back if that would solve the problem and they said "nope, you have to leave right now." They said he was being kicked out and refused to serve him any food. Our friend then had to call an uber and was standing up right next to our table (which was outside and on a public sidewalk) to wait for his uber. The security then came over and told him he was not allowed to stand there and forced him to walk further down the street away from the restaurant (despite it being a public sidewalk where he was standing). After this, all of us in the party made a gigantic fuss and we're reasonably extremely upset and the supposed "owner" was seen standing at the hostess stand laughing and staring at all of us. It was extremely disrespectful, xenophobic, discriminatory behavior that I have never before experienced at a restaurant in San Diego. WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND.

Best chix tenders

By cscac |

These were the BEST chicken tenders I’ve ever had! We ordered takeout but I’d love to return and eat at this cute/happening place.

Winner every time

By mwgarvey |

From SD to Malibu, I love Duck Dive. Food and fun, great beer and nothing says yum like duck and eggs.

Yummy tacos!

By travelers1008 |

We ate here twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner and drinks. Both were great! The tacos were my favorite.

Pacific Beach - Just a salad, but world class

By Peggy A |

We ordered a wilted spinach and steak salad and the filet that was served was some of the best beef I've ever eaten. We ordered take out after a long day on the beach and were sorry we couldn't let the server and cook know how delicious it was!

Great Mahi Mahi tacos

By Muncie_IN_JohnB |

Just flew in - room at Pacific Terrace not quite ready. "Need a beer and some food" - walk 2 blocks down, one block over - Duck Dive. Open air, cold beer, good food, friendly bartender. Winner. Finished up 2nd beer - room ready. That's what I call good service!

Nice location and great food!

By Ginger D |

The food was very good. The drinks even better! The location and overall feel of the place was perfect. I had the spicy chicken sando, the flavors mixed so well together. The fries are delicious! I don’t know if it was the fat they used or what but I could have ate an entire second plate of them. The cocktail menu was good. The peach beach is by far the best craft cocktail I’ve had in a long while. Only thing lacking was the staff, while super friendly and helpful, we needed to get up and call them over if we needed something. It wasn’t busy and they were doing a few duties as a group, but each time we had to seek them out (only about 3 times). Wouldn’t stop me from coming back though!!!

Not impressed

By IlliniPride |

My husband and I shared the grilled mahi tacos and the fried shrimp tacos. The shrimp ones were far better than the mahi ones which had no flavor at all. The Duck Fat Fries were tasty but not enough to make it worth recommending on the whole.

Terrific Taco Tuesday!!!

By Lee-Stroud L |

We visited on the whim and tried searching for a local spot. The Duck Dive did not disappoint; everything from the atmosphere, the service, and the tacos were AMAZING!!! We also tried the Spinach dip and the table side s'mores....AWESOME!!!!

Very Young Crowd

By Chris C |

My girlfriend and I want to this bar on a Saturday night. It was fun, loud and had a lot of energy. Everyone was friendly and the drinks where strong which is not always the case in tourist areas. We are in our mid 40's and I think we where the oldest people in the place by far. Most seemed to be mid 20ish. That being said we where made to feel welcome.

Second visit of the year and still as good

By Scotsgirl73 |

We visited San Diego in February this year and enjoyed Duck Dive. We were worried about service and availability due to it being peak season when we returned in July but it was fine. We visited 3 times during our recent trip. There were different waiting staff and one of the waitresses got ALL of our drinks wrong but other than that, the service was good. The food was great - the burger is to die for. Great choices for kids. Popular with surfers. Would avoid at night/weekends if you have kids though as it tends to be full of surfers/college jocks/cheerleaders drinking cocktails out of fish bowls and getting smashed!

Nice place.

By Matthew L |

We went there to grab some food. The food was good and the staff very nice. It was a nice experience for our family.

good fish, great service

By Swandawg |

We only ate here once but would go back. We had great service and good food. I had some kind of fish and it was delicious. The place is only a block away from the ocean and it's an open concept restaurant so it feels very comfortable.

Great food. Great drinks. Fun atmosphere

By Cassie P |

Four of us went to dinner at the Duck Dive. Service was great! The food was delicious and the drinks were good! We started with the scallop ceviche which was a little small but very good. I had the blackened Mahi sandwich and it was very good. The fries were also good but I was so full I didnt finish them. Two at the table that had the burgers and they were very good and big. The fourth person had the fish tacos which she said were average and needed some kind of sauce. We had a Moscow Mule and a drink special that had muddled blackberries, vodka and ginger beer. They were both delicious and not "weak" bar drinks. We were able to sit on the patio and enjoy our meals and drinks. I would definitely return and recommend Duck Dive as a casual laid back atmosphere.

VERY yummy freash food.

By BoyMom G |

I was here for breakfast and a bloody mary. I can not complain. I had the turkey, bacon benni. SOOOOO good. They like to use avocado on many dishes. The fruit is extremely freash and sweet. Fun environment.

Best taco happy hour

By Jay D |

Top quality food at stupid cheap prices amazing atmosphere top services can't say enough about the place and need to try the duck fat French fries and wings

GREAT meatloaf but truly a beach dive type bar. Fun!

By tucsonjan |

The meatloaf was amazing. But if you are a "older" person, go early before the youngen's hit especially on the weekends.

Didin't expect much

By Guide534492 |

Wow, were we wrong! The food was far better than what we were expecting. The fish tacos were so delicious, possibly the best I've ever had. I had tacos at other restaurants ad was very disappointed. The french fries were crispy and flavorful even when they got cold. The service was a little slow, not enough staff, our waitress, Abigail, took care of everyone the best she could and was so delightful that we didn't care.

Oysters

By Anne P |

We had duck fries, oysters Rockefeller, and beer steamed mussels. Happy hour was HALF PRICE! I have never had such delicious oysters.

Fun place

By daverburgess |

Great menu, House burger is to die for. Staff were very good, and a bonus on this trip was the Cali Creamin Vanilla Ale....pure delight.

Great spot a block from Pacific Beach.

By MaryAnn B |

A block off of Pacific Beach. Late lunch and had a great meal with the Duck Dive version of Oysters Rockefeller and black and blue steak salad. Very good service. Comfortable pub feeling. Reasonable pricing.

Noisy, fun place!

By karen m |

We entered this small, quaint restaurant only to find nothing open but the bar. It was so casual but the food was SO good! We had mahmahi tacos and tuna wontons which were out of this world! The seasoning was perfect...the tacos were corn so gluten free and the drinks were delicious! We had wonderful service and felt very welcomed! It was very noisy with everyone having a great time so if you want quiet, romantic....no but if you want a good meal with a fun atmosphere, go for it!

Duck Dive Pacific Beach California

By braditaliano |

Always good food, drinks, service! Beach cruise stop. Awesome Mezcal Palomas. Never take a weekly cruise without a stop at the Duck Dive.

Surprisingly good salads

By bumpkin13 |

Stopped in for a late lunch. Both of us ordered a salad (asian chicken and the Duck Dive salads). They were both HUGE and chocked full of the the additional ingredients besides the greens. Waitress was pleasant and helpful. Open front to Mission Blvd to let in lots of fresh air. Nice selection of beverages. Food was better than you would expect.

nights out

By azoutdoors64 |

Brian and Tyler were excellent bartenders. Friendly and personable. Fun bar. Great location. Had decent live music on a Wed.

Great Happy Hour! Get Duck Fries!

By TikiTravels |

Great place to get a few craft cocktails and beers on Happy Hour! Friendly staff and bartenders make you feel welcome. They offer $4 off all Happy Hour Snacks. I got a huge plate of duck fries and duck wings. Amazing fries with aoli, roasted tomato aoli and a special ketchup for dipping. The duck wings came out in a slightly sweet mandarin sauce but you can choose other coatings. Portions were huge. Bring a friend. Music is great and there's a juke box. Great stop especially if on business. I also tried their rum craft cocktail which was great. A block from the ocean. $5 well drinks, $3.50 Pacificos and $5 craft drinks. Can't complain.

Vacation

By william k |

I visited Duck Dive numerous times during my vacation for breakfast, lunch and dinner including stops for a late night cocktail. Each visit the food, service and staff were exceptional. The staff, from management on down were always friendly and accommodating. I would especially like to mention the hostess Ari who always greeted us with a smile and was extremely helpful. I would also like to mention the following individuals who always went above and beyond in making our visit pleasant, busser Rohan, and bartenders Kyle and Kevin Vargas. I would highly recommend Duck Dive to anyone traveling to San Diego.

Very bad racist

By Rachal A |

The manager was s racist, he didn’t even allow is to stay for lunch even though all of the others were given a free pass to stay for lunchtime

Good sports bar

By Robert C B |

This is a good sports bar right in Pacific Beach. Fun place, good food, excellent service! Would definitely go back again.

Yummy for a dive, but super loud

By Tovan T |

We had late lunch/early dinner at The Duck Dive in Pacific Beach before heading back to L.A. Their duck fat-fried fries were good, but not duck-y enough for me. Homemade sauces (garlic aioli, roasted tomato aioli, and ketchup) were delish. Also love their duck wings because of the crispy skin, though the plum hoisin sauce was a touch too sweet for me and it was weird to see it served with a side of ranch. Kids split the burger and corn dog bites, and the husband had the meatloaf melt that he really enjoyed. We went during football playoffs, and found them blasting the game at full volume. It was pretty loud. Service was a bit slow because the place was super crowded.

Great location with fun events throughout the week

By Chimena C |

We enjoy coming here on the "quiet" nights. They have lovely food options that are different from the other options in the neighborhood. The meals are so big it is easy to split. Each night of the week they have something going on including live music.

go huskers!

By Christy Menendez |

its a husker bar! coming from NE i was able to watch the game on the beach with other local fans! so great. good food. unlimited mimosa's and bloody marys during the game. it was great. awesome staff and awesome location!!!

Local vibe and fantastic food

By Jane H |

This local restaurant has an inventive menu and fabulous food. Happy hour offers $5 fish tacos and $6 speciality margaritas. The bartender is wonderful and the whole experience makes this a good choice. Tons of TVs make this the place to be on game day.

Great Place for a Husker Game

By Jeff C |

Watched the Husker game here at the recommendation of some Nebraska friends who live in San Diego. The bar is nice. The beer selection if very good. Service was good. It is definitely a Husker bar on game day complete with red beers and Husker T-shirts for sale. I didn't eat there but the food certainly looked good and the portions were generous. Great area to walk around in before or after.

Great Choice

By William N |

So many places to choose from in the area, we had Brittany as waitress was great explained specials. Started with Oaster Rockefellers awesome. Then surf and turf double tails everything was great. Girls had the flight drinks and loved them.

Food has gone way downhill

By travelingfam5x |

Such a bummer. We live nearby and it used to be a family favorite. But after going here for years, this will be the last time. Dinner tonight was horrible. And service was sad. Took about 30 minutes to come out. The food used to be so good, creative, and it was a great place. We would go a few times a month. I was honestly surprised at how good the food was, for being a bar. But that's what kept us coming. They used to have farmers market special, created from seasonal items. And their burger was absolutely amazing. But sadly, no more. My burger tonight was on a stale bun with a few hunks of iceburg. A few onions and barely any pimento. Fries were cold and soggy. Clearly they let the good chefs go, short staffed the kitchen, and figured everyone is drunk so they won't notice. If you are young and looking for a nicer than average PB bar then this is your place. But don't be fooled by older reviews about the good food. We will not be back.

Good atmosphere, weak drinks

By MM4442 |

Good atmosphere in the bar, order beer, the cocktails are weak. Can’t speak to the food as we didn’t order any.

Pacific beach locals favorite bar.

By AlbertoMay |

Great place to meet local surfers. Good drinks, bad food, fun people. One block away from the beach.

It was Ok.

By elm7501 |

Based on the reviews we saw, we were excited to try this place. The food did not disappoint but the service was the worst we've had in a Long time. In all fairness, we had a new server but she Definitely should not have been on her own yet and it really did ruin our experience! There is good food elsewhere with much better service and an ocean view - I'd stick with somewhere on the boardwalk!

Fun place & good food

By John P |

We went there for a light dinner. We shared two types of wings - buffalo and lemon pepper, and both were good. We also shared the tuna poke appetizer and it was excellent. good friendly service. It was kind of quiet when we were there but we passed it another time when it was really busy. Good beer selection.

Spaghetti-o's for Grownups?

By Amy B |

Great food in a raucous atmosphere! We had a meatloaf patty melt and Spaghetti-o's for grownups and we weren't disappointed. Our waitress wasn't as attentive as we'd like her to have been, and we waited a while for our food, but overall we were pleased. Family friendly, too!

I miss Tugs

By airbrush |

This location has been through some changes over the years, while the new decor is better than Hennessy's, and the food better than both, I miss Tugs.

Bad service

By Danny B |

I went for lunch today, waited at the table outside for over 30 minutes and nobody came to ask me for my order. I decided that I would wait it out to see how long it takes. No one came up after more than twenty minutes after that. So, I took out my laptop and began working. A few minutes later, the Manager, Karl approached me at my table and asked me to leave. He told me that I didn’t order anything and wasn’t allowed to sit there. I explained that nobody asked me for my order and I wanted to wait it out. I then asked him for a tequila order and a menu, but he denied me and asked me to leave once again. I’m African American, and it was perfectly clear to me that he didn’t like my skin color and curly hair. Everyone should avoid this racist establishment with absolutely terrible service. The manager Karl is racist, too. I know the drill by now (I’m over 40yrs old and work for our U.S. military. I sincerely hope the owner, Thomas Winn sees this post and makes some management changes ASAP!

Family Dinner

By BellaVistaLivin |

Good food. Was within walking distance of our hotel and seated quickly. Server was really nice and others jumped in to deliver food and drinks when needed. I had a Black/Blue Ceasar, it was delicious.

Dont go on a weekend!

By Ditzgrl02 |

We walked by this place on both a Saturday and a Sunday and the place was PACKED. We waited until Monday night to go and the place was practically empty. The drinks were amazing and the food was delightful. We were pleased.

Hated it

By Cova ( April) |

We hated this place food was awful. Over priced not common food. Place was dirty and loud. Was not impressed. After spending 35.00 for the 2of us we had to leave and go get food

Checking it out

By Matt C |

Had a friend suggest the Dive. Located a block from the beach. Nice sea breeze and local traffic vibe. We had the Fish tacos and Turkey Bacon and Avocado. Really good food. Service and was fantastic Good selection of beers and an assorted, but simple menu You need to try if you are in the area

great place.

By tidwelltracie |

Food was wonderful as was the staff. Prices were reasonable and location to the hotel was great! Walking distance.

Good spot.

By Bernard M |

Lunch on the terrace for 8 people without reservation. Pleasant welcome, varied menu. Large selection of beers, around twenty. Burgers, ceviche, fish, everything is good! A cuisine that respects the customer. Allow an average basket of 30 USD excluding service, which remains correct given the location. A spot not to be missed if you are passing through.

Only if you are a dog lover...

By Jean A |

Enjoyable outdoor decking allows for enjoying the sun and having a cold beer but...we found that they allow dogs on the deck which directly opens into the restaurant and the dogs seemed to be inside as well...don't get me wrong love dogs ....but there was wining a bit of growling and as many as 4 dogs during our visit...not my thing...beer was all we would have there would not order food..

Unfriendly service

By bekell |

I have been at the restaurant with some friends and we thought that most of the people working there were kind of rude and impatient. I didn’t feel welcome at all, so I definitely won’t come again.

Just another beach bar

By vagabondginger |

This place was pretty crowded inside but I got the last spot on the side patio bar. The server was quick and I just ordered up a Tecate light beer. In spite of the name it's not really a dive bar but just another side street surfer themed beach bar just off the boardwalk craziness. But it still made for some good PB peeps watching. Can't comment on the food being as I didn't have any.

For the Younger Folks

By Laura |

Duck Dive seems to be targeted more for the mid to upper 20's crowd. I personally wouldn't take my children here.

Fine for drinks but bad food and service

By Sarah T |

We ran into this place to avoid a coming rainstorm. Getting seated was really unorganized and then getting someone to take our order was worse. We were there 20 minutes before we got our drinks. Glad we ordered the fries as an afterthought when we ordered drinks. We were afraid we wouldn't see a waitress for a while & we didn't. The drinks were good but on the high side, as was the food, understandable for a weekend at the beach. The French fries appetizer ($9?!) were good but the rest was awful. We ended up sending the fish tacos back. They smelled and tasted bad. Overall it looks like more of their focus is on the bar and party scean. Skip the food.

Surf and Turf

By BIrish63 |

My family and I just returned from a great week in San Diego. We stayed in the Pacific Beach area, which was surrounded by shops and restaurants. On our second to last night we went to the Duck Dive. We had passed it several times, so I decided to look at the menu. The first thing that jumped out to me was the Surf and Turf for $25! I have never gotten S&T for $25, so we thought we would try it. Bar none one of my favorite meals of the trip. It was so good I took a picture so I could remember it. The Lobster was amazing and the steak had an awesome sauce on it, which made it different from a traditional one. In addition we went on a night where bottles of wine were half off (Wednesday or Thursday). Great deal and meal. I highly recommend.

Fun atmosphere

By Karadamico |

I was there during hockey playoffs. Great atmosphere of 20-somethings. Service was definitely slower than I would have liked (15 minutes before we got our water). Food was enjoyable, I had the special of the day which was a Southwest salad. Will probably return for the fun, open air experience.

Churros-wow

By Simple79 |

We actually didn’t come for any sort of meal. We had one thing in mind and one only, churros with caramel. We walked a few blocks but nothing jumped out at us. So we “resorted” to a fancier dinner-looking place. We told the waitress we didn’t need menus and were only there for one thing, the churro. I somewhat expected some negative response since we weren’t there to spend much money. But the waitress was awesome and told us we would love it. And wow did we ever!!! This thing was loaded and blew away our expectations. And for that reason, we are thinking it is our dinner spot tomorrow, the day before we leave to go home.

Lunch and drinks

By Craig L |

Went here for some lunch and to watch football.. nice choice of beers and friendly staff. Food was very enjoyable also had wings and spicy chicken burger..not too badly priced also..

go to for last min food

By ciarrasbc |

good food, good drinks, beach bar, casual dining. went with a group of people for lunch on a weekday and the place was empty so we were served quickly. At night, the place was packed, so I can't speak to dinner service.

Tuna Poke

By Tamara F |

I had the Tuna Poke on the menu, it was delicious. We ate lunch here mid week and it was very quiet, we went back on Saturday and it was a 45 minute wait. So, pretty busy on the weekend.

Duck into the Duck Dive

By David D |

Duck Dive is a surfing term which is suited to this eatery. Located just steps away from the sandy beach the Duck Dive has great food in a relaxed atmosphere. Its a great place to grab something light with a choice from inexpensive to moderately priced entrees. Stop by and have a cocktail from one of the talented bartenders and enjoy the games on the many flat screen TV's

Great food

By Sue C |

We had a great meal! The calamari with the 3 different aiolis the kale quinoa salad and fries were fab.. Burgers to die for Fun atmosphere!

Great Wings

By nikij6925 |

Stopped here twice during our short stay in San Diego. The salads are amazing and they have great wings! They also have Uber eats of you staying nearby

Great food beach atmosphere

By Amy W |

The food here was really good. They did not have your typical variety. They even had homemade spaghetti o's which my son loved. It's an open restaurant with a laid back atmosphere.

Nice Cali Cuisine

By Derek T |

Creative menu and very nice location. Had scallop and risotto dish that was very tasty. Outer wall seating has huge windows open, which happened to be a rainy day on our visit and thoroughly enjoyed watching the rain fall while we ate.

Didn’t stay long.....no service

By H Van |

Visiting Pacific Beach for the first time we thought we’d try this place based on a good happy hour and decent reviews.,.....DONT place was quite empty at 5pm. We sat at a table for 6-8 minutes with our family of four.....parents and teens...not screaming kids. Two waitresses walked by, glanced at us with dirty looks...and continued by and on to the other table or two that were in the place. So...we got the hint and left. Is it tourists you don’t like? Families? Not sure which, Had a fantastic dinner elsewhere .....spent lots. Left a great tip.

Best bar

By California Drea... H |

Awesome bar, really close to the beach and from the hostel I have stayed at. Super recommend and I will def be back.

Fun, but where's the tequila?

By Gerise T |

My husband and I stopped into 20 minutes after we checked into our hotel. Alex, our server was top notch, totally chill, smart, engaging and funny. Food was fantastic (fish tacos and steak wrap in a bowl). However, we each drank several margaritas and they were delicious....but light on the tequila...I guess we need to ask for double shots next time.

Bad service

By DaveTreth |

Bartenders are incompetent. Covered in flies. Poor beer selection. Would have stayed longer but got tired of waiting for a refill.

Taco tuesday

By Keisha F |

Went in on taco Tuesday thinking it was Wednesday. We shared duck fried French fries. Some sort of meat on meat sandwich (all pork) with meat dipping sauce like au jus. And then spinach dip. The spinach dip had to be my favorite as it was full of flavour.

Nothing Special (Had Food Delivered)

By Unknown322 |

Poor - Food was extremely cold when we received it. It is to make decision how good the food actually is when comes cold. I would not suggest delivery because it was higher prices for what you get.

Great bar/restaurant in PB

By bubfn |

We ate here a few times while in the area. I prefer the Bareback across the street for their burgers and drinks but really like this place too. I would give Bareback a 4-4.5 and Duck Dive a 3.9-4. We ate lunch here as well as dinner/happy hour. Weekend brunch with the Bloody special and mimosas were great. The food/drinks/service were great. I recommend it to others and will for sure go back!

Watermelon Jalapeno Margarita

By Nikkitacal |

fun place and really good service We just got apps but they were good but not epic by any means probably would pick another place along the walk way. this place does not have views of the beach or anything if thats what your looking for.

Way more then meets theceue

By K101070 |

My son was told about this place and wanted to try it while we were in town visiting. I didn't expect more then burgers and wings but I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was incredibly good, the drinks were plentiful, the service was friendly and the vibe was fun. Really great place.

Great specials, tacos & service!!

By Charles V |

First place we visited upon arriving in Pacific Beach. Very inviting, open air gem just off the beach. Poke tacos were fresh ahi tuna marinated just right in a spicy sauce. We also shared some carne asada tacos that rocked. Menu had corn dog bites that looked way good too. Loved this place!

Good Bar Menu

By Karl B |

Stopped in for a light lunch and was well satisfied. Very friendly staff, the food was good, and the prices in line.

Late night beers

By Greg |

The bar was decent sized, good drinks at a reasonable price. The servers were all very responsive. We didn't eat food but the wings that people around us had looked and smelled good.

Great Bar close to pacific view inn

By jaclyncurreri |

My husband and I stayed in the pacific view inn this past march 2016. The Duck Dive bar with a 1 minute walk from the inn so we ate and drank at the Duck Dive bar many times during our stay. The staff was friendly and food was good.

Great bar and grill

By lovescuba63 |

Great duck fat fries and cheese dip. Stay away from the salads, was not impressed and they charge for extra dressing and the salad does not come with enough.

A good find

By Scotsgirl73 |

Great food, very good staff (watch out because one of the girls clearly lifts and she looks like she would have you out in a heartbeat if you cause trouble). Family friendly.

Great food lively sports bar

By hooleyArizona |

Great place to watch sports with great food. one of the best cheeseburgers I have ever had. it is very crowded on weekend nights.

Overaged

By S2rmin-Norman |

So we weren't the oldest folks in the joint, but it is definitely a younger (or wannabe younger) crowd. If you are OK with that (as we were) the service and drinks are good. The food rates a little higher than I would expect from a "dive bar". The menu goes beyond standard pub fare and offers good variety.

Ideal day drinking location

By GlobalGrappler |

After competing at the Pan Ams for jiu jitsu I needed to let my hair down after 6 weeks of hard training and I came to the right place. Great open bar area, with scorpion bowls that really kept the group hydrated throughout the day. Turned out to be a fantastic venue for our sunday session and I hope to make it back here down the track.

Delicious Food

By CCR227 |

We happened upon this place driving from San Diego to La Jolla on a Sunday afternoon. Parking was hard to find. We were a little unsure at first as we were the only people seated for eating. The bar was full and semi-rowdy, and we were definitely the oldest people in the place. We're 50+. I'm glad we stayed. I had the Pan Seared Baja Bass. It was cooked perfectly and the artichoke butter caper sauce was scrumptious! My husband had the meatloaf dinner. He was equally pleased. I have no idea what the atmosphere is like later in the evening. This definitely seemed like more of a bar than a restaurant, but the food was great.

Great burger

By Cristi T |

All 4 in our party got the burger and fries with dipping sauces. The burger has pimento cheese, caramelized onions, garlic aioli, and tomato relish. Perfectly cooked, juicy not dry. Sooo good! The fries are thin and crispy and they have three dipping sauces: roasted tomato aioli, garlic aioli and mole sauce. They were all very delicious. Great spot for lunch. Highly recommend a stop!

Great selection of beer

By Kmarsh71 |

Went for drinks one afternoon, lots of good craft beers on tap. Decided to go back on a weekend night and was a very different scene. Not terrible but just not for us.

Great wings

By Web4214 |

Tried this bar out for a quick snack and beer. The crowd was much younger than us but that's normal for us. Bartenders were busting their butts with a FULL bar but were still friendly! We ordered the wings with some type of Mexican rub (can't remember name) that was a little spicy and very favorable. I requested flats only and they were happy to accommodate me. Seating options were varied but typically an open air type of environment. Great people watching local!

Great atmosphere

By GSmith07 |

This is a very lively place with a good menu and plenty of drink options. The location is perfect but parking is tight. Don't park in front of the hotel that is at the end of the street. Dude watched us pull up and walk away, grabbed his camera and then took a picture of my buddy's car. When we asked him what was going on he said we couldn't park there. There was no sign, but don't know why the dude didn't tell us as we got out of the car. Turd. The prices are average for the area. There are some hotties for servers. Tip them well.

Lunch stop

By Shannon D |

Popped in for lunch. Initially it appeared we were no going to be served, but upon further observation, realized that it was busier than staffed for. Once we were I initially served, great service after that. I had the Baja Cobb Salad, the lettuce was so fresh and crisp. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Certainly would stop again.

Its ok

By CACountrygirl |

Stopped in for lunch on a drizzly day in December. Very quiet at lunch hour. Husband had a burger & fries with a beer on special for $10 that he said was very good. I had a salad that was unmemorable at best but this place doesn't cater to the salad eaters of society so what did I expect, right? Bartender doubled as our waiter & he forgot to bring us our check. Actually told us "we're good" & we had to inform him that we hadn't paid the bill yet. We could have dined & dashed but that's not our style. I'm sure this place has a great sports bar atmosphere at night....just don't order the salads!

Great Experience

By Bob H |

We have visited San Diego dozens of times over the years and stayed at Pacific Beach but had not visited until now. We went on a Wednesday evening and the entire experience was great. Michaela was our server and she did a wonderful job. We had the fish and chips and the meatloaf and they were very well prepared. Other staff came by to ensure we were well taken care of throughout our time there. There was also a lady that was playing guitar and singing and it was great background music.

Great food, horrible ketchup

By WizardStrikes3 |

Chicken wings A+. Drinks A+. Burger B+, Fries A+. Service/cleanliness A+.....Ketchup F-. Everything was great but the ketchup. Not sure if it’s homemade but it was nasty. Like someone made it with brown sugar and vinegar and let it rot for a month. Get some real ketchup and I could give you 5 stars. Had to eat burger and fries with no ketchup, it was still good but common for real spend an extra $300.00 a year for some Heinz’s ketchup

Good food for a reasonable price.

By EddyDB1962 |

Good food for a reasonable price. If you're looking for taco's, don't go to this place: it's not on their menu. But what's on the menu is very good. We had chicken with gnocci and the prime rib. Both were delicious.

Wish I could eat here every night!

By Shannon L |

We sat outside on the deck and had a great meal. We started off with locally brewed beers and Moscow Mules (which were on happy hour prices). Our appetizer of duck lettuce wraps were delicious and perfectly seasoned. For the we ordered the Quinoa and Kale Salad with sesame crusted seared tuna and the "Voodoo Salmon" which was a spicy baked dish served with couscous and veggies. Everything was perfectly cooked, seasoned and the service was excellent. We ended up taking salad back to the room, and had enough left for another meal! YUM, YUM, YUM Also the blueberry mojito is a delicious dessert!

Not a Chain, not a Dive

By Christina E |

We stumbled across this restaurant driving back to San Diego from La Jolla. I think "Duck Dive" refers to a surfing term; there are surfboard etc on the walls. This was a nice sit-down restaurant. Big filling burgers for the kids; meatloaf for my husband, small steak and shrimp for me (good portion, not too much). One block from beach, and easy walking to dessert restaurants (ice cream, cookies) nearby.

Interesting Beach Bar!

By Jeanie J |

We stopped in because it looks inviting from the outside. It was pretty breezy in there with the windows open and the fans blowing, but it's fun and food was good. We sat at the bar, so the service was good. The stools, however are bolted to the floor really far apart and sort of far from the bar for the average person.

Been here many times, all under different names

By trdferg |

This place is within walking distance of where we stay every time we go to Pacific Beach and we end up here once or twice during the week. Seems like every couple of years it changes names, but is really the same ol place. Typical bar food, little more trendy drink selection this time. Good prices for a beach bar. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Live music, acoustic guitar was starting up as we were leaving and the place started to fill up. It's also a good people-watching spot whether you sit on the side or along the front.

Great Food! Filet and Lobster is the Best!

By Shelby |

They have an amazing happy hour but if you don't get there in time the Surf and Turf is so Good! The kids love the S'mores! Set up is super cute you roast the marshmallows yourself over a flame! Fun stuff!

Tara

By mercer241 |

My wife, my daughter and I had lunch and drinks today. The food (all appetizers) was good. The vibe was good, probably because March Madness was in full swing. What was great was watching Tara, the bartender and our server, work. We were there for nearly two hours and Tara never stopped working. Not for a minute. And with a smile. Work ethic like that is rare and always in demand. It is unusual to see. Good for her and good for that business. She won’t be there long. Someone will hire her away. Good luck, Tara.

Good food, and a great service

By intothevoid612 |

The food was good, and the service was great. I ordered the fish tacos, and they were good, but nothing special. The margaritas were also just average.

Fun little sports bar

By Kristin T |

This is a fun college atmosphere with lots of lively people, good drinks and food. It is comfortable for a quick bite with your kids if you go early.

Bloody Mary sculptor

By jan t |

We dropped in with a party of 11. The Bloody Marys were a work of art and delicious. Every one ordered something different and all loved their choices. Yum! He split our checks with enthusiasm. So glad we dropped in.

One of the musts in San Diego

By kory007 |

Great kitchen, good atmosphere, friendly staff. You must taste their cheesecake too! Simply loved this place and only a block from Pacific beach.

Location! Location! Location!

By debbief289 |

We have visited the Duck Dive in the past and it is a great place to stop in for a drink or meal. Breakfast this time was very good and the staff was very friendly and personable. Great location near the beach!

Recommended Beachside Meal

By W. Jeffrey |

Look. we had a great meal, once we got over waiting too long to be seated by an inattentive hostess that seemed bothered to do her job. Started with Duck Fries (Awesome) and finished with Churros (skip it). Had 2 x Moscow Mules (feeling happy!) Every single meal was great, a surf and turf that was awesome, fish tacos were muy bueno, Surf and Turf was perfect. However the star meal of he day was the Chef's Market Dish of Shrimp Scampi was the best and just $10. Service was great, low key and not rushed.

Eating at Duck Dive

By Skip D |

This is the best restaurant along the beach. I have been there from having Sunday brunch, lunch and dinner. They have super staff, good prices, and they pour a very nice cocktail. We have eaten there at least several dozen times. Besides San Diego is my favorite vacation spot.

We were surprised

By Pat A |

Wanted burgers but the menu didn't give enough variations for our liking so instead we ordered French fries to be polite and a beer. The fries were fried in duck fat and were shoe strung style. What surprised us were the dipping sauces for the great fries. They gave you three different kinds and they were all so very good. Well worth stopping for. We now wished we had ordered a burger and just requested what we wanted on them.. our loss. I wok.d recommend this place to family and friends and will return.

Beach bar

By Deborah R |

Stopped here with my daughter, killing time before our flight. We had a great spot outside a block or so from the beach. Unfortunately they allow smoking here (yuck!). I had the caprese sandwich and my daughter the prime rib dip and both sandwiches were very good. We did not like the ketchup at all, had a cinnamon, clove flavor to it. Ok in a pinch, good if you just want to drink.

Husker Bar on game day!

By Becswa |

A few Nebraska gals needed a friendly place to watch a Saturday Nebraska Husker game. While the food and drinks were enjoyable, the game sucked. Nonetheless the less it was fun to hang with fellow fans and commiserate together! I will say 2 of us had an experience in the ladies room that was somewhat violating. 😮The larger of the 2 stalls in the ladies room has a floor to ceiling mirror that you are looking right at while you are doing your business. It’s a unique view I’m not sure I needed. 🧐While I’m completely comfortable with my body and I get it that everyone has to use a toilet, I just saying I don’t think it’s something I need to watch myself do. I will say this gave us a good laugh several times during this trip and I’m sure we will continue to laugh about it as we recall this unique bathroom experience for years to come. I’ll be back to the Duck Dive in the future but I’ll hope for a better game day outcome and that the smaller toilet stall is available when I need to do my business. 😁

Nice food, reasonably priced.

By Chris H |

Nice food in a friendly atmosphere. Good service and reasonably priced. There was live music on the evening we went.

LOVED the place; just a little pricey

By R-VanPeursem |

The Duck Dive has great food and great service. And some extra points for the awesome surf artwork. The entire place is made to feel like you're inside a wave!

If you're searching for a DIVE try DUCKING away from this one.

By Sail Windward |

Perhaps if we had tattoos and our baseball cap backwards we would have been served equally. We never got the chance to try the food or even the water because no server came by our table in over 25 min. of waiting. Simply felt like we were being ignored when the place was half empty. They get an "F" rating overall. Very poor service, cleanliness ok, choice of food we will never know it took forever to get water. The server needs an attitude check. If you're searching for a DIVE on Mission Blvd then try ducking away from this one.

Great mini corn dogs!

By Rebecca M |

My husband and I came here for lunch while visiting San Diego. Had 1/2 off bottles of wine all day (wednesdays) which was awesome. We ordered mini corn dogs, quinoa salad and a Cuban sandwich. All were really good and had large portions. Definitely a beach bar vibe, laid back... open air... felt good. We would go back!

Awesome bartender (Rob), amazing cocktails!

By Kathy A |

We went during a quiet afternoon and bartender Rob totally hooked us up with amazing cocktails. Leave the comfort zone of your rum and coke or 7&7 and let Rob make a negroni or a cucumber vodka drink or amazing bourbon cocktail. We loved it so much we left to watch the sunset and check out some microbrews, and came back for a late night nightcap.

Good food in a nice atmosphere

By Bandanne |

Nice place in Pacific Beach with nice and relaxed atmosphere, good food and nice staff. Recommend a visit!

Tiny chicken adobo tacos

By Mitzi W |

I ordeted the battered mahi tacos. My husband ordered the chicken adobo tacos. My tacos were large (3 of them), while his were tiny (more like appetizer-size). I had to give him one of my tacos so he wouldn't go hungry. Please make the chicken tacos larger or lower the price! Mine were much larger and similar in price. It doesn't seem right.

Fabulous Sunday Fun!

By JRCSac |

Went in at 11, left at 3 - definitely got our value for the bottomless mimosa bar. Such a busy day, and we had the best service - very impressed with the amount of people there. Pleasantly surprised at how good the food was - we ordered a variety of appetizers and meals - everything was tasty, hot and eaten down to the last bite. Definitely would go back! Recommend reservations on Sunday if you are going for brunch!

Pleasantly surprised

By azsteel |

Walking distance from the ocean. The atmosphere is open and airy. The food and drinks tasted great. The service was friendly. All and all satisfied customers.

Yum

By emily c |

get the duck fries. You wont be disappointed. Atmosphere is fun. Drinks are strong but delicious. Hubby got a burger and it was huge. Tacos were very filling.

Satisfied customer

By cfoley20 |

Good deals, great drinks and healthy food choices. Friendly servers, interesting interior and fun people watching if you get a window seat.

Chill Spot

By Micheline F |

We sat at the bar and struggled to get service, but once our server's shift ended (I think we sat right when he was ready to go), our service got much better—had drinks and dinner. Very yummy Poke Taco! Cool vibe and good food - a nice combo.

Don't waste your time or $

By Mike H |

Went for drinks and dinner. My 2 drinks were weak, service super slow, my tacos were terrible and the bill was $94.00 plus tip!

Great food and service - day or night

By Pip-F1 |

We visited twice in three days, for lunch and then for dinner. On both occasions the service was great, and the food was very fresh and tasty. Inside there were plenty of screens to watch sports and the theming of the restaurant was as if you were under a pier on a beach which was cool. The food was very reasonably priced as were the drinks. When we visited for dinner on the evening we were required to show ID to get in but they didn't accept a UK driving licence. They did accept UK passports though. For dinner we sat outside to eat as there was a DJ inside and it was extremely loud.

Good place to enjoy afternoon

By Marta O |

Nice place - tasty food and big portions. We were pleased that the chose this place to unwind and have a meal.

Dive about sums it up....duck this place

By corey w w |

We went for dinner. Wife had the steak salad, I had the burger. Her steak came out cold and the fries were soggy. The waitress did get my wife a new steak that was pretty good and the fresh fries were good too. Would have given three 1/2 stars if food came out right the first time. I did see my waitress down 2 shots at the bar during our dinner so that lowered the score too.

Mixed reveiw

By Travelling_norm |

My friend and I stopped by here after a couple hours swimming and were greeted by a very nice waitress that brought us ice water right away, super friendly, we had a burger and beer for 10$, we were very happy and decided to make sure we went back. But the next time we returned we were not allowed in the door cuz we didn't have our passports which we didn't have the first time, so our second visit wasn't nearly as satisfying as the first.

Brunch is Amazing here!!!!

By ltostrowski |

Duck Dive was so much fun! Me and my 10 girls went for bottomless mimosas brunch it was definitely worth the price! You get full bottles of Champagne on the table. The food was good and the Service was amazing!! Sierra was our server and she was great we all loved her!!! We were visiting from out of town and this was our favorite restaurant all weekend!

Burger Heaven

By tbromfield |

The Duck Dive burger was a home run and I have tried many a burger in San Diego. Will now drive out of my way to go to the Duck Dive to treat myself again.

Great...if you are 21

By TiffHenry716 |

Very cool bar in PB. I can see this place easily turning into a Cancun like atmosphere but a few families were having lunch there on a Saturday afternoon. Great beer and drink selection, the bartenders were very emotionless and just going with the flow, and wouldn't change one of the twenty Tvs for my husband to watch hockey. Definitely for the younger crowd at night.

Duck Dive is the place!

By Bruce B |

This place was recommended by our VRBO and it didn't disappoint. Food and service was excellent. Awesome Mahi sandwich and fries.

Great food, great drinks and a morning of tennis

By ScottsdaleDave |

I was at Duck Dive the morning of the Serena Williams semi-finals at the US Open. Lots of TVs and a great place to hang out. The food was great (The hash skillet) and enjoyed The Jamaican Star, a very refreshing beverage with a kick. Since it was hot and humid outside, they even closed the windows and turned on the AC for us. Nice touch.

Great atmosphere and service (and food!)

By Kirsten G |

This was exactly the type of place my hubs and I hoped to find. It was open-air, but not al fresco: you could enjoy the lovely SoCal breeze, but not worry about your beer getting hot in the sunshine. So practical! Kyle took care of us, and he was awesome. Totally laid back and friendly, but super-quick when we needed anything. We tried some some local draft beer and on Tuesday, when we were there, we got a beer and a burger for like $11! A total steal. It had the ambience without the sardine crowds of Pacific Beach joints, just up the road. We'll definitely be back on our next venture here. :)

Watered down expensive drinks

By Sarah M |

Paid $300 for 7 drinks for just myself. I was sober. All my friends were in the same boat. Very very watered down - don’t waste your money here if you’re looking for a fun time.

Great restaurant near pacific beach

By Todd C |

Family took me there for Father’s Day. Great service from the minute we walked in until we left. Food was outstanding. We all had different tacos. I suggest the beer battered mahi-mahi tacos. Great vibe. It was an open atmosphere with doors rolled up. Wife & daughters loved it. Not fancy or upscale but just right for grabbing a meal or drinks near the beach. Overall great experience

Finally Made it

By worldoftravelss |

I been waiting to get to the Duck Dive. I follow them on Instagram and always in SD. This is a must to place to go if your in pacific beach.

Game day Fun

By Nikki D |

We came on a Sunday to watch the playoff games! We got a booth and yummy breakfast best deal with $15 mimosa! Must try if you come to PB!!!!

Great service - good foos

By Brian C |

Hit it up on a quiet Tuesday for dinner. Laid back super friendly waiter - definitely a chill spot and vibe. Easy to relax here and enjoy solid beer and drink options after day in San Diego. We are bar food fans and this was good quality high end bar food. I would pop in again definitively either for just a post Beach beer or a quick bite. Exceeded expectations.

Best Pub Food :o)

By Halby |

We stopped in the evening for a few drinks on an overnight stay in Pacific Beach. We ordered Calamari & Wings, which were delicious. My hubby remarked that it may be the best he's had! Large screen TV's & outdoor patio area. We really enjoyed our visit to this location!

Always a great time!

By Jake L |

The best part about this place is you never feel out of place. You can visit and see a crazy mix of people, young and old, families with kids and couples with dogs, people of all ethnic backgrounds, hipsters and hippies, road bikers and die-hard football fans cheering for the same game. They also have a ridiculous number of TVs in this place, it is just about impossible to get a table without a view of at least 5 TVs with various games or surfing movies on. This place has some of the best food we have tried in Pacific Beach. It is our go-to place for a great meal, great service, and great clean atmosphere. The staff is always extremely nice and attentive and the food is great breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Neither my wife or I drink alcohol, but this place is one of our favorite places to eat, hands down. You can visit any time of the day (well, before 10pm) and it will feel like a restaurant just as much as it does a bar. We highly recommend their baja calamari, ceviche, ANY of the sandwiches and bet of all their duck-fat fries!! The breakfast plates are all pretty awesome as well! We have not been disappointed by anything we tried here. Every day of the week has really great specials like $10 for a Burger & Beer, ½ off all appetizers, $5 for a plate of wings, buy one, get one free on their AWESOME meatloaf dinners, and buy one get one free on their huge punchbowls (we don't drink, but on the weekends, just about EVERY table has at least one on their table).

Cool beach spot for the younger crowd

By SurfdogSD |

I came here for Happy Hour with my brother. Cool beach spot for beer and some food. Duck dive is the surfing term, this is a surfing themed place. The food was good, the beer was cold and it is a pretty lively scene for the mostly younger crowd. It does not have an ocean view.

Perfect First-Night Casual Dinner in San Diego

By Gobeach56 |

Flying in from the East Coast, you’re inner time clock is a little off. But the Duck Dive filled the bill for an early no-fuss dinner on our first night in San Diego. Even better that it was in walking distance to the Pacific Terrace hotel where we were staying. We kicked things off with special Watermelon-Jalapeno Margaritas along with what else (if you’re in California): Guacamole and chips. The guac was a bowl of chunky goodness. However the margaritas could have used a tad more watermelon juice. I had the Beer Battered Mahi Tacos and would have been just fine with the Mahi alone which was fried to light perfection. My husband had the Puerto Neuvo Plato and enjoyed every bite of his spicy lobster dinner. Duck Dive has a great vibe for a perfect first-night casual dinner in San Diego.

Great Vibe, Food, Service and Entertainment!

By Knikkers |

I've got to totally agree about the Ahi Tuna Poke - yummilicious! While the other half enjoyed his juicy burger and fries. Service was great - very attentive and friendly. We dined on Wednesday which was 1/2 price wine night - so a bottle of lovely rose for USD$12 - yes please ... and a great inhouse trio which was really entertaining to listen to - especially loved his impromptu rapping about the patrons ... awesome job boys! We walked past on the weekend at brunch time and Duck Dive was totally humming.

Good Wings-Casual Atmosphere

By james l |

Friendly and polite staff. They had a Thursday special of 8 wings for $5 with $2 drafts. Casual atmosphere with plenty of tv's broadcasting sports. Variety of flavor of wings and all were good. Fast service. Personal opinion is to stay away from the fries. They failed to mention when they recommend as an add on they charge $8 for a plate of shoe string frozen fries. It was disappointing in taste, quality, and service.

Best price steaks and best service

By Jim C |

We had the steak in the surf and turf and it was reasonably priced and very well prepared. The service was excellent and it’s a great place for lunch or dinner I also tried the fish and chips for lunch and they were excellent

Go Big Red!

By Greg |

We were walking along Mission and saw the Husker flag flying so made it a point to come back later in our trip. Had friendly service, the beer was cold and the happy hour specials were pretty good. The Ahi Poke was enjoyable. Fun place.

Knowledgable Bartenders

By cariL44 |

Good vibes, friendly atmosphere, and plenty to choose from. Completely open air eating one block from the beach. Easy to get in and easy to order good food.

Interesting ambiance, decent food

By Edge W |

I was here for a late lunch--a slow time in a place that is known as a sports bar. Choice was made by the availability of parking nearby, not by choice of type of restaurant. The sandwich was pretty good, and large. The fries were good, Service was prompt and friendly The place might have rated a "4" but the Nebraska Cornhusker theme just didn't resonate with a Missouri Tiger.

Great place!

By Christopher M |

I loved the poke/avocado appetizer! We got the surf/turf. The lobster was really good, the filet was decent, but for $25 it was a good meal. They have lots of fun specialty drinks and great nightly specials! It was a cool atmosphere and the location was perfect!

Friendly, welcoming and dog friendly

By AshishGuptasfo |

Was visiting a friend who lives in the neighborhood and we decided to come in for a quick bite on a Thursday night. We were greeted warmly, and our little pup was given a dog treat and made to feel very welcome as well. I had the three tuna taco which were very light so I would recommend sticking to Burgers which was very good and a nice size portion.

Quickie

By lwarden |

After a long walk (got lost actually) round Mission Bay and La Jolla, was a welcome Inn for a rest. We happened to stumble on this Inn whilst awaiting our lift and found it most welcoming and perfect spot for people watching and chilling on the outside chairs. Service friendly and good, drinks ridiculously cheap and really good find, would definitely recommend.
