Live and lively piano music and vocals. We just had drinks but there is a full menu of bar food. It’s a classic Irish pub. Drink prices were modest and our server was great.

I visit this place every time I am in San Antonio. Love the beer and Irish singing, Would not recommend this place for those that are easily offended by dirty language. However if you don't mind this is a great place.

Right on the corner, near the Commerce St bridge and Alamo, you can drop in to the outside chairs/tables or wander inside. There is always something happening, and it's always fun. We eat finger food and drink all the varieties of beer we can stand (literally). They have great canned music and usually some live, including a bagpiper.

Stopped by for drinks with friends. Very loud music from the inside. We stayed on the outside next to the river. It was okay

We were in San Antonio for the SA Rodeo and stayed on the riverwalk. Saw this bar on TripAdvisor and decided we should go. I promised our bartender Don I would go on TripAdvisor and tell everyone how great he was so here I am. A big shout out to Don. Not only is he an excellent bartender but he shared so much information about the Riverwalk and San Antonio. We will be back next year!

Right below the Hilton Palacio Del Rio Hotel so you can totally enjoy a libation or two. It's on the famed Riverwalk Entertainment area. Typically fare for a beer bar with a rowdy atmosphere at time depending on the pianist guiding you through popular sing-a-long songs. My wife loves it!

We had dinner here one night while visiting San Antonio & the RIver Walk. Food was good and plentiful. The (owner ?) who plays the piano does a good job of getting the customers involved and everyone seemed to enjoy the bawdy lyrics. Worth a visit if you like this kind of thing.

Like to stop here and have a drink or two or three while sitting outside watching the mass humanity stroll by. Beer is good, Irish coffee good and strong! Ordered food and it went downhill from there! I had the Irish fries--don't remember the exact name but where they could have been really delicious instead they were a pile of mushy fries topped with an equivalent to velveeta cheese and a couple bits of cabbage and large chunks of ham---just yuk!! Couldn't complain to the waiter because we never saw him again and after waiting for 45 minutes had to go inside and track him down. No excuse for such a lack of service!!

Outside seating was nice good selection of beer and food fish and chips and Rubin was very good, very large portions. Service was good until it was time to pay it took about fifteen minutes to be able to get our check and pay.

Tried to enjoy the food at this establishment twice during a week stay at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio. (restaurant is part of the food and beverage service at the hotel). On a Sunday evening this is the only dining choice within the hotel. We had a less than good first experience and decided to give another try our last night. Eternal optimist. Second visit..............unhappy people work here, and it is evident from entering to exit. The food is mediocre at best. Fish and chips, house made donuts ( disgusting with old oil saturated throughout) . I would not chose to dine at Durty Nellies Irish Pub in the future.

The staff made up for the mediocrity. Chips were frozen and they put seasoning salt on them (trying to hide the frozen taste I guess); I've never had or have ever seen any fish & chips from the UK with seasoning salt. It is almost sacriledge to use frozen fries for anything Irish. There was no salt & vinegar or curry sauce offered too, just ketchup in packets in a plastic cup! Beer selection was just okay as they didn't have what was on their menu. Would not return or recommend.

A fun restaurant near the Riverwalk to sit outside or enjoy inside. Irish food and music a great draw to Durty Nelly's. Try the hot Irish Coffee!

Ok, I admit, I am a little biased here. I first visited this place over 20 years ago and found that it has not changed one little bit during out visit this weekend...I LOVE IT! I would classify it as a small dive bar. The beer was cold and the atmosphere very cool. They have a piano player in the evening and you can sing along, it's great. I've never been to Ireland (YET) but I would like to think that Durty Nelly's is a good representation of an Irish Pub.

Went there at 6.30pm to meet with colleagues for dinner - bad decision. So loud cannot hear anything. Left before having a meal. Avoid unless you score a table outside.

The beer was nice and cold and my glass was never empty. However, there was quite a distinct unpleasant odor coming from the river I believe.

hole in the wall, small place along the Riverwalk with fun piano bar entertainers! Good service and even better selection of Irish beers/drinks! I will be back

My sister and I ate a late lunch/early dinner. Our waiter Michael was quite helpful. Our sandwiches were delicious. I would recommend the Reuben or the Patty Melt. Food comes from the affiliated hotel, but I would have thought it was their very own kitchen. The atmosphere was what one would expect in a pub. Relaxed setting with peanuts on the tables and shells on the floor. The piano player contributed to the atmosphere. It would be a good place for the traveler looking for food and relaxing entertainment option along the River Walk.

This place is cool. Great interaction w patrons. And, I haven’t been impressed with service in San Antonio, but....Melissa, you are awesome! Not sure how you do it, w peeps coming and going, but u are a rockstar!

I stopped in Durty Nelly's just to grab a few drinks. I came in the afternoon after New Years and there was hardly anyone here. I enjoyed the old Irish pub feel here, it was dark and cozy inside. Each table has peanuts which can get messy! Since it was just us, the service was quick. I was happy just to drink a fresh pint of Guinness and sit and chat with friends for a few hours. They do have food here, and a decent selection of traditional beers. I can see it getting busy here sometimes, but I had a great time, Cheers!

Located next to the Hilton Palacio Del Rio, this little gem is a great spot to stop and wet your whistle. They pour an admirable Guinness and the food isn't bad, either. The piano player gets a little bawdy and that's a good thing. Lots of singing along and the songs are quite funny. Peanuts are on the tables and shells on the floor. If you take your children there, you might have some explaining to do. Or, maybe they can explain it to you, I don't know. At any rate, it is well worth an hour or two.

The menu is a bit quirky but the food is great. Eat and drink while enjoying the singing and comedy of the piano player. Music covers old standards, traditional Irish songs to popular music.

Spent some time in Durty Nellys river walk on New Year's Eve. The piano player was excellent Crowded but a lot of fun

The beer cheese with fries was pretty good. We had a few beers that were decent. Our server did provide good service.

Stopped in for a Smithwicks - which was more expensive than the other place we found it. There was live entertainment, and it was so loud you couldn't hear each other talk.

I had the best time at this place over the Labor Day weekend. I met some nice folks, we sang, we drank, and OH YEAH, we danced. It was one of the best moments I spend during my stay at the Hilton. Don't sleep on this place - you will love it.

Cold beer. A bit expensive for their drinks though. $6.50 for a domestic beer!! The atmosphere was OK. This is not by any means a luxury location. Either way we did have fun!! Just a little shocked with the drink prices.

I've spent several afternoons listening to the piano and people watching here. It's entertainment aside from just day drinking.

I would say this place is better for drinks and the piano and sing-a-longs then the food. Lots of fried foods and what I would consider "bar food". Complimentary peanuts and you throw the shells on the floor. Just a good time place!!

I had the best time here drinking some paints of stout ale with my friends, I'll go again as soon as I'm in town.

Was a great place to have a point and to listen to some talented staff. For a moderate tip, they will sing you a song.

I was in San Antonio on business the day before St. Patricks Day, so I had to have corned beef since it was near the holiday and before all the crowds had to "be" Irish. I chose the Reuben with sweet potato fries. Rueben was good, nothing to write home about but it was good, sweet potato fries came out colder then I thought they should have been, but honestly after being on two flights and having to walk from my hotel to the Riverwalk, I just wanted a meal. Meal was slightly expensive, more then I would have expected, but I am not one to complain and obviously I see the price in the menu before I order. Besides that, sitting outside watching the boat tours go by and the people walk by on the Riverwalk was a nice experience.

If you love cold beer and sing alongs then you'll love this place. Literally a dirty little hole in the wall. My kinda place. Not for kids or the faith at heart. This is drinking beer, laughing, and singing along!!!

Stopped in Durty Nelly's on a Friday afternoon to have some drinks. Don our bartender was great! He was very attentive and we really enjoyed talking with him. They had cold Guinness and Smithwicks on tap and they were great! Good selection of Irish Whiskey as well. There was also live music, a one man band on a piano and that was perfect. Would recommend!

We had spent quite a bit of time walking and enjoying San Antonio and wanted to relax on a patio. This place had good outdoor seating and we could have a conversation. Indoors was live music which was fine, as the noise level did not spill outside so we could hear each. I would suggest that you stick with beer though others around us had mixed drinks they were enjoying.

We visited after the riverboat ride for something cool to drink. It fit the bill nicely for our group.

The best part of Durty Nelly's is the Guiness. But beware... the tables are hard to come by and there are many rules about ordering often.... no just hanging out and enjoying the raucous music.

Been here several times and we keep coming back. Have not eaten here because the food is pretty pricey for bar food. Drinks are good though and the entertainment is fantastic. It really is a great place to relax, listen to some music and have a great time singing along w the piano player. Every one we've seen has been great.

We stopped in to cool off a little bit and have a beer...we thought it would be fun to stop at what appeared to be a charming Irish pub for a spot of rest. The bar is quite small and dark, and difficult to walk over the spent peanut shells. There were very few patrons when we came in...seems like someone could have taken advantage of the lull and swept up. The waitress took a good 10 minutes to acknowledge we were there...she appeared to be too busy visiting with the piano-player while he was on his break. We ordered 2 Michelob, and two soda waters with a slice of lime, and it was $17. Every other place we ordered soda waters while on the river walk, we either got for free, or for $1.50 at the most. We toyed with the idea of ordering a Cobb Salad...but it was $18. We walked out more than disappointed in the service, and feeling like we'd paid way too much....

Great place to enjoy meeting others and having fun. Been stopping by every time we are in San Antonio for 35 years. Tom has been there the whole time and he is great.

My fiance and I just got back from a trip to San Antonio and we stopped here for a few beverages one day. It was a delightful Irish bar where you can enjoy a beer and throw peanuts on the floor. Our server was attentive and kind. We were not able to eat there as our schedule didn't allow it that day but we looked over the menu and looks like it would be a good place to dine. Later on during our trip, we heard some people say that they had a delightful time there the night before as a gentleman plays the piano and enjoys singing along with the crowd and such. We are sorry we missed that but would definitely check that out if we ever went to San Antonio again. The people we spoke to said that they had a wonderful time there. I loved the Irish charm and aviance there.

This is a delightful Irish pub with great beer and a wonderful piano player. The food is not their strong point with the exception of the onion rings!

If there hadn't been a fantastic piano playing, crowd engaging, fun energizing atmosphere, this would probably have been an overpriced, kinda dirty and smelly bar on the River Walk. BUT, it was a piano bar, the scene was hopping, and it was a ton of fun to visit, drink and sing along with all the other patrons! Irish music is their specialty, complete with lyric sheets to sing along.

This is a perfect place for a beer along the Riverwalk. Too expensive? Probably. Food OK? Probably but not great.

The Reuben was amazing and my wife got the fish and chips; they were fried perfectly and tasted phenomenal. The staff was very professional and the music was good too! Give it a shot!

I was introduced to this establishment when stationed at Fort Sam Houston, TX as a young commissioned officer. This place is always fun, great drinks,song/music! A must visit when coming to SA and going to the Riverwalk!

I went here alone as I was in the area on business. The food was good but the atmosphere could have been better. The restaurant was in a perfect spot on the river walk but I chose to sit inside as I was in business attire and it was hot out. The inside smelled slightly and there was no hostess or sign to seat yourself. After finding the one waitress, she said to seat myself and she'd be right over. I sat in the rear as there was a piano player (very good) but it was pretty loud with him singing. It was clear that two, rather drunk patrons were influencing his musical choices so it wasn't what I would consider an appropriate collection for an Irish Pub, but the two people were basically the only people there when I walked in so I can understand playing to the crowd. I ordered the Irish Fries and would definitely suggest them. They were very tasty. It was odd to me, but she brought the check when she brought my food. There were a number of people outside but she didn't seem that busy and it was just odd as I felt like I was being rushed out. She did come to check up on me a little later, though. Next time, I'd sit outside.

Fun place with good pub food. Had some wacky hotdog which was tasty and available after 10 PM which made this place a win. Piano player (Keith) was very good and kept everyone laughing and singing. He’s a catch! This Irish Pub is a standout establishment on the River walk.

The atmosphere here was fun, with the piano man singing and playing the piano and encouraging all to join in, and even getting a big hello from the crowd when we walked into the place, but the food was only so-so. The beers were cold and the service was OK. Don't go into this place if you have a peanut allergy, though, as there are peanuts on the table and you are encouraged to throw the shells on the floor. I had the shepherd's pie which really left much to be desired. There was only a drizzle of potatoes on top, and the sauce was not very tasty. My husband had the fish and chips which he reported as being OK. If going here, I would recommend the atmosphere and the drinks, but eat somewhere else!

Great beer selection. The best piano player on the Riverwalk. He didn’t know all the lyrics which made it more fun. Would have given 5 stars, except I can’t speak for the food, since we didn’t eat there.

This place has an authentic, Irish Pub feel to it and it's loud and fun! The pianist is a fantastic comedian that gets the whole bar roaring with laughter and jests! A good spot to step out from the sun and cool off with some cold pints, but oddly enough if your looking for a spot to get lit up at... this may be a good starter because behind the music, hollering, laughing, and the crowd that exists in this tight place... it be tough to tell the difference whether your a hollering drunk or your simply trying to talk over all the commotion!

Food was decent but pricey for what it was. Great entertainment, Donald the piano singer was entertaining and a fun environment.

This was another stop while taking in the sights along the Riverwalk on a midweek evening. This place too was fairly full. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. I put down a pint of Smithwick Red Ale ($9) while sitting outside along the Riverwalk. Yeah, it’s pricey but at least I wasn’t charged a credit card fee! Again, there’s no parking that I’m aware off. You have to find street parking or use a public lot.

It's hard to miss Durty Nelly's as it's one of the louder places on the Riverwalk. We stopped for drinks a couple of times, once on the outside patio on a Sunday afternoon and then one weeknight evening. It's a bit crowded inside when they're (which appeared to be the norm) but a lot of fun with the piano player doing his thing. As some of the other comments have said, it's not for everyone as much of the songs have some politically incorrect edits. For us, it was a good time.

Second time reviewing...worse than the first! Xmas eve sat outside to see the lights and watch ugly sweaters walk by. No waiter so had to order inside. Coffee drink was barely lukewarm and surely had a minimum of alcohol in it. Ordered dinner-fish n chips just nasty...my husband loves food you can tell by the size of him, took a few cold bites and was disgusted. My Shepard’s pie was a cold runny sloppy joe topped with a scant zigzag of potatoes. All this while being subjected to cigarette smoking patrons who step outside to pollute my surrounding air!! Guess it’s time to find a better humanity viewing locale!

Great Atmosphere! This piano bar lives and dies by the entertainment. Did not try the food but plan to on my next visit. It lives and dies by the entertainers and I wish I could remember who was in on Friday night until closing as he was great at energizing the crowd!

Great fun, great beer and, fabulous food... fun music piano dude... definitely a return possiblity. Superior Sheppards pie...SMITHWICKS ROCKS

This pub is part of the Hilton Palacio del Rio. The food is good. The beer is cold with both Guinness and Harp on tap. You can eat your fill of good peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. We really enjoyed the piano player the evening we were there. He was very talented at singing and playing traditional Irish songs, as well as American standards. His version of “Happy Birthday” was hilarious. This is one of the Riverwalk’s hidden gems.

The food is over priced and mostly fried. the bar smells like a wet horse but its a pub they should have a smell to them. the beer and drinks is were this place shines the bartender Andrew took his time explaining all the Irish beer they had and was very knowledgeable even gave me a quick history about the Alamo. even though he had other customers to take care of he made sure my order was complete before he moved on. the piano player was hoot, i will come back and recommend this pl;ace as a must stop if your on the river

We stopped here for a beer, looking forward to a Smithwicks and a Harp Ale. They were out of both! That was very disappointing. We settled for a domestic draft and didn’t stay for lunch.

If you want to sit and have a great time this is the place. The piano player was wonderful. Lots of fun and some naughty songs. The beer was cold and the food was good.

We went here on a Monday night. There was a piano player taking requests and people singing along with him. The atmosphere was loud and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my beer and food.

We stopped here on a rainy weekday for an early dinner. The place was pretty empty and we got to pick our table by the fireplace. Piano music started and the guy was quite entertaining. Ordered the Reuben sandwich to split. It came with sweet potato fries and it was enormous!! Our waiter was attentive and friendly. We had a good time. Besides the regular Guinness, we also ordered the blend of Guinness and Harp. Interesting twist. This is actually part of the Hilton Hotel property, located right on the River Walk.

We ducked into durty nelly's because it was the closest thing to us when it started raining and boy are we glad this was the bar! Our server Taylor was great! It was a full house but she made us feel like we were the only ones there, the drinks were fast and ice cold, the food was hot and delicious and the piano guy (kevin?) was hilarious! We'll definitely be back!

We stopped by here about 11pm on Friday so my husband could get a beer. We were wanting to hang out some place that had live music, and this was recommended to us. The piano player was good and played a lot of sing along songs. If you plan on coming here, I would suggest getting here early. The place was very crowded and we almost didn't get to stay, but luckily some people got up and let us have their table. Its easier to get up and get your own drink at the bar than it is to flag down a server. It is loud, so not great if you are wanting to have a conversation. I feel like this would be a fun place for a group of people looking to have a good time.

I had the burger and a nutty Irishman. The burger was great. The drink was delicious. The piano player, Gray, was very talented and friendly.

This restaurant/bar is very noisy, so if you are looking for a place to chill out and visit with friends, I would suggest finding another location. We chose to eat outside after about 15 minutes of trying to talk over the very loud piano singer. I’m sad to say the food was very disappointing. The shepherd’s pie tasted like a sloppy joe mix with instant mashed potatoes. The fish and chips were also not that good. I would suggest you try the other Riverwalk pub for more of a authentic Irish Pub flavor.

traditional irish pub. peanuts everywhere. the burgers are good, but not great. live music and the always great irish beers...

A definite must visit when on the river walk. the place is so fun, the piano players at nightare full of energy and keep the entire crowd gking with singalongs. The drinks are great and the staffis friendly. Get so.e friends, have some drinks and enjoy.

We had dinner here. There was a piano player and he had his amps set way to loud for such a small pub especially one that was was not crowded. It spoiled the experience. Less volume would have been more effective. We ordered the Fish & Chips and the Shepards Pie. Both dishes were good. We may return in case the volume issue was not the norm. That was the only negative at this typical pub.

This is by far one of the best sing-along bars I have ever been to. The piano player is great and really get the crowd involved. Love the penis and throwing the shells on the floor is just an awesome experience!!!!

Fun time enjoying a Guinness and listening/singing along with the piano player. Great choice when you are in the mood for engaging with a group in singing popular songs.

We decided that we needed to sit out on the patio and have a beverage next to the canal. We are from Iowa so the thought of sitting on the patio in February to have a drink was fantastic. The server suggested the Irish nachos which we chose to order and a fruity drink. All of it was wonderful. The Irish nachos were fries with cheese sauce corned beef and cabbage on top, my friend and I shared this portion and each had a drink. Service was excellent and we enjoyed the patio.

We stopped here as first-time visitors during Dia de los Muertos weekend. We sat outside although we could here the piano player inside and the crowd seemed to like him (however, he was not playing Irish music). It was noisy inside so we preferred to sit on the Riverwalk since the weather was perfect. We had a problem getting the food quickly. Our waitress, Melissa, was very apologetic --- apparently there was only one chef for quite an unexpectedly large crowd. However, our food was hot and tasty when it arrived. I had the Reuben sandwich and my husband had the pastrami sandwich, served with a generous serving of fries. It's a great spot for people-watching on the Riverwalk. Note: Anyone with peanut allergies should not venture near this restaurant as the interior floor is covered with peanut shells.

This was my first Piano Bar visit. Drinks were good, Loved the atmosphere until the piano player started playing inappropriate suggestive music. The crowd started throwing peanuts at him and we got up and left. It was a shame because the pub experience and throwing peanuts on the floor was fun.

I tried to meet friends here one night. However it was too loud indoors to talk with them so I left. You may consider it quaint, it is popular but it felt more like a basement to me. They have a nice tiny patio but there were too many smokers there for me to enjoy. Just not my cup of tea...

Great little bar on the riverwalk under the Hilton Hotel. The piano player was a hoot. Enjoyed the drinks and the laughter. Very polite staff and great service.

I had a great time the atmosphere relaxed the music is good and my waitress Anya was very sweet and knowledgeable about the river walk and San Antonio in general. I would definitely come back here whenever I'm in town again.

We had the most fun here! I love the piano players... They are exciting, fun and up for anything. Food is bar food.. Drinks are cold. The people are fun. it's just a good fun place... not for kids!

We've traveled to Ireland and adore Irish Pubs. This Pub on the Riverwalk caught our attention and we went in for lunch and a bit-o-brew. Going through the door, you get the "Durty" title - there's peanut shells littering the floor everywhere. Peanuts are served at the tables and you toss your shells on the floor. You find out quickly there is excellent service and the waitstaff is prompt and friendly. A nice selection of Irish beer and others - no problem finding a brew you like. They have a nice large menu with nice choices and the prices are fair. The bartender was a hoot - all the staff has a great sense of humor and love to chat. We had a "French" dip - more of an "Irish" dip, and it was excellent, served with fries and some nice brews to enjoy with the meal. They have piano entertainment in the afternoon and some evenings. We didn't get back for it, but next time back, count us in! Fun place if you don't mind the shells - it adds character.

went here after little reign steakhouse and it was on our way back to the hotel. nice place for a group meet up. stayed till close good place.

After lunch a friend and I were looking for a place near the River Walk for a couple drinks. We decided on the Durty Nell's because of the look. It looks like an old neighborhood bar and we were happy we chose it. The place looks like good old Irish place and it was not crowded at all (I saw it the night before which was very crowded). The bar tender is friendly and I like peanuts at the bar. Did not try the food except a couple of finger food. The piano was good and engaging.

It was over $30 for 4 beers... which seems way overpriced. We didn't order any food, just ate the very stale peanuts they have sitting on every table. The piano player was a fun guy, but I wouldn't go back.

We stopped here for dinner. We should have just had drinks. I think if we were seated outside our visit would have been better. There is a definite moldy damp smell inside. Our food was fair, it's typical bar food. There was a not-so talented person playing the piano loudly. He was playing Sweet Caroline at 6 pm and acting like the crowd should be singing along. Overall, a good place to stop for a beverage, too many other options for food.

Beer was the worst - warm and no flavor! Sat outside and the music was offensive to your ears - guy at the piano sang only a few bars of each song. I'd say 95 % of the patrons probably had a better voice. Would never go back again!

We’ve been to Irish pubs in several countries and lots in the US. We’re also on this eating plan where you don’t eat out much. So, eating at a restaurant is a unique and special experience right now. When we saw Durty Nelly’s on the boat tour we decided to have dinner there. I was looking forward to some good Irish foods - Shepards Pie, etc. Hearty stuff. Aside from the good Guinness I was a bit unimpressed by the largely American fare on the menu. We ended up having the fries from the pub menu and shared an “Irish Burger”. The food was great, but, not what I was looking for in an Irish Pub. On that night there was live music as well. The guy was good, but, pretty loud, even outside.

Hands down our favorite place we visited in San Antonio. Fun atmosphere and great drinks! Food was good.

We enjoyed our evening at Durty Nelly's listening to the piano player and having a few beers. The piano player engaged the crowd well and was a lot of fun. Yes, he was a little dirty but it's not like kids were around and it got a lot of laughs from the crowd. The only negative I had, as someone who lives well north of the Mason-Dixon Line, was that too many of the songs were ones I'd never heard of - Texas songs specifically and other country ones. I was ready to leave after about the 4th one in a row but my husband overruled me. So I'd suggest they vary things a little more. That's my only complaint.

Popped in off the Riverwalk for a quick drink and appetizer. Decided on the donuts and the waitress Amanda told us they were the BEST appetizer they had- and I believe she’s right! Thanks Amanda for the visit!

Went there for drinks with friends last night, the crowd was eclectic at this sing a long Piano Irish bar. It’s not huge and we had to move to the patio to talk. Didn’t have any food. It’s on the river walk, but kind of out of the way. Took me a few try’s to find it.

We ate here on a busy Saturday evening and were lucky to get one of the last tables outside. It was a bit chilly out, but we didn’t mind- we got to people watch as we ate. My husband and I shared the fish and chips as we weren’t hungry enough to each have a meal. I would say it was a little above average. Our friend got the shepherds pie which was actually pretty to look at. The potatoes on top were swirled along the middle- different than the kind of pie I make at home. She enjoyed the flavors very much! There was not a spot available inside because there was a live piano player and it was... a Saturday night! Our waitress was nice and had a great sense of humor.

It's fun to go into Durty Nelly's to have a beer and listen to music. Various people play the piano most of the time. Each table gets unshaled peonuts to much on while listening. They do have food but I would rather eat somewhere else but we love to check it out whenever we are on the River Walk.

Great menu items and fun atmosphere. We ate lunch inside, but there were seats both inside and outside along the river walk.

Great service and atmosphere for a fun place to drink and sing along. Guiness on tap, arf arf aka black n tan, huge shelled peanut barrel. Live piano taking requests from Greg Greggerson.

We stopped here to have a drink while walking along the riverwalk. Ordered our drinks at the bar and then sat at a table and ate peanuts. What kept us here was the piano player. He sat down and started playing and we enjoyed every minute! This was a Thursday evening. We put in requests and sang along. He was very entertaining and fun to listen to. I would highly recommend stopping here. We didn't eat here but the food looked great.

We go here every visit to the Riverwalk. Always fun to have a couple drinks and sing along with the piano player and other guests. Food is reliably good. Daytime is fine for family. Evening (after 7, I think) is adult only. Prices aren't unreasonable for the area. Beer selection and cocktails are good.

Durty Nellys has easily have got to have been our best night out in San Antonio. Keith, our Piano Guy was hilarious and had everyone rocking out and singing along. When we go back to our aunt's in San Antonio, we will DEFINITELY be back! My aunt has lived in San Antonio for 40 years and she said that wee night out had been the best night she had since she moved here! Great Job Guys! 🤜 🤛

The bar is small but tons of fun. Everyone has a great time in there, They serve bowls of peanuts which is a nice change of pace, and keeps you wanting more drinks.

I guess this is a pretty old place and it looks it. It's one of those places you can eat peanuts and for the shells on the floor. The traditional Irish menu. I had the shepherds pie and it was pretty greasy. But OK. If you sit outside there's a nice view of the river tours. There was a singer inside that I could barely hear him outside. At least they are trying.

Fun piano bar where you can sing along and have a good time! They provide peanuts in a bowl that you just toss on the floor, the drinks were great. A very fun atmosphere !

This is a lively pub with a piano player blasting out sing a long songs. While very loud, the good is good and the staff friendly. Just don't expect to have a conversation with your friends or family. Enjoy!

Pretty average pub fare. Is in a great location on San Antonio's world famous River Walk. Sidewalk, or Riversidewalk dining offers a great chance to do some serious people-watching.

We stopped here for a drink and a bite to eat while on the Sanantonio Riverwalk when we were on our 24 day deep south bus trip with Nagel Bus tours. We met one of the owners and he was very informative .The food was good and the atmosphere was also good.I would stop here again if ever in the area

Visiting San Antonio solo as I wanted to see the city during a work trip to Houston and I’m glad I came - if in doubt please visit! Experience spoiled a bit tonight, I went to this bar for a quiet drink after a long day. Great staff, nice drink and loved the music so was having fun until a very drunk old man decided to impose himself on me and would not leave me alone. Security man did not notice but one of the servers became aware and engaged him until I could make a quick escape. Thankful for that but annoyed that my evening was cut short by an obnoxious drunk. Security team need to be more aware

The food isn't great, the wine is about as good as Two Buck Chucks (Charles Shaw), but this place has a lovely, fun vibe. The pianist plays an assortment of sing-along tunes which the crowd enjoy and get involved with. What really makes this a great place is the stellar service. We've been going there off and on for 3 years and every single time the service was excellent with happy, chatty staff. Their front patio is also an excellent place to sit and watch the various river parades that happen throughout the year.

We really enjoyed “Gray” the piano guy...he was soooooo personable and did a super job at getting to know his audience. The margaritas were the best ever, very smooth and then there was Irish Whiskey and the Irish Coffee. Wait staff always attentive and friendly. We would love more snack options on the menu rather than meals. Peanuts are fun but it would be nice to have more appetizers from which to choose...to go with the booze.

We spent a wonderful afternoon here. Friendly waitresses, cold drinks and delicious food! We had the Irish fries topped with corned beef, cabbage and cheese. Best part was the very entertaining Keith at the piano. He made us feel very welcomed, was funny and took all our requests for our favorites.

Good food, reasonable prices, skomrone at the piano playing requests with dancing . Typical Irish food

Ended our night here 3 times! live piano player Mike interacted with the crowd and played the hits with is own twist. Drinks were a little pricey but not out of line for the area.

This is a favorite stop for us every time we are in San Antonio. We love the atmosphere and the live piano music with funny tunes. The price is a little high, but you are paying to be right on the river walk. If you have never been, it is worth the time. The Sheppard's pie is killer!

This place just keeps getting better. Peanut shells on the floor, libations flowing, everyone singing and hollering - the best. Drinks were reasonable for a bar on the Riverwalk, food looked good although we didn't eat. Tip the piano player request a song - all part of the atmosphere!!

Stop here on our 1st night for drinks water fun night, they had a piano and people were singing pub tends to get crowded on Friday and Saturday nights lots of people plan on going early and staying late drinks were a bit expensive but other than that we had a great time quaint little place great service great atmosphere.

Nice little Irish pub attached to the Palacio Del Rio. Great spot to grab a beverage, bite & if the time is right, a tune! If you like spots that let you toss your peanut shells on the floor....then you will love it. The bartender was informative & helpful. One waitress was awesome.....the other obviously didn't want to be there & didn't care if we were or not. We had a party of four. Foodwise: The cheese sticks were what you'd expect. The Irish fries (I think they were called) had corned beef & cabbage on top was different....probably wouldn't order again. The patty melt was pretty good.

Piano player was not good at all and used a few drunken people as props. An older drunk couple followed his lead and each was grabbing each other’s body parts. He did this also with a female sitting her in the front by him. During the evening he made several political references which just made the fun night ugly. Hilton Hotel should be proud!!!

Great fun bar with a sing along piano player, nice staff and good priced drinks. We had a blast and certainly recommend the place

Had read about this place and the history behind it so was expecting a better experience. Music too loud to talk over, then when a piano player took over he played bluegrass, country, jazz, John Denver...we love Irish music in and Irish pub so this was not an authentic pub in our books!!!

What a blast. Songs are raunchy at times but we were there after 9 pm. Lots people eating food looks good we just sang and drank. Participate in songs and enjoy.

The most awesome lamb sandwich and fries I have ever tasted!! Enter in the HIlton and take the elevator to the river level - proceed on the river walk to the right...can't miss it! Server Amanda was very kind and helpful. Grey was awesome...the entertainer later (Jason??) was very entertaining as well. They just renovated as well!

It's okay to have a beer, eat something and listen to the pianist live. Classic Irish pub where you can have a Guinness and eat a fish and chips

We stopped by in the early evening while walking the Riverwalk - enjoyed peeling peanuts and a cold draft beer. Great entertainment by singer/piano player.

We stopped in for a few drinks and to get out of the chilly weather NYE. The place was crowded and it was a challenge to order a drink or find a clean table. There seemed to be just one bartender and one server for about 50 people. The place provides free peanuts in the shell (which were everywhere) and a pretty good piano player.

I was there for a layover with my Airline Crew. We were staying at the Hyatt. My whole crew had a awesome time. If back in the area I’ll return.

This is a fun place to drop in and listen to some fun music. There is always a piano player and a light, friendly atmosphere. It is very casual. I would pick somewhere else to eat but would stop by Nelly’s for a fun visit before dinner.

The entertainment and beverages are what you are here for. Service slow for small area, tho' cocktails were good. Would not recommend eating here.

My young daughter asked the piano guy for a request (Journey) and he was nice by saying "you are so cute, I'll do that song!" It was her choice not mine and the crowd loved it.

Popped in for a beer and an appetizer. You seat yourself anywhere, not fancy at all but so fun! Mixed aged young to old, great service, piano player was so fun! We went mostly for the experience-piano player entertainment and highly recommend!

Just so you know it’s a bar not a really great place to get food. Waitress was fantastic even after finding out we weren’t there to drink. Pastrami sandwich ok corn beef ok ...skimpy for price.

Really loud with bad service with ridiculous drink prices. Did not try the food. We went here with a group and sat outside - fun but expensive!

The piano player was fabulous! The food was average bar food, nothing special. The BlackSmith was really good & I’m not even a beer drinker!! It was a fun place.

This place is day light robbery the food is to say the least food court quality and 5* pricing. The location is very nice but that does not justify the price they charge for food and drinks. There are much better places to eat and drink for a lot less cost and far better.

Great food in a pub with a long & fun history. Great location in the shadow of Bunratty Castle. Learning about Durty Nelly's history is very entertaining!

Solo visit to grab quick dinner at bar. Straight up service - no frills - no worries, Fish and chips were fresh and piping hot. Much needed comfort food downed with a pint of Guiness. Entertaining piano entertainer was a bonus.

Right on river walk. If you like to sing along with the DJ, it is the place to be. Bar hop provides quick service.

Very disappointed, they went way overboard on the Covid fear. We tried to have a drink...and told at the door...we must order food with a drink.

Wanted to hide in plain sight. This is the bar they should’ve had in Stranger Things…. a slightly surreal Irish bar. John and Selina were welcoming in the best way, no intrusion. Pianist had his own interpretation of some well know songs but could make the piano dance. Bizarre, lovely afternoon in San Antonio.

We visited Dirty Nelly’s Irish Pub which is located at 200 S Alamo St, San Antonio, TX 78205, United States. It is right on the river and they had Keith Magel playing on the Piano. He is a brilliant entrainer and the pub was packed out on a Wednesday night. We had a great night there. Drinks were a bit expensive but I suppose you are paying extra for the entertainment and its location. If you are spending some time in San Antonio it is well worth a visit even if you are not Irish as when we were there we were the only Irish there.

Came in late afternoon for drinks and entertainment. Piano man was just getting fired up. Great bar food, beer, and live music. Please drink more and sing along!!! It's funner for everybody.

Many years ago, I arrived and enjoyed the atmosphere and posted an “im offended” rating... as I’ve grown, I realized that rating was unfair and not the “simple truth”.... the food/drinks here are amazing, the entertainment is event better, the people and service is stellar; and I encourage you to stop by

Excellent, excellent Reuben sandwich and fish and chips were served to us by this pub. Food service was fairly fast, but the check took a while to get. Bowls of roasted peanuts in the shell were served while waiting for food. The surroundings seemed messy with peanut shells swept from tables onto the floor. The lighting was somewhat dark, so could not see whether surfaces were particularly clean. But, that Reuben sandwich made it all worth it.

Right on the Riverwalk. Eat some peanuts and throw the shells on the floor! Go to the bar & tell Don and Anja that Kevin from Dallas says HI! "May neighbours respect you, trouble neglect you, the angels protect you, and heaven accept you!" ...

we stopped in for a quick bite and a beer and ended up staying for hours. The food was good, beer was cold and the piano playing was GREAT, so entertaining.

This bar has the best vibe to it, no one judging each other just everyone singing and having a good time. We liked it so much we had to come back down to the River Walk at the end of our vacation to visit again. It's a can't miss bar on the River Walk.

We ended up here every night as it was part of the hotel. That's not why though, live piano, singing and even sing alongside filled with laughter and joy.

Stopped for a light dinner and to listen to the piano player. You can hear all along that stretch of the river. Unfortunately, he isn’t very good. His song selection is good and he plays well enough, but his voice doesn’t match the others. Our shepherd pie was good and sufficient for the two of us to split.

Just stopped by to listen to the music and grab a drink. Lively place, pretty fun. We enjoyed the atmosphere.

Dive bar with very entertaining piano player. Pricey drinks ($7 beers). NOT kind friendly, despite what they may tell you.

Fun little pub with a piano player. Great alternative to Howl at the Moon. Food was good, not great. The atmosphere made up for it. It was 32 degrees when we went, so it was the perfect place to spend the evening.

My family and I go to Durty Nelly's whenever we're in San Antonio. It's not the only Irish bar in the city, but it's our favorite. We have great memories of the piano player, the cozy seating, good family times (we're all over 18, however--some of the piano player's songs are a little risque). I knew I had to go to Durty Nelly's on my recent solo trip to SA. My SA-based friend and I met up at the River Walk and since we both love the bar we decided that's where we'd head. The cold front had descended really quickly that night and it had gone from balmy to freezing in about an hour. We REALLY needed to get indoors fast. Alas, though neither of us looks remotely under 21 we were stopped at the door and carded. Since we are not used to this (and since we were lightheaded and numb-fingered from the cold) it took a while to fish IDs out of various pockets and purses. FINALLY we presented them to the bouncer. Finally we were among our people--too many people. Saturday night and the place was packed. No place to sit. Every time the door opened a fresh draft of freezing air would whisk in. We left. Everyone else seemed to be having fun with the piano singing, though.

Not a great place for a drink unless you are sitting outside. Drinks weren’t very good but the service was friendly. The place needs to be renovated.

I was walking along the Riverwalk and saw a very welcoming bar and an even more welcome sounding piano. I was not wrong...from the waiter greeting me and the piano player smiling. What a fun place. When I was there it was not very busy but the atmosphere said different. I would image that Durty Nelly's can get pretty raucous on certain nights. It's a place where you go to have fun and forget about life for a while. I did not eat except for the free peanuts.

We wanted a quick stop spot to enjoy a cold drink and were so glad we found this spot. The atmosphere was great and service was top notch...even with a big crowd. The music was so good too. I would definitely return if we ever travel back to San Antonio

a surprise find on the Riverwalk. Great Irish pub - fantastic burger & fries. They have peanuts on the table, eat and throw the shells on the floor. I like ciders, and they have one of best ciders (East cider) I’ve ever had. I will definitely return here when I’m back in San Antonio.

This place is a great bar with live piano music that turns into a good sing along bar. Not the fanciest place and the food is "eh" but the drinks flow and the environment is fun - especially when the piano player is going. Worth the stop in for a few.

This is a super fun place to listen and/or sing along to a variety of music played on the piano, while eating peanuts and tossing the shells on the floor. Always a fun crowd and the burgers are good too.

It's grundgy and smelly and loud and rude and welcoming and friendly and a blast. Love the piano player.

Great place, lots of fun, awesome tunes! Definitely check this place out, when visiting the san Antonio Riverwalk. You will have a great time!!

A fantastic bar scene with sarcastic waiters. This is the schtick here. They will make cracks about your drink of choice, but it is all in a natured way. May he RIP, but think of a staff on Don Rickles trainees harping at you. Actually a lot of fun.

The piano player is what made my husband and I love this place. She was amazing! We visited on 2/24 during the day, and it was awesome!

We had the best customer service. Amanda was amazing and was the reason we came back a second time! Has fun singing to piano player.. great time. If you visit make sure you have Amanda as your waitress!!

Cool little piano bar on the riverwalk. Honestly, we went in because we had hit a few mexican places earlier in our trip and Durty Nelly's just sounded fun. Walked in to a typical dark irish pub with a piano player. We were very happy with that. Had a couple of drinks before we went to a show. Service was good, although I felt the drink menu was small. I know people like to steal copper mugs, but not having the copper mug with a mule seemed odd.

What makes the place good is its intimacy but also makes it seem a little crowded. The piano guy keeps the crowd entertained there the night and I thought the staff kept the drink and food orders moving.

LOVE IT! Go for the atmosphere, stay for the awesomeness! Do you enjoy piano pubs?! Of course you do. Sing your favorite songs upon request. Sometimes it might get a little "durty". Kevin is amazingly talented. And his brillance, wit and humor come out when he doesnt fully know your dong of request. But since you left a lavish gratuity, he'll honor your request - and he will not disappoint. Best interactive pub on the Riverwalk!

Efrain the bartender is amazingly friendly, helpful, and always smiling no matter how busy this place gets! Great selection of draft and bottled beers! Love the Irish Pub feel of this bar and the peanuts on the floor are pretty cool too! We were there on the night Donald was playing the sing along and he was great entertainment!

This was a fun little bar to grab a bite to eat. Food was good and with the piano/singer entertainment it was a perfect way to spend an hour or so when the weather was cold and drizzling outside.

Great venue for drinks, live music and delicious food!! Right on the riverwalk! Fun crowd! Good prices and great services!
Not ready for prime time - Needed more staff.
We stopped by at lunch and they did not seem prepared. Only one service provider on hand and the wait was too long for lunch. He worked very hard to service all the table (about 10). Staffing was the issue and as a result, the food was at best average. Had a Guinness (served at the right temperature) but that was the best part of the meal. My corned beef was a little undercooked and the long wait didn't help. We may try this place again, but they lost a great opportunity to impress.
