Good food and great value

By Chien Andalou |

Honest Ethiopian food, plenty of space to spread out and have a beer, and low, low prices. Veg friendly. Ambience is informal and true to the Ethiopian restaurant aesthetic ... and better lit than most. We go about once a month.

Amazing food! One Love!

Enat will amaze your taste buds with some uniquely seasoned dishes that represent common Ethiopian fare. The meals are served with Injera, a delicious sourdough like large spongy pancake-ish/tortilla-like eating utensil a meal about to make you very, very happy! The beers are cold and from Ethiopia and USA. You will come back and you will tell your friends!

Incredible bargain

By JRwisconsin |

we have had the meat combo, both in the restaurant and as takeout. Both were very good bargains at $14 for enough food for two people....The takeout order lacked the two lentil dishes included in the in house version, but both had three good meat dishes, greens and potatoes in addition to several injera...

Excellent food, friendly staff, clean restaurant

Very good! We will definitely eat here again. The vegetarian platter was delicious and perfect for two people.

House made bread and great salad

By vamsally |

The main dishes are typical Ethiopian and are good, but not amazing. But their bread is house made so great and salad is amazing.

Awesome food, great ambience and good service

I have never had ETHIOPIAN food before. The staff were helpful explaining the items in the menu and friendly. The food was great and had an awesome time at this place. Will visit again! PS: Try Baklava and thank me later!

Decent. But there's better in Seattle.

The environment is harsh. No attempt at ambience. The service is friendly but slow. The food is par for Ethiopian, which is to say that if you like Ethiopian food, you will be neither disappointed nor impressed. I can't complain about a single dish, but it was just okay. There are much better on Capitol Hill for food and ambience. The prices are reasonable and it's the only game unless you want to head into downtown.

Nice ambiance, very good service, okay food

Four of us had lunch here. It is convenient that there is a parking lot right next to the restaurant. Service was very attentive and gracious. The food was tasty, but the meats were tough, even though they were cut into small pieces. The restaurant is very generous with the bread--in addition to the bread at the bottom of the plate, we were given several dishes each with two more huge pieces.

Our first Ethiopian Meal

By cleanplateboy |

Our son Ben, and daughter-in-law Cindy, took us to Enat Ethiopian Restaurant for an interesting and very enjoyable meal. Ben & Cindy ordered the vegetarian combo which they’ve had before, and ordered the Enat Combo for us which included a number of things on the menu, including chicken, lamb and beef stews and assorted vegetables. No utensils were used, instead we tore off pieces of Injera, a giant circular thin, crepe-like bread that is soft and spongy, and used it to scoop up bites of the very flavorful stews and vegetables. It was a great experience.

Delicious first Ethiopian meal

My Ethiopian friend wanted to share her national cuisine with me and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The food is flavorful without being too spicy hot. The server will help you pick the correct food if you don't like hot spicey. If you need it, you can get a side order of Ethiopian cheese to cut the heat. The after dinner coffee was strong!

Tasty if Somewhat Unfamiliar Food

Enat is a great little hole in the wall in north Seattle, serving what I take to be Ethiopian food (how would I know?) The food is cheap and tasty, with vegetarian as a prime focus. There are meat dishes available. Be prepared to eat with your hands, scooping up tasty goodness with hunks of crepe-like flatbread.

Hidden treasure

If you like great ethiopian food, this is the place. The desk person at our hotel told us that it was her favorite place in Seattle, so we gave it a try. It doesn't look like anything fancy, but the food was great. We loved the appetizers and my wife and I shared the combo plate. There was plenty of food for both of us and we loved it. The best ethiopian I have ever had and some of the best ethnic food of any kind I have had in a long time. The combo plate was only 11.00 which made it even better. It is a quiet place with a flat screen showing soccer all the time, although the host was kind enough to let me change the channel to the Tour de France. I would love to go there again.

great food, great service, I always go there when I am looking for comfort food.

Worth the experience!

This was my first experience with Ethiopian food in quite a few years and I had forgotten what is was like. One person in our party had been to Enat many times and loved the restaurant. The wait staff was very nice and was very patient in explaining all the dishes to us and making recommendations. We went all vege and ordered a combo plate. That gave us a good tasting of many of the dishes which was great. Some were better than others but overall a fun experience and we all left with full stomachs. Our meal was very reasonably priced. I am not saying I would go back to Ethiopian food regularly but it was a nice different eating experience.

Can't wait to go back

I had my birthday dinner here last night and loved everything about this place. It looks a little sketchy from the outside but it is fine inside. Our party of seven was well taken care of. The injera was the tartest I have ever had and the doro wat was much spicier than expected. They were obviously not cooking for American palates, which I like. They also carry Ethiopian beers. There was a large number of Ethiopians dining here speaking Amharic which I took as a good sign.

an unexpected great restaurant!

Our original plan was to eat in another ethiopian restaurant nearby, but due to the long waiting time, we opted for this restaurant... and we were so positively surprised! We (4) had the vegetarian combo, the meat combo and the beef tartare! Every dish was delicious and abundant! A combo dish is enough for 2 people. The prices were good as well! A great spot! We'll come back for sure!

Great Ethiopian food

By Lv2rdtrip |

We came to Enat because our main Ethiopian restaurant, Pan Afrika, closed. The location lacks ambiance but the food is wonderful and since we were the only ones there for lunch during a week day I can't comment on the service. They also serve African tea (seasoned with clove and cardamom) and Ethiopian beer, which is hard to find. I will definitely return.

Somewhat Disappointed, but Still Satisfied

I was very excited about my lunch at Enat. While I enjoyed the Enat Combination plate, I can say I was a little disappointed. I have cooked some African dishes myself, and they have been just as good. I was expecting some unique, deep flavors, but did not get them, especially with the vegetable dishes.

Incredibly yummy!

I lived in Ethiopia for two years, and LOVE injera and wat. Enat gets it just right, with their slightly sour injera, spicy meat, and sweet vegetables. The servings are so big, you get 2 or 3 meals when you take out! Don't forget to order ib to sprinkle on top.

Neighborhood's best kept secret

We have been eating at the Enat for several years. The veggie combo is our favorite. The ladies make the Injera in the backroom, don't miss the homemade Awazi which will curl your toes! As the others said, ambience is so so.....but the food is fantastic!

First visit ..will be back

My friend asked me if i had ever had Ethiopian food. I told him no. He said we should have lunch sometime at a restaurant he knew that he thought I would like. I agreed. A week or so later we met at the Enat Ethiopian Restaurant in the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle. Forgot to mention that he had advised me that you eat Ethiopian food without the usual utensils...like no knife, fork, or spoon. OOOKay. I said to myself. This I have got to see. Well, the Enat Ehiopian Restaurant is in shall we say a well establised neighborhood there on 15th Ave. N.E.next door to the t-shirrt printing place the Union Gospel Mission dental clinic across the street and the laundromat on the corner. Pulling into the parking lot I saw Enat's yellow marquee with the wooden paned windows. A store like facility that probably had been used by a variety of businesses over its long tenure until the present owners took over. The blinds were all drawn. I thought at first the place was closed til I saw the neon "open" sign. My friend and I were greeted warmly by the lady who I assumed was the proprieter who led us to a table. The dining room was done quite well in "60's plain." At one end was a tiny bar . Everything seemed tidy enough. I didn't have a clue what to order. Thankfully my friend who had frequented the Enat a few times before ordered the vegetarian and meat combos. In a few minutes we were served a large, metal, high ridged, bowl...I'd guess it to be in the neighborhood of 2 and a half feet in diameter along with plates of sponge bread. Or at least that's what I call it. There must have been a dozen different vegetable and meat portions on the outer portion of the bowl surrounding lettuce and other greens in the middle. I was shown how to tear off a rectangle of the grey sponge bread and use it to retrieve (grab, aquire clomp onto) what ever I wanted from the bowl. The idea being to present this to your mouth much ike you would eat a minature soft taco. I was a bit intimidated but decided to plunge right in and would you believe it was able to devour everything with nary a morsel finding my lap. The sponge bread and its ingredients on this and ensuing "clomps" were quite delicious. I tried just about everything in the bowl and soon found myself contentedly full. For a guy who spends too many lunchtimes in fast food places the Enat was such a nice change of pace...a wonderful and refreshing dining adventure. One that I am grateful my friend suggested. I will definately be back.

Great classic veg combo plate that makes me come back day after day

Ethiopian food is delicious and if you like it as much as I do then you'll get this place. What is delicious and priced so modestly. We had a veg combo for 4, meal cost was $30 w tip, that's unheard of especially if you consider how tasty the meal is. An incredible deal, I eat here all the time.
