Edible, but I tasted Siracha in everything :\

By Rachel B |

The place was clean, the floor wasn’t slippery and buffet area well kept and they have a wide variety to select from, we went about 4pm. The food was mostly spicey, any item that had a red tint to it, had the flavor of siracha, which is not a flavor I like, so that was disappointing. The beef and broccoli only tasted like flour. The wonton soup had a strange red color to it and also tasted of siracha. There were a few items I did enjoy, and my husband enjoyed all the fish selections. All in all it is edible and did not hurt my stomach, so its safe to assume, they don’t use season salt to “enhance” flavor. As long as it doesn’t cause stomach discomfort, we will be going back. We love Chinese buffets and they are getting harder to find, especially one that doesn’t use flavor enhancers. (And no, I am not going back to the one across the highway.)

Increased prices

Large assortment of foods. Good tastes. Prices for seniors have gone up. I thoroughly enjoy eating here.

Big Buffet - Fairly Inexpensive - Mediocre

By Apk D |

Its a big buffet with lots of items 9 serving tables. Senior (over 60) buffet cost $7.99+tax in late 2021. Food was only warmish and fairly bland. Might not have been at its best given that it was 3pm on a Thursday - very much at an idle point with little turnover of food for quite a while. For some food it might have gotten bland due to sitting over steam heating for more than an hour since lunch crowd left. However, I suspect the food was a bit over fried and mildly spiced at its best. But then some people don't like it too spicy or too sweet and would think it great. The over fried/baked might be due to 1 chief cook being tasked to cover the whole buffet on a mid-week day. That part was not as big a deal as the mediocre seasoning. In any case the food might be better on weekend with another cook. No guarantees.

You will not be hungry here

Great food selection for a low price (under $9 lunch weekdays). The sushi bar got a great selection of 10-12 varieties, all fresh. It is a Chinese place with great selection of seafood. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Great Food at Most Reasonable Prices

Have been a patron of this buffet since 1 week after their Grand Opening. Rather than becoming boring and common place, the owners strive to keep things fresh and ever evolving while maintaining the best buffet prices in Austin. The first thing you notice about the place are the protective lions at the entrance. After entering through large ornate doors, you find yourself in a beautifully appointed and decorated lobby where you will meet your host and hostess. You will also notice a well placed sign requesting that you notify them if you qualify for a senior discount by being 60+ years old, (a nice 10% discount rather than the $1.00 of similar restaurants). You will then be ushered into the dining area which is large and spacious, (and has almost as many booths as it does tables). They can easily seat from 2 to 36 people, (the largest group we have had there), given a little advanced notice,( reservations preferred for large groups). After you have given your drink order, you are free to be impressed by the large and varied food selection, from the large variety of sushi and the large central Mongolian grill, to the "standard" Asian buffet fare cooked their own special way, to the foods I have found only here. As I have said, even without a discount, the prices are the lowest in Austin for buffet fare. Other places need to take notice of this restaurant which is well worth going out of your way for great food, service and prices. Everything about this place deserves a 5 star rating, but the rating section below is not functioning.

Not Good

I was excited to try out a different Chinees buffet. I wasn't real impressed. I had some watermelon, mandarin oranges, and red grapes. They were OK. I tried a variety of things like potstickers and sesame balls that were not good. The rib was outstanding! The fried chicken was not edible. The sweet and sour chicken was good as was the General Tso's. There wasn't a single dessert I saw that looked good, but we did have a good ice cream cone. My husband said, and I agree, that we won't be back. We'll go to the King Buffet instead. The evening charge for a Senior was $13. That was rediculous!!

They have tons of tasteless food, mostly cold.

No flavor, you can eat all the food you want. Hard to find a favorite due to no flavor, spice or yum yum. Had better frozen Chinese food from HEB

Where Chinese Buffet Meets Deliciousness with a side of Clean and Orderly

By Jazmin C |

We go to Chinese buffet because we want the most bang for our buck. But this place surely surpassed any expectations I have of Chinese buffets, the food was cooked well, the staff was always at hand to make sure any dish that was finishing was being replenished with more quality food. The wait staff was always making sure your plates were being picked up as you finished. The water was always filled, I like water with my buffets so I don't get full so easily. But everything was delicious from the sushi to the Mongolian girl to the dessert tray that quite honestly I never got to since I was full, but it looked good. The place was clean top to bottom! Will definitely make may way back!

Never disappointed...

My favorite buffet in Austin. Always excellent with good service. I appreciate the point system and return often. I have taken friends and family there since it opened and never have had a less than satisfactory experience. I think I have tried all the Chinese buffets in Austin and return here most frequently.

Senior buffet

Great price for seniors @$8.99. Good selection of a variety of good tasting dishes. Eat between 2 and 3:30 Mon thru Fri. for Seniors and 10% off on weekends. A bowl of soup costs almost as much @other places. Desserts not great but good custard cones. Not fine dining but really good value dining. (Beverage cost not included).

A much better than average buffet.

My wife and I had lunch at East Buffet today and we were both pleased to see a variety of healthy choices as well as standard Chinese food favorites. My wife was able to choose many fresh veggies at the Mongolian Grill section and they cooked it while she watched. I had fresh sushi that was also being prepared in plain sight. I also had fresh baked fish and boiled shrimp. Everything was very good for a buffet style restaurant. And the price was great. They have senior special prices daily. One last thing... Anthony Bourdain always said to check out the bathrooms in a restaurant. He said if they are dirty to never go back. The bathrooms here were super clean with someone checking them every 30 minutes. When we’re in the mood for a buffet style meal again, we’ll definitely go back.

It's normally delicious and cheaper than Manhattan.

Seafood is fresh and affordable, but you may want to order just one steaming seasoning and season it yourself. The shop is not very clean overall, so it is not Recommendation for those concerned about hygiene.
